Traffic counts are among the most frequently employed data to assess the traffic patterns and key performance indicators of next generation sustainable cities. Automatised counting is often based on conventional traffic monitoring systems such as inductive loop counters (ILCs). These are costly to install, maintain, and support. In this paper, we investigate the possibilities to complement and potentially replace the existing traffic monitoring infrastructure with crowdsourcing solutions. More precisely, we investigate the capabilities to predict the ILC-obtained data using Telraam counters, low-cost camera counters voluntarily employed by citizens and freely accessible by the general public. In this context, we apply different exploratory data analysis approaches and demonstrate a regression procedure with a selected set of regression models. The presented analysis is demonstrated on different urban and highway road segments in Slovenia. Our results show that the data obtained from low-cost and easily accessible counters can be used to replace the existing traffic monitoring infrastructure in different scenarios. These results confirm the prospective to directly apply the citizen engagement in the process of planning and maintaining sustainable future cities.

Družina je osnovna celica, kjer se otrok razvija in odrašča. Pri tem imata zelo pomembno vlogo oba starša. Tako kot se je družina skozi čas spreminjala, sta se spreminjali tudi vlogi očeta in mame. Oče je bil nekoč manj prisoten pri vzgoji, saj je bila njegova glavna naloga preživeti družino. Ženska pa je predstavljala gospodinjo, ki je v glavnem skrbela za vzgojo otrok in hišna opravila. V prvi polovici 20. stoletja pa se je vloga ženske začela močno spreminjati. Delež zaposlenih žensk se je neizmerno povišal, kar pa je vplivalo na samo materinstvo. Ne glede na družbene spremembe mati ostaja najpomembnejša oseba otrokovega življena. V teoretičnem delu sem opredelila družino, njene naloge in kako se je ta skozi čas spreminjala. V nadaljevanju sem predstavila različne vzgojne stile, vlogo mame in očeta, materinstvo ter materinstvo današnjega časa in prihodnosti. Dotaknila sem se tudi zaposlovanja žensk, ki je prineslo določene posledice pri sami vlogi ženske v družini. V raziskovalnem delu je predstavljena kvalitativna raziskava devetih polstrukturiranih intervjujev, ki sem jih izvedla med materami treh različnih generacij. Namen diplomskega dela je predstaviti vlogo mame v družini, ki se je skozi čas spreminjala. Rezultati raziskave so pokazali, da se je vloga ženske skozi čas v družini spreminjala, kar je vplivalo tudi na samo materinstvo. Poleg spremenjene vloge očeta, ki je vedno bolj vključen v vzgojo otrok, je vidna sprememba tudi pri načinu vzgajanja otrok. A family is a basic unit in which a child develops and grows up. The role of parents in child development is crucial. Through time, the concept of the family unit has been changing and consequently also the roles of mother and father. The role of the father in the past mostly presented a strong commitment to ensuring family survival and the father was involved in child-raising on an exceptional basis. On the other hand, the mother mostly contributed to the children raising and carried out housekeeping tasks. In the first half of the twentieth century, the role of women in society dramatically changed. Namely, the share of employed women significantly increased and this also strongly affected the role of the mother. Notwithstanding the above-mentioned social changes happened, the mother remains to be the most important person in a child’s life. In the theoretical section, I have defined a family, its functions and how the family was changing through time. Besides, I presented various raising models, the role of mother and father, motherhood of today and in the future. I have also touched on historical changes in the employment of women which caused certain consequences in respect of woman’s family role. As a part of my research work, I have presented a qualitative analysis based on nine half-structured interviews of mothers of different ages. Namely, my thesis aims to present the role of the mother, which was changing through time. Results of the research have shown that that the role of women has changed dramatically through history and this fact also impacted significantly the role of mother in the family including with the changes in child raising methods. Research has also shown the changes in the father’s role, especially in respect of increased involvement of the father in child-raising process.

