In order to standardize the management of food claims in China, it is recommended that, on the basis of strengthening risk assessment and strict supervision and law enforcement, focusing on improving the relevant regulations and standards, strengthening the popularization and publicity of food safety, and forming a synergy in the governance of food safety.

3. Living photosynthetic microneedle patches for in situ oxygenation and postsurgical melanoma therapy

Abstract Surgical excision remains the principal treatment for melanoma, while tumor recurrence and delayed wound healing often occur due to the residual tumor cells and hypoxic microenvironment in the postoperative skin wounds. Herein, we present a living photosynthetic microneedle (MN) patch (namely MA/CM@MN) loaded with microalgae (MA) and cuttlefish melanin (CM) for postsurgical melanoma therapy and skin wound healing. Benefiting from the oxygenic photosynthesis of the alive MA in the MN base, the MA/CM@MN can generate oxygen under light exposure, thus facilitating skin cell proliferation and protecting cells against hypoxia-induced cell death. In addition, with CM nanoparticles embedded in the MN tips, the MA/CM@MN can be effectively heated up under near-infrared (NIR) irradiation, contributing to a strong tumor killing efficacy on melanoma cells in vitro. Further experiments demonstrate that the NIR-irradiated MA/CM@MN effectively prevents local tumor recurrence and simultaneously promotes the healing of tumor-induced wounds after incomplete tumor resection in melanoma-bearing mice, probably because the MA/CM@MN can inhibit tumor cell proliferation, stimulate tumor cell apoptosis, and mitigate tissue hypoxia in light. These results indicate that the living photosynthetic MN patch offers an effective therapeutic strategy for postoperative cancer therapy and wound healing applications. Graphical Abstract

4. Low-frequency and dual-band microwave absorption properties of novel VB-group disulphides (3R–TaS2) nanosheets

As electromagnetic technology advances and demand for electronic devices grows, concerns about electromagnetic pollution intensify. This has spurred focused research on innovative electromagnetic absorbers, particularly chalcogenides, noted for their superior absorption capabilities. In this study, we successfully synthesize 3R–TaS2 nanosheets using a straightforward calcination method for the first time. These nanosheets exhibit significant absorption capabilities in both the C-band (4–8 GHz) and Ku-band (12–18 GHz) frequency ranges. By optimizing the calcination process, the complex permittivity of TaS2 is enhanced, specifically for those synthesized at 1000 °C for 24 h. The nanosheets possess dual-band absorption properties, with a notable minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of −41.4 dB in the C-band, and an average absorption intensity exceeding 10 dB in C- and Ku-bands, in the absorbers with a thickness of 5.6 mm. Additionally, the 3R–TaS2 nanosheets are demonstrated to have an effective absorption bandwidth of 5.04 GHz (3.84–8.88 GHz) in the absorbers with thicknesses of 3.5–5.5 mm. The results highlight the multiple reflection effects in 3R–TaS2 as caused by their stacked structures, which could be promising low-frequency absorbers.

5. The impact of pandemic threats on intertemporal choices in Chinese and Americans

Abstract Intertemporal decisions are crucial to survival, especially when humans are exposed to ecological threats. However, it remains unclear whether and how pandemic threats impact intertemporal choices across cultures. We conducted two studies in two cultural contexts (N = 1180). Study 1a found that Chinese who perceived more pandemic threats showed higher temporal discounting rates (i.e., preferred immediate smaller over delayed larger rewards), and this relationship was mediated by negative emotions. Study 1b, using threat priming, revealed that Chinese participants primed with a high-threat condition (depicting a pandemic threat) showed higher temporal discounting rates compared to those primed with a low-threat condition (describing the flu). Differently, Study 2a revealed that perceived pandemic threat levels of Americans did not directly predict temporal discounting rates. Using similar threat priming, Study 2b further confirmed that Americans in the high-threat priming condition showed no significant differences in temporal discounting rates compared to those in the low-threat priming condition. The current research deepens the understanding of the cultural difference in the impact of pandemic threats on intertemporal decision-making and further informs the development of interventions that promote individual future-oriented thinking in the face of pandemics.

