Abstract

The Kruglov property and the Kruglov operator play an important role in the study of geometric properties of r.i. function spaces. We prove that the boundedness of the Kruglov operator in a r.i. space is equivalent to the uniform boundedness on this space of a sequence of operators defined by random permutations. Suppose $E$ is fully symmetric Banach function space on $(0,1)$ or $(0,\infty)$ or a fully symmetric Banach sequence space. We give necessary and sufficient conditions on $f\in E$ so that its orbit $\Omega(f)$ is the closed convex hull of its extreme points. We also give an application to symmetrically normed ideals of compact operators on a Hilbert space.

17. Analysis of Liquid Piston Compressibility in the Two-Stage Hybrid Positive-Displacement Machine

Abstract

The effect of liquid compressibility in the two-stage piston hybrid positive-displacement machine with a liquid piston was considered. Based on the volume conservation equation, we developed a calculus methodology for the liquid compressibility during gas compression in the second stage of the compressor section. A numerical experiment made it possible to establish that some parameters have the greatest effect on the relative decrease in the height and velocity of the liquid layer. These parameters are the degree of pressure ratio; pipeline length; the polytropic index of the compression; the number of crankshaft revolutions. We found that the relative decrease in the liquid layer height is within 1 %, and the relative decrease in the liquid piston velocity is within 5 %. The paper analyses the liquid piston compressibility influence on the thermodynamic efficiency of the compression process and compressor performance.

Abstract

This paper considers the new principle diagram of the positive displacement two-stage piston hybrid energy-generating machine. A prototype of the two-stage piston hybrid energy-generating machine has been developed based on the analysis of working processes and frames of piston hybrid energy-generating machines, as well as by using preliminary theoretical studies. This prototype allows to visualize the movement of the liquid piston in the second stage of the machine. A set of experimental studies on a previously developed and modernized test bench made it possible to prove the working capacity of the prototype, to measure the main thermodynamic and discharge parameters, and to identify the main features of the ongoing work processes.

Abstract

Differential threshold of discrimination of paired stimuli in relation to interimpulse interval has been investigated in man and porpoise. Similar features in mechanisms of discrimination of paired impulses in man and porpoise are noted. It was shown that threshold-interimpulse interval surve may be divided into several parts: two zones in which discrimination is made by different characters, and single transitional zone from one character to another.
