Abstract Belief and plausibility functions based on evidence theory (ET) have been widely used in managing uncertainty. Various generalizations of ET to fuzzy sets (FSs) have been reported in the literature, but no generalization of ET to q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets (q-ROFSs) has been made yet. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel, simple, and intuitive approach to distance and similarity measures for q-ROFSs based on belief and plausibility functions within the framework of ET. This research addresses a significant research gap by introducing a comprehensive framework for handling uncertainty in q-ROFSs using ET. Furthermore, it acknowledges the limitations inherent in the current state of research, notably the absence of generalizations of ET to q-ROFSs and the challenges in extending belief and plausibility measures to certain aggregation operators and other generalizations including Hesitant fuzzy sets, Bipolar fuzzy sets, Fuzzy soft sets etc. Our contribution lies in the proposal of a novel approach to distance and similarity measures for q-ROFSs under ET, utilizing Orthopairian belief and plausibility intervals (OBPIs). We establish new similarity measures within the generalized ET framework and demonstrate the reasonability of our method through useful numerical examples. Additionally, we construct Orthopairian belief and plausibility GRA (OBP-GRA) for managing daily life complex issues, particularly in multicriteria decision-making scenarios. Numerical simulations and results confirm the usability and practical applicability of our proposed method in the framework of ET.

Abstract Non-zero spin orbit coupling has been reported in several unconventional superconductors due to the absence of inversion symmetry breaking. This contrasts with cuprate superconductors, where such interaction has been neglected for a long time. The recent report of a non-trivial spin orbit coupling in overdoped Bi2212 cuprate superconductor, has re-opened an old debate on both the source and role of such interaction and its evolution throughout the superconducting dome. Using high-resolution spin- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, we reveal a momentum-dependent spin texture throughout the hole-doped side of the superconducting phase diagram for single- and double-layer bismuth-based cuprates. The universality of the reported effect among different dopings and the disappearance of spin polarization upon lead substitution, suggest a common source. We argue that local structural fluctuations of the CuO planes and the resulting charge imbalance may cause local inversion symmetry breaking and spin polarization, which might be crucial for understanding cuprates physics.

Abstract Clematis graveolens Lindl., an indigenous climbing plant found in the Himalayan areas, is used by local communities for the treatment of neck tumors. The objective of this work is to examine the comprehensive metabolomic profile, antioxidant capability, in vitro and in silico anti-glioma effects on U-87 human glioma cell lines of the crude extract and fractions from C. graveolens. Liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectroscopy (LC–MS/MS) was used to establish detailed metabolite profiling of C. graveolens. The assessment of cell cytotoxicity was conducted using MTT cell viability assay on U-87 and BHK-21. Through molecular docking studies, the mode of inhibition and binding interaction between identified compounds and target proteins were also determined to evaluate the in vitro results. The use of LC–MS/MS-based global natural products social (GNPS) molecular networking analysis resulted in the identification of 27 compounds. The crude extract, ethyl acetate fraction, and chloroform fraction exhibited significant inhibitory activity against the U-87 cell lines, with IC50 values of 112.0, 138.1, and 142.7 µg/mL, respectively. The ethyl acetate fraction exhibited significant inhibitory concentration for 2,2’-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) activity, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) activity and the metal chelation activity with IC50 value of 39.50 µg/mL, 32.27 µg/mL, and 53.46 µg/mL, respectively. The crude extract showed maximum total phenolic, and total flavonoid concentration measuring 338.7 µg GAE/mg, and 177.04 µg QE/mg, respectively. The findings of this study indicate that C. graveolens consists of a diverse range of active phytoconstituents that possess antioxidant and anti-glioma properties.

Abstract The current code provisions in ACI 440.11 are based on the flexural theory that applies to slender members and may not represent the actual structural behavior when the shear span-to-reinforcement depth ratio is less than 2.5 (i.e., deep members). The Strut-and-tie method (STM) can be a better approach to design deep members; however, this chapter is not included in the code. Research has shown that STM models used for steel-reinforced concrete (RC) give satisfactory results when applied to glass fiber-reinforced polymer-reinforced (GFRP)-RC members with a/d less than 2.5. Therefore, this study is carried out to provide insights into the use of STM for GFRP-RC deep members based on the available literature and to highlight the necessity for the inclusion of a new chapter addressing the use of STM in the ACI 440.11 Code. It includes a design example to show the implications of ACI 440.11 code provisions when applied to GFRP-RC deep members (i.e., isolated footings) and compares it when designed as per STM provided in ACI 318-19. It was observed that current code provisions in ACI 440.11 required more concrete thickness (i.e., h = 1.12 m) leading to implementation challenges. However, the required dimensions decreased (i.e., h = 0.91 m) when the design was carried out as per STM. Due to the novelty of GFRP reinforcement, current code provisions may limit its extensive use in RC buildings, particularly in footings given the water table issues and excavation costs. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt innovative methods such as STM to design GFRP-RC deep members if allowed by the code.

ABSTRACT Malware growth has accelerated due to the widespread use of Android applications. Android smartphone attacks have increased due to the widespread use of these devices. While deep learning models offer high efficiency and accuracy, training them on large and complex datasets is computationally expensive. Hence, a method that effectively detects new malware variants at a low computational cost is required. A transfer learning method to detect Android malware is proposed in this research. Because of transferring known features from a source model that has been trained to a target model, the transfer learning approach reduces the need for new training data and minimizes the need for huge amounts of computational power. We performed many experiments on 1.2 million Android application samples for performance evaluation. In addition, we evaluated how well our framework performed in comparison with traditional deep learning and standard machine learning models. In comparison with state‐of‐the‐art Android malware detection methods, the proposed framework offers improved classification accuracy of 98.87%, a precision of 99.55%, recall of 97.30%, F1‐measure of 99.42%, and a quicker detection rate of 5.14 ms using the transfer learning strategy.

