In global health systems, clinicians have a challenging decision of a triage patient exposed to arbovirus infections to determine they should be hospitalized. Diagnosing symptoms and molecular testing can be uncertain and costly, especially in resource-limited settings. However, machine learning approaches have a high potential to determine through medical record examination whom to hospitalize. The purpose of this study is to determine hospitalized or outpatient individuals correctly by implementing shallow machine learning algorithms on SISA (Severity Index for Suspected Arbovirus) and SISAL (Severity Index for Suspected Arbovirus with Laboratory) datasets. Feed Forward Neural Network (FFNN), Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN), and Decision Tree (DecT) algorithm with three splitting criterions were used to process the SISA and SISAL datasets. The results of classification performances demonstrated that improved area under the curve scores (0.973) and accuracy (reaching up to 98.73% with FFNN) were obtained when compared with previous research study related to machine learning and arbovirus. Moreover, this study also aims to investigate gender recognition over arboviral infection medical records using recurrent neural network-based deep models. Hence vector control policy in the health system reflects the gender roles to control the spread of arboviral infection. Overall the outcomes are potentially very promising.

Superior ophthalmic vein thrombosis (SOVT) is a rare clinical entity that may be associated with sino-orbital disease. The clinical presentation of SOVT may include signs of venous congestion, such as unilateral ptosis, chemosis, ophthalmoplegia, and eyelid swelling, with or without fundus findings. This case report describes a case of SOVT associated with orbital cellulitis diagnosed with magnetic resonance imaging and treated using anticoagulant therapy, antibiotherapy, and a corticosteroid. In the presence of orbital cellulitis, clinicians should always keep the possibility of SOVT in mind, as it may result in mortality and visual loss if not diagnosed early and given appropriate treatment without delay.

Social media platforms such as Twitter have grown at a tremendous pace in recent years and have become an important source of data providing information countless field. This situation was of interest to researchers and many studies on machine learning and natural language processing was conducted on social media data. However, the language is used in social media contains a very high amount of noisy data than the formal writing language. In this article, we present a study on diacritic restoration which is one of the important difficulties of social media text normalization in order to reduce the noise problem. Diacritic is a set of marks used to change the sound values of letters and is used on many languages besides Turkish. We suggest a 3-step model for this study to overcome the top of the diacritic restoration problem. In the first step, a candidate word generator produces possible word forms, in the second step the language validator chooses the correct word forms and at the final Word2vec is used to create vector representations of the words and make the most appropriate word choice by using cosine similarities. The proposed method was tested on both the 2 ad-hoc created datasets and the real dataset. Studies on small ad-hoc created dataset and real dataset provided a relative error reduction of 37.8% with an average performance of 94.5%. In addition, tests on more than 6 M words on large ad-hoc created dataset yielded a serious performance with an error rate of 3.9%. Furthermore, the proposed method was tested on the binary classification problem consisting of highway traffic data in order to evaluate the effects on classification performance, and a 3.1% increase in classification performance was achieved. Coronary heart disease is an important health problem all over the world due to its high mortality and prevalence. Physical, social, psychological and occupational constraints affect individuals' quality of life and self-efficacy perceptions negatively and make difficult adaptation of treatment. Today, the importance of lifestyle changes is emphasized to control risk factors in coronary heart disease. The concept of "self-efficacy" has an important place in achieving and adapting lifestyle changes. Self-efficacy is defined as "the belief that one can initiate an action that can be effective on what is happening around him or her and continue until the outcome is achieved". It is seen that the evidence-based interventions implemented by health personnel are effective in reducing post-discharge complications, increasing the quality of life and self-efficacy levels, and adapting to lifestyle changes.

