This article reports the efficiency of the Damon® self-ligating brackets, for the treatment of a Class II, hypodivergent adult patient. We present a case report of a non-extraction treatment for an adult male patient, and we evaluate the effiency of the treatment by recording the effects obtained over time and comparing them with data from the literature regarding this aspect.

Given the abundant amount of hollyhock in the environment, given the special propertiesof the plant, used both internally, in hepato-biliary disorders and externally in various dermatological diseases, we set out to achieve a physical-chemicaland technological study. of this plant We obtained a soft extract from the plant Chelidonium majus L., which we dosed by the volumetric method, in order to determine the quantitative chelidonine From the soft extract of Chelidonium majus L, we made 4 ointments with different concentrations in the active substance; we determined the organoleptic properties, the pH, the display capacity, the stability in time of the ointments at different temperatures. The obtained results justified us to affirm the important role of this plant in the topical treatments of various dermatological diseases.

Introduction: The present study aimed to investigate the deformation behavior of three different clear aligner systems, CA® Pro+ Clear Aligner (Scheu Dental, Iserlohn, Germany), Taglus Premium (Taglus Company, Mumbai, India), and Spark Trugen (Ormco Corp., Orange, CA, USA), under compression testing, using the digital image correlation (DIC) technique. Materials and Methods: A total of 15 patients were treated with each of the three aligner systems, resulting in 45 sets of aligners. Each aligner set was fixed on the 3D-printed dental arches and then in an articulator. Then, the samples were subjected to occlusal forces using a purpose-built test stand to allow for controlled force application and precise displacement determination. The DIC technique was used for capturing the deformation behavior, providing detailed strain and displacement fields. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way ANOVA and Bonferroni post hoc tests with a significance of 0.05. Results: The results indicate that the Spark system exhibited the most substantial rigid displacement. Furthermore, the elastic deformation values of the Spark and Taglus systems were significantly higher than those of the CA Pro+ system (p > 0.05). Conclusions: The Spark Trugen clear aligner system demonstrated a lower stability to rigid displacement and elastic deformation under compression testing compared to the Scheu CA® Pro+ Clear Aligner and Taglus Premium. All three tested clear aligner systems showed an increased resistance to elastic displacement and rigid deformation in the mandibular arch. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to compare the color changes in two different orthodontic clear aligner systems after submersion in various beverages for 14 days. The tested aligner systems were Taglus Premium made of polyethylene terephthalate glycol (the TAG group) and CA® Prodin+ made of a transparent copolyester and a thermoplastic elastomer (the PRO group). A total of 56 samples were firstly divided into two groups according to the tested system—TAG and PRO. Each group was subsequently divided in four subgroups according to immersion solution: A—artificial saliva, B—cola, C—coffee, D—red wine. Color measurements were performed on Days 1, 7 and 14 using a portable colorimeter and the CIE L*a*b* system. The obtained results showed significant color changes in both materials when exposed to coffee and red wine (p > 0.05). Samples in the PRO group showed a greater susceptibility to discoloration (higher ΔE values) when compared to the TAG group after submersion in cola (p = 0.025), coffee (p = 0.005) and red wine (p = 0.041) solutions. Statistical analysis revealed that all of the color parameters ΔL*, Δa*, Δb* and ΔE of both tested materials were affected by submersion in coffee solution for 14 days. In conclusion, the CA® Pro+ aligner system is more prone to staining compared to the Taglus material after submersion for 14 days in cola, coffee and red wine solutions. Submersion for 14 days in coffee solution alters all of the color parameters (ΔL, Δa, Δb and ΔE) of both tested aligner materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

