Background: Diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by high blood sugar levels, resulting from insulin resistance and the destruction of pancreatic beta cells. This disease is associated with several serious complications that are sometimes life-threatening to patients. One of these complications is that it can depression accompanies patients with type 2 diabetes, as it is a Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), and the most important symptoms are social isolation, sleep disturbances, lack of appetite, loss of desire, and passion for daily activities. Opinions differed about the origin of the emergence of this psychological disorder in terms of the involvement of multiple factors, including internal, and some of them are external to causing this disorder. In this study, we will shed light on one of the complications associated with diabetes, which is depression. Method and Results: This cross-sectional study included the selection of 128 individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes from the Diabetes and Endocrinology Center located in Najaf, Iraq from August 2023 to October 2023. The study included 43 men and 85 women. The ages of the participants ranged from 30 to 75 years. Patients were randomly selected during their visit to the center. Results: 31(24.2%) individuals did not manifest any symptoms of depression 75.78% suffered from depression, most of the depressed people were women, and the difference between the sexes was statistically significant p-value (0. 002). Conclusion; Our study highlights a striking connection between type 2 diabetes and depression, with a significantly higher incidence of depression in diabetic patients. Additionally, the fact that females are more likely to suffer from depression compared to males also calls for further research into other factors that could potentially exacerbate mental health issues in type 2 diabetes women.

Abstract Background Antigenic stimulation through cross-linking the IgE receptor and epithelial cell-derived cytokine IL-33 are potent stimuli of mast cell (MC) activation. Moreover, IL-33 primes a variety of cell types, including MCs to respond more vigorously to external stimuli. However, target genes induced by the combined IL-33 priming and antigenic stimulation have not been investigated in human skin mast cells (HSMCs) in a genome-wide manner. Furthermore, epigenetic changes induced by the combined IL-33 priming and antigenic stimulation have not been evaluated. Results We found that IL-33 priming of HSMCs enhanced their capacity to promote transcriptional synergy of the IL1B and CXCL8 genes by 16- and 3-fold, respectively, in response to combined IL-33 and antigen stimulation compared to without IL-33 priming. We identified the target genes in IL-33-primed HSMCs in response to the combined IL-33 and antigenic stimulation using RNA sequencing (RNA-seq). We found that the majority of genes synergistically upregulated in the IL-33-primed HSMCs in response to the combined IL-33 and antigenic stimulation were predominantly proinflammatory cytokine and chemokine genes. Moreover, the combined IL-33 priming and antigenic stimulation increase chromatin accessibility in the synergy target genes but not synergistically. Transcription factor binding motif analysis revealed more binding sites for NF-κB, AP-1, GABPA, and RAP1 in the induced or increased chromatin accessible regions of the synergy target genes. Conclusions Our study demonstrates that IL-33 priming greatly potentiates MCs’ ability to transcribe proinflammatory cytokine and chemokine genes in response to antigenic stimulation, shining light on how epithelial cell-derived cytokine IL-33 can cause exacerbation of skin MC-mediated allergic inflammation.

Background Recent studies have connected microribonucleic acid (miRNA) to several illnesses as a stimulant or inhibitor. Oxidative stress and thyroid diseases are connected to miRNA-22. The underlying pro- cesses remain unknown. In this study, hyperthyroid women’s miRNA-22 expression is linked to oxidative stress. Materials and Methods 40 women suffering from hyperthyroidism and 40 in this study, healthy volunteers who served as controls were in- cluded. The levels of serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) were mea- sured by sandwich assay, While the competitive binding immunoenzymatic assay was used to determine the levels of free triiodothyronine (FT3) and thyroxine (T4). To assess lipid profiles, an automated analyzer was em- ployed. By enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), Interleukin 6 (IL-6) levels were measured. Activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase activity (CAT), (MDA) malondialdehyde, and levels of advanced oxidation protein products (AOPPs) assessed using a colorimetric tech- nique. Thus, the difficulty of making decision in selecting any of the developmental alternatives seems easier for the situational planner as he has the programming methods and operations researches. The scientific method is used for making decision to suggest the developmental alternative which can achieve the strategic comprehension of the development elements and ensures the exploitation better to achieve the decree objectives. The method of decisions making theory is considered one scientific method which can be used in this regard. They mechanism of the decisions theory implies making more than one alternative to arrange the strategies and objectives in a matrix through which can make more than a case of making decision towards selecting the suitable situational strategy to achieve the objectives under the case of making decision brunt determined by the interdependent aspect in making decision. This necessitates knowledge of the developmental reality of the studied region or province. Therefore, the applied study of the developmental reality in the Karbala (region) province showed that there are two strategies that can be adopted to bring about spatial development in that province: the balanced growth strategy in the first, rational aspect drawn for sectors for development and the decision to maximize returns, and in the second aspect (cumulative) and the third (participatory), as well as the application proved the possibility of adopting the strategy of manufacturing and manufacturing for export in order to achieve a special type of goals at the lowest costs, whether in the case of certainty or risk, and this leaves the room clear for the decision maker to adopt any of the two strategies.

