Abstract Wind power is an exceptionally clean source of energy; its rational utilization can fundamentally alleviate the energy, environment, and development problems, especially under the goals of ‘carbon peak’ and ‘carbon neutrality’. A combined short‐term wind power prediction based on long short‐term memory (LSTM) artificial neural network has been studied aiming at the non‐linearity and volatility of wind energy. Due to the large amount of historical data required to predict the wind power precisely, the ambient temperature and wind speed, direction, and power are selected as model input. The Complete Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition with Adaptive Noise has been introduced as data preprocessing to decompose wind power data and reduce the noise. And the Particle Swarm Optimization is conducted to optimize the LSTM network parameters. The combined prediction model with high accuracy for different sampling intervals has been verified by the wind farm data of Chongli Demonstration Project in Hebei Province. The results illustrate that the algorithm can effectively overcome the abnormal data influence and wind power volatility, thereby providing a theoretical reference for precise short‐term wind power prediction.

3. Characteristics and functions of volatile organic compounds in the tripartite symbiotic system of Gastrodia elata-Armillaria gallica-Rahnella aceris HPDA25

Tripartite interactions among plants, fungi, and bacteria are critical for maintaining plant growth and fitness, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) play a significant role in these interactions. However, the functions of VOCs within the niche of mycoheterotrophic plants, which represent unique types of interactions, remain poorly understood. Gastrodia elata, a mycoheterotrophic orchid species, forms a symbiotic relationship with specific Armillaria species, serving as a model system to investigate this intriguing issue. Rahnella aceris HPDA25 is a plant growth-promoting bacteria isolated from G. elata, which has been found to facilitate the establishment of G. elata-Armillaria symbiosis. In this study, using the tripartite symbiotic system of G. elata-Armillaria gallica-R. aceris HPDA25, we investigate the role of VOCs in the interaction among mycoheterotrophic plants, fungi, and bacteria. Our results showed that 33 VOCs of HPDA25-inducible symbiotic G. elata elevated compared to non-symbiotic G. elata, indicating that VOCs indeed play a role in the symbiotic process. Among these, 21 VOCs were accessible, and six active VOCs showed complete growth inhibition activities against A. gallica, while R. aceris HPDA25 had no significant effect. In addition, three key genes of G. elata have been identified that may contribute to the increased concentration of six active VOCs. These results revealed for the first time the VOCs profile of G. elata and demonstrated its regulatory role in the tripartite symbiotic system involving G. elata, Armillaria, and bacteria.

GCA, also known as Buschke-Lowenstein tumor, is a rare sexually transmitted disease associated with HPV types 6 and 111. These warts are considered histologically benign, but there is a risk of localized invasion and development of malignancy. This malignant transformation occurs most often in the perianal and vulvar areas, and involvement of other sites is relatively rare2. In this case, we report a rare case of a giant wart originating from breast skin infected with HPV and progressing to cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.

The majority of patients with thyroid cancer can attain a favorable prognosis with a comprehensive treatment program based on surgical treatment. However, the current treatment options for advanced thyroid cancer are still limited. In recent years, chimeric antigen receptor-modified T-cell (CAR-T) therapy has received widespread attention in the field of oncology treatment. It has achieved remarkable results in the treatment of hematologic tumors. However, due to the constraints of multiple factors, the therapeutic efficacy of CAR-T therapy for solid tumors, including thyroid cancer, has not yet met expectations. This review outlines the fundamental structure and treatment strategies of CAR-T cells, provides an overview of the advancements in both preclinical investigations and clinical trials focusing on targets associated with CAR-T cell therapy in treating thyroid cancer, and discusses the challenges and solutions to CAR-T cell therapy for thyroid cancer. In conclusion, CAR-T cell therapy is a promising therapeutic approach for thyroid cancer, and we hope that our review will provide a timely and updated study of CAR-T cell therapy for thyroid cancer to advance the field.

Abstract Current treatment for functional dyspepsia (FD) has limited and unsustainable efficacy. Probiotics have the sustainable potential to alleviate FD. This randomized controlled clinical trial (Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, ChiCTR2000041430) assigned 200 FD patients to receive placebo, positive-drug (rabeprazole), or Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BL-99 (BL-99; low, high doses) for 8-week. The primary outcome was the clinical response rate (CRR) of FD score after 8-week treatment. The secondary outcomes were CRR of FD score at other periods, and PDS, EPS, serum indicators, fecal microbiota and metabolites. The CRR in FD score for the BL-99_high group [45 (90.0%)] was significantly higher than that for placebo [29 (58.0%), p = 0.001], BL-99_low [37 (74.0%), p = 0.044] and positive_control [35 (70.0%), p = 0.017] groups after 8-week treatment. This effect was sustained until 2-week after treatment but disappeared 8-week after treatment. Further metagenomic and metabolomics revealed that BL-99 promoted the accumulation of SCFA-producing microbiota and the increase of SCFA levels in stool and serum, which may account for the increase of serum gastrin level. This study supports the potential use of BL-99 for the treatment of FD.

In order to facilitate engineers to manage dynamic loads in real time and improve the utilization of power cables, it is necessary to accurately calculate the temperature rise of cable cores under duct laying conditions. The transient thermal circuit model involved in this paper helps to improve the speed of dynamic response and the accuracy of transient temperature rise calculation for power cable cores under duct laying conditions. Since the impact of the environmental conditions, exploring the computational relationships of the thermal circuit model parameters helps to improve the engineering applicability of the model. The duct cable can be broken down into three parts: the cable body, the air inside the pipe and the external environment. In engineering, the thermal circuit model parameters of the cable body can be made into a table and applied by looking up the table. The thermal circuit model parameters of air in duct are related to the cable outside diameter and duct inside diameter, and can also be engineered using tables for application. The fit gives the third part of the equation with respect to the thermal resistance coefficient of the duct and soil and the burial depth. The error in applying the decentralized thermal circuit model and parametric expressions is less than 1 °C compared to the results of finite element calculations. This proves that the decomposition of the duct power cable model improves the accuracy of the transient temperature rise calculation. The relationship equation between the parameters of the thermal circuit model and the laying conditions helps to improve the engineering adaptability of the method.