The total older population is growing due to the increase in expected average life expectancy at birth all over the world. The risk factors for dementia reported by the studies in Turkey include low level of education, older age, being female, living in a rural area, having a physical disorder, multiple drug use, accompaniment of another chronic disease (especially diabetes), and having a history of smoking and alcohol use. Seeking care from a healthcare institution because of dementia symptoms is usually delayed in Turkey. In this review, information on the status of dementia in Turkey, services provided for the illness and nursing care will be provided. Background & Aim: The number of cancer patients has been continuously increasing due to early diagnosis and the developments in cancer treatment. This has led to an increase in psychosocial problems associated with the diagnoses and treatment of cancer. Loneliness is emphasized to be one of the most frequently observed psychological symptoms in cancer patients. Personal and external factors that cause stress in life and insufficient social support increase the level of loneliness in patients. This systematic review aimed to determine the effect of education and social support provided to the patients diagnosed with cancer on their loneliness. Methods & Materials: This systematic review was prepared in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic review and Meta-Analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P) protocol. The databases of PubMed, CINAHL, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Ulakbim Turkish Medical Index, and Turk Medline were scanned to August 31, 2016, without a limitation of date. The keywords used during the scanning were “cancer and loneliness,” and “cancer patients and loneliness.” Five studies were included in this review keeping in consideration the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The results of the studies included in this systematic review revealed the positive effect of education and social support on the sense of loneliness observed in cancer patients. Three of five randomized controlled studies found that education and social support positively affected loneliness. Conclusion: The results of this review showed that the education and social support provided to cancer patients should be increased, and sociocultural factors should be considered while planning education and social support.

Abstract Background The body image of patients with cancer can be negatively affected due to treatment toxicities. Changes in body image may cause patients to experience social appearance anxiety. This study aimed to evaluate the body image and social appearance anxiety of patients with cancer undergoing radiotherapy. Methods The cross-sectional study was conducted with 153 patients with cancer undergoing radiotherapy in a university hospital. The data were collected with a Patient Information Form, the Body Image Scale, and the Social Appearance Anxiety Scale and the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group Skin Toxicity Criteria. Results Patients’ mean body image score was 15.18 ± 8.26 (min = 0, max = 30), mean social appearance anxiety score was 45.29 ± 14.50 (min = 16, max = 80). Schizophrenia is one of the most debilitating mental disorders. Auditory hallucinations, which are known to be closely related to interpersonal relationships, are the most common type of hallucinations observed in the course of schizophrenia. Virtual reality has been developing in various fields with the development of computerized technologies and has started to appear in the field of clinical psychology in the form of virtual reality therapies. Avatar therapy is among the interpersonal-based virtual reality therapy models that focus on auditory hallucinations among the symptoms of schizophrenia. The aim of avatar therapy is to enable the person to have control over auditory hallucinations. Within the scope of this review study; the past, present and future of schizophrenia treatment, effective intervention methods in the treatment of schizophrenia, virtual reality therapy, the main outlines of the avatar therapy model, the effectiveness studies of avatar therapy and ethical issues were discussed. The results of the research on the effectiveness of avatar therapy reveal the need for further research in this field.