Abstract Background Gliomas are the commonest primary adults’ brain tumors. Hypoxia performs an essential role in gliomas’ initiation as well as progression through hypoxia inducible factor (HIF-1α) activation, which could serve as a promising target in treatment of gliomas. Our study aimed to evaluate types and grades of glioma cases and detect isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) mutation status and expression of HIF-1α in all included cases and its correlation with clinical data and pathological parameters. Results Samples from 71 patients who were diagnosed with glioma were studied immunohistochemically for IDH1-R132H (if indicated) and HIF-1α expression. Expression of HIF-1α was detected in 73.2% of the included 71 gliomas. HIF-1α expression significantly increased in older patients, in high-grade gliomas and in tumors positive for necrosis. We studied IDH1 mutation in the histologically diagnosed grade 2, 3and 4 astrocytic and oligodendroglial tumors (51 cases out of the included 71 gliomas). IDH1-R132H immunohistochemical expression was positive in 62.7% of cases. IDH1 mutation was significantly higher with younger age. IDH1 mutation was noted also with lower tumor grade. A statistically significant relation was detected between negative IDH1-R132H expression and high level of HIF-1α immunohistochemical expression. Conclusion Absence of IDH1 mutation with increased HIF-1α expression among high-grade gliomas suggesting both as predicting indicators for poor prognosis.

Background: Efavirenz (EFV) is associated with neuropsychiatric symptoms. Severe neurotoxicity has been reported but the clinical phenotype and risk factors are poorly defined. Objectives: To characterise clinical presentations, risk factors and outcomes to help clinicians recognise severe neurotoxicity earlier. Method: The authors retrospectively identified adults with supratherapeutic EFV concentrations ( 4 mg/L) obtained during routine clinical care in Cape Town, South Africa. Clinical and laboratory data at the time of EFV quantification were extracted from medical records. Logistic regression was performed to identify associations with neuropsychiatric symptoms, and with severe neurotoxicity. Results: Eighty one patients were included; 62 with neuropsychiatric manifestations (most frequently ataxia [n = 20] and psychomotor slowing [n = 24]); and 19 with hepatotoxicity. Overall, 28 (34.6%) were male, 49 (60.5%) had concomitant isoniazid exposure, and median EFV concentration was 12.1 mg/L (interquartile range [IQR]: 6.6–20.0). Neuropsychiatric symptoms were associated with longer duration of EFV therapy, adjusted odds ratio (aOR) 1.3/180-day increment (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.0–1.7); higher EFV concentrations, aOR 1.2/1 mg/L increase (95% CI: 1.0–1.4) and isoniazid exposure, aOR 8.2 (95% CI: 2.5–26.7). Severe neuropsychiatric symptoms occurred in 47 (75%) patients at a median of 5.9 months (IQR: 2.1–40.8) after EFV initiation. Severe symptoms odds were 1.2-fold higher (95% CI: 1.1–1.4) per 1 mg/L increase in EFV concentration. Symptoms resolved completely within 1 month in 25 (76%) patients with severe neurotoxicity who discontinued EFV. Conclusion: A concentration–effect relationship for severe neurotoxicity exists, which occurred late and resolved in most patients after EFV discontinuation. Contribution: The authors highlighted clinical heterogeneity and morbidity of EFV-associated neurotoxicity.

