The digital correlator is one of the most crucial data processing components of a radio telescope array. With the scale of radio interferometeric array growing, many efforts have been devoted to developing a cost-effective and scalable correlator in the field of radio astronomy. In this paper, a 192-input digital correlator with six CASPER ROACH2 boards and seven GPU servers has been deployed as the digital signal processing system for Tianlai cylinder pathfinder located in Hongliuxia observatory. The correlator consists of 192 input signals (96 dual-polarization), 125-MHz bandwidth, and full-Stokes output. The correlator inherits the advantages of the CASPER system, for example, low cost, high performance, modular scalability, and a heterogeneous computing architecture. The Multi-channel Photometric Survey Telescope (Mephisto) is a real-time, three-color photometric system designed to capture the color evolution of stars and transients accurately. This telescope system can be crucial in cosmological distance measurements of low-redshift (low-$z$, $z$ $\lesssim 0.1$) Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia). To optimize the capabilities of this instrument, we perform a comprehensive simulation study before its official operation is scheduled to start. By considering the impact of atmospheric extinction, weather conditions, and the lunar phase at the observing site involving the instrumental features, we simulate the light curves of SNe Ia obtained by the Mephisto. The best strategy in the case of SN Ia cosmology is to take the image at an exposure time of 130 s with a cadence of 3 days. In this condition, Mephisto can obtain hundreds of high-quality SNe Ia to achieve a distance measurement better than $4.5\%$. Given the on-time spectral classification and monitoring of the Lijiang 2.4 m Telescope at the same observatory, Mephisto, in the whole operation, can significantly enrich the well-calibrated sample of supernovae at low-$z$ and improve the calibration accuracy of high-$z$ SNe Ia., Comment: 15 pages, 7 figures

We present a comprehensive investigation on the mass function (MF) of a snake-like stellar structure in the solar neighbourhood, building on our previous discovery. To ensure the reliability of the data, we reselect the member stars of the Stellar ``Snake'' in the latest {\it Gaia} Data Release 3 using the same approach as the initial series of articles. We also precisely measure the physical parameters of the clusters within the Stellar Snake. In light of the high completeness of the member stars in the cluster regions, we develop a simulated model color-magnitude diagram-based inference method to derive the mass function, binary fraction, and mass-ratio distribution of the clusters in the Stellar Snake. Notably, despite their similar ages and metallicity, we discover systematic variations in the MFs along the elongation direction of the Snake in the mass range of 0.5 to 2.0 M$_\odot$. The ``head'' of the Snake conforms to a canonical initial mass function with a power-law slope of $\alpha\sim-2.3$. Extending towards the ``tail,'' the MF becomes more top-light, indicating a deficiency of massive stars within these clusters. This result provides evidence for the delayed formation of massive stars in the clusters. We invent a new cohomology theory for Lie triple algebras. Using this cohomology, we introduce the notions of 2-term $L_\infty$-triple algebras and Lie triple 2-algebras. We prove that the category of 2-term $L_\infty$-triple algebras is equivalent to the category of Lie triple 2-algebras. Although type Ia supernovae are so important in many astrophysical field, e.g. in cosmology, their explosion mechanism and progenitor system are still unclear. In physics, the relative equivalent width (REW) of the Si II 635.5 nm absorption feature reflects the velocity interval of silicon in the supernova ejecta and then may provide constraints on the explosion mechanism of SNe Ia. In this paper, we divide the SNe Ia into broad line (BL) and normal line (NL) subsamples based on their REW of Si II 635.5 nm absorption lines around maximum light, and find that the BL SNe Ia have a dimmer mean brightness than NL ones, which possibly results from their different metallicities. However, based on the pixel statistics study on the environments of two subsamples, we do not find any significant potential difference on the environments between BL and NL SNe Ia, which implies that the explosion mechanism of SNe Ia could be independent of their progenitor populations., Comment: 17 pages, 13 figures, accepted for publication in ApJ

In an effort to develop computational tools for predicting radiation hazards from solar energetic particles (SEPs), we have created a data-driven physics-based particle transport model to calculate the injection, acceleration and propagation of SEPs from coronal mass ejection (CME) shocks traversing through the solar corona and interplanetary magnetic fields. The model runs on an input of corona and heliospheric plasma and magnetic field configuration from an MHD model driven by solar photospheric magnetic field measurements superposed with observed CME shocks determined from coronagraph images. Using several advanced computation techniques involving stochastic simulation and integration, it rigorously solves the time-dependent 5-dimensional focus transport equation in the phase space that includes pitch-angle scattering, diffusion across magnetic field line, and particle acceleration by CME shocks. We apply the model to the 2011 November 3 CME event. The calculation results reproduce multi-spacecraft SEP observations reasonably well without normalization of particle flux. This circumsolar SEP event seen by spacecraft at Earth, STEREO-A and STEREO-B at widely separated longitudes can be explained by diffusive shock acceleration by a single CME shock with a moderate speed., Comment: 26 pages, 12 figures

High-throughput DFT calculations are key to screening existing/novel materials, sampling potential energy surfaces, and generating quantum mechanical data for machine learning. By including a fraction of exact exchange (EXX), hybrid functionals reduce the self-interaction error in semi-local DFT and furnish a more accurate description of the underlying electronic structure, albeit at a high computational cost that often prohibits such high-throughput applications. To address this challenge, we have constructed SeA (SeA=SCDM+exx+ACE), a robust, accurate, and efficient framework for high-throughput condensed-phase hybrid DFT in the PWSCF module of Quantum ESPRESSO (QE) by combining: (1) the non-iterative selected columns of the density matrix (SCDM) orbital localization scheme, (2) a black-box and linear-scaling EXX algorithm (exx), and (3) adaptively compressed exchange (ACE). Across a diverse set of non-equilibrium (H$_2$O)$_{64}$ configurations (with densities spanning 0.4 g/cm$^3$$-$1.7 g/cm$^3$), SeA yields a one$-$two order-of-magnitude speedup (~8X$-$26X) in the overall time-to-solution compared to PWSCF(ACE) in QE (~78X$-$247X speedup compared to the conventional EXX implementation) and yields energies, ionic forces, and other properties with high fidelity. As a proof-of-principle high-throughput application, we trained a deep neural network (DNN) potential for ambient liquid water at the hybrid DFT level using SeA via an actively learned data set with ~8,700 (H$_2$O)$_{64}$ configurations. Using an out-of-sample set of (H$_2$O)$_{512}$ configurations (at non-ambient conditions), we confirmed the accuracy of this SeA-trained potential and showcased the capabilities of SeA by computing the ground-truth ionic forces in this challenging system containing > 1,500 atoms., Comment: 23 pages, 5 figures, 3 tables

The end-to-end speech synthesis model can directly take an utterance as reference audio, and generate speech from the text with prosody and speaker characteristics similar to the reference audio. However, an appropriate acoustic embedding must be manually selected during inference. Due to the fact that only the matched text and speech are used in the training process, using unmatched text and speech for inference would cause the model to synthesize speech with low content quality. In this study, we propose to mitigate these two problems by using multiple reference audios and style embedding constraints rather than using only the target audio. Multiple reference audios are automatically selected using the sentence similarity determined by Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT). In addition, we use ''target'' style embedding from a Pre-trained encoder as a constraint by considering the mutual information between the predicted and ''target'' style embedding. The experimental results show that the proposed model can improve the speech naturalness and content quality with multiple reference audios and can also outperform the baseline model in ABX preference tests of style similarity., Comment: 5 pages,3 figures submitted to ICASSP2022
