17. An Improved Kriging Surrogate Model Method With High Robustness for Electrical Machine Optimization

Abstract

This article presents a highly robust optimization method for electrical machines, taking the uncertain tolerances of machine manufacturing into account. Different from the traditional multi-objective optimization methods based on Kriging surrogate model, two genetic algorithm (GA) models with disparate sampling principles are used here to release heavy computational burden and to improve prediction accuracy. One is adding the final optimization result of GA as the samples into the initial surrogate model, while the other one is adding the samples from the optimization process for the initial surrogate model. A 12-slot 14-pole interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) is used for the case study, and two GA models are compared. Furthermore, the proposed robust optimization method is compared with a deterministic optimization method to demonstrate its superiority, and its effectiveness is verified by prototype tests.

Abstract

A biological treatment is the core process for removing organic pollutants from industrial wastewater. However, industrial wastewater often contains large amounts of toxic and harmful pollutants, which can inhibit the activity of microorganisms in a treatment system, precipitate the deterioration of effluent quality, and threaten water ecological security from time to time. In most of the existing anaerobic biological treatment processes, toxic effects on microorganisms are determined according to the amounts of end-products of the biochemical reactions, and the evaluation results are relatively lacking. When microorganisms contact toxic substances, changes in biological metabolic activity precede the accumulation of reaction products. As sensitive units, electroactive microorganisms can generate electrical signals, a change in which can directly reflect the toxicity level. The applications of electroactive microorganisms for the toxicity monitoring of wastewater are very promising. Further attention needs to be paid to considering the appropriate evaluation index, the influence of the environment on test results, mechanisms, and other aspects. Therefore, we reviewed the literature regarding the above aspects in order to provide a research foundation for the practical application of electroactive microorganisms in toxicant monitoring. 33. Fourier-Based Vibration Model of Electrical Machines Considering Nonideal Orthogonality Between Electromagnetic Forces and Structural Modes

Abstract

This article proposes a Fourier-based model of vibration synthesis, improving both precision and speed. For the first time, the nonideal orthogonality between electromagnetic (EM) forces and structural modes is theoretically proposed and modeled by spatial harmonics. Different from the discrete vectors used in the previous literature, the proposed method achieves a one-dimension continuous model of EM forces and modes. On the basis, the vectors of modes and forces on tooth surfaces are decomposed by fast Fourier transform, so that the vibration response is synthesized based on Fourier coefficients. Furthermore, the proposed model is applied to a 12-slot/10-pole interior permanent-magnet machine. The spatial harmonics of mode vectors are elaborated to identify the key orders of EM forces before the vibration response is completed. Then, the proposed model is compared with the coupled-field finite element analysis (FEA). The advantages are verified in terms of computational accuracy, speed, and sensitivity to mesh quality. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed model is verified by both coupled-field FEA and experiment.

34. A High-Frequency Signal Injection-Based Sensorless Control Method Robust to Single and Double Open-Phase Faults for a Dual Three-Phase Motor

Abstract

Open-phase faults will lead to a large error in the estimated rotor position of the high-frequency signal injection (HFSI) based sensorless method in a dual three-phase motor (DTM) drive system, resulting in unstable performance. The previous research has proposed a senseless control method robust to the single open-phase fault (SOPF) to improve the reliability of the drive system. To further enhance the robustness of the sensorless control system of the DTM, the effect of the double open-phase fault (DOPF) on the HFSI is analyzed and unified with that of the SOPF. It is found that both SOPF and DOPF can cause the varying amplitude and negative sequence harmonics of the high-frequency currents in the αβ-subspace. To solve these problems, a transformation method is introduced to transform them into multiple harmonics. Then, an adaptive filter-based rotor position estimation method is proposed. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed HFSI-based sensorless control method can accurately estimate the rotor position under health, SOPF, and DOPF conditions without any fault-diagnosis method.
