Background: Appendicitis is a global disease with higher incidence in developing countries. Use of ultrasonography, and CT scan is very helpful for diagnosis. Meanwhile, health care providers in developing countries, especially in remote areas have difficulties to access these modalities. This report aimed to understand more about the diagnostic accuracy of Alvarado score and its components, and also some examinations (ex. Rovsing sign and local guarding). Methods: We collected data from studies in which patients with suspected appendicitis received examination or classification according to the Alvarado scoring system and their diagnostic test accuracy that were published from the last 10 years. We searched on ScienceDirect, Cochrane, ProQuest, PubMed, WorldWideScience and GoogleScholar. Data analysis conducted with RevMan5.4 with 95% Confidence Interval (CI).
