Highlights This work focused on the leakage of the composite pressure vessel with a structure consisting of an aluminum alloy inner liner, a composite winding layer, and an aluminum covering. Through applying the finite element simulation approach and leakage rate test, it was found that the average strain of the winding layer in the lap region at the pressure of 46 MPa is 0.0078. Additionally, the leakage rate of the covering adhesive joint was investigated by considering the deformation, revealing that the leakage rate increases with increasing test pressure. The leakage rate at the lap region with a length of 18 mm is 2.05 × 10−7 Pa·m3/s at 0.0078 strain decreasing by 1.46 and 2.31 times compared to those under 12 and 7 mm lengths, respectively. The leakage rate exhibits a strict inverse correlation with the length of the leakage path under a pressure of 0 MPa. Additionally, when the deformation remains below the critical strain threshold (approximately 0.6%), the relationship between pressure and leakage rate shows a linear positive correlation. When the deformation of the component exceeds the critical strain threshold, the leakage rate of the component is significantly affected by its deformation and an increase in overall deformation results in a greater increase in leakage rate. The relationship between the two exhibits a non‐linear trend. This work provides strong technical support for the leakage assessment of composite pressure vessels. The deployment of lithium metal anode in solid‐state batteries with polymer electrolytes has been recognized as a promising approach to achieving high‐energy‐density technologies. However, the practical application of the polymer electrolytes is currently constrained by various challenges, including low ionic conductivity, inadequate electrochemical window, and poor interface stability. To address these issues, a novel eutectic‐based polymer electrolyte consisting of succinonitrile (SN) and poly (ethylene glycol) methyl ether acrylate (PEGMEA) is developed. The research results demonstrate that the interactions between SN and PEGMEA promote the dissociation of the lithium difluoro(oxalato) borate (LiDFOB) salt and increase the concentration of free Li+. The well‐designed eutectic‐based PAN1.2‐SPE (PEGMEA: SN=1: 1.2 mass ratio) exhibits high ionic conductivity of 1.30 mS cm−1 at 30 °C and superior interface stability with Li anode. Vibration pretreatment microwave curing is a high-quality and efficient composite out-of-autoclave molding process. Focusing on interlaminar shear strength, the effects of pretreatment temperature, pretreatment time and vibration acceleration on the molding performance of composite components were analyzed sequentially using the orthogonal test design method; a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and optical digital microscope (ODM) were used to analyze the void content and fiber-resin bonding state of the specimens under different curing and molding processes. The results show that the influence order of the different vibration process parameters on the molding quality of the components was: vibration acceleration > pretreatment temperature > pretreatment time. Within the parameters analyzed in this study, the optimal vibration pretreatment process parameters were: pretreatment temperature of 90 °C, pretreatment time of 30 min, and vibration acceleration of 10 g. Using these parameters, the interlaminar shear strength of the component was 82.12 MPa and the void content was 0.37%. Compared with the microwave curing process, the void content decreased by 71.8%, and the interlaminar shear strength increased by 31.6%. The microscopic morphology and mechanical properties basically reached the same level as the standard autoclave process, which achieved a high-quality out-of-autoclave curing and molding manufacturing of aerospace composite components. Solid‐state lithium metal batteries (SLMBs) are attracting enormous attention due to their enhanced safety and high theoretical energy density. However, the alkali lithium with high reducibility can react with the solid‐state electrolytes resulting in the inferior cycle lifespan. Herein, inspired by the idea of interface design, the 1‐butyl‐1‐methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide as an initiator to generate an artificial protective layer in polymer electrolyte is selected. Time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometry and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveal the stable solid electrolyte interface (SEI) is in situ formed between the electrolyte/Li interface. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images demonstrate that the constructed SEI can promote homogeneous Li deposition. As a result, the Li/Li symmetrical cells enable stable cycle ultralong‐term for over 4500 h. Moreover, the as‐prepared LiFePO4/Li SLMBs exhibit an impressive ultra‐long cycle lifespan over 1300 cycles at 1 C, as well as 1600 cycles at 0.5 C with a capacity retention ratio over 80%. Conventional lithium‐ion batteries, with flammable organic liquid electrolytes, have serious safety problems, which greatly limit their application. All‐solid‐state batteries (ASSBs) have received extensive attention from large‐scale energy‐storage fields, such as electric vehicles (EVs) and intelligent power grids, due to their benefits in safety, energy density, and thermostability. As the key component of ASSBs, solid electrolytes determine the properties of ASSBs. In past decades, various kinds of solid electrolytes, such as polymers and inorganic electrolytes, have been explored. Among these candidates, organic–inorganic composite solid electrolytes (CSEs) that integrate the advantages of these two different electrolytes have been regarded as promising electrolytes for high‐performance ASSBs, and extensive studies have been carried out. Herein, recent progress in organic–inorganic CSEs is summarized in terms of the inorganic component, electrochemical performance, effects of the inorganic ceramic nanostructure, and ionic conducting mechanism. To better understand bacterial communities and metabolism under nitrogen deficiency, 154 seawater samples were obtained from 5 to 200 m at 22 stations in the photic zone of the Western North Pacific Ocean. Total 634 nitrate-utilizing bacteria were isolated using selective media and culture-dependent methods, and 295 of them were positive for nitrate reduction. These nitrate-reducing bacteria belonged to 19 genera and 29 species and among them, Qipengyuania flava, Roseibium aggregatum, Erythrobacter aureus, Vibrio campbellii, and Stappia indica were identified from all tested seawater layers of the photic zone and at almost all stations. Twenty-nine nitrate-reducing strains representing different species were selected for further the study of nitrogen, sulfur, and carbon metabolism. All 29 nitrate-reducing isolates contained genes encoding dissimilatory nitrate reduction or assimilatory nitrate reduction. Six nitrate-reducing isolates can oxidize thiosulfate based on genomic analysis and activity testing, indicating that nitrate-reducing thiosulfate-oxidizing bacteria exist in the photic zone. Five nitrate-reducing isolates obtained near the chlorophyll a-maximum layer contained a dimethylsulfoniopropionate synthesis gene and three of them contained both dimethylsulfoniopropionate synthesis and cleavage genes. This suggests that nitrate-reducing isolates may participate in dimethylsulfoniopropionate synthesis and catabolism in photic seawater. The presence of multiple genes for chitin degradation and extracellular peptidases may indicate that almost all nitrate-reducing isolates (28/29) can use chitin and proteinaceous compounds as important sources of carbon and nitrogen. Collectively, these results reveal culturable nitrate-reducing bacterial diversity and have implications for understanding the role of such strains in the ecology and biogeochemical cycles of nitrogen, sulfur, and carbon in the oligotrophic marine photic zone. A comprehensive research coupling experiment and computation has been performed to understand the phase transition of Na 3 SbS 4 and to synthesize cubic Na 3 SbS 4 ( c -Na 3 SbS 4 ), a high temperature phase of Na 3 SbS 4 that is difficult to be preserved when cooled down to ambient temperature. The formation of c -Na 3 SbS 4 is verified by Rietveld refinement, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy as well as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Unlike tetragonal Na 3 SbS 4 ( t -Na 3 SbS 4 ) appearing phase transition at high temperature, c -Na 3 SbS 4 is stable not just at room temperature but also sustaining thermal cycling up to at least 200 °C. Both experiment and theoretical calculation reveal that the ionic conductivity of c -Na 3 SbS 4 is higher than that of t -Na 3 SbS 4 , though the values are in the same order of magnitude. Both structures allow fast ion transport. All-solid-state cells with c -Na 3 SbS 4 solid electrolyte demonstrate superior Coulombic efficiency, high specific capacity, and relatively good cycling stability. We characterized the culturable, heterotrophic bacterial community in soil collected from a former alpine military site contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons. The physiologically active eubacterial community, as revealed by fluorescence-in situ-hybridization, accounted for 14.9 % of the total (DAPI-stained) bacterial community. 