6. Robot-assisted resection of renal tumor in children and comparison with laparoscopic surgery

Abstract Background Robot-assisted surgery (RAS) is being performed with increasing frequency in pediatric oncology. We report our experience with RAS for renal tumors in children and compare the outcomes between RAS and laparoscopic surgery (LAS). Methods A total of 23 patients with renal tumor who underwent minimally invasive surgery (MIS) between January 2020 and December 2023 were included in the study. The inclusion criteria enrolled in this study was unilateral tumors with maximum tumor diameter less than 10 cm. Patients who had enlarged lymph node, venous thrombosis, preoperative tumor rupture, bilateral renal tumor, or extrarenal extension on imaging were deemed contraindications and excluded. Patient demographics, operative details, postoperative outcomes and follow-up were recorded. Results Among these patients, 17 underwent RAS and 6 underwent LAS. In the RAS group, the median age was 64 months (range, 9–156) with a median weight of 19.48 kg (range, 8.4–46.5); the maximum tumor diameter at operation was 55.65 mm (range, 22–88); the operation time was 188.8 min (range, 120–210), the intraoperative blood loss was 20 ml (range, 5–50), and the length of postoperative hospital stay was 4 days (range 1–9). There was no significant difference in patients’ age, weight, location, tumor size, histological pattern and operation time between the two groups (P > 0.05). The RAS group had a significantly less intraoperative blood loss (P = 0.026) and less length of postoperative stay (P = 0.01) than the LAS group. Conclusion Our initial experience suggested that RAS in pediatric renal tumor was feasible and safe, and it reduced surgical trauma and accelerate postoperative recovery for the patients. Due to the limitations of sample size and study quality, the clinical importance of these findings still needs to be further verified.

Objective: Children and pregnant and lactating women, as two special groups, could face certain risks from blindly consuming various foods. To explore the proportion of suitability labeling for these two groups in health food products, analyze the reasons, and propose suggestions from multiple perspectives to improve the safety of health food consumption for these special groups. Methods: The data on health food products with top 10 function claim registrations were retrieved from the Special Food Information Query Platform of the State Administration for Market Regulation and Administration spanning from June 1996 to December 2022. The study was conducted from functional claims, approval timelines, and ingredient compositions. Chi-square tests and regression analyses were performed using SPSS Statistics 26 software to scrutinize the composition of special populations in relation to inappropriate labeling. Results: Special populations accounted for over 30% of inappropriate labeling in the ten product categories. We herein reported a sustainable synthesis of 3,3-disubstituted oxindoles via a Michael-type reaction based on the CuBr-catalysed capture of carboxylic oxonium ylides with isatylidene malononitrile. The reaction is characterized by a high atom economy and low economic constraints. The catalyst CuBr could be conveniently recyclized. The products of the reaction were found to be inhibitory against Na ion channels. We expect the reaction to shed the light on synthesis of biologically interesting molecules directed by principles of green chemistry.

Abstract Background Housing has been associated with dementia risk and disability, but associations of housing with differential patterns of neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) among dementia-free older adults remain to be explored. The present study sought to explore the contribution of housing status on NPS and subsyndromes associated with cognitive dysfunction in community-dwelling dementia-free elderly in Singapore. Methods A total of 839 dementia-free elderly from the Epidemiology of Dementia in Singapore (EDIS) study aged ≥ 60 were enrolled in the current study. All participants underwent clinical, cognitive, and neuropsychiatric inventory (NPI) assessments. The housing status was divided into three categories according to housing type. Cognitive function was measured by a comprehensive neuropsychological battery. The NPS were assessed using 12-term NPI and were grouped into four clinical subsyndromes: psychosis, hyperactivity, affective, and apathy. Associations of housing with composite and domain-specific Z-scores, as well as NPI scores, were assessed using generalized linear models (GLM). Binary logistic regression models analysed the association of housing with the presence of NPS and significant NPS (NPI total scores ≥ 4). Abstract Background Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is highly prevalent in individuals with schizophrenia (SZ), leading to negative consequences like premature mortality. Gut dysbiosis, which refers to an imbalance of the microbiota, and chronic inflammation are associated with both SZ and MetS. However, the relationship between gut dysbiosis, host immunological dysfunction, and SZ comorbid with MetS (SZ-MetS) remains unclear. This study aims to explore alterations in gut microbiota and their correlation with immune dysfunction in SZ-MetS, offering new insights into its pathogenesis. Methods and results We enrolled 114 Chinese patients with SZ-MetS and 111 age-matched healthy controls from Zhejiang, China, to investigate fecal microbiota using Illumina MiSeq sequencing targeting 16 S rRNA gene V3-V4 hypervariable regions. Host immune responses were assessed using the Bio-Plex Pro Human Cytokine 27-Plex Assay to examine cytokine profiles. In SZ-MetS, we observed decreased bacterial α-diversity and significant differences in β-diversity. LEfSe analysis identified enriched acetate-producing genera (Megamonas and Lactobacillus), and decreased butyrate-producing bacteria (Subdoligranulum, and Faecalibacterium) in SZ-MetS. These altered genera correlated with body mass index, the severity of symptoms (as measured by the Scale for Assessment of Positive Symptoms and Scale for Assessment of Negative Symptoms), and triglyceride levels. Altered bacterial metabolic pathways related to lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis, lipid metabolism, and various amino acid metabolism were also found. Additionally, SZ-MetS exhibited immunological dysfunction with increased pro-inflammatory cytokines, which correlated with the differential genera. Conclusion These findings suggested that gut microbiota dysbiosis and immune dysfunction play a vital role in SZ-MetS development, highlighting potential therapeutic approaches targeting the gut microbiota. While these therapies show promise, further mechanistic studies are needed to fully understand their efficacy and safety before clinical implementation.