Fusarium head blight (FHB), a severe ailment triggered by fungal pathogens, poses a considerable risk to both the yield and quality of winter wheat worldwide, underscoring the urgency for precise detection measures that can effectively mitigate and manage the spread of FHB. Addressing the limitations of current deep learning models in capturing detailed features from UAV imagery, this study proposes an advanced identification model for FHB in wheat based on multispectral imagery from UAVs. The model leverages the U2Net network as its baseline, incorporating the Coordinate Attention (CA) mechanism and the RFB-S (Receptive Field Block—Small) multi-scale feature extraction module. By integrating key spectral features from multispectral bands (SBs) and vegetation indices (VIs), the model enhances feature extraction capabilities and spatial information awareness. The CA mechanism is used to improve the model’s ability to express image features, while the RFB-S module increases the receptive field of convolutional layers, enhancing multi-scale spatial feature modeling. The results demonstrate that the improved U2Net model, termed U2Net-plus, achieves an identification accuracy of 91.73% for FHB in large-scale wheat fields, significantly outperforming the original model and other mainstream semantic segmentation models such as U-Net, SegNet, and DeepLabV3+. This method facilitates the rapid identification of large-scale FHB outbreaks in wheat, providing an effective approach for large-field wheat disease detection.

Non grid connected wind power hydrogen production technology is of great significance for the large-scale comprehensive utilization of hydrogen energy and accelerating the development of clean energy. In this paper, an electrolyzer power allocation and alternate control method for non grid connected wind power hydrogen production is proposed, and the optimized control strategy are combined to predict the maximum wind power of certain time interval. While retaining the required data characteristics, the instantaneous fluctuation of some wind power data is eliminated, which provides a reliable basis for power distribution in the alternation control strategy of electrolyzer array. The case simulation verifies the effectiveness of the electrolyzer array control principle and the prediction of the maximum wind power. While ensuring the absorption effect and hydrogen production rate, the service life and operation safety of the electrolyzer array are effectively improved by balancing the working state of each electrolyzer.

14. Super short term combined power prediction for wind power hydrogen production

A combined ultra-short-term wind power prediction strategy with high robustness based on least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) has been proposed, in order to solve the wind abandonment caused by wind power randomness and realize efficient hydrogen production under wide power fluctuation. Firstly, the original wind power data is decomposed into sub-modes with different bandwidth by variational modal decomposition (VMD), which reduces the influence of random noise and mode mixing significantly. Then dragonfly algorithm (DA) is introduced to optimize LSSVM kernel function and the combined ultra-short-term wind power prediction strategy which meets the time resolution and accuracy requirements of electrolytic cell control has been established finally. This model is validated by a wind power hydrogen production demonstration project output in the middle east of China. The superior prediction accuracy for high volatility wind power data is verified and the algorithm provides theoretical basis to improve the control of wind power hydrogen production system.

15. Multi-Objective Robust Optimization of Integrated Energy System with Hydrogen Energy Storage

A novel multi-objective robust optimization model of an integrated energy system with hydrogen storage (HIES) considering source–load uncertainty is proposed to promote the low-carbon economy operation of the integrated energy system of a park. Firstly, the lowest total system cost and carbon emissions are selected as the multi-objective optimization functions. The Pareto front solution set of the objective function is applied by compromise planning, and the optimal solution among them is obtained by the maximum–minimum fuzzy method. Furthermore, the robust optimization (RO) approach is introduced to cope with the source–load uncertainty effectively. Finally, it is demonstrated that the illustrated HIES can significantly reduce the total system cost, carbon emissions, and abandoned wind and solar power. Meanwhile, the effectiveness of the proposed model and solution method is verified by analyzing the influence of multi-objective solutions and a robust coefficient on the Chongli Demonstration Project in Hebei Province.

16. Age and gender differences in expressive flexibility and the association with depressive symptoms in adolescents

ObjectiveThis study investigated age and gender differences in the ability to flexibly enhance and suppress facial expressions according to situational demands, known as expressive flexibility (EF), as well as its relationship with depressive symptoms in adolescents.MethodsThe participants included 766 Chinese high school students aged between 12 and 18 years (mean age = 14.96 years, standard deviation = 2.04; 52.2% female). Data on EF and depressive symptoms were collected using self-report questionnaires.ResultsGirls scored higher on enhancement abilities than boys, but with no significant gender difference in suppression abilities. There were also no significant age-related differences in enhancement and suppression abilities. Only enhancement ability was negatively associated with depressive symptoms.ConclusionThe development of EF abilities was stable among adolescents, with varying effects in terms of gender, and the importance of EF and enhancement abilities in reducing depressive symptoms in adolescents was highlighted.

