The aim of this research was to compile a self-management assessment scale for patients with aortic dissection (AD). The questionnaire is useful in making the patient aware of the need for post-operative care in order to contribute to improving the outcome and quality of life.

Objective To investigate the influencing factors of postoperative meningioma recurrence. Methods A total of 176 patients with meningioma treated in Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University from May 2010 to January 2011 were included. The general information, imaging findings, extent of tumor resection and postoperative pathological results were analyzed. Kaplan⁃Meier survival curve comparison and Log⁃rank test were used to compare the related influencing factors of meningioma recurrence. Multifactor Cox's proportional hazards regression model was used for survival analysis. Results The median progression free survival (PFS) of patients with preoperative Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS)＜70 was lower than that with KPS≥70 [(8.04±1.98) years vs. (8.08±1.18) years; χ2=5.370, P=0.020]. The median PFS of patients with peritumoral edema grade 2-3 was lower than that with peritumoral edema grade 0-1 [(8.05±1.79) years vs. (8.06±1.09) years; χ2=9.805, P=0.002]. The median PFS of patients with dural mater invasion was lower than that without dural mater invasion [(7.97±1.70) years vs. (8.06±1.09) years; χ2=12.357, P=0.000]. The median PFS of patients with WHO grade 2-3 was lower than that with WHO grade 1 [(5.14±2.07) years vs. (8.12±0.87) years; χ2=113.774, P=0.000]. Multivariate Cox's proportional hazards regression model showed that WHO grade 2-3 could increase the risk of postoperative meningioma recurrence (RR=15.693, 95%CI: 5.905-41.707; P=0.000). Conclusions The preoperative KPS score, peritumoral edema, dura mater invasion and WHO grade may affect the recurrence of meningioma, and WHO grade 2-3 can increase the risk of meningioma recurrence.

To study the function of peanut nutrient oil supplemented with DHA algae oil and AA oil, SD rats were gavaged with peanut oil supplemented with different dose of DHA algae oil and AA oil, respectively the effects on monoamine oxidase activity in cerebral cortex and liver cell were examined after 8 weeks of continuous feeding.The results showed that the control group fed with peanut nutrient oil had significant difference compared with the normal peanut blending oil group (P＜0.01).Peanut nutrient oil containing DHA algae oil and AA oil can significantly reduce the activity of monoamine oxidase in the cerebral cortex of SD rats, and effectively improve the symptoms of liver edema and cell inflammation in middle-aged SD rats, and slow down the rate of cell death.It can be speculated that the intake of appropriate amounts of DHA and AA can potentially reduce the risk of liver cirrhosis and fibrosis in the elderly people, and achieve the role of protecting the liver.

Linear barcode technology has been widely used in our common life, such as in logistics, retailed products and many other applications. Many researches and smart applications focus on how to decode the barcode so that it is difficult to locate precisely when the background becomes very complex. Moreover, many smart apps need human interaction to make sure the detected region is in a correct position of the screen. This paper presents an effective approach to locate the barcodes in real-time without manual disturbing. Basic morphological operations and Parallel Line Segment Detector (P-LSD) are applied to achieve the legal block of barcodes. Our method has been evaluated by a standard database and the experimental results show that our approach is more robuster than other earlier methods.

A new compound, named coniferin B (1), and fourteen known compounds were purified and identified from the leaves and branches of Wikstroemia chamaedaphne Meisn. Their chemical structures were elucidated through analyzing spectroscopic and HRESIMS data. Compounds 2, 3, 5, 7–9, 11, and 13 were isolated from this plant for the first time. All compounds were assayed for cytotoxicity and activation of latent HIV activity on NH2 cells. The results showed that all compounds did not produce cytotoxicity at 10.0 μM and compounds 1, 9–11 showed weak activating activity with activation folds of 4.88, 7.14, 5.3, and 6.97, respectively. The systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI), served as a novel inflammatory biomarker, is the synthesis of neutrophils, monocytes and lymphocytes. We hypothesized that SIRI has predictive value for contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) and long-term mortality in patients undergoing elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We retrospectively observed 5685 patients undergoing elective PCI from January 2012 to December 2018. Venous blood samples were collected to obtain the experimental data on the day of admission or the morning of the next day. SIRI = neutrophil count × monocyte count/lymphocyte count. CA-AKI was defined as an increase of 50% or 0.3 mg/dl in SCr from baseline within 48 h after contrast exposure. The incidence of CA-AKI was 6.1% (n = 352). The best cutoff value of SIRI for predicting CA-AKI was 1.39, with a sensitivity of 52.3% and a specificity of 67.3%. [AUC: 0.620, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.590–0.651, p < 0.001]. After adjusting for potential confounders, multivariate analysis showed that the high SIRI group (SIRI > 1.39) was a strong independent predictor of CA-AKI in patients undergoing elective PCI compared with the low SIRI group (SIRI ≤ 1.39) (odds ratio = 1.642, 95% CI: 1.274–2.116, p < 0.001). Additionally, COX regression analysis showed that SIRI > 1.39 was significantly associated with long-term mortality at a median follow-up of 2.8 years. [Hazard ratio (HR)=1.448, 95%CI: 1.188–1.765; p < 0.001]. Besides, Kaplan–Meier survival curve also indicated that the cumulative rate of mortality was considerably higher in the high SIRI group. Abstract\nLay SummaryThe present study reveals the subjective experiences of suicidal ideation among Chinese national team athletes. The two objectives were to situate the experiences of athletes’ suicidal ideation and to identify the common features of athletes’ suicidal ideation and their coping strategies in the Chinese sport system. Following a critical realist framework, 10 national team athletes were purposively recruited to share their experiences of suicidal ideation as they progressed in their national teams through in-depth semi-structured interviews. A reflexive thematic analysis followed by composite vignettes were undertaken to provide a rich description of suicidal ideation in relation to the athletes’ progressive careers. Three composite vignettes were generated: (a) suicidal ideation resulting from early overtraining, (b) difficulty in adjusting to a highly competitive environment post-transition, and (c) competition failures among established athletes. The manifestations, durations, reactions, and coping strategies of suicidal ideations varied as the athletes progressed in their careers. Age, athletic performance, social support, medal-orientation, and collectivism contributed to suicidal ideation.Athletes’ suicidal ideations varied along their career development, wherein psychosocial factors compounding with national culture shaped the experiences.