4.0 and 1.2 % of the DAPI-stained cells could be attributed to culturable, heterotrophic bacteria able to grow at 20 and 10 °C, respectively. The majority of culturable bacterial isolates (23/28 strains) belonged to the Proteobacteria with a predominance of Alphaproteobacteria. The remaining isolates were affiliated with the Firmicutes, Actinobacteria and Bacteroidetes. Five strains could be identified as representatives of novel species. Characterization of the 28 strains demonstrated their adaptation to the temperature and nutrient conditions prevailing in the studied soil. One-third of the strains was able to grow at subzero temperatures (−5 °C). As a new type of energy-containing material, Ammonium dinitramide based liquid propellant has the advantages of being green, having low toxicity, good stability, and high safety performance. Traditional catalytic combustion methods require preheating of the catalytic bed and deactivation of the catalytic particles at high temperatures, while microwave ignition methods can effectively solve these problems. To study the combustion characteristics of ADN-based liquid propellants during microwave ignition, the influence of microwave power and gas flow rates on the combustion process are analyzed using experimental methods. A high-speed camera was used to observe the enhanced effects of microwave power and gas flow on plasma and flame. Combined with temperature measurement, the combustion process of ADN-based liquid propellants under the action of plasma was analyzed. The combustion process in the presence of microwaves was observed by comparing parameters such as flame length, flame temperature, and radical intensity. Those results show that, with the increase in microwave power, the luminous burning area of the flame grows significantly. The microwave power is increased by 250 W each, and the flame jet length is increased by nearly 20%. The increase in microwave power also leads to an increase in propellant combustion temperature, however, this increase gradually slows down. At a gas flow rate of 20 L/min, the ADN-based liquid propellant showed the best combustion performance with a maximum jet length of 14.51 cm and an average jet length increase of approximately 85.9% compared to 14 L/min. Too much gas flow rate will hinder the development of the jet, while the high-velocity airflow will have a cooling effect on the flame temperature. Highlights The forming interface is the weak link of thermoplastic composite complex structures. To explore the effect of polymer crosslinking on the failure behavior of thermoplastic composite remelting interface using “Preforming + Remelting bonding” process, the all‐atom models of different types of interfaces were established, and a molecular dynamics (MD) simulation was conducted on the uniaxial tensile failure process of the remelting interface. The failure behavior of the remelting interface with different preforming processes was tested to verify the correctness of MD simulation, and the influencing mechanism of polymer crosslinking reactions in the preforming stage to the remelting interface properties was clarified. The results showed that the yield stress of the uncrosslinked interface reaches 283.2 MPa and 16.0% and 50.6% higher than that of the unilateral and bilateral crosslinked interfaces respectively. The polymer crosslinking reaction during the preforming stage will reduce the interlaminar bonding performance. The interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of the uncrosslinked interface is 87.46 MPa and 7.21% and 27.36% higher than that of the unilateral and bilateral crosslinked interface respectively, and only 3.95% lower than that of the non‐remelting sample formed by standard process. This research provides a new approach for predicting and analyzing the effect of polymer crosslinking on remelting interface properties of thermoplastic composite using “Preforming + Remelting bonding” process. The failure behavior of different thermoplastic composite remelting interfaces was studied. MD simulation was conducted on the uniaxial tensile failure process of the remelting interface. Secondary batteries have been widespread in the daily life causing an ever-growing demand for long-cycle lifespan and high-energy alkali-ion batteries. As an essential constituent part, electrode materials with superior electrochemical properties play a vital role in the battery systems. Here, an outstanding electrode of yolk-shell ZnS@C nanorods is developed, introducing considerable void space via a self-sacrificial template method. Such carbon encapsulated nanorods moderate integral electronic conductivity, thus ensuring rapid alkali-ions/electrons transporting. Furthermore, the porous structure of these nanorods endows enough void space to mitigate volume stress caused