We compare calculations of the three-point correlation functions of BMN operators at the one-loop (next-to-leading) order in the scalar SU(2) sector from the integrability expression recently suggested by Gromov and Vieira, and from the string field theory expression based on the effective interaction vertex by Dobashi and Yoneya. A disagreement is found between the form-factors of the correlation functions in the one-loop contributions. In 1012.2475 Escobedo, Gromov, Sever and Vieira suggested a formula for an SU(2) three-point correlation function at weak coupling based on integrability techniques. We generalize it to the SO(6) sector, thus including all possible single-trace scalar operators in $\mathcal{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills, and prove by direct comparison to a perturbative SO(6) calculations that our generalization is valid., Comment: 10 pages, references added

The agreement between string theory and field theory is demonstrated in the leading order by providing the first calculation of the correlator of three two-impurity BMN states with all non-zero momenta. The calculation is performed in two completely independent ways: in field theory by using the large-$N$ perturbative expansion, up to the terms subleading in finite-size, and in string theory by using the Dobashi-Yoneya 3-string vertex in the leading order of the Penrose expansion. We compute the first curvature corrections to the spectrum of light-cone gauge type IIA string theory that arise in the expansion of $AdS_4\times \mathbb{CP}^3$ about a plane-wave limit. The resulting spectrum is shown to match precisely, both in magnitude and degeneration that of the corresponding solutions of the all-loop Gromov--Vieira Bethe Ansatz. The one-loop dispersion relation correction is calculated for all the single oscillator states of the theory, with the level matching condition lifted. It is shown to have all logarithmic divergences cancelled and to leave only a finite exponentially suppressed contribution, as shown earlier for light bosons. We argue that there is no ambiguity in the choice of the regularization for the self-energy sum, since the regularization applied is the only one preserving unitarity. Interaction matrices in the full degenerate two-oscillator sector are calculated and the spectrum of all two light magnon oscillators is completely determined. The same finite-size corrections, at the order 1/J, where $J$ is the length of the chain, in the two-magnon sector are calculated from the all loop Bethe Ansatz. The corrections obtained by the two completely different methods coincide up to the fourth order in $\lambda' =\lambda/J^2$. In the context of gauge/gravity duality, we verify two types of gauge theory low-energy theorems, the dilation Ward identities and the decoupling of heavy flavor. First, we provide an analytic proof of non-trivial dilation Ward identities for a theory holographically dual to a background with gluon condensate (the self-dual Liu--Tseytlin background). In this way an important class of low-energy theorems for correlators of different operators with the trace of the energy-momentum tensor is established, which so far has been studied in field theory only. Another low-energy relationship, the so-called decoupling theorem, is numerically shown to hold universally in three holographic models involving both the quark and the gluon condensate. We show this by comparing the ratio of the quark and gluon condensates in three different examples of gravity backgrounds with non-trivial dilaton flow. The essence of the chiral magnetic effect is generation of an electric current along an external magnetic field. Recently it has been studied by Rebhan et al. within the Sakai--Sugimoto model, where it was shown to be zero. As an alternative, we calculate the chiral magnetic effect in soft-wall AdS/QCD and find a non-zero result with the natural boundary conditions. We obtain the QCD quark condensate from consideration of unquenched quark dynamics in Dyson-Schwinger gluon vacuum. We consider the non-local extension of the condensate and determine the quark virtuality. We calculate Wilson loops on boundaries of Lifshitz-like dual backgrounds with different scaling parameters, assuming existence of a field theory dual to string theory in the bulk. We consider scaling parameters to be variable quantities which are subject to cosmological evolution. We study confinement property of pure SU(3) gauge theory, combining in this effort the non-perturbative gluon and ghost propagators obtained as solutions of Dyson--Schwinger equations with solutions of an integral ladder diagram summation type equation for the Wilson loop. We calculate the correlator of a 't Hooft and a Wilson coplanar circular concentric loops at strong coupling in N=4 SYM theory when it reduces to the calculation of the composite minimal surface in the curved space with the proper boundary conditions. The minimal admissible ratio of the radii of 't Hooft and Wilson loops for such a configuration is found to be $\mathrm{e}^{-1/2}\approx 0.606$ at zero temperature and the dependence of the minimal admissible radii ratio on temperature is derived. At low temperatures the minimal admissible ratio for 't Hooft and Wilson loops remains close to 0.6, whereas at high temperatures $T$ it becomes equal to $\frac{1}{\pi T}$. We find that at any temperature there exists a phase transition point: beneath some specific value of 't Hooft loop radius the dual counterpart of Wilson-'t Hooft correlator is organized as two disconnected surfaces in AdS, whereas for 't Hooft loop radius above it, there exists a connected configuration with a junction of monopole, charge and dyon surfaces. We suggest a generalization of the entanglement entropy for charged boundaries and make some comments on its calculation at strong coupling., Comment: 17 pages, 9 figures

