Abstract

The paper seeks to examine the relationship between competitive intelligence (CI) and crisis response of small and middle-sized business (SMB). Research showed that CI had all-right pre-warning capabilities to crisis. Based on the analyzing SMB's crises and crisis sources, this paper proposed a SMB's CI process of crisis pre-warning, which included many distinctive CI methods. Given the SMB's characters, a lot of effective suggestions to enhance SMB's pre-warning capability were put out. With the help of CI, SMB's could reduce negative impact of emergencies or even win additional opportunities.

Abstract

Market competition has turned fiercer as customers' demands keep on changing. In this environment, the competition among enterprises and supply chains, to a large extend, is a struggle for time and speed. Competitive intelligence would help enterprises to obtain competitive advantages of predicting, grasping and responding to customers' demands agilely through environment monitoring, early warning and information actions in sequence, etc. In this paper, we put forward the competitive mode of agile supply chain based on competitive intelligence for the first time. The competitive mode mainly includes the subsystems of information collecting, information analysis, intelligence forecasting, and intelligence service. The application of competitive intelligence in agile supply chain strengthens the competitive advantages of agile supply chain by improving the service level on the aspects of speed and accuracy.

38. Comparing digital libraries in the web and mobile contexts from the perspective of the digital divide.

Abstract

Building on concepts of the digital divide, this study explores and compares users’ perceptions of web digital libraries and mobile digital libraries in terms of ease of use and usefulness. Data collected from 306 university library users were analyzed. Two figures were used to present the exact nature of users’ perceptions of ease of use and usefulness in terms of data distribution. These figures were supplemented by the paired samples t test which presents the exact mean difference between web digital libraries and mobile digital libraries in terms of ease of use and usefulness. The data distribution suggests that there are more users who think digital libraries are both easy to use and useful whereas mobile digital libraries are neither easy to use nor useful. The mean comparison of ease of use and usefulness shows that web digital libraries significantly exceed mobile digital libraries. These findings and implications are discussed. Abstract

China is undergoing a transition from offline to online advertising, but little is known about the causal relationship regarding credibility transfer from non-web advertising to web advertising. Meanwhile, web advertising usage behaviour is largely overlooked. The purpose of this study is to explore the formation of customers' attitude towards web advertising (ATT) which further impacts their online information acquisition behaviour, from the perspectives of advertising value and credibility transfer. This paper develops a research model drawing upon advertising value, credibility transfer, ATT and tie. Data collected from Chinese online shopping customers were used to test the model. The results indicate that perceived informativeness, perceived entertainment and credibility contribute to the formation of ATT, which further impacts web advertising usage for getting information. Meanwhile, tie positively moderates the credibility transfer from non-web advertising to web advertising. These findings and their implications for theory and practice are discussed.
