We present numerical results for three-dimensional (3D) solitons with symmetries of the semi-vortex (SV) and mixed-mode (MM) types, which can be created in spinor Bose-Einstein condensates of Rydberg atoms under the action of the spin-orbit coupling (SOC). By means of systematic numerical computations, we demonstrate that the interplay of SOC and long-range spherically symmetric Rydberg interactions stabilize the 3D solitons, improving their resistance to collapse. Image classification is a fundamental computer vision problem, and neural networks offer efficient solutions. With advancing quantum technology, quantum neural networks have gained attention. However, they work only for low-dimensional data and demand dimensionality reduction and quantum encoding. Two recent image classification methods have emerged: one employs PCA dimensionality reduction and angle encoding, the other integrates QNNs into CNNs to boost performance. Despite numerous algorithms, comparing PCA reduction with angle encoding against the latter remains unclear. This study explores these algorithms' performance in multi-class image classification and proposes an optimized hybrid quantum neural network suitable for the current environment. Investigating PCA-based quantum algorithms unveils a barren plateau issue for QNNs as categories increase, unsuitable for multi-class in the hybrid setup. Simultaneously, the combined CNN-QNN model partly overcomes QNN's multi-class training challenges but lags in accuracy to superior traditional CNN models. Additionally, this work explores transfer learning in the hybrid quantum neural network model. In conclusion, quantum neural networks show promise but require further research and optimization, facing challenges ahead.

In 2021, Wu et al. presented a multi-party quantum summation scheme exploiting the entanglement properties of d-dimensional Bell states (Wu et al. in Quantum Inf Process 20:200, 2021). In particular, the authors proposed a three-party quantum summation protocol and then extended their work to a multi-party case. It is claimed that their protocol is secure against outside and participants' attacks. However, this work points out that Wu's protocol has a loophole, i.e., two or more dishonest participants who meet a specific location relationship can conspire to obtain the private inputs of some honest participants without being detected. Accordingly, improvements are proposed to address these issues.

Many issues concerning the origin of high-temperature superconductivity (HTS) are still under debate. For example, how the magnetic ordering varies with doping and its relationship with the superconducting temperature; and why the maximal Tc always occurs near the quantum critical point. In this paper, taking hole-doped La2CuO4 as a classical example, we employ the first-principles band structure and total energy calculations and Monte Carlo simulations to explore how the symmetry-breaking magnetic ground state evolves with hole doping and the origin of a dome-shaped superconductivity region in the phase diagram. We demonstrate that the local antiferromagnetic ordering and doping play key roles in determining the electron-phonon coupling, thus Tc. Initially, the La2CuO4 possesses a checkerboard local antiferromagnetic ground state. As the hole doping increases, Tc increases with the increase of the density of states at the Fermi surface. But as the doping increases further, the strength of the antiferromagnetic interaction weakens. At the critical doping level, a magnetic phase transition occurs that reduces the local antiferromagnetism-assisted electron-phonon coupling, thus diminishing the Tc. The superconductivity disappears in the heavily overdoped region when the antiferromagnetic ordering disappears. These observations could account for why cuprates have a dome-shaped superconductivity region in the phase diagram. This article illustrates a novel Quantum Secure Aggregation (QSA) scheme that is designed to provide highly secure and efficient aggregation of local model parameters for federated learning. The scheme is secure in protecting private model parameters from being disclosed to semi-honest attackers by utilizing quantum bits i.e. qubits to represent model parameters. The proposed security mechanism ensures that any attempts to eavesdrop private model parameters can be immediately detected and stopped. The scheme is also efficient in terms of the low computational complexity of transmitting and aggregating model parameters through entangled qubits. Benefits of the proposed QSA scheme are showcased in a horizontal federated learning setting in which both a centralized and decentralized architectures are taken into account. It was empirically demonstrated that the proposed QSA can be readily applied to aggregate different types of local models including logistic regression (LR), convolutional neural networks (CNN) as well as quantum neural network (QNN), indicating the versatility of the QSA scheme. Performances of global models are improved to various extents with respect to local models obtained by individual participants, while no private model parameters are disclosed to semi-honest adversaries.

Scattering phase shift, as a key parameter in scattering theory, plays an important role in characterizing low-energy collisions between ultracold atoms. In this work, we theoretically investigate the universal low-energy behavior of the scattering phase shifts for cold atoms in the presence of spin-orbit coupling. We first construct the asymptotic form of the two-body wave function when two fermions get as close as the interaction range, and consider perturbatively the correction of the spin-orbit coupling up to the second order, in which new scattering parameters are introduced. Then for elastic collisions, the scattering phase shifts are defined according to the unitary scattering $S$ matrix. We show how the low-energy behavior of the scattering phase shifts is modified by these new scattering parameters introduced by spin-orbit coupling. The universality of the scattering phase shifts is manifested as the independence of the specific form of the interatomic potential. The explicit forms of the new scattering parameters are analytically derived within a model of the spherical-square-well potential. We investigate the mean-field energy spectrum and dynamics in a Bose-Einstein condensate in a double-well potential with non-Hermiticity from the nonreciprocal hopping, and show that the interplay of nonreciprocity and nonlinearity leads to exotic properties. Under the two-mode and mean-field approximations, the nonreciprocal generalization of the nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equation and Bloch equations of motion for this system are obtained. We analyze the PT phase diagram and the dynamical stability of fixed points. The reentrance of PT-symmetric phase and the reformation of stable fixed points with increasing the nonreciprocity parameter are found. Besides, we uncover a linear self-trapping effect induced by the nonreciprocity. In the nonlinear case, the self-trapping oscillation is enhanced by the nonreciprocity and then collapses in the PT-broken phase, and can finally be recovered in the reentrant PT-symmetric phase., Comment: accepted by Frontiers of Physics