Abstract Background Microtubule polymerization is usually considered as the upstream of apoptotic cell death induced by taxanes, but recently published studies provide more insights into the mechanisms responsible for the antineoplastic effect of taxanes. In this study, we figure out the role of the stress-related PERK/eIF2α axis in tumor cell death upon taxane treatment along with paclitaxel resistance. Methods Utilizing immunoblot assay, the activation status of PERK-eIF2α signaling was detected in a panel of cancer cell lines after the treatment of taxanes. The causal role of PERK-eIF2α signaling in the cancer cell apoptosis induced by taxanes was examined via pharmacological and genetic inhibitions of PERK. The relationship between microtubule polymerization and PERK-eIF2α activation was explored by immunofluorescent and immunoblotting assays. Eventaually, the combined therapeutic effect of paclitaxel (PTX) and CCT020312, a PERK agonist, was investigated in PTX-resistant breast cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Results PERK-eIF2α axis was dramatically activated by taxanes in several cancer cell types. Pharmacological or genetic inhibition of PERK efficiently impaired taxane-induced apoptotic cell death, independent of the cellular microtubule polymerization status. Moreover, PTX was able to activate the PERK/eIF2α axis in a very low concentration without triggering microtubule polymerization. In PTX-resistant breast cancer cells, the PERK/eIF2α axis was attenuated in comparison with the PTX-sensitive counterparts. Reactivation of the PERK/eIF2α axis in the PTX-resistant breast cancer cells with PERK agonist sensitized them to PTX in vitro. Combination treatment of the xenografted PTX-resistant breast tumors with PERK agonist and PTX validated the synergic effect of PTX and PERK activation in vivo. Conclusion Activation of the PERK/eIF2α axis is a pivotal prerequisite of taxanes to initiate cancer cell apoptosis, which is independent of the well-known microtubule polymerization-dependent manner. Simultaneous activation of PERK-eIF2α signaling would be a promising therapeutic strategy to overcome PTX resistance in breast cancer or other cancers.

12. Preparation of a novel aqueous vermiculite dispersion fire extinguishing agent to inhibit lithium-ion battery fires

A novel modified aqueous vermiculite dispersion (MVD) extinguishing agent for lithium-ion battery (LIB) fires was developed by dispersing a modified vermiculite (VMT) composite powder in an aqueous solution. To provide the desired MgAl-LDH/VMT composite, abundant MgAl-layered double hydroxide (MgAl-LDH) platelets were grown on the VMT layers via a hydrothermal method. Compared to the original VMT, which exhibited a heat absorption enthalpy of 712 mJ/mg, the MgAl-LDH/VMT composite powder had a significantly increased value of 1795 mJ/mg, indicating that MgAl-LDH/VMT absorbed a greater amount of heat. Then, the extinguishing performance of the MVD was thoroughly investigated for 173 Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery fires. Considering the resulting extinguishing time, cooling, and toxicity-suppressing effects, it was deduced that, compared with water mist, the MVD had a superior performance to water mist. Notably, the MVD extinguished the fire within 1 s, and after release, the temperatures around and above the safety vent and the negative tab were lower than those when water mist was employed. The emission of some harmful gases was also dramatically reduced compared to the cast of water mist.

