This paper presents a novel sparse signal detection scheme designed for a correlated Markovian Bernoulli-Gaussian sparse signal model, which can equivalently be viewed as a block sparse signal model. Despite the inherent complexity of the model, our approach yields a closed-form detection criterion. Theoretical analyses of the proposed detector are provided, including the computation of false alarm probability and detection probability through closed-form formulas. Simulation results compellingly demonstrate the advantages of our proposed detector compared to an existing detector in the literature.

In this brief, we present an enhanced privacy-preserving distributed estimation algorithm, referred to as the ``Double-Private Algorithm," which combines the principles of both differential privacy (DP) and cryptography. The proposed algorithm enhances privacy by introducing DP noise into the intermediate estimations of neighboring nodes. Additionally, we employ an inverse of a closed-form reproducible proportionate gain matrix as the cryptographic key matrix to fortify the privacy protection within the proposed double private algorithm. \textcolor{blue}{We improve the algorithm by transmitting alternative variable vectors instead of raw measurements, resulting in enhanced key matrix reconstruction performance. This innovative approach mitigate noise impact, enhancing overall algorithm effectiveness.} We also establish an upper bound for the norm of the error between the non-private Diffusion Least Mean Square (DLMS) algorithm and our double private algorithm. Further, we determine a sufficient condition for the step-size to ensure the mean convergence of the proposed algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, particularly its ability to attain the final Mean Square Deviation (MSD) comparable to that of the non-private DLMS.

In this paper, an algorithm for estimation and compensation of second-order nonlinearity in wireless sensor setwork (WSN) in distributed estimation framework is proposed. First, the effect of second-order nonlinearity on the performance of Diffusion Least Mean Square (DLMS) algorithm is investigated and an upper bound for $l^2$-norm of the error due to nonlinearity is derived mathematically. Second, mean convergence analysis of the DLMS algorithm in presence of second-order nonlinearity is derived. Third, a distributed algorithm is suggested which consists of extra nonlinearity estimation and compensation units. Moreover, considering the second-order nonlinearity, the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) for estimating both the unknown vector and nonlinearity coefficient vector is calculated, in which the Fisher information matrix is obtained in a closed-form formula. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in improving the performance of distributed estimation in the presence of nonlinear sensors in a WSN.

This paper generalizes the proportionate-type adaptive algorithm to the graph signal processing and proposes two proportionate-type adaptive graph signal recovery algorithms. The gain matrix of the proportionate algorithm leads to faster convergence than least mean squares (LMS) algorithm. In this paper, the gain matrix is obtained in a closed-form by minimizing the gradient of the mean-square deviation (GMSD). The first algorithm is the Proportionate-type Graph LMS (Pt-GLMS) algorithm which simply uses a gain matrix in the recursion process of the LMS algorithm and accelerates the convergence of the Pt-GLMS algorithm compared to the LMS algorithm. The second algorithm is the Proportionate-type Graph Extended LMS (Pt-GELMS) algorithm, which uses the previous signal vectors alongside the signal of the current iteration. The Pt-GELMS algorithm utilizes two gain matrices to control the effect of the signal of the previous iterations. The stability analyses of the algorithms are also provided. Simulation results demonstrate the efficacy of the two proposed proportionate-type LMS algorithms.

This paper proposes a robust adaptive algorithm for smooth graph signal recovery which is based on generalized correntropy. A proper cost function is defined for this purpose. The proposed algorithm is derived and a kernel width learning-based version of the algorithm is suggested which the simulation results show the superiority of it to the fixed correntropy kernel version of the algorithm. Moreover, some theoretical analysis of the proposed algorithm are provided. In this regard, firstly, the convexity analysis of the cost function is discussed. Secondly, the uniform stability of the algorithm is investigated. Thirdly, the mean convergence analysis is also added. Finally, the complexity analysis of the algorithm is incorporated. In addition, some synthetic and real-world experiments show the advantage of the proposed algorithm in comparison to some other adaptive algorithms in the literature of adaptive graph signal recovery.

