1. Workflow Detection with Improved Phase Discriminability

Abstract: Workflow detection is a challenge issue in the process of Industry 4.0, which plays a crucial role in intelligent production. However, it faces the problem of inaccurate phase classification and unclear boundary positioning, which are not well resolved in previous works. To solve them, this paper develops a temporal-aware workflow detection framework (TransGAN) which takes advantage of the complementarity between Transformer and graph attention network to improve phase discriminability. Specifically, temporal self-attention is firstly designed to learn the relationship between different positions of feature sequence. Then, multi-scale Transformer is introduced to encode pyramid features, which fuses multiple context cues for discriminative feature representation. At last, contextual and surrounding relations are learned in graph attention network for refined phase classification and boundary localization. Comprehensive experiments are performed to verify the effectiveness of our method. Compared to the advanced AFSD, the accuracy is improved by 2.3 % and 2.1 % when tIoU=0.5 on POTFD and THUMOS-14 dataset, respectively. Empirical study of running speed indicates that the proposed TransGAN can be deployed to real-world industrial environment for workflow detection.

Abstract: When clinically reviewing lateral cervical spine X-ray images, manual adjustment of contrast is often necessary to highlight features of interest. Gamma correction is one of the most widely used techniques for medical image enhancement in such scenarios. In emulation of radiologists' manual adjustments, this study presents a medical image enhancement scheme guided by keypoint detection confidence to automate the improvement of imaging quality for specific vertebrae in lateral cervical spine images. This method initially generates an enhancement vector to store enhanced images under different gamma correction levels. A detector for detecting 34 morphological keypoints of the cervical spine was trained on a self-constructed CLX-34 dataset, and the optimal gamma correction parameter was determined based on the maximum weighted average confidence of all keypoints across the enhanced images. The proposed weighted average confidence of keypoints metric allows flexible adjustment to enhance focus on regions of interest. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method can improve the readability of lateral cervical spine X-ray images without manual intervention, particularly overcoming the common issue of poor imaging quality of the C7 vertebra. We provide open access to the CLX-34 dataset and pre-trained tools developed in this study.

3. The Three Hundred Project: The relationship between the shock and splashback radii of simulated galaxy clusters

Abstract: Observations of the intracluster medium (ICM) in the outskirts of galaxy clusters reveal shocks associated with gas accretion from the cosmic web. Previous work based on non-radiative cosmological hydrodynamical simulations have defined the shock radius, $r_\text{shock}$, using the ICM entropy, $K \propto T/{n_\mathrm{e}}^{2/3}$, where $T$ and $n_\text{e}$ are the ICM temperature and electron density respectively; the $r_\text{shock}$ is identified with either the radius at which $K$ is a maximum or at which its logarithmic slope is a minimum. We investigate the relationship between $r_\text{shock}$, which is driven by gravitational hydrodynamics and shocks, and the splashback radius, $r_\text{splash}$, which is driven by the gravitational dynamics of cluster stars and dark matter and is measured from their mass profile. Using 324 clusters from {\small The Three Hundred} project of cosmological galaxy formation simulations, we quantify statistically how $r_\text{shock}$ relates to $r_\text{splash}$. Depending on our definition, we find that the median $r_\text{shock} \simeq 1.38 r_\text{splash} (2.58 R_{200})$ when $K$ reaches its maximum and $r_\text{shock} \simeq 1.91 r_\text{splash} (3.54 R_{200})$ when its logarithmic slope is a minimum; the best-fit linear relation increases as $r_\text{shock} \propto 0.65 r_\text{splash}$. We find that $r_\text{shock}/R_{200}$ and $r_\text{splash}/R_{200}$ anti-correlate with virial mass, $M_{200}$, and recent mass accretion history, and $r_\text{shock}/r_\text{splash}$ tends to be larger for clusters with higher recent accretion rates. We discuss prospects for measuring $r_\text{shock}$ observationally and how the relationship between $r_\text{shock}$ and $r_\text{splash}$ can be used to improve constraints from radio, X-ray, and thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich surveys that target the interface between the cosmic web and clusters., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures; accepted for publication in the Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia (PASA)

4. Near-Earth Asteroids as the parents of the $\delta$-Cancrid Meteoroid Stream

Abstract: The $\delta$-Cancrid meteoroid stream forms four active meteor showers which are observable on the Earth annually during January-February and August-September. The stream's definite parent comet has not been established. We performed a search for near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) associated with this stream. We have followed the backward evolution of the orbital elements of a sample of NEAs and found their orbits at the Earth-crossing positions. Using these orbits, we alculated the theoretical parameters of meteor showers associated with the considered NEAs. We carried out our search for observable active showers that match theoretically predicted ones with published data, and the result turned out that the predicted meteor showers of 13 NEAs were identified with the active showers produced by the $\delta$-Cancrid meteoroid stream. The comet-like orbits of NEAs and established association with active meteor showers indicate their common cometary origin. The NEAs considered are moving within the stream and likely represent the dormant remnants of a parent comet of the $\delta$-Cancrid asteroid-meteoroid complex disintegrated more than 12 thousand years ago., Comment: Accepted by RAA; 16 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: Using the B$\rho$-defined isochronous mass spectrometry technique, we report the first determination of the $^{23}$Si, $^{26}$P, $^{27}$S, and $^{31}$Ar masses and improve the precision of the $^{28}$S mass by a factor of 11. Our measurements confirm that these isotopes are bound and fix the location of the proton dripline in P, S, and Ar. We find that the mirror energy differences of the mirror-nuclei pairs $^{26}$P-$^{26}$Na, $^{27}$P-$^{27}$Mg, $^{27}$S-$^{27}$Na, $^{28}$S-$^{28}$Mg, and $^{31}$Ar-$^{31}$Al deviate significantly from the values predicted assuming mirror symmetry. In addition, we observe similar anomalies in the excited states, but not in the ground states, of the mirror-nuclei pairs $^{22}$Al-$^{22}$F and $^{23}$Al-$^{23}$Ne. Using $ab~ initio$ VS-IMSRG and mean field calculations, we show that such a mirror-symmetry breaking phenomeon can be explained by the extended charge distributions of weakly-bound, proton-rich nuclei. When observed, this phenomenon serves as a unique signature that can be valuable for identifying proton-halo candidates.