The influence of gut microbiota on transient receptor potential (TRP) channels has been identified as an important element in the development of gastrointestinal conditions, yet its involvement in cancer progression is not as thoroughly understood. This review explores the multifaceted roles of TRP channels in oncogenesis and emphasizes their significance in cancer progression and therapeutic outcomes. Critical focus was placed on the influence of traditional medicines, such as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) related aromatic medicines, on TRP channel functions. Moreover, we explored the interplay between the gut microbiota and TRP channels in cancer signaling, highlighting the therapeutic potential of targeting this axis in cancer treatment. The impact of current therapies on TRP channel function was examined, demonstrating the need for a comprehensive understanding of how different modalities affect TRP channels in cancer. Technological advancements, including artificial intelligence (AI) tools and computer-aided drug development (CADD), have been discussed in the context of leveraging TRP channels for innovative cancer therapies. Future directions emphasize the potential applications of TRP channel research in advancing cancer treatment and enhancing patients' well-being.

14. De novo design of mIDH1 inhibitors by integrating deep learning and molecular modeling

BackgroundMutations in the IDH1 gene have been shown to be an important driver in the development of acute myeloid leukemia, gliomas and certain solid tumors, which is a promising target for cancer therapy.MethodsBidirectional recurrent neural network (BRNN) and scaffold hopping methods were used to generate new compounds, which were evaluated by principal components analysis, quantitative estimate of drug-likeness, synthetic accessibility analysis and molecular docking. ADME prediction, molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations were used to screen candidate compounds and assess their binding affinity and binding stability with mutant IDH1 (mIDH1).ResultsBRNN and scaffold hopping methods generated 3890 and 3680 new compounds, respectively. The molecules generated by the BRNN performed better in terms of molecular diversity, druggability, synthetic accessibility and docking score. From the 3890 compounds generated by the BRNN model, 10 structurally diverse drug candidates with great docking score were preserved. Molecular dynamics simulations showed that the RMSD of the four systems, M1, M2, M3 and M6, remained stable, with local flexibility and compactness similar to the positive drug. The binding free energy results indicated that compound M1 exhibited the best binding properties in all energy aspects and was the best candidate molecule among the 10 compounds.ConclusionIn present study, compounds M1, M2, M3 and M6 generated by BRNN exhibited optimal binding properties. This study is the first attempt to use deep learning to design mIDH1 inhibitors, which provides theoretical guidance for the design of mIDH1 inhibitors.

15. Diversity of carbon cycle-linked phyllosphere microorganisms: A key driver of CO2 flux in macrophyte-dominated aquatic systems

Planktonic microorganisms have been recognized as important components in biogeochemical cycling in lakes. However, research into the impact of phyllosphere microorganisms, particularly those involved in carbon cycling, on CO2 fluxes in macrophyte-dominated lakes within the context of global environmental changes remains scarce. Here, by employing high-throughput sequencing techniques, we experimentally tested how nutrient enrichment, top-down effects of fish and increases in dissolved organic carbon (DOC) affect CO2 exchange flux at the water-air interface by altering the community structure and functioning of phyllosphere bacteria on macrophytes. We found that our mesocosm ecosystems exhibited a net absorption of CO2, but nutrient enrichment significantly decreased the absorption ability. Mantel tests and multiple regression modeling also showed that eutrophication-associated parameters (total nitrogen, total phosphorus and ammonium nitrogen), pH, and extinction coefficient were the key drivers influencing abundance of phyllosphere functional microorganisms. In addition, these experimental treatments significantly altered the composition, diversity and co-occurrence networks of carbon cycling-associated phyllosphere microorganisms, which impacted the CO2 flux. Structural equation models and linear regression further showed that the Shannon Index of phyllosphere functional microorganisms related to carbon cycling (rather than plant volume inhabited - PVI) had a significant positive impact on CO2 fixation. This means that environmental changes—especially eutrophication—may hinder carbon sequestration by decreasing the diversity of phyllosphere microorganisms rather than reducing the abundance of submerged macrophytes. This study increases our understanding of carbon cycling processes in aquatic environments from a management perspective by emphasizing the importance of protecting the diversity of phyllosphere microorganisms in macrophyte-dominated lakes.

Abstract Flexible electronic devices extended abilities of humans to perceive their environment conveniently and comfortably. Among them, flexible magnetic field sensors are crucial to detect changes in the external magnetic field. State‐of‐the‐art flexible magnetoelectronics do not exhibit low detection limit and large working range simultaneously, which limits their application potential. Herein, a flexible magnetic field sensor possessing a low detection limit of 22 nT and wide sensing range from 22 nT up to 400 mT is reported. With the detection range of seven orders of magnitude in magnetic field sensor constitutes at least one order of magnitude improvement over current flexible magnetic field sensor technologies. The sensor is designed as a cantilever beam structure accommodating a flexible permanent magnetic composite and an amorphous magnetic wire enabling sensitivity to low magnetic fields. To detect high fields, the anisotropy of the giant magnetoimpedance effect of amorphous magnetic wires to the magnetic field direction is explored. Benefiting from mechanical flexibility of sensor and its broad detection range, its application potential for smart wearables targeting geomagnetic navigation, touchless interactivity, rehabilitation appliances, and safety interfaces providing warnings of exposure to high magnetic fields are explored.