Abstract Online social networks (OSNs) have reduced global boundaries, with Twitter enabling perspective sharing. Bot profile‐propagated false information misuse raises serious concerns. Considering this issue, we present our research on classifying Twitter accounts as “human” or “bot” using deep neural networks and transfer learning. Our proposed approach, TL‐PBot, stands for bot profile detection using transfer learning. The TL‐PBot framework utilizes Twitter account metadata such as follower count. Our TL‐PBot also incorporates text data from the Twitter description field as a feature. Word representation of the text data is achieved using Global Vectors (GloVe), a pre‐trained model. By employing user profile‐based features, we significantly reduce the overhead of feature engineering. The hybrid nature of the model enables it to effectively handle mixed‐type features, including text, binary, and numerical data. We design the network using long‐short‐term memory (LSTM) units. DNN model layers were trained, and the weights of the pre‐trained model layers were frozen to apply the transfer learning, resulting in reduced training time and improved bot profile detection accuracy. The performance of the proposed TL‐PBot is evaluated using publicly available datasets. The proposed approach is trained and tested on the same datasets and further evaluated on the validation datasets that were not used in the training phase, which is also a novelty in our approach. Comparative analysis with state‐of‐the‐art approaches demonstrates that the TL‐PBot approach achieves a higher accuracy of 98.07%, while excelling in precision of 99%, recall of 98%, f measure of 98.32%, and AUC of 0.99. Employing the transfer learning strategy resulted in an accelerated detection rate of 5.04 milliseconds, attesting to the effectiveness of this approach in enhancing computational efficiency.

Bone fractures are common occurrence in clinical settings, creating a high demand for effective repair material. Unfortunately, limited graft availability, donor site morbidities, unpredictable clinical outcomes, immunologic reactions, infection risks, and geometrical mismatching concerns hampered tissue graft use and underscored the need for scaffolds for more effective bone reconstructions due to their tunable properties. Significant progress has been carried out in past decade in the fields of nanoceramics synthesis, bioconjugate chemistry, and composite material processing. This review outlines hierarchical structures and biology of bone tissue, materialistic components of scaffolds (bioceramics, polymers, bioactive drugs), featured scaffolding strategies (nanofibers, hydrogels, aerogels, bioprinting, and fiber-reinforced composite), and emphasis that hierarchical and physiochemical characteristics of bone should be used as an inspiration for scaffold design. This review discussed how differences in materiobiological aspects of scaffolds, such as polymer/bioceramic nanocomposite, mineralized nanocomposite, matrix-rich nanocomposite, 3D microenvironmental cues, pore space cues, mechanical cues, usage of physical stimulation (magnetic, electroactive, and photoactivated cues), surface cues (wettability, roughness, textured, and surface charge), and biointerface cues (cell–biomaterial interactions, cell-selective homing, and cell regulatory strategies) modulate cellular and biological response for bone tissue engineering. This study further outlines the challenges and benefits of integrating materiobiological cues of scaffolds for bone tissue engineering.

Objective: To study the adjuvant per-operative epidural administration of Triamcinolone in lumbar disc surgery to alleviate post-operative pain. Study Design: Quasi-experimental study. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Neurosurgery, Combined Military Hospital, Rawalpindi Pakistan, from Oct 2021 to Sep 2022 Methodology: Hundred patients aged 20 to 80 years, of either gender, with a single-level prolapsed intervertebral disc and nerve root compression were included and underwent unilateral single-level decompression. A pre-operative MRI scan of the lumbo-sacral spine was done to confirm the diagnosis. All patients initially received conservative management (analgesics and physiotherapy) but failed to respond to it. They were divided into two groups by the lottery method. In Group A, an epidural steroid was administered, while Group B acted as the control. Pain was recorded pre-operatively at 24 hours and then at 1 and 2 weeks post-operatively using the Visual Analogue Scale. Results: The pre-operative median VAS of Groups A and B was not significant at pre-operation. After 24 hours of operation, the median VAS of Group A patients was VAS 3 (1), while in Group-B it was 2 (1), (p-value of 0.001). After 1 week, the median VAS of Group-A patients was 2 (2) and Group- B was 3 (1), with a significant p value of 0.024. After 2 weeks, the median VAS of Group-A patients was 1 (1) and Group B was 2 (1), with a significant p value of 0.015. Objective: To compare the frequency of anastomotic leakage in interrupted versus continuous, single layer extramucosal anastomotic techniques in jejunum. Study Design: Quasi-experimental study. Place and Duration of Study: Combined Military Hospital, Multan Pakistan, from Feb 2020 to Feb 2021. Methodology: Patients aged 15-60 years, from the indoor surgical department of the hospital who required jejunal anastomosis were selected. Patients were categorized as Group-A (interrupted single layer extra mucosal anastomosis) or Group-B (continuous single layer extra mucosal anastomosis). Results: The mean age was 43±9.5 years in Group-A and 41.6±10.1 years in Group-B. Eighteen patients (56.3%) in Group-A and 21(65.6%) in Group-B were male while 14 patients (43.67%) in Group-A and 11(34.4%) in Group-B were females. Frequency of anastomotic leakage was recorded as one patient (3.13%) in Group-A and 3(9.38%) in Group-B while rest of the patients in both groups had no anastomotic leakage (p=0.302). Chi square test was applied, which showed statistically insignificant difference between the two groups (p=0.32) Conclusion: Comparatively higher frequency of anastomotic leakage was recorded in patients treated with continuous as compared to interrupted suturing but the results were statistically insignificant.

The tolerance to salinity stress is an intricate phenomenon at cellular and whole plant level that requires the knowledge of contributing physiological and biochemical processes and the genetic control of participating traits. In this context, present study was conducted with objective to evaluate the physiological, biochemical, and genetic responses of different wheat genotypes including bread wheat (BW) and synthetic hexaploids (SHs) under saline and control environment. The experiment was conducted in two factorial arrangement in randomized complete block design (RCBD), with genotypes as one factor and treatments as another factor. A significant decline in physiological traits (chlorophyll, photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, transpiration, and cell membrane stability) was observed in all genotypes due to salt stress; however, this decline was higher in BW genotypes as compared to four SH genotypes. In addition, the biochemical traits including enzymes [superoxide dismutase, catalase, and peroxidase (POD)] activity, proline, and glycine betaine (GB) illustrated significant increase along with increase in the expression of corresponding genes (TaCAT1, TaSOD, TaPRX2A, TaP5CS, and TaBADH-A1) due to salt stress in SHs as compared to BW. Correspondingly, highly overexpressed genes, TaHKT1;4, TaNHX1, and TaAKT1 caused a significant decline in Na+/K+ in SH as compared to BW genotypes under salt stress. Moreover, correlation analysis, principal component analysis (PCA), and heatmap analysis have further confirmed that the association and expression of physiological and biochemical traits varied significantly with salinity stress and type of genotype. Overall, the physiological, biochemical, and genetic evaluation proved SHs as the most useful stock for transferring salinity tolerance to other superior BW cultivars via the right breeding program.

