Zagrebačka županija se nalazi na srednjem dijelu područja Republike Hrvatske te okružuje s istoka, juga te zapada grad Zagreb koji je glavni grad. Do 2018. godine se bilježi porast broja dolazaka turista u Zagrebačku županiju, potom 2019. se ostvaruju manji pad dok je 2020. godina najgora od analiziranih godina, s obzirom na pandemiju virusa COVID-19. to se tiče noćenja rezultati su slični dolascima pa je tako do 2019. godine zabilježen porast broja noćenja turista dok taj broj 2020. godine drastično pada te je ostvareno manje od 1/3 prijašnjih godišnjih rezultata. U svrhu pisanja ovog diplomskog rada formirana su pitanja za intervjuu kojima se željelo skupiti odgovore grada, turističke zajednice, turističkih agencija i privatnih iznajmljivača o njihovom doživljaju i posljedicama pandemije COVID-19 na cjelokupno poslovanje. U provedenom istraživanju, u svrhu pisanja ovog diplomskog rada, na postavljena odgovorili su iz Turističke zajednice Zagrebačke županije, Turističke zajednice Samobor, Turističke zajednice Sveti Ivan Zelina. Osim toga u istraživanju je sudjelovala turistička agencija IDEA te privatni iznajmljivači- Hoteli Cottage House Žumberak, Hoteli Hotel Sport, Ivanić Grad, Hoteli Royal Airport, Velika Gorica, Kuća za odmor Bella, Bistra te kuća za odmor Bogdanović, Pisarovina. Pandemija je prouzrokovala brojne negativne ekonomske posljedice i negativne globalne promjene u turizmu, onemogućila putovanja i ostale turističke migracije u svijetu pa tako i u Hrvatskoj. Nužno je naglasiti razvoj eno-gastronomije koja se promovira kao jedan od motiva dolaska u destinaciju, stoga se Zagrebačku županiju vidi i dalje kao jednu od poželjnijih turističkih destinacija. Od velike je važnosti ujediniti turističke zajednice Zagrebačke županije u svrhu umrežavanja, intenzivne suradnje i zajedničkog djelovanja turističkih zajednica Zagrebačke županije i relevantnih dionika s ciljem intenzivne promocije regije ‘Zagrebački zeleni prsten’ i postojećih turističkih proizvoda i programa., Zagreb County is located in the central part of the Republic of Croatia and surrounds the city of Zagreb from the east, south and west. Until 2018, there is an increase in the number of tourist arrivals in Zagreb County, then in 2019 there is a slight decrease, while 2020 is the worst of the analyzed years, given the pandemic of the COVID-19 virus. in terms of overnight stays, the results are similar to arrivals, so by 2019 there was an increase in the number of tourist nights, while in 2020 the number dropped drastically and less than 1/3 of previous annual results were achieved. For the purpose of writing this thesis, interview questions were formed to gather answers from the city, the tourist board, travel agencies and private renters about their experience and the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the entire business. In the conducted research, for the purpose of writing this diploma thesis, the answers were answered by the Zagreb County Tourist Board, the Samobor Tourist Board, the Sveti Ivan Zelina Tourist Board. In addition, the travel agency IDEA and private landlords participated in the research - Hotels Cottage House Žumberak, Hotels Hotel Sport, Ivanić Grad, Hotels Royal Airport, Velika Gorica, Holiday House Bella, Bistra and Holiday House Bogdanović, Pisarovina. The pandemic caused numerous negative economic consequences and negative global changes in tourism, prevented travel and other tourist migrations in the world, including Croatia. It is necessary to emphasize the development of eno-gastronomy, which is promoted as one of the motives for coming to the destination, so Zagreb County is still seen as one of the most desirable tourist destinations. It is of great importance to unite the Zagreb County Tourist Boards for the purpose of networking, intensive cooperation and joint action of Zagreb County Tourist Boards and relevant stakeholders with the aim of intensive promotion of the ‘Zagreb Green Ring’ region and existing tourism products and programs.