Abstract The discovery of selective Nav1.7 inhibitors is a promising approach for developing anti-nociceptive drugs. In this study, we present a novel oxindole-based readily accessible library (OREAL), which is characterized by readily accessibility, unique chemical space, ideal drug-like properties, and structural diversity. We used a scaffold-based approach to screen the OREAL and discovered compound C4 as a potent Nav1.7 inhibitor. The bioactivity characterization of C4 reveals that it is a selective Nav1.7 inhibitor and effectively reverses Paclitaxel-induced neuropathic pain (PINP) in rodent models. Preliminary toxicology study shows C4 is negative to hERG. The consistent results of molecular docking and molecular simulations further support the reasonability of the in-silico screening and show the insight of the binding mode of C4. Our discovery of C4 paves the way for pushing the Nav1.7-based anti-nociceptive drugs forward to the clinic.

23. Population pharmacokinetics and dose optimization of magnesium sulfate in Chinese preeclampsia population

Abstract Objective To establish the population pharmacokinetics (PPK) of magnesium sulfate (MgSO4)in women with preeclampsia (PE), and to determine the key covariates having an effect in magnesium pharmacokinetics in Chinese PE. Methods Pregnant women with PE prescribed MgSO4 were enrolled in this prospective study from April 2021 to April 2023. On the initial day of administration, the patients were administered a loading dose of 5 g in conjunction with 10 g of magnesium sulfate as a maintenance dose. On the second day, only the maintenance dose was administration, and maternal blood samples were taken at 0, 4, 5, and 12 h after the second day’s 10 g maintenance dose. The software Phoenix was used to estimate PPK parameters of MgSO4, such as clearance (CL) and volume of distribution (V), and to model PPK models with patient demographic, clinical, and laboratory covariates. Results A total of 199 blood samples were collected from 51 women with PE and PPK profiles were analyzed. The PPK of MgSO4 is consistent with to a one-compartment model. The base model adequately described the maternal serum magnesium concentrations after magnesium administration. The population parameter estimates were as follows: CL was 2.98 L/h, V was 25.07 L. The model predictions changed significantly with covariates (BMI, creatinine clearance, and furosemide). Furosemide statistically influences V. The creatinine clearance, BMI and furosemide jointly affects CL. Monte Carlo simulation results showed that a loading dose combined with a maintenance dose would need to be administered daily to achieve the therapeutic blood magnesium concentrations. For the non-furosemide group, the optimal dosing regimen was a 5 g loading dose combined with a 10 g maintenance dose of MgSO4. For the furosemide group, the optimal dosing regimen was a 2.5 g loading dose combined with a 10 g maintenance dose of MgSO4. Conclusions The magnesium PPK model was successfully developed and evaluated in Chinese preeclampsia population, and the dose optimization of MgSO4 was completed through Monte Carlo simulation.

Abstract Objective To comprehensively evaluate the effect of low birth weight on premature ovarian insufficiency. Methods We performed a systematic review of the literature by searching MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science, Scopus, Wanfang and CNKI up to August 2023. All cohort and case-control studies that included birth weight as an exposure and premature ovarian insufficiency as an outcome were included in the analysis. Data were combined using inverse-variance weighted meta-analysis with fixed and random effects models and between-study heterogeneity evaluated. We evaluated risk of bias using the Newcastle Ottawa Scale and using Egger’s method to test publication bias. All statistical analyses were performed with the use of R software. Results Five articles were included in the review. A total of 2,248,594 women were included, including 21,813 (1%) cases of premature ovarian insufficiency, 150,743 cases of low birth weight, and 220,703 cases of macrosomia. We found strong evidence that changed the results of the previous review that low birth weight is associated with an increased risk of premature ovarian insufficiency (OR = 1.15, 95%CI 1.09–1.22) in adulthood compared with normal birth weight. No effect of macrosomia on premature ovarian insufficiency was found. Conclusions Our meta-analysis showed strong evidence of an association between low birth weight and premature ovarian insufficiency. We should reduce the occurrence of low birth weight by various methods to avoid the occurrence of premature ovarian insufficiency.