Purpose: To investigate the peri-operative and early postoperative complications of deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) and to evaluate the learning curve needed to complete the DALK surgery. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 100 eyes in 100 patients who underwent the DALK procedure due to different corneal diseases. Preoperative demographic and clinical features were evaluated along with the perioperative and early postoperative complications during the first 3 months. Results: We performed the DALK procedure successfully in 83 patients (83%) and intra-operatively decided conversion to penetrating keratoplasty (PK) procedure in the other 17 eyes (17%). The rate of conversion to PK was 40% (10 eyes) in the first 25 cases, 8% (2 eyes) in the second 25 cases, 12% (3 eyes) in the third 25 cases, and 8% (2 eyes) in the last 25 cases. There was a big bubble formation in 65 eyes (65%). The most common intra-operative complication was Descemet's membrane perforation occurred in 26 (26%) of 100 patients, 11 of which were micro-perforation, and the remaining 15 eyes had macro-perforation. The most common postoperative complications were double anterior chamber in 8 of 83 eyes (9.6%) and early suture loosening in 8 of 83 eyes (9.6%). Conclusion: The study demonstrated that in the first 25 cases, the rate of conversion to PK was higher, however, the success rate increases remarkably after the first 25 cases. Türk edebiyatı sözlü ve yazılı gelenek hâlinde iki koldan ilerleyip gelişerek gelen büyük ve köklü bir yapıya sahiptir. Varlığını bütün canlılığı ile sürdürmeye devam eden Türk edebiyatının en kapsamlı dönemi klasik edebiyat olarak adlandırılan dönemidir. Türklerin İslamiyet’i kabul etmesiyle başlayan bu gelenek Arap ve Fars edebiyatının tesiriyle gelişmiş, Osmanlı Devleti zamanında en etkin dönemini yaşamıştır. Bu köklü edebî geleneğin içinde pek çok şair, yazar ve ilim insanı yetişmiştir. Yetişen bu insanların biyografilerinin ortaya konması ve eserlerinin incelenmesi hem kültür hem de edebiyat tarihi için önem arz etmektedir. 18. yüzyıl şairlerinden olan İsmail Nüzhet Efendi de kaynaklarda adı geçen, ancak hakkındaki bilgi sınırlı olduğu için henüz tam biyografisi ortaya konulmamış ve divanı incelenmemiş bir şairdir. Çalışmamızın amacı 18. yüzyıl şairi olan İsmail Nüzhet Efendi’yi ve divanını tanıtmaktır. Ancak Nüzhet mahlası, edebiyatımızda müşterek olarak kullanılmıştır. 18. yüzyılda Nüzhet mahlasını kullanan birden fazla şair vardır. Bu nedenle çalışmada öncelikle Nüzhet mahlasını kullanan şairlere değinmek gerekmektedir. Makalenin ilk kısmında Nüzhet mahlasına sahip şairler hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Böylece Nüzhet mahlasına sahip şairler bir araya getirilerek bir bütün halinde görülebilecek, bu da İsmail Nüzhet Efendi’nin, aynı mahlası kullanan çağdaşları ile karışıp karışmadığı konusuna açıklık getirecektir. Makalenin ikinci kısmında da İsmail Nüzhet Efendi hakkında bilgi verilip daha önce incelenmemiş divanı tanıtılacaktır. Divanında mesnevi, kaside, terkib-bent, terci-bent, muhammes, tahmis, gazel ve kıta nazım şekillerini kullanmıştır. En çok kullandığı nazım şekli gazeldir ve divanının büyük çoğunluğunu gazeller kaplamaktadır. Divanda tarih manzumeleri, münâcât, naat, ramazâniyye, bayrâmiyye, hamâmiyye, tebrik-nâme gibi nazım türleri de bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca musammatlar ve gazellerin arasında bir bahr-ı tavil vardır. İsmail Nüzhet Efendi, edebî üslupların ön plana çıktığı dönemde, klasik üslubu takip ederek sade bir dille yazdığı, âşıkâne şiirlerinden oluşan mürettep divanı ile edebiyat tarihimizde yerini almaktadır.

In this study, the aim is to present a STEAM-based music activity for gifted students and to determine the students' awareness of the process at the end of the activity. The study group of the research consists of exceptionally gifted students who applied to STEAM Based Music Activities Workshop in the Halil İnalcık Science and Art Center. Accordingly, we determined the study group of the research as 25 5th grade students studying at Bursa Halil İnalcık Science and Art Centre in the 2023–2024 academic year. At the same time, these students also take information technologies course. We carried out the activity of “I design my instrument with Scratch program and Makey Makey” for a total of 8 hours in 4 weeks, i.e., two hours each week. The activity was prepared in line with the 5E learning model. At the end of the research, we applied the Formative Evaluation Form to the students and obtained data about their awareness of the process. We used the content analysis method to analyze the date. In the research, we determined that the students enjoyed the activity, their interest in music increased, music can be used effectively in different fields, coding studies with music are more fun, and they developed self-confidence by liking their work. In line with the data obtained in the research, the conclusion was that the realisation of music lessons with different fields by using today's technologies has positive effects on students.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Litvanya’da bulunan bir Waldorf anaokuluna çocukları devam eden ebeveynler ile bu okulda görev yapan öğretmenlerin Waldorf anaokullarına ilişkin görüşlerinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Litvanya’da bir Waldorf anaokulunda çocuğu eğitim gören, İngilizce dilini bilen beş ebeveyn ile bu okulda görev yapan ve İngilizce dilini bilen iki eğitimci ile oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma verileri yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler içerik analizi tekniği ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda çalışma grubundaki ebeveynlerin çoğunluğu açık alanda geçirilen zaman, Waldorf eğitiminin kaliteli olması ve okulda doğal materyallerin kullanımından dolayı bu okulu tercih ettiklerini belirtmişlerdir. Ayrıca ebeveynler Waldorf Anaokulunun diğer anaokullarından farkına yönelik karma yaş gruplarının bir arada bulunması, doğaya dayalı eğitim verilmesi, esneklik ve aile katılım etkinliklerine daha fazla yer verilmesini belirtmişlerdir. Ebeveynler Waldorf anaokulunun amaçlarını “çocuğu ilkokula hazırlamak, çocukların oyun yoluyla öğrenmelerini sağlamak, çocukların gelişimlerini destekleme ve değerlere ilişkin farkındalık kazandırmak” olarak belirtmişlerdir. Bir diğer bulguya göre öğretmenler Waldorf anaokulunun amaçlarını “çocukların yaratıcılıklarını desteklemek, çocukların sosyalleşmesini sağlamak ve çocukların kendilerini tanımalarını sağlamak” olarak belirtmişlerdir. Waldorf anaokullarının diğer anaokullarından farkına ilişkin öğretmenler, çocukların doğada bulunma sürelerinin uzun olması ve doğaya dayalı eğitim felsefesinin benimsenmesini belirtmişlerdir.