Porezni popis iz 1598. je važan izvor za socio-ekonomsku povijest Slavonskog Kraljevstva. Prikupljajući podatke iz popisa i analizirajući ih, moguće je odrediti ekonomske i demografske promjene tijekom osmanskih ratova. Godine 1598., na području Slavonskog Kraljevstva, je živjelo oko 100.000 ljudi. Kraljevstvo je bilo podjeljeno na tri županije. Najnapučenija je bila Varaždinska, slijedila ju je Zagrebačka, a najmanje je stanovnika imala Križevačka županija. Osmanske provale i pljačke bili su glavni razlozi za manju napućenost Zagrebačke i Križevačke županije, s obzirom da su se obje nalazile na samoj granici s Osmanskim Carstvom. S druge strane, Varaždinska je županija bila donekle zaštićena te je bila gušće napućena i imala bolje ekonomske uvjete u ranom novom vijeku. Različite su društvene kategorije naseljavale Slavonsko Kraljevstvo, ali su koloni i inkvilini bili kvantitativno dominantni. Dok su inkvilini bili dominantna društvena kategorija Varaždinske županije, u ostale dvije županij tu su poziciju zauzimali koloni. Većina ostalih društvenih kategorija živjela je na području Varaždinske županije te je ista bila svojeversni ekonomski raj u Slavonskom Kraljevstvu. Pozicija žena ovisila je o njihovom društvenom statusu. Dok je skoro svaki četvrti vlastelin bila žena, u nižim kategorijama su žene činile manji udio kućedomaćina, odnosno svaki deseti kućedomaćin bila je žena. Većina su bile udovice, koje su iostale s maloljetnom djecom ili su njihova djeca već formirala svoje zasebne obitelji. Oko 75% naselja Slavonskog Kraljevstva postoje i naseljana su i danas. Najveći gubitak naselja primjetan je na području oko Sv. Ivana Zeline i porječju Kupe. Najviše su na to utjecale osmanske provale i pljačke. Gubitak naselja u Varaždinskoj županije posljedica je drugačijih zbivanja, a najvažniji razlog je preseljenje stanovništva s brda u nizine. Kvaliteta tla u nizinama je također bila ključna za povećanje stanovništva, pa je tako Varaždinska županije u isto vrijeme imala povećanje stanovništva, ali i gubitak starih naselja. Tax conscription of Slavonian Kingdom from 1598 is an important historical source for the social and economic history of the Slavonian Kingdom. By collecting data from the source and analyzing them, it is possible to determine the economic and demographic changes during the Ottoman wars. There were approximately 100.000 people living in 1598 on the territory of the Slavonian Kingdom. The kingdom itself was divided in three parts called counties (županija). The most populous was the Varaždin County, followed by the Zagreb County and the Križevci County. Ottoman attacks and looting were the key reason for the lesser density of Zagreb and Križevci County, since they were situated on the border with the Ottoman Empire. On the other hand, Varaždin County was somehow protected and had, therefore, higher density of population and better economic conditions during early modern period. There were numerous social categories living on the territory of the Slavonian Kingdom, with serfs (colonus) and inquilinus as dominant. While two of the counties had higher population of serfs, the category called inquilinus was dominant social category in the Varaždin County. Most of other categories also lived in the said county, which had become the economic safe haven within the Slavonian Kingdom. Position of women varied according to their social status. While approximately every fourth noble owner was a female, in lower social categories less women were counted as homeowners as every 10th homeowner was a female. Most of them were widows, who were either left with underage children, or were old and their children had already formed independent families. Approximately 75% of settlements in Slavonian Kingdom still exist and are inhabited. The most apparent loss of settlements was experienced around Sveti Ivan Zelina and river Kupa valley. It was mostly the consequence of Ottoman raids and attacks. The loss of settlements in Varaždin County had other reasons, and the most important was the resettling of population from hills to the valleys. The soil in valleys was of better quality which was essential for the growth of population. Thus, while experiencing population growth, Varaždin County had at the same time lost a number of its ancient settlements.

Pored izdvojenih, najznačajnijih turističkih atrakcija na području cijele Zagrebačke županije može se razlikovati još velik broj kulturnih, prirodnih i drugih atrakcija koje mogu privlačiti turističku potražnju i koje mogu služiti kao temelj za razvoj različitih turističkih proizvoda. Tokom godine se na području Zagrebačke županije održava velik broj različitih manifestacija te postoji dobro organiziran program potpore za manifestacije ove županije. Ciljevi turističkog razvoja Zagrebačke županije trebali bi u najvećoj mjeri adresirati problem uklanjanja slabih strana ponude i neutraliziranja opasnosti iz okruženja, ali i s kapitaliziranja jakih strana i prilika iz okruženja. Zagrebačka županija je usmjerena prema razvoju turizma i turističke ponude pa se tako u Zagrebačkoj županiji nastavlja višegodišnji trend rasta turističkih pokazatelja. U turističkom smislu izuzetno raznolika Zagrebačka županija s bogatim nasljeđem tradicije i kulture pogodna je za razvoj klasičnih turističkih proizvoda izleta i rekreacije u prirodi, ali i palete inovativnih proizvoda prilagođenih suvremenoj potražnji., In addition to the most prominent tourist attractions in the entire Zagreb County a large number of cultural, natural and other attractions that can attract tourist demand and which can serve as a basis for the development of various tourism products can be distinguished. According to the development of tourism and tourist offer, the trend of growth of tourist indicators continues in the County of Zagreb. e for the development of classic tourism products for excursions and outdoor recreation, as well as a range of innovative products tailored to contemporary demand.

Razvojem turizma kroz protekla desetljeća, razvili su se specifični oblici turizma među koje se ubraja i kulturni turizam. U današnje vrijeme pod pojam kulture se podrazumijeva ono što ljudi misle, a to su njihovi stavovi, vrijednosti, uvjerenja i ideje te što ljudi rade, njihov način života i djelovanja. Na kulturu se nadovezuje kulturna baština koja podrazumijeva nematerijalnu pojavnost određene kulture koja se održava kroz društvene običaje. Stoga, kulturni turizam se smatra turizmom specijalnih interesa te se definira kao posjete osoba izvan njihovog stalnog mjesta boravka koje su u potpunosti ili djelomično zainteresirane za povijest, umjetnost, naslijeđe ili stil života lokaliteta, regije, grupe ili institucije. Nakon teorijske analize pojmova turizma, kulture, kulturne baštine i kulturnog turizma, provedena je analiza kulturnog turizma Republike Hrvatske kroz ponudu i potražnju. Cilj ovog rada je bilo istraživanjem potvrditi ili opovrgnuti da razvoj kulturnog turizma pozitivno utječe na stvaranje imidža Zagrebačke županije kao turističke destinacije i da kulturni turizam pozitivno utječe na razvoj Zagrebačke županije. Istraživanje je provedeno među stanovnicima Zagrebačke županije., With the development of tourism over the past decades, specific forms of tourism have developed, including cultural tourism. Nowadays, the term culture means what people think, and these are their attitudes, values, beliefs and ideas and what people do, their way of life and actions. Culture is followed by cultural heritage, which implies the intangible appearance of a certain culture that is maintained through social customs. Therefore, cultural tourism is considered to be a tourism of special interest and is defined as visits by persons outside their place of residence who are wholly or partly interested in the history, art, heritage or lifestyle of a locality, region, group or institution. After a theoretical analysis of the concepts of tourism, culture, cultural heritage and cultural tourism, an analysis of the cultural tourism of the Republic of Croatia through supply and demand was conducted. The aim of this study was to confirm or refute that the development of cultural tourism has a positive impact on the image of Zagreb County as a tourist destination and that cultural tourism has a positive impact on the development of Zagreb County. The research was conducted on Zagreb County residents.

