The extended principle of superposition has been a touchstone of spin glass dynamics for almost thirty years. The Uppsala group has demonstrated its validity for the metallic spin glass, CuMn, for magnetic fields $H$ up to 10 Oe at the reduced temperature $T_\mathrm{r}=T/T_\mathrm{g} = 0.95$, where $T_\mathrm{g}$ is the spin glass condensation temperature. For $H > 10$ Oe, they observe a departure from linear response which they ascribe to the development of non-linear dynamics. The thrust of this paper is to develop a microscopic origin for this behavior by focusing on the time development of the spin glass correlation length, $\xi(t,t_\mathrm{w};H)$. Here, $t$ is the time after $H$ changes, and $t_\mathrm{w}$ is the time from the quench for $T>T_\mathrm{g}$ to the working temperature $T$ until $H$ changes. We connect the growth of $\xi(t,t_\mathrm{w};H)$ to the barrier heights $\Delta(t_\mathrm{w})$ that set the dynamics. The effect of $H$ on the magnitude of $\Delta(t_\mathrm{w})$ is responsible for affecting differently the two dynamical protocols associated with turning $H$ off (TRM, or thermoremanent magnetization) or on (ZFC, or zero field-cooled magnetization). In this paper, we display the difference between the zero-field cooled $\xi_{\text {ZFC}}(t,t_\mathrm{w};H)$ and the thermoremanent magnetization $\xi_{\text {TRM}}(t,t_\mathrm{w};H)$ correlation lengths as $H$ increases, both experimentally and through numerical simulations, corresponding to the violation of the extended principle of superposition in line with the finding of the Uppsala Group., Comment: 23 pages and 18 figures

The synergy between experiment, theory, and simulations enables a microscopic analysis of spin-glass dynamics in a magnetic field in the vicinity of and below the spin-glass transition temperature $T_\mathrm{g}$. The spin-glass correlation length, $\xi(t,t_\mathrm{w};T)$, is analysed both in experiments and in simulations in terms of the waiting time $t_\mathrm{w}$ after the spin glass has been cooled down to a stabilised measuring temperature $T

The correlation length $\xi$, a key quantity in glassy dynamics, can now be precisely measured for spin glasses both in experiments and in simulations. However, known analysis methods lead to discrepancies either for large external fields or close to the glass temperature. We solve this problem by introducing a scaling law that takes into account both the magnetic field and the time-dependent spin-glass correlation length. The scaling law is successfully tested against experimental measurements in a CuMn single crystal and against large-scale simulations on the Janus II dedicated computer., Comment: Revised version, including supplemental material

Condensed Matter - Disordered Systems and Neural Networks - Abstract
The growth of the spin-glass correlation length has been measured as a function of the waiting time $t_{\mathrm{w}}$ on a single crystal of CuMn (6 at.\%), reaching values $\xi\sim 150$ nm, larger than any other glassy correlation-length measured to date. We find an aging rate $\mathrm{d}\ln\,t_{\mathrm{w}}/\mathrm{d}\ln\,\xi$ larger than found in previous measurements, which evinces a dynamic slowing-down as $\xi$ grows. Our measured aging rate is compared with simulation results by the Janus collaboration. After critical effects are taken into account, we find excellent agreement with the Janus data., Comment: Version accepted in PRB (see https://journals.aps.org/prb/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevB.100.094202)