The natural radioactivity of the earth formations of Tar Al-Najaf region in Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf governorate has been studied , which is considered one of the most important archaeological areas in the province. As Tar Al-Najaf is one of the natural phenomena prominently present in the governorate, as it cuts sharply to form a rocky cliff, as well as overlooks from the southern end of a plateau Al-Najaf and on the sea of Al-Najaf, in a clear and surprising way, Al-Najaf flew, by selecting 30 sites to take soil samples from the region, and spectral measurements were made using gamma-ray spectroscopy (NaI(Tl)) . It was found that the specific activity of 238U, 232Th and 40K in the studied ranged between to with average , to (8.356±1.013) with average (21.728) and (475.391 ± 7.870) to (95.173 ± 1.994) with average (281.197) respectively. As per radium equivalent, it was between ( ) to (37.576) with average (68.678) , and the activity concentration index ranged between (0.756) to (0.272) with average (0.510) ) , while the external hazard index ranged from (0.272) to (0.101) , with rate (0.184) . Comparing the present results with the globally considered values, it was found that the radiation levels of the studied samples are within the permissible limits.

In recent years, research into the effects of torsion in concrete members and the impact of novel materials on torsional behavior has increased. Slurry Infiltrated Fiber Concrete (SIFCON) is a special kind of Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC). The purpose of this research is studying the influence of SIFCON on torsion behavior of reinforced concrete beams. In experimental program, five beam specimens are casted and tested under pure torsion. Two of them from normal concrete as a references, two from SIFCON with steel fiber volume 10% and the last beam was normal concrete strengthening by SIFCON with the steel fiber volume 10%. The results have been indicated enhancement in ultimate torsional moment of SIFCON beams when compared with reference, normal concrete beam. In addition, by reducing the twist angle and increasing torsional stiffness, the resistance moment of torsion was improved.

Background. The high mortality rate of a cranial bullet injury, the catastrophic damage of vital tissue, and the frequency of gunshot accidents made managing such cases highly effortful in neurosurgical trauma centres. One category of these injuries is the gravitational bullet injury, in which the bullet's movement depends on gravity after losing its kinetic energy. This paper aims to describe the conservative treatment plan we applied for a patient who suffered an intracranial gravitational bullet injury. Case description. The patient presented with a cranial bullet injury that migrated caudally to his lateral ventricle. This unapproachable location of the bullet made the surgical intervention undoable. Therefore, after the implication of resuscitative management, the patient went under heavy observation with a suitable follow-up plan. The patient's short-term outcome was excellent, and his Glasgow coma scale was 15 at the discharge. Conclusion. Conservative management in a gravitational bullet is one of the possible methods to reach the best outcome in non-operable patients. Such measures are highlighted in this case, even when a complication like a bullet migration may occur.

Mucosal antibodies maintain gut homeostasis, and may influence gut health through modulation of microbiota composition. Here the authors use a CD19-deficient mouse model with deficient B-cell immune responses to uncover an association between humoral immunodeficiency, dysbiosis, and perturbations to bile acid homeostasis in the gut in the context of glute-sensitive enteropathy.

Statement of the Problem. The use of orthodontic fixed appliances may adversely affect oral health leading to demineralizing lesions and the development of gingival problems. Aims of the Study. The study aimed to coat orthodontic archwires with chlorhexidine hexametaphosphate nanoparticles (CHX-HMP NPs) and to evaluate the elusion of CHX from CHX-HMP NPs. Materials and Methods. A solution of CHX-HMP nanoparticles with an overall concentration of 5 mM for both CHX and HMP was prepared, characterized (using atomic force microscope and Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy), and used to coat orthodontic stainless steel (SSW) and NiTi archwires (NiTiW). The coated segments were characterized (using scanning electron microscopy SEM with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry and field emission SEM) and subjected to the elusion assessment. Results. After having their composition validated, the average size of the CHX-HMP NPs was assessed to be 51.21 nm, and the analysis revealed that the particles had both chlorine and phosphorus. After 30 minutes in the coating solution, NPs deposited on the surface of the SSW and NiTiW. A continuous release of soluble CHX in artificial saliva was detected from both SSW and NiTiW as long as the experiment lasted for 28 days without reaching a plateau. However, the release from coated NiTiW was significantly more than coated SSW at 7, 14, and 28 days. While at day 21, the release from coated SSW was slightly greater than that from the coated NiTiW. Conclusion. Orthodontic stainless steel and NiTi archwires can be successfully coated with CHX-HMP NPs and give sustained release of CHX along the examined period.

