Long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) are a class of RNA molecules with nucleic acid lengths ranging from 200 bp to 100 kb that cannot code for proteins, which are diverse and widely expressed in both animals and plants. Scholars have found that lncRNAs can regulate human physiological processes at the gene and protein levels, mainly through the regulation of epigenetic, transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels of genes and proteins, as well as in the immune response by regulating the expression of immune cells and inflammatory factors, and thus participate in the occurrence and development of a variety of diseases. From the downstream targets of lncRNAs, we summarize the new research progress of lncRNA mechanisms other than miRNA sponges in recent years, aiming to provide new ideas and directions for the study of lncRNA mechanisms.

Abstract Soft on‐skin electrodes play an important role in wearable technologies, requiring attributes such as wearing comfort, high conductivity, and gas permeability. However, conventional fabrication methods often compromise simplicity, cost‐effectiveness, or mechanical resilience. In this study, a mechanically robust and gas‐permeable on‐skin electrode is presented that incorporates Flash Graphene (FG) integrated with a bioinspired armor design. FG, synthesized through Flash Joule Heating process, offers a small‐sized and turbostratic arrangement that is ideal for the assembly of a conductive network with nanopore structures. Screen‐printing is used to embed the FG assembly into the framework of polypropylene melt‐blown nonwoven fabrics (PPMF), forming a soft on‐skin electrode with low sheet resistance (125.2 ± 4.7 Ω/□) and high gas permeability (≈10.08 mg cm⁻2 h⁻¹). The “armor” framework ensures enduring mechanical stability through adhesion, washability, and 10,000 cycles of mechanical contact friction tests. Demonstrating capabilities in electrocardiogram (ECG) and electromyogram (EMG) monitoring, along with serving as a self‐powered triboelectric sensor, the FG/PPMF electrode holds promise for scalable, high‐performance flexible sensing applications, thereby enriching the landscape of integrated wearable technologies.

Background: Dihydroartemisinin (DHA), a derivative of Artemisia annua, has been shown to possess anti-inflammatory properties. Besides, Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) plays a crucial role in maintaining liver homeostasis. Methods: This study used Yap1Flox/Flox, Albumin-Cre mice with hepatocyte-specific Yap1 knockout (referred to as Yap1LKO) and their control mice (Yap1Flox/Flox, referred to as Yap1Flox). The effect of Yap1 on lipid metabolism homeostasis was investigated through non-targeted metabolomic analysis of mouse liver. Subsequently, DHA was administered to Yap1LKO mice to assess its potential as a treatment. Liver pathology was evaluated via H&E staining, and the levels of AST, ALT, and TG were quantified using biochemical assays. The contents of arachidonic acid (AA), prostaglandin E1 (PGE1), and leukotrienes (LT) in the liver were measured using ELISA, while the protein expressions of PLIN2, 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX), and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) were analyzed through IHC staining. Results: Hepatocyte-specific Yap1 knockout activated the AA metabolic pathway, resulting in increased elevated levels of AA, PGE1, and LT levels, along with inflammatory cytokine infiltration. DHA mitigated the elevation of metabolites such as PGE1 and LT caused by the AA metabolic pathway activation by down-regulating the levels of COX-2 and 5-LOX in the liver of Yap1LKO mice. Moreover, it alleviated the accumulation of lipid vacuoles and reduced triglyceride (TG) and perilipin-2 (PLIN2) levels in the liver of Yap1LKO mice. Conclusions: Excessively low YAP1 expression induces liver inflammation and disturbances in lipid metabolism, whereas DHA modulated AA metabolism and mitigated liver inflammation by inhibiting the activation of 5-LOX and COX-2.

Patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) coexisting with both Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) and pancytopenia are exceptionally rare. There is no study on the treatment of such patients. We presented a case of AQP4-IgG seropositive refractory NMOSD patient combined with SS and pancytopenia with significant response to inebilizumab. In 2017 the 49-year-old female patient was diagnosed with SS and pancytopenia without any treatment. In August 2022, she had a sudden onset of lower limbs weakness, manifested as inability to walk, accompanied by urinary incontinence. After receiving methylprednisolone and cyclophosphamide, she regained the ability to walk. In February 2023, she suffered from weakness of both lower limbs again and paralyzed in bed, accompanied by retention of urine and stool, and loss of vision in both eyes. After receiving methylprednisolone and three plasmapheresis, the condition did not further worsen, but there was no remission. In March 2023, the patient was admitted to our hospital and was formally diagnosed with AQP4-IgG seropositive NMOSD combined with SS and pancytopenia. After receiving two 300 mg injections of inebilizumab, not only the symptoms of NMOSD improved significantly, but also the symptoms of concurrent SS and pancytopenia. In the cases of AQP4-IgG seropositive NMOSD who have recurrent episodes and are comorbid with other autoimmune disorders, inebilizumab may be a good choice.

As one of the earliest discovered lncRNA molecules, lncRNA H19 is usually expressed in large quantities during embryonic development and is involved in cell differentiation and tissue formation. In recent years, the role of lncRNA H19 in tumors has been gradually recognized. Increasing evidence suggests that its aberrant expression is closely related to cancer development. LncRNA H19 as an oncogene not only promotes the growth, proliferation, invasion and metastasis of many tumors, but also develops resistance to treatment, affecting patients' prognosis and survival. Therefore, in this review, we summarise the extensive research on the involvement of lncRNA H19 in tumor progression and discuss how lncRNA H19, as a key target gene, affects tumor sensitivity to radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy by participating in multiple cellular processes and regulating multiple signaling pathways, which provides a promising prospect for further research into the treatment of cancer.