17. Mediation effects of positive and negative affect on the relationship between emotional intelligence and life satisfaction in rural school teachers

Few studies have investigated the ways in which the specific facets of trait emotional intelligence (EI), positive affect (PA), and negative affect (NA) influence individuals’ general life satisfaction, especially in teachers. This study explored the effects of three facets of trait EI [appraisal and expression of emotions (AEE), utilization of emotion (UE), and regulation of emotions (RE)] and two typical affects (PA and NA) on teachers’ general life satisfaction. The participants were 577 Chinese rural school teachers (ages 18–49 years) who completed three questionnaires—the Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test, Positive and Negative Affective scale, and Satisfaction with Life Scale. After validating the scales, a structural equation modeling analysis showed that trait EI, PA, and NA had a significant and positive effect on teachers’ general life satisfaction. PA played a partial mediating role between trait EI and life satisfaction. Furthermore, this study found that PA significantly and positively mediated the relationship between AEE, UE, RE, and life satisfaction. These results suggest that teachers with higher EI are more likely to have positive emotions, thereby enhancing their general life satisfaction, and that understanding the role of one’s own and others’ emotions and increasing positive emotions may be the key to improving teachers’ general life satisfaction. Future implications and the study limitations are discussed.

18. Downregulated ESRP1/2 promotes lung metastasis of bladder carcinoma through altering FGFR2 splicing and macrophage polarization

IntroductionLung metastasis occurs in parts of the bladder carcinoma (BC) patients but represents the highest severity and a poor outcome of the disease. The molecular mechanism underlying lung metastasis of BC is not fully understood. Fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) signaling plays a substantial role in the BC cell growth and invasion. In this study, we assessed the regulation of the alternative splicing of FGFR2 by epithelial splicing regulatory proteins (ESRPs) in lung metastasis of BC.MethodsGene profile of BC in comparison with adjacent non-tumor bladder tissue was obtained from GEO public database to analyze the levels of differentiated genes and pathways. Moreover, the association of ESRP1 or ESRP2 with lung metastasis of BC was analyzed on our own clinic samples. The effects of altered expression of ESRP1 or ESRP2 on alternative splicing of FGFR2 IIIb and IIIc, which represents epithelial and mesenchymal-like splicing, were analyzed on BC cell lines T24 and RT4. The in vivo effects of ESRP1 or ESRP2 on lung metastasis of BC were assessed in mice subcutaneously grafted with ESRP1/2-modified BC labeled with fluorescent and luciferase reporters.ResultsWe detected significant reduction of ESRP1 and ESRP2 in BC in public database of BC specimens. Moreover, analysis on our own specimens also showed strong downregulation of ESRP1 or ESRP2 in BC, and the latter was more pronounced in cases with lung metastasis. In vitro, altered levels of ESRP1 or ESRP2 caused a switch of FGFR2 splicing between FGFR2-IIIb and FGFR2-IIIc, resulting in changes in tumor cell growth and metastatic potential. In vivo, re-expression of ESRP1 or ESRP2 in BC cells not only inhibited the growth of the xenografted tumor formation in nude mice, but also reduced the occurrence of lung metastasis, partially through altering polarization of tumor-associated macrophages.ConclusionOur data thus suggest that reduction in ESRP1 or ESRP2 promotes lung metastasis of BC through altering FGFR2 splicing and macrophage polarization.

19. PuCRZ1, an C2H2 transcription factor from Polyporus umbellatus, positively regulates mycelium response to osmotic stress

Polyporus umbellatus is an edible and medicinal mushroom with the capacity to produce sclerotia. However, the mechanism of P. umbellatus sclerotia formation is unclear. CRZ1 is a C2H2 family transcription factor involved in the Ca2+-calcineurin signaling pathway, which has the function of regulating sclerotia formation, maintaining ion homeostasis, and responding to stress. In this study, we identified 28 C2H2 transcription factors in P. umbellatus genome, 13 of which are differentially expressed between mycelium and sclerotia, including PuCRZ1. Combining DNA affinity purification and sequencing (DAP-seq) and quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), three genes (PuG10, PuG11, PuG12) were identified as putative PuCRZ1 target genes containing a putative binding motif (GTGGCG) within their promoter. Yeast single hybridization (Y1H) and EMSA further confirmed that PuCRZ1 can bind to the promoter region of PuG10, PuG11, and PuG12. PuCRZ1 gene could reduce the sensitivity of NaCl in yeast cells. Furthermore, overexpression of the PuCRZ1 target gene, especially the FVLY domain containing gene PuG11, could improve the mycelia growth rate and mannitol tolerance in P. umbellatus. These results demonstrate that PuCRZ1 in the Ca2+-calcineurin signaling pathway plays an important role in mycelia growth, as well as osmotic stress tolerance.

20. Emotion regulation as a mediator on the relationship between emotional awareness and depression in elementary school students

As a cognitive skill, emotional awareness plays a fundamental role in emotional intelligence and significant effect on the development of individuals’ social adaptation. However, the role of emotional awareness in children’s social adaptation, especially emotional development, remains unclear, the current study sought to determine the significant influence of emotional awareness in children’s emotional development. By using cross-sectional and longitudinal study designs, the current study explored the relationship between emotional awareness and children’s depression, as well as the mediation effect of emotion regulation on this relationship. The sample comprised 166 Chinese elementary school students (89 girls and 77 boys) ranging from 8 to 12 years old. After adjusting for demographic variables (gender, grade, etc.), the results showed that children with high emotional awareness were less likely to adopt expressive suppression as an emotion regulation strategy and had lower depression levels currently and in the future. In contrast, children with low emotional awareness were more likely to use suppression strategies and showed higher depression levels. Thus, the results indicated that emotional awareness could predict children’s current and future depression status. Meanwhile, emotional regulation strategies are an important mediating variable explaining the relationship between emotional awareness and children’s depression. Implications and limitations were also discussed.