The aim of the current study was to explore the potential of human plasma-derived exosomes as versatile carriers for drug delivery by employing various active and passive loading methods. Exosomes were isolated from human plasma using differential centrifugation and ultrafiltration method. Drug loading was achieved by employing sonication and freeze thaw methods, facilitating effective drug encapsulation within exosomes for delivery. Each approach was examined for its effectiveness, loading efficiency and ability to preserve membrane stability. Methotrexate (MTX), a weak acid model drug was loaded at a concentration of 2.2 µM to exosomes underwent characterization using various techniques such as particle size analysis, transmission electron microscopy and drug loading capacity. Human plasma derived exosomes showed a mean size of 162.15 ± 28.21 nm and zeta potential of −30.6 ± 0.71 mV. These exosomes were successfully loaded with MTX demonstrated a better drug encapsulation of 64.538 ± 1.54 % by freeze thaw method in comparison 55.515 ± 1.907 % by sonication. In-vitro drug release displayed 60 % loaded drug released within 72 h by freeze thaw method that was significantly different from that by sonication method i.e., 99 % within 72 h (p value 0.0045). Moreover, cell viability of exosomes loaded by freeze thaw method was significantly higher than that by sonication method (p value 0.0091) suggested that there was membrane disruption by sonication method. In conclusion, this study offers valuable insights into the potential of human plasma-derived exosomes loaded by freeze thaw method suggest as a promising carrier for improved drug loading and maintenance of exosomal membrane integrity.

Abstract The present research deals with the English as second language apprentices’ reading comprehension and receptive linguistic retention using the sandwich approach for the first language and making the way of communication simple by the use of electronic glossing in the education sector of Pakistan. The leading objectives of the article were to explore whether the learners who have approach to electronic glosses have better reading scores than the ones who have no access to electronic glosses in an ESL classroom and to investigate whether the learners who have access to electronic glosses have a higher vocabulary than the ones who have no access to electronic glosses in an ESL classroom. A quantitative research method was adopted to carry out this research. The data was collected from 40 students at a private school in Rawalpindi with different socio-economic backgrounds. The collected data was analyzed by three different analyses of variance (ANOVA) conducted to get the results of reading comprehension of the students followed by instant vocabulary test, and delayed vocabulary test. Moreover, four univariate analyses of the covariate (ANCOVAs) were introduced to examine the hypotheses using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS-24) software. The results of present study demonstrated the benefits of the electronic glossing in ESL classroom. The use of electronic glossing should not be neglected while learning English as second language in the private education sector of Pakistan, where direct method is used for teaching English as second language.

Rhyacophila masudi sp. nov. from Northwest Himalaya of India is described and illustrated. The species mostly occurs in the Pir Panjal Region of Jammu and Kashmir, India. With this new addition, the genus Rhyacophila is represented by 166 valid species from India.

Two new records of the genus Lepidostoma Rambur are reported from India. These include L. diespiter (Malicky & Sangpradub, 2001) and L. kamba (Mosely, 1939b) collected from Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in India. With these new additions, the genus Lepidostoma Rambur is represented by 51 valid species from India. Complete redescriptions of these two species with illustrations are also provided. Also, L. sonomax (Mosely, 1939) is reported from Uttarakhand for the first time. Potential threats to these species and other freshwater biota are noted.

This study aimed to synthesize novel compounds as more effective carbonic anhydrase II inhibitors. For this purpose, 2-(3-methoxy-4-(prop-2-yn-1-yloxy)phenyl)-4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazole (3) was reacted with 3-methoxy-4-(prop-2-yn-1-yloxy)benzaldehyde through the glyoxal reaction to produce a series of imidazole-based 1,2,3-triazoles 5a-f. The synthesized compounds were structurally confirmed using IR, 1H, and 13C NMR techniques. To evaluate their potential as inhibitors of carbonic anhydrase II enzyme, the synthesized compounds were tested via in vitro enzyme inhibition assay. Among the derivatives, compounds 5f and 5a exhibited the most promising inhibitory potential, with IC50 values of 0.025 ± 0.001 and 0.032 ± 0.003 µM, respectively. Both 5a and 5f derivatives have comparable inhibitory potential but 5f was found to be more potent than 5a: Molecular docking analysis revealed that compounds 5a and 5f displayed excellent binding scores of -8.0 and -8.4 kcal mol-1, respectively. The results were further validated by MD simulations. The RMSD analysis revealed the average values of 3.20 Å for the ligand-protein complex, 1.38 Å for the apoprotein, and 7.15 Å for the ligand molecule. Based on the chemical stability and biological importance, the compound 5f was identified as potential lead candidates for the development of more effective carbonic anhydrase II inhibitors.

Globally, the occurrence of skin cancers has been increasing day by day due to unprotected skin and exposure to UV radiation. This research is focused toward the evaluation of the antioxidant potential of an OH-free flavanone derivative that was synthesized by using 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane–polyethylene glycol (DABCO-PEG) 400. Ionic liquid was prepared via the alkylation of DABCO using 1-pentyl bromide followed by mixing with PEG 400. The structure of the synthesized molecules was characterized through single-crystal XRD. The target flavanone, viz., 2-(4-isobutylphenyl)chroman-4-one, was subjected to free radical activity. In addition, in silico studies were carried out with proteins ribonucleotide reductase and tyrosinase and isobutyl containing flavanone, viz., 2-(4-isobutylphenyl)chroman-4-one. The flavanone 2-(4-isobutylphenyl)chroman-4-one showed significant inhibition at a concentration of 25 μg/ml compared to vitamin C, which was also supported by the molecular docking studies. The flavanones exhibit binding energies of −6.45 and −6.83 kcal/mol for ribonucleotide reductase and tyrosinase, respectively. The results were further validated by molecular dynamic simulations, which recommended that further investigation of this flavanone must be carried out before using it in potent drug discovery in the field of skin cancer.

