Abstract Objective To perform an evidence-based evaluation of the clinical efficacy of Taijiquan, Baduanjin, Yijinjing and Wuqinxi in interventions for type 2 diabetes. Design A systematic review and network meta-analysis. Methods The comprehensive search included Chinese and other language databases such as the MEDLINE (PubMed), Web of Science, Excerpta Medica Database (Embase), The Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, China Scientific Journal Database, VIP and China Biomedical Literature Database (CBM). Clinical randomized controlled trials of four traditional Chinese exercise therapies in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, including Taijiquan, Baduanjin, Yijinjing and Wuqinxi, were retrieved. The search time was conducted from the establishment of the database to 30 October 2022. Two researchers screened the documents that met the inclusion criteria, extracted data according to the preset table and evaluated the methodological quality of the included studies according to the quality evaluation tools recommended by the Cochrane System Reviewer Manual V.5.1. The R language, Stata and ADDIS statistical software programs were used to conduct statistics and analysis of intervention measures. Results A total of 33 randomized controlled trials with 2609 patients were identified. All patients were from China. The results of the network meta-analysis showed that Taijiquan ranked the best for improving HbA1c, 2-h postprandial blood glucose (2hPG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and insulin sensitivity index indicator levels; Yijinjing reduced fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and total cholesterol (TC) indicator levels for the best probability ranking; Baduanjin improved the triglyceride (TG) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) probability ranking the most. When the training period was less than 12 weeks, Baduanjin had better effects in improving 2hPG, TC, TG, HDL-C and LDL-C indicator levels. Taijiquan had better effects in reducing FPG levels. When the training period was 12 weeks, the effect of Yijinjing in improving FPG, HbAlc, TC and HDL-C levels was better than that in other traditional Chinese exercise, and Taijiquan had better effects in improving 2hPG, TG and LDL-C indicator levels. When the training period was longer than 12 weeks, Taijiquan had better effects in improving FPG, HbAlc, 2hPG and LDL-C indicator levels, and Baduanjin had better effects in improving TC, TG and HDL-C indicator levels. Conclusion The four traditional Chinese exercise therapies can improve blood glucose levels, blood lipid levels and insulin-related indicators of type 2 diabetes to varying degrees. Studies have shown that Taijiquan has a better targeted treatment effect on type 2 diabetes. Systematic review registration CRD42020214786. Genetic transformation is widely used to improve target traits and to study gene function in wheat. However, transformation efficiency depends on the physiological status of the recipient genotype and that is affected by several factors including powdery mildew (PM) infection. The widely used recipient variety Fielder is very susceptible to PM. Therefore, it would be beneficial to develop PM resistant derivatives with high regeneration ability for use in genetic transformation. In the present study PM resistant lines CB037 and Pm97033 carrying genes Pm21 and PmV, respectively, were backcrossed to Fielder with selection for PM resistance. Five lines, NT89, NT90, NT154, and WT48 with Pm21 and line FL347 with PmV were developed, identified by molecular markers and genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) or fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH), and further subjected to detailed assessment of agronomic traits and regeneration ability following genetic transformation capacity. Lines FL347, WT48, NT89 and NT154 assessed as being equal to, or superior, to Fielder in regeneration and transformation ability are recommended as suitable materials for the replacement of Fielder for wheat gene transfer and genome editing study.

Background As a three-dimensional network involving glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), proteoglycans (PGs) and other glycoproteins, the role of extracellular matrix (ECM) in tumorigenesis is well revealed. Abnormal glycosylation in liver cancer is correlated with tumorigenesis and chemoresistance. However, the role of galactosyltransferase in HCC (hepatocellular carcinoma) is largely unknown. Methods Here, the oncogenic functions of B4GALT7 (beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase 7) were identified in HCC by a panel of in vitro experiments, including MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide), colony formation, transwell and flow cytometry assay. The expression of B4GALT7 in HCC cell lines and tissues were examined by qPCR (real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction) and western blot assay. The binding between B4GALT7 and miR-338-3p was examined by dual-luciferase reporter assay. Results B4GALT7 encodes galactosyltransferase I and it is highly expressed in HCC cells and human HCC tissues compared with para-tumor specimens. MiR-338-3p was identified to bind the 3′ UTR (untranslated region) of B4GALT7. Highly expressed miR-338-3p suppressed HCC cell invasive abilities and rescued the tumor-promoting effect of B4GALT7 in HCC. ShRNA (short hairpin RNA) mediated B4GALT7 suppression reduced HCC cell invasive abilities, and inhibited the expression of MMP-2 and Erk signaling. Conclusion These findings identified B4GALT7 as a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for HCC.

