Objective To investigate the influencing factors for tendency towards depression in college students having music listening habits with music APP, and develop a prediction model and further optimize it. Methods A total of 1 157 college students were subjected with convenient sampling and surveyed with questionaires between April and May 2023. Univariate analysis and logistic regression analysis were employed to identify the influencing factors. Then a prediction model was constructed based on these factors. SMOTEENN over-sampling algorithm was utilized to enhance the dataset and construct the prediction model. Results Logistic regression analysis revealed that female (OR=1.730, 95%CI: 1.257~2.396), senior grade (OR=2.649, 95%CI: 1.198~7.506), postgraduate grade (OR=2.041, 95%CI: 1.231~ 3.885), major in Science(OR=1.573, 95%CI: 1.052~2.350), listening for a duration of 0.5~2 h (OR=1.661, 95%CI: 1.011~2.695), music style of melancholy (OR=2.668, 95%CI: 1.701~4.226) and of nostalgia (OR=1.751, 95%CI: 1.086~2.837), and frequency of comments on 0~5% of songs (OR=2.938, 95%CI: 1.018~8.417) were independent risk factors for depressive tendency. Time since listening to music for 1~3 years (OR=0.547, 95%CI: 0.347~0.872), listening to music from 14:00 to 18:00 (OR= 0.375, 95%CI: 0.167~0.845) and 18:00 to 21:00 (OR=0.313, 95%CI: 0.148~0.671), and preference for Chinese style songs (OR=0.711, 95%CI: 0.541~0.941) were independent protective factors. The logistic early warning model based on SMOTEENN algorithm demonstrated optimal predictive performance with an AUC value of 0.923. Conclusion Our constructed logistic regression model has identified 9 independent influencing factors associated with depression tendency among college students.The early warning model based on SMOTEENN algorithm can predict the depression tendency more accurately for college students.

Extrathyroidal extension was related with worse survival for patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma. For its preoperative evaluation, we measured and compared the predicting value of sonographic method and ultrasonic radiomics method in nodules of papillary thyroid carcinoma.

Objective To investigate the consistency between mismatch repair proyeins expressions detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and microsatellite instability(MSI) identified by next-generation sequencing (NGS), and evaluate the correlation of these results with the clinical characteristics of Chinese colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods Using IHC and NGS to identify mismatch repair (MMR) and MSI status in CRC, and assessing the consistency between these different detection methods. Results The concordance rate of MSI status detected by IHC and NGS was 98.36%, indicating good agreement (Kappa=0.856). Certain pathogenic or likely pathogenic germline variants were present in the pMMR/MSI-H subtype. The co-deficiency of MLH1 and PMS2 was most common in the dMMR/MSS subtype. In view of the problem of circulating cooling system blow-down water treatment in a power plant，a scheme to reduce the salt content and sulfate concentration in the circulating cooling system blow-down water was proposed by using nano-filtration technology to meet the local environmental protection standards and realize the up-to-standard discharge. Moreover， a technical and economic comparison with the circulating water bypass desalination treatment scheme using reverse osmosis technology were made. The impact of the two schemes on the zero discharge of desulfurization waste water from the power plant were fully considered in the comparison and selection of the schemes. The result showed that the scheme of standard discharge after nano-filtration treatment had more advantages.

Abstract Purpose Hamate fractures are rare fractures of the wrist and there is still no consensus on the optimal treatment for these fractures, especially hook of hamate fractures. Herein, the authors present a case study of a series of patients who were treated with closed reduction and minimally invasive percutaneous fixation under robot navigation. Methods This retrospective study reviewed 14 patients who had nondisplaced or minimally displaced hamate fractures on computerized tomography images and were treated using the treatment in our centre from November 1, 2019, to October 31, 2022. At the final follow-up, the flexion-extension and radial-ulnar range of motion of the wrist were measured, and the grip strength and pinch strength were measured. The pain of the wrist was assessed using the visual analogue scale (VAS). The Mayo wrist score reflected the recovery of the wrist. Results The mean total operative duration was 40.1 min. All the fractures showed union at a mean of 3.0 months. At a mean follow-up of 23.3 months (range 6–36 months), the mean VAS score was 0.7, the average Mayo wrist score was 95, and the mean pinch strength and grip strength were 11.3 and 38.7 kg, respectively. The flexion-extension arc was 138.3°, the mean radial and ulnar deviation arc was 63.8°, and the mean pronation-supination arc was 172.3°. And the time of return to the original occupation was mean 4 months (3~6 months). There were no complications, such as infection or nerve paralysis. Conclusions This study suggests that nondisplaced or minimally displaced hamate hook fractures can be successfully treated by closed reduction and internal fixation with a headless compression screw with the assistance of robot navigation, and the small fragment of fracture can be accurately fixed with minimal iatrogenic injury.