Astrophysics - High Energy Astrophysical Phenomena - Abstract
The optical observations of Ic-4 supernova (SN) 2016coi/ASASSN-16fp, from $\sim 2$ to $\sim450$ days after explosion, are presented along with analysis of its physical properties. The SN shows the broad lines associated with SNe Ic-3/4 but with a key difference. The early spectra display a strong absorption feature at $\sim 5400$ \AA\ which is not seen in other SNe~Ic-3/4 at this epoch. This feature has been attributed to He I in the literature. Spectral modelling of the SN in the early photospheric phase suggests the presence of residual He in a C/O dominated shell. However, the behaviour of the He I lines are unusual when compared with He-rich SNe, showing relatively low velocities and weakening rather than strengthening over time. The SN is found to rise to peak $\sim 16$ d after core-collapse reaching a bolometric luminosity of Lp $\sim 3\times10^{42}$ \ergs. Spectral models, including the nebular epoch, show that the SN ejected $2.5-4$ \msun\ of material, with $\sim 1.5$ \msun\ below 5000 \kms, and with a kinetic energy of $(4.5-7)\times10^{51}$ erg. The explosion synthesised $\sim 0.14$ \msun\ of 56Ni. There are significant uncertainties in E(B-V)host and the distance however, which will affect Lp and MNi. SN 2016coi exploded in a host similar to the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) and away from star-forming regions. The properties of the SN and the host-galaxy suggest that the progenitor had $M_\mathrm{ZAMS}$ of $23-28$ \msun\ and was stripped almost entirely down to its C/O core at explosion., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS. The current study aims to develop and externally validate an early prediction mortality model that can be used to identify high-risk patients with acute aortic syndrome in the emergency department.Patients and Methods: This retrospective multi-center observational study enrolled 1088 patients with acute aortic syndrome admitted to the emergency departments of two hospitals in China between January 2017 and March 2021 for model development. A total of 210 patients with acute aortic syndrome admitted to the emergency departments of Peking University Third Hospital between January 2007 and December 2021 was enrolled for model validation. Demographics and clinical factors were collected at the time of emergency department admission. The predictive variables were determined by referring to the results of previous studies and the baseline analysis of this study. The study’s endpoint was in-hospital death. To assess internal validity, we used a fivefold cross-validation method. Model performance was validated internally and externally by evaluating model discrimination using the area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve (AUC). A nomogram was developed based on the binary regression results. Results: In the development cohort, 1088 patients with acute aortic syndromes were included, and 88 (8.1%) patients died during hospitalization. In the validation cohort, 210 patients were included, and 20 (9.5%) patients died during hospitalization. The final model included the following variables: digestive system symptoms (OR=2.25; P=0.024), any pulse deficit (OR=7.78; P< 0.001), creatinine (μmol/L)(OR=1.00; P=0.018), lesion extension to iliac vessels (OR=4.49; P< 0.001), pericardial effusion (OR=2.67; P=0.008), and Stanford type A (OR=10.46; P< 0.001). The model’s AUC was 0.838 (95% CI 0.784– 0.892) in the development cohort and 0.821 (95% CI 0.750– 0.891) in the validation cohort, and the Hosmer–Lemeshow test showed p=0.597. The fivefold cross-validation demonstrated a mean accuracy of 0.94, a mean precision of 0.67, and a mean recall of 0.13.Conclusion: This risk prediction tool uses simple variables to provide robust prediction of the risk of in-hospital death from acute aortic syndrome and validated well in an independent cohort. The tool can help emergency clinicians quickly identify high-risk acute aortic syndrome patients, although further studies are needed for verifying the prospective data and the results of our study. Keywords: acute aortic syndrome, risk prediction model, emergency department

ETP tumor cells that express cross-lineage antigens or lack pan T markers usually pose big challenges to diagnosis, and their prognostic implications are therefore more uncertain. This study reports the unique case of a 44-year-old woman with breast mass as the initial presentation of acute leukemia possessing both T- and B-cell features (cytoplasmic CD3+CD7+CD19+CD79a+). Despite the presence of gene rearrangements of IGH and IGK probably in a small amount of B cells, the patient was diagnosed with T-ALL mainly according to WHO criteria, and further ETP-ALL rather than mixed phenotype ALL based on additional positive expression of stem/myeloid lineage antigens (CD34+CD13+CD33+HLA-DR+). Moreover, in spite of normal karyotype, SET-NUP214 gene fusion is identified, which has not been described in ETP-ALL with bi-phenotype. After intensive chemotherapy, the patient achieved short-term morphologic complete remission but relapsed within one month. This report may expand immunophenotype and clinical behavior of ETP-ALL in adults. Comprehensive evaluations are emphasized in making a differential diagnosis and distinguishing subtypes of acute leukemia. Keywords: adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia, early T-cell precursor, mixed phenotype acute leukemia, breast infiltration, SET-NUP214 fusion gene

Various efforts have been made to provide insights into regulating immune checkpoint molecule programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1) expression to improve ICIs efficacy. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect and potential mechanism of miR-200c nanoparticles combined with radiotherapy in gastric cancer cells. Methods: We prepared miR-200c-loaded nanoparticles (miR-200c NPs) to achieve targeted delivery of miR-200c to AGS cells. The roles of miR-200c NPs and radiotherapy in regulating the viability of AGS cells were assessed by CCK-8 toxicity test and Annexin V-FITC/PI apoptosis kit. Flow cytometry was used to analyze expression of PD-L1 and CD44 on the surface of AGS cells treated by miR-200c NPs and/or ionizing radiation. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to test the level of transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β 1) secreted by AGS cells. The cooperation mechanism between miR-200c NPs and radiotherapy was also explored in vitro. Results: Compared with naked miR-200c mimics, miR-200c NPs significantly downregulated PD-L1 expression of gastric cancer cells. The combination of miR-200c NPs and radiotherapy showed significantly synergistic inhibitory effect on gastric cancer cells by inhibiting immune escape mediated by PD-L1, reversing EMT phenotype as well as abrogating cancer stem cells (CSCs)-associated properties of tumor cells. Conclusion: MiR-200c NPs sensitized gastric cancer cells to radiotherapy by regulating PD-L1 expression and EMT.Keywords: microRNA-200c, gastric cancer, nanoparticle, PD-L1, radiotherapy