Spectral unmixing (SU) of hyperspectral images (HSIs) is one of the important areas in remote sensing (RS) that needs to be carefully addressed in different RS applications. Despite the high spectral resolution of the hyperspectral data, the relatively low spatial resolution of the sensors may lead to mixture of different pure materials within the image pixels. In this case, the spectrum of a given pixel recorded by the sensor can be a combination of multiple spectra each belonging to a unique material in that pixel. Spectral unmixing is then used as a technique to extract the spectral characteristics of the different materials within the mixed pixels and to recover the spectrum of each pure spectral signature, called endmember. Block-sparsity exists in hyperspectral images as a result of spectral similarity between neighboring pixels. In block-sparse signals, the nonzero samples occur in clusters and the pattern of the clusters is often supposed to be unavailable as prior information. This paper presents an innovative spectral unmixing approach for HSIs based on block-sparse structure. Hyperspectral unmixing problem is solved using pattern coupled sparse Bayesian learning strategy (PCSBL). To evaluate the performance of the proposed SU algorithm, it is tested on both synthetic and real hyperspectral data and the quantitative results are compared to those of other state-of-the-art methods in terms of abundance angle distance and mean squared error. This paper investigates the problem of graph signal recovery (GSR) when the topology of the graph is not known in advance. In this paper, the elements of the weighted adjacency matrix is statistically related to normal distribution and the graph signal is assumed to be Gaussian Markov Random Field (GMRF). Then, the problem of GSR is solved by a Variational Bayes (VB) algorithm in a Bayesian manner by computing the posteriors in a closed form. The posteriors of the elements of weighted adjacency matrix are proved to have a new distribution which we call it generalized compound confluent hypergeometric (GCCH) distribution. Moreover, the variance of the noise is estimated by calculating its posterior via VB. The simulation results on synthetic and real-world data shows the superiority of the proposed Bayesian algorithm over some state-of-the-art algorithms in recovering the graph signal., Comment: 5 pages

In this paper, a novel model-based distributed compressive sensing (DCS) algorithm is proposed. DCS exploits the inter-signal correlations and has the capability to jointly recover multiple sparse signals. Proposed approach is a Bayesian decentralized algorithm which uses the type 1 joint sparsity model (JSM-1) and exploits the intra-signal correlations, as well as the inter-signal correlations. Compared to the conventional DCS algorithm, which only exploit the joint sparsity of the signals, the proposed approach takes the intra- and inter-scale dependencies among the wavelet coefficients into account to enable the utilization of the individual signal structure. Furthermore, the Bessel K-form (BKF) is used as the prior distribution which has a sharper peak at zero and heavier tails than the Gaussian distribution. The variational Bayesian (VB) inference is employed to perform the posterior distributions and acquire a closed-form solution for model parameters. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm have good recovery performance in comparison with state-of the-art techniques.

In this paper, the new algorithm based on clustered multitask network is proposed to solve spectral unmixing problem in hyperspectral imagery. In the proposed algorithm, the clustered network is employed. Each pixel in the hyperspectral image considered as a node in this network. The nodes in the network are clustered using the fuzzy c-means clustering method. Diffusion least mean square strategy has been used to optimize the proposed cost function. To evaluate the proposed method, experiments are conducted on synthetic and real datasets. This paper proposes a spectrum sensing algorithm from one bit measurements in a cognitive radio sensor network. A likelihood ratio test (LRT) for the one bit spectrum sensing problem is derived. Different from the one bit spectrum sensing research work in the literature, the signal is assumed to be a discrete random correlated Gaussian process, where the correlation is only available within immediate successive samples of the received signal. The employed model facilitates the design of a powerful detection criteria with measurable analytical performance. One bit spectrum sensing criterion is derived for one sensor which is then generalized to multiple sensors. Performance of the detector is analyzed by obtaining closed-form formulas for the probability of false alarm and the probability of detection. Simulation results corroborate the theoretical findings and confirm the efficacy of the proposed detector in the context of highly correlated signals and large number of sensors., Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures

One of the constraints which was added to NMF is sparsity, that was regularized by Lq norm. In this paper, a new algorithm based on distributed optimization is suggested for spectral unmixing. In the proposed algorithm, a network including single-node clusters is employed. Each pixel in the hyperspectral images is considered as a node in this network. The sparsity constrained distributed unmixing is optimized with diffusion least mean p-power (LMP) strategy, and then the update equations for fractional abundance and signature matrices are obtained. Afterwards the proposed algorithm is analyzed for different values of LMP power and Lq norms. This paper investigates the problem of sparse signal recovery in the presence of additive impulsive noise. The heavytailed impulsive noise is well modelled with stable distributions. Since there is no explicit formulation for the probability density function of $S\alpha S$ distribution, alternative approximations like Generalized Gaussian Distribution (GGD) are used which impose $\ell_p$-norm fidelity on the residual error. In this paper, we exploit a Continuous Mixed Norm (CMN) for robust sparse recovery instead of $\ell_p$-norm. We show that in blind conditions, i.e., in case where the parameters of noise distribution are unknown, incorporating CMN can lead to near optimal recovery. We apply Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) for solving the problem induced by utilizing CMN for robust sparse recovery. In this approach, CMN is replaced with a surrogate function and Majorization-Minimization technique is incorporated to solve the problem. Simulation results confirm the efficiency of the proposed method compared to some recent algorithms in the literature for impulsive noise robust sparse recovery.

In this letter, the problem of sparse signal reconstruction from one bit compressed sensing measurements is investigated. To solve the problem, a variational Bayes framework with a new statistical multivariate model is used. The dependency of the wavelet decomposition coefficients is modeled with a multivariate Gaussian copula. This model can separate marginal structure of coefficients from their intra scale dependency. In particular, the drawable Gaussian vine copula multivariate double Lomax model is suggested. The reconstructed signal is derived by variational Bayes algorithm which can calculate closed forms for posterior of all unknown parameters and sparse signal. Numerical results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm compared with the competing approaches in the literature.

The distributed unmixing with sparsity constraint has been optimized with diffusion LMS strategy, and then the update equations for fractional abundance and signature matrices are obtained. Simulation results based on defined performance metrics, illustrate advantage of the proposed algorithm in spectral unmixing of hyperspectral data compared with other methods. In this paper, we study the missing sample recovery problem using methods based on sparse approximation. In this regard, we investigate the algorithms used for solving the inverse problem associated with the restoration of missed samples of image signal. This problem is also known as inpainting in the context of image processing and for this purpose, we suggest an iterative sparse recovery algorithm based on constrained $l_1$-norm minimization with a new fidelity metric. The proposed metric called Convex SIMilarity (CSIM) index, is a simplified version of the Structural SIMilarity (SSIM) index, which is convex and error-sensitive. The optimization problem incorporating this criterion, is then solved via Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM). Simulation results show the efficiency of the proposed method for missing sample recovery of 1D patch vectors and inpainting of 2D image signals.

This paper investigates the problem of recovering missing samples using methods based on sparse representation adapted especially for image signals. Instead of $l_2$-norm or Mean Square Error (MSE), a new perceptual quality measure is used as the similarity criterion between the original and the reconstructed images. The proposed criterion called Convex SIMilarity (CSIM) index is a modified version of the Structural SIMilarity (SSIM) index, which despite its predecessor, is convex and uni-modal. We derive mathematical properties for the proposed index and show how to optimally choose the parameters of the proposed criterion, investigating the Restricted Isometry (RIP) and error-sensitivity properties. We also propose an iterative sparse recovery method based on a constrained $l_1$-norm minimization problem, incorporating CSIM as the fidelity criterion. The resulting convex optimization problem is solved via an algorithm based on Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM). Taking advantage of the convexity of the CSIM index, we also prove the convergence of the algorithm to the globally optimal solution of the proposed optimization problem, starting from any arbitrary point. This letter presents the sparse vector signal detection from one bit compressed sensing measurements, in contrast to the previous works which deal with scalar signal detection. In this letter, available results are extended to the vector case and the GLRT detector and the optimal quantizer design are obtained. Also, a double-detector scheme is introduced in which a sensor level threshold detector is integrated into network level GLRT to improve the performance. The detection criteria of oracle and clairvoyant detectors are also derived. Simulation results show that with careful design of the threshold detector, the overall detection performance of double-detector scheme would be better than the sign-GLRT proposed in [1] and close to oracle and clairvoyant detectors. This letter investigates the non-coherent Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation problem dealing with the DOA estimation from magnitude only measurements of the array output. The magnitude squared of the array output is expanded as a superposition of some harmonics. Hence, a frequency estimation approach is used to find some nonlinear relations between DOAs, which results in inherent ambiguities. To solve the nonlinear equations and resolve the ambiguities, we assume a high amplitude reference target at low angles to estimate the true DOA's with no ambiguities. However, the proposed algorithm requires a large number of antenna array elements to accurately estimate the DOA's. To overcome this drawback, and to enhance the estimation accuracy, we suggest two variants of the algorithm. One is to add virtual elements in the array and the second is to integrate multiple snapshots. Simulation results show that the proposed frequency estimation-based algorithm outperforms the non-coherent GESPAR algorithm in the low signal to noise ratio (SNR) regime and it is two orders of magnitude faster than the non-coherent GESPAR algorithm., Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures

This letter proposes a sparse diffusion steepest-descent algorithm for one bit compressed sensing in wireless sensor networks. The approach exploits the diffusion strategy from distributed learning in the one bit compressed sensing framework. To estimate a common sparse vector cooperatively from only the sign of measurements, steepest-descent is used to minimize the suitable global and local convex cost functions. A diffusion strategy is suggested for distributive learning of the sparse vector. This letter proposes a dictionary learning algorithm for blind one bit compressed sensing. In the blind one bit compressed sensing framework, the original signal to be reconstructed from one bit linear random measurements is sparse in an unknown domain. In this context, the multiplication of measurement matrix $\Ab$ and sparse domain matrix $\Phi$, \ie $\Db=\Ab\Phi$, should be learned. Hence, we use dictionary learning to train this matrix. Towards that end, an appropriate continuous convex cost function is suggested for one bit compressed sensing and a simple steepest-descent method is exploited to learn the rows of the matrix $\Db$. This letter presents a novel Block Bayesian Hypothesis Testing Algorithm (Block-BHTA) for reconstructing block sparse signals with unknown block structures. The Block-BHTA comprises the detection and recovery of the supports, and the estimation of the amplitudes of the block sparse signal. The support detection and recovery is performed using a Bayesian hypothesis testing. Then, based on the detected and reconstructed supports, the nonzero amplitudes are estimated by linear MMSE. This paper presents a novel Block Iterative Bayesian Algorithm (Block-IBA) for reconstructing block-sparse signals with unknown block structures. Unlike the existing algorithms for block sparse signal recovery which assume the cluster structure of the nonzero elements of the unknown signal to be independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.), we use a more realistic Bernoulli-Gaussian hidden Markov model (BGHMM) to characterize the non-i.i.d. block-sparse signals commonly encountered in practice. The Block-IBA iteratively estimates the amplitudes and positions of the block-sparse signal using the steepest-ascent based Expectation-Maximization (EM), and optimally selects the nonzero elements of the block-sparse signal by adaptive thresholding. In this paper, we propose a Bayesian Hypothesis Testing Algorithm (BHTA) for sparse representation. It uses the Bayesian framework to determine active atoms in sparse representation of a signal. The Bayesian hypothesis testing based on three assumptions, determines the active atoms from the correlations and leads to the activity measure as proposed in Iterative Detection Estimation (IDE) algorithm. In fact, IDE uses an arbitrary decreasing sequence of thresholds while the proposed algorithm is based on a sequence which derived from hypothesis testing. So, Bayesian hypothesis testing framework leads to an improved version of the IDE algorithm. The simulations show that Hard-version of our suggested algorithm achieves one of the best results in terms of estimation accuracy among the algorithms which have been implemented in our simulations, while it has the greatest complexity in terms of simulation time.

In this paper, we address the theoretical limitations in reconstructing sparse signals (in a known complete basis) using compressed sensing framework. We also divide the CS to non-blind and blind cases. Then, we compute the Bayesian Cramer-Rao bound for estimating the sparse coefficients while the measurement matrix elements are independent zero mean random variables. In this paper, we propose a new method for impulse noise removal from images. It uses the sparsity of images in the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) domain. The zeros in this domain give us the exact mathematical equation to reconstruct the pixels that are corrupted by random-value impulse noises. The proposed method can also detect and correct the corrupted pixels. Moreover, in a simpler case that salt and pepper noise is the brightest and darkest pixels in the image, we propose a simpler version of our method. In addition to the proposed method, we suggest a combination of the traditional median filter method with our method to yield better results when the percentage of the corrupted samples is high., Comment: 6 pages