ObjectiveTo investigate the patterns of changes in routine blood parameters， thyroid hormone levels， and their correlations with thyroid peroxidase antibodies （TPOAb） among women at different stages of pregnancy， so as to provide a theoretical basis for maternal and child health care and diagnosis and treatment.MethodsA total of 732 pregnant women at different stages of pregnancy who underwent health examinations at the First Maternity and Infant Hospital affiliated to Tongji University from May 2020 to August 2022 were selected as the observation group. The group comprised 245 women in the first trimester （≤12 weeks）， 247 women in the second trimester （between13 and 27 weeks） and 240 women in the third trimester （≥28 weeks）. Additionally， 240 non-pregnant， healthy women of child-bearing age who conducted their health checkups in the same hospital were selected as the control group. All the research subjects were required to provide peripheral venous blood samples to measure hemoglobin （Hb）， standard deviation of red blood cell distribution width （RDW-SD）， coefficient of variation of red blood cell distribution width （RDW-CV）， platelet （Plt） count， platelet distribution width （PDW）， as well as thyroid stimulating hormone （TSH）， total thyroxine （TT4）， total triiodothyronine （TT3）， free thyroxine （FT4）， free triiodothyronine （FT3）， and TPOAb. Objective To investigate the role of microfilament depolymerization in osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) promoted by low intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS). Methods Mouse BMSCs were randomly divided into 4 groups: blank control group, LIPUS group, LIPUS+DMSO group and LIPUS+cytochalasin D (CytoD) group. Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity of each group was detected by ALP staining. The expression and cellular localization of runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) were observed by immunofluorescence staining. Western blotting was performed to determine the protein changes of osteogenic differentiation-related genes, type I collagen (collagen 1), osteopontin (OPN) and runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), as well as the contents of filamentous actin (F-actin) and globular actin (G-actin) in the cells. The changes of cell morphology and microfilament cytoskeleton structure were observed with confocal laser scanning microscopy. Results As compared with the blank control group, LIPUS irradiation significantly enhanced the activity of ALP and upregulated the protein expression of osteogenic related genes Collagen1 (P < 0.01), OPN (P < 0.05) and RUNX2 (P < 0.01), with about a 1.5-fold increase in RUNX2 level (P < 0.01). Immunofluorescence staining showed that RUNX2 expression was obviously increased in the nucleus after LIPUS irradiation, and the cells shrank slightly with punctate distribution of G-actin in the cytoplasm. Western blotting revealed that the ratio of F-actin/G-actin was remarkably lower in the LIPUS group than the control group (P < 0.05). In addition, in comparison with the LIPUS+DMSO group, the LIPUS+CytoD group had greatly promoted the depolymerization of intracellular microfilaments, reduced ratio of F-actin/G-actin (P < 0.05), enhanced activity of ALP (P < 0.05), upregulated expression of RUNX2 in the nucleus (P < 0.05), and improved expression levels of the osteogenic related genes (P < 0.05). Conclusion LIPUS promotes the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs, which may be related to LIPUS facilitating the depolymerization of microfilaments.