by the insertion/extraction of alkali-ions. Due to the unique structure, these yolk-shell ZnS@C nanorods achieve superior rate performance and cycling performance (740 mAh g-1 at 1.0 A g-1 after 540 cycles) for lithium-ion batteries. As a potassium-ion batteries anode, they achieve an ultra-long lifespan delivering 211.1 mAh g-1 at 1.0 A g-1 after 5700 cycles. The kinetic analysis reveals that these ZnS@C nanorods with considerable pseudocapacitive contribution benefit the fast lithiation/delithiation. Detailed transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses indicate that such yolk-shell ZnS@C anode is a typical reversible conversion reaction mechanism accomplished by alloying processes. • Europium-containing polystyrene nanosphere is used in NMR diagnostics system for multiplexed, quantitative and rapid analysis of pathogens. • A low-cost homemade NMR portable platform is developed using field programmable gate array. • The Europium-containing polystyrene nanosphere-based NMR platform can rapidly detect pathogens in native biological samples, with higher detection sensitivity, broader detection range, and better stability than the conventional iron oxide nanoparticle-based NMR platforms. • A microcontact printing method is demonstrated for low-cost Ag microcoils based NMR probe fabrication. The use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) platforms to detect biological samples via magnetic nanoparticles has shown great importance in clinical applications. In numerous studies, superparamagnetic nanoparticles, including ferromagnetic nanoparticles, have been adopted to improve the performance of magnetic nanoparticles. Here we developed a simple and novel europium (Eu)-containing polystyrene nanosphere (PS NS)-based NMR system for rapid pathogen detection in clinical samples. Using this proposed portable NMR diagnostic system, we found that during pathogen detection, NPs with lower susceptibility (e.g., Eu-containing PS NSs) produced an unexpected detection effect compared with iron oxide NPs. Our Eu-containing PS NS-based NMR diagnostic system showed higher detection sensitivity, broader detection range, and higher stability than conventional iron oxide NP-based NMR platforms do. Using an inexpensive microcontact-printed Ag microcoil-based NMR probe, we demonstrated unprecedented detection sensitivity and speed with minimal sample preparation for pathogen analyses. The sample concentration of 0.2 ng/mL of hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg) and 10 CFU/mL of Clostridium difficile can be attained by the NMR diagnostic system within 5 s, and concentration-detection ranges spanned over three orders of magnitude. With advantages of low-cost NMR probe, a portable instrument, and convenient operation, our proposed NMR platform may provide a promising point-of-care diagnostic system in clinical applications. Harmful algae blooms (HABs) can have significant adverse effects on coastal ecosystems and aquaculture resiliency. We collected samples from March to August at eight different stations in Haizhou Bay (China), a region with a high frequency of HABs, and used Illumina Novaseq high-throughput sequencing and multivariate statistical analysis to characterize the bacterial communities and their relationships with different environmental factors. We identified 27 phyla, 49 classes, 158 orders, 294 families, and 522 genera. Gammaproteobacteria, Alphaproteobacteria, Bacteroidia, Acidimicrobiia, Bacilli, Actinobacteria, Cyanobacteria, Clostridia, and Acidobacteria were the most abundant classes, and Acidobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, Chloroflexi, Proteobacteria, and Cyanobacteria were the keystone phyla. Based on the Mantel test and redundancy analysis, temperature was the main environmental factor affecting the structure of the bacterial communities, followed by silicate, dissolved organic phosphorus (DOP), and dissolved oxygen (DO). Among the genera with high OTU abundance, Nautella was co-related positively with DO and negatively with salinity; Planktomarina was co-related positively with salinity and negatively with nitrate and nitrite. Certain families (Flavobacteriaceae, Rhodobacteraceae, and Clade_I (SAR11 clade)) and genera (Methylophaga, Alteromonas, Oleiphilus, Marinobacter, Bacillus, Nautella, and Vibrio) had associations with phytoplankton species that were responsible for HABs. This research provides new insights into the characteristics of the bacterial communities that occur in coastal areas that have HABs and provides detailed descriptions of the spatial and temporal changes in the structure of these communities. Abstract Glasses can be generated by two basic strategies of melt quenching and crystal damage. However, questions