Green hydrogen (H2) produced by renewable energy powered alkaline water electrolysis is a promising alternative to fossil fuels due to its high energy density with zero-carbon emissions. However, efficient and economic H2 production by alkaline water electrolysis is hindered by the sluggish hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Therefore, it is imperative to design and fabricate high-active and low-cost non-precious metal catalysts to improve the HER and OER performance, which affects the energy efficiency of alkaline water electrolysis. Ni3S2 with the heazlewoodite structure is a potential electrocatalyst with near-metal conductivity due to the Ni–Ni metal network. Here, the review comprehensively presents the recent progress of Ni3S2-based electrocatalysts for alkaline water electrocatalysis. Herein, the HER and OER mechanisms, performance evaluation criteria, preparation methods, and strategies for performance improvement of Ni3S2-based electrocatalysts are discussed. The challenges and perspectives are also analyzed.

27. Design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of evodiamine-indolequinone hybrids as novel NQO1 agonists against non-small cell lung cancer

NQO1 is a FAD containing NAD(P)H-dependent oxidoreductase that catalyzes the reduction of quinones and related substrates, which plays an important role in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Based on the indolequinone structure from 5-methoxy-2-methylindole, the indolequinone of NQO1 agonists was first coupled with amino-evodiamine derivatives by esterification reaction, and sixteen new compounds targeting NQO1 were developed. Among them, compounds 11b and 12d (IC50 = 2.72 or 3.66 µM, respectively) were showed better activity by cytotoxicity assay than the reference drug EVO (IC50 = 19.65 µM). Furthermore, the results of flow cytometry analysis showed that compounds 11b and 12d promoted apoptosis in A549 cells, blocked the cell cycle to the G2/M stage and caused a burst of reactive oxygen species. Western blotting experiments revealed that compounds 11b and 12d, after 24 h of treatment in A549 cells, downregulate the expression of Keap1 while upregulating the expression of Nrf2, NQO1, and HO-1. This suggests that compounds 11b and 12d increase cellular antioxidant capacity by regulating the Keap1/Nrf2/NQO1 antioxidant pathway. In vivo anti-tumor experiments showed that the reference drugs EVO (TGI = 15.94 %) and 5-Fu (TGI = 27.54 %) inhibited the proliferation of tumor tissue, while compound 11b could better inhibit the proliferation of tumor tissue (TGI = 39.13 %). In conclusion, our research results suggest that compounds 11b and 12d are potent agonism of the NQO1 signaling pathway and provide a potential opportunity to improve the treatment of NSCLC.

Nanozyme is a kind of enzyme-like catalytic nanomaterials with unique physical and chemical properties, high stability, structural diversity, adjustable catalytic activity, low cost, easy storage and so on. In addition, nanozymes also have excellent broad-spectrum antibacterial properties and good biocompatibility, showing broad application prospects in the field of antibacterial. In this paper, we reviewed the research progress of antibacterial application of nanozymes. At first, the antibacterial mechanism of nanozymes was summarized, and then the application of nanozymes in antibacterial was introduced. Finally, the challenges of the application of antibacterial nanozymes were discussed, and the development prospect of antibacterial nanozymes was clarified.

IntroductionArtificial intelligence is already widely utilized in gastroenterology. This study aims to comprehensively evaluate the research hotspots and development trends within the field of AI in gastroenterology by employing bibliometric techniques to scrutinize geographical distribution, authorship, affiliated institutions, keyword usage, references, and other pertinent data contained within relevant publications.MethodsThis investigation compiled all pertinent publications related to artificial intelligence in the context of gastrointestinal polyps and digestive endoscopy from 2003 to 2023 within the Web of Science Core Collection database. Furthermore, the study harnessed the tools CiteSpace, VOSviewer, GraphPad Prism and Scimago Graphica for visual data analysis. The study retrieved a total of 2,394 documents in the field of AI in digestive endoscopy and 628 documents specifically related to AI in digestive tract polyps.ResultsThe United States and China are the primary contributors to research in both fields. Since 2019, studies on AI for digestive tract polyps have constituted approximately 25% of the total AI digestive endoscopy studies annually. Six of the top 10 most-cited studies in AI digestive endoscopy also rank among the top 10 most-cited studies in AI for gastrointestinal polyps. Additionally, the number of studies on AI-assisted polyp segmentation is growing the fastest, with significant increases in AI-assisted polyp diagnosis and real-time systems beginning after 2020.DiscussionThe application of AI in gastroenterology has garnered increasing attention. As theoretical advancements in AI for gastroenterology have progressed, real-time diagnosis and detection of gastrointestinal diseases have become feasible in recent years, highlighting the promising potential of AI in this field.