Objective To observe the clinical significance of miR-135b-5p in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tissues and to conduct a bioinformatics analysis of its predicted target genes. Methods The expression levels of miR-135b-5p in OSCC tissues and adjacent normal tissues were compared using data from TCGA and GEO databases, and the correlations of miR-135b-5p expression level with clinicopathologic characteristics were analyzed. Fresh tissues were collected in the clinic, and the expression of miR-135b-5p was verified by quantitative real-time PCR. The target genes with enriched pathways were analyzed by using bioinformatics methods. A protein-protein interaction network was constructed to screen hub genes. Results The expression levels of miR-135b-5p were significantly upregulated in OSCC tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues (P < 0.001) and had a good diagnostic capability (AUC=0.960, P < 0.001). The expression level of miR-135b-5p was positively correlated with histopathological grading (P=0.011). Enrichment analyses revealed that the target genes of miR-135b-5p were significantly associated with tumor-related signaling pathways, such as the calcium signaling pathway, the cGMP-PKG signaling pathway and the cAMP signaling pathway. Ten core target genes were obtained by screening: DLG2, ANK3, ERBB4, SCN2B, NBEA, GABRB2, ATP2B2, SNTA1, CACNA1D, and SPTBN4. Conclusion miR-135b-5p may act as an oncogene miRNA in OSCC and has the potential value of acting as a diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target for OSCC.

Glow discharge ionization source can be used to analyze solid sample, liquid sample and gas sample. At present, glow discharge optical emission spectrometer (GD-OES) and glow discharge mass spectrometer (GD-MS) are mainly used to the elemental analysis of inorganic solid samples and quantitative depth profile analysis, including direct current (DC) power supply and radio frequency (RF) power supply. In this paper, the ionization of liquid sample and gas sample by low frequency radio frequency glow discharge (Lf-RFGD) was researched, and the glow discharge structure constructed was connected to timeof flight mass spectrometer(TOF MS). The influences of the vacuum degree of ionization chamber, the size of sample inlet capillary, the auxiliary gas pressure, the discharge radio frequency and the voltage difference between electrode plates on the ionization efficiency were studied. The optimal analysis conditions are the vacuum degree of ionization chamber is about 30 Pa, the length of sample inlet capillary is 150 mm and the inner diameter is 0.25 mm, the auxiliary gas pressure is about1.0 MPa, the low discharge frequency is 2 MHz, the voltage difference between electrode plates is about 100 V. Under these conditions, the discharge power is about 20 W,the detection limit of liquid sample is 0.1 pg and volatile sample is 20 mg/m3, and the detection resolution (full width at half maximum, FWHM) is about 3 000. Combined with samples testing, the Lf-RFGD TOF MS was preliminarily applied to the drug solution and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). However, the sensitivity of this instrument for detecting non volatile liquid sample was not good compared with the conventional detection instrument. The reason is that high proton affinity and low ionization potential are needed to obtain good detection sensitivity in the positive ion mode of mass spectrometer, and non volatile liquid sample without pretreatment is not easy to meet the condition of high proton affinity under low power glow discharge condition. Successfully, a lowcost, portable approach based on the application of atmospheric sampling Lf-RFGD TOF MS has been developed for near real time measurement of trace VOCs. In this context, the glow discharge excitation source offers attractive alternative for development of low cost VOCs and elemental analysis instrument. Lf-RFGD as an excitation source has unique advantages with respect to development of hand held instrument such as low cost, low power consumption, and analytical versatility.

In order to effectively prevent and control the coal mine spontaneous combustion fire hazard, the research on the technology of cryogenic inert gas slurry was carried out aiming at the shortcomings of the existing inert gas fire-fighting technology, such as poor cooling effect and complicated conveying process. The experimental system for the preparation of cryogenic inert gas slurry and the cooling of heated loose coal was independently designed, and the temperature changes at different measuring points and the concentrations of CO and O2 in the experimental chamber were obtained under different injection flow rates. Results show that LCO2 (liquid CO2) is mixed with LN2(liquid nitrogen) in the pipeline transmission process, and injected into the experimental chamber in the form of solid, liquid and gas three-phase. The phase change occurs rapidly, the ordered structure is damaged, and a large amount of heat is absorbed. The temperature of air and coal in the box drops rapidly, and the fire prevention performance is better when large flow rate is injected. By comparing the fire-extinguishing effect of injecting liquid nitrogen and liquid carbon dioxide separately, it is concluded that the anti-fire-extinguishing technology of inert gas slurry has the advantages of both liquid nitrogen and liquid carbon dioxide, and the cooling and oxygen reduction effect is significant, and the anti-fire-extinguishing effect is better than that of liquid nitrogen and liquid carbon dioxide.