Ovaj diplomski rad se temelji na analizi nekoliko važnih faktora koji determiniraju razvoj poljoprivrede. Analiza prirodno-geografskih elemenata (reljefa, klime i voda) provedena je na razini županije, dok je demogeografska analiza stanovništva provedena i na razini jedinica lokalne samouprave. Analiza je obuhvatila 25 općina te 9 upravnih gradova koji se nalaze u Zagrebačkoj županiji. Zagrebačka županija smještena je u kontinentalnom dijelu Hrvatske, što je uvelike determiniralo njena prirodno-geografska obilježja. Položaj županije uz glavni grad Republike Hrvatske, Zagreb, utjecao je na demografske procese na njenom prostoru. U prvom dijelu rada iznose se rezultati analize prirodno-geografskih obilježja. U nastavku rada prikazani su odabrani pokazatelji demogeografske strukture stanovništva na razini Zagrebačke županije, ali i na razini jedinica lokalne samouprave. Neki od pokazatelja su prirodna promjena, indeks starosti, indeks obrazovanosti Rad je zaokružen prikazom strukture poljoprivrednog stanovništva prema odabranim sastavnicama i poljoprivrednog zemljišta (iskorištenost poljoprivrednog zemljišta, prosječni broj parcela po poljoprivrednom zemljištu itd.) te pretpostavkom budućeg razvoja poljoprivrede u Zagrebačkoj županiji. This thesis is based on the analysis of several important factors that determine the development of agriculture. The analysis of natural-geographical elements (relief, climate and water) was conducted at the county level, while the demographic analysis of the population was also conducted at the level of local self-government units. The analysis included 25 municipalities and 9 administrative cities located in Zagreb County. Zagreb County is located in the continental part of Croatia, which largely determined its natural and geographical features. The position of the county next to the capital of the Republic of Croatia, Zagreb, influenced the demographic processes in its area. The first part of the paper presents the results of the analysis of natural-geographical features. In the continuation of the paper, selected indicators of the demographic structure of the population at the level of Zagreb County, but also at the level of local self-government units are presented. Some of the indicators are natural change, age index, education index. The paper concludes with an overview of the structure of the agricultural population according to selected components and agricultural land (utilization of agricultural land, average number of plots per agricultural land, etc.) and the assumption of future agricultural development in Zagreb County.

Zagrebačka županije raspolaže s 152.489,20 ha poljoprivrednih površina od čega 16.741,90 ha otpada u drenirano poljoprivredno zemljište. Nakon utvrđivanja tipova tala na dreniranim površinama predložene su mjere za obnovu i/ili dogradnju drenažnih sustava, a potom je određena trenutna pogodnost dreniranog poljoprivrednog zemljišta za navodnjavanje prema FAO kriterijima. Također, određene su i klase potencijalne pogodnosti dreniranog poljoprivrednog zemljišta za navodnjavanje na području županije. Zagreb County has 152,489.20 ha of agricultural land, of which 16,741.90 ha falls into drained agricultural land. After determining the types of soil on the drained areas, measures for the restoration and / or upgrading of drainage systems were proposed, and then the current suitability of the drained agricultural land for irrigation according to FAO criteria was determined. Also, the classes of potential benefits of drained agricultural land for irrigation in the county were determined.

Ovaj se diplomski rad temelji na analizi demografskih procesa Zagrebačke županije od 1991. godine pa sve do danas, uzimajući u obzir i važne čimbenike prije ključne 1991. godine koji su determinirali demografska kretanja na istraživanom prostoru, kao i pretpostavke budućeg razvoja. Analiza je uključila 25 općina i 9 upravnih gradova u sklopu Zagrebačke županije koja je smještena uz sam rub Grada Zagreba, što uvelike utječe na sam demografski razvoj promatranog prostora. U prvom dijelu rada prikazane su opće karakteristike Zagrebačke županije, nakon čega je prikazano ukupno i prirodno kretanje stanovništva, intenzitet unutarnjih i vanjskih migracija, kao i migracije zaposlenog stanovništva prema Zagrebu. Prikazani su i tipovi općeg kretanja stanovništva, te je objašnjen razvoj biološkog, ali i gospodarskog sastava stanovništva Zagrebačke županije, kao i pretpostavke za budući razvoj kroz demografske resurse Županije. This master thesis analyzes the demographic processes of the Zagreb County from 1991 until today, considering important factors before the 1991, which have significantly determined the demographic development of researched area, but also assumptions for the future development. It is based on analysis of 25 municipalities and 9 Cities within the Zagreb County located along the border of the City of Zagreb that makes a significant impact on the demographic development of the observed area. First part of the masters thesis presents the general characteristics of the Zagreb County, which is followed by analysis of population change and natural population change (birth and death rates), intensity of in- and out- migration and migration of employed population toward the City of Zagreb. The population change types are also explained, as well as the biological composition of the population, but also the economic composition of the population of Zagreb County. At the very end of the master thesis the assumptions of future development through the demographic resources of Zagreb County are explained.