By correctly repositioning teeth, orthodontic therapy improves both the function and appearance of an occlusion. The relationship between teeth and the tissues that surround and support them significantly influences these alterations. With ever more adults seeking orthodontic care, orthodontists are increasingly seeing patients with periodontal issues. Concerns about the patient's appearance, such as uneven gingival margins or functional issues caused by inflammatory periodontal diseases, should be accounted for when designing orthodontic treatment plans. Furthermore, orthodontics may increase the chances of saving and recovering a degraded dentition in cases of severe periodontitis. Today, general dentists, dontists, and orthodontists play integrative roles that enable them to achieve the best possible results for their patients. This review will improve the results of interdisciplinary treatments and increase cooperation between dental specialists by drawing attention to the essential connection between orthodontics and periodontics in regular clinical practice. The study aims to investigate the influence of TiO2 nanoparticles on the permeation and retention properties of polymeric membranes used in wastewater nanofiltration systems from the medical sector. The research is focused on the influence of the TiO2 nanoparticles concentration on the membrane properties. Additives in general determine enhanced membrane properties like permeation and retention capacity. Hydrophobicityhowever, is decreasing due to the nanoparticles affinity for water and this have an important effect on the permeation properties, at the same time with the decrease in surface roughness, with an important influence on the fouling effect. Membranes with four different concentrations of TiO2 nanoparticles were studied, from 0 to 2% nanoparticles. Results showed that small percent of nanoparticles have an important impact on the permeation properties of the membranes, finding that at 2% nanoparticles the permeation decreases due to the nanoparticles aggregations which are blocking the pores. In today's society, patients who turn to the orthodontist want final results in the shortest possible time, with maximum emphasis on smile aesthetics, dental alignment and facial harmony. In this regard, some procedures have emerged to accelerate the movement of teeth through the alveolar bone, thus shortening the duration of active treatment: corticotomy, application of mini-implants, etc. Of these methods, bone anchorage on mini-implants is increasingly popular among adult patients, as it is a versatile technique that ensures a stable, bony anchorage and more predictable final results. Compared to implantology in prosthodontics, which has a long history, mini- orthodontic implants emerged later in medical practice. In 1998, Shapiro and Kokich described for the first time the possibility of using dental implants for anchorage in orthodontic therapy. Odman J et al. (Upsala University, Sweden) applied implants to patients with partial edentulousness. The results were favorable, leading the authors to recommend the technique for adult partial edentulousness. Kanomi (1997) showed that a 1.2 mm diameter titanium mini- implant provides anchorage for the intrusion of the lower front teeth. After 4 months, the mandibular incisors were intruded by 6 mm without root resorption. Birte Melsen et al. (1998) introduced the use of zygomatic ligatures as anchorage in patients with partial edentulousness. To this they attached nickel-titanium springs for intrusion and retraction of maxillary incisors. Hugo de Clerk (2008) used 4 mini-implants (Bollard type) inserted into the infra-zygomatic crest in patients with Angle class III anomalies. He used 2 mini-implants with hooks in the chin area, and patients wore Class III 150 grams elastics on each side. Design Multidisciplinary survey conducted via a web-based questionnaire for orthodontic postgraduate students. Settings Orthodontic residents from 9 countries were surveyed between April and May 2021. The majority was from Romania 52.53% (n=83), Turkey 21.52% (n=34), Croatia 6.33 (n=10) and less than 5% of participants from the other countries with Bulgaria 4.43% (n=7), Republic of Moldova 4.43% (n=7), Greece 3.80% (n=6), Bosnia and Herzegovina 3.16%(n=5), North Macedonia 1.90% (n=3) and Serbia 1.90% (n=3). Results The questionnaire was completed by 158 orthodontic postgraduate students from the Balkan countries, of which 75.95% (n=120) were females and 24.05% (n=38) were males. The average age group of the respondents was between 25-34 years (84.81% [n=134] of the participants), while there was a significant difference (p<0.05) with students from Romania with 2.3 times more females from Turkey with 2.4 times more males in comparison to other countries. A higher number of the participants 37.34% (n=59) were working in both the private and public sectors. Most of the orthodontic residents were mostly in their 2nd year of studies 72.78% (n=115). The majority of the postgraduate students (n=93, 58.86%) altered their plans and service delivery following the instructions of their institutions. The impact of coronavirus was evident, since a decrease in outpatient visits before and after the pandemic was evident, (from 15 patients to 12 patients respectively per day), with an average of 6 working hours under current circumstances. Conclusions In this first international survey for orthodontic residents, widespread changes in the orthodontic education programs during the outbreak of COVID-19 are reported. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
