We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel protocol for transferring quantum states between superconducting cavities using only continuous two-mode squeezing interactions, without exchange of photonic excitations between cavities. This approach conceptually resembles quantum teleportation, where quantum information is transferred between different nodes without directly transmitting carrier photons. In contrast to the discrete operations of entanglement and Bell-state measurement in teleportation, our scheme is symmetric and continuous. We experimentally realize coherent and bidirectional transfer of arbitrary quantum states, including bosonic quantum error correction codes. Our results offer new insights into the quantum state transfer and quantum teleportation. In particular, our demonstration validates a new approach to realize quantum transducers, and might find applications in a wide range of physical platforms.

The skin effect, where bulk modes collapse into boundary modes, is a key phenomenon in topological non-Hermitian systems, has been predominantly studied in spinless systems. Recent studies illustrate the magnetic suppression of the first-order skin effect while ignoring spin. However, the physical significance of a magnetic field in non-Hermitian skin effect with spin remains elusive. Here, we systematically explore non-Hermitian spinful systems based on generalized Hatano-Nelson models with SU(2) gauge potential fields. In an open one-dimensional lattice, the spin-up and spin-down states can be uniquely separated and localized at the two boundaries without magnetic field. When an external magnetic field is applied, the skin effect exhibits a smooth transition from bidirectional to unidirectional. Remarkably, we demonstrate that the first-order skin effect can be anomalously induced by a magnetic field in a topologically trivial non-Hermitian spinful system without any skin effect at zero field. The direction of such magnetically induced skin modes can be controlled by simply changing the amplitude and polarity of the magnetic field. In addition, we demonstrate a transition between non-Bloch PT and anti-PT symmetries in the system, and uncover the spindependent mechanism of non-Bloch PT symmetry. Our results pave the way for the investigation of non-Hermitian skin effect with spin degrees of freedom.

Two crucial performance criteria for the deployment of visual localization are speed and accuracy. Current research on visual localization with neural networks is limited to examining methods for enhancing the accuracy of networks across various datasets. How to expedite the re-localization process within deep neural network architectures still needs further investigation. In this paper, we present a novel approach for accelerating visual re-localization in practice. A tree-like search strategy, built on the keyframes extracted by a visual clustering algorithm, is designed for matching acceleration. Our method has been validated on two tasks across three public datasets, allowing for 50 up to 90 percent time saving over the baseline while not reducing location accuracy., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures

Large Language Models (LLMs), epitomized by ChatGPT' s release in late 2022, have revolutionized various industries with their advanced language comprehension. However, their efficiency is challenged by the Transformer architecture' s struggle with handling long texts. KV-Cache has emerged as a pivotal solution to this issue, converting the time complexity of token generation from quadratic to linear, albeit with increased GPU memory overhead proportional to conversation length. With the development of the LLM community and academia, various KV-Cache compression methods have been proposed. In this review, we dissect the various properties of KV-Cache and elaborate on various methods currently used to optimize the KV-Cache space usage of LLMs. These methods span the pre-training phase, deployment phase, and inference phase, and we summarize the commonalities and differences among these methods. Additionally, we list some metrics for evaluating the long-text capabilities of large language models, from both efficiency and capability perspectives. For superconducting quantum processors, microwave signals are delivered to each qubit from room-temperature electronics to the cryogenic environment through coaxial cables. Limited by the heat load of cabling and the massive cost of electronics, such an architecture is not viable for millions of qubits required for fault-tolerant quantum computing. Monolithic integration of the control electronics and the qubits provides a promising solution, which, however, requires a coherent cryogenic microwave pulse generator that is compatible with superconducting quantum circuits. Here, we report such a signal source driven by digital-like signals, generating pulsed microwave emission with well-controlled phase, intensity, and frequency directly at millikelvin temperatures. We showcase high-fidelity readout of superconducting qubits with the microwave pulse generator. The device demonstrated here has a small footprint, negligible heat load, great flexibility to operate, and is fully compatible with today's superconducting quantum circuits, thus providing an enabling technology for large-scale superconducting quantum computers., Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures

Commit message is one of the most important textual information in software development and maintenance. However, it is time-consuming and labor-intensive to write commit messages manually. Commit Message Generation (CMG) has become a research hotspot in automated software engineering. Researchers have proposed several methods for CMG and achieved great results. In recent years, CodeBERT, CodeT5, and other Pre-trained Language Models (PLMs) for code have been proposed. These models can be easily transferred to code-related downstream tasks including CMG with simple fine-tuning and can achieve impressive performance. Moreover, Large Language Models (LLMs) with code capabilities (e.g., ChatGPT, Llama 3, Gemma) can be directly applied to various tasks by designing instruct prompts without training. This brings new possibilities to the CMG task. In this work, we propose REACT, a novel REtrieval-Augmented framework for CommiT message generation, which effectively integrates advanced retrieval techniques with different PLMs and LLMs and can broadly enhance the performance of various models on the CMG task. Specifically, we design and build a hybrid retriever to retrieve the most relevant code diff and commit message pair from the code base as an "exemplar". Then, the retrieved pair is utilized to guide and enhance the generation of commit messages by PLMs and LLMs through fine-tuning and in-context learning. Our approach is evaluated on a widely-used dataset. The experimental results show that REACT significantly enhances the performance of various models on the CMG task, improving the BLEU score of CodeT5 by up to 55%, boosting Llama 3's BLEU score by 102%, and substantially surpassing all baselines, achieving a new SOTA. This demonstrates the effectiveness and broad applicability of our framework that can enhance CMG by a large margin.

In the field of crowd counting research, many recent deep learning based methods have demonstrated robust capabilities for accurately estimating crowd sizes. However, the enhancement in their performance often arises from an increase in the complexity of the model structure. This paper discusses how to construct high-performance crowd counting models using only simple structures. We proposes the Fuss-Free Network (FFNet) that is characterized by its simple and efficieny structure, consisting of only a backbone network and a multi-scale feature fusion structure. The multi-scale feature fusion structure is a simple structure consisting of three branches, each only equipped with a focus transition module, and combines the features from these branches through the concatenation operation. Our proposed crowd counting model is trained and evaluated on four widely used public datasets, and it achieves accuracy that is comparable to that of existing complex models. Furthermore, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation by replacing the existing backbones of various models such as FFNet and CCTrans with different networks, including MobileNet-v3, ConvNeXt-Tiny, and Swin-Transformer-Small. The experimental results further indicate that excellent crowd counting performance can be achieved with the simplied structure proposed by us.

We investigate the Cauchy problem of a new higher-order nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equation (NHNSE) with weighted Sobolev initial data which is derived by ourselves. By applying $\bar{\partial}$-steepest descent method, we derive the long-time asymptotics of the NHNSE. Explicit steps are as follows: first of all, based on the spectral analysis of a Lax pair and scattering matrice, the solution of the NHNSE is exhibted through solving the corresponding Riemann-Hilbert problem. Secondly, by applying some properties of the Riemann-Hilbert problem, we obtain the long-time asymptotics of the solution to the NHNSE. As we know that the properties of the NHNSE presented in the paper have not been found in any scholar journals.

A non-isospectral Lax pair is first introduced from which a kind of non-isospectral integrable TD hierarchy is derived, whose reduction is an integrable system called the non-isospectral integrable TD system. Then by using the inverse scattering transform (IST) method, new general soliton solutions for the non-isospectral integrable TD hierarchy are obtained. Because we investigate soliton solutions of non-isospectral integrable systems by the IST method, a new Gel'fand-Levitan-Marchenko (GLM) equation needs to be constructed. Finally, we explicitly obtain the exact solutions of the non-isospectral integrable TD system. The method presented in the paper can be extensively applied to other integrable equations.

Federated Learning (FL) has emerged as a promising approach for collaborative machine learning, addressing data privacy concerns. However, existing FL platforms and frameworks often present challenges for software engineers in terms of complexity, limited customization options, and scalability limitations. In this paper, we introduce EdgeFL, an edge-only lightweight decentralized FL framework, designed to overcome the limitations of centralized aggregation and scalability in FL deployments. By adopting an edge-only model training and aggregation approach, EdgeFL eliminates the need for a central server, enabling seamless scalability across diverse use cases. With a straightforward integration process requiring just four lines of code (LOC), software engineers can easily incorporate FL functionalities into their AI products. Furthermore, EdgeFL offers the flexibility to customize aggregation functions, empowering engineers to adapt them to specific needs. Based on the results, we demonstrate that EdgeFL achieves superior performance compared to existing FL platforms/frameworks. Our results show that EdgeFL reduces weights update latency and enables faster model evolution, enhancing the efficiency of edge devices. Moreover, EdgeFL exhibits improved classification accuracy compared to traditional centralized FL approaches. By leveraging EdgeFL, software engineers can harness the benefits of federated learning while overcoming the challenges associated with existing FL platforms/frameworks.