Soybean is an important oilseed crop worldwide; however, it has a high sensitivity to temperature variation, particularly at the vegetative stage to the pod-filling stage. Temperature change affects physiochemical and genetic traits regulating the soybean agronomic yield. In this regard, the current study aimed to comparatively evaluate the effects of varying regimes of day and night temperatures (T1 = 20°C/12°C, T2 = 25°C/17°C, T3 = 30°C/22°C, T4 = 35°C/27°C, and T5 = 40°C/32°C) on physiological (chlorophyll, photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, transpiration, and membrane damage) biochemical (proline and antioxidant enzymes), genetic (GmDNJ1, GmDREB1G;1, GmHSF-34, GmPYL21, GmPIF4b, GmPIP1;6, GmGBP1, GmHsp90A2, GmTIP2;6, and GmEF8), and agronomic traits (pods per plant, seeds per plant, pod weight per plant, and seed yield per plant) of soybean cultivars (Swat-84 and NARC-1). The experiment was performed in soil plant atmosphere research (SPAR) units using two factorial arrangements with cultivars as one factor and temperature treatments as another factor. A significant increase in physiological, biochemical, and agronomic traits with increased gene expression was observed in both soybean cultivars at T4 (35°C/27°C) as compared to below and above regimes of temperatures. Additionally, it was established by correlation, principal component analysis (PCA), and heatmap analysis that the nature of soybean cultivars and the type of temperature treatments have a significant impact on the paired association of agronomic and biochemical traits, which in turn affects agronomic productivity. Furthermore, at corresponding temperature regimes, the expression of the genes matched the expression of physiochemical traits. The current study has demonstrated through extensive physiochemical, genetic, and biochemical analyses that the ideal day and night temperature for soybeans is T4 (35°C/27°C), with a small variation having a significant impact on productivity from the vegetative stage to the grain-filling stage.

Silver oxide (Ag2O) particles are wonderful candidates due to their unique properties, and their use in a wide range of research, industrial and biomedical applications is rapidly increasing. This makes it fundamental to develop simple, environmentally friendly methods with possible scaling. Herein, sodium borohydride and Datura innoxia leaf extract were applied as chemical and biological stabilizing and reducing agents to develop Ag2O particles. The primary aim was to evaluate the anticancer and antiviral activity of Ag2O particles prepared via two methods. XRD, UV-visible and SEM analyses were used to examine the crystallite structure, optical properties and morphology, respectively. The resulting green-synthesized Ag2O particles exhibited small size, spherically agglomerated shape, and high anticancer and antiviral activities compared to chemically synthesized Ag2O particles. The MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5 diphenyltetrazolium-bromide) assay of green-synthesized Ag2O particles showed high anticancer activity against MCF-7 cells with IC50 = 17.908 µg/mL compared to chemically synthesized Ag2O particles with IC50 = 23.856 µg/mL. The antiviral activity of green-synthesized Ag2O particles and chemically synthesized Ag2O particles was also evaluated by a plaque-forming assay, and green-synthesized Ag2O particles showed higher antiviral ability with IC50 = 0.618 µg/mL as compared to chemically synthesized Ag2O particles with IC50 = 6.129 µg/mL. We propose the use of green-synthesized Ag2O particles in cancer treatment and drug delivery.

Escherichia coli is quite a common and sometimes pathogenic bacterium that can cause acute to severe infection in poultry birds affecting their performance. E. coli can also cause a few extra-intestinal infections too in poultry birds. Nowadays antimicrobial resistance is quite a menace which is reported from several gram-negative bacteria including E. coli. These traits in E. coli are governed by a few β-lactamases producing genes which may also be associated with plasmids in the pathogen. This study aimed to detect the presence of extended-spectrum (ESBL) and AmpC (ACBL) beta-lactamases producing E. Coli from fecal samples of diseased and apparently healthy poultry birds from different districts of West Bengal, India. A total of 177 (62.32%) E. coli isolates were detected and confirmed from the poultry fecal samples/ cloacal swabs (n=284) collected in this study. All isolates were typical in morphology. One hundred thirty-two (74.58%) bacterial isolates were positive for phenotypical beta-lactamases production, of which 83 (46.89%) were positive for phenotypical ACBL production. A total of 41 and 17 isolates were found to be positive for PCR detection of the blaCTXM and blaSHV genes respectively. No blaTEM gene was detected. Again 95 (53.67%) isolates possessed the blaAmpC gene as detected in this study. Antibiogram of the ESBLproducing E. coli isolates (49) revealed a significantly high level of resistance against most of the commonly used antimicrobials like ceftriaxone, ampicillin (both 100%), cefotaxime (97.96%), ceftazidime (91.84%) amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (85.71%), azithromycin, tetracycline, norfloxacin (@70-75%). These isolates were found to be sensitive (@ 96-81%) against a few antimicrobials, viz. amikacin, imipenem, gentamicin, and ampicillin/sulbactam which is a major point of concern.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to expose the playout of power dynamics when a new business intelligence (BI) system is implemented in a central pharmacy department in a National Health Service (NHS) hospital. The authors aim to explore the assumptions, experiences and actions of organisational stakeholders and ascertain how different professional groups obtain influence, power and control during this process. Design/methodology/approach – In this research the authors employ structuration theory (ST), to establish how and where domination is achieved. To achieve this, the authors investigate the production and reproduction of structure as part of a longitudinal assessment using interviews and questionnaires. Findings – Constant renewal and evolution are crucial in the implementation of a BI system. During the process of implementation and change many stakeholders resent the change. Disempowering these users leads to new power structures led by BI analysts. Practical implications – The findings from this paper can help strengthen implications of BI systems implementation and better understand the impact these systems have on wider stakeholders. With coherent communication and an engaged attitude new BI systems can be implemented without alienating the key user stakeholders. Originality/value – This paper differs from other papers by advocating that new systems and processes alter individual power structures in organisations, disrupting internal dynamics and introducing new aspects of control and dominance.

Infrastructure and geography are the most important components of international trade. They provide trade-oriented amenities for the trade volume among trading partners. Thus, this study assesses the simultaneous impact of infrastructure and geographic factors on trade in Asian economies from 2004 to 2020. This work contributes to the existing literature by exploring the significance of infrastructure and geography in international trade. Furthermore, this research seeks to determine whether these factors have complementary or simultaneous effects. To examine these aspects, the augmented gravity model and cross-sectional autoregressive distributed lags are used in the current model. Then, the multilateral resistance terms are corrected. Results reveal that infrastructure has a significant and positive impact on trade. More precisely, transport infrastructure, communication infrastructure, financial infrastructure, and border-transport efficiency are productive influencers for trade over a certain period. Notably, the simultaneous impacts of infrastructure and geographic factors can lead to the deterioration of trade volume. The policy implications and future research direction of this study suggest that economies should improve infrastructure and geographic factors through gross domestic product.