The fire plume behavior of over-ventilated compartment fire is believed to be related with the façade fire. When the fire plume is reattached to the façade wall, the combustible materials over building wall are potential to be ignited soon. To investigate the window spill fire plume trajectory of over-ventilated intermediate-scale compartment fires, a modeling of fire plume trajectory is set up by using the energy conservation equation and spread theory. The temperature history of over-ventilated compartment fire is conducted by using a 1.35 m (L) × 1.35 m (H) × 1.35 m (W) compartment with window opening aspect varied from 1.12 to 4.44 and HRR differed from 200 kW to 1000 kW. The temperature of fire plume is recorded by the thermocouple mesh and the IR camera. It shows that the modelling theory could be used to predict the shape of fire plume. It agrees well with experimental result. The heat release rate of compartment fire is found to impact little influence on the shape of fire plume regarding a fixed opening dimension. It could provide a reasonable method for fire plume trajectory prediction of the intermediate-scale enclosure fire under an over-ventilated condition.

Despite China's building into a leading sporting nation and sport-tourism integration high-quality development strategy in the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, existing tourism studies seldom concern sport-tourism integration, especially their spatial hot spots and evolutional trend based on geospatial big data. This study aims to probe into the spatiality and the underlying mechanism of sport tourism through internet attention data in 2015, 2018, and 2021 by social network analysis, with a specific focus on aero-sports tourism. Shaanxi Province is chosen as the study site given its advantages of rich aero-sports tourism resources and various aero-sports modes (e.g., sky diving, paragliding, etc.). The results are concluded: (1) At the provincial scale, the aero-sports tourism internet attention shows a pattern of “strong in the middle and weak in the north and south”. (2) At the regional scale, the sub-group clusters within the three specific regions (Shanbei, Guanzhong, and Shannan) of Shaanxi Province turn to be inter-regional clusters. Guanzhong region, especially with Xi'an as the core, is dominant in connecting its peripheral area. Since 2016, the radiation effects of the Guanzhong Region have shown a homogeneous trend of yearly growth and effect strengthening, yet become loosely connected with a heterogeneous trend in 2021 due to the COVID-19 epidemic. (3) At the city scale, the core area of aero-sports tourism internet attention expanded from Xi'an and Xianyang to Yulin and Baoji from 2015 to 2021, resulting from urban economic strength and aviation flight camp club development. (4) The number of general aviation manufacturers, tourist attendance, and tourism revenue significantly affect aero-sports tourism internet attention.

Bruising reduces the edibility and marketability of fresh apples, inevitably causing economic losses for the apple industry. However, bruises lack obvious visual symptoms, which makes it challenging to detect them using imaging techniques with uniform or diffuse illumination. This study employed the structured light imaging (SLI) technique to detect apple bruises. First, the grayscale reflection images were captured under phase-shifted sinusoidal illumination at three different wavelengths (600, 650, and 700 nm) and six different spatial frequencies (0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, 0.25, and 0.30 cycles mm−1). Next, the grayscale reflectance images were demodulated to produce direct component (DC) images representing uniform diffuse illumination and amplitude component (AC) images revealing bruises. Then, by quantifying the contrast between bruised regions and sound regions in all AC images, it was found that bruises exhibited the optimal contrast when subjected to sinusoidal illumination at a wavelength of 700 nm and a spatial frequency of 0.25 mm−1. In the AC image with optimal contrast, the developed h-domes segmentation algorithm to accurately segment the location and range of the bruised regions. Moreover, the algorithm successfully accomplished the task of segmenting central bruised regions while addressing the challenge of segmenting edge bruised regions complicated by vignetting. The average Intersection over Union (IoU) values for the three types of bruises were 0.9422, 0.9231, and 0.9183, respectively. This result demonstrated that the combination of SLI and the h-domes segmentation algorithm was a viable approach for the effective detection of fresh apple bruises.