Magnetic anomaly is an important geophysical feature of coal field fires. In order to study the magnetic change law of high-temperature heated rocks and provide effective guidance for the application of magnetic method in the delineation of fire zones, the susceptibility measurement system was used to determine the magnetic susceptibility of Nalinmiao 3-1 coal roof sandstone. The effects of temperature, particle size, and magnetic field strength on the magnetic susceptibility of the samples were studied. The results show that the magnetic susceptibility of the burnt rock in the whole range of 25 ℃ to 600 ℃ increases with the increase of temperature, and decreases with the increase of the external magnetic induction intensity. When the heated temperature is less than 400 °C, the smaller the particle size of the sample, the greater the magnetic susceptibility; the effect of high temperature baking on the composition and structure of the rock is analyzed by X-ray diffraction experiments, indicating that during the high temperature baking of the rock, FeCO3 is oxidized into Fe3O4, which is the main reason why burnt rock is more magnetic than normal rock.

By comparing the change law of magnetic susceptibility of Ordos coal rock at normal temperature and during the temperature increase: as the temperature increases, the magnetic susceptibility also increases, and the composition of coal rock before and after heating is analyzed by X-ray diffractometer. It is found that the main reason for this change is that the ferromagnetic mineral composition of coal rock is changing during the heating process. This is used as the basis for the magnetic anomaly changes in the coalfield fire area. According to the theory of the gravitational potential field and magnetic potential field of the classic point, the coal bed fire area is used as a typical physical model to determine, and the Poisson formula method is used to determine the gravitational potential and magnetic potential. The second-order derivative of the cuboid gravitational potential is derived from the Poisson relationship, and the forward relationship of the magnetic anomaly of the coal field fire zone is obtained by integration. The magnetic anomaly characteristics of the coalfield fire zone model are calculated and simulated using Matlab. The results show that: as the depth increases, the extreme value of the magnetic field strength exhibited by the target body continues to decrease; the mutation rate of the intensity decreases continuously as it approaches the range of the anomaly; as the burial depth of the coalfield fire increases, the extent of magnetic anomalies has also continuously expanded to surrounding areas.

Objective To summarize the clinical features of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)⁃dependent Cushing's syndrome (CS) with multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN). Methods Based on the pituitary tumor database of Peking Union Medical College Hospital of China Pituitary Disease Register Network (CPDRN), 18 patients with ACTH ⁃ dependent CS complicated with MEN from January 1984 to September 2020 were collected. The clinical manifestations, involved other endocrine glands, laboratorial and imageological examinations were analyzed. Results Among 18 patients, 13 cases were Cushing's disease and 5 cases were ectopic ACTH syndrome (EAS); 15 cases were MEN1 type, 2 cases were MEN2 type and one case was MEN4 type. The clinical manifestations were subclinical CS in 6 cases and overt CS in 12 cases. All cases had osteopenia or osteoporosis. Urolithiasis accounted for 11/18 cases. Regarding the involved endocrine glands, pituitary ACTH adenoma accounted for 13/18 cases, prolactinoma accounted for 4/18 cases, hyperparathyroidism accounted for 15/18 cases, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors accounted for 13/18 cases and adrenal adenomas and hyperplasia accounted for 10/18 cases. Laboratorial examinations showed the average morning serum cortisol was (652.90 ± 254.90) nmol/L, the morning ACTH was (13.38 ± 8.73) pmol/L and the 24 h urinary free cortisol was 446.35 (233.08, 531.10) µg. Serum prolactin was elevated in 2 cases, parathyroid hormone was elevated in 13 cases and serum calcium was elevated in 11 cases. In imageological examinations, there were pituitary microadenoma in 12 cases, pituitary macroadenoma in 3 cases, adrenal adenoma in 8 cases, thickened adrenal in 4 cases, adrenal pheochromocytoma in 2 cases, and paraganglioma in one case. Genetic test showed 3 cases had MEN1 gene mutation including c.1183C ＞ T, c.1579C ＞ T and c.1174G ＞ T. Conclusions ACTH⁃dependent CS with MEN is a rare disease with complex manifestations. The most common symptom is osteopenia/osteoporosis. The most common cause of CS is pituitary microadenoma. MEN1 is the most common MEN type, and primary hyperparathyroidism is the most common type of affected endocrine glands, followed by pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. doi：10.3969/j.issn.1672⁃6731.2021.03.008