Objective:Decreased quality of life is an important state in which patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) frequently experienced. Thus, measuring the quality of life of these patients is necessary. This study aimed to translate, cross-culturally adapt, and psychometrically test the Turkish version of the Multidimensional Index of Life Quality in patients with ACS.Methods:The study sample consisted of 370 patients with ACS who were admitted to a university hospital between October 2010 and June 2011. In this cross-sectional study, backward and forward translation methods were used between the Turkish and English version of the scale. The following psychometric properties were evaluated: content validity, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, test–retest analysis, and equivalent forms method.Results:Goodness-of-fit index (GFI) results of the confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the a priori hypothesized nine-factor model had a non-acceptable fit in the sample based on the following: χ2=1854.58, df=523, χ2/df=3.54; p1.0, explaining 69.7% of the cumulative variance. Objective Psychoeducation is an evidence-based therapeutic intervention for women that provide information, support for a better understanding and coping with fear of childbirth (FOC). Although there have been some studies examining the effects of psychoeducation on FOC and cesarean section (CS), there is no high quality evidence. This systematic review and meta-analysis study aimed to investigate the effects of psychoeducation on FOC and CS rate. Methods Literature research was performed in CINAHL, PubMed, Science Direct, OVID, Medline, Science Citation Index (Web of Science) and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials until April 2018. This study is based on the recommendations of the Cochrane guidelines. The analysis was conducted using the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis Program Version 3. Results Four randomized controlled studies and three non-randomized controlled studies were selected; six studies were combined for FOC and four studies were combined for CS rate. Meta-analysis revealed that psychoeducation is effective in reducing pregnant women's FOC (hedges’ g 0.59, 95% Confidence Interval (CI) 0.46–0.72, p = .000; 931 women) and the CS rate (Odds Ratio 1.730, 95% CI 1.285–2.330, p = .000; 682 women). Conclusion This study provides sufficient evidence that psychoeducation is an effective to reduce FOC and CS rate.

The World Health Organization (WHO) considers the registration of the study protocol as the publication of an internationally recognized set of information on the design, conduct, and management of clinical trials. Writing a detailed study protocol with all the correct and necessary steps is an important step before starting randomized controlled trials. WHO says that study protocols should be included in a standardized registration system and published on a publicly accessible website. From an ethical point of view, the Helsinki Declaration emphasizes that study protocols should be registered in a public database. In addition, before the implementation process of the RCTs has started, obtaining the registration number (protocol ID) in public databases has become an important necessity for the studies to be published in quality journals. The purpose of this review is to review, consider recommendations and provide guidance for protocol registration during protocol preparation, which is the most important stage of a correctly planned RCT process. It is seen that the culture of planning and adhering to this protocol has not yet become widespread in the researchers in our country as they begin the RCT process, according to the principles of the study protocol preparation. It is thought that the information in this review will guide the researchers at this point.

Hemodialysis is the most common renal replacement therapy in the treatment of chronic kidney disease. Adherence to treatment is important in hemodialysis which is a complex treatment process. Adherence to treatment includes fluid intake, diet, drug management and participation in dialysis sessions. In hemodialysis patients, many problems may arise due to nonadherence to treatment. Watson’s Theory of Human Caring (THC) is the one of the important theories used to understand these problems and adaptation difficulties and to develop appropriate coping methods. Watson’s THC enables individuals to be evaluated in a holistic manner, adapt to the disease and treatment process, and recover. This review, which was prepared as a result of the literature review, was prepared to raise awareness about nursing care based on Watson’s THC in ensuring compliance with treatment in individuals undergoing hemodialysis therapy.