U članku je istražena biografija križevačkog ilirca i plemića Nikole Zdenčaja (1775–1854), pri čemu je naglasak stavljen na njegovo političko i kulturno djelovanje. Nikola Zdenčaj je tek rijetko bio u središtu znanstvenih i/ili stručnih istraživanja, pa će u ovom članku biti istražen i potvrđen njegov politički put u sklopu Ilirskog pokreta (Hrvatskog narodnog preporoda), a bit će pojašnjene i neke nejasnoće, kao i nedovoljno utvrđene činjenice. Cilj članka je, dakle, taj da osvijetli ulogu Nikole Zdenčaja tijekom Hrvatskog narodnog preporoda, ali i taj da osvijetli poziciju koju taj ilirac danas ima u historiografiji., This article explores the biography of an Illyrian and nobleman Nikola Zdenčaj (1775–1854), emphasizing his political and cultural activities. Nikola Zdenčaj was rarely at the centre of scientific and/or professional research, so this article will explore and confirm his political path within the Illyrian movement (Croatian National Revival), while also clarifying some ambiguities and insufficiently established facts. Therefore, this article aims to shed light on the role of Nikola Zdenčaj during the Croatian National Revival, as well as on the Illyrian’s position in today’s historiography.

Zagrebačka županija od 1980. godine doživjela je velike promjene u svojoj ekonomskoj, gospodarskoj i demografskoj strukturi. Industrijalizacijom i razvojem gospodarskih djelatnosti Zagreb privlači radnu snagu koja doseljava i u njegovu okolicu. Stalnim doseljavanjem iz drugih krajeva Hrvatske, broj stanovnika Zagrebačke županije iz popisa u popis sve više raste. Usporedno s time, stanovništvo se sve manje bavi poljoprivredom ili je u potpunosti napušta. Širenjem procesa suburbanizacije i sve jačom deagrarizacijom dolazi do socioekonomske, fizionomske i morfološke preobrazbe Zagrebačke županije. Tema diplomskog rada je analiza promjene načina korištenja zemljišta u Zagrebačkoj županiji primjenom GIS alata i podataka iz CORINE land cover programa. U radu su analizirani tipovi promjena načina korištenja zemljišta te faktori i procesi koji su doveli do tih promjena. Sve promjene koje su se dogodile u načinu korištenja zemljišta u skladu su s promjenama koje se događaju u okolici velikih gradova. Since 1980 the Zagreb County has experienced major changes in its economy and demography structure. Developed industry and economic activities attracted worforce from other regions, so people started to migrate in Zagreb's region and it caused constant population growth of the County. At the same time, population working in agriculture is declining. The processes of suburbanization and deagrarization caused socioeconomic, physiognomic and morphological transformation of Zagreb County. The theme of the thesis is the analysis of land use changes in the Zagreb County using GIS tools and data from the CORINE land cover program. The thesis analyzes the types of land use changes. Also, the thesis analyzes the factors and processes that have caused land use changes in the County. All land use changes determined in Zagreb County are also occurring in other regions of big cities.

This research was preliminary study of the presence and prevalence of Chlamydophila felis (Cp. felis) among domestic cats in the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County in Croatia. 48 pure and mixed breed cats were examined. 192 conjunctival and nasal swab samples were examined using a rapid immunoenzyme assay (EIA). 30 conjunctival scraping samples of 15 cats that were EIA positive were examined using DIF. Four of them were positive, while the results of two samples were inconclusive. These six samples (three nostril samples and three eye samples) were examined using a conventional polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and only two samples from the same cat were found to be positive for Cp. felis. The sequencing of the PCR product confirmed that the causative agent of the cat’s conjunctivitis was Cp. felis. By using direct immunofluorescence as well as a polymerase chain reaction procedure and sequencing, the results of the research established the existence of the bacteria Cp. felis in one out of 48 domestic cats., Cilj ovog preliminarnog istraživanja bio je ustanoviti učestalost pojave bakterije Chlamydophila felis (Cp. felis) u domaće mačke u Gradu Zagrebu i na području Zagrebačke županije. Istraživanjem je bilo obuhvaćeno 48 mačaka različitih pasmina. Brzim enzimskim imunološkim dijagnostičkim postupkom (EIA) pretraženo je 192 uzoraka obrisaka konjunktiva i nosnica te 12 uzoraka obriska sluznice rektuma. Trideset obrisaka konjuktiva s 15 mačaka, pozitivnih na EIA, pretraženo je postupkom izravne imunofluorescencije (DIF). Četiri su uzorka bila je pozitivna, a u dva je nalaz bio sumnjiv. Potom je tih šest uzoraka (tri uzoraka obriska nosne sluznice i tri obriska konjunktive) pretraženo postupkom lančane reakcije polimerazom (PCR). Dva su uzorka, podrijetlom s iste mačke, bila pozitivna. Rezultat sekvencioniranja produkta PCR dokazao je da je bolest u te domaće mačke bila uzrokovana upravo bakterijom Cp. felis. Korištenjem postupka izravne imunofluorescencije, lančane reacije polimerazom te sekvenciranjem produkta PCR dokazano je postojanje bakterije Cp. felis kao uzročnika mačje klamidioze u jedne od 48 mačaka.