regarding the similarity and difference of the glasses, in particular, their relation needs to be clarified. Here, a direct comparison of the enthalpic behaviors of the glass transition is presented in molecular glasses produced by melt quenching and ball milling. The absence of an overshoot in the upscan glass-transition heat capacity C p curves of the milled glasses of distinct energy levels is commonly observed. The overshoot can be retrieved by either aging at temperatures below the glass transition in the milled glasses, or by heating-cooling-heating cycles around the glass transition. Heating the milled glasses can basically arrive at the same supercooled liquids as the melt-quenched glass. A strong dependence of the glass-transition C p overshoot intensity on the fictive temperature T f and the non-exponential parameter β is suggested in the milled glasses. Alloying with Se has been recently found to be an effective way to improve the cycling performance because the reduced-Se formations can act as a buffer matrix against the volume change of electrode for IVA materials or anchors S in Li-S batteries during cycling. In this paper, SnSe nanoparticles were dispersed within a carbon fiber matrix with ball milling and electrospinning methods. The uniform nano-architecture with SnSe nanoparticles homogeneously confined in the carbon matrix, which is revealed by X-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscope, provides a stable buffer and good electrical conductor for the lithiation/delithiation process. Moreover, Se-based phase acts as an additional stabilizer to alleviate Sn agglomeration during cycling. Such dual-buffered SnSe/C composites thus deliver large reversible capacity of 840 mAh/g with ultrastable cycling performance over 100 cycles and demonstrate good rate capacity. The forming interface is the weak link of complex thermoplastic composite structures. Aiming at the bottleneck problem of "weak bonding" at the remelting interface for the "Prefabricating + Remelting bonding" forming process of stiffened structures, through a combination of molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and experimental verification, a study was conducted on the influence of different prefabricating systems on the remelting bonding performance in the subsequent process. The results showed that prolonged high-temperature melting would lead to resin crosslinking reactions in the prefabricating stage and affect the remelting interface's molecular diffusion and penetration. Establishing a time-temperature condition function for the resin not to undergo crosslinking reaction during the prefabricating stage, the negative impact of the prefabricating process on the remelting bonding quality was reduced effectively, which provides theoretical and technical support for the high-quality manufacturing of complex thermoplastic composite structures. The Yellow River delta in China is one of the most active regions of land-ocean interaction. It has suffered serious salinization due to drying-up of the Yellow River, rising sea level, and seashore erosion, and thus represents a special and extreme environment. We evaluated the microeukaryotic molecular diversity and its response to change of seasons and environmental variables, in particular salinity in the soil of the Yellow River delta, by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) and gene sequencing. The sequencing of the microeukaryotic DGGE bands revealed the presence of diverse groups dominated by protists in particular ciliates. We further recovered a high diversity of marine and soil ciliates inhabiting in coastal soil using the ciliate-specific DGGE. The neighbor-joining tree indicated that the ciliate 18S r DNA sequences from high-salinity soil were affiliated to Colpodea, Spirotrichea, Litostomatea, and Oligohymenophorea, while all the sequences unique to the low-salinity soil were affiliated to Colpodea. Statistical analysis indicated that the microeukaryotic molecular diversity was significantly different among sites, while statistically indistinguishable among seasons. Abstract: The fate and transport of toxic metal ions and radionuclides in the environment is generally controlled by adsorption reactions. The removal of 63Ni(II) from wastewaters by γ-Al2O3 was studied as a function of various environmental parameters such as shaking time, pH, ionic strength, foreign ions, and humic substances under ambient conditions. The results indicated that the adsorption of 63Ni(II) on γ-Al2O3 was strongly dependent on pH and ionic strength. At low pH, the adsorption of 63Ni(II) was dominated by outer-sphere surface complexation and ion exchange with Na+/H+ on γ-Al2O3 surfaces, whereas inner-sphere surface complexation was the main adsorption mechanism at high pH. The Langmuir and Freundlich models were used to simulate the adsorption isotherms of 63Ni(II) at three different temperatures of 298.15, 323.15 and 343.15K. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔH°, ΔS° and ΔG°) calculated from the temperature dependent adsorption isotherms indicated that the adsorption process of 63Ni(II) on γ-Al2O3 was endothermic and spontaneous. For the past few years, a new generation of energy storage systems with large theoretical specific capacity has been urgently needed because of the rapid development of society. Lithium–sulfur (Li−S) batteries are regarded as one of the most promising candidates for novel battery systems, since their resurgence at the end of the 20th century Li−S batteries have attracted ever more attention, attributed to their notably high theoretical energy density of 2600 W h kg−1, which is almost five times larger than that of commercial lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs). One of the determining factors in Li−S batteries is how to design/prepare the sulfur cathode. For the sulfur host, the major technical challenge is avoiding the shuttling effect that is caused by soluble polysulfides during the reaction. In past decades, though the sulfur cathode has developed greatly, there are still some enormous challenges to be conquered, such as low utilization of S, rapid decay of capacity, and poor cycle life. This article spotlights the recent progress and foremost findings in improving the performance of Li−S batteries by employing multifunctional metal phosphides as host materials. The current state of development of the sulfur electrode of Li−S batteries is summarized by emphasizing the relationship between the essential properties of metal phosphide‐based hybrid nanomaterials, the chemical reaction with lithium polysulfides and the latter′s influence on electrochemical performance. Lithium–sulfur batteries have ultra–high energy density and are considered to be one of the most promising energy storage systems among all battery systems. However, due to various thorny problems, their commercial production has not yet been realized. The current experimental research normally lacks a systematic investigation into the conversion mechanism of the sulfur cathode from the electronic structure level. Actually, there is still a lack of powerful theoretical guidance for the design of high–performance Li–S batteries and the selection of modified materials still seems blind. In this article, with the chelated Fe‐polyvinyl pyrrolidone as the precursor, a series of Fe–based materials (e.g., Fe3O4@C, FeS@C, Fe3N@C) are synthesized as modified layers for battery separators, and the performance differences between them are systematically studied. It is found that the d–p band center model developed based on the d band center can reasonably combine the reaction potential of Li2S4 and performance differences. Simultaneously, the interaction between Li2S6 and the adsorption interface is simulated by ab initio molecular dynamics. Lignin bio-valorization is an emerging field of applied biotechnology and has not yet been studied at low temperatures. Paraburkholderia aromaticivorans AR20-38 was examined for its potential to degrade six selected lignin monomers (syringic acid, p-coumaric acid, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, ferulic acid, vanillic acid, benzoic acid) from different upper funneling aromatic pathways. The strain degraded four of these compounds at 10°C, 20°C, and 30°C; syringic acid and vanillic acid were not utilized as sole carbon source. The degradation of 5 mM and 10 mM ferulic acid was accompanied by the stable accumulation of high amounts of the value-added product vanillic acid (85–89% molar yield; 760 and 1540 mg l−1, respectively) over the whole temperature range tested. The presence of essential genes required for reactions in the upper funneling pathways was confirmed in the genome. This is the first report on biodegradation of lignin monomers and the stable vanillic acid production at low and moderate temperatures by P. aromaticivorans. Recently, Li‐ion batteries (LIBs) have attracted extensive attention owing to their wide applications in portable and flexible electronic devices. Such a huge market for LIBs has caused an ever‐increasing demand for excellent mechanical flexibility, outstanding cycling life, and electrodes with superior rate capability. Herein, an anode of self‐supported Fe3O4@C nanotubes grown on carbon fabric cloth (CFC) is designed rationally and fabricated through an in situ etching and deposition route combined with an annealing process. These carbon‐coated nanotube structured Fe3O4 arrays with large surface area and enough void space