A similarity measure is being widely used as a tool to create the degree of similarity between two different objects or sets. Several similarity measures between two Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFSs) are suggested in literature. As far as our knowledge is concerned no one has considered similarity measure between two Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFSs) based on Jaccard index (JI) so far. Therefore, in this manuscript a novel similarity measure based on JI between two PFSs is suggested. The JI is statics used to compare similarity as well as variety of simple sets. The advantages of proposed similarity based on Jaccard index includes: (i) It can be utilized to compare any two sets and it can also be applied to text data, numerical data and even categorical data. (ii) It is robust to outliers, which means that it is not significantly affected by presence of rare or unusual items exist in the data. This makes it useful in variety of applications including clustering and anomaly detection (iii) It is simple and efficient in computation which make it right choice in many applications where fast processing time is important. Then we gave several numerical examples to show the reliability of suggested similarity measures. Our proposed similarity measure between PFSs based on JI give better properties with respect to numerical results. Based on the numerical analysis, our proposed method is reliable, reasonable and better than the existing ones. Furthermore, we utilized proposed similarity measure with Pythagorean Fuzzy Technique of Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (PF-TOPSIS) in handling complex daily life issues involving multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) processes. Furthermore, similarity measure between two PFSs is also very useful in clustering. Therefore, we also apply our proposed similarity measure in an application to clustering based on Pythagorean fuzzy data set. Final results revealed that our suggested methods are well suited and reasonable in multicriteria decision-making and clustering environment.

Background: Burnout syndrome (BOS) is a common occupational disease amongst medical physicians; especially anesthesiologists. BOS is known to result in increased expenditure of the healthcare system and decreased patient satisfaction. In order to substitute for good conduct by its medical staff, Tehran University of Medical University established its own guidelines on professionalism as a substitute for professional conduct amongst its personnel. Learning and practicing professionalism is not only a requirement to be competent as a specialist, but also it results in increasing healthcare quality and patient satisfaction. There is a lack of studies on the relationship between BOS and professionalism. Determination of the relationships between professionalism and BOS among TUMS anesthesiology residents. Methods: In this cross-sectional study all anesthesiology residents completed three forms (demographic checklist, Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), and professionalism self-conduct). The results were primarily analyzed using STATA 14.0 and relationships were established via linear and binary regression. Results: About 44 percent of residents met criteria for BOS. The risk of developing BOS was significantly higher for residents who adhered to the principles of respect and altruism and for residents training in one of our surveyed hospitals; whereas the risk of developing BOS would be reduced by increasing age and adherence to the principles of justice Burnout subscales scores concerning emotional exhaustion and personal accomplishment were significantly related with higher self-reported scores of altruism and honesty-integrity respectively. Conclusion: The chances of developing BOS could be enhanced by inadequate practice in the field of professional ethics. Therefor the importance of learning and competent practice of professionalism must be acknowledged. Age and professional climate were the most important demographic variables related to BOS in anesthesiology residents.

Objective: To compare the short term in-hospital outcomes in patients presenting with acute ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) and Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (NSTEMI). Study Design: Comparative Cross-sectional study. Place and Duration of Study: Adult cardiology department of tertiary care center, Rawalpindi Pakistan, from Aug 2022 to Feb 2023. Methodology: A sample of 323 patients of acute STEMI and NSTEMI were enrolled. Patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria were enrolled through non-probability consecutive sampling. Patients were divided into two groups. The data of short term in hospital outcomes was recorded. Data was entered and analyzed using SPSS version-26:00. Chi-square and t-test were used to find association and mean difference of study variables between study groups. Results: Out of total 317 patients, males were 262(82.6%) and females were 55(17.4%)) with an average age of 63.34±8.96 years in the study. 139(43.8%) patients had Diabetes Mellitus, 146(46.1%) were hypertensive and 73(23.0%) were smokers. 198(62.5%) patients had STEMI and 119(37.5%) had NSTEMI. AbstractThe COVID-19 pandemic has forced employees to telecommute. Telecommuting has resulted in a work overload in secret places. This has eroded the line between personal and professional life, increasing the risk of conflict. This article reviews the existing research on work-life balance and examines the impact of telecommuting on work-life balance. The study found that work-life interaction and workplace factors influence employee engagement and exhaustion. Work-related expectations, such as emotional and time demands, must be addressed to decrease work-family conflict and create a good work-life balance. This review adds to the body of knowledge by establishing the importance of work-life balance for telecommuting. This review produced two scholarly contributions to work-life balance. Beginning with an overview of existing research topics and organized work-life balance concepts, second, it identified crucial study areas to understand distant work-life balance better. Implications for practice and future research directions are discussed as well.

Owing to their unique characteristic features (e.g., nano-scaled dimensions, surface charge, surface chemistry, thermodynamics, morphology, etc.), diversity of functionalization, and great penetrability to body tissues, nanomaterials have been widely employed in various fields including medical and health sciences. The feasibility and significance of nanomaterials has been well-explored as drug delivery devices, diagnostic tools, vaccination, prognostic agents, and gene therapy; however, substantial evidence on safety of these nanomaterials is lacking. The aim of this study was critical evaluation of available literature on the safety concerns of various nanomaterials and conceptualization of vital factors which might help in mitigating the toxicity caused by these nanomaterials. It has been established that various factors such as particle size, dosage regimen, route of exposure, surface chemistry, degree of aggregation, transmembrane diffusivity, excretion pathway, and immunogenicity play key role in inducing the nanotoxicity. By controlling these factors, interaction of nanomaterials with biological tissues, their penetrability, diffusivity, absorption, distribution, recognition by the immune players, duration of deposition into various body tissues, and clearance from the body can be controlled to avert unintended nanotoxicity. Furthermore, it has been identified that surface functionalization of nanomaterials with diverse moieties such as sodium citrate, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and/or surfactants could significantly downregulate their nanotoxicity potential and improve their safety profile. Factually, nanotoxicity is a grave concern which should be consider while designing of any nanomaterials to circumvent their detrimental interactions with various biological tissues.