Abstract Background Aedes albopictus is an invasive vector of serious Aedes-borne diseases of global concern. Habitat management remains a critical factor for establishing a cost-effective systematic strategy for sustainable vector control. However, the community-based characteristics of Ae. albopictus habitats in complex urbanization ecosystems are still not well understood. Methods A large-scale investigation of aquatic habitats, involving 12 sites selected as representative of four land use categories at three urbanization levels, was performed in Guangzhou, China during 2015–2017. The characteristics and dynamics of these Ae. albopictus habitats were assessed using habitat-type composition, habitat preference, diversity indexes and the Route index (RI), and the temporal patterns of these indexes were evaluated by locally weighted scatterplot smoothing models. The associations of RI with urbanization levels, land use categories and climatic variables were inferred using generalized additive mixed models. Results A total of 1994 potential habitats and 474 Ae. albopictus-positive habitats were inspected. The majority of these habitats were container-type habitats, with Ae. albopictus showing a particularly higher habitat preference for plastic containers, metal containers and ceramic vessels. Unexpectedly, some non-container-type habitats, especially ornamental ponds and surface water, were found to have fairly high Ae. albopictus positivity rates. Regarding habitats, the land use category residential and rural in Jiangpu (Conghua District, Guangzhou) had the highest number of Ae. albopictus habitats with the highest positive rates. The type diversity of total habitats (H-total) showed a quick increase from February to April and peaked in April, while the H-total of positive habitats (H-positive) and RIs peaked in May. RIs mainly increased with the monthly average daily mean temperature and monthly cumulative rainfall. We also observed the accumulation of diapause eggs in the winter and diapause termination in the following March. Conclusions Ecological heterogeneity of habitat preferences of Ae. albopictus was demonstrated in four land use categories at three urbanization levels. The results reveal diversified habitat-type compositions and significant seasonal variations, indicating an ongoing adaptation of Ae. albopictus to the urbanization ecosystem. H-positivity and RIs were inferred as affected by climatic variables and diapause behavior of Ae. albopictus, suggesting that an effective control of overwintering diapause eggs is crucial. Our findings lay a foundation for establishing a stratified systematic management strategy of Ae. albopictus habitats in cities that is expected to complement and improve community-based interventions and sustainable vector management. The production of N-linked glycoproteins in genetically engineered Escherichia coli holds significant potential for reducing costs, streamlining bioprocesses, and enhancing customization. However, the construction of a stable and low-cost microbial cell factory for the efficient production of humanized N-glycosylated recombinant proteins remains a formidable challenge. In this study, we developed a glyco-engineered E. coli chassis to produce N-glycosylated proteins with the human-like glycan Gal-β-1,4-GlcNAc-β-1,3-Gal-β-1,3-GlcNAc-, containing the human glycoform Gal-β-1,4-GlcNAc-β-1,3-. Our initial efforts were to replace various loci in the genome of the E. coli XL1-Blue strain with oligosaccharyltransferase PglB and the glycosyltransferases LsgCDEF to construct the E. coli chassis. In addition, we systematically optimized the promoter regions in the genome to regulate transcription levels. Subsequently, utilizing a plasmid carrying the target protein, we have successfully obtained N-glycosylated proteins with 100% tetrasaccharide modification at a yield of approximately 320 mg/L. Furthermore, we constructed the metabolic pathway for sialylation using a plasmid containing a dual-expression cassette of the target protein and CMP-sialic acid synthesis in the tetrasaccharide chassis cell, resulting in a 40% efficiency of terminal α-2,3- sialylation and a production of 65 mg/L of homogeneously sialylated glycoproteins in flasks. Our findings pave the way for further exploration of producing different linkages (α-2,3/α-2,6/α-2,8) of sialylated human-like N-glycoproteins in the periplasm of the plug-and-play E. coli chassis, laying a strong foundation for industrial-scale production.

Liver cancer is the third leading of tumor death, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are yielding much for sufferers to hope for patients, but only some patients with advanced liver tumor respond. Recent research showed that tumor microenvironment (TME) is critical for the effectiveness of ICIs in advanced liver tumor. Meanwhile, metabolic reprogramming of liver tumor leads to immunosuppression in TME. These suggest that regulating the abnormal metabolism of liver tumor cells and firing up TME to turn “cold tumor” into “hot tumor” are potential strategies to improve the therapeutic effect of ICIs in liver tumor. Previous studies have found that YAP1 is a potential target to improve the efficacy of anti-PD-1 in HCC. Here, we review that YAP1 promotes immunosuppression of TME, mainly due to the overstimulation of cytokines in TME by YAP1. Subsequently, we studied the effects of YAP1 on metabolic reprogramming in liver tumor cells, including glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, lipid metabolism, arachidonic acid metabolism, and amino acid metabolism. Lastly, we summarized the existing drugs targeting YAP1 in the treatment of liver tumor, including some medicines from natural sources, which have the potential to improve the efficacy of ICIs in the treatment of liver tumor. This review contributed to the application of targeted YAP1 for combined therapy with ICIs in liver tumor patients.

This work reveals the relaxation phenomenon induced by the localized atomic segregation during harmonic vibrations, which engenders substantial fluctuations in the dynamic modulus. The relaxation peak occurs when the dynamic modulus undergoes a sudden increase upon temperature reduction to −20 °C. This occurrence is caused by interstitial carbon atoms undergoing segregation and dragging dislocations to accumulate near grain boundaries. It leads to an increase in elastic strain energy, resulting in local stress concentrations and cracks initiation in heat affected zone (HAZ) and weld zone (WZ). The elevated value of the dynamic modulus within the HAZ facilitates a substantial internal accumulation of elastic strain energy. Consequently, this accumulation allows cracks to propagate rapidly along grain boundaries within the HAZ. Secondary cracks form in dispersed localized stress concentration zones in the WZ, which can inhibit crack propagation during harmonic vibration. This work will provide detailed insights and theoretical studies on the harmonic vibrational behavior of heterogeneous metals at low temperatures.

The Warburg effect, also called aerobic glycolysis, refers to tumor cells that metabolize glucose through glycolysis even in the presence of oxygen. This rapid breakdown of glucose fuels the fast development, growth, and migration of tumor cells. Lactate, the final product of aerobic glycolysis, contributes to an acidic environment within the tumor, promoting the formation of an immunosuppressive microenvironment and accelerating tumor progression by impeding anti-tumor immunity. Numerous studies have confirmed the critical role of aerobic glycolysis in the occurrence and development of hepatocellular carcinoma by influencing tumor cells proliferation, invasion, metastasis, apoptosis, immune escape, angiogenesis, and more. Clinical trials have shown that inhibitors of rate-limiting enzymes in the glycolysis pathway can enhance the effectiveness of sorafenib, a targeted drug for hepatocellular carcinoma, by reducing drug resistance. Additionally, active components of traditional Chinese medicine and specific compound prescriptions are gaining attention for their potential to target and regulate aerobic glycolysis in hepatocellular carcinoma. Therefore, inhibiting the aerobic glycolysis pathway holds promise as a therapeutic strategy for treating liver tumors. This manuscript aims to review the role, research directions, and clinical studies of aerobic glycolysis in hepatocellular carcinoma.

With the ongoing digital transformation and multi-domain interaction occurring in the buildings, a huge amount of heterogeneous data is generated and stored on a daily basis. To take advantage of the gathered data and help better decision makings, suitable methods are needed to meet the demand for building operations and reinvestment planning. Ontology, which provides not only the vocabulary of a certain domain but also the relationship between each other has been used in multiple engineering fields to manage heterogeneous data. A plethora of ontology development methodologies have been developed in the last decade, whereas those methods are still really time-consuming and in a low degree of automation. In this paper, we approach the problem by first presenting a semi-automatic ontology development framework that integrates existing automatic ontology tools and reuses existing ontology and data model. Based on this framework, we create a building energy management ontology and evaluate the data coverage of several real-life data sets.

Plant-derived selenium is an important source of selenium (Se) for humans, which, however, has been restricted by a low content of Se in soil. Traditional Se fertilizers have tended to result in low selenium utilization. Thus, it was necessary to develop a new slow-release material to control Se fertilizer release. In this study, biochar pyrolyzed at 300 °C and 800 °C was cross-linked with polyethyleneimine (PEI) after being treated with HNO3 or NaOH (which were labeled Acid-W300, Acid-W800, Alkali-W300, and Alkali-W800). The results showed that the maximum adsorption capacities of Acid-W300, Alkali-W300, Acid-W800, and Alkali-W800 were 329.16 mg/g, 321.93 mg/g, 315.04 mg/g, and 344.33 mg/g, respectively. Among them, Acid-W800 and Alkali-W800 were mainly imine- and amide-bonded with SO32−, while Acid-W300 and Alkali-W300 were loaded with SO32− by forming the C–Se bonding as well as through imine- and amide-bonding. The release of four biochar-based selenium fertilizers in the red soil and brown soil extracts conformed to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The release rate and release amount of four biochar-based selenium fertilizers in the red soil extract were higher than those in the brown soil extract. Alkali-W800-Se had a higher proportion of Se-exchangeable release, accounting for 87.5% of the total loaded selenium, while Acid-W300-Se had the lowest proportion at 62.2%. However, the Se releases of Alkali-W800-Se were more than 42.49% and 37.67% of the total Se-loading capacity during 5 days of continuous red soil extraction and brown soil extraction, respectively. Acid-W300-Se released less than 20% of the total Se-loading capacity. Thus, Acid-W300-Se was the recommended slow-release Se fertilizer in red soil and brown soil.