The purpose of the current study was to examine how trait emotional quotient (EQ) and adversity quotient (AQ) contribute to individuals’ objective career success (job position) and subjective career success (organizational commitment). Participants included 256 Chinese adults who completed four measurements—the Self-Reported Emotional Intelligence Test, Resilience Scale, Grit Scale, and the Affective, Continuance, and Normative Commitment Scale—and provided demographic information. After validating the four scales used in this study, multiple regression analysis revealed that only one aspect of trait EQ (regulation of emotion) positively predicted one component of organizational commitment (affective commitment). Adversity quotient was measured on two dimensions: resilience and grit. Only consistency of interest (grit) positively predicted affective commitment. Perseverance of effort (grit) and acceptance of self and life (resilience) positively predicted normative commitment. Personal competence (resilience) positively predicted continuance commitment but negatively predicted normative commitment. Only acceptance of self and life (resilience) positively predicted job position. Overall, these findings demonstrate the specific influence of trait EQ and AQ on career success for organizational professionals who want to improve organizational productivity as well as individuals who want to achieve success at work.

The geographical origin and the important nutrient contents greatly affect the quality of red raspberry (RRB, Rubus idaeus L.), a popular fruit with various health benefits. In this study, a chemometrics-assisted hyperspectral imaging (HSI) method was developed for predicting the nutrient contents, including pectin polysaccharides (PPS), reducing sugars (RS), total flavonoids (TF) and total phenolics (TP), and identifying the geographical origin of RRB fruits. The results showed that these nutrient contents in RRB fruits had significant differences between regions (P < 0.05) and could be well predicted based on the HSI full or effective wavelengths selected through competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (CARS) and variable iterative space shrinkage approach (VISSA). The best prediction results of PPS, RS, TF, and TP contents were achieved with the highest residual predictive deviation (RPD) values of 3.66, 3.95, 2.85, and 4.85, respectively. The RRB fruits from multi-regions in China were effectively distinguished by using the first derivative-partial least squares discriminant analysis (DER-PLSDA) model, with an accuracy of above 97%. Meanwhile, the fruits from three protected geographical indication (PGI) regions were successfully classified by using the orthogonal partial least squares discrimination analysis (OPLSDA) model, with an accuracy of above 98%. The study results indicate that HSI assisted with chemometrics is a promising method for predicting the important nutrient contents and identifying the geographical origin of red raspberry fruits.

Artemisia absinthium, an important herb of the Artemisia genus, was evaluated in this study for its potential as an alternative to classical antibiotics. The antimicrobial activity of methanol extracts of A. absinthium (MEAA) was evaluated using the broth microdilution method, revealing that A. absinthium exhibited broad-spectrum antibacterial and antifungal activity. Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time of flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS) was used to analyze the chemical profile of the MEAA, with a focus on flavonoids, quinic acids, and glucaric acids. A total of 90 compounds were identified, 69 of which were described for the first time in A. absinthium. Additionally, a new class of caffeoyl methyl glucaric acids was identified. The main active compounds were quantified and screened for antimicrobial activity. A. absinthium was found to be rich in quinic acids and flavonoids. The screening for antimicrobial activity also revealed that salicylic acid, caffeic acid, casticin, and 3,4-dicaffeoylquinic acid had varying degrees of antimicrobial activity. The acute toxicity of MEAA was examined following OECD guidelines. The administration of 5000 mg/kg bw of MEAA did not result in mortality in male and female mice. Furthermore, there were no observed effects on the visceral organs or general behavior of the mice, demonstrating the good safety of MEAA. This study provides new evidence for the use of A. absinthium as an alternative to classical antibiotics in addressing the problem of bacterial resistance.

The existing inherent strain method is improved in this paper to address the shortcomings of the existing inherent strain method in the process of loading inherent strain. Unlike the traditional inherent strain method, which uses one-step loading inherent strain for each weld seam for one-time elastic calculation, the improved inherent strain method uses step-by-step loading inherent strain for each weld seam for multiple elastic calculations to predict welding deformation. The step-by-step loading inherent strain method (SBS-ISM) is more in line with the actual welding deformation generation process. Firstly, the local finite element model of the T-joint was used to analyze the welding deformation and extract the inherent strain by using the thermal elastic–plastic finite element method (TEP-FEM). Subsequently, the one-step loading inherent strain method (OS-ISM) and the step-by-step loading inherent strain method (SBS-ISM) were used to predict the welding deformation for the same local finite element model, respectively. The comparative results showed that the trend and magnitude of welding deformation calculated using SBS-ISM was much closer to those calculated using TEP-FEM. The OS-ISM and SBS-ISM were used to predict the welding deformation of the backward centrifugal fan impeller under different welding sequences, respectively. By comparing the welding deformation results calculated using the two inherent strain methods with the experimental results, it was demonstrated that the step-by-step loading inherent strain method (SBS-ISM) provides more accurate and reliable predictions of welding deformation for large and complex thin-walled T-shaped structural components compared to the one-step loading inherent strain method (OS-ISM).

This paper focuses on output controllability and observability of mix-valued logic control networks (MLCNs), of which the updating of outputs is determined by both inputs and states via logical rules. First, as for output controllability, the number of different control sequences are derived to steer a MLCN from a given initial state to a destination output in a given number of time steps via semi-tensor product method. By construsting the output controllability matrix, criteria for the output controllability are obtained. Second, to solve the problem of observability, we construct an augmented MLCN with the same transition matrix, and use the set controllability approach to determine the observability of MLCNs. Finally, a hydrogeological example is presented to verify the obtained results.