Abstract Intelligent robotics and expert system applications in dentistry suffer from identification and detection problems due to the non-uniform brightness and low contrast in the captured images. Moreover, during the diagnostic process, exposure of sensitive facial parts to ionizing radiations (e.g., X-Rays) has several disadvantages and provides a limited angle for the view of vision. Capturing high-quality medical images with advanced digital devices is challenging, and processing these images distorts the contrast and visual quality. It curtails the performance of potential intelligent and expert systems and disincentives the early diagnosis of oral and dental diseases. The traditional enhancement methods are designed for specific conditions, and network-based methods rely on large-scale datasets with limited adaptability towards varying conditions. This paper proposed a novel and adaptive dental image enhancement strategy based on a small dataset and proposed a paired branch Denticle-Edification network (Ded-Net). The input dental images are decomposed into reflection and illumination in a multilayer Denticle network (De-Net). The subsequent enhancement operations are performed to remove the hidden degradation of reflection and illumination. The adaptive illumination consistency is maintained through the Edification network (Ed-Net). The network is regularized following the decomposition congruity of the input data and provides user-specific freedom of adaptability towards desired contrast levels. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method improves visibility and contrast and preserves the edges and boundaries of the low-contrast input images. It proves that the proposed method is suitable for intelligent and expert system applications for future dental imaging.

Abstract Owing to its diverse heterogeneity, aggressive nature, enormous metastatic potential, and high remission rate, the breast cancer (BC) is among the most prevalent types of cancer associated with high mortality. Curcumin (Cur) is a potent phytoconstituent that has gained remarkable recognition due to exceptional biomedical viability against a wide range of ailments including the BC. Despite exhibiting a strong anticancer potential, the clinical translation of Cur is restricted due to intrinsic physicochemical properties such as low aqueous solubility, chemical instability, low bioavailability, and short plasma half-life. To overcome these shortcomings, nanotechnology-aided developments have been extensively deployed. The implication of nanotechnology has pointedly improved the physicochemical properties, pharmacokinetic profile, cell internalization, and anticancer efficacy of Cur; however, majority of Cur-nanomedicines are still facing grandeur challenges. The advent of various functionalization strategies such as PEGylation, surface decoration with different moieties, stimuli-responsiveness (i.e., pH, light, temperature, heat, etc.), tethering of specific targeting ligand(s) based on the biochemical targets (e.g., folic acid receptors, transferrin receptors, CD44, etc.), and multifunctionalization (multiple functionalities) has revolutionized the fate of Cur-nanomedicines. This study ponders the biomedical significance of various Cur-nanomedicines and adaptable functionalizations for amplifying the physicochemical properties, cytotoxicity via induction of apoptosis, cell internalization, bioavailability, passive and active targeting to the tumor microenvironment (TME), and anticancer efficacy of the Cur while reversing the multidrug resistance (MDR) and reoccurrence in BC. Nevertheless, the therapeutic outcomes of Cur-nanomedicines against the BC have been remarkably improved after adaptation of various functionalizations; however, this evolving strategy still demands extensive research for scalable clinical translation. The choice of similarity measure (SM) plays an important role in distinguishing between objects. Similarity measure of Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFSs) is very useful and effective in discriminating between different Pythagorean fuzzy sets. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest a new similarity measure for PFSs based on converting the PFSs into their lower, upper and middle fuzzy sets (FSs) to calculate their degree of similarity. We construct an axiomatic definition for a new SM of PFSs. Furthermore, we put forward a new way to express the similarity measure of PFSs to show its competency, reliability and applicability. For establishing reasonability and usefulness of the proposed methods, we present several practical examples related to pattern recognition and multicriteria decision making problems. Finally, we construct an algorithm for Portuguese of interactive and multiple attributes decision making (TODIM) method based on the proposed similarity measures, for handling complex multicriteria decision making problems related to day to day life. Our final results show that the suggested method is reasonable, reliable and useful in managing different complex decision making problems in the context of Pythagorean fuzzy sets as the domain.

The study aims to advance understanding of CSR principles and green marketing strategies and to provide practical guidance to companies wishing to increase their commitment to sustainability while maintaining a profitable position in the Pakistan market.

In this paper, an innovative approach is suggested for quantum teleportation of multi-qubit physical state into an error correctable multi-qubit logical state. For this purpose, an efficient quantum error correction scheme is applied to detect and correct one bit flip and/or phase flip error in the teleported logical state. In addition, the proposed mechanism is substantiated by teleporting an eight-qubit physical state via four-qubit cluster state which involves three-qubit logical states as a quantum channel. The proposed scheme may be physically realized in the future fault tolerant quantum technologies.

The P2Y receptors are responsible for the regulation of various physiological processes including neurotransmission and inflammatory responses. These receptors are also considered as novel potential therapeutic targets for prevention and treatment of thrombosis, neurological disorders, pain, cardiac diseases and cancer. Previously, number of P2Y receptor antagonists has been investigated but they are less potent and non-selective with poor solubility profile. Herein, we present the synthesis of new class of benzimidazole derived sulfonylureas (1a-y) as potent antagonists of P2Y receptors, with the specific aim to explore selective antagonists of P2Y1 receptors. The efficacy and selectivity of the synthesized derivatives 1) against four P2Y receptors i.e., t-P2Y1, h-P2Y2, h-P2Y4, and r-P2Y6Rs was carried out by calcium mobilization assay. The results revealed that except 1b, 1d, 1l, 1m, 1o, 1u, 1v, 1w, and 1y, rest of the synthesized derivatives exhibited moderate to excellent inhibitory potential against P2Y1 receptors. Among the potent antagonists, derivative 1h depicted the maximum inhibition of P2Y1 receptor in calcium signalling assay, with an IC50 value of 0.19 ± 0.04 µM. The potential of inhibition was validated by computational investigations where bonding and non-bonding interactions between ligand and targeted receptor further strengthen the study. The best identified derivative 1h revealed the same binding mechanism as that of already reported selective antagonist of P2Y1 receptor i.e (1-(2- (2-tert-butyl-phenoxy) pyridin-3-yl)-3–4-(trifluoromethoxy) phenylurea but the newly synthesized derivative exhibited better solubility profile. Hence, this derivative can be used as lead candidate for the synthesis of more potential antagonist with much better solubility profile and medicinal importance.