Objective To retrospectively analyze the clinical characteristics of patients with Cushing's syndrome (CS) complicated with perioperative pulmonary embolism (PE). Methods Depending on Chinese Pituitary Disease Registry Network (CPDRN) and Pituitary Tumor Database in Peking Union Medical College Hospital, 20 patients with CS complicated perioperative PE were collected from January 1, 2013 to September 30, 2020, and the clinical manifestations and laboratory examination data of the patients were investigated. The clinical characteristics were compared between ectopic adrenocorticotropic hormone syndrome (EAS) and CS with PE during the perioperative period. In addition, clinical characteristics were also studied in these patients before and after the operation. Results According to etiology, they were divided into CS (7 cases), EAS (9 cases) and adrenal adenoma (4 cases). The course of CS was longer than EAS (t = ⁃ 2.938, P = 0.011). According to the occurrence time of PE, the patients were divided into preoperative PE (13 cases) and postoperative PE (7 cases). The patients with postoperative PE had a lower body mass index (t = 2.427, P = 0.026) and a higher fibrinogen (t = ⁃ 2.162, P = 0.047). The patients with PE before surgery included 5 cases of CS, 5 cases of EAS, and 3 cases of adrenal adenomas, while those who with PE after surgery included 2 cases of CS, 4 cases of EAS, and one case of adrenal adenoma. Among the 7 patients with PE after surgery, 5 cases did not get remission. Compared with preoperative examination, the erythrocyte count (t = ⁃ 2.032, P = 0.042) and hemoglobin (t = 9.807, P = 0.001) were decreased after operation, the prothrombin time (t = ⁃ 2.847, P = 0.047) and international normalized ratio (t = ⁃ 3.059, P = 0.038) were increased after operation. Conclusions Longer course of disease and no remission hypercortisolemia after surgery may be the risk factors for perioperative PE in CS patients. Patients with elevated fibrinogen before surgery and reduced red blood cell count and hemoglobin after surgery should be alert to the risk of PE. doi：10.3969/j.issn.1672⁃6731.2021.03.009

Epoxy resin is widely used in metal surface protection, because of corrosion resistance and adhesion. However, it’s water solubility, oxygen, and water impermeability are not enough. In this paper, linoleic acid (LOFA) and epoxy resin (E20) were used to synthesize epoxy ester (EL) and grafted with phosphonate esterified acrylic resin (AR-P) to prepare acrylic grafted epoxy ester (EL@AR-P). After modification, water solubility and film-forming property were improved, and the oxygen transmission rate (OTR) and water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) decreased. At the addition of PM-2 at 2%, the OTR, WVTR, and water-uptake rate decreased by 12.9%, 25.0%, and 12.1%, respectively. Subsequently, the modified material was subjected to electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The low-frequency impedance of EL@AR-P2 is three times higher than EL@AR-P0. After 16 days of immersion, the low-frequency impedance of EL@AR-P2 is 20 times higher than EL@AR-P. Energy dispersive spectrometer and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results showed that the P elements were concentrated on the substrate surface and found the presence of P–O–Fe bonds, demonstrating that the phosphonate groups were migrated to the substrate surface to form a chelate layer with the substrate and enhancing the coating adhesion and corrosion resistance. This paper modifies the molecular structure of epoxy resin, which is expected to be an excellent material for anti-corrosion coatings.

