Objectives This study reported a single-center clinical trial of endovascular treatment for symptomatic nonacute occlusion of the intracranial large artery (NA-ILAO). The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety, feasibility, and clinical effect of simple balloon dilatation and stent implantation. Methods The patients diagnosed with symptomatic NA-ILAO were enrolled. A total of 40 cases were included in this study. While recanalization failed in 4 patients, it was successful in 36 patients, who were then divided into two groups for further analysis: balloon dilatation group (n = 24) and stent implantation group (n = 12). The perioperative complications, clinical outcome, and follow-up results were analyzed. Results Perioperative complications in the stent implantation group were significantly higher than those in the simple balloon dilatation group (p < 0.05). There were 21 and 10 cases of 90-day good clinical outcome (modified Rankin scale [mRS] ≤ 2) in the balloon and stent groups, respectively (p = 0.518). All patients with successful recanalization underwent digital subtraction angiography (DSA) or CT angiography (CTA) during an average follow-up of 14 months. There were two cases of restenosis in the balloon dilatation group and one in the stent implantation group (p = 1.000). There were two cases of re-occlusion in the stent group and none in the balloon dilatation group (p < 0.001). Stroke recurred in two cases in the stent group and in one case in the simple balloon dilatation group (p = 0.013). Conclusion Endovascular recanalization is safe and feasible for patients with symptomatic NA-ILAO. Compared with stent implantation, simple balloon dilation may be a better recanalization method, but larger randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Shorter duration of ice‐free conditions at successively northern latitudes increasingly constrains large‐bodied waterbirds from completing their reproductive cycle before freeze‐up, affecting their migration and breeding schedules. We compared migration timing and duration of stay in summering areas between 127 tracked East Asian Whooper Swans Cygnus cygnus breeding at high latitude (HLP, 67°N, Japan wintering) and mid‐latitude (MLP, 48°N, China wintering) based on tracking and remote‐sensing data. Adult breeding site arrival dates were positively correlated with latitude. HLP adults arrived just before 50% snow melt, and summered for 142 days (the duration of the ice‐free period there), just over the c.130 days required to hatch and raise cygnets to fledging. MLP adults arrived 3 weeks after 50% snow melt, and summered for c.209 days (c.80% of the total ice‐free period of 267 days), laying eggs c.33 days after arrival. These results suggest that HLP breeders were more likely to invest stored nutrients and energy brought from winter quarters and/or on migration to enable rapid egg‐laying post‐arrival at the breeding grounds (a more 'capital' breeding strategy). By contrast, MLP females appear able to obtain most, if not all, of their energetic and nutritional reproductive needs exogenously post‐arrival at breeding areas (a more 'income' breeding strategy). HLP individuals left the breeding grounds before MLP, but all departed before freeze‐up. Migration duration did not differ between the two groups, so differential summer residency times affected duration on wintering areas. We recommend follow‐up investigations of the relative degree of capital/income investment among birds from both groups and their effects on their respective demographics, population dynamics and growth rates. The nuclear magnetic resonance T2 spectrum was used to identify the T2 cut-off value, which is the key to determining the irreducible water saturation of a reservoir. In this paper, the saturation and centrifugal T2 spectra of sandstone and coal samples were used to explore the correlation between each parameter and the T2 cut-off value, using a single fractal dimension, a multifractal dimension and a spectral morphology discrimination method. The conclusions are as follows: (1) The T2 spectra of nine sandstone samples in this paper can be divided into four types. Type A is represented by sample 2, wherein the T2 spectrum shows a bimodal state and the area of the right T2 spectrum (2.5~100 ms) is larger than that of the left T2 spectrum (T2 < 2.5 ms), indicating that the sample has good pore connectivity and belongs to the macroporous development sample. The B-type T2 spectrum is unimodal, and the pore connectivity is poor, indicating that it is a large-pore development sample. The T2 spectrum of the C-type sample is unimodal, and the pore connectivity is very poor, indicating that it is a mesoporous development sample. The T2 spectrum of the D-type sample shows a single peak state, and the main T2 is distributed within 0.1~2.5 ms. The pore connectivity is very poor, which indicates that it belongs to the small pore development type sample. (2) The single fractal model shows that, compared with other single fractal parameters, D2 increases with the increase in the T2 cut-off value, but the correlation is weak. Therefore, it is not feasible to predict the T2 cut-off value using the single fractal dimension parameter. (3) The multifractal model shows that D−10–D10 increases linearly with the increase in D−10–D0, but there is no obvious linear correlation between D0–D10 and