The following inflammatory factors were measured in these participants: interleukin-2 [IL-2], IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, tumor necrosis factor-α [TNF-α], and interferon-γ [IFN-γ]. The National Institute of Health Stroke Scale score increase of ≥ 4 within 24 hours after EVT defined as early neurological deterioration (END).Results: Compared with patients without END, patients with END had a higher incidence of atrial fibrillation (P=0.012), and also had higher levels of IL-6 and IL-10 (P< 0.01). Furthermore, we found that the area under the curves (AUCs) of IL-6 and IL-10 for predicting END were 0.768 (0.697– 0.829), and 0.647 (0.570– 0.719), respectively. Adjusting for age, sex, and atrial fibrillation, the odds ratios (ORs; 95% confidence interval) for incident END for IL-6 and IL-10 were 1.98 (1.05– 6.69) and 1.18 (1.04– 1.33), respectively. Additionally, we found significant changes over time in the expression levels of IL-4, IL-6, and IL-10 in patients with END compared with patients without END (P< 0.05).Conclusion: IL-6 and IL-10 levels at admission may be potential markers of END after EVT, and the time course of IL-4, IL-6, and IL-10 is correlated with stroke progression. Further larger studies are needed to confirm the current findings.Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov NCT04175691. International audience; The effect of nanoscale intragranular premature κ-carbide precipitates, having an ordered structure but without chemical partitioning, on the incipient plasticity behavior of austenite in Fe-Mn-Al-(Cr)-C low-density steels was investigated by nanoindentation. We found that the incipient plasticity was dominated by a heterogeneous dislocation nucleation mechanism via atom-vacancy exchange. Although the content of κ-carbide decreased with Cr addition, its negligible effect on incipient plasticity strength was witnessed by the slightly increased shear stress for dislocation nucleation. Comparatively, the increased interstitial C atoms with Cr content in austenite enhanced lattice cohesions which impeded the nucleation events by increasing the requisite shear stress. IMPACT STATEMENT Despite being one of the most important strengthening phases, nanoscale premature κ-carbide precipitates surprisingly have a negligible effect on incipient plasticity of austenite in Fe-Mn-Al-(Cr)-C low-density steels.

- Abstract
Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common type of malignant brain tumor, among which IDH1-wild type GBM has a poor prognosis. Recent studies have shown that ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) are correlated with the development and progression of cancer. In GBM, the role of FRGs associated with IDH1 status as biological indicators and therapeutic targets remains to be clarified. Ten of FRGs (STEAP3, HSPB1, MAP1LC3A, SOCS1, LOX, CAPG, CP, GDF15, CDKN1A, and CD44) associated with IDH1 status in GBM were identified as key genes through screening by survival analysis and Random Forest using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) datasets, and the protein expressions of key genes were verified. Transwell and qPCR results showed that ferroptosis promoted the migration of glioblastoma cells and affected the expression of key genes. Our study established the ferroptosis-related prognostic model for GBM patients based on ten key genes by a different modeling method from previous study, the GSVA algorithm. Further, we took the methods of functional enrichment analysis, clinical characteristics, immune cell infiltration, immunomodulator, ESTIMATE and single nucleotide variant (SNV) analysis to study the molecular mechanisms of prognostic model and key genes. The results showed that ten key genes were strongly associated with immune-related factors and were significantly involved in the p53 signaling pathway, senescence and autophagy in cancer, and in the negative regulation of protein kinase activity. Moreover, potential therapeutic drugs were identified by Virtual Screening and Molecular Docking. Our study indicated that the novel ferrotosis-related prognostic model for GBM patients and key genes possessed the prognostic and therapeutic values.

- Abstract
Background: Urine output is widely used as one of the criteria for the diagnosis and staging of acute renal failure, but few studies have specifically assessed the role of oliguria as a marker of acute renal failure or outcomes in general intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Using a large multinational database, we therefore evaluated the occurrence of oliguria (defined as a urine output < 0.5 ml/kg/h) in acutely ill patients and its association with the need for renal replacement therapy (RRT) and outcome. Methods: International observational study. All adult (> 16 years) patients in the ICON audit who had a urine output measurement on the day of admission were included. To investigate the association between oliguria and mortality, we used a multilevel analysis. Results: Of the 8292 patients included, 2050 (24.7%) were oliguric during the first 24 h of admission. Patients with oliguria on admission who had at least one additional 24-h urine output recorded during their ICU stay (n = 1349) were divided into three groups: transient - oliguria resolved within 48 h after the admission day (n = 390 [28.9%]), prolonged - oliguria resolved > 48 h after the admission day (n = 141 [10.5%]), and permanent - oliguria persisting for the whole ICU stay or again present at the end of the ICU stay (n = 818 [60.6%]). ICU and hospital mortality rates were higher in patients with oliguria than in those without, except for patients with transient oliguria who had significantly lower mortality rates than non-oliguric patients. In multilevel analysis, the need for RRT was associated with a significantly higher risk of death (OR = 1.51 [95% CI 1.19-1.91], p = 0.001), but the presence of oliguria on admission was not (OR = 1.14 [95% CI 0.97-1.34], p = 0.103). Conclusions: Oliguria is common in ICU patients and may have a relatively benign nature if only transient. The duration of oliguria and need for RRT are associated with worse outcome.