Abstract Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is characterized by the gradual loss of renal function and is a major public health concern. Risk factors for CKD include hypertension and proteinuria, both of which are associated with endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. ER stress-induced TDAG51 protein expression is increased at an early time point in mice with CKD. Based on these findings, wild-type and TDAG51 knock-out (TDKO) mice were used in an angiotensin II/deoxycorticosterone acetate/salt model of CKD. Both wild-type and TDKO mice developed hypertension, increased proteinuria and albuminuria, glomerular injury, and tubular damage. However, TDKO mice were protected from apoptosis and renal interstitial fibrosis. Human proximal tubular cells were used to demonstrate that TDAG51 expression induces apoptosis through a CHOP-dependent mechanism. Further, a mouse model of intrinsic acute kidney injury demonstrated that CHOP is required for ER stress-mediated apoptosis. Renal fibroblasts were used to demonstrate that TGF-β induces collagen production through an IRE1-dependent mechanism; cells treated with a TGF-β receptor 1 inhibitor prevented XBP1 splicing, a downstream consequence of IRE1 activation. Interestingly, TDKO mice express significantly less TGF-β receptor 1, thus, preventing TGF-β-mediated XBP1 splicing. In conclusion, TDAG51 induces apoptosis in the kidney through a CHOP-dependent mechanism, while contributing to renal interstitial fibrosis through a TGF-β-IRE1-XBP1 pathway.

MicroRNA-155 (miR-155) has been implicated in IgE-dependent allergic disease including asthma and atopic dermatitis. A few roles for miR-155 have been described in mast cells and some specifically related to IgE receptor signaling, but it is not completely understood. Here, we demonstrate by miRNA seq profiling and quantitative RT-PCR that miR-155 expression is significantly increased in human skin-derived mast cells (SMCs) and mouse bone marrow-derived mast cells (BMMCs) following FcεRI crosslinking with antigen. We demonstrate that FcεRI-induced expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) was significantly inhibited in miR-155 knockout (KO) BMMCs whereas arachidonate-5-lipoxygenase (ALOX-5) expression and leukotriene C4 (LTC4) biosynthesis, and degranulation were unaffected. FcεRI-induced cytokine production (TNF, IL-6, and IL-13) from miR-155 KO BMMCs was also significantly diminished. Correspondingly, Akt phosphorylation, but not protein expression, was inhibited in the absence of miR-155 whereas p38 and p42/44 were unaffected. Interesting, lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced cytokine production was increased in miR-155 KO BMMCs. Together, these data demonstrate that miR-155 specifically targets the FcεRI-induced prostaglandin and cytokine pathways, but not the leukotriene or degranulation pathways, in mast cells. The data further suggest that miR-155 acts indirectly by targeting a repressor of COX-2 expression and a phosphatase that normally blocks Akt phosphorylation. Overall, this study reveals the role of miR-155 as a positive regulator of mast cell function.

Bu çalışmada, satın alınan miktarlara dayalı veri kümesinden otomatik olarak bilgi alınması ile veri kümesindeki ürünler arasındaki negatif birliktelik kurallarını bulma kabiliyetine sahip yeni bir teknik önerilmektedir. Birliktelik kuralı madenciliği, gözetimsiz veri madencilik tekniği olduğundan, sağlanan veri kümesi etiketsiz verilerden oluşmaktadır. DBSCAN kümeleme yönteminin kullanımı, gerçek yaşam işlem veri tabanında test edildiğinde %0,21 destek ve %91,84 güven ortalama değerleri ile 4.086 şeklinde daha iyi negatif birliktelik kuralı sonucu göstermiştir. K-ortalama kümeleme yönteminin kullanımı ile çıkarılan alan bilgisine dayalı negatif birliktelik kuralları madenciliği sonucu, %0,19 destek ve %85,84 güven ortalama değerine sahip 1.780 iken, önerilen alan bilgisiz negatif birliktelik kuralı sonucu %0,12 destek ve %99,37 güven ortalama değerli 9.066 sonucunu vermiştir.