Z glasbo se srečamo že v prenatalnem obdobju. Tako se mati poveže z otrokom že med nosečnostjo in mu podaja novo izkušnjo. Starši imajo največji vpliv na razvijanje pozitivnega odnosa do glasbe in glasbenega ustvarjanja. Pesem združuje vse okoli sebe. Tako otroke kot tistega, ki z njimi poje. Skozi glasbo lahko otrokom v življenje prinesemo veselje in radost, z njo ga sproščamo in bogatimo. Otrokom razvijamo glasbene zmožnosti, dispozicijo za glasbo in njegov posluh, vendar le, če veliko poje. V diplomskem delu je predstavljen pomen petja v vrtcu in vloga vzgojitelja pri sami dejavnosti iz že obstoječe strokovne literature. Diplomsko delo z naslovom Petje v vrtcu v teoretičnem delu zajema glasbeno vzgojo, petje v predšolskem obdobju, predstavitev pevskega organa in izbiro primerne pesmi za predšolske otroke. Empirični del temelji na ugotovitvi obsega in kakovosti načrtovanja, izvajanja in vrednotenja glasbene dejavnosti petja pesmi. The first contact with music happens in prenatal period. In this way, mothers make a connection with their child during pregnancy and give the unborn new experiences. Parents have the biggest influence on developing a positive attitude towards music and musical creation. Furthermore, singing helps them to connect with their child. With music is a child’s life full of happiness and joy, and children who listen to music tend to be more relaxed. If children sing a lot, they develop musical abilities, disposition and an ear for music. In the BA thesis, we explore the importance of singing in kindergarten and the role of a teacher in this activity. The thesis “Singing in kindergarten” consists of two parts – the theoretical and empirical part. The theory covers topics such as music education, singing in the preschool period, vocal organ and the selection of suitable songs for preschool children. In the empirical part, we write about the research on the quantity and quality of the planning, execution and evaluation of the musical activity.

V mlekarnah, na prašičjih farmah in v klavnicah nastajajo močno onesnažene odpadne vode. Te je treba pred izpustom v vodotoke ustrezno obdelati z različnimi postopki čiščenja v čistilnih napravah. V diplomski nalogi so prikazani opisi postopkov mehanskega, fizikalno-kemijskega in biološkega čiščenja odpadnih voda ter dejavnikov, ki vplivajo na potek reakcij v čistilnih napravah. Poseben poudarek je na anaerobnem čiščenju odpadnih voda. Prednosti pred aerobnimi procesi so manjša produkcija visoko stabiliziranega biološkega blata, manjša potreba po nutrientih, manjši potrebni volumni reaktorjev in produkcija metana, ki je potencialni vir energije. V diplomski nalogi so predstavljene čistilne naprave podjetij Pomurske mlekarne, d. d., Panvita MIR, d. d., in Panvita, Prašičereja Nemščak, d. o. o. Highly polluted wastewater is formed in dairies, pig farms and slaughterhouses. Before released into watercourses, wastewater should be properly processed with different treatment procedures in wastewater treatment plants. The thesis deals with the descriptions of mechanical, physical and chemical, and biological wastewater treatment procedures and the description of the factors which affect the reactions in wastewater treatment plants. I give special emphasis on anaerobic wastewater treatment. Its advantages over aerobic processes are smaller production of highly stabilized sludge, reduced need for nutrients, smaller necessary volumes of reactors, and production of methane, which is a potential source of energy. In this thesis I present water treatment plants of various companies Pomurske mlekarne d.d. (Prekmurske Dairies PLC), Panvita MIR d.d. (Panvita MIR PLC) and Panvita – prašičereja Nemščak d.o.o. (Panvita – pig farming Ltd).