can not only moderate the volume variation during repeated Li+ insertion/extraction, but also facilitate Li+/electrons transportation and electrolyte penetration. This novel structure endows the Fe3O4@C nanotube arrays stable cycle performance (a large reversible capacity of 900 mA h g−1 up to 100 cycles at 0.5 A g−1) and outstanding rate capability (reversible capacities of 1030, 985, 908, and 755 mA h g−1 at 0.15, 0.3, 0.75, and 1.5 A g−1, respectively). Fe3O4@C nanotube arrays still achieve a capacity of 665 mA h g−1 after 50 cycles at 0.1 A g−1 in Fe3O4@C//LiCoO2 full cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ultra-low-loss and large-effective-area fiber has been successfully applied in transoceanic transmission, which is considered as a promising candidate for 100 Gbit/s and beyond 100 Gbit/s coherent long-haul terrestrial optical networks. Several theoretical and experimental investigations have been reported, including provincial terrestrial field trial. To support long-haul terrestrial application, it is urgent to prove that the ultra-low-loss and large-effective-area fiber after terrestrial deployment can significantly enhance the performance of long-haul transmission over 1000 km compared with the conventional single mode fiber. In this paper, we extended our previous work and summarized design methods for complex terrestrial environment. To verify the fiber characteristics in long-haul terrestrial transmission, we installed the longest terrestrial ultra-low-loss and large-effective-area fiber link in the world with a total length of 1539.6 km. The results show that the transmission performances of wavelength-division-multiplexed signals with per-channel data rates of 100 Gbit/s, 200 Gbit/s, and 400 Gbit/s over the ultra-low-loss and large-effective-area fiber are all obviously improved, demonstrating that this fiber is more suitable for ultrahigh-speed long-haul terrestrial transmission. Sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) have attracted much attention due to their abundance, easy accessibility, and low cost. All of these advantages make them potential candidates for large‐scale energy storage. The P2‐type layered transition‐metal oxides (NaxTMO2; TM=Mn, Co, Ni, Ti, Fe, V, Cr, and a mixture of multiple elements) exhibit good Na+ ion conductivity and structural stability, which make them an excellent choice for the cathode materials of SIBs. Herein, the structural evolution, anionic redox reaction, some challenges, and recent progress of NaxTMO2 cathodes for SIBs are reviewed and summarized. Moreover, a detailed understanding of the relationship of chemical components, structures, phase compositions, and electrochemical performance is presented. In the study, Polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films were prepared by the ultraviolet (UV)-induced polymerisation from the composites of nematic liquid crystal (LC)/thiol/acrylate. The effects of the content of LC/thiol/acrylate and the UV intensity on the morphology of polymer network and the electro-optical properties of the PDLC films were investigated. It was demonstrated that the crosslinking density of the polymer network increases with the decreasing content of LC/thiol and the enhancing UV intensity. And the electro-optical properties of the PDLC could be regulated by the crosslinking density of the polymer network. It is suggested that at the lower of LC content there is possibility to achieve both lower driven voltage and the higher CR, which can save massive cost on production of PDLC. Meanwhile it illustrates subsequently that the introduction of the thiol and the optimisation of UV intensity can further lessen the driven voltage. The structures of the liquid crystal (LC) molecules have a key role in impacting the electro-optical performance of a polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) film. In this paper, the relationship between the LC molecular structures and the electro-optical properties of PDLC films is investigated based on an unexplored cyano-terminated tolane compounds (CTTCs) doped E8 LCs/UV polymers system. Due to the high polarity of CTTCs, LCs doped with the cyano-terminated tolane (CTT) molecules exhibit high birefringence and large positive dielectric anisotropy. On the whole, PDLC films doped with the CTT molecules exhibit a lower driving voltage than that doped with the pure E8. More excitingly, PDLC films based on CTT molecules with larger length-to-width ratio and longer conjugated system show higher contrast ratio (CR) and faster response time. Eventually, the mechanism of the effects of CTT-based molecular structures and the relationship between the electro-optical performance of PDLC films and CTT molecules are illustrated. The mechanical