Background:In Iraq, breast cancer is the commonest type of malignancy in females. The disease is a genetically and clinically heterogeneous. The cholesterol metabolite 27-Hydroxycholesterol (27HC), a primary metabolite of cholesterol and an estrogen receptor (ER) and Liver X receptor (LXR) ligand, increases ER-positive breast cancer. 27-hydroxycholesterol (27HC) is metabolized by oxysterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7B1), CYP7B1 expression has been decreased in ER-positive tumors compared with normal breast tissues. Objective: To study and investigate the possible association of clinic-pathological parameters 27HC and CYP7B1 level in sera of women with benign and malignant breast tumors and in control group by ELISA technique and Investigate the possible relationships of 27HC with CYP7B1. Methods: This case control study was conducted on sixty patients with breast diseases were divided into three group, group I contained twenty patients with benign breast diseases, group II consisted of twenty premenopausal patients with breast cancer. Group III comprised twenty postmenopausal patients with breast cancer with the mean age and standard deviation (25.25±7.87, 38.65±6.28, 58.5±7.02 years). 27HC and CYP7B1 were measured in tissues by instrument ELISA technique. Results: The tissue homogenates of women with premenopausal and postmenopausal breast cancer groups showed a significant elevation of 27HC in comparison with benign (p> 0.001), whereas there is no significant difference observed between both breast cancer groups (p= 0.542). The tissue homogenates of women with premenopausal and postmenopausal breast cancer groups showed a significant decrease of CYP7B1 concentration in comparison with benign (p= 0.003) and (p= 0.001), whereas there is no significant difference observed between both breast cancer groups (p= 0.868). Conclusion: A higher incidence of 27HC and a lower incidence CYP7B1 were obtained in malignant than benign breast tumor tissues with positive estrogen receptors. These indicate that the levels of 27HC and CYP7B1 in breast tumor tissues may be used as new biochemical markers for breast tumor prognosis. Mast cells are classically recognized as cells that cause IgE-mediated allergic reactions. However, their ability to store and secrete vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) suggests a role in vascular development and tumorigenesis. The current study sought to determine if other angiogenesis-related factors, in addition to VEGF, were also secreted by human tissue-derived mast cells. Using proteome array analysis and ELISA, we found that human skin-derived mast cells spontaneously secrete CXCL16, DPPIV, Endothelin-1, GM-CSF, IL-8, MCP-1, Pentraxin 3, Serpin E1, Serpin F1, TIMP-1, Thrombospondin-1, and uPA. We identified three groups based on their dependency for stem cell factor (SCF), which is required for mast cell survival: Endothelin-1, GM-CSF, IL-8, MCP-1, and VEGF (dependent); Pentraxin 3, Serpin E1, Serpin F1, TIMP-1, and Thrombospondin-1 (partly dependent); and CXCL16, DPPIV, and uPA (independent). Crosslinking of FcεRI with multivalent antigen enhanced the secretion of GM-CSF, Serpin E1, IL-8, and VEGF, and induced Amphiregulin and MMP-8 expression. Interestingly, FcεRI signals inhibited the spontaneous secretion of CXCL16, Endothelin-1, Serpin F1, Thrombospondin-1, MCP-1 and Pentraxin-3. Furthermore, IL-6, which we previously showed could induce VEGF, significantly enhanced MCP-1 secretion. Overall, this study identified several angiogenesis-related proteins that, in addition to VEGF, are spontaneously secreted at high concentrations from human skin-derived mast cells. These findings provide further evidence supporting an intrinsic role for mast cells in blood vessel formation.

The aim of present study was to formulate and evaluate oral jellies containing granisetron (GSN). This new dosage form was designed for administration of the drug to specific aged patients (i.e. pediatric) in certain condition. GSN is an antiemetic which is usually used for the treatment of nausea and vomiting induced by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The selection of this dosage form was based on its acceptability by pediatric population, ease of use and no need for water after taking the dose. In this study, two types of natural jellifying agents have been used in different concentrations. The natural jellifying agents which have been used were pectin and sodium alginate. The effect of jellifying agent and their concentrations have been investigated. Oral jell was prepared by heat and congealing method. Then investigations were done by measuring the pH, content uniformity, syneresis, stability, general appearance and production yield. The investigations showed that the formulation F3 with 5% pectin is the best one.