Abstract: For the High-Luminosity (HL-LHC) phase, the upgrade of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at CERN will include a novel MIP Timing Detector (MTD). The central part of MTD, the barrel timing layer (BTL), is designed to provide a measurement of the time of arrival of charged particles with a precision of 30 ps at the beginning of HL-LHC, progressively degrading to 60 ps while operating in an extremely harsh radiation environment for over a decade. In this paper we present a comparative analysis of the time resolution of BTL module prototypes made of LYSO:Ce crystal bars read out by silicon photo-multipliers (SiPMs). The timing performance measured in beam test campaigns is presented for prototypes with different construction and operation parameters, such as different SiPM cell sizes (15, 20, 25 and 30 $\rm \mu m$), SiPM manufacturers and crystal bar thicknesses. The evolution of time resolution as a function of the irradiation level has been studied using non-irradiated SiPMs as well as SiPMs exposed up to $2\times 10^{14}~n_{eq}/cm^2$ fluence. The key parameters defining the module time resolution such as SiPM characteristics (gain, photon detection efficiency, radiation induced dark count rate) and crystal properties (light output and dimensions) are discussed. These results have informed the final choice of the MTD barrel sensor configuration and offer a unique starting point for the design of future large-area scintillator-based timing detectors in either low or high radiation environments.

Abstract: Massive stars end their life as core-collapse supernovae, amongst which some extremes are Type Ic broad-lined supernovae associated with long-duration gamma-ray bursts (LGRBs) having powerful relativistic jets. Their less-extreme brethren make unsuccessful jets that are choked inside the stars, appearing as X-ray flashes or low-luminosity GRBs. On the other hand, there exists a population of extragalactic fast X-ray transients (EFXTs) with timescales ranging from seconds to thousands of seconds, whose origins remain obscure. Known sources that contribute to the observed EFXT population include the softer analogs of LGRBs, shock breakouts of supernovae, or unsuccessful jets. Here, we report the discovery of the bright X-ray transient EP240414a detected by the Einstein Probe (EP), which is associated with the Type Ic supernova SN 2024gsa at a redshift of 0.401. The X-ray emission evolution is characterised by a very soft energy spectrum peaking at < 1.3 keV, which makes it distinct from known LGRBs, X-ray flashes, or low-luminosity GRBs. Follow-up observations at optical and radio bands revealed the existence of a weak relativistic jet that interacts with an extended shell surrounding the progenitor star. Located on the outskirts of a massive galaxy, this event reveals a new population of explosions of Wolf-Rayet stars characterised by a less powerful engine that drives a successful but weak jet, possibly owing to a progenitor star with a smaller core angular momentum than in traditional LGRB progenitors., Comment: 43 pages, 9 figures, 4 tables, submitted. 8. Exploring isospin-nonconserving effects in the upper $fp$ shell with new mass measurements

Abstract: Nuclear mass measurements have recently been extended conspicuously to proton-rich region in the upper $fp$ shell. The new data are utilized to study isospin symmetry breaking phenomena}using Coulomb displacement energy (CDE) and triplet displacement energy (TDE) as probes. The new mass data, either measured for the first time or with greatly improved accuracy, removed several previously found ``anomalies" in the systematical behavior in the $fp$ shell. Remarkably, more regular odd-even staggering patterns can be established in both CDE and TDE, calling for a uniform explanation in terms of isospin-nonconserving (INC) forces across the $sd$, $f_{7/2}$, and upper $fp$ shells. By extending the large-scale shell-model calculation [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{110}, 172505 (2013)] to the upper $fp$-shell region, we found that, in order to describe the new data, the same INC force is required as previously used for the $f_{7/2}$ shell. Especially, we propose the $T=1$ TDE for those triplet nuclei, that have $pp$, $nn$, and $pn$ pairs on top of a common even-even $N=Z$ core, to be a good indicator for the isotensor component of isospin violating interactions, which is estimated here to be 150 keV., Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures

9. Thermal, topological, and scattering effects of an AdS charged black hole with an antisymmetric tensor background

Abstract: In this study, we explore a spherically symmetric charged black hole with a cosmological constant under the influence of a Kalb--Ramond field background. We compute the photon sphere and shadow radii, validating our findings using observational data from the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), with a particular emphasis on the shadow images of Sagittarius $A^{*}$. Furthermore, we investigate the \textit{greybody} factors, emission rate, and partial absorption cross section. It is shown that the Lorentz-violating parameter $\bar{l}$ has an important effect on the absorption cross section. Our analysis also includes an examination of the topological charge, temperature-dependent topology, and generalized free energy. In particular, we regard the AdS charged black hole with an antisymmetric tensor background as a topological defect in the thermodynamic space, then the system has the same topological classification to the charged RN-AdS black hole., Comment: 9 pages, 17 figures