This study aims to evaluate the plant species potential to accumulate, concentrate and translocate the heavy metals around the coal mining contaminated site with heavy metals at Harnoi, Abbottabad. The phytosociological surveys involve the systematic study of plant communities within the particular area to show their composition, structure and distribution showed that the contaminated coal mining-associated area was poor in vegetation. Among these, 11 plant species with higher important values (IV) are collected with associated soil and analyzed for the total concentrations of Cadmium (Cd), Copper (Cu), Chromium (Cr), Lead (Pb) and Nickel (Ni) using Atomic Spectrophotometer. The phytoremediation indices (BAF, BCF, TF and TI) were used to evaluate the multi-metals hyperaccumulator and stabilizer plant species. Dodonaea viscosa was evaluated as multi-metals (Cd, Cu and Ni) stabilizer. While the Ajuga bracteosa and Sonchus espera , Sisybrium officinale and Platango ovata stabilize Cd and Cr respectively. The other plant species that can stabilize as single heavy metal are Ajuga bracteosa and Sonchus espera (Cd), Sisybrium officinale and Platango ovata (Cr) and Amaranthus spinosus (Ni) respectively. While the multi-metals accumulator plant species are Bidens pilosa (Cu, Pb and Ni), Chenopodium ambrosioides (Cd, Cu and Ni), Amaranthus spinosus (Cd, Cu and Cr), Ajuga bracteosa (Pb and Ni) and Rumex hastatus (Cd and Ni). However, the single heavy metal accumulator plant species are Sonchus espera (Pb), Conyzea Canadensis (Ni), Platango ovata and Malvastrum coromandelianum (Cu) respectively. These plants could find valuable applications in practical phytoremediation for the remediation near mining tailings at Abbottabad. Moreover, the use of local plants is a promising approach not only for in situ accumulation and stabilization of heavy metals but also for tolerance and environmental adaptations in the contaminated area.

The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of Muslim customers' purchases of halal cosmetic products in Pakistan. Multiple linear regressions were used in this study. The data was collected from 223 Muslims who were all over the age of 18. Product quality, religious belief, halal awareness, personal societal perception, and halal certification were five of the six hypotheses tested. Results were found to have a significant impact on customer intentions to buy halal cosmetic products in Pakistan. According to the findings, customers' intentions to purchase halal cosmetics are influenced by brand perception. According to the findings of this study, halal certification is the most important factor influencing customer intentions to buy halal cosmetics.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most prevalent type of cancer for incidence and second for mortality worldwide. Late diagnosis and inconvenient and expensive current diagnostic tools largely contribute to the progress of the disease. The use of chemotherapy in the management of CRC significantly reduces tumor growth, metastasis, and morbidity rates. However, poor solubility, low cellular uptake, nonspecific distribution, multiple drug resistance and unwanted adverse effects are still among the major drawbacks of chemotherapy that limit its clinical significance in the treatment of CRC. Owing to their remarkable advantages over conventional therapies, the use of nanotechnology-based delivery systems especially polymeric nanocarriers (PNCs) has revolutionized many fields including disease diagnosis and drug delivery. Aim of Review: In this review, we shed the light on the current status of using PNCs in the diagnosis and treatment of CRC with a special focus on targeting strategies, surface modifications and safety concerns for different types of PNCs in colonic cancer delivery. Key Scientific Concepts of Review: The review explores the current progress on the use of PNCs in the diagnosis and treatment of CRC with a special focus on the role of PNCs in improvement of cellular uptake, drug targeting and co-delivery of chemotherapeutic agents. Possible toxicity and biocompatibility issues related to the use of PNCs and imitations and future recommendation for the use of those smart carriers in the diagnosis and treatment of CRC are also discussed.

Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is primarily used to treat acute respiratory failure. However, it has broad applications to manage a range of other diseases successfully. The main advantage of NIV lies in its capability to provide the same physiological effects as invasive ventilation while avoiding the placement of an artificial airway and its associated life-threatening complications. The war on the COVID-19 pandemic is far from over. The present narrative review aimed at identifying various aspects of NIV usage, in COVID-19 and other patients, such as the onset time, mode, setting, positioning, sedation, and types of interface. A search for articles published from May 2020 to April 2021 was conducted using MEDLINE, PMC central, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases. Of the initially identified 5,450 articles, 73 studies and 24 guidelines on the use of NIV were included. The search was limited to studies involving human cases and English language articles. Despite several reported benefits of NIV, the evidence on the use of NIV in COVID-19 patients does not yet fully support its routine use.

Drought and heat stress are potential problems that can reduce wheat yield, particularly during the terminal growth stages in arid and semiarid regions of the world. The current study intended to examine the impact of individual and combined drought and heat stress on the biochemical contents (antioxidant enzymes, proline, soluble proteins, and soluble sugars), physiological parameters (chlorophyll content, cell membrane stability, photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, and transpiration), plant–water relations (relative water content, water potential, osmotic potential, and pressure potential), agronomic traits (flag leaf area, plant height, number of tillers per plant, spike length, grains per spike, and thousand-grain weight), and gene expression (TaHSF1a, TaWRKY-33, TaNAC2L, and TaGASR1) in four different thermostable and drought-tolerant wheat genotypes (i.e., Gold-16, HS-240, Suntop, and Hemai-13) collected from different countries. The tri-replicate experiment was conducted using two factorial arrangements in a randomized complete block design (RCBD). All measured traits, except total soluble sugars, proline, and cell membrane stability index, showed significant reduction under both combined and individual treatments. Furthermore, correlation analysis revealed a significant association between biochemical and physiological characteristics and crop agronomic productivity. Furthermore, principal component analysis (PCA) and heatmap analysis demonstrated significant levels of variation in traits according to the type of stress and nature of wheat genotype. The spectrographs and micrographs generated by scanning electron microscopy for the selected high- and low- tolerance samples revealed clear differences in mineral distribution and starch granulation. All studied genes showed comparatively high levels of relative expression under combined treatments of drought and heat stress in all wheat genotypes, but this expression was the highest in ‘Gold-16’ followed by ‘HS-240’, ‘Suntop’, and ‘Hemai-13’. Overall, this study concluded that plants are proactive entities and they respond to stresses at all levels; however, the tolerant plants tend to retain the integrity of their biochemical, physiological, and molecular equilibrium.