D−10–D10, indicating that the low pore volume area in this kind of sample controls the overall heterogeneity of pore distribution. (4) The related parameters affecting the T2 cut-off value include D−10–D10, D−10/D10, D−10–D0, TM and D2. Therefore, based on the above five parameters, a T2 cut-off value prediction model is constructed. The physical characteristics of coal reservoirs are important factors affecting the occurrence status of coalbed methane, as well as key factors restricting the production capacity. Therefore, taking 3# coal in Qinnan region of China as the research object, based on the actual production data of 200 coalbed methane wells in the research area, experimental testing combined with simulation analysis was used to explore the physical properties of medium and high-order reservoirs and their impact on the occurrence and production of coalbed methane. The characteristics of coalbed methane reservoir formation and production capacity changes in the research area were revealed, and the factors restricting the production capacity of coalbed methane wells were calculated using the gray correlation analysis method. The results indicate that the micropores in the coal reservoir in the study area are well-developed, while the macropores and mesopores (exogenous fractures) are underdeveloped, the surface of the micropores is complex, and the connectivity of the micropores is poor, resulting in reservoirs with high gas adsorption characteristics and low permeability. The fractal characteristics of pores and fractures can reflect the permeability characteristics of reservoirs. Permeability is positively correlated with macropores (exogenous fractures) and mesopores, and negatively correlated with micropores. There is a positive correlation between permeability and productivity, and the reservoir in the study area has a stress-sensitive boundary. The main factors restricting productivity under the complex pore and fracture system of high-rank coal reservoir were identified, and the gray relational analysis method was used to evaluate the development effect of the research area. The shale of different potential layers is studied by using rock pyrolysis analysis, total organic carbon determination (TOC), kerogen microscopic component identification, mineral X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and low-temperature nitrogen adsorption experiments. The results are as follows: (1) Shishui Formation of the Lower Carboniferous and Longtan Formation of the Upper Permian are the two most important shale gas reservoirs in the Chenlei Depression. The sedimentary environment of the target shale is a marine land interaction facies coastal bay lagoon swamp sedimentary system. Two sedimentary facies of tidal flat facies, subtidal zone, and lagoon swamp facies are developed. (2) The organic matter types of shale are Type III and II2, with TOC content greater than 1%. The maturity of shale samples is relatively higher (Ro,max is above 2%), which means they have entered the stage of large-scale gas generation. The overall brittle mineral content of the target shale sample is relatively higher (above 40%), which is conducive to artificial fracturing and fracture formation in the later stage, while an appropriate amount of clay minerals (generally stable at 40%) is conducive to gas adsorption. (3) The overall pore structure of the water measurement group and Longtan group is good, with a higher specific surface area and total pore volume (average specific surface area is 12.21 and 8.36 m2/g, respectively), which is conducive to the occurrence of shale gas and has good adsorption and storage potential. The gas content of the water measurement group and the Longtan Formation varies from 0.42 to 5 cm3/g, with an average of 2.1 cm3/g. Pore structure heterogeneity affects the porosity and permeability variation of tight sandstone, thereby restricting sandstone gas production. In total, 11 sandstone samples were taken as a target in the northwest margin of the Junggar Basin. Then, scanning electron microscope and high-pressure mercury injection tests are used to study the distribution of a pore and fracture system in the target sandstone. On this basis, single and multifractal models are used to quantitatively characterize the heterogeneity of pore structure, and the applicability of the classification model in characterizing the heterogeneity of the pore-fracture structure is explored. The results are as follows. (1) The target samples are divided into two types, with the mercury removal efficiency of type A samples ranging from 44.6 to 51.8%, pore size mainly distributed between 100 and 1000 nm, and pore volume percentage ranging from 43 to 69%. The mercury removal efficiency of type B samples ranges from 14 to 28%, and pore diameter distribution is relatively uniform. (2) Different fractal models represent different physical meanings. The calculation results of sponge and thermodynamic fractal models indicate that the heterogeneity of pore structure distribution in the type B sample is significantly stronger than that in type A, which is inconsistent with the conclusions of the Sierpinski model. This is because the aforementioned two models characterize the complexity of pore surface area, while the Sierpinski model characterizes the roughness of pore volume. The comparison shows that there is a significant correlation between the thermal