Prekomorsko iseljavanje stanovništva iz Zagrebačke županije započelo je 1880-ih ponajprije kao posljedica teških gospodarskih prilika. Nemogućnost točnog statističkog praćenja iseljavanja odrazila se na korištenje često (međusobno) različitih statističkih izvora, a jedna od posljedica toga je prisutnost znatnih razlika u literaturi vezanih uz procjene broja iseljenika. Kako bi se razumio proces i opseg iseljavanja stanovništva Zagrebačke županije u radu su analizom obuhvaćeni objavljeni statistički izvori u Statističkim godišnjacima, Izvješćima i popisima stanovništva od 1880. do 1910., te neobjavljeni statistički izvori iz Hrvatskog državnog arhiva., Emigration from the Zagreb County began in the 1880s, primarily as a result of serious economic conditions. Croatian authorities slowly reacted in respect to this phenomenon, and one of the reactions was establishing the Statistical Office in Zagreb at the end of the 19th century with the task to statistically analyze and monitor the extent of that emigration. The impossibility to carry out accurate statistical analyses and monitoring of the impact of emigration from the Zagreb County in the said period resulted in significant differences as to estimated numbers of emigrants given in the related literature. In order to understand the process and the extent of emigration from the Zagreb County, this paper gives an analysis based on published statistical sources, Statistical Yearbooks, Reports of the Zagreb County published censuses dating from 1880 till 1910, and unpublished statistical sources from the Croatian State Archives. The analysis indicated that most of the population emigrated from the southern and south-eastern parts of the Zagreb County, such as the districts of Karlovac, Jastrebarsko, and Glina. At the same time, the lowest number of emigrants came from the northern districts, such as Sv. Ivan Zelina, Zagreb, Stubica, and Dugo Selo. Those were mostly younger men, mainly engaged in primary production, i.e. agriculture. Almost all overseas emigrants from the Zagreb County emigrated to the United States and Canada, and only a small number of them emigrated to the South American and overseas countries.

Purpose – of the paper is to assess the successfulness of marketing in tourism of Zagreb County and Krapina - Zagorje County from the perspective of continental tourism development and its marketing success. The research shows the amount of financial investment in marketing of both tourism destinations in order to attract domestic and foreign tourists. It finds out the awareness of domestic tourists about counties and its tourism attractions. Both counties have tourism potential and invest in marketing in coordination with Croatian Tourism Board. The main purpose is to find out the financial amounts invested in promotion, the results of promotional activities taken and to prove its successfulness as well as awareness amongst domestic tourists. Methodology – is quantitative and qualitative research, secondary research, method of analysis and synthesis as well as the observation from real life. As part of quantitative method there is a survey conducted amongst the population of Croatia by using random sampling. Qualitative method includes in- depth interviews with representative experts and managers responsible for marketing of tourism in Zagreb County and in Krapina-Zagorje County. Findings of the research show the successfulness of marketing efforts in Zagreb County and Krapina-Zagorje County. Zagreb County invests in marketing of tourism per one tourist arrival more than in Krapina-Zagorje County while Krapina-Zagorje County is more visited, spends less for marketing, although smaller than Zagreb County. Results show how many respondents never visited continental Croatia as tourists and are not aware of tourism potential in Krapina- Zagorje County. It also shows how many respondents never visited Zagreb County as tourists. Findings also prove that the county which is promoted as a brand has more successful in creating awareness and tourism visits. It includes recommendations for improvements in marketing potential and suggest specific activities and use of public and social media to promote both destinations more successfully amongst domestic and foreign tourists. Contribution – of the research is seen in its approach of analyzing investments in marketing and providing results in order to emphasize how less financial investment can achieve better success and how financial investment in marketing is not sufficient such as combination of financial and other marketing activities and promotional tools in order to attract more tourists and create awareness of tourism destination. Destinations which decide to create brands are more successful than those investing large amounts of money in marketing but not creating strong brand. The findings and aim of this research can contribute to further successful promotion of both counties as well as to create awareness of the current situation amongst public, domestic and foreign tourists as well as destination managers and other interested social groups.

Promatranje ptica jedan je od najbrže rastućih selektivnih oblika turizma. Zagrebačka županija ima veliku raznolikost ptičjih vrsta, koja pruža velike potencijale za ovaj oblik turizma, a prednost joj je i blizina glavnog grada Zagreba, potencijalnog emitivnog turističkog središta. U radu je iznesen teorijski koncept turizma promatranja ptica, pregled stanja u Hrvatskoj i svijetu te se navode potencijali za njegov razvoj u okviru Zagrebačke županije. Kako bi se dobila potpuna slika, u istraživanje su uključeni različiti akteri koji bi mogli ostvariti te potencijale. Tako se, putem anketa i intervjua, saznalo razmišljanje vlasnika terena bogatih ptičjim svijetom, ornitologa, promatrača ptica, Javne ustanove za zaštićena područja Zagrebačke županije, kao i turističkih zajednica, turističkih agencija i Javnih ustanova područja koja već imaju razvijen ovaj oblik turizma te su ispitani stavovi lokalnog stanovništva. Na kraju rada napravljena je SWOT analiza te su se prezentirali mogući turistički proizvodi bazirani na promatranju ptica. Birdwatching tourism is one of the fastest-growing forms of selective tourism. The Zagreb County has a great diversity of bird species, which offers a potential for this form of tourism, with the advantage of the proximity of the city of Zagreb, a potentially emissive tourist centre. This thesis provides a theoretic concept of the birdwatching related tourism, as well as an overview of its status in Croatia and the rest of the world, and presents the potential for its development in the Zagreb County. In order to obtain a full view, the research involved different participants whose role is relevant in realizing this potential. This includes surveys and interviews of the local population, owners of bird-populated areas, ornithologists, bird watchers, public institutions for management of protected areas of the Zagreb County, as well as the Tourist boards, agencies, and public institutions which have already developed this form of tourism. The thesis is concluded with a SWOT analysis and a demonstration of the potential tourist products based on the birdwatching activity.