Serious emergencies exacerbate the uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity of the external environment, creating survival challenges for organizations and employees. During emergencies, it becomes more difficult for organizations to leverage organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs) from their employees to survive existential crises. From the perspective of resource exchange and investment, we explore the ways that organizations can collaboratively overcome difficulties by motivating their employees to engage in OCBs. Our findings show that (1) a psychosocial safety climate (PSC) that is adopted by an organization can effectively stimulate employee OCBs, which are of greater help to organizations than to coworkers, (2) resilience may be a psychological resource that explains the stimulating effect of a PSC on OCBs, and (3) employee trait gratitude enhances the role of resilience in mediating the relationship between a PSC and helping behaviors (but not civic virtue behaviors). Our findings not only reveal the mechanisms by which organizations can stimulate employee OCBs when the two face survival challenges during serious emergencies but also provide a recommendation for managers to focus on employee mental health and resilience during crises.

The power sector contributes about 40% of global GHG emissions, and power transformers are an important physical component of the power sector. It is responsible for the transformation and distribution of electrical energy. It is necessary to obtain the GHG emissions of transformers. Based on the life cycle analysis, this paper establishes a transformer GHG emission model and determines the boundary of the calculation system as transformer raw material acquisition stage, assembly stage, transportation stage, operation stage, and end of life. Using the data of one 110 kV and one 220 kV transformer to calculate the GHG emissions in the life cycle, the results show that the power loss in operation dominates the GHG emissions in the transformer life cycle, contributing more than 96% of the GHG emissions. For power transformer GHG emissions, it is suggested to increase the utilization rate of transformer components to reduce power losses during operation.

Abstract With the increasing number of available satellites from multi‐global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) and their applications in complicated environments, an increased number of faults in measurements are inevitable. Fault detection and exclusion (FDE) is an effective way to reject observation faults in order to guarantee the integrity of a GNSS positioning and navigation system. We propose a modified between‐receiver single‐differencing (SD)‐based FDE algorithm for real‐time kinematic (RTK) positioning. First, a modified between‐receiver SD model‐based FDE is proposed for testing the estimated float ambiguities. This is helpful in rejecting observations with unreliable float ambiguities and obtaining reliable double‐differencing (DD) integer ambiguities, denoted as the SD float model in the sequel. Second, DD ambiguities are resolved by the DD model and used to update the previous SD float ambiguity. After that, a modified SD fix model, taking the DD ambiguities as the known parameters, is further developed to detect any unreliable or fault‐resolved ambiguities. To verify the modified SD model‐based FDE algorithm, a kinematic vehicle test is conducted. The fault detection test statistics of the SD float model and the SD fix model, time‐to‐first‐fix, ambiguity‐fix rate, SD residuals, and positioning performances are examined. The results show that the modified FDE method can detect and exclude fault satellites accurately and effectively, which is verified by the SD residuals of fault satellites. The ambiguity‐fix rate of the proposed modified FDE algorithm is improved by approximately 3% with 70 more epochs of fixes. Regarding the 3D positioning performance, the modified proposed SD‐based FDE algorithm can achieve 54.11%, 57.78%, and 73.11% improvements for standard deviation, root mean square, and mean bias, respectively, when compared with the processing strategy without the use of the proposed FDE.

Carrier Smoothing Code (CSC), as a low-pass filter, has been widely used in GNSS positioning processing to reduce pseudorange noise via carrier phases. However, current CSC methods do not consider the systematic bias between the code and carrier phase observation, also known as Satellite-induced Code Bias (SICB). SICB has been identified in the BDS-2 and the bias will reduce the accuracy or reliability of the CSC. To confront bias, an improved CSC algorithm is proposed by considering SICB for GEO, IGSO, and MEO satellites in BDS constellations. The correction model of SICB for IGSO/MEO satellites is established by using a 0.1-degree interval piecewise weighted least squares Third-order Curve Fitting Method (TOCFM). The Variational Mode Decomposition combined with Wavelet Transform (VMD-WT) is proposed to establish the correction model of SICB for the GEO satellite. To verify the proposed method, the SICB model was established by collecting 30 Multi-GNSS Experiment (MGEX) BDS stations in different seasons of a year, in which the BDS data of ALIC, KRGG, KOUR, GCGO, GAMG, and SGOC stations were selected for 11 consecutive days to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm. The results show that there is obvious SICB in the BDS-2 Multipath (MP) combination, but the SICB in the BDS-3 MP is smaller and can be ignored. Compared with the modeling in the references, TOCFM is more suitable for IGSO/MEO SICB modeling, especially for the SICB correction at low elevation angles. After the VMD-WT correction, the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of SICB of B1I, B2I, and B3I in GEO satellites is reduced by 53.35%, 63.50%, and 64.71% respectively. Moreover, we carried out ionosphere-free Single Point Positioning (IF SPP), Ionosphere-free CSC SPP (IF CSC SPP), CSC single point positioning with the IGSO/MEO SICB Correction based on the TOCFA Method (IGSO/MEO SICB CSC), and CSC single point positioning with the IGSO/MEO/GEO SICB correction based on VMD-WT and TOCFA (IGSO/MEO/GEO SICB CSC), respectively. Compared to IF SPP, the average improvement of the IGSO/MEO/GEO SICB CSC algorithm in the north, east, and up directions was 24.42%, 27.94%, and 24.98%, respectively, and the average reduction in 3D RMSE is 24.54%. Compared with IF CSC SPP, the average improvement of IGSO/MEO/GEO SICB CSC is 7.03%, 6.50%, and 10.48% in the north, east, and up directions, respectively, while the average reduction in 3D RMSE was 9.86%. IGSO/MEO SICB mainly improves the U direction positioning accuracy, and GEO SICB mainly improves the E and U direction positioning accuracy. After the IGSO/MEO/GEO SICB correction, the overall improvement was about 10% and positioning improved to a certain extent.

Bladder cancer (BLCA) is one of the cancers that is highly sensitive to specific non-invasive tumor biomarkers that facilitate early diagnosis. Exosome-derived long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) hold promise as diagnostic biomarkers for BLCA. In this study, we employed RNA-sequencing to compare the expression patterns of lncRNAs in urine exosomes from three BLCA patients and three healthy individuals. RMRP displayed the most significant differential expression. Elevated RMRP expression levels were observed in urinary and plasma exosomes from BLCA patients compared with those from healthy individuals. RMRP exhibited significant associations with certain BLCA patient clinicopathological features, including tumor stage, poor prognosis, and tumor grade. Combined diagnosis using RMRP in urine and plasma exosomes demonstrated a superior diagnostic performance with receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. RMRP was found to be related to BLCA tumor progression and the cell migration and invasion processes via the miR-206/G6PD axis both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, RMRP serves as an miR-206 sponge, as suggested by dual-luciferase reporter assays and RNA immunoprecipitation. Our study suggests that the combined diagnosis of RMRP in urinary and plasma exosomes can serve as an excellent non-invasive diagnostic biomarker for BLCA patients. Additionally, targeting the RMRP/miR-206/G6PD axis holds promise as a therapeutic strategy for BLCA.