Polyporus umbellatus is a well-known edible and medicinal mushroom, and some bacteria isolated from mushroom sclerotia may have beneficial effects on their host. These mushroom growth-promoting bacteria (MGPBs) are of great significance in the mushroom production. In this work, we aimed to isolate and identify MGPBs from P. umbellatus sclerotia. Using the agar plate dilution method, strain CACMS001 was isolated from P. umbellatus sclerotia. The genome of CACMS001 was sequenced using PacBio platform, and the phylogenomic analysis indicated that CACMS001 could not be assigned to known Rhizobium species. In co-culture experiments, CACMS001 increased the mycelial growth of P. umbellatus and Armillaria gallica and increased xylanase activity in A. gallica. Comparative genomic analysis showed that CACMS001 lost almost all nitrogen fixation genes but specially acquired one redox cofactor cluster with pqqE, pqqD, pqqC, and pqqB involved in the synthesis of pyrroloquinoline quinone, a peptide-derived redox participating in phosphate solubilization activity. Strain CACMS001 has the capacity to solubilize phosphate using Pikovskaya medium, and phnA and phoU involved in this process in CACMS001 were revealed by quantitative real-time PCR. CACMS001 is a new potential Rhizobium species and is the first identified MGPB belonging to Rhizobium. This novel bacterium would play a vital part in P. umbellatus, A. gallica, and other mushroom cultivation.

Abstract Most of the cost functions of adaptive filtering algorithms include the square error, which depends on the current error signal. When the additive noise is impulsive, we can expect that the square error will be very large. By contrast, the cross error, which is the correlation of the error signal and its delay, may be very small. Based on this fact, we propose a new cost function called the mean square cross error for adaptive filters, and provide the mean value and mean square performance analysis in detail. Furthermore, we present a two-stage method to estimate the closed-form solutions for the proposed method, and generalize the two-stage method to estimate the closed-form solution of the information theoretic learning methods, including least mean fourth, maximum correntropy criterion, generalized maximum correntropy criterion, and minimum kernel risk-sensitive loss. The simulations of the adaptive solutions and closed-form solution show the effectivity of the new method.

Many probiotic bacteria have been proven to prevent allergic airway responses through immunomodulation. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of heat-killed Bifidobacterium longum BBMN68 (BBMN68) in pasteurized yogurt on the alleviation of mugwort pollen (MP)-induced allergic inflammation. BALB/c mice aged 5–6 weeks were randomly assigned and fed pasteurized yogurt containing heat-killed BBMN68 for 27 days, followed by allergic sensitization and challenge with MP extract. The allergic mice that received pasteurized yogurt containing heat-killed BBMN68 had improved immune status, including a lower serum IgE level, decreased serum interleukin (IL)-4, IL-5, and IL-13 concentrations, and alleviated airway inflammation manifested by increased macrophage and decreased eosinophil and neutrophil counts in BALF, as well as airway remodeling and suppressed peribronchial cellular infiltration. Moreover, oral administration of pasteurized yogurt containing heat-killed BBMN68 significantly modulated gut microbiota composition by influencing the proportion of beneficial genera associated with inflammation and immunity, such as Lactobacillus, Candidatus_Saccharimonas, Odoribacter, and Parabacteroides, which also negatively correlated with serum IgE and Th2 cytokine levels. These results demonstrated that pasteurized yogurt containing heat-killed BBMN68 had mitigative effects on allergic airway inflammation, likely through maintaining the systemic Th1/Th2 immune balance by altering the structure and function of the gut microbiota.

As the proportion of wind power in the world’s electricity generation increases, improving wind power prediction accuracy is vital for making full use of wind energy and ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid. Given the uncertainty and volatility of wind power and the weak generalization ability of the current wind power prediction models, we propose a wind power prediction model that combines Adaboost algorithm with extreme learning machine optimized by particle swarm optimization (PSO-ELM). First, particle swarm optimization is used to optimize the initial thresholds and input weights of the ELM to obtain the PSO-ELM basic prediction model. Then, combined with the Adaboost algorithm, a series of PSO-ELM weak predictors with input weights and thresholds optimized by PSO and containing different hidden layer nodes are composed. Finally, each weak predictor is weighted and fused into a strong prediction model of wind power, and the final prediction results are output. In this paper, the Adaboost-PSO-ELM model is verified by a wind turbine’s measured data in Turkey. The prediction indicators are compared with the current wind power prediction methods including optimized neural networks and ensemble learning models. The results show that the Adaboost-PSO-ELM wind power prediction model has higher accuracy and better generalization ability.

ObjectiveTo explore the therapeutic effect and mechanism of low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation on the speech function of patients with non-fluent aphasia after stroke.MethodsAccording to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 60 patients with post-stroke non-fluent aphasia were included and randomly divided into treatment group (rTMS group) and sham stimulation group (S-rTMS group). Patients in rTMS group were given low-frequency rTMS + ST training. Patients in the S-rTMS group were given sham low-frequency rTMS + ST training. Once a day, 5 days a week, for a total of 4 weeks. The Western Aphasia Battery and the short-form Token test were used to evaluate the language function of the patients in the two groups before and after treatment. Part of the enrolled patients were subjected to functional magnetic resonance imaging examination, and the morning fasting venous blood of the enrolled patients was drawn before and after treatment to determine the content of BDNF and TNF-α.ResultsIn the comparison before and after treatment within the group, all dimensions of the WAB scale of the patients in the rTMS group increased significantly. Only two dimensions of the WAB scale of the patients in the S-rTMS group improved significantly after treatment. The results of the short-form Token test showed that patients in the rTMS group improved significantly before and after treatment. The resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging of the two groups of patients before and after treatment showed: the activation of multiple brain regions in the left hemisphere of the rTMS group increased compared with the control group. The serum BDNF content of the patients in the rTMS group was significantly higher than that of the patients in the S-rTMS group after treatment.ConclusionLow-frequency rTMS combined with conventional speech training can significantly improve the speech function of patients with non-fluent aphasia after stroke.