BackgroundUrine output is widely used as one of the criteria for the diagnosis and staging of acute renal failure, but few studies have specifically assessed the role of oliguria as a marker of acute renal failure or outcomes in general intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Using a large multinational database, we therefore evaluated the occurrence of oliguria (defined as a urine output 16 years) patients in the ICON audit who had a urine output measurement on the day of admission were included. To investigate the association between oliguria and mortality, we used a multilevel analysis.ResultsOf the 8292 patients included, 2050 (24.7%) were oliguric during the first 24 h of admission. Patients with oliguria on admission who had at least one additional 24-h urine output recorded during their ICU stay (n = 1349) were divided into three groups: transient—oliguria resolved within 48 h after the admission day (n = 390 [28.9%]), prolonged—oliguria resolved > 48 h after the admission day (n = 141 [10.5%]), and permanent—oliguria persisting for the whole ICU stay or again present at the end of the ICU stay (n = 818 [60.6%]). ICU and hospital mortality rates were higher in patients with oliguria than in those without, except for patients with transient oliguria who had significantly lower mortality rates than non-oliguric patients. In multilevel analysis, the need for RRT was associated with a significantly higher risk of death (OR = 1.51 [95% CI 1.19–1.91], p = 0.001), but the presence of oliguria on admission was not (OR = 1.14 [95% CI 0.97–1.34], p = 0.103).ConclusionsOliguria is common in ICU patients and may have a relatively benign nature if only transient. The duration of oliguria and need for RRT are associated with worse outcome., 0, info:eu-repo/semantics/published

Purpose: To investigate age-related differences in outcomes of critically ill patients with sepsis around the world., Methods: We performed a secondary analysis of data from the prospective ICON audit, in which all adult ( >16 years ) patients admitted to participating ICUs between May 8 and 18, 2012, were included, except admissions for routine postoperative observation. For this sub-analysis, the 10,012 patients with completed age data were included. They were divided into five age groups - 80 years. Sepsis was defined as infection plus at least one organ failure., Results: A total of 2963 patients had sepsis, with similar proportions across the age groups (80 = 30.9%). Hospital mortality increased with age and in patients >80 years was almost twice that of patients 70 years was independently associated with increased risk of dying., Conclusions: The odds for death in ICU patients with sepsis increased with age with the maximal rate of increase occurring between the ages of 71 and 77 years. - Abstract
Statins are used in clinical practice to prevent from complications such as cerebral vasospasm (CVS) after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). However, the efficacy and safety of statins are still controversial due to insufficient evidence from randomized controlled trials and inconsistent results of the existing studies. This meta-analysis aimed to systematically review the latest evidence on the time window and complications of statins in aSAH. The randomized controlled trials in the databases of The Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, CNKI, and Wanfang from January 2005 to April 2021 were searched and analyzed systematically. Data analysis was performed using Stata version 16.0. The fixed-effects model (M-H method) with effect size risk ratio (RR) was used for subgroups with homogeneity, and the random-effects model (D-L method) with effect size odds ratio (OR) was used for subgroups with heterogeneity. The primary outcomes were poor neurological prognosis and all-cause mortality, and the secondary outcomes were cerebral vasospasm (CVS) and statin-related complications. This study was registered with PROSPERO (International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews; CRD42021247376). Nine studies comprising 1,464 patients were included. The Jadad score of the patients was 5–7. Meta-analysis showed that poor neurological prognosis was reduced in patients who took oral statins for 14 days (RR, 0.73 [0.55–0.97]; I2 = 0%). Surprisingly, the continuous use of statins for 21 days had no significant effect on neurological prognosis (RR, 1.04 [0.89–1.23]; I2 = 17%). Statins reduced CVS (OR, 0.51 [0.36–0.71]; I2 = 0%) but increased bacteremia (OR, 1.38 [1.01–1.89]; I2 = 0%). In conclusion, a short treatment course of statins over 2 weeks may improve neurological prognosis. Statins were associated with reduced CVS. Based on the pathophysiological characteristics of CVS and the evaluation of prognosis, 2 weeks could be the optimal time window for statin