Objective: To evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of Calretinin and Carcinoembryonic antigen as immunocytochemical markers in distinguishing mesothelial cells from metastatic adenocarcinoma cells in effusion cytology.Methods: This study included 50 patients who presented with effusions (26 pleural and 24 peritoneal), at Al-Kadhimya Teaching Hospital who were selected according to their preliminary diagnosis from 1st December 2010 to 30th June 2011. Effusion fluids were aspirated and processed for both conventional cytological methods using Papanicolaou-stain and immunocytochemical staining with anti Calretinin and Carcinoembryonic antigen.Results: The sensitivity of cytology for detection of malignant cells was 77%, with 100% specificity and 86% accuracy. Calretinin was observed to be a specific (100%) and sensitive (90%) marker for mesothelial cells (of benign etiology). Carcinoembryonic antigen exhibited 70% sensitivity and 100% specificity for adenocarcinoma cells. When the results of both cytology and immunocytochemistry were considered in conjunction, the sensitivity for the detection of malignancy increased to 97%, with 100% specificity and 98% accuracy.Conclusion: Calretinin and Carcinoembryonic antigen were found to be useful markers for differentiating reactive mesothelial cells from metastatic adenocarcinoma cells in smears prepared from body fluids. Also, the combination of both cytology and immunocytochemical studies using the two markers can greatly enhance the diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity and specificity in malignant effusions.

This study was carried out to investigate cytogenetic effects of chronic exposure of an immunosuppressant Tacrolimus in male albino rats. Thirty albino male rats were divided into 3 equal groups, the first one (T1) administrated orally therapeutic dose 70μg/kg.BW of Tacrolimus. The second group(T2) dosed double dose 140 μg/kg.BW of Tacrolimus, while the third group dosed distilled water with drops of ethanol as solvent like in treated groups and considered as control one(C). cytogenetic study included mitotic index, chromosomal aberration and blast index, the mitotic index showed significant decrease in both treated groups compared with the control one, the blast index showed significant decrease in T2 group compared with T1 and the control group. Chromosomal aberration in the stem cells of bone marrow represented by ring chromosome observed in T2 group which received double dose of drug. In conclusion Tacrolimus chronic exposure in rats indicate some genetic effect which needed more investigations in other species and even man.

The chronic inflammatory response is emerging as an important therapeutic target in progressive chronic kidney disease. A key transcription factor in the induction of chronic inflammation is NF-κB. Recent studies have demonstrated that sustained activation of the unfolded protein response (UPR) can initiate this NF-κB signaling phenomenon and thereby induce chronic kidney disease progression. A key factor influencing chronic kidney disease progression is proteinuria and this condition has now been demonstrated to induce sustained UPR activation. This review details the crosstalk between the UPR and NF-κB pathways as pertinent to chronic kidney disease. We present potential tools to study this phenomenon as well as potential therapeutics that are emerging to regulate the UPR. These therapeutics may prevent inflammation specifically induced in the kidney due to proteinuria-induced sustained UPR activation.

