Background. This study is aimed at verifying a hypothetical model of the structural relationship between the recovery process and difficulties in daily life mediated by occupational dysfunction in severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). Methods. Community-dwelling participants with SPMI were enrolled in this multicenter cross-sectional study. The Recovery Assessment Scale (RAS), the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule second edition (WHODAS 2.0), and the Classification and Assessment of Occupational Dysfunction (CAOD) were used for assessment. Confirmatory factor analysis, multiple regression analysis, and Bayesian structural equation modelling (BSEM) were determined to analyze the hypothesized model. If the mediation model was significant, the path coefficient from difficulty in daily life to recovery and the multiplication of the path coefficients mediated by occupational dysfunction were considered as each the direct effect and the indirect effect. The goodness of fit in the model was determined by the posterior predictive P value (PPP). Each path coefficient was validated with median and 95% confidence interval (CI). Results. The participants comprised 98 individuals with SPMI. The factor structures of RAS, WHODAS 2.0, and CAOD were confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis to be similar to those of their original studies. Multiple regression analysis showed that the independent variables of RAS were WHODAS 2.0 and CAOD, and that of CAOD was WHODAS 2.0. The goodness of fit of the model in the BSEM was satisfactory with a PPP=0.27. The standardized path coefficients were, respectively, significant at −0.372 (95% CI: −0.586, −0.141) from “difficulty in daily life” to “recovery” as the direct effect and at −0.322 (95% CI: −0.477, −0.171) mediated by “occupational dysfunction” as the indirect effect. Conclusions. An approach for reducing not only difficulty in daily life but also occupational dysfunction may be an additional strategy of person-centered, recovery-oriented practice in SPMI.

This study proposes a method for predicting the impregnation time in the thickness direction of vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VaRTM) with flow media using 2D impregnation analysis and machine learning to reduce the computation time. We first let the machine learn the relationship between the impregnation time and the state of the flow media using a VaRTM 3D analysis. To predict the impregnation time in the thickness direction with low computation cost, a 2D analysis of the flow media portion was performed, and the impregnation time was predicted based on the 2D results and pre-trained machine learning program. For the prediction of a flat plate model with injection points that were different from the training model, the impregnation time error was 6.31%. Further, when using the machine learning model for the flat plate model, the analysis time was reduced to approximately 0.74% of the time required for the 3D analysis.

This study aims to develop the switch and crossing for a single line operation at the double track section. First, the authors design and produce the simplified structure of the switch and crossing for passenger trains which can be installed without the cutting of the existing rails. Secondly, we test the fatigue durability of the front end of the structure by rolling fatigue test device. As a result, the sufficient durability is verified under the condition that the design use period is one month and the total annual axle loads are 1.0×108 kN. Thirdly, we perform the running test of the motor car on the product installed at the test track and confirm that the motor car can pass over the structure at the maximum speed 15 km/h. Fourthly, we perform the vehicle running simulation based on FEM and confirm the running safety of the structure from the point of view of the stress generated at the components, the derailment coefficient and the decrease ratio of wheel loads. Finally, we test the fatigue durability of the specimen and conclude that the welding part of the turn rail and bed plates, the spring for turning rails and rail fastenings have a practically sufficient durability.