We establish a novel method of obtaining the gauge-invariant bilocal condensate of gluon fields from the solutions of the Dyson--Schwinger equations (DSE) which works in the infrared and ultraviolet limits. Chiral condensate and $\eta^\prime$ meson mass spectrum are studied under the influence of an external Abelian magnetic field. We work within the D3/D7 Karch--Katz model of flavoured AdS/CFT with supersymmetry broken by the Constable--Myers deformation of the metric. It is shown that this setting yields a quadratic dependence of condensate on field, rather than the non-analytic (linear in field) dependence, typical for chiral perturbation theory in the exact chiral limit. We argue that the analytic (quadratic) result must be put into correspondence with the leading-order in the $1/N_c$ decomposition for the condensate, whereas the existing chiral perturbation theory result, which is linear in field strength, is $1/N_c$ suppressed., Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures

We consider induced pair production in an external field at finite temperature. One-loop correction to the Green function of a meson is calculated semiclassically within the framework of saddle-point analysis of Schwinger proper time integrals. This correction appears to be exponentially small in terms of inverse temperature dependence. Low-temperature limit is shown to be in full agreement with previously obtained zero-temperature results. The corrections in the low-temperature limits are estimated up to the leading exponential and pre-exponential terms. The rate of the non-perturbative decay of a 't Hooft - Polyakov monopole in an external electric field into a dyon and a charged fermion is calculated. The subleading semiclassical prefactor is presented for the first time for this process. The leading exponential factor is shown to be in full agreement with the previous results derived in a different technique. The rate of monopole decay into a dyon and an electron in an inhomogeneous external electric field is calculated by semiclassical methods. Within the ghost-free Analytic Perturbation Theory (APT), devised in the last decade for low energy QCD, simple approximations are proposed for 3-loop analytic couplings and their effective powers, in both the space-like (Euclidean) and time-like (Minkowskian) regions, accurate enough in the large range (1--100 GeV) of current physical interest.\par Effectiveness of the new Model is illustrated by the example of $\Upsilon(1\mathrm{S})$ decay where the standard analysis gives $\alpha_s(M_{\Upsilon})=0.170\pm 0.004$ value that is inconsistent with the bulk of data for $\alpha_s$. Instead, we obtain $\alpha_s^{Mod}(M_{\Upsilon})=0.185\pm 0.005$ that corresponds to $\alpha_s^{Mod}(M_Z)=0.120\pm 0.002 $ that is close to the world average.\par The issue of scale uncertainty for $\Upsilon$ decay is also discussed., Comment: 12 pages, 0 figures. We describe correlations functions of topological quantum mechanics (TQM) in terms of Morse theory. We review the basics of topological field theories and discuss geometric and algebraic interpretations of TQM. We prove that correlators in TQM can be expressed via intersection numbers of certain submanifolds of the target space with paths of steepest descent between critical points of a Morse function. In the end we conjecture another correspondence between quantum mechanics correlators and integrals of Massey products of certain cohomology classes., Comment: updated version
