Abstract

The activation of the P2X7 receptor as an ATP-gated ion channel, triggers the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines in tumor carring individuals and stimulate excitation of injury-causing neurons, thereby exacerbating the transmission of pain. In preclinical cancer pain models, it has the potential to serve as a new therapeutic target for cancer pain management.

Abstract

Audio classification is considered as a challenging problem in pattern recognition. Recently, many algorithms have been proposed using deep neural networks. In this paper, we introduce a new attention-based neural network architecture called Classifier-Attention-Based Convolutional Neural Network (CAB-CNN). The algorithm uses a newly designed architecture consisting of a list of simple classifiers and an attention mechanism as a classifier selector. This design significantly reduces the number of parameters required by the classifiers and thus their complexities. In this way, it becomes easier to train the classifiers and achieve a high and steady performance. Our claims are corroborated by the experimental results. Compared to the state-of-the-art algorithms, our algorithm achieves more than 10% improvements on all selected test scores.

9. A combined immersed boundary and discrete unified gas kinetic scheme for particle-fluid flows

Abstract

A discrete unified gas kinetic scheme (DUGKS) coupled with the immersed boundary (IB) method is developed to perform interface-resolved simulation of particle-laden flows. The present method (IB-DUGKS) preserves the respective advantages of the IB and DUGKS, i.e., the flexibility and efficiency for treating complex flows, and the robustness and low numerical-dissipation. In IB-DUGKS, the IB method is used to treat the fluid-solid interfaces and the DUGKS is applied to simulate the fluid flow, making use of the Lagrangian and Eulerian meshes, respectively. Those two meshes are fully independent, which contributes to the avoidance of grid regeneration when a solid particle moves. Specifically, in the present implementation of IB-DUGKS, the no-slip boundary condition at the particle surface is accurately enforced by introducing an efficient iterative forcing algorithm, and the IB force induced by the particle boundary is conveniently incorporated into the DUGKS with the Strange-Splitting scheme. The accuracy of the IB-DUGKS is first verified in the flows past a stationary cylinder and an oscillating cylinder in a quiescent fluid. After that, several well-established two- and three-dimensional particulate flow problems are simulated, including the sedimentation of a particle and the DKT dynamics of two particles in a channel, and a group of particles settling in an enclosure. In all test cases, the results are in good agreement with the data available in the literature, demonstrating that the proposed IB-DUGKS is a promising tool for simulating particulate flows., Comment: 25 pages, 19 figures

12. Modal-Oriented High-Frequency Common-Mode Switching Oscillation Suppression in Inverter-Fed Machines Using Parity-Time Symmetry

Abstract

The suppression of high-frequency (HF) common-mode (CM) switching oscillations in inverter-fed machine systems is a critical yet challenging task, primarily due to the presence of self-resonance in CM propagation paths, such as parasitic parameters of the filter. This article presents a novel approach based on parity-time (PT) symmetry to mitigate HFCM switching oscillation by utilizing a magnetically coupled external resonator to efficiently transfer transient oscillation energy. First, the HFCM switching oscillation in an inverter-fed machine system, treated as an internal resonator, is analyzed along with its modal characteristics. Subsequently, an external resonator is designed to operate at the exceptional point (EP) of PT symmetry for the suppression of oscillation modes. Experimental results obtained from a 380 V/3 kW variable-frequency drive (VFD) test rig demonstrate that the specially designed external reactor can effectively reduce the HFCM oscillation mode at 3 MHz by approximately 45% and attenuate the resonance spike in the CM spectrum by up to 13 dB. This solution is characterized by noncontact safety, compact size, excellent attenuation, and configurable flexibility.