Izola je kulturno bogato mesto s pestro zgodovino. Znano je kot ribiško mesto, nekdaj močno v ribji predelovalni industriji. Na obravnavani lokaciji je bila leta 1881 zgrajena tovarna konzerv. Po razpadu Jugoslavije je pomankanje surovin na tržišču in prepočasno uvajanje inovacij vodilo v propad industrije. Danes je lokacija zapuščena, o nekdanjem obstoju tovarne pa pričajo le še obstoječi vhodni objekti, zid in objekt kurilnice z dimnikom. Naloga se ukvarja z možno revitalizacijo degradiranega območja. V prvem delu naloga razišče stopnjo degradiranosti prostora in preverja potenciale lokacije. Cilj naloge je revitalizirati območje tovarne Argo, tako da se ponovno vzpostavi prostor za prenos znanja, prostor za inovacije in razvoj, ki bo dostopen vsem, tako stalnim prebivalcem, kot občasnim obiskovalcem, ki bo hkrati turistična zanimivost in podpora pri gospodarskem razvoju mesta. Predlog obravnava širšo lokacijo in ponudi možno revitalizacijo območja z idejno zasnovo, ki umesti v prostor mešani program - zelene površine, prostore kulture, zunanje javno kopališče in pa objekt obrtno kreativnega centra. Le-ta je zasnovan kot hibrid, ki se lahko spreminja tako programsko kot prostorsko glede na potrebe prostora in časa. Izola is a culturally rich town. With its charm, it attracts people from all over the world and offers them a place to create. Once known as a fishing town, with strongly developed fish processing industry. In 1881, a cannery was built on the location we are dealing with. After the breakup of Yugoslavia, the lack of materials on the market and the slow introduction of innovations led to the collapse of the industry. Today, the location is abandoned, and the only evidence of the former existence of the factory are the existing entrance buildings, the wall next to the main street and the building of the boiler room with a chimney. The task deals with the possible revitalization of the degraded area. In the first part, the assignment investigates the degree of degradation of the space and checks the potential of the location. The aim of the task is to revitalize the area of the Argo factory, by re-establishing a place for knowledge transfer, a place for innovation and development, which will be accessible to everyone, both permanent residents and occasional visitors, which will be a tourist attraction and a support for the economic development of the city. The proposal touches on the wider location and offers a possible revitalization of the area with a conceptual design that places a mixed program in the space - green areas, cultural spaces, an outdoor public bath and the spaces of a craft and creative center. The new facility of the craft and creative center is designed as a hybrid that can change both spatially or/and with content changes - according to the needs of space and time.

Building Relational Spaces is an inquiry into the capacity of architecture to construct open, community-supportive, and responsive spaces that challenge the linearity of building and planning processes, - insisting on giving space and relevance to the vulnerable and un-represented in urban development. This artistic and practice-based research is a reflection on architecture in relation to the social and temporal communities, unfolding around it and weaving together with it. The research is structured as a dynamic process - based on reflections on selected projects from the architectural-artistic practice of Gitte Juul - where one project develops and leads into the next in this analysis. The research aims to contribute with knowledge about the role and significance of architecture in society through an interdisciplinary study of different forms of becoming. It designates the approach Situated Planning to challenge the power relations and the principle that architects - through representations - are shaping our surroundings before acting in them. To understand and develop this specific approach - and to demonstrate its relevance for the thinking and making of architecture - the research uses examples from practice, merged with artistic and theoretical reflection as its main research material and focus, based on the model 'Practice Driven Research. It points out topics and stimulates interests for further investigations and learning, aiming at bridging academic research, teaching, and architectural/artistic practice. It intends to show how architecture and planning can direct the attention towards the perspectives and values of the livelihoods that people create and change over time, and thereby possibly create an opportunity for architects and planners to see new strategies for dealing with what cannot be planned for, but only searched for. Doktorska disertacija z naslovom Gradnja relacijskih prostorov (Building Relational Spaces) raziskuje zmožnost arhitekture, da ustvarja prostore, ki so odprti, odzivni in podpirajo skupnost, da postavlja pod vprašaj linearnost procesov gradnje in načrtovanja, pri tem pa odločno udejanja stališče, da je treba zagotoviti prostor in veljavo ranljivim skupinam, ki sicer v procesih urbanega razvoja niso zastopane. Umetniška raziskava, ki izhaja iz prakse, obravnava arhitekturo v odnosu do družbenih skupnosti v času, se okrog nje razpira in se z njo prepleta. Raziskava je strukturirana kot dinamičen proces - osnovan na razmišljanjih o izbranih projektih iz arhitekturno-umetniške prakse Gitte Juul -, v katerem se analiza vsakega projekt razvije in vodi v analizo naslednjega. Cilj raziskave je nadgradnja védenja o vlogi in pomenu arhitekture v družbi, in sicer skozi interdisciplinarno proučevanje različnih oblik postajanja. V njej je osnovan pristop situiranega načrtovanja (situated planning), ki naj služi kot orodje za zoperstavitev odnosom moči in principu, po katerem arhitekti - skozi reprezentacije - oblikujejo naše okolje, ne da bi prej v njem delovali. Za razumevanje in razvoj tega specifičnega pristopa - in za ponazoritev njegove relevance pri razmišljanju in ustvarjanju v arhitekturi - raziskava kot gradivo za proučevanje in kot svoj fokus uporabi primere iz prakse, združene z umet- niško in teoretsko refleksijo, vse pa temelji na modelu raziskovanja iz prakse. Delo nakazuje teme in spodbuja zanimanje za nadaljnje proučevanje in učenje ter povezuje področja akademskega raziskovanja, poučevanja in arhitekturne/ umetniške prakse. Njegov namen je pokazati, kako lahko arhitektura in načrtovanje usmerjata pozornost k perspektivam in vrednostim konceptov bivanja ki jih ljudje ustvarjajo in spreminjajo skozi čas, in tako morda arhitektom in načrtovalcem ponuditi priložnost. da najdejo nove strategije za spoprijemanjem s tem, česar ne moremo načrtovati, pač pa lahko le iščemo.