A nonclassical light source is essential for implementing a wide range of quantum information processing protocols, including quantum computing, networking, communication, and metrology. In the microwave regime, propagating photonic qubits that transfer quantum information between multiple superconducting quantum chips serve as building blocks of large-scale quantum computers. In this context, spectral control of propagating single photons is crucial for interfacing different quantum nodes with varied frequencies and bandwidth. Here we demonstrate a microwave quantum light source based on superconducting quantum circuits that can generate propagating single photons, time-bin encoded photonic qubits and qudits. In particular, the frequency of the emitted photons can be tuned in situ as large as 200 MHz. Even though the internal quantum efficiency of the light source is sensitive to the working frequency, we show that the fidelity of the propagating photonic qubit can be well preserved with the time-bin encoding scheme. Our work thus demonstrates a versatile approach to realizing a practical quantum light source for future distributed quantum computing.

In this paper, we investigate the Cauchy problem of the following complex cubic Camassa-Holm (ccCH) equation $$m_{t}=b u_{x}+\frac{1}{2}\left[m\left(|u|^{2}-\left|u_{x}\right|^{2}\right)\right]_{x}-\frac{1}{2} m\left(u \bar{u}_{x}-u_{x} \bar{u}\right), \quad m=u-u_{x x},$$ where $b>0$ is an arbitrary positive real constant. Long-time asymptotics of the equation is obtained through the $\bar{\partial}$-steepest descent method. Firstly, based on the spectral analysis of the Lax pair and scattering matrix, the solution of the equation is able to be constructed via solving the corresponding Riemann-Hilbert (RH) problem. Then, we present different long time asymptotic expansions of the solution $u(y,t)$ in different space-time solitonic regions of $\xi=y/t$. The half-plane ${(y,t):-\infty 0}$ is divided into four asymptotic regions: $\xi \in(-\infty,-1)$, $\xi \in (-1,0)$, $\xi \in (0,\frac{1}{8})$ and $\xi \in (\frac{1}{8},+\infty)$. When $\xi$ falls in $(-\infty,-1)\cup (\frac{1}{8},+\infty)$, no stationary phase point of the phase function $\theta(z)$ exists on the jump profile in the space-time region. In this case, corresponding asymptotic approximations can be characterized with an $N(\Lambda)$-solitons with diverse residual error order $O(t^{-1+2\varepsilon})$. There are four stationary phase points and eight stationary phase points on the jump curve as $\xi \in (-1,0)$ and $\xi \in (0,\frac{1}{8})$, respectively. A photonic transistor that can switch or amplify an optical signal with a single gate photon requires strong non-linear interaction at the single-photon level. Circuit quantum electrodynamics provides great flexibility to generate such an interaction, and thus could serve as an effective platform to realize a high-performance single-photon transistor. Here we demonstrate such a photonic transistor in the microwave regime. Our device consists of two microwave cavities dispersively coupled to a superconducting qubit. A single gate photon imprints a phase shift on the qubit state through one cavity, and further shifts the resonance frequency of the other cavity. In this way, we realize a gain of the transistor up to 53.4 dB, with an extinction ratio better than 20 dB. Our device outperforms previous devices in the optical regime by several orders in terms of optical gain, which indicates a great potential for application in the field of microwave quantum photonics and quantum information processing.

Generalized cat states represent arbitrary superpositions of coherent states, which are of great importance in various quantum information processing protocols. Here we demonstrate a versatile approach to creating generalized itinerant cat states in the microwave domain, by reflecting coherent state photons from a microwave cavity containing a superconducting qubit. We show that, with a coherent control of the qubit state, a full control over the coherent state superposition can be realized. The prepared cat states are verified through quantum state tomography of the qubit state dependent reflection photon field. We further quantify quantum coherence in the prepared cat states based on the resource theory, revealing a good experimental control on the coherent state superpositions. The photon number statistic and the squeezing properties are also analyzed. Remarkably, fourth-order squeezing is observed in the experimental states. Fast and reliable wireless communication has become a critical demand in human life. In the case of mission-critical (MC) scenarios, for instance, when natural disasters strike, providing ubiquitous connectivity becomes challenging by using traditional wireless networks. In this context, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) based aerial networks offer a promising alternative for fast, flexible, and reliable wireless communications. Due to unique characteristics such as mobility, flexible deployment, and rapid reconfiguration, drones can readily change location dynamically to provide on-demand communications to users on the ground in emergency scenarios. As a result, the usage of UAV base stations (UAV-BSs) has been considered an appropriate approach for providing rapid connection in MC scenarios. In this paper, we study how to control multiple UAV-BSs in both static and dynamic environments. We use a system-level simulator to model an MC scenario in which a macro BS of a cellular network is out of service and multiple UAV-BSs are deployed using integrated access and backhaul (IAB) technology to provide coverage for users in the disaster area. With the data collected from the system-level simulation, a deep reinforcement learning algorithm is developed to jointly optimize the three-dimensional placement of these multiple UAV-BSs, which adapt their 3-D locations to the on-ground user movement. The evaluation results show that the proposed algorithm can support the autonomous navigation of the UAV-BSs to meet the MC service requirements in terms of user throughput and drop rate.