10. JWST reveals a rapid and strong day side variability of 55 Cancri e

Abstract: The nature of the close-in rocky planet 55 Cnc e is puzzling despite having been observed extensively. Its optical and infrared occultation depths show temporal variability, in addition to a phase curve variability observed in the optical. We wish to explore the possibility that the variability originates from the planet being in a 3:2 spin-orbit resonance, thus showing different sides during occultations. We proposed and were awarded Cycle 1 time at the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) to test this hypothesis. JWST/NIRCam observed five occultations (secondary eclipses), of which four were observed within a week, of the planet simultaneously at 2.1 and 4.5 {\mu}m. While the former gives band-integrated photometry, the latter provides a spectrum between 3.9-5.0 {\mu}m. We find that the occultation depths in both bandpasses are highly variable and change between a non-detection (-5 +/- 6 ppm and 7 +/- 9 ppm) to 96 +/- 8 ppm and 119 (+34) (-19) ppm at 2.1 {\mu}m and 4.5 {\mu}m, respectively. Interestingly, the variations in both bandpasses are not correlated and do not support the 3:2 spin-orbit resonance explanation. The measured brightness temperature at 4.5 {\mu}m varies between 873-2256 K and is lower than the expected dayside temperature of bare rock with no heat re-distribution (2500 K) which is indicative of an atmosphere. Our atmospheric retrieval analysis of occultation depth spectra at 4.5 {\mu}m finds that different visits statistically favour various atmospheric scenarios including a thin outgassed CO/CO2 atmosphere and a silicate rock vapour atmosphere. Some visits even support a flat line model. The observed variability could be explained by stochastic outgassing of CO/CO2, which is also hinted by retrievals. Alternatively, the variability, observed at both 2.1 and 4.5 {\mu}m, could be the result of a circumstellar patchy dust torus generated by volcanism on the planet., Comment: 32 pages, 10 + 15 figures, 3+2 tables, accepted for publication in A&A

Abstract: Charge-changing cross-sections of $^{11-16}$C, $^{13-17}$N and $^{15-18}$O on a carbon target have been determined at energies around 300 MeV/nucleon. A nucleon separation energy-dependent correction factor has been introduced to the Glauber model calculation for extracting the nuclear charge radii from the experimental CCCSs. The charge radii of $^{11}$C, $^{13,16}$N and $^{15}$O thus were determined for the first time. With the new radii, we studied the experimental mirror-difference charge radii ($\Delta R_{\text {ch}}^{\text {mirror}}$) of $^{11}$B-$^{11}$C, $^{13}$C-$^{13}$N, $^{15}$N-$^{15}$O, $^{17}$N-$^{17}$Ne pairs for the first time. We find that the $\Delta R_{\text {ch}}^{\text {mirror}}$ values of $^{13}$C-$^{13}$N and $^{15}$N-$^{15}$O pairs follow well the empirical relation to the isospin asymmetry predicted by the $ab$ $initio$ calculations, while $\Delta R_{\text {ch}}^{\text {mirror}}$ of $^{11}$B-$^{11}$C and $^{17}$N-$^{17}$Ne pairs deviate from such relation by more than two standard deviations., Comment: 3 figures, submitted to Physics Letters B

Abstract: The discovery of pressurized superconductivity at 80 K in La3Ni2O7 officially brings nickelates into the family of high-temperature superconductors, which gives rise to not only new insights but also mysteries in the strongly correlated superconductivity. More recently, the sibling compound La4Ni3O10 was also shown to be superconducting below about 25 K under pressure, further boosting the popularity of nickelates in the Ruddlesden-Popper phase. In this study, combining high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and ab initio calculation, we systematically investigate the electronic structures of La4Ni3O10 at ambient pressure. We reveal a high resemblance of La4Ni3O10 with La3Ni2O7 in the orbital-dependent fermiology and electronic structure, suggesting a similar electronic correlation between the two compounds. The temperature-dependent measurements imply an orbital-dependent energy gap related to the density-wave transition in La4Ni3O10. By comparing the theoretical pressure-dependent electronic structure, clues about the superconducting high-pressure phase can be deduced from the ambient measurements, providing crucial information for deciphering the unconventional superconductivity in nickelates.

Abstract: Long gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are believed to originate from core collapse of massive stars. High-redshift GRBs can probe the star formation and reionization history of the early universe, but their detection remains rare. Here we report the detection of a GRB triggered in the 0.5--4 keV band by the Wide-field X-ray Telescope (WXT) on board the Einstein Probe (EP) mission, designated as EP240315a, whose bright peak was also detected by the Swift Burst Alert Telescope and Konus-Wind through off-line analyses. At a redshift of $z=4.859$, EP240315a showed a much longer and more complicated light curve in the soft X-ray band than in gamma-rays. Benefiting from a large field-of-view ($\sim$3600 deg$^2$) and a high sensitivity, EP-WXT captured the earlier engine activation and extended late engine activity through a continuous detection. With a peak X-ray flux at the faint end of previously known high-$z$ GRBs, the detection of EP240315a demonstrates the great potential for EP to study the early universe via GRBs., Comment: 41 pages, 8 figures, 7 tables

Abstract: In addition to the pressurized high-temperature superconductivity, bilayer and trilayer nickelate superconductors Lan+1NinO3n+1 (n = 2 and 3) exhibit many intriguing properties at ambient pressure, such as orbital-dependent electronic correlation, non-Fermi liquid behavior, and density-wave transitions. Here, using ultrafast reflectivity measurement, we observe a drastic difference between the ultrafast dynamics of the bilayer and trilayer nickelates at ambient pressure. Firstly, we observe a coherent phonon mode in La4Ni3O10 involving the collective vibration of La, Ni, and O atoms, which is absent in La3Ni2O7. Secondly, the temperature-dependent relaxation time diverges near the density-wave transition temperature of La4Ni3O10, in drastic contrast to kink-like changes in La3Ni2O7. Moreover, we estimate the electron-phonon coupling constants to be 0.05~0.07 and 0.12~0.16 for La3Ni2O7 and La4Ni3O10, respectively, suggesting a relatively minor role of electron-phonon coupling in the electronic properties of Lan+1NinO3n+1. Our work not only sheds light on the relevant microscopic interaction but also establishes a foundation for further studying the interplay between superconductivity and density-wave transitions in nickelate superconductors.