Background Patients often experience postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) after catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) because of the use of opioids for anaesthesia and analgesia during the procedure. Some clinical trials have demonstrated that acupuncture-assisted anaesthesia (AAA) reduces opioid consumption and prevents PONV. Although several studies have been conducted on AAA, its safety and efficacy in AF catheter ablation remain unclear due to small sample sizes and a paucity of methodologically rigorous designs. Therefore, this trial was designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of AAA in reducing PONV and morphine hydrochloride consumption during catheter ablation.Methods This single-centre, patient-blinded, randomised, non-penetrating sham-controlled trial will be conducted in China. A total of 100 patients will be randomly assigned to the AAA and conventional anaesthesia (CA) groups in a ratio of 1:1. The patients will receive AAA or CA plus sham acupuncture during catheter ablation and will be followed up for 30 days. The primary outcomes include the total amount of morphine hydrochloride consumed during catheter ablation and PONV within the first 24 hours after the procedure. The secondary outcomes include pain, nausea and vomiting, anxiety, patient’s ability to cope during catheter ablation, AF recurrence and quality of life, as assessed using the numeric rating scale. Adverse events will be recorded and their influence will be analysed at the end of the trial.Discussion This study will help in evaluating the safety and efficacy of AAA applied for AF catheter ablation in reducing opioid doses during the procedure and the occurrence of PONV.Ethics and dissemination The study has been approved by the Medical Ethics Committee of Second Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. BackgroundIn recent years, Chinese and international studies have reported that traditional Chinese exercises (TCEs) have good therapeutic effects on pulmonary function, endurance capacity, and quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, only a few studies have reported the differences in the efficacy of different TCEs in the treatment of COPD.ObjectiveThe objective of this study is to compare the effects of five TCEs on patients with COPD, including Taijiquan (TJQ), Baduanjin (BDJ), Liuzijue (LZJ), Wuqinxi (WQX), and Yijinjing (YJJ).MethodsAll randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of TCEs for patients with COPD were searched in PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Excerpt Medica Database (EMBASE), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Biology Medicine database (CBM), China Scientific Journal Database (VIP), and Wanfang database. The search period was from the establishment of each database to August 16, 2021. The quality of the included studies was assessed according to the Cochrane handbook of systematic review, and the network meta-analysis was conducted with R 4.0.2 (Ross Ihaka, Auckland, New Zealand) and ADDIS 1.16.8 (Gert vsn Valkenhoef, Groningen, Netherlands). The effect size was evaluated using the mean difference (MD) and 95% confidence interval (CI).ResultsA total of 53 RCTs involving 3,924 patients were included. The network meta-analysis results showed that WQX was the most effective in improving FEV1/FVC% score and 6-MWT score. The difference was statistically significant (MD = 8.62, 95% CI 4.46 to 13.04, P < 0.05), (MD = 74.29, 95% CI 47.67 to 102.24, P < 0.05). However, YJJ was the most effective in reducing the CAT score, and the difference was statistically significant (MD = −8.38, 95% CI −13.24 to −3.28, P < 0.05).ConclusionThe existing evidence shows that WQX has advantages over other TCEs in improving pulmonary function and endurance capacity in patients with COPD, while YJJ has advantages in improving the quality of life. Although TCEs show no significant adverse effects, more large-scale, double-blind, and high-quality RCTs are needed in the future to verify the findings of this study.Systematic Review Registration:https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/, identifier: CRD42021293640.

ObjectiveThis study aims to systematically evaluate the effect of non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) on neuropathic pain (NP) after spinal cord injury and compare the effects of two different NIBS.MethodsRandomized controlled trials (RCTs) about the effect of NIBS on NP after spinal cord injury (SCI) were retrieved from the databases of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang Data, VIP, and CBM from inception to September 2021. The quality of the trials was assessed, and the data were extracted according to the Cochrane handbook of systematic review. Statistical analysis was conducted with Stata (version 16) and R software (version 4.0.2).ResultsA total of 17 studies involving 507 patients were included. The meta-analysis showed that NIBS could reduce the pain score (SMD = −0.84, 95% CI −1.27 −0.40, P = 0.00) and the pain score during follow-up (SMD = −0.32, 95%CI −0.57 −0.07, P = 0.02), and the depression score of the NIBS group was not statistically significant than that of the control group (SMD = −0.43, 95%CI −0.89–0.02, P = 0.06). The network meta-analysis showed that the best probabilistic ranking of the effects of two different NIBS on the pain score was repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) (P = 0.62) > transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) (P = 0.38).ConclusionNIBS can relieve NP after SCI. The effect of rTMS on NP is superior to that of tDCS. We suggest that the rTMS parameters are 80–120% resting motion threshold and 5–20 Hz, while the tDCS parameters are 2 mA and 20 min. However, it is necessary to carry out more large-scale, multicenter, double-blind, high-quality RCT to explore the efficacy and mechanism of NIBS for NP after SCI.