Poly(diiododiacetylene)—PIDA—contains iodine atoms, which are commonly found in computed tomography contrast agents. Here, the authors find that PIDA can function as a contrast agent and can also be used as a visual marker to delineate tumour margins.

BackgroundAdult pure androgen–secreting adrenal tumors (PASATs) are extremely rare, and their characteristics are largely unknown.MethodsA rare case of adult bilateral PASATs was reported, and a systematic literature review of adult PASATs was conducted to summarize the characteristics of PASATs.ResultsIn total, 48 studies, including 40 case reports and 8 articles, were identified in this review. Analysis based on data of 42 patients (including current case and 41 patients from 40 case reports) showed that average age was 40.48 ± 15.80 years (range of 18-76). The incidence of adult PASAT peaked at 21-30 years old, while that of malignant PASAT peaked at 41-50 years old. Most PASAT patients were female (40/42, 95.23%), and hirsutism was the most common symptom (37/39, 94.87%). Testosterone (T) was the most commonly elevated androgen (36/42, 85.71%), and 26 of 32 tested patients presented increased dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DS) levels. In malignancy cases, disease duration was significantly decreased (1.96 vs. 4.51 years, P=0.025), and tumor diameter was significantly increased (8.9 vs. 4.9 cm, p=0.011). Moreover, the androgen levels, namely, T/upper normal range limit (UNRL) (11.94 vs. 4.943, P=0.770) and DS/UNRL (16.5 vs. 5.28, P=0.625), were higher in patients with malignancy. In total, 5 out of 7 patients showed an increase in DS or T in the human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) stimulation test. Overall, 41 out of 42 patients (including current case) underwent adrenal surgery, and recurrence, metastasis, or death was reported in 5 out of 11 malignant patients even with adjuvant or rescue mitotane chemotherapy.ConclusionAdult PASAT, which is predominant in women, is characterized by virilism and menstrual dysfunction, especially hirsutism. Elevated T and DS may contribute to the diagnosis of adult PASAT, and HCG stimulation test might also be of help in diagnosis. Patients with malignant PASAT have a shorter disease duration, larger tumor sizes and relatively higher androgen levels. Surgery is recommended for all local PASATs, and Malignancy of PASAT should be fully considered due to the high risk of malignancy, poor prognosis and limited effective approaches.

BackgroundTotal pancreatectomy (TP) has been increasingly performed in recent years. However, studies on diabetes management after TP during different postoperative periods are still limited.ObjectivesThis study aimed to evaluate the glycemic control and insulin therapy of patients undergoing TP during the perioperative and long-term follow-up period.MethodsNinety-three patients undergoing TP for diffuse pancreatic tumors from a single center in China were included. Based on preoperative glycemic status, patients were divided into three groups: nondiabetic group (NDG, n = 41), short-duration diabetic group (SDG, preoperative diabetes duration ≤12 months, n = 22), and long-duration diabetic group (LDG, preoperative diabetes duration >12 months, n = 30). Perioperative and long-term follow-up data, including the survival rate, glycemic control, and insulin regimens, were evaluated. Comparative analysis with complete insulin-deficient type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) was conducted.ResultsDuring hospitalization after TP, glucose values within the target (4.4-10.0 mmol/L) accounted for 43.3% of the total data, and 45.2% of the patients experienced hypoglycemic events. Patients received continuous intravenous insulin infusion during parenteral nutrition at a daily insulin dose of 1.20 ± 0.47 units/kg/day. In the long-term follow-up period, glycosylated hemoglobin A1c levels of 7.43 ± 0.76% in patients following TP, as well as time in range and coefficient of variation assessed by continuous glucose monitoring, were similar to those in patients with T1DM. However, patients after TP had lower daily insulin dose (0.49 ± 0.19 vs 0.65 ± 0.19 units/kg/day, P < 0.001) and basal insulin percentage (39.4 ± 16.5 vs 43.9 ± 9.9%, P = 0.035) than patients with T1DM, so did those using insulin pump therapy. Whether in the perioperative or long-term follow-up period, daily insulin dose was significantly higher in LDG patients than in NDG and SDG patients.ConclusionsInsulin dose in patients undergoing TP varied according to different postoperative periods. During long-term follow-up, glycemic control and variability following TP were comparable to complete insulin-deficient T1DM but with fewer insulin needs. Preoperative glycemic status should be evaluated as it could guide insulin therapy after TP.

Naproxen (NAP) is an aromatic propionic acid nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, and vortioxetine (VOT) is a novel antidepressant drug. In this study, a new 1 : 1 drug-drug salt of NAP and VOT (namely, NAP-VOT) was designed and synthesized by liquid-assisted grinding and slow evaporation. The obtained salt was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Single-crystal structure showed that NAP-VOT is a molecular salt. The NAP and VOT molecules in the salt were connected by N-H+⋯O hydrogen bonds between the carbonyl oxygen of NAP and the piperazine group of VOT. In addition, solubility and dissolution rate experiments were performed in water and pH 6.86 phosphate buffers, and the result suggested that salt formation could increase the solubility and dissolution rate of NAP and VOT in water. Furthermore, this study provides a new research idea to solve the problem of drug-drug combination by achieving drug-drug association at the molecular level.

Hydroquinone (HQ), a well-known carcinogenic agent, induces oxidative stress, cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, and malignant transformation. As an antioxidant actor, the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) drives adaptive cellular protection in response to oxidative stress. The human lymphoblastoid cell line (TK6 cells) is widely used as a model for leukemia researches. In the present study, we focused on exploring whether Nrf2 regulatory cell cycle in TK6 cells upon HQ treatment and the underlying mechanisms. The results showed that the cell cycle arrest in TK6 cells induced by hydroquinone was accompanied by activation of the Nrf2 signaling pathway. We further clarified that Nrf2 loss accelerated cell cycle progression from G0/G1 to S and G2/M phases and promoted ROS production by downregulating the expression of SOD and GSH. Western blotting analysis indicated that Nrf2 regulated cell cycle progression via p16/pRb signaling pathways. Therefore, we conclude that Nrf2 is engaged in HQ-induced cell cycle arrest as well through p16/pRb and antioxidant enzymes.

Torque observation techniques have been widely employed to estimate the load torque of flexible joints driven by a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM). However, the performance of the observer degrades significantly when the position and orientation of the robot continuously changes, resulting in substantial irregular load variations. In this paper, an adaptive torque observer based on fuzzy inference is proposed to overcome this issue. Instead of relying on theoretical or numerical derivation, the relationship between the load inertia and the closed-loop poles of the torque observer is expressed by fuzzy inference. This approach enables the flexible configuration of the poles based on the load inertia, allowing for automatic tuning of the gain matrix. Consequently, the observer can ensure robustness and maintain superior performance under varying load conditions. The effectiveness of the proposed observer is validated through simulation and experimental results. It shows that compared to the classical Luenberger observer, the proposed adaptive torque observer can achieve more accurate observation results and exhibits a more dynamic response in the presence of varying load inertia.