Abstract: A central paradigm of non-equilibrium physics concerns the dynamics of heterogeneity and disorder, impacting processes ranging from the behavior of glasses to the emergent functionality of active matter. Understanding these complex mesoscopic systems requires probing the microscopic trajectories associated with irreversible processes, the role of fluctuations and entropy growth, and the timescales on which non-equilibrium responses are ultimately maintained. Approaches that illuminate these processes in model systems may enable a more general understanding of other heterogeneous non-equilibrium phenomena, and potentially define ultimate speed and energy cost limits for information processing technologies. Here, we apply ultrafast single shot x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy to resolve the non-equilibrium, heterogeneous, and irreversible mesoscale dynamics during a light-induced phase transition. This approach defines a new way of capturing the nucleation of the induced phase, the formation of transient mesoscale defects at the boundaries of the nuclei, and the eventual annihilation of these defects, even in systems with complex polarization topologies. A non-equilibrium response spanning >10 orders of magnitude in timescales is observed, with multistep behavior similar to the plateaus observed in supercooled liquids and glasses. We show how the observed time-dependent long-time correlations can be understood in terms of the stochastic dynamics of domain walls, encoded in effective waiting-time distributions with power-law tails. This work defines new possibilities for probing the non-equilibrium and correlated dynamics of disordered and heterogeneous media.

Abstract: The ground-state mass excess of the $T_{z}=-2$ drip-line nucleus $^{22}$Al is measured for the first time to be $18103(10)$ keV using the newly-developed B$\rho$-defined isochronous mass spectrometry method at the cooler storage ring in Lanzhou. The new mass excess value allowed us to determine the excitation energies of the two low-lying $1^+$ states in $^{22}$Al with significantly reduced uncertainties of 51 keV. Comparing to the analogue states in its mirror nucleus $^{22}$F, the mirror energy differences of the two $1^+$ states in the $^{22}$Al-$^{22}$F mirror pair are determined to be $-625(51)$ keV and $-330(51)$ keV, respectively. The excitation energies and the mirror energy differences are used to test the state-of-the-art \textit{ab initio} valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group calculations with four sets of interactions derived from the chiral effective field theory. The mechanism leading to the large mirror energy differences is investigated and attributed to the occupation of the $\pi s_{1/2}$ orbital., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures

19. Assessing Left Main Bifurcation Anatomy and Haemodynamics: A Potential Surrogate for Disease Risk in Suspected Coronary Artery Disease Without Stenosis?

Abstract: Coronary anatomy governs local haemodynamics associated with atherosclerotic development, progression and ultimately adverse clinical outcomes. However, lack of large sample size studies and methods to link adverse haemodynamics to anatomical information has hindered meaningful insights to date. The Left Main coronary bifurcations of 127 patients with suspected coronary artery disease in the absence of significant stenosis were segmented from CTCA images before computing the local haemodynamics. We correlated 11 coronary anatomical characteristics with the normalised lumen area exposed to adverse haemodynamics linked with atherosclerotic processes. These include mean curvatures and diameters of branches, bifurcation and inflow angles, and Finet's ratio as the anatomical parameters, and low Time-Averaged Endothelial Shear Stress (lowTAESS<0.5Pa), high Oscillatory Shear Index (highOSI>0.1), and high Relative Residence Time (highRRT>4.17 1/Pa) for the haemodynamic consideration. We separately tested if the geometric measures and haemodynamics indicators differed between subgroups (sex, smokers, and those with hypertension). We then use a step-down multiple linear regression model to find the best model for predicting lowTAESS, highOSI and highRRT. Finet's Ratio (FR) significantly correlated to lowTAESS (p<0.001). Vessel diameters and curvature correlated to highOSI (both p<0.001). Finet's ratio, vessel diameters and daughter branch curvature independently correlated to RRT (all p<0.01). Our results indicate that specific anatomical vessel characteristics may be used as a surrogate of adverse haemodynamic environment associated with clinically adverse mechanisms of disease. This is especially powerful with the latest computing resources and may unlock clinical integration via standard imaging modalities as biomarkers without further computationally expensive simulations., Comment: 14 pages, 2 figures

Abstract: As the backbone of the fifth-generation (5G) cellular network, massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) encounters a significant challenge in practical applications: how to deploy a large number of antenna elements within limited spaces. Recently, holographic communication has emerged as a potential solution to this issue. It employs dense antenna arrays and provides a tractable model. Nevertheless, some challenges must be addressed to actualize this innovative concept. One is the mutual coupling among antenna elements within an array. When the element spacing is small, near-field coupling becomes the dominant factor that strongly restricts the array performance. Another is the polarization of electromagnetic waves. As an intrinsic property, it was not fully considered in the previous channel modeling of holographic communication. The third is the lack of real-world experiments to show the potential and possible defects of a holographic communication system. In this paper, we propose an electromagnetic channel model based on the characteristics of electromagnetic waves. This model encompasses the impact of mutual coupling in the transceiver sides and the depolarization in the propagation environment. Furthermore, by approximating an infinite array, the performance restrictions of large-scale dense antenna arrays are also studied theoretically to exploit the potential of the proposed channel. In addition, numerical simulations and a channel measurement experiment are conducted. Abstract: We present the charge-changing cross sections (CCCS) of $^{11-15}$C, $^{13-17}$N, and $^{15,17-18}$O at around 300 MeV/nucleon on a carbon target, which extends to $p$-shell isotopes with $N < Z$ for the first time. The Glauber model, which considers only the proton distribution of projectile nuclei, underestimates the cross sections by more than 10\%. We show that this discrepancy can be resolved by considering the contribution from the charged-particle evaporation process (CPEP) following projectile neutron removal. Using nucleon densities from the deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum, we investigate the isospin-dependent CPEP contribution to the CCCS for a wide range of neutron-to-proton separation energy asymmetry. Our calculations, which include the CPEP contribution, agree well with existing systematic data and reveal an ``evaporation peak" at the isospin symmetric region where the neutron-to-proton separation energy is close to zero. These results suggest that analysis beyond the Glauber model is crucial for accurately determining nuclear charge radii from CCCSs., Comment: 5 figures