The usefulness of different topological indices is inevitable in various fields such as Chemistry, Electronics, Economics and Business studies, medical and social sciences. The “purpose of this paper is to study” Wiener index for the Intuitionistic fuzzy graphs (IFG) in some detail while keeping it in parallel with the connectivity index. Some of the other distance and degree based topological indices have been defined for an IFG. Moreover, Average Wiener index has also been defined for an IFG. At the end, an application of Wiener index and Average Wiener index has also been presented in water a pipeline network which is very integral in water supply management.

The productivity of human resources may reduce if someone chooses the wrong career. Therefore, we need an intelligent system that chooses your career based on a person's personality type. This study creates a personality profile of the person and suggests their best careers list according to their personality type after analysing the text written by the user such as a blog post, essay, or tweet. The main purpose of this project is to work on the text classification method, pre- processing of that dataset and convert it into main features and then train the model on a best-performed classification model. After applying various feature vector combinations and machine learning models that are detailed in this work, accuracies up to 93% were achieved.

Medicinal plants have significant contribution in pharmaceutical industries being producers of compounds utilized as precursors for drug development. A plant of Lamiaceae family; Pseudocaryopteris foetida had not been investigated for its biomedical potential. Current research was aimed to investigate phytochemical analysis, cytotoxic potential and antioxidant activity of crude methanolic extract and fractions of Pseudocaryopteris foetida (leaves). The preliminary phytochemical analysis of crude methanolic extracts and fractions of Pseudocaryopteris foetida revealed that plant is rich in phenolic and flavonoid classes of secondary metabolites while presence of tannin was observed only in crude methanolic extract. The cytotoxicity was determined using brine shrimp lethality test. Different concentrations (25, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 µg/mL) of crude methanolic extract and fractions exhibited dose dependent cytotoxicity. However, The LD50 for all the extracts was more than 200 µg/mL indicating weak cytotoxic potential of Pseudocaryopteris foetida. The antioxidant capabilities of crude methanolic extract and fraction of Pseudocaryopteris foetida were analyzed by in vitro bio assays including DPPH, ABTS, Reducing power and phosphomolybdate antioxidant assays using ascorbic acid as standard. The crude methanolic extract showed IC50 (256.38 ± 0.6 and 314.95 ± 1.1 µg/mL) for DPPH and ABTS respectively, while total antioxidant capacity was calculated as 55.79 ± 0.5 µg/mL for crude methanolic extract of Pseudocaryopteris foetida while ascorbic acid indicated total antioxidant capacity of 71.89 ± 2.3 µg/mL. Study concluded that leaves of Pseudocaryopteris foetida were the rich source of antioxidant phytochemicals. Based on preliminary investigations further research should be focused to isolate bioactive phytochemicals as leading source of clinical medicines in future.

Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is a major pulse crop worldwide, renowned for its nutritional richness and adaptability. Weeds are the main biotic factor deteriorating chickpea yield and nutritional quality, especially Asphodelus tenuifolius Cav. The present study concerns a two-year (2018–19 and 2019–20) field trial aiming at evaluating the effect of weed management on chickpea grain quality. Several weed management practices have been here implemented under a factorial randomized complete block design, including the application of four herbicides [bromoxynil (C7H3Br2NO) + MCPA (Methyl-chlorophenoxyacetic acid) (C9H9ClO3), fluroxypyr + MCPA, fenoxaprop-p-ethyl (C18H16ClNO5), pendimethalin (C13H19N3O4)], the extracts from two allelopathic weeds (Sorghum halepense and Cyperus rotundus), two mulches (wheat straw and eucalyptus leaves), a combination of A. tenuifolius extract and pendimethalin, and an untreated check (control). Chickpea grain quality was measured in terms of nitrogen, crude protein, crude fat, ash, and oil content. The herbicides pendimethalin (Stomp 330 EC (emulsifiable concentrate) in pre-emergence at a rate of 2.5 L ha−1) and fenoxaprop-p-ethyl (Puma Super 7.5 EW (emulsion in water) in post-emergence at a rate of 1.0 L ha−1), thanks to A. tenuifolius control, showed outstanding performance, providing the highest dietary quality of chickpea grain. The herbicides Stomp 330 EC, Buctril Super 40 EC, Starane-M 50 EC, and Puma Super 7.5 EW provided the highest levels of nitrogen. Outstanding increases in crude protein content were observed with all management strategies, particularly with Stomp 330 EC and Puma Super 7.5 EW (+18% on average). Ash content was highly elevated by Stomp 330 EC and Puma Super 7.5 EW, along with wheat straw mulching, reaching levels of 2.96% and 2.94%. Crude fat content experienced consistent elevations across all treatments, with the highest improvements achieved by Stomp 330 EC, Puma Super 7.5 EW, and wheat straw mulching applications. While 2018–19 displayed no significant oil content variations, 2019–20 revealed the highest oil content (5.97% and 5.96%) with herbicides Stomp 330 EC and Puma Super 7.5 EW, respectively, followed by eucalyptus leaves mulching (5.82%). The results here obtained are of key importance in the agricultural and food sector for the sustainable enhancement of chickpea grain’s nutritional quality without impacting the environment.

The selection of a suitable job applicant from the pool of thousands applications is often daunting job for an employer. The categorization of job applications submitted in form of Resumes against available vacancy(s) takes significant time and efforts of an employer. Thus, Resume Classification System (RCS) using the Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques could automate this tedious process. Moreover, the automation of this process can significantly expedite and transparent the applicants’ screening process with mere human involvement. This experimental study presents an automated NLP and ML-based RCS that classifies the Resumes according to job categories with performance guarantees. This study employs various ML algorithms and NLP techniques to measure the accuracy of RCS and proposes a solution with better accuracy and reliability in different settings. To demonstrate the significance of NLP and ML techniques for RCS, the extracted features were evaluated on nine ML classification models namely Support Vector Machine - SVM (Linear, SGD, SVC and NuSVC), Naïve Bayes (Bernoulli, Multinomial and Gaussian), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), and Logistic Regression (LR). The Term-Frequency-Inverse-Document-Frequency (TF-IDF) feature representation scheme was proved suitable for RCS. The developed models were evaluated using the Confusion Matrix, F-Score, Recall, Precision, and overall Accuracy. The experimental results indicate that using the One-Vs-Rest-Classification strategy for this multi-class Resume classification task, the SVM class of Machine Learning classifiers performed better on the study dataset of over nine hundred sixty plus parsed resumes with more than 96% accuracy. The promising results suggest that NLP and ML techniques employed in this study could be used for developing an efficient RCS.