Increased pollution caused by socio-economic development has led to compound-contaminated high-hardness water pollution. In this study, laboratory-scale nanofiltration (NF) treatment of such water was investigated. Response-surface methodology was used to optimize the NF operating parameters, and a regression model with desalination rate and transmembrane pressure changes as response values was established. The NF membrane efficiencies in contaminant removal from groundwater and surface water with compound-contaminated high hardness and the membrane-fouling characteristics during long-term operation were investigated. The results show that the optimal operating parameters for the NF membrane in the removal of inorganic salts from groundwater are as follows: influent pH 8, influent pressure 1 MPa, and water yield 27.976%. The removal rates for groundwater total hardness, total alkalinity, total soluble solids, K+, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, , Cl−, , and were 99.4, 90.3, 84.7, 63.2, 56.8, 99.6, 95.2, 99.6, 68.3, 86.1, and 65.9%, respectively. Surface water contains more complex components; therefore, membrane fouling during surface water is more serious. The NF membrane was operated continuously for more than 35 days under the optimal operating conditions with no serious membrane fouling. Background: The polypyrimidine tract-binding protein (PTBP) nuclear ribonucleoprotein family of proteins, including PTBP1, PTBP2 and PTBP3, regulate the process of cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis and carcinogenesis. PTBPs exhibit oncogenic effects in certain tumors. However, the role of PTBPs in pan-cancer remains unclear. Our study examined the clinical significance and mechanism of PTBPs in pan-cancer.Methods: We compared the expression of PTBPs in paired and unpaired tissue samples from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression, Kaplan–Meier curves, and time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to assess the prognostic significance of PTBPs in pan-cancer. The cBioPortal database also identified genomic abnormalities in PTBPs. TISIDB, TCGA, and Cellminer were used to investigate the relationship between PTBP expression and immune subtypes, immune checkpoint (ICP) genes, tumor mutational burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI), tumor-infiltrating immune cells, and chemosensitivity. cBioPortal was used to search for PTBP co-expressing genes in pan-cancer, and GO and KEGG enrichment analyses were performed to search for PTBP-related signaling pathways.Results:PTBPs were shown to be widely upregulated in human tumor tissues. PTBP1 showed good prognostic value in ACC, KIRP, and LGG; PTBP2 in ACC and KICH; and PTBP3 in ACC, LGG, and PAAD, with AUC >0.7. PTBPs were differentially expressed in tumor immune subtypes and had a strong correlation with tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in the tumor microenvironment (TME). In addition, PTBP expressions were related to ICP, TMB, and MSI, suggesting that these three PTBPs may be potential tumor immunotherapeutic targets and predict the efficacy of immunotherapy. Enrichment analysis of co-expressed genes of PTBPs showed that they may be involved in alternative splicing, cell cycle, cellular senescence, and protein modification.Conclusion: PTBPs are involved in the malignant progression of tumors. PTBP1, PTBP2 and PTBP3 may be potential biomarkers for prognosis and immunotherapy in pan-cancer and may be novel immunotherapeutic targets.

Ambiguity resolution based on smartphone GNSS measurements can enable various potential applications that currently remain difficult due to ambiguity biases, especially under kinematic conditions. This study proposes an improved ambiguity resolution algorithm, which uses the search-and-shrink procedure coupled with the methods of the multi-epoch double-differenced residual test and the ambiguity majority tests for candidate vectors and ambiguities. By performing a static experiment with Xiaomi Mi 8, the AR efficiency of the proposed method is evaluated. Furthermore, a kinematic test with Google Pixel 5 verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method with improved positioning performance. In conclusion, centimeter-level smartphone positioning accuracy is achieved in both experiments, which is greatly improved compared with the float and traditional AR solutions.

Theranostics that integrates therapy and diagnosis in one system to achieve accurate cancer diagnosis and treatment has attracted tremendous interest, and has been recognized as a potential breakthrough in overcoming the challenges of conventional oncotherapy. Nanoparticles are ideal candidates as carriers for theranostic agents, which is attributed to their extraordinary physicochemical properties, including nanoscale sizes, functional properties, prolonged blood circulation, active or passive tumor targeting, specific cellular uptake, and in some cases, excellent optical properties that ideally meet the needs of phototherapy and imaging at the same time. Overall, with the development of nanotechnology, theranostics has become a reality, and is now in the transition stage of “bench to bedside.” In this review, we summarize recent progress on nanotechnology-based theranostics, i.e., nanotheranostics, that has greatly assisted traditional therapies, and has provided therapeutic strategies emerging in recent decades, as well as “cocktail” theranostics mixing various treatment modalities.

Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries have been regarded as ideal alternatives to lithium‐ion batteries in large‐scale electrochemical energy storage systems because of their low cost and abundant resources. However, the lack of high‐performance electrode materials with high energy density hinders the development of sodium‐ion batteries. Prussian blue analogs (PBAs) are especially regarded as superior cathodes for sodium‐ion batteries due to their high capacity and good electrochemical stability. The species and chemical environment of transition metal ions in PBAs greatly affect the electrochemical properties. In this study, we report a sodium cobalt hexacyanoferrate (NaxCo[Fe(CN)6]) and potassium iron hexacyanocobaltate (KxFe[Co(CN)6]) nanoparticles through the coprecipitation method via changing the coordination structures of Co and Fe. With similar morphologies of well‐defined nanocubes and different M1–CN–Mʹ2, the initial discharge capacities of NaxCo[Fe(CN)6] cathode and KxFe[Co(CN)6] anode reach 104.1 and 354.8 mAh g−1, respectively. The sodium‐ion full cell assembled using NaxCo[Fe(CN)6] cathode and KxFe[Co(CN)6] anode achieves a discharge capacity of 141.6 mAh g−1. The outstanding performances of the NaxCo[Fe(CN)6] and KxFe[Co(CN)6] are attributed to their stable structures, and the facile synthesis of NaxCo[Fe(CN)6] and KxFe[Co(CN)6] makes them accessible for large‐scale applications.

Paleostress plays an important role in controlling the formation and distribution of reservoir fractures, which is a key factor controlling the production of oil and gas from unconventional reservoirs. At present, there are many methods to perform paleostress inversion, but these methods are mainly based on outcrop or directional core data, which are not easily available in the oil and gas industry, which mainly focuses on the study of underground geological structures. In this study, we use 3D seismic reflection data for the first time to perform slip-tendency-based stress inversion to determine the stress field of the Xicaogu area in the Bohai Bay Basin during the Neogene period. This slip-tendency-based stress inversion method is based on the analysis of slip tendency and fault throw and does not require the measurement of slip directions. The data for this method can easily be extracted from data sets routinely used in the oil and gas industry. The inversion results show that in the study area and the strata of interest, the maximum principal stress axis (σ1) is oriented vertically, the intermediate principal stress axis (σ2) is oriented N70o, the minimum principal stress (σ3) is oriented N160o, and σ2/σ1 = 0.69 and σ3/σ1 = 0.27. The results of this study serve as an important reference to clarify fault reactivation at the critical stage of hydrocarbon accumulation.