Morfometrijska i petrološka analiza valutica savskih šljunaka primijenjena je na osam uzoraka iz županije Zagrebačke. Lokacije s kojih je uzet šljunak unaprijed su određene pomoću karte i popisa šljunčara županije Zagrebačke koji je predložilo Ministarstvo gospodarstva Republike Hrvatske. Krenuvši od najistočnije lokacije prema najzapadnijoj slijede: okolica Ivanje Reke – ŠLJUNČARA IGM TRSTENIK, okolica Novog Petruševca (iz korita i obale rijeke Save), šljunčara HIDREL Novo Čiče , jezero Orešje (obala), šljunčara HORVAT Savrčak, Medsave (trasa skele, iz obale i korita rijeke Save). Uzorci su laboratorijski obrađivani metodom sijanja s pomoću 3 sita (veličina 6mm,4mm i 2mm) nakon koje je slijedilo izdvajanje po 300 valutica najkrupnije frakcije iz svakog pojedinog uzorka. Zatim morfometrijska analiza, mjerenje triju osi valutica i litološka determinacija. Svi uzorci su statistički obrađeni u Microsoft Office Excel programu (oblik zrna, stupanj spljoštenosti zrna i pripadajući dijagrami). Zaključuje se da u obrađivanim uzorcima značajno prevladava vapnenac te valutice diskoidnog oblika s najvećim postotkom izvorišnih okoliša obala jezera., Morphometric and petrological analysis of the Sava gravel pebbles was applied on eight samples from the Zagreb County. Locations from which the gravel was taken were defined in advance by using a map and a list of gravels in Zagreb County which were proposed by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Croatia. Starting from the easternmost to the westernmost locations the following are: Ivanje Reka surroundings - GRAVEL IGM TRSTENIK, Novi Petruševac surroundings (from river beds and banks of the Sava River), gravel HIDREL Novo Čiče, Lake Orešje (shore), gravel HORVAT Savrčak, Medsave (route scaffolding, from the coast and the Sava riverbed). A laboratorical analysis of the samples was carried out using the sieving method with three sieves (size 6mm, 4mm and 2mm) followed by a separation of 300 pebbles of the broadest fraction from each sample. Then the morphometric analysis, measurements of the three axes of pebbles and lithology determination. All samples were statistically processed in Microsoft Office Excel (grain shape, grain degree of flatness and associated histograms). Concluded that the treated samples significantly contains limestone and pebbles of discoid shape with the higest percentage of the headwaters of the environment of the lake shore.

Grad Zagreb je uvijek sa prostorom današnje Zagrebačke županije činio jednu usko povezanu cjelinu. Za razvoj cijelog tog prostora je veoma važna dobra prometna povezanost jer prometnice omogućuju komunikaciju između svih subjekata u društvu i preduvjet su uspješnog i ravnomjernog budućeg razvoja. Današnja prometna mreža je kao i svugdje naslijeđe prošlosti, oblikovana tadašnjim potrebama i mogućnostima, a danas ju je potrebno što bolje prilagoditi suvremenim zahtjevima i preko prostornih planova uklopiti u prostor kako bi služila budućim generacijama na dobrobit svih subjekata u društvu i kako bi odgovorila na različite prometne zahtjeve. Promet treba omogućiti najbolje moguće povezivanje svih dijelova prostora i prilagoditi se prema različitim zahtjevima, odnosno što bolje pratiti socioekonomske, kulturne i gospodarske promjene u prostoru kako bi došlo do što usklađenijeg i ravnomjernijeg razvoja promatranog prostora. City of Zagreb has always formed one closely interrelated whole with present-day space of Zagreb County. For the development of this entire space is very important to have good traffic connectivity because traffic routes enable communication between all entities in society and are prerequisite for a successful and sustained future growth. Present-day traffic network is like everywhere legacy of the past, shaped with contemporary needs and abilities, and today it is necessary to better adapt her to modern demands a trough spatial plans fit her into a space to serve future generations for the benefit of all subjects in society and to respond to different traffic demands. Traffic should provide the best possible connecting of all parts of space and adapt to different demands, or in other words better keep up with socio-economic, cultural and economic changes in space in order to reach as balanced and sustained development of investigated area as possible.