Abstract Endowing flexible and adaptable fiber devices with light-emitting capabilities has the potential to revolutionize the current design philosophy of intelligent, wearable interactive devices. However, significant challenges remain in developing fiber devices when it comes to achieving uniform and customizable light effects while utilizing lightweight hardware. Here, we introduce a mass-produced, wearable, and interactive photochromic fiber that provides uniform multicolored light control. We designed independent waveguides inside the fiber to maintain total internal reflection of light as it traverses the fiber. The impact of excessive light leakage on the overall illuminance can be reduced by utilizing the saturable absorption effect of fluorescent materials to ensure light emission uniformity along the transmission direction. In addition, we coupled various fluorescent composite materials inside the fiber to achieve artificially controllable spectral radiation of multiple color systems in a single fiber. We prepared fibers on mass-produced kilometer-long using the thermal drawing method. The fibers can be directly integrated into daily wearable devices or clothing in various patterns and combined with other signal input components to control and display patterns as needed. This work provides a new perspective and inspiration to the existing field of fiber display interaction, paving the way for future human–machine integration.

The Moon-based Earth Radiation budget Detector (MERD) is an instrument designed to measure the Earth-reflected Solar Radiation (ERSR) and the Earth thermal radiation from the Moon as part of future mission of China's Chang'e project. The accuracy of its calibration technology directly determines the measurement precision. For traceability to International System of Units (SI) and improve the calibration accuracy in the ERSR wave band, a vacuum shortwave radiance calibration system is built, which consists of an in-situ traceable Electrical Substitution Transfer Radiometer (ESTR) and a Shortwave Calibration Light Source (SWCLS). Where, SWCLS is designed with a electrically variable slit and a 12-hole narrow-band filter wheel to achieve continuous broad-spectrum radiance output and discrete narrow-spectrum band tuning, respectively. Additionally, wide dynamic range output is from the introduction of elliptic land spherical mirrors for bilateral highly efficient focusing structure. This paper presents the mathematical process of shortwave calibration and focuses on the design and analysis of SWCLS based on high stability, radiance and uniformity. Results show that light source stability is 0.05922%/h, radiance uniformity is 99.49% at the calibration distance of 300 mm, the range of output radiant brightness in the spectral range 0.3–2.5 μm is 0.03–1272.20 W/m2/sr.

As one of the main active ingredients of garlic, garlic polysaccharide has many biological activities, such as enhancing immunity, antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, hepatoprotective, hypolipidemic, hypoglycemic, etc., and has a broad application prospect. The extraction methods of garlic polysaccharides are most common by hot water method, enzyme method and ultrasound-assisted method. It is found by structural determination that garlic polysaccharide is a heteropolysaccharide composed of fructose, glucose, galactose, mannose, galacturonic acid, etc. Chemical modifications such as acetylation, selenization and phosphorylation can increase the antioxidant and other biological activities of garlic polysaccharide. This paper systematically summarizes the current research status of garlic polysaccharides from the perspectives of extraction, structure determination, chemical modification and bioactivity of garlic polysaccharides, and in the future, attention should be paid to the conformational relationship between polysaccharide structure and bioactivity, and the efficacy mechanism of garlic polysaccharides should be explored in depth, with a view to providing theoretical references for the development and utilization of garlic polysaccharides as functional products.

50. Triglyceride-glucose body mass index predicts prognosis in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction

Abstract Triglyceride glycemic-body mass index (TyG-BMI) is a simple and reliable surrogate for insulin resistance (IR). However, it is still unclear if TyG-BMI has any predictive value in patients having percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The purpose of this study was to examine the TyG-BMI index's prognostic significance and predictive power in patients with STEMI. The study comprised a total of 2648 consecutive STEMI patients who underwent PCI. The primary endpoint was the occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), defined as the combination of all-cause death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal stroke, and coronary revascularization. The TyG-BMI index was formulated as ln [fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) × fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL)/2] × BMI. 193 patients in all experienced MACE over a median follow-up of 14.7 months. There was a statistically significant difference between the Kaplan–Meier survival curves for the TyG-BMI index tertiles (log-rank test, p = 0.019) for the cumulative incidence of MACE. The adjusted HRs for the incidence of MACE in the middle and highest quartiles of the TyG-BMI index compared with the lowest quartile were 1.37 (95% CI 0.92, 2.03) and 1.53 (95% CI 1.02, 2.29), respectively, in the fully adjusted Cox regression model. At six months, one year, and three years, the TyG-BMI area under the curve (AUC) for predicting MACE was 0.691, 0.666, and 0.637, respectively. Additionally, adding the TyG-BMI index to the risk prediction model enhanced outcome prediction. In STEMI patients undergoing PCI, TyG-BMI was independently linked to MACE. TyG-BMI could be a simple and solid way to assess MACE risk and prognosis.