Abstract Background To investigate the potential utility of quantitative parameters obtained by 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) in the assessment of disease severity and the occurrence of macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) in adult-onset Still’s disease (AOSD). Methods Fifty-seven patients with AOSD who underwent pre-treatment 18F-FDG PET/CT were recruited in this study and compared with 60 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. Clinical features and laboratory data were recorded. The systemic score was assessed to determine the disease severity. The maximal standardized uptake value (SUVmax), metabolic lesion volume (MLV), and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) were used to evaluate the involved organs and tissues that abnormally accumulated 18F-FDG. Multivariate analysis was performed to identify the PET/CT-derived risk factors contributing to the AOSD-related MAS, and their diagnostic efficiency was evaluated. Results High 18F-FDG accumulation was observed in the bone marrow (SUVmax median, 5.10), spleen (SUVmax median, 3.70), and lymph nodes (LNs, SUVmax median, 5.55). The SUVmax of the bone marrow (rho = 0.376, p = 0.004), SUVmax of the spleen (rho = 0.450, p 62.2 (OR 27.375, p = 0.042) was an independent predictive factor for MAS with a sensitivity of 80.0% and a specificity of 93.9%. Conclusions The glucose metabolic level of the spleen could be an effective and easy-to-use imaging indicator of disease severity, and MLVtotal of LNs > 62.2 was a strong predictor of MAS occurrence in patients with AOSD.

Age-related hearing loss (ARHL) is a kind of symmetrical and slow sensorineural hearing loss, which is a common condition in older adults. The characteristic of ARHL is hearing loss beginning in the high-frequency region and spreading toward low-frequency with age. Previous studies have linked it to anxiety, suggesting that brain structure may be involved in compensatory plasticity after partial hearing deprivation. However, the neural mechanisms of underlying ARHL-related anxiety remain unclear. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to explore the interactions among high-frequency hearing loss and anxiety as well as brain structure in older adults. Sixty-seven ARHL patients and 68 normal hearing (NH) controls participated in this study, and the inclusion criterion of ARHL group was four-frequency (0.5, 1, 2, and 4 kHz) pure tone average (PTA) > 25 decibels hearing level of the better hearing ear. All participants performed three-dimensional T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), pure tone audiometry tests, anxiety and depression scales. Our results found gray matter volume (GMV) decreased in 20 brain regions in the ARHL group compared with the NH group, and a positive correlation existed between high-frequency pure tone audiometry (H-PT) and anxiety scores in the ARHL group. Among 20 brain regions, we also found the GMVs of the middle cingulate cortex (MCC), and the hippocampal/parahippocampal (H-P) regions were associated with H-PT and anxiety scores in all participants separately. However, the depressive symptoms indicated no relationship with hearing assessment or GMVs. Our findings revealed that the crucial role of MCC and H-P in a link of anxiety and hearing loss in older adults.

Purpose. Bladder cancer is one of the most common urological malignancies worldwide, and approximately 90% of bladder cancer cases are histologically typed as bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA). Exosomes are 30 to 200 nm extracellular vesicles that transport microRNAs, long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), mRNAs, circular RNAs, and proteins across tissues and through circulation. Urinary exosomes may contain genetic information from tumor cells. Herein, we explored the clinical significance of urinary exosomal lncRNA telomerase RNA component (TERC) levels to provide an urgently needed diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for BLCA. Materials and Methods. In this study, we used RNA-sequencing of samples from four BLCA patients and three healthy controls to identify that TERC was differentially expressed in urinary exosomes. We then used quantitative PCR in different types of clinical samples to validate the biomarker and analyzed results using receiver operating characteristic curves. Results. Lactic acid is a “metabolic waste” product of glycolysis that is produced in the body. However, the role of lactic acid in the development of human malignancies has gained increasing interest lately as a multifunctional small molecule chemical. There is evidence that tumor cells may create a large amount of lactic acid through glycolysis even when they have abundant oxygen. Tumor tissues have a higher quantity of lactic acid than normal tissues. Lactic acid is required for tumor development. Lactate is an immunomodulatory chemical that affects both innate and adaptive immune cells’ effector functions. In immune cells, the lactate signaling pathway may potentially serve as a link between metabolism and immunity. Lactate homeostasis is significantly disrupted in the TME. Lactate accumulation results in acidosis, angiogenesis, immunosuppression, and tumor cell proliferation and survival, all of which are deleterious to health. Thus, augmenting anticancer immune responses by lactate metabolism inhibition may modify lactate levels in the tumor microenvironment. This review will evaluate the role of lactic acid in tumor formation, metastasis, prognosis, treatment, and histone modification. Our findings will be of considerable interest to readers, particularly those engaged in the therapeutic treatment of cancer patients. Treatments targeting the inhibition of lactate synthesis and blocking the source of lactate have emerged as a potential new therapeutic option for oncology patients. Additionally, lactic acid levels in the plasma may serve as biomarkers for disease stage and may be beneficial for evaluating therapy effectiveness in individuals with tumors.

CD279 is a cell surface protein predominantly expressed on T cells. Its ligands CD273 and CD274 are expressed on antigen‐presenting cells and tumors. CD279 has been shown to act as an important immune check point by inhibiting CD8 T cell activation, and antibodies against CD279 enhance T cell‐mediated cytotoxic function. However, whether CD279 has other functions in CD4 T cell homeostasis or in mediating T cell interactions with antigen‐presenting cells remains unclear. In the present study, we show that antibody‐mediated inhibition of CD279 reduces T cell survival in bone marrow in vivo. Unexpectedly, CD279 blockade also compromised regulatory T cell and macrophage interactions by reducing their contact time. The observation that the CD273 antagonist had little effect suggests that CD274 (the second ligand of CD279) plays a more central role in contact between conventional T cells (Tcon) and macrophages. The results of the present study suggest that both CD279 ligands contribute to the interaction length between T cells and macrophages as a mechanism of maintaining Treg homeostasis. Furthermore, CD273 and CD274 are not redundant ligands because CD274 may have unique effects on Tcon in this complex immune axis. Therefore, ligand selection for check point blockade as a tool for cancer immunotherapy has important implications with respect to anti‐tumor T cell activation and the avoidance of side effects.

In recent years, the exploration of tumor microenvironment has provided a new approach for tumor treatment. More and more researches are devoted to designing tumor microenvironment-responsive nanogels loaded with therapeutic drugs. Compared with other drug carriers, nanogel has shown great potential in improving the effect of chemotherapy, which is attributed to its stable size, superior hydrophilicity, excellent biocompatibility, and responsiveness to specific environment. This review primarily summarizes the common preparation techniques of nanogels (such as free radical polymerization, covalent cross-linking, and physical self-assembly) and loading ways of drug in nanogels (including physical encapsulation and chemical coupling) as well as the controlled drug release behaviors. Furthermore, the difficulties and prospects of nanogels as drug carriers are also briefly described.

As a typical representative of the stator permanent magnet (PM) machines, the flux reversal machines (FRMs) have a simple structure, high availability of PMs, and high efficiency, making them suitable for direct drive applications. However, the PMs of the FRMs are mounted on the surface of the stator tooth, and its equivalent length of air gap is relatively large, which limits the torque increase. To improve the torque density, a novel FRM with auxiliary teeth is proposed in this paper. Half of the stator teeth are replaced by auxiliary teeth without PMs to reduce magnetic flux leakage, the number of PMs on each stator tooth is also changed. To improve the torque, the genetic algorithm is used to optimize the key design parameters to determine the optimal parameters of the machine. Finally, a finite element model is established to verify the analysis results. Compared with the conventional FRM, the torque of the proposed FRM is increased by 25.1%, the torque ripple is reduced by 24.1%, and the consumption of PMs is reduced by 24.1%. Therefore, the proposed FRM has a broader application prospect.