Abstract

Background: Cell death mechanisms are integral to the pathogenesis of breast cancer (BC), with ATP-induced cell death (AICD) attracting increasing attention due to its distinctive specificity and potential therapeutic applications. Methods: This study employed genomic methodologies to investigate the correlation between drug sensitivity and types of AICD in BC. Initially, data from TCGA were utilized to construct a prognostic model and classification system for AICD. Subsequently, a series of bioinformatics analyses assessed the prognostic and clinical significance of this model within the context of BC. Results: Analysis revealed a cohort of 18 genes associated with AICD, exhibiting prognostic relevance. Survival analyses indicated that overall survival rates were significantly lower in high-risk populations compared to their low-risk counterparts. Furthermore, prognostic indicators linked to AICD demonstrated high accuracy in predicting survival outcomes in BC. Immunological assessments indicated heightened expression of anti-tumor infiltrating immune cells and immune checkpoint molecules in low-risk populations, correlating with various anti-tumor immune functions. Ultimately, a comprehensive prognostic model related to AICD was developed through univariate analysis, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO), and multivariate Cox regression analysis. As Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) concentration increased, the viability of BC cells exhibited a general decline at each time point. Notably, ATP diminished the mitochondrial membrane potential in BC cells while enhancing it in normal breast epithelial cells. Additionally, ATP inhibited the migration of BC cells and promoted their apoptosis. ATP also stimulated reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in MCF-10A cells, with implications for the immune response in BC cells. Compared to the control group, expression levels of CLIC6 , SLC1A1 , and CEMIP were significantly reduced in the ATP intervention group, whereas ANO6 expression was elevated. ANO6 , CEMIP , and CLIC6 share genetic variants with BC, while SLC1A1 does not exhibit genetic causal variation with the disease. Conclusion: A valuable prognostic model associated with AICD has been established, capable of accurately predicting BC prognosis. The induction of cell death by ATP appears to play a protective role in BC progression. Abstract

Recently, we are witnessing an emerging global public health crisis with the inception and outspread of the 2019 novel Coronavirus Disease (2019-nCoV), causing respiratory illness termed as COVID-19. The COVID-19 virus is transmitted between people when they are in close proximity to each other. Preventive and mitigation measures are critical in the fight against COVID-19 disruptions. Personal Protective Equipment, also known as PPE, is a crucial effective measure against the virus. PPEs are the dedicated equipment or clothing worn by an individual for protection against infectious diseases. However, surging demand, low product quality standards, and disruptions in the global supply chain of PPEs amid the COVID-19 pandemic are putting the lives of public and frontline healthcare workers at risk. Hence it becomes crucial to retrospect the lifecycle of PPEs. This paper attempts to present a discussion of PPEs from the product lifecycle perspective, beginning at its conception, after that traversing through various stages of design and manufacturing, and then finally ending with end-of-life issues such as disposal and recycling. Additionally, we also critically outline things that went wrong recently in PPE supply chain management and propose possible productive measures for future pandemics of this nature. Abstract

Background/Aim LncRNA plays a key role in tumor progression. HAGLR functions as an oncogene in many cancers. However, the molecular mechanism of HAGLR in colon cancer is still unclear. Methods qRT-PCR was used to measure the expression of HAGLR, miR-185-5p in colon cancer. The expression of CDK4 and CDK6 was detected by Western blot. CCK-8 assay, EdU staining, transwell and Annexin V-FITC/PI assay were used to analyze the effect of HAGLR and miR-185-5p on cell proliferation, invasion, migration and apoptosis. Bioinformatic analysis and luciferase were used to analyze the target genes of HAGLR and miR-185-5p. Nude mice were used to detect mouse tumor changes. Results Compared with normal colon cancer tissues and cells, the expression of HAGLR was increased in colon cancer tissues and cells. In addition, the expression of HAGLR down-regulation inhibited the growth, migration, and invasion of colon cancer cells. MiR-185-5p was reduced in colon cancer, and CDK4 and CDK6 acted as target genes of miR-185-5p to regulate the progress of colon cancer. And CDK4 and CDK6 were predicted as downstream targets of miR-185-5p. Finally, it was demonstrated that HAGLR regulated tumor progression in vivo. Conclusion Lnc HAGLR promoted the development of colon cancer by miR-185-5p/CDK4/CDK6 axis, and lnc HAGLR might be potential target for colon cancer.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence will not only change the production and life of human beings, but also fundamentally change the winning mechanism and fighting mode of modern wars, and give birth to new fighting means and ideas. Behavior tree will be a good medium for the application of artificial intelligence in the military field. This paper first introduces the basic principle of Behavior Tree (BT), and then elaborates and analyzes the development status of Behavior Tree from the aspects of implementation and design application. Secondly, the characteristics of behavior tree, finite state machine and hierarchical finite state machine are compared from the aspects of hierarchy, maintainability, code coupling, expansibility and reusability. Finally, the development trend of behavior tree combined with machine learning and expert system and its application prospects in interactive software platform, unmanned autonomous systems and combat simulation systems are analyzed.
