Prevalence of obesity in Malaysia is one of the highest among the Asian countries and it is one of the risk factors for cardiovascular disease which is the main cause of death in Malaysia. This paper aims to investigate the relationship between obesity and mortality rate and find its association with sociodemographic factors such as education and household income. This time-series study used secondary data from World Bank data and Household Income Survey (HIS), and it used annual data from 1990 to 2019. ADF test is used to test the stationarity. Simple linear and multiple linear regression were used in this paper to study the relationship between mortality with obesity, education, and household income. Multicollinearity, heteroskedasticity and R-squared were used to define the best regression model in this study. This study found that mortality was positively associated with obesity. Besides, the findings also shows that there was an inverse relationship between obesity and education, meanwhile positive relationship appears between obesity and household income. The inflation, interest rate and dividend rate uncertainties have caused pension system in Malaysia, particularly the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) scheme, facing major challenges to remain financially sustainable and capable of providing sufficient protection to pensioners. Thus, this study employed these variables to analyze if there is a significant relationship between inflation, interest rate and dividend rate on private pension benefits in Malaysia across the period from 1999 until 2019 by using time series regression. Inflation was found to have an inverse relationship with the pension benefits while the interest rate and dividend rate are positively related to the pension benefits. Inflation and interest rate are found to have a statistically significant impact on pension benefits. However, the result shows that dividend rate does not have significant impact on pension benefits. This study also used an Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to investigate the short-run and long-run relationship between pension benefits and independent variables namely inflation rate, interest rate and dividend rate as control variable. The findings revealed that there is a relationship between inflation and pension benefits in short-run but not in the long-run. In contrast, interest rate and dividend have both short-run and long-run effect on pension benefits. Thus, the findings could help retirees in carefully planning their retirement fund to sustain their living standard which include necessities such as housing, clothing, utilities and health care cost. The first 30 days after the onset of myocardial infarction (MI), also known as heart attack, is very crucial for the patients, as the risk of deaths during the period of time is considerably high. Using logistic regression, we will model the deaths within 30 days following MI, and see how the MI risk factors affect the probability of sudden deaths. A dataset for the regression consists of 28420 patients from several hospitals in Malaysia, provided by National Cardiovascular Disease Database (NCVD). The risk factors studied in this paper are age, gender, year of onset, smoking habit, BMI, diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol level. The regression results show that the risk of sudden deaths increase with age and diabetes, while BMI, hypertension and cholesterol level have inverse effects on sudden deaths rate. There are no significant changes in the sudden deaths rate observed for different gender, smoking habits and the year of onset. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