This bibliometric study analyzes research trends, collaboration patterns, and the unique characteristics of precision medicine across countries to inform future research directions.Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection (1999– 2022) database to identify publications related to precision medicine. The analysis of publication patterns, collaborations, institutions, authors, and research hotspots was performed utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint 2019 in conjunction with the Bibliometrix package in R.Results: A total of 30,777 publications on precision medicine were identified. The United States and the United Kingdom were recognized as the primary contributors, while European countries exhibited substantial collaborative efforts. Harvard University and the University of California System have played pivotal roles in advancing the field. The keywords analysis showed that in the early 2000s, “gene expression” and “personalized outcomes” were key themes. Since 2015, there’s been a significant shift towards advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, liquid biopsy, highlighting their growing importance in precision medicine. Research topics across various countries exhibit certain global similarities. However, different nations exhibit distinct thematic research focuses. China emphasizes “Informatics”, “Hepatocellular Carcinoma”, “Photothermal Therapy”, and “Lung Adenocarcinoma”, while the United States prioritizes “Informatics”, “Treatment Rules”, and “Consortium Guidelines”. Germany and France share similar interests in particular research domains.Conclusion: Precision medicine is rapidly globalizing, with significant contributions from multiple countries and emerging technologies acting as catalysts for further development. Greater international cooperation is essential to elevate the quality and impact of research. However, the antifungal mechanism of silver nanomaterials with different morphologies still needs to be explored.Methods: Herein, the antifungal effect of silver nanomaterials against fungus was comparative investigated via silver nanowires and silver nanoparticles with a similar size (30 nm).Results: The optimal antifungal concentration of silver nanowires is 6.24 μg/mL, meanwhile the antifungal concentration of silver nanoparticles is 100 μg/mL. The silver nanowires are significantly superior to the silver nanoparticles. SEM and TEM results indicated that both silver nanoparticles and silver nanowires showed significant morphological changes in the mycelium of the strain, compared with the control. The lower MFC value of silver nanowires indicates good sterilization effect and suitability for eradication treatment, which is slower than that of silver nanoparticles. Moreover, we also investigated the toxicological effects of silver nanoparticles and silver nanowires.Conclusion: We comparative studied and transcriptomic analyzed the antifungal mechanism of Ag nanoparticles and nanowires against Trichosporon asahii. The antifungal effects of silver nanowires were better than the silver nanoparticles, especially in the metabolic processes and oxidative phosphorylation. RNA sequencing results indicated that 15 key targets were selected for experimental verification to interpret the potential antifungal mechanism of Ag nanomaterials against fungus. This study aims to analyze the association between ACE gene I/D polymorphism and the risk of psoriasis vulgaris in the Chinese Han population and to examine the correlation between ACE gene I/D polymorphism and psoriasis with comorbid hypertension and diabetes.Methods: A total of 358 patients with psoriasis vulgaris and 347 age- and sex-matched healthy volunteers from the Chinese Han population were selected. Clinical data, including blood pressure and fasting blood glucose, were collected from the patients. The ACE gene I/D polymorphism was analyzed using polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The association between ACE gene I/D polymorphism and psoriasis vulgaris, as well as comorbid hypertension and diabetes, was analyzed using the Pearson χ²-test.Results: The frequency of the ACE II genotype (OR = 1.84, 95% CI = 1.30, 2.61; P < 0.01) and the I allele (OR = 1.51, 95% CI = 1.22, 1.86; P < 0.01) was significantly higher in psoriasis patients compared to the control group. Conversely, the frequency of the ACE DD genotype (OR = 0.62, 95% CI = 0.44, 0.87; P < 0.01) and the D allele (OR = 0.66, 95% CI = 0.54, 0.82; P < 0.01) was significantly lower in psoriasis patients compared to the control group. While the Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) is a successful treatment, recurrence remains a significant concern. This study evaluates the predictive value of preoperative immune-inflammatory markers, including the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), in assessing the risk of residual or recurrent CIN post-LEEP.Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 423 women who underwent LEEP for CIN2/3 at Cangzhou Central Hospital between 2016 and 2020. Cox proportional hazards regression models with restricted cubic splines were used to evaluate linear and non-linear associations between immune-inflammatory indices and recurrence risk. Multivariate models were adjusted for confounding factors, and subgroup analyses were conducted to test the robustness of the associations. Threshold non-linear fitting and saturation effect analyses were also performed to identify inflection points influencing residual or recurrent disease risk.Results: Significant differences in age, menopausal status, TCT results, HPV status, degrees of CIN and margin status were observed between recurrence and non-recurrence groups. NLR demonstrated a U-shaped relationship with recurrence risk, with a threshold effect. NLR values below 3.15 were associated with a reduced recurrence risk, while higher values increased the risk. PLR and SII showed a modest protective effect below their respective thresholds.Conclusion: Systemic inflammation plays a key role in CIN recurrence following LEEP. NLR serves as a valuable prognostic marker, highlighting the potential for personalised follow-up strategies. This study compares the efficacy of a random survival forest (RSF) model with that of a conventional Cox regression model for predicting residual and recurrent high-grade CIN in premenopausal women after LEEP.Methods: Data from 458 premenopausal women treated for CIN2/3 at our hospital between 2016 and 2020 were analyzed. The RSF model incorporated demographic, pathological, and treatment-related variables. Feature selection utilizing LASSO and three other algorithms was performed to enhance the RSF model, which was further compared to a Cox regression model. Model performance was assessed using area under the curve (AUC), out-of-bag (OOB) error rates, and SHAP values to interpret predictor importance.Results: The RSF model showed superior performance compared to the Cox regression model, with AUC values of 0.767– 0.901 and peak predictive performance at 36 months post-LEEP. In contrast, the highest AUC achieved by Cox regression was 0.880. The RSF model also exhibited relatively lower OOB error rates, indicating better generalizability. Moreover, SHAP value analysis identified margin status and CIN severity as the most prominent predictors that directly affected risk predictions. Lastly, an online tool providing real-time predictions in clinical settings was successfully implemented using the RSF model.Conclusion: The RSF model outperformed the traditional Cox regression model in predicting residual and recurrent high-grade CIN risks post-LEEP. The objective of this study was to develop a prognostic prediction model for pediatric sepsis utilizing the neutrophil to lymphocyte and platelet ratio (NLPR).Methods: A multivariable logistic regression analysis was conducted to investigate the association between the NLPR and in-hospital mortality among septic children upon admission. To minimize the potential confounding factors that could introduce bias, a propensity score matching analysis was employed. Subsequently, a nomogram prediction model was developed to assess the risk of in-hospital mortality in septic children, incorporating the NLPR as a key factor. The performance of this prediction model was then evaluated.Results: A total of 230 septic children were enrolled in the study. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the NLPR was an independent risk factor for in-hospital mortality, with an odds ratio of 8.31 (95% CI 3.69– 18.68). The finding remained consistent after propensity score matching analysis. A nomogram prediction model was developed that incorporates the NLPR, arterial blood lactate level, and Pediatric Critical Illness Score (PCIS). Among the various models, this nomogram exhibited the highest area under the curve (AUC) value of 0.831. The calibration curve demonstrated good agreement between the predicted and observed outcomes. Decision curve analysis indicated that the prediction model outperformed the PCIS. Internal validation of the model yielded an AUC value of 0.824 and a kappa value of 0.420, indicating its reliability and accuracy.Conclusion: The NLPR serves as an independent risk factor for in-hospital mortality among septic children. The nomogram prognostic prediction model could effectively guide clinicians in accurately predicting the prognosis of septic children, thus enabling timely and effective treatment interventions.Keywords: pediatric sepsis, NLPR, prognosis, clinical prediction model

