Abstract

Educators who work with playful approaches in teaching often use methods inspired by art-based learning. The aim of the study was, therefore, to investigate how pedagogics of art-based learning can contribute to the pedagogics of playful learning in a way that neither compromises essential values of art, nor the values of play. The study included two steps. First, we analyzed 70 didactic designs developed and tested in 2021 and 2022 in the in the Danish Playful Learning Project (PL). Second, we conducted a collaborative in-depth analysis of 6 additional playful learning designs, also developed and tested in the PL project. The study indicates that art-based skills are an important prerequisite in order to realize the potential of art-based learning as well as playful learning. However, a focus on art-based skills can lead to a more entrenched perspective that interferes with the focus on open-ended processes and experimentation that are found within playful learning. Abstract

Aerosoler dannet under afbrænding af biomasse og affald består af saltpartikler med diametre under en mikrometer. Disse partikler udgør en sundhedsrisiko, da de kan trænge ned i lungevævet og videre ud i blodbanen. Partiklerne har desuden en negativ virkning i kraftværkerne, da de forårsager korrosive deponeringer på overhederrør. Det er i dette projekt forsøgt at beskrive dannelsesmekanismen for partiklerne. Der er foreslået en mekanisme, hvor partiklerne dannes ved kondensering af gasformigt alkalisulfat, direkte fra røggassen. De kemiske reaktioner der fører til dannelsen af den gasformige alkalisulfat er blevet karakteriseret ved forsøg med dannelse af aerosolpartikler i en laboratorieskala rørovn. De dannede partikler er blevet karakteriseret for størrelsesfordeling, kemisk sammensætning og morfologi. Feltmålinger på et halmfyret kraftværk og på et affaldsforbrændingsanlæg er blevet opsamlet og karakteriseret med de samme teknikker som blev anvendt i laboratoriet. Partiklerne fra både affaldsforbrænding og halmafbrænding består af alkaliklorid og alkalisulfat. Der er vist at der indstilles en kemisk ligevægt mellem disse komponenter i gasfasen under forbrændingen. Når røggassen afkøles går de kemiske reaktioner i stå og de saltformige forbindelser kondenserer som enten partikler eller saltaflejringer. Afhandlingen beskriver hvorledes driften af forbrændingsanlæg kan ændres for at minimere dannelsen af aerosolpartikler. Det beskrives også hvorledes såkaldte additiver kan tilsættes fyrrummet for at binde alkalimetaller der dermed ikke kan kondensere som aerosolpartikler. En computermodel er benyttet til simulerer dannelsen af partikler. Denne er baseret på hypoteserne for de gældende dannelsesmekanismer beskrevet i laboratoriestudiet. Modellen var i stand til at simulere eksperimentelle data med stor nøjagtighed og denne understøtter derfor den foreslåede mekanisme.

Allergic diseases are prominent, possibly life threatening, and a cause of worldwide concern. Evidence-based education of doctors in the specialty of allergology is a prerequisite for correct diagnosis and treatment of patients with allergic diseases. Recently, the specialty of allergology has been abolished in Denmark, without any upgrading of the education of doctors in related specialties. As a consequence, one could fear that allergy expertise will be disappearing. We propose collaboration among experts from related specialties with joint mediation of knowledge through a centre of allergology, common educational programs for doctors in training and physician specialists, and collaboration in regional centres of allergology.

6. Aerosol Formation during the Combustion of Straw with Addition of Sorbents

Abstract

The influence of six sorbents on aerosol formation during the combustion of straw in a 100 MW boiler on a Danish power plant has been studied in full-scale. The following sorbents were studied: ammonium sulfate, monocalcium phosphate, Bentonite, ICA5000, clay, and chalk. Bentonite and ICA5000 are mixtures of clay minerals and consist mainly of the oxides from Fe, Al, and Si. The straw used was Danish wheat and seed grass. Measurements were also made with increased flow of primary air. The experiments showed between 46% and 70% reduction in particle mass concentrations when adding ammonium sulfate, calcium phosphate, Bentonite, ICA5000, and clay. The addition of chalk increased the aerosol mass concentration by 24%. Experiments in a laminar flow aerosol condenser with the six sorbents were carried out in the laboratory using a synthetic flue gas to avoid fluctuations in the alkali feeding. These experiments showed similar reductions to the ones found in full-scale. When feeding ammonium sulfate, the aerosol mass concentration increased as a result of the feeding method. The chemical compositions of the fine particles suggest that there is chemical equilibrium in the gas for the sulfation reaction at temperatures above 812 degrees C.

Abstract

The CPA (Cubic-Plus-Association) equation of state has been extended to modeling of organic acids. We will focus in this work on formic, acetic, and propanoic acids due to their importance to the chemical and petrochemical industries. Organic acids, unlike many other associating compounds, have a strong tendency to dimerise in the vapor phase at normal condition resulting in strong non-ideal behavior, even at low pressures. Pure compound parameters have been determined from vapor pressure and liquid density data for the three acids. Among the three tested association schemes (one-site, two-site, and four-site), only the one-site association scheme describes satisfactorily the association in both the gas and the liquid phase. Second virial coefficients axe predicted well with the proposed one-site model. Excellent binary VLE and acceptable LLE correlations have been obtained for acid + aliphatic hydrocarbons employing a low value of a binary interaction parameter. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V.