Probiotics and prebiotics relieve constipation by altering the composition of the intestinal microbiota. However, their synergistic mechanism of action remains unclear. Herein, an in vitro fermentation model was constructed to examine the synergistic effects of Bifidobacterium lactis BL-99 and fructooligosaccharide (FOS) on the regulation of intestinal microbiota from a population with constipation. The utilization of FOS was promoted by BL-99, and the increase rate being 22.33%. Relative to the BL-99 and the FOS groups, the BL-99_FOS group showed a highly significant increase in acetic acid content (P < 0.01) and a marked decrease in CO2 and H2S contents (P < 0.01) in the fermentation broth. In addition, the BL-99_FOS combination significantly changed the structure of the intestinal microbiota, enhanced the relative abundances of beneficial bacteria that relieved constipation, including Bifidobacterium, Fecalibacterium, Lactobacillus, Subdoligranulum, and Blautia, and decreased those of the harmful bacteria, including Bilophila and Escherichia-Shigella. These findings suggested that BL-99 and FOS synergistically regulated the composition and structure of the intestinal microbiota from the population with constipation and increased acetic acid and decreased CO2 and H2S levels, thereby providing a theoretical basis for the application of synbiotics.

Introduction: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is chronic inflammatory ailment that distinguished by diarrhea, stomach pain, reduced body weight, and hematochezia. UC affects nearly 400 per 100,000 peoples worldwide. In this exploration, we intended to fabricate the copper oxide nanoparticles from the T. kirilowii (TK-CuNPs) and inspect their curative potential against the Dextran sulfate disodium salt (DSS)-provoked colitis in animals. Methods: Formulated TK-CuNPs were characterized by UV–vis spectroscopy, FT-IR, SEM, TEM, and DLS techniques. UC was provoked in mice through administering of 2% DSS for 7-days and treated with the 10 mg/kg bodyweight of TK-CuNPs via intragastric intubation. Myeloperoxidase activity, colon weight, and length, and spleen weight were determined by standard methods. Pro-inflammatory mediators, i.e. IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α were inspected by the assay kits. The expression of COX-2 and iNOS were analyzed by immunohistochemistry. Histopathological changes in colon tissues were investigated microscopically by H&E staining. The cytotoxicity and in vitro anti-inflammatory activities of TK-CuNPs were analyzed in RAW-264.7 cells. Results: The outcomes of various characterization studies demonstrated the formation of TK-CuNPs. The TK-CuNPs supplementation to the DSS induced colitis mice demonstrated the appreciable bodyweight gain and reduced the DAI scores. TK-CuNPs improved the colon length and spleen weight and suppressed the MPO activity. The status of pro-inflammatory mediators IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α was appreciably suppressed by the TK-CuNPs treatment. The expressions of COX-2 and iNOS was also diminished by the TK-CuNPs. TK-CuNPs did not possessed toxicity to the RAW-264.7 cells and suppressed the inflammatory markers level in the RAW-264.7 cells. Discussion and Conclusion: The current findings revealed that fabricated TK-CuNPs can be a hopeful therapeutic agent to treat acute colitis.

36. Mycorrhizosphere Bacteria, Rahnella sp. HPDA25, Promotes the Growth of Armillaria gallica and Its Parasitic Host Gastrodia elata

Gastrodia elata is an entirely heterotrophic plant, the growth of which is completely reliant on Armillaria gallica, an orchid mycorrhizal fungus. To avoid damaging ecosystems, G. elata cultivation is shifting from woodland to farmland. However, whether the microbial community structure remains stable during this conversation is unknown. Here, we cultivated G. elata in woodland or farmland and found that woodland-cultivated G. elata produced a greater yield and larger tuber size. The relative abundance of Rahnella was 22.84- and 122.25-fold higher in woodland- and farmland-cultivated soil samples, respectively, than that in uncultivated soil samples. To investigate how Rahnella impacts the growth of G. elata and establishes symbiosis with Armillaria gallica, three Rahnella spp. strains (HPDA25, SBD3, and SBD11) were isolated from mycorrhizosphere soil samples. It was found that these strains, especially HPDA25, promoted the growth of A. gallica. Ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to a triple quadrupole mass spectrometry analysis detected the indole-3-acetic acid with 16.24 ng/ml in HPDA25 fermentation solution. Co-culturing with the strain HPDA25 or exogenous indole-3-acetic acid increased the branching and fresh weight of rhizomorphs and the growth rate and extracellular laccase activity of A. gallica, compared with A. gallica cultured alone. The results of RNA-seq and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction analysis showed that co-culturing A. gallica with HPDA25 increased the expression level of the genes including hydrophobin, SUR7/PalI family, and pectin methylesterase, whereas decreased the expression levels of glycolysis-related genes. Furthermore, co-culturing with the strain HPDA25, A. gallica promotes the growth of G. elata and enhances the tuber size of G. elata. These results provide new insights into an orchid mycorrhizal symbiosis and the cultivation of G. elata.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide but has limited available therapeutic methods; therefore, there is a need to develop highly efficient prevention and treatment strategies. Here, we investigated the anti-cancer activity of β-elemonic acid (EA) in CRC in vitro and in vivo. Our results showed that EA inhibited cell proliferation and migration in the CRC cell lines SW480 and HCT116. Moreover, EA significantly suppressed the growth of transplanted colorectal tumors in nude mice. Interestingly, high-throughput tandem mass tag (TMT)-based quantitative proteomics indicated that EA mainly targets tumor mitochondria and attenuates the translation of 54 mitochondrial ribosome proteins, many of which are discovered significantly upregulated in clinical CRC patients. More interestingly, EA at a low concentration (lower than 15 μg/ml) repressed the cell cycle by downregulating CDK1, CDK6, and CDC20, whereas at a high concentration (higher than 15 μg/ml), caused a non-apoptotic cell death—ferroptosis via downregulating ferritin (FTL) and upregulating transferrin (TF), ferroxidase (CP), and acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4). This is the first report on the panoramic molecular mechanism of EA against CRC, which would make great contributions to developing a novel drug for colorectal cancer therapy.