The present therapeutic approaches showed limited effects with poor clinical efficacy or severe side effects. This study aims to develop novel pharmaceutical agents to reduce lung damage with acceptable side effects for ALI.Methods: Naked gene delivery system based on epigallocatechin 3-gallate (EGCG) was synthesized to deliver plasmid expressing DNA damage regulated autophagy modulator 1 (DRAM1), designated as EGCG/DRAM1 (ED). ED was characterized by dynamic light scattering analysis and transmission electron microscope. The biodistribution of ED in mice was measured by an in vivo small animal imaging system. The therapeutic potentials of ED were evaluated in MLE12 cells and LPS-induced ALI mice.Results: Our results showed that ED was nearly spherical with a diameter of ~100 nm and increased the stability of DRAM1 plasmid that encapsulated. The synthesized ED showed negligible toxicity at the selected experimental concentration in MLE12 cells. ED could be taken up by MLE12 cells with high efficiency and escape from the lysosome. In ALI mice, ED facilitated the accumulation and retention of DRAM1 plasmid in lung, and attenuated pulmonary edema and pulmonary vascular permeability. The therapeutic effects of ED on ALI were associated with increased autophagy and reduced oxidative stress in lung.Conclusion: In summary, ED attenuated pulmonary edema and pulmonary vascular permeability, and improved pulmonary dysfunction in ALI mice. These ncRNAs, which include microRNAs (miRNAs) and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), play a crucial role in regulating inflammatory pathways, presenting new therapeutic opportunities. In both ischemic stroke and myocardial infarction, inflammation significantly influences disease progression and severity. Exosomes can deliver ncRNAs directly to specific cells and tissues, providing a targeted approach to modulate gene expression and reduce inflammation. Their biocompatibility and low risk of inducing immune responses make exosomes ideal therapeutic vehicles. Ongoing research is focused on optimizing the loading of ncRNAs into exosomes, ensuring efficient delivery, and understanding the mechanisms by which these ncRNAs mitigate inflammation. In ischemic stroke, exosome-derived ncRNAs originate from various cell types, including neurons, M2 microglia, patient serum, genetically engineered HEK293T cells, and mesenchymal stromal cells. In the case of myocardial infarction, these ncRNAs are sourced from mesenchymal stem cells, endothelial cells, and patient plasma. These exosome-loaded ncRNAs play a significant role in modulating inflammation in both ischemic stroke and myocardial infarction. As this research advances, therapies based on exosomes may completely change how diseases linked to inflammation are treated, offering new avenues for patient care and recovery. Several psychological factors influence this process of self-management. In this background, the present study investigated the impact of illness perceptions and coping style on self-management in people with peritoneal dialysis (PD).Methods: The study is a cross-sectional study. From May 2022 to January 2023, a convenience sampling method was used to recruit 246 peritoneal dialysis patients. General information questionnaire, brief illness perception questionnaire, medical coping style modes questionnaire and the self-management scale for peritoneal dialysis patients were used in this study. We used SPSS 24.0 to analyze the data, and the statistical methods included descriptive analysis, single factor analysis, Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis.Results: A total of 246 patients were included in this study (93.89% response rate). Cognitive representations and emotional representations were 30.40, 14.18, respectively. However, illness comprehensibility was 2.87. Illness perceptions were negative significantly correlated with self-management. With regard to coping style, our patients were more likely to adopt avoidance and resignation coping style. Confrontation and avoidance were positively related to self-management, while acceptance-resignation was negatively related.Conclusion: Self-management of peritoneal dialysis patients needs to be improved. Age, female sex, monthly income, illness perceptions and coping style were independently associated with self-management.Impact: These findings suggest that interventions that improve illness perceptions and coping style should be explored to ultimately improve their self-management. For example, patients can be provided with psychological counseling so that they can face the disease correctly, and we should pay attention to the positive role of social support.Keywords: peritoneal dialysis, illness perception, coping style, self-management