BackgroundPrimary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a highly aggressive and rare extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). The MSKCC and the IELSG scores represent the most widely used prognostic models, but many changes have occurred in therapeutic protocols since their development. Moreover, many PCNSL patients cannot be classified using the IELSG score. We thus aimed to create a novel, effective and feasible prognostic model for PCNSL.MethodsWe included 248 PCNSL patients diagnosed with PCNSL. Our primary endpoint was the overall survival (OS) and we used the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis to determine the optimal prognostic cut-off value for LLR (lactate dehydrogenase-to-lymphocyte ratio), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and derived neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (dNLR). Variable associated with OS were evaluated by univariate and multivariate analyses. 124 out of 248 patients were randomly selected as the internal validation cohort.ResultsBy univariate analysis, an age >60 years, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG PS) >1, treatment with radiotherapy alone, high-risk groups of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) score, NLR >4.74, dNLR >3.29, and LLR >166.8 were significantly associated with a worse OS. By multivariate analysis, the MSKCC score and LLR were confirmed as independent prognostic parameters for poorer OS. OS, however, was not significantly different between low- and intermediate-risk groups according to the MSKCC score, while LLR proved to be prognostically relevant and was thus used to develop a novel, effective three-tier PCNSL scoring system. Of 124 patients, 84 patients with survival data and LLR data were successfully validated by newly established PCNSL LLR scoring system.ConclusionsIn the present study, we demonstrate that a high LLR represents an independent unfavorable prognostic parameter in PCNSL patients which can be integrated into an effective prognostic model.

Tilia mandshurica is recognized as one of the most valuable timber, ornamental and nectariferous tree species, and its cutting propagation is very difficult. To evaluate the influence of ortet age on the rooting of T. mandshurica cuttings and the relationship between the variations of nutrients, enzyme activities, endogenous hormones and the formation of adventitious roots, a series of softwood cuttings of T. mandshurica were collected from 2-, 7-, 15- and 20-year-old healthy ortets, respectively. The rooting percentage, mean root number and total root length were investigated after 60 days of cultivation. Phenotypic and anatomical changes and the variations of organic nutrients, enzyme activities and endogenous hormones were measured during adventitious root formation. The results showed that ortet age effect existed in T. mandshurica softwood cuttings. The adventitious rooting of 2-year-old ortets was superior to that of 7-, 15- and 20-year-old ortets. No root primordium was visible in T. mandshurica softwood cuttings before cultivation, and the root primordia were induced after planting. The adventitious roots derived from vascular cambium and callus in cuttings. Soluble sugar increased during root primordium induction and decreased in adventitious root elongation. Soluble protein decreased during root primordium induction and increased in adventitious root elongation. Polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity increasing and peroxidase (POD) and 3-indoleacetic acid oxidase (IAAO) activities decreasing were conducive to root primordium induction. High 3-indoleacetic acid (IAA) and gibberellin (GA3) level could promote root primordium induction and low IAA and GA3 level was beneficial to adventitious root elongation. Abscisic acid (ABA) and zeatin riboside (ZR) inhibited root primordium induction and adventitious root elongation. IAA, ABA and ZR coordinated with each other in the process of root primordium induction and adventitious root formation. IAA/ABA increasing could promote root primordium induction, and IAA/ZR increasing was beneficial to root primordium induction and adventitious root elongation. The soluble sugar content, PPO activity, IAA/ABA and IAA/ZR of softwood cuttings from 2-year-old ortets were relatively high, which may be the reason for the better adventitious rooting. The present study provides a reference to build a propagation by cuttings technology of linden trees.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an emerging effective strategy for cancer treatment. Compared with conventional cancer therapies, such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, PDT has shown great promise as a next-generation cancer therapeutic strategy owing to its many advantages such as non-invasiveness, negligible observed drug resistance, localized treatment, and fewer side effects. One of the key elements in photodynamic therapy is the photosensitizer (PS) which converts photons into active cytotoxic species, namely, reactive oxygen species (ROS). An ideal PS for photodynamic therapy requires the efficient generation of ROS, high stability against photo bleaching, and robust performance in different environments and concentrations. PSs with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristics have drawn significant attention, in that they can overcome the aggregation- caused quenching effect that is commonly seen in the case of fluorescence dyes and provide excellent performance at high concentrations or in their condensed state. Moreover, organic nanomaterials with AIE characteristics, or AIE dots, have played an increasingly significant role in assisting PDT based on its excellent ROS generation efficiency and simultaneous imaging feature. This review summarizes the recent advances on the molecular design of AIE PSs and AIE dots-based probes, as well as their emerging applications for enhanced anticancer PDT theranostics.

To further enhance the understanding of video education, researchers have started leveraging neuroscientific approaches to investigate the underlying cognitive processes and their correlation with learning outcomes. This concise review begins by examining recent behavioral studies that focus on teachers, students, and video media within the video education context. The findings from these studies provide valuable insights into the overall paradigm and design. Moreover, this review explores the potential of single-brain research and the emerging multi-brain scanning approach to shed light on the neural mechanisms involved in video learning. Current research has mostly used electroencephalography (EEG) to detect different brainwave frequency changes when single learners watch videos, as well as functional magnetic resonance or EEG to discover the extent to which the coupling of brain activity between instructional subjects in video-based instruction predicts learning outcomes. These novel approaches hold great promise in determining the cognitive processes implicated in video education and may eventually lead to more personalized and effective learning methods. By synthesizing the current state of research, this review aims to contribute to the ongoing discussions in the field and inspire further investigations into the neuroscientific aspects of video education.

Objectives: The study is performed to analyze the relationship between immune-related long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and the prognosis of cervical cancer patients. We constructed a prognostic model and explored the immune characteristics of different risk groups.Methods: We downloaded the gene expression profiles and clinical data of 227 patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas database and extracted immune-related lncRNAs. Cox regression analysis was used to pick out the predictive lncRNAs. The risk score of each patient was calculated based on the expression level of lncRNAs and regression coefficient (β), and a prognostic model was constructed. The overall survival (OS) of different risk groups was analyzed and compared by the Kaplan–Meier method. To analyze the distribution of immune-related genes in each group, principal component analysis and Gene set enrichment analysis were carried out. Estimation of STromal and Immune cells in MAlignant Tumors using Expression data was performed to explore the immune microenvironment.Results: Patients were divided into training set and validation set. Five immune-related lncRNAs (H1FX-AS1, AL441992.1, USP30-AS1, AP001527.2, and AL031123.2) were selected for the construction of the prognostic model. Patients in the training set were divided into high-risk group with shorter OS and low-risk group with longer OS (p = 0.004); meanwhile, similar result were found in validation set (p = 0.013), combination set (p < 0.001) and patients with different tumor stages. This model was further confirmed in 56 cervical cancer tissues by Q-PCR. The distribution of immune-related genes was significantly different in each group. In addition, the immune score and the programmed death-ligand 1 expression of the low-risk group was higher.Conclusions: The prognostic model based on immune-related lncRNAs could predict the prognosis and immune status of cervical cancer patients which is conducive to clinical prognosis judgment and individual treatment.