Fast and reliable connectivity is essential to enhancing situational awareness and operational efficiency for public safety mission-critical (MC) users. In emergency or disaster circumstances, where existing cellular network coverage and capacity may not be available to meet MC communication demands, deployable-network-based solutions such as cells-on-wheels/wings can be utilized swiftly to ensure reliable connection for MC users. In this paper, we consider a scenario where a macro base station (BS) is destroyed due to a natural disaster and an unmanned aerial vehicle carrying BS (UAV-BS) is set up to provide temporary coverage for users in the disaster area. The UAV-BS is integrated into the mobile network using the 5G integrated access and backhaul (IAB) technology. We propose a framework and signalling procedure for applying machine learning to this use case. A deep reinforcement learning algorithm is designed to jointly optimize the access and backhaul antenna tilt as well as the three-dimensional location of the UAV-BS in order to best serve the on-ground MC users while maintaining a good backhaul connection. Schr\"odinger's cat originates from the famous thought experiment querying the counterintuitive quantum superposition of macroscopic objects. As a natural extension, several "cats" (quasi-classical objects) can be prepared into coherent quantum superposition states, which is known as multipartite cat states demonstrating quantum entanglement among macroscopically distinct objects. Here we present a highly scalable approach to deterministically create flying multipartite Schr\"odinger cat states, by reflecting coherent state photons from a microwave cavity containing a superconducting qubit. We perform full quantum state tomography on the cat states with up to four photonic modes and confirm the existence of quantum entanglement among them. We also witness the hybrid entanglement between discrete-variable states (the qubit) and continuous-variable states (the flying multipartite cat) through a joint quantum state tomography. Our work demonstrates an important experimental control method in the microwave region and provides an enabling step for implementing a series of quantum metrology and quantum information processing protocols based on cat states.

A quantum memory that can store quantum states faithfully and retrieve them on demand has wide applications in quantum information science. An efficient quantum memory in the microwave regime working alongside quantum processors based on superconducting quantum circuits may serve as an important architecture for quantum computers. Here we realize on-demand storage and retrieval of weak coherent microwave photon pulses at the single-photon level. We implement a superconducting multi-resonator quantum memory which is composed of a set of frequency-tunable coplanar transmission line (CPW) resonators. By dynamically tuning the resonant frequencies of the resonators, we achieve tunable memory bandwidth from 10 MHz to 55 MHz, with an overall storage efficiency up to 12 % with well preserved phase coherence. We further demonstrate on-demand storage and retrieval of a time-bin flying qubit. This result opens up a prospect to integrate our chip-based quantum memory with the state-of-the-art superconducting quantum circuit technology for quantum information processing.

High fidelity single shot qubit state readout is essential for many quantum information processing protocols. In superconducting quantum circuit, the qubit state is usually determined by detecting the dispersive frequency shift of a microwave cavity from either transmission or reflection. In this paper, we demonstrate the use of constructive interference between the transmitted and reflected signal to optimize the qubit state readout, with which we find a better resolved state discrimination and an improved qubit readout fidelity. As a simple and convenient approach, our scheme can be combined with other qubit readout methods based on the discrimination of cavity photon states to further improve the qubit state readout.

The integration of high-k dielectrics with two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors is a critical step towards high-performance nanoelectronics, which however remains challenging due to high density of interface states and the damage to the monolayer 2D semiconductors. In this study, we propose a selective hydrogenation strategy to improve the interface properties while do not affect the 2D semiconductors. Using the interface of monolayer MoS2 and silicon nitride as an example, we show substantially improved interface properties for electronic applications after the interfacial hydrogenation, as evidenced by reduced inhomogeneous charge redistribution, increased band offset, and untouched electronic properties of MoS2. Interestingly, this hydrogenation process selectively occurs only at the silicon nitride surface and is compatible with the current semiconductor fabrication process. We further show that this strategy is general and applicable to other interfaces between high-k dielectrics and 2D semiconductors such as HfO2 on the monolayer MoS2. Our results demonstrate a simple yet viable way to improve the interfacial properties for integrating many high-k dielectrics on a broad range of two-dimensional transition metal disulfide semiconductors.