The exact mechanism by which obesity exacerbates cerebral ischemic injury is not fully understood though. The present study validated the hypothesis that obesity mediates pyroptosis by the AGEs/RAGE signaling pathway to exacerbate cerebral ischemic injury.Methods: Leptin receptor knockout (Lepr−/−) rats were used in this study to construct an obesity model, and the middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) models of ischemic stroke were established in Lepr−/− obese rats and their wild-type (WT) littermates respectively. Zea-Longa score, TTC and H&E staining were utilized to evaluate the neurological impairment. Western Blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence were used to detect protein expressions. Transmission electron microscopy was used to observe the pores in the neuronal cell membrane in the ischemic penumbra cortex.Results: Compared with WT littermates, Lepr−/− obese rats exhibited exacerbated neuronal injury after MCAO, with higher expressions of NLRP3 inflammasome and pyroptosis-related proteins in the cortical tissue of the penumbra. Moreover, more GSDMD pores were observed on the neuronal cell membranes of Lepr−/− obese rats according to the electron microscopy. Inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome expression with MCC950 inhibited neuronal pyroptosis after cerebral ischemia in Lepr−/− obese rats, thus reducing neuronal injury. We also found that compared with WT littermates, the levels of AGEs and RAGE in the cortex of Lepr−/− obese rats are significantly higher, with further increase after cerebral ischemia. Inhibition of AGEs/RAGE signaling pathway with FPS-ZM1 reduced the NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated neuronal pyroptosis in Lepr−/− obese rats, thereby mitigating the neuronal damage after cerebral ischemia.Conclusion: The AGEs/RAGE signaling pathway is involved in the exacerbation of cerebral ischemic injury in Lepr−/− obese rats via regulating NLRP3-mediated neuronal pyroptosis. Abstract: Quantum entanglement and quantum squeezing are two most typical approaches to beat the standard quantum limit (SQL) of the sensitive phase estimations in quantum metrology. Each of them has already been utilized individually to improve the sensitivity of electric field sensing with the trapped ion platform, but the upper bound of the demonstrated sensitivity gain is very limited, i.e., the experimental 3dB and theoretical 6dB, over the SQL. Here, by simultaneously using the internal (spin)-external (oscillator) state entanglements and the oscillator squeezings to effectively amplify the accumulation phase, we show that these sensitivity gains can be effectively surpassed. Hopefully, the proposal provides a novel approach to the stronger beaten of the SQL for the sensitive sensings of the desired electric field and also the other metrologies.

Abstract: We perform correlation and periodicity search analyses on long-term multi-band light curves of the FSRQ 1510-089 observed by the space-based Fermi--Large Area Telescope in gamma-rays, the SMARTS and Steward Observatory telescopes in optical and near-infrared (NIR) and the 13.7 m radio telescope in Metsahovi Radio Observatory between 2008 and 2018. The z-transform discrete correlation function method is applied to study the correlation and possible time lags among these multi band light curves. Among all pairs of wavelengths, the gamma-ray vs. optical/NIR and optical vs. NIR correlations show zero time lags; however, both the gamma-ray and optical/NIR emissions precede the radio radiation. The Generalized Lomb-Scargle periodogram, Weighted Wavelet Z-transform, and REDFIT techniques are employed to investigate the unresolved-core-emission dominated 37 GHz light curve and yield evidence for a quasi-period around 1540 days, although given the length of the whole data set it cannot be claimed to be significant. Abstract: The Lobster Eye Imager for Astronomy (LEIA), a pathfinder of the Wide-field X-ray Telescope of the Einstein Probe (EP) mission, was successfully launched onboard the SATech-01 satellite of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on 27 July 2022. In this paper, we introduce the design and on-ground test results of the LEIA instrument. Using state-of-the-art Micro-Pore Optics (MPO), a wide field-of-view (FoV) of 346 square degrees (18.6 degrees * 18.6 degrees) of the X-ray imager is realized. An optical assembly composed of 36 MPO chips is used to focus incident X-ray photons, and four large-format complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensors, each of 6 cm * 6 cm, are used as the focal plane detectors. The instrument has an angular resolution of 4 - 8 arcmin (in FWHM) for the central focal spot of the point spread function, and an effective area of 2 - 3 cm2 at 1 keV in essentially all the directions within the field of view. The detection passband is 0.5 - 4 keV in the soft X-rays and the sensitivity is 2 - 3 * 10-11 erg s-1 cm-2 (about 1 mini-Crab) at 1,000 second observation. The total weight of LEIA is 56 kg and the power is 85 W. The satellite, with a design lifetime of 2 years, operates in a Sun-synchronous orbit of 500 km with an orbital period of 95 minutes. LEIA is paving the way for future missions by verifying in flight the technologies of both novel focusing imaging optics and CMOS sensors for X-ray observation, and by optimizing the working setups of the instrumental parameters. In addition, LEIA is able to carry out scientific observations to find new transients and to monitor known sources in the soft X-ray band, albeit limited useful observing time available., Comment: Accepted by RAA