This paper proposes a novel adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) approach to address the optimal consensus control problem for discrete-time multiagent systems (MASs). Compared with the traditional optimal control algorithms for MASs, the proposed algorithm is designed on the basis of the event-triggered scheme which can save the communication and computation resources. First, the consensus tracking problem is transferred into the input-state stable (ISS) problem. Based on this, the event-triggered condition for each agent is designed and the event-triggered ADP is presented. Second, neural networks are introduced to simplify the application of the proposed algorithm. Third, the stability analysis of the MASs under the event-triggered conditions is provided and the estimate errors of the neural networks’ weights are also proved to be ultimately uniformly bounded. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the event-triggered ADP consensus control method.

Perfect flow distribution is extremely important and essential for digital pumps. However, the fluctuation of motor speed and the change of valve dynamic characteristics cause the flow distribution flaw, which generates the backflow of the oil in the piston chamber and the decrease in pump volumetric efficiency. Based on the three-dimensional and mathematical modeling of the digital pump, the perfect distribution state of the digital pump is analyzed. Then, the adverse effects of the variations in motor speed and valve dynamic characteristics on the flow distribution of the digital pump were simulated and investigated by the software AMESim. To overcome the aforementioned problems, we proposed an adaptive control method for the flow distribution valve of a digital pump, which was realized by adopting the axis rotation angle and the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the flow distribution valve. The results show that the control signal of the flow distribution valve can be regulated automatically along with the motor speed and the valve dynamic characteristics, achieving the ideal flow distribution of the digital pump designed in this paper. The study can be used as a reference for the optimal design and prototype manufacturing of the digital pump.

Melicope pteleifolia commonly known as thin evodia, is an herb used to therapy eczema, dermatitis, and other ailments in traditional Chinese medicine. Here, we reported the third complete chloroplast genome of M. pteleifolia based on next-generation sequencing. The third chloroplast genome of M. pteleifolia is 158,933 bp in length consisting of large and small single-copy regions of length 85,020 and 18,607 bp, separated by two IR regions of 27,683 bp. The overall GC content was 38.30%. De novo assembly and annotation showed the chloroplast genome of M. pteleifolia encodes 134 genes, including 89 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. A huge intraspecies variation was found with 248 SNPs and 97 INDELs among three assemblies of M. pteleifolia. Phylogenetic tree indicated that three assemblies of M. pteleifolia form a clade, sister to the genus Phellodendron and Casimiroa.

Prunus japonica is an ornamental and medicinal plant that is widely cultivated. The complete chloroplast genome of P. japonica was sequenced using Illumina Hiseq X Ten platform. The chloroplast genome was 158,080 bp in length, containing two short inverted repeat (IRa and IRb) regions of 26,385 bp, which was separated by a large single copy (LSC) region of 86,270 bp and a small single copy (SSC) region of 19,040 bp. The GC content of the whole chloroplast genome was 36.8%. The chloroplast DNA of P. japonica comprised 112 distinct genes, including 78 protein-coding genes, 4 ribosomal RNA genes and 30 transfer RNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that all species of Prunus formed a monophyletic group, P. japonica was closely related to P. hulimis.

To improve welding efficiency, bypass current hot wire plasma arc welding (BC-PAW) was employed to weld Ti-6Al-4V alloy. The influence of process variables on metal transfer behaviour was explored using high-speed camera, and the material properties were investigated by means of different microscopes and mechanical test. The result shows that the weld seam has a good surface finish without welding defects. The main current, bypass current, and wire feeding speed have a significant influence on the metal transfer behaviour, which further influence the grains’ formation in the weld zone. The microstructure of the weld mainly comprises α martensite and the average tensile strength (UTS) of the as-received joint is 986 MPa, which is larger than that obtained using the conventional PAW method. The fracture occurs in the heat-affected zone (HAZ), which shows a typical ductile fracture surface.

In order to monitor human blood flow rate and flow velocity distribution, a blood flow meter based on multi-electrode electromagnetic measurement has been proposed to measure the flow velocity of the arteriovenous blood by obtaining the induced voltage on the skin surface. The COMSOL 3-D model has been built to simulate the physical structure of the human limb, including the size and relative position of skin, fat, bones, muscles, arteries and veins. Based on the Helmholtz coil and C-type coil, the electromagnetic induction intensity distribution of excitation structures and methods is simulated which is imposed through the body measurement section. The optimal design scheme of the excitation coil is proposed. Different excitation systems of different structures and different incentive methods are compared. The result shows that the two pairs of Helmholtz coils of orthogonal layout with syntroph excitation current has better uniformity, field center symmetry and stronger magnetic field strength, and effectively enhances the value of induction electromotive force, showing it is more suitable for multi-electrode electromagnetic measurement of non-axisymmetric flow. The research result proves that the optimization scheme of excitation system is feasible, and its uniformity plays a positive role in improving the accuracy of velocity reconstruction.

In order to measure the velocity profile of arterial and venous blood flow of human body and predict major cardiovascular diseases, the multi-electrode electromagnetic flow meter based on region weight function theory is proposed in this paper. The region weight function theory has been derived from traditional Shercliff theory and COMSOL model has been established to simulate the human limb according to the layout and relative position of skin, fat, bone, muscle, artery and vein. The cross section has been divided in to several regions and the induced voltages at different positions along the skin surface have been obtained by the electrode array. The local mean axial velocity profile of the vessel cross section is calculated, and the velocity information of the reverse flow in the arteries and veins is reconstructed. The results of three-dimensional finite element model simulation demonstrate that multi-electrode electromagnetic flow meter based on region weight function is feasible to characterize the velocity profile of arteries and veins with high accuracy. Region weight function based multi-electrode electromagnetic measurement method has some reference value for vessel blood flow velocity measurement and hemorheology anomaly monitoring of human body.