property of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) -metal adhesive joint is easily affected by the different temperature-humidity. In this paper, the failure mechanism of the joint was explored from the joint components (bonding substrates, adhesive and interfaces) to the integral joint in aging environment. It was found that the main factors affecting the property of joint components are different CTE (coefficient of thermal expansion) of adjacent materials, the metal corrosion and the molecular group/chain state. Meanwhile, the polymer property showed the irregular changes during the aging process, and it was discussed from the positive and negative efforts caused by environment. Besides, the fracture surface was selected to study the failure mechanism of the integral joint, and a mixture of different failure modes called as "mixed failure" was suggested. Finally, based on the failure mechanism and mixed failure mode, the approaches for improving the mechanical performance were summarized and a multi-stage strengthening mechanism was given from multi-component and multi-scale. We detected tumor-associated aberrant hypermethylation of the p16 gene in plasma DNA from 105 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients (65 squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and 40 adenocarcinoma (ADC)) and 92 matched tumor DNA samples, using a modified semi-nested methylation-specific PCR (MSP). This technique increased the sensibility of detecting p16 hypermethylation from DNA samples in varying stages. p16 hypermethylation was present in 73.3% (77/105) of the plasma samples, and 79.3% (73/92) of the tumor samples. Among those cases with methylated p16 sequence in tumor samples, 87.7% (64/73) also demonstrated this epigenetic alteration in the corresponding plasma DNA. Only patients whose tumor cells had hypermethylated p16 gene exhibited aberrant methylation in their plasma samples. Regarding different clinical stages of SCC and ADC, the frequencies of p16 hypermethylation in plasma DNA were nearly the same as those in corresponding tumors, except for stage I ADC. Our study indicated that aberrant methylation of p16 may be an excellent biomarker for early diagnosis and follow-up of NSCLC patients, and MSP is a reliable method for these purposes. In the present study, we used 22 microsatellite markers flanking to or within 13 known or candidate tumor suppressor genes (TSGs) to detect loss of heterozygosity (LOH) in these chromosomal regions among 41 cases of non-small cell lung cancer, including 28 squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and 13 adenocarcinoma (ADC). The studied TSGs comprised FHIT, VHL, APC, PRLTS, p16, IFNA, PTEN, p57, ATM, p53, BRCA1, DPC4 and DCC. Our data demonstrated frequent allelic losses of FHIT, p53, IFNA, VHL and p16 in both SCC and ADC. PTEN and ATM showed the least frequency of LOH, while no deletion of BRCA1 was detected in all tumor samples. LOH analysis of PRLTS was extended to 26 cases of ADC, which demonstrated significantly higher frequency of LOH than SCC. Our data indicated a possible correlation between specific TSG(s) and either histological type of lung cancer, and more attention should be paid to the PRLTS gene, which might play an important role in the development of ADC. The cathode, a crucial constituent part of Li-ion batteries, determines the output voltage and integral energy density of batteries to a great extent. Among them, Ni-rich LiNixCoyMnzO2 (x + y + z = 1, x ≥ 0.6) layered transition metal oxides possess a higher capacity and lower cost as compared to LiCoO2, which have stimulated widespread interests. However, the wide application of Ni-rich cathodes is seriously hampered by their poor diffusion dynamics and severe voltage drops. To moderate these problems, a nanobrick Ni-rich layered LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 cathode with a preferred orientation (110) facet was designed and successfully synthesized via a modified co-precipitation route. The galvanostatic intermittent titration technique (GITT) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) analysis of LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 reveal its superior kinetic performance endowing outstanding rate performance and long-term cycle stability, especially the voltage drop being as small as 67.7 mV at a current density of 0.5 C for 200 cycles. Due to its unique architecture, dramatically shortened ion/electron diffusion distance, and more unimpeded Li-ion transmission pathways, the current nanostructured LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 cathode enhances the Li-ion diffusion dynamics and suppresses the voltage drop, thus resulting in superior electrochemical performance.