This study aimed to compare the ability of nucleotide MALDI-TOF MS to detect rifampicin (RIF) resistance in drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) patients with Xpert MTB/RIF and to analyze the disparate results individually. Additionally, potential factors associated with rifampicin resistance among DR-TB patients in Qingdao were investigated.Patients and Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at Qingdao Chest Hospital, and patients with DR-TB were enrolled. Corresponding frozen isolates were recovered and subjected to nucleotide MALDI-TOF MS, Xpert MTB/RIF, and phenotypic drug susceptibility testing (pDST). Sanger sequencing was performed for the discordant results of nucleotide MALDI-TOF MS and Xpert MTB/RIF. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify potential factors associated with rifampicin resistance among patients with DR-TB.Results: A total of 125 patients with DR-TB (18.8%, 125/668) were enrolled in this study from May 1 to July 31, 2023. Rifampicin-resistant (DR-TB/RR, 29) and rifampicin-sensitive (DR-TB/RS, 96) groups were divided according to the pDST results. Nucleotide MALDI-TOF MS performed better than Xpert MTB/RIF in terms of sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and agreement with pDST. Only six cases had inconsistent results, and the sequencing results of five cases were identical to nucleotide MALDI-TOF MS. Furthermore, chest pain (aOR=12.84, 95% CI, 2.29– 91.97, p=0.005), isoniazid sensitivity (aOR=0.14, 0.02– 0.59, p=0.013), and ethambutol sensitivity (aOR=0.02, 0.00– 0.10, p=0.000) were potential factors associated with rifampicin resistance among DR-TB patients in Qingdao.Conclusion: The overall concordance between nucleotide MALDI-TOF MS and Xpert MTB/RIF was 95.2%, with the former performing better in determining rifampicin susceptibility among DR-TB cases in Qingdao. Participants underwent evaluation using a neuropsychological protocol and were subsequently classified into two groups: those with SCD (PD-SCD+, n= 22) or those without (PD-SCD−, n= 20). After an average follow-up period of 3.0 years (2.7– 4.6 years), cognitive assessments were reiterated with the same group of subjects. Following the re-assessment, all 42 patients participated in a six-month rehabilitation training program, concluding with the reevaluation of cognitive performance.Results: In the follow-up assessment, it was observed that PD-SCD+ experienced a more pronounced annual decline in cognitive function, as measured by the Chinese-Beijing version of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (BJ-MoCA) test and semantic fluency, compared to PD-SCD−. A stepwise logistic regression analysis identified low MMSE scores (P< 0.001), elevated HAMD scores (P= 0.008), male gender (P= 0.026), and the presence of SCD (P= 0.022) associated with diminished language skills in PD patients. Both groups of PD patients exhibited improvements in BJ-MoCA scores after participating a six-month rehabilitation training program. Particularly notable is the statistically significant improvement in language skills observed in patients with PD-SCD+ compared to PD-SCD− patients following rehabilitation training.Conclusion: As PD progresses, individuals with PD-SCD+ tend to experience more pronounced cognitive decline compared to those with PD-SCD−. Semantic fluency emerges as a crucial component for assessing the cognitive subset of PD, potentially serving as an indicator of cognitive decline in individuals with PD. Evidence suggests that rehabilitation training is a viable intervention for individuals diagnosed with PD. This study aimed to perform an exploratory analysis of gynecomastia reports and the most commonly associated medications within the FAERS database.Patients and Methods: A comprehensive analysis of the FAERS from January 2004 to December 2023 was conducted. Disproportionality analysis and subsequent sensitivity analysis were performed to identify drugs potentially associated with gynecomastia, utilizing the reported odds ratio (ROR). Logistic regression analysis was employed to assess potential risk factors. The Weibull shape parameter (WSP) test was used to assess the time-to-onset characteristics of the top drugs associated with gynecomastia.Results: The study identified 30,265 cases of gynecomastia, primarily associated with nervous system drugs, accounting for 85.50% of cases. Notably, risperidone accounted for 80.81% of the total cases. Among the 165 agents with ≥ 5 cases of gynecomastia, the strongest signals were exhibited by risperidone (ROR 602.38, 95% CI 585.07– 620.20), dutasteride (ROR 17.18, 95% CI 15.55– 18.89), spironolactone (ROR 15.8, 95% CI 13.99– 17.83), and paliperidone (ROR 7.16, 95% CI 6.55– 7.84). In the sensitivity analysis of disproportionality, unexpected associations were observed, such as montelukast (n = 21, ROR 1.94, 95% CI 1.26– 2.98). The logistic regression analysis indicated that the risk of risperidone-induced gynecomastia was significantly lower in adults compared to pediatric patients (OR 0.12, 95% CI 0.09– 0.15) and in patients with higher body weight than in those with lower body weight (OR 5.24, 95% CI 3.62– 7.76). The WSP test showed that gynecomastia induced by most of the top 10 common agents tends to occur in an early failure mode.Conclusion: The rankings and signal strengths of drugs associated with gynecomastia were extracted from the FAERS. The age distribution and time-to-onset distribution of the top 10 drugs linked to gynecomastia were investigated, which can facilitate accurate clinical recognition of drug-induced gynecomastia.Keywords: drug-induced, gynecomastia, FAERS, risperidone, time-to-onset

This study examined the association between sleep characteristics and the likelihood of prodromal PD.Methods: At baseline examination of the Heart and Brain Investigation in Taicang (HABIT) study, potential PD biomarkers were obtained for 8777 participants aged over 50 years, and the probability of prodromal PD was assessed based on the Chinese expert consensus and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) criteria. General and component sleep characteristics were evaluated by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Median regression was applied to examine the association between sleep and the probability of prodromal PD, adjusting for age, sex, education level, physical activity, obesity, fast plasma glucose, lipids, and hypertension.Results: Based on China criteria, a higher level of PSQI score was significantly associated with a higher probability of prodromal PD (β = 0.02, 95% CI: 0.01– 0.03) and a higher risk of having an increased probability of prodromal PD (OR = 1.04, 95% CI: 1.02– 1.05). Compared to participants with good quality sleep, those with poor quality sleep had a 0.07% increased probability of prodromal PD (95% CI: 0.01– 0.13) and a 19% increased risk of having a high prodromal PD probability (95% CI: 1.04– 1.20). Similar associations between sleep quality and the probability of prodromal PD were also observed using the MDS criteria. Subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, habitual sleep efficiency, daytime dysfunction, and use of sleep medications were also associated with the probability of prodromal PD.Conclusion: Poor sleep quality was associated with a high probability of prodromal PD.