Soybean plant height and branching affect plant architecture and yield potential in soybean. In this study, the mutant dmbn was obtained by treating the cultivar Zhongpin 661 with ethylmethane sulfonate. The dmbn mutant plants were shorter and more branched than the wild type. The genetic analysis showed that the mutant trait was controlled by a semi-dominant gene. The candidate gene was fine-mapped to a 91 kb interval on Chromosome 9 by combining BSA-seq and linkage analysis. Sequence analysis revealed that Glyma.09g193000 encoding an Aux/IAA protein (GmIAA27) was mutated from C to T in the second exon of the coding region, resulting to amino acid substitution of proline to leucine. Overexpression of the mutant type of this gene in Arabidopsis thaliana inhibited apical dominance and promoted lateral branch development. Expression analysis of GmIAA27 and auxin response genes revealed that some GH3 genes were induced. GmIAA27 relies on auxin to interact with TIR1, whereas Gmiaa27 cannot interact with TIR1 owing to the mutation in the degron motif. Identification of this unique gene that controls soybean plant height and branch development provides a basis for investigating the mechanisms regulating soybean plant architecture development.

47. Why Providing Return Policies for Probabilistic Selling

Probabilistic selling, whereby the exact identity of a product remains unknown until after purchase. The existing literature on probabilistic selling primarily focus on its attractiveness under the non-refundable condition. In this paper, we aim to study whether probabilistic selling integrated with return policies is still a lucrative marketing tool. This is an important new inquiry because of the prevalence of return policies in E-commerce platforms as well as heterogeneity in consumer preferences occurring in almost all markets. We develop a game-theoretic model to capture the fit uncertainty stemmed from online purchasing and the assignment uncertainty rooted in the stochastic assignment of probabilistic products. We characterize the seller’s optimal pricing and integrated strategies of probabilistic selling and return policies. We find the attractiveness of the probabilistic selling strategy and its return policies depends on the degree of the fit uncertainty and the assignment uncertainty. Counterintuitively, we find that sellers should decrease rather than increase the customer hassle cost of returns. The higher prices of component products are used as an additional lever to suppress customers' return of the probabilistic products. We demonstrate the integrated strategies of probabilistic selling with return policies, as a general marketing tool, can be more valuable than a separate one. The integrated strategies can create a win-win situation, improving both profit and consumer welfare.

Background: Until recently, most enucleation techniques of the prostate were performed with the application of morcellator. We introduce a modified enucleation technique of thulium laser with non-morcellator approach, which is about incising and vaporizing remaining prostate tissue instead of a morcellator.Methods: A retrospective evaluation of 223 patients undergoing ThuLEP from January 2014 to December 2015 was performed in our institution. One hundred five of the patients used morcellator while the other 118 used non-morcellator approach. All patients were assessed with the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), quality of life (Qol), ultrasonography, serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA), maximal urine flow rate (Qmax), and postvoid residual urine volume (PVR). We reassessed these parameters at 1-, 3-, 6-, and 12-months after operation. Operative time, perioperative, and postoperative complications were also recorded.Results: Significant improvement was noted in the IPSS, QoL, Qmax, and PVR in both groups at the 12-month follow-up, and assessment showed no differences in these parameters between the two groups. Comparisons of the total operation time and enucleation time demonstrated no significant differences between the two groups. Our non-morcellator approach needed more time to incise and vaporize the enucleated tissue compared to morcellation when the prostate volume was about 40–80 ml (p < 0.05), while it showed a significant lower rate of superficial bladder injury than using morcellator (p < 0.05). There were no significant differences in other complications between the two groups (p > 0.05).Conclusions: Our modified technique is a safe and effective procedure for the treatment of BPH avoiding the potential complications caused by morcellator.

Abstract Background Nearly a half million people around the world are diagnosed with bladder cancer each year, and an incomplete understanding of its pathogenicity and lack of efficient biomarkers having been discovered lead to poor clinical management of bladder cancer. Fat mass and obesity‐associated protein (FTO) is a critical player in carcinogenesis. We, here, explored the role of FTO and unraveled the mechanism of its function in bladder cancer. Methods Identification of the correlation of FTO with bladder cancer was based on both bioinformatics and clinical analysis of tissue samples collected from a cohort of patients at a hospital and microarray data. Gain‐of‐function and loss‐of‐function assays were conducted in vivo and in vitro to assess the effect of FTO on bladder carcinoma tumor growth and its impact on the bladder carcinoma cell viability. Moreover, the interactions of intermediate products were also investigated to elucidate the mechanisms of FTO function. Results Bladder tumor tissues had increased FTO expression which correlated with clinical bladder cancer prognosis and outcomes. Both in vivo and in vitro, it played the function of an oncogene in stimulating the cell viability and tumorigenicity of bladder cancer. Furthermore, FTO catalyzed metastasis‐associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) demethylation, regulated microRNA miR‐384 and mal T cell differentiation protein 2 (MAL2) expression, and modulated the interactions among these processes. Conclusions The interplay of these four clinically relevant factors contributes to the oncogenesis of bladder cancer. FTO facilitates the tumorigenesis of bladder cancer through regulating the MALAT/miR‐384/MAL2 axis in m6A RNA modification manner, which ensures the potential of FTO for serving as a diagnostic or prognostic biomarker in bladder cancer.