Rural development, planning, the harmonization of legislation with the European Union and use of the funds from the European Union programs are current topics of discussions in Croatia. Therefore, it is necessary to define the indicators of competitiveness which demonstrate the development of the rural area. The main objectives of this paper were evaluation of competitiveness of the rural area in the territory of the Zagreb County, situated near the capital city of Croatia–the City of Zagreb, and determining the influence of budget allocation by public administration for the chosen economic indicators of the rural competitiveness of Zagreb and other Croatian counties. The competitiveness of the Zagreb County, when compared to the average of the Croatian rural area was explored with the index of rural competitiveness. The selection of indicators for measuring rural competitiveness is based on the concept of sustainable rural development. The index showed that the rural area of the Zagreb County is less competitive by 8.45% than the rural area of Croatia. This confirmed the first hypothesis of the paper which was unexpected due to the geographical position of the County (near the border with European Union and on the direct border with the capital city as the administrative, human resources, educational, market, and cultural center). This quantitative analysis offers the possibility for further research to estimate the rural competitiveness, which becomes the necessary groundwork in the decision making process in agricultural and rural policy. The second hypothesis saying that the local government significantly influences certain economic factors of rural competitiveness was proven by regression and correlation analysis. Conclusions about rural competitiveness and the public system’s efficiency are additionally substantiated with data obtained through structured interviews with experts. Experts notably accentuated the problem of authorization transfer in the context of agricultural policy onto lower management levels (insufficient decentralization), unnecessary bureaucracy and political privileges and nepotism, as well as unprofessional employees in public administration. The analysis of rural competitiveness and the public system’s efficiency presume an arranged and detailed data base and suggest the need to set clearer priorities which will be stimulated in order to reach competitiveness on micro and macro levels.

Agroturizam kao pojam je novijeg datuma u uporabi se udomaćio koncem dvadesetog stoljeća. On obuhvaća usluge ponude smještaja i prehrane, a uključuje seoski ambijent te ekonomske, kulturne i druge aktivnosti područja. Agroturistička ponuda Zagrebačke županije je još uvijek, s obzirom na mogućnosti, nedovoljno razvijena, ali trenutno zadovoljava potražnju stanovnika Grada Zagreba. Zagrebačka županija ima bogate kulturne, tradicijske i okolišne predispozicije za razvitak agroturizma, kao i dobru prometnu povezanost s urbanim središtima. U radu se istražuje agroturistička ponuda Zagrebačke županije i na osnovu toga glavna ograničenja te mogućnosti budućeg razvoja. Za potrebe istraživanja provedena je anketa na slučajno odabrana 102 obiteljska poljoprivredna gospodarstva kao potencijalnih davatelja agroturističkih usluga. Bez obzira na postojeće i očekivane probleme sa kojima se susreću obiteljska poljoprivredna gospodarstva istraživanje je pokazalo da postoji interes za bavljenje agroturizmom pri čemu je kao značajan problem istaknuto nedovoljno poznavanje prednosti agroturizma sa strane potražnje., Agritourism is a term of recent date. It is used form the end of twentieth century. It includes a supply of accommodation and meals services, also includes a rural environment and the economic, cultural and other area activity. Supply of agritourism services in the Zagreb County is still, considering its opportunities, insufficiently developed, but currently meets the demand of residents of Zagreb. Zagreb County has a rich cultural, traditional and environmental predisposition for development of agritourism, and also good transport links to urban centers. The paper explores the agritourism services supply of the Zagreb County, and on this basis the main constraints and opportunities for future development. There were 102 randomly selected family farms as a potential provider of agritourism services for the conducted study. Regardless of the existing and expected problems that the family farms are facing, research has shown that there is an interest to engage in agritourism. The problem is that demand site does not know the benefits of agritourism enough.

Na prostoru Republike Hrvatske živi 15 vrsta zmija od kojih su tri otrovnice – poskok (Vipera ammodytes), riđovka (Vipera berus) i planinski žutokrug (Vipera ursinii macrops). U cilju što boljeg poznavanja opasnosti od ugriza zmija, učestalosti i posljedica, načinjena je ova retrospektivna studija analize otpusnih pisama iz glavnih bolnica Zagrebačke županije, Grada Zagreba i Brodsko-posavske županije. Prikupljeno je 61 otpusno pismo iz razdoblja od 1998. do 2008. godine. Učestalost ugriza za prostor Zagrebačke županije i Grada Zagreba iznosi 4,8 ugriza godišnje (0,441 ugriza na 100 000 stanovnika), a za Brodsko-posavsku županiju 1,3 ugriza godišnje (0,735 ugriza na 100 000 stanovnika). Procjenom težine ugriza pomoću simptoma zaključeno je da prevladavaju srednje teški slučajevi sa malim brojem teških slučajeva. U istraživanom razdoblju nije zabilježen nijedan smrtni slučaj. There are 15 snake species living in the area of Republic of Croatia, three of them being venomous – horned viper (Vipera ammodytes), common European viper (Vipera berus) and meadow viper (Vipera ursinii macrops). The aim of this retrospective study of hospital release letters was gaining better knowledge of danger of snakebites, their prevalence and consequences. Release letter were obtained from central hospitals in Zagreb county, City of Zagreb county and Brodsko-posavska county. Altogether, there was 61 release letters for the period from 1998 to 2008. Snakebite prevalence for Zagreb and City of Zagreb counties is 4,8 envenomings yearly (0,441 envenomings on 100 000 people), and 1,3 envenomings yearly (0,735 envenomings on 100 000 people) for Brodsko-posavska county. After reviewing the severity of envenomings using noted symptoms it was concluded that most cases are moderate with very few severe cases. There were no fatalities in the reviewed period.