Poem-drawing is a process of perceiving, reflecting on, and re-creating spatial experience through simultaneously applied modalities of literary and visual expression. It is an instrument for in-depth reading and establishing ties with the place of research, through emotive immersion: an artistic device that transforms the understanding of the built surrounding, enriching it with a fresh perspective and a sensitivity enhanced by the inclusion of an architect’s emotional and spiritual intelligence as core instruments in the spatial evaluation processes. Poem-drawing is the “water” through which the personal responsibility to integrate what one is seeing with what one is being and doing is processed and absorbed inside the spatial interpretation itself, like a personalized language, constantly growing and changing. This dissertation aims to provide insight into the varieties of such person-specific language through 1) the works of architects that are/were operating with writing-drawing experiments 2) the author’s own design-driven artifacts, processes, and collaborations through poem-drawing and 3) the author’s pedagogical encounters through poem-drawing. The processes of critical thinking-through-making that unfold along the poem-drawing create the individuation of the language as a recognizable “voice.” The dissertation’s structure flows around the question of whether/when/how the presence of the personality (hypostasis) in that voice might creatively communicate with the multiplicity of other voices through the following cycles of sharing: self-cognition (sharing with the different personas inside oneself) self-extension (sharing with another poem-drawer through individually created artifacts) and self-abandonment (sharing with co-poem- drawers through collaboratively created artifacts). Ustvarjanje risbe-pesmi je proces zaznavanja, premišljevanja in poustvarjanja izkušnje prostora ob sočasni uporabi literarnega in vizualnega izraza. Je instrument za poglobljeno branje in vzpostavljanje povezav z obravnavanim prostorom, ki poteka preko čustvene potopitve: umetniškega sredstva, ki transformira razumevanje grajenega okolja ter ga obogati z novo perspektivo in občutljivostjo, k čemur pripomore vključitev arhitektove čustvene in duhovne inteligence kot osrednjih instrumentov v procesih prostorskega načrtovanja. Proces ustvarjanja risbe-pesmi je »voda«, skozi katero prečistimo osebno odgovornost, da to, kar vidimo, integriramo s tem, kar smo in kako delujemo, ter jo absorbiramo v samo prostorsko interpretacijo, kot personaliziran jezik, ki nenehno raste in se spreminja. Pričujoče doktorsko delo poskuša ponuditi vpogled v raznolikost tovrstnega personaliziranega jezika skozi opazovanje 1) del arhitektov, ki eksperimentirajo ali so eksperimentirali z modalnostma risanja in pisanja 2) avtoričinih oblikovalsko usmerjenih del, procesov in sodelovanj, ki so vključevala ustvarjanje risbe-pesmi in 3) avtoričinih izmenjav s pomočjo risbe-pesmi v pedagoškem kontekstu. Učinek procesov kritičnega mišljenja-skozi-delovanje, ki se odvijajo ob ustvarjanju risbe-pesmi, je individuacija jezika kot prepoznavnega »glasu«. Struktura doktorskega dela se vije okrog vprašanja, ali/kdaj/kako lahko prisotnost osebnosti (hypostasis) v tem glasu ostane v ustvarjalnem razmerju z mnoštvom drugih glasov skozi naslednje cikle izmenjave: samozavedanje (izmenjave z različnimi personami znotraj sebe) samoekstenzija (izmenjave z nekom, ki prav tako prakticira risbo-pesem, a med sodelovanjem vsak ustvari svojo risbo-pesem) in samoopustitev (izmenjave skozi skupaj ustvarjene artifakte).