Urinary tract infections (UTI) are considered one of the most common infections that occur in the pediatric age group, leading to very serious morbidity and mortality. The detection of risk factors for urinary tract infection helps in the management and prevention of the recurrence of the infection. This study attempts to review current information on UTIs and determine different risk factors in association. To study the risk factors that are associated with recurrent urinary tract infection in different age groups of childhood among children attending AL Zahra Teaching Hospital. A case-control study was conducted in AL Zahra Teaching Hospital during the period from October 1st, 2021, to July 30th, 2022. It included 76 children with highly suggestive histories, their examination, and results of the investigations (e.g. urine cultures), as well as 150 healthy children who were taken as controls. The controls were without a history of recurrent UTI and were similar to patients in age, sex and other risk factors that were mentioned in the study. A completed questionnaire was given to each child's mother, and then the results were analyzed. The study showed that non educated mothers OR (3.2), vesicouetrerall reflux OR (3), uncircumcised male OR (2.94), female gender OR (2.7), age groups below than 6 years OR (2.4), low social class OR (2.1) and residency in rural area (OR 2.5) contributed to UTI issues. When compared to control groups, non educated mothers and vesicoureteral reflux were highly significant risk factors, and other risk factors such as female gender, uncircumcised male, age less than 6 years, low social class and rural area were significant for febrile recurrent urinary tract infection in children. Background: Recent research has linked the spread of microribonucleic acid (miRNA) to numerous disorders, either as a stimulant or an inhibitor. One of these is miRNA-22, which research has connected to oxidative stress and thyroid issues. However, the underlying mechanisms are unknown. This study investigates the expression of miRNA-22 in hypothyroid women and its relationship to the rise in oxidative stress in the patient population. Materials and Methods: 40 women patients with Hypothyroid and 40 in this study, healthy volunteers who served as controls were included. The levels of serum luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) were measured by sandwich assay, while free triiodothyronine (FT3) and thyroxine (T4) levels were measured competitive binding immunoenzymatic assay. To assess lipid profiles, an automated analyzer was employed. By enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), Interleukin 6 (IL-6) levels were measured. Malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase activity (SOD), catalase activity (CAT), and advanced oxidation protein products (AOPPs), and assessed using a colorimetric technique. The quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to evaluate the expression of serum miRNA-22. Results: Significantly more SOD and CAT activity was identified in patient groups than in the control group (P<0.05), also the patient group's AOPP and MDA concentrations were discovered to significantly outweigh those of the control group. (P< 0.05). IL-6 levels were significantly higher in the patient group than in (P<0.05) the control group. The level of miRNA-22 was higher in the sick group as compared to the control groups (P<0.05). Conclusions: The pathophysiology of oxidative stress brought on by hypothyroidism involves miRNA-22 expression, there is a reciprocal relationship between the increase in gene expression of the miRNA-22 and the increase in oxidative stress, which results in the disease's development. Background: Diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by high blood sugar levels, resulting from insulin resistance and the destruction of pancreatic beta cells. This disease is associated with several serious complications that are sometimes life-threatening to patients. One of these complications is that it can depression accompanies patients with type 2 diabetes, as it is a Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), and the most important symptoms are social isolation, sleep disturbances, lack of appetite, loss of desire, and passion for daily activities. Opinions differed about the origin of the emergence of this psychological disorder in terms of the involvement of multiple factors, including internal, and some of them are external to causing this disorder. In this study, we will shed light on one of the complications associated with diabetes, which is depression. Method and Results: This cross-sectional study included the selection of 128 individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes from the Diabetes and Endocrinology Center located in Najaf, Iraq from August 2023 to October 2023. The study included 43 men and 85 women. The ages of the participants ranged from 30 to 75 years. Patients were randomly selected during their visit to the center. Results: 31(24.2%) individuals did not manifest any symptoms of depression 75.78% suffered from depression, most of the depressed people were women, and the difference between the sexes was statistically significant p-value (0. 002). Conclusion; Our study highlights a striking connection between type 2 diabetes and depression, with a significantly higher incidence of depression in diabetic patients. Additionally, the fact that females are more likely to suffer from depression compared to males also calls for further research into other factors that could potentially exacerbate mental health issues in type 2 diabetes women. Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in female and the most registered cause of women's mortality worldwide. BI-RADS 4 breast lesions are associated with an exceptionally high rate of benign breast pathology and breast cancer, so BI-RADS 4 is subdivided into 4A, 4B and 4C to standardize the risk estimation of breast lesions. The aim of the study: to evaluate the correlation between BI-RADS 4 subdivisions 4A, 4B & 4C and the categories of reporting FNA cytology results. A case series study was conducted in the Oncology Teaching Hospital in Baghdad from September 2018 to September 2019. Included patients had suspicious breast findings and given BI-RADS 4 (4A, 4B, or 4C) in the radiological report accordingly. Fine needle aspiration was performed under the ultrasound guide and the results were classified into five categories. The biopsy was performed for suspicious, malignant or equivocal FNA findings. This study included 158 women with BI-RADS 4 breast lesions with the mean age of (44.6 years); There was a highly significant association between BI-RADS 4 breast lesion and FNA results (p<0.001); 51.9% of BI-RADS IV-C had C5 FNA results. There was a highly significant association between BI-RADS 4 lesion and the final diagnosis (p<0.001); 41.2% of BI-RADS 4 B had a malignant breast lesion, while 37.3% of BI-RADS 4 C had a malignant lesion. A clear relationship was observed between BI-RADS 4 subcategories and the fine needle aspiration cytology subgroups. BI-RADS 4-B is helpful in the discrimination between benign and malignant breast lesions; furthermore BI-RADS 4C has more acceptable validity in the diagnosis of breast malignancy. Therefore, BI-RADS subcategories are encouraged to be included and mentioned in the ultrasound report for more accurate estimation of the lesion nature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