Objekt proučavanja rada je ruralni turizam Zagrebačke županije, odnosno „pitanje“ može li ruralni turizam biti čimbenik revitalizacije odabrane županije. Istraženo je njegovo stanje u prostoru, te su navedeni prirodni i društveni čimbenici koji pogoduju razvoju turizma u promatranom području. Kao mogućnost razvoja ruralnog turizma navedno je devet oblika, a posebno se ističu: turizam na seljačkim obiteljskim gospodarstvima, izletnički, vikendaški i vinski turizam. Rezultat istraživanja turizma na seljačkim obiteljskim gospodarstvima pokazuje da su seljačka gospodarstva uglavnom smještena u jastrebarskom i samoborskom području, da se nešto manje od 80% svih gospodarstava u Županiji bavi poljoprivredom kao djelatnošću, da još uvijek nedovoljan broj gospodarstava nudi dodatne usluge za posjetitelje, da je iskorištenost smještajnih kapaciteta niska, te da posjetitelji dolaze većinom iz Hrvatske, a kao glavni razlog dolaska na TSOG navode se gastronomija, upoznavanje prirode i odmor. The subject of this thesis is rural tourism in Zagreb County, i.e. could the rural tourism be the factor of revitalisation in this chosen County. The state of rural tourism in Zagreb County is explored, and natural and social features, which can be evaluated in development of tourism, are given. As development possibilities in rural tourism are listed nine different forms, but the most important are: rural tourism on family farms, excursion sites, second home tourism and wine tourism. Some results of research of tourism on rural family farms pointed out that rural family farms are mostly situated in wider Jastrebarsko and Samobor area and farm holders are mainly agriculturists. But, there is still lack of additional services for tourists and visitors, and utilization of accommodation capacity is low. Tourists and visitors come mostly from Croatia, and the main reasons are gastronomy, natural sites and leisure.

The increase in ragweed mediated health problems has led to the development of defense strategies in the countries with the most serious ragweed pollution, namely Hungary, Italy and France. The aim of this paper is to define the frequency of allergic disturbances brought by ragweed pollen in the period between 2002 and 2004, and to devise an action plan for its eradication in the area of Zagreb, as well as in Zagreb County. Thanks to the analysis of common methods of ragweed eradication, even by stating biological ragweed eradication, the best efficiency in ragweed eradication would be achieved through a method that combines several common methods, i.e., a mixed method. In its order on taking measures for obligatory eradication of ragweed, it has stated that the Ministry will ensure funds so that Plant Protection Department in Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Croatia, and Department of Herbology of the Faculty of Agriculture of Zagreb could observe the beginning and continuity of ragweed blossom, make an evaluation on the degree of weed overgrowth, establish how widespread it is in the Republic of Croatia, inform the public via the media on control measures and some other duties, but there is no financial help to those who are selected to eradicate ragweed.

With an almost monocentric development, the most powerful central functions in Croatia are concentrated in Zagreb. These functions have a powerful influence on the transformation of the area towards which they gravitate. This influence is greatest on the geographic area of the Greater Zagreb girdle area, i.e. Zagreb County. The processes of the transformation of the Greater Zagreb girdle relate above all to the urbanisation and suburbanisation of the area. These processes extend to rural areas in a very spatially differentiated way, depending primarily on the level of development and the spatial distribution of the transport network. Spatial differentiation and the level of urbanisation and suburbanisation in the Zagreb environs are illustrated through an analysis of the intensity and distribution of daily migration in Zagreb and through expressed changes in the spatial distribution of inhabitation. These processes were considered to be in parallel in the period from 1948 to 2001, the period of the most intensive change.

Hrvatsku možemo deklarirati kao turističku zemlju koju posjećuju mnogi turisti koji stalno traže nove i drugačije oblike odmora, a Hrvatska im zadnjih godina može ponuditi nešto takvo: agroturizam. Agroturizam je jedan od oblika ruralnog turizma (zeleni ili seoski turizam), koji podrazumijeva boravak turista u seoskoj sredini u kojoj se pružaju mogućnosti za aktivno sudjelovanje u životu i radu na seoskom imanju. Ciljevi ovog rada jesu ustanoviti koji su društveni i gospodarski preduvjeti odlučujući za razvitak agroturizma u Zagrebačkoj županiji, osobito u odnosu na Istarsku županiju, koja prednjači u razvoju agroturističkih aktivnosti. Zagrebačka županija ima vrlo dobar potencijal za razvoj seoskog turizma: osim poljoprivrednih mogućnosti, pogoduje joj geografski položaj, blizina Zagreba i dobra prometna povezanost. Obje županije – Zagrebačka i Istarska – imaju sebi svojstvene prirodne, društvene i kulturne predispozicije za razvoj seoskog turizma, a jedinstvena gastronomska ponuda omogućuje razvitak agroturističke djelatnosti., Croatia can be declared as a tourist country, visited by many tourists constantly searching for new and different forms of entertainment. Now Croatia can offer something new: agrotourism. Agrotourism is a form of rural tourism (green or village tourism), which means that tourists stay in a rural area where they can actively participate in living and working on a farm. The goals of this study were to determine the social and agricultural preconditions significant for developing agrotourism in Zagreb county, especially in comparison with Istrian county which has developed this activity rather well. Zagreb county has very good potential for rural tourism: together with agricultural potential, it is its geographical position and good road connections. Both regions – Zagreb and Istrian county – have specific natural, social cultural and gastronomic offer preconditions for developing rural tourism.