Urinary incontinence is the most common adverse effects after radical prostatectomy, and it significantly impacts patients' quality of life after surgery. With the discovery of the fine anatomical structure of the prostate and the popularization of the concept of neurovascular bundle-sparing during surgery, the incidence of urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy has been significantly reduced. Depending on the degree of urinary incontinence, the current treatment strategies include conservative treatment, behavioral therapy, pharmacotherapy, urethral bulking agents injection, male sling and artificial urethral sphincter. This article reviews the current status of treatment of urinary incontinence after radical prostatectomy, summarizes the scope of application, advantages and disadvantages of different treatment options and prospects for new treatment options in the future.

Most previous works concentrated on burning characteristics of pool fire using common fuels such as heptane, propane, biodiesel, and diesel, whereas burning characteristics for transformer oil are barely involved, although transformer oil is arguable of more practical importance in power system. This study performed a series of pool fire experiments using transformer oil to study the burning characteristics in open and confined spaces. Three fuel thicknesses and five initial temperatures are changed in open space. The essential parameters of mass loss rate, flame height, and fire plume temperature are obtained and analyzed. Moreover, three oil pool diameters are varied in a chamber. The main conclusions are summarized as follows: the variations of mass loss rate, flame height, and fire plume temperature not only obviously increase as the fuel thickness increases from 0.5 cm to 1.0 cm, but also insignificantly increase as the fuel thickness changes from 1.0 cm to 2.0 cm. The mass loss rate is less sensitive to the initial temperature of transformer oil, but the flame height and fire plume temperature significantly rise with the initial temperature. Moreover, the modified models to predict the flame height and fire plume temperature for 25°C initial temperature conditions are proposed, but the fitting coefficients are obviously different from that for common liquid fuels. The flame height in confined space is higher and will rapidly increase to the maximum, then decreases, and tends to be stable, which is obviously different from the oil pool fire burning in open space. In addition, the phenomenon of burning blast and the ignition of the adjacent oil pool will be observed with a high-temperature ignition source and a certain high temperature in a chamber under 30 cm oil pool diameter, which will not be recorded in 15 cm and 20 cm.

[Purpose/Significance] This paper's objective is to understand hot spots and trends of Chinese researchers' studies on research policies. [Methods/Process] A scientometric method was used to analyze the literature of scientific research policy, We revealled the research hot spots and trends of Chinese research policy studies by using word frequency statistics and keywords cluster analysis.[Results/Conclusions] The results show seven hot spots: preferential policies for scientific research taxation, incentive policy for scientific research, research results transformation policy, research funding management policy, research data management policy, research reform policy and research talent policy aspect. Four topics will draw more Chinese researchers' attention: Chinese research data privacy protection policy, evaluation of policies on transforming scientific achivements, policies on scientific research innovation in colleges and universities, and the policy for the integrity of scientific research.

Objective To retrospectively compare the efficacy between definitive external-beam radiotherapy (ExRT) and radical prostatectomy(RP) on patients with localized high-risk prostate cancer (PCa). Methods We retrospectively studied 150 patients with high-risk PCa(T2b-T4N0M0) who underwent definitive ExRT or RP. The inclusion criteria for high-risk PCa were PSA≥20 ng/ml or above cT3 or GS≥8. The primary end point was biochemical failure free survival(BFFS), and the secondary end point was distant metastasis free survival(DMFS), cancer-specific survival(CSS) and overall survival(OS). Results A total of 88 patients underwent definitive ExRT and androgen deprivation therapy(ADT), and the remaining 62 patients underwent RP and pelvic lymphadenectomy(PLND). The median age and follow-up time were statistically significant between ExRT and RP groups(P < 0.05). The biochemical failure(BF) rate in ExRT group was significantly lower than that in RP group(P < 0.001), while BFFS was significantly increased(P < 0.001). The DMFS, CSS and OS were not significantly different between the two groups. Conclusion BF rate after definitive ExRT in patients with localized high-risk PCa are significantly lower than those undergoing RP, while BFFS is significantly increased.