In this paper, a novel dual flux modulation (DFM) machine with consequent-pole spoke-array permanent magnets (PMs) in both stator and rotor is proposed to achieve a larger torque density than regular flux modulation machines. The stator has two portions of PMs, one is set next to the stator slot with circumferential magnetization, and the other is inserted between the stator yoke and flux bridge with radial magnetization. The rotor has consequent-pole spoke-array PMs and alternative flux bridges. The proposed DFMPM machine can be regarded as the combination of the flux switching PM (FSPM) machine and vernier PM (VPM) machine. First, the structure and operational principle are introduced. Then, the proposed 12-stator-slot/10-rotor-tooth dual flux modulation permanent magnet (DFMPM) machine is compared with the FSPM machine and VPM machine in terms of flux lines distribution, back-electromotive force (EMF), cogging torque and average torque. Finally, the four proposed DFMPM machines are optimized for maximum average torque and minimum ripple torque considering the effects of split ratio, slot opening ratio, PM depth, PM angle and iron angle.

The ocean is a very important arena in modern warfare where all marine powers deploy their military forces. Due to the complex environment of the ocean, underwater equipment has become a very threatening means of surprise attack in modern warfare. Therefore, the timely and effective detection of underwater moving targets is the key to obtaining warfare advantages and has important strategic significance for national security. In this paper, magnetic flux induction technology was studied with regard to the difficulty of detecting underwater concealed moving targets. Firstly, the characteristics of a magnetic target were analyzed and an equivalent magnetic dipole model was established. Secondly, the structure of the rectangular induction coil was designed according to the model, and the relationship between the target’s magnetism and the detection signal was deduced. The variation curves of the magnetic flux and the electromotive force induced in the coil were calculated by using the numerical simulation method, and the effects of the different motion parameters of the magnetic dipole and the size parameters of the coil on the induced electromotive force were analyzed. Finally, combined with the wavelet threshold filter, a series of field tests were carried out using ships of different materials in shallow water in order to verify the moving target detection method based on magnetic flux induction technology. The results showed that this method has an obvious response to moving targets and can effectively capture target signals, which verifies the feasibility of the magnetic flux induction detection technology.

The eco-environment provides various spaces, conditions, and resources for human development, and their quality is a significant factor affecting sustainable development in a region. Most drylands face environmental fragility due to problems such as infertile land, scarce suitable living space, and a lack of resources. Therefore, investigating the temporal and spatial changes in the eco-environment of drylands is vital to developing them sustainably. This paper takes Hetian, which is located in the Tarim Basin of Western China and has typical features of an arid (or a hyper-arid) region, as the research area. The ecological index (EI) was used to construct a comprehensive ecological evaluation system, and five sub-indices (the biological richness index, vegetation coverage index, water network denseness index, land stress index, and pollution load index) were calculated to identify the quality and changes in the eco-environment of Hetian in 1995, 2009, and 2018. The results show that, from 1995 to 2018, the EI in Hetian showed a continuous downward trend (from 24.76 to 16.32), representing a change (ΔEI) of −8.44; this indicates significant deterioration in the quality of the local eco-environment. Large fluctuations in the EI also suggests that the environment in Hetian is very sensitive. In addition, the results revealed a degradation of Hetian, which includes a hyper-arid region.

Satellites have many high-, medium-, and low-frequency micro vibration sources that lead to the optical axis jitter of the optical load and subsequently degrade the remote sensing image quality. To address this problem, this paper developed an image motion detection and restoration method based on an inertial reference laser, and describe edits principle and key components. To verify the feasibility and performance of this method, this paper also built an image motion measurement and restoration system based on an inertial reference laser, which comprised a camera (including the inertial reference laser unit and a Hartmann wavefront sensor), an integrating sphere, a simulated image target, a parallel light pope, a vibration isolation platform, a vibration generator, and a 6 degrees of freedom platform. The image restoration principle was also described. The background noise in the experiment environment was measured, and an image motion measurement accuracy experiment was performed. Verification experiments of image restoration were also conducted under various working conditions. The experiment results showed that the error of image motion detection based on the inertial reference laser was less than 0.12 pixels (root mean square). By using image motion data to improve image quality, the modulation transfer function (MTF) of the restored image was increased to 1.61–1.88 times that of the original image MTF. The image motion data could be used as feedback to the fast steering mirror to compensate for the satellite jitter in real time and to directly obtain high-quality images.

In this study, an uncombined precise point positioning (PPP) model was established and was used for estimating fractional cycle bias (FCB) products and for achieving ambiguity resolution (AR), using GPS, BDS-2, and Galileo raw observations. The uncombined PPP model is flexible and efficient for positioning services and generating FCB. The FCBs for GPS, BDS-2, and Galileo were estimated using the uncombined PPP model with observations from the Multi-GNSS Experiment (MGEX) stations. The root mean squares (RMSs) of the float ambiguity a posteriori residuals associated with all of the three GNSS constellations, i.e., GPS, BDS-2, and Galileo, are less than 0.1 cycles for both narrow-lane (NL) and wide-lane (WL) combinations. The standard deviation (STD) of the WL combination FCB series is 0.015, 0.013, and 0.006 cycles for GPS, BDS-2, and Galileo, respectively, and the counterpart for the NL combination FCB series is 0.030 and 0.0184 cycles for GPS and Galileo, respectively. For the BDS-2 NL combination FCB series, the STD of the inclined geosynchronous orbit (IGSO) satellites is 0.0156 cycles, while the value for the medium Earth orbit (MEO) satellites is 0.073 cycles. The AR solutions produced by the uncombined multi-GNSS PPP model were evaluated from the positioning biases and the success fixing rate of ambiguity. The experimental results demonstrate that the growth of the amount of available satellites significantly improves the PPP performance. The three-dimensional (3D) positioning accuracies associated with the PPP ambiguity-fixed solutions for the respective only-GPS, GPS/BDS-2, GPS/Galileo, and GPS/BDS-2/Galileo models are 1.34, 1.19, 1.21, and 1.14 cm, respectively, and more than a 30% improvement is achieved when compared to the results related to the ambiguity-float solutions. Additionally, the convergence time based on the GPS/BDS-2/Galileo observations is only 7.5 min for the ambiguity-fixed solutions, and the results exhibit a 53% improvement in comparison to the ambiguity-float solutions. The values of convergence time based on the only-GPS observations are estimated as 22 and 10.5 min for the ambiguity-float and ambiguity-fixed solutions, respectively. Lastly, the success fixing rate of ambiguity is also dramatically raised for the multi-GNSS PPP AR. For example, the percentage is approximately 99% for the GPS/BDS-2/Galileo solution over a 10 min processing period. In addition, the inter-system bias (ISB) between GPS, BDS-2, and Galileo, which is carefully considered in the uncombined multi-GNSS PPP method, is modeled as a white noise process. The differences of the ISB series between BDS-2 and Galileo indicate that the clock datum bias of the satellite clock offset estimation accounts for the variation of the ISB series.

The real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning technique of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) has been widely used for deformation monitoring in the past several decades. The RTK technique can provide relative displacements in a local reference frame defined by a highly stable reference station. However, the traditional RTK solution does not account for reference stations that experience displacement. This presents a challenge for establishing a near real-time GNSS monitoring system, as since the displacement of a reference station can be easily misinterpreted as a sign of rapid movement at the monitoring station. In this study, based on the reference observations in different time domains, asynchronous and synchronous RTK are proposed and applied together to address this issue, providing more reliable displacement information. Using the asynchronously generated time difference of a reference frame, the proposed approach can detect whether a measured displacement has occurred in the reference or the monitoring station in the current epoch. This allows for the separation of reference station movements from monitoring station movements. The results based on both simulated and landslide monitoring data demonstrate that the proposed method can provide reliable displacement determinations, which are critical in deformation monitoring applications, such as the early warning of landslides.