dimensionality value DT and the volume percentage of macropores and mesopores. Therefore, the thermodynamic model can better quantitatively characterize the heterogeneity of macropore and mesoporous pore distribution. (3) The results indicate that higher pore volume range is mainly influenced by mesopores and macropores. From the relationship curve between mercury removal efficiency and single fractal dimension, it can be seen that mercury removal efficiency is greatly affected by distribution heterogeneity of the lower value area of pore volume, and it has no obvious relationship with distribution heterogeneity in the lower value area of the pore volume. Pore structure heterogeneity of coal reservoirs restricts the diffusion-seepage process of coalbed methane, thereby restricting the production capacity of coalbed methane. Therefore, 10 coal samples from the Linxing area are taken as an objective, and high-pressure mercury intrusion testing was used to describe the pore structure distribution of all the coal samples. On this basis, four single and multifractal models were used to perform fractal calculations, and correlation analysis was conducted on the mercury advance and retreat fractal dimension values to clarify the physical significance of mercury removal fractal dimension values. Finally, the relationship between fractal dimension values of mercury curves and pore structure parameters was clarified, and the applicability of various fractal models in characterizing pore structure heterogeneity was explored. All the samples can be divided into type A and B by using pore volume percentage greater than 1000 nm and the mercury removal efficiency. The T model has universality and the strongest correlation in characterizing the heterogeneity of pore volume distribution in samples. A fractal parameter based on high-pressure mercury injection curve was obtained, and was then used to quantitatively characterize the pore and fracture structure of coal reservoirs. This parameter is used to characterize the complexity of gas and water transport during coalbed methane production, further elucidating the coalbed methane production process under the constraint of pore and fracture structure in coal reservoirs. Pore and fracture structure heterogeneity is the basis for coalbed methane production capacity. In this paper, high-pressure mercury intrusion test curves of 16 coal samples from the Taiyuan Formation in the Linxing area are studied. Based on the fractal dimension values of mercury intrusion and retreat curves, the correlation between the two different fractal parameters is studied. Then, the permeability variation of different types of coal samples is studied using overlying pressure pore permeability tests. The correlation between the permeability variation of coal samples and dimension values is explored, and the results are as follows. (1) Based on porosity and mercury removal efficiency, all coal samples can be divided into three types, that is, types A, B, and C. Among them, Type A samples are characterized by lower total pore volume, with pore volume percentages ranging from 1000 to 10,000 nm not exceeding 15%. (2) During the mercury injection stage, both the M-model and S-model can reflect the heterogeneity of seepage pore distribution. In the mercury removal stage, the M-model cannot characterize the heterogeneity of pore size distribution in each stage, which is slightly different from the mercury injection stage. (3) The permeability of Type A samples is most sensitive to pressure, with a permeability loss rate of up to 96%. The original pore and fracture structure of this type of coal sample is relatively developed, resulting in a high initial permeability. (4) There is no significant relationship between compressibility and fractal dimension of mercury injection and mercury removal, which may be due to the comprehensive influence of pore structure on the compressibility of the sample. Gas injection for enhancing gas recovery (GI–EGR) is a multifaceted process that requires a solid theoretical foundation to be implemented orderly. However, there are limited reports on the micro-mechanisms of GI–EGR technology applied to coalbed methane reservoirs, especially for deep strata. To address this gap, this study utilized molecular simulation techniques to construct the organic pore models of anthracite with varying sizes and morphologies, and explored the micro-dynamic behaviors of CH4 and various gas injected components including N2, CO2 and flue gas confined in nanopores. The aim was to reveal the competitive adsorption mechanisms of gases in multi-component systems under shallow and deep geological conditions. The results demonstrated that the isosteric heats of CH4, N2 and CO2 all increased after the transition from shallow to deep, with rising amplitudes of 18.8%, 22.8% and 17.8%, respectively, in the respective single-component systems. In multi-component adsorption models, the isosteric heats remained higher than those under shallow conditions, but there were some small fluctuations due to the interference between various gases. On the other hand, the self-diffusion coefficients of single CH4, N2 and CO2 in the deep condition decreased by 37.6%, 27.2% and 23.1%, respectively, compared to those in conventional shallow conditions. As a consequence, the difference in diffusivity among various gases would get narrowed.