Prostate cancer ranks first among adult males in the United States, and second in cancer-related mortality. Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is the most commonly used treatment for prostate cancer and is usually a lifelong treatment with the patient. Androgen and ADT have a profound impact on the immune system, and this finding is particularly important in the ear of current immunotherapy. Studies have shown that ADT may promote or inhibit immunotherapy. This article reviews the mechanism of action of different types of ADT drugs, discusses their effects on prostate cancer cells and immune system, and the prospect of combination of ADT and immunotherapy, to provide new thought and vision on the treatment of prostate cancer.

The human cognitive performance under hot and humid exposure is a critical issue for people working under hot and humid environments, for the considerations of both their health and safety. In order to find an indicator of the cognitive performance, the electrocardiogram (ECG) data were recorded continuously for 2.5 hours with portable Holter, when participants were exposed to 4 hot-humid environmental conditions and conducting different cognitive tests. The ECG data then were analysed to obtain the HRV indices that were used to establish a relationship with the cognitive test results. Temporal index pNN50 of HRV time domain indices was selected as a biomarker of the cognitive performance in this study. Results showed that the pNN50 responded significantly to the air temperature, while the influences of the cognitive tasks and the exposure time were found to be less significant. Meanwhile, the mean accuracy of the cognitive tasks was found to be positively related to the changes of mean pNN50, but a negatively related relationship between the mean reaction time and the mean pNN50 was observed. Furthermore, a positive relationship between the relative cognitive performance and the pNN50 was obtained, which meant that higher pNN50 responded to the higher cognitive performance. The potential reason could be ascribed to the changes in temperature-related allocation of the mental resources. And the low cognitive performance could be attributed to the rise of the mental fatigue due to the high sympathetic activities that corresponded to the low pNN50. The results revealed that the pNN50 could act as a biomarker of the cognitive performance under hot-humid exposure. The findings gave some implications to the real-time evaluation of the working performance and health of the people working under hot-humid environments.

The data presented in this article are related to the research article entitled “Increased serum TREM-1 level is associated with in-stent restenosis, and activation of TREM-1 promotes inflammation, proliferation and migration in vascular smooth muscle cells” (Wang et al., 2017) [1], which demonstrated that TREM-1 is expressed on vascular smooth cells (VSMCs) and promotes inflammation, proliferation and migration in cultured VSMCs. In this dataset, the expression of TREM-1 in leukocytes and endothelial cells of carotid artery after ligation was evaluated. The effect of TREM-1 on stenosis was analyzed in cultured human saphenous veins (HSVs) that spontaneously undergo remodeling which involves VSMC proliferation and migration.

Background: Chronic inflammatory disorders and dyslipidemia in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are essential contributors to the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Monocyte to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio (MHR) is a novel and simple measure associated positively with the body inflammatory and oxidative stress status. However, little is known regarding the role of MHR in evaluating carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), a surrogate predictor of subsequent vascular events, especially in diabetic patients.Methods: A total of 494 patients with T2DM and 1,848 non-diabetic subjects were consecutively enrolled in study 1. Correlation between MHR and CIMT was compared between diabetic and non-diabetic subjects. In study 2, a total of 110 T2DM patients from study 1 with normal basal CIMT and a follow-up ultrasonography at 12 months were enrolled. The predictive role of MHR on CIMT progression in diabetic patients was analyzed.Results: In study 1, MHR was higher in patients with T2DM than non-diabetic subjects (p < 0.001). After adjustment for confounding risk factors, MHR remained correlated significantly with CIMT in diabetic (r = 0.172, p = 0.001) but not non-diabetic (r = 0.006, p = 0.813) subjects. Logistic regression analyses demonstrated that MHR is superior to traditional lipid parameters in association with elevated CIMT in diabetic patients. In study 2, MHR at baseline was positively correlated with change in CIMT (r = 0.313, p = 0.001). Basal MHR was independently associated with change in CIMT [β = 0.059, (95% CI: 0.012–0.105), p = 0.014] in multivariate linear regression analysis.Conclusions: Our study suggests that MHR is a convenient and effective measure in prediction of the presence and progression of subclinical carotid atherosclerosis in patients with T2DM.