Background The satisfactory prognostic indicator of gastric cancer (GC) patients after surgery is still lacking. Perioperative plasma extracellular vesicular programmed cell death ligand-1 (ePD-L1) has been demonstrated as a potential prognosis biomarker in many types of cancers. The prognostic value of postoperative plasma ePD-L1 has not been characterized.Methods We evaluated the prognostic value of preoperative, postoperative and change in plasma ePD-L1, as well as plasma soluble PD-L1, in short-term survival of GC patients after surgery. The Kaplan-Meier survival model and Cox proportional hazards models for both univariate and multivariate analyzes were used. And the comparison between postoperative ePD-L1 and conventional serum biomarkers (carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cancer antigen 19–9 (CA19-9) and CA72-4) in prognostic of GC patients was made.Results The prognostic value of postoperative ePD-L1 is superior to that of preoperative ePD-L1 on GC patients after resection, and also superior to that of conventional serum biomarkers (CEA, CA19-9 and CA72-4). The levels of postoperative ePD-L1 and ePD-L1 change are independent prognostic factors for overall survival and recurrence free survival of GC patients. High plasma level of postoperative ePD-L1 correlates significantly with poor survival, while high change in ePD-L1 level brings the significant survival benefit.Conclusions The level of plasma postoperative ePD-L1 could be considered as a candidate prognostic biomarker of GC patients after resection.

Background. Dysphagia is a common sequelae after stroke. Noninvasive brain stimulation (NIBS) is a tool that has been used in the rehabilitation process to modify cortical excitability and improve dysphagia. Objective. To systematically evaluate the effect of NIBS on dysphagia after stroke and compare the effects of two different NIBS. Methods. Randomized controlled trials about the effect of NIBS on dysphagia after stroke were retrieved from databases of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang Data, VIP, and CBM, from inception to June 2021. The quality of the trials was assessed, and the data were extracted according to the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions. A statistical analysis was carried out using RevMan 5.3 and ADDIS 1.16.8. The effect size was evaluated by using the standardized mean difference (SMD) and a 95% confidence interval (CI). Results. Ultimately, 18 studies involving 738 patients were included. Meta-analysis showed that NIBS could improve the dysphagia outcome and severity scale (DOSS) score (standard mean difference SMD=1.44, 95% CI 0.80 to 2.08, PtDCS P=0.48, the best probabilistic ranking of the SSA score is rTMS P=0.72>tDCS P=0.28, and the best probabilistic ranking of the PAS score is rTMS P=0.68>tDCS P=0.32. Conclusion. Existing evidence showed that NIBS could improve swallowing dysfunction and reduce the occurrence of aspiration after stroke, and that rTMS is better than tDCS. Limited by the number of included studies, more large-sample, multicenter, double-blind, high-quality clinical randomized controlled trials are still needed in the future to further confirm the results of this research.

High-field strain and its temperature stability of (1–x) K0.48Na0.52Nb0.96Ta0.04O3-xBaZrO3+8%MnO+3%ZrO2 (in mole, KNNT-xBZ+8Mn) ceramics sintered in reducing atmosphere are improved simultaneously via defect design in A and B site. There is a conducting type transition from n-type to p-type at x = 0.07. The BaZrO3 dopant not only induces the increase of defects (ZrNb′, BaNa·, BaK·) concentration, but also results in the increase of defect (MnNb‴) concentration, because more Mn ions as +2 oxidation state in ceramics is triggered by BaZrO3 doping modification. Defect dipoles (MnNb′′′−Vo··, ZrNb′-Vo··, BaNa·-VNa′, BaK·-VK′) in poled and aged ceramics enhance the reversibility of the non–180° domains switching, which increases the high-field strain of KNNT-xBZ+8Mn ceramics. The reversibility of non–180° domain switching can be preserved to high temperature due to stable defect dipoles (BaNa·-VNa′, BaK·-VK′) in A-site. The KNNT-xBZ+8Mn ceramics at x = 0.07 show the largest high-field strain coefficient (543 pm/V@20 kV/cm) and the highest temperature stability (125 °C). The KNNT-xBZ+8Mn ceramic is a lead-free material with great potential to be applied in the fabrication of multilayer ceramic actuators with Ni inner electrodes in the future.

Abstract DC distribution networks (DCDNs) possess the advantages of high power efficiency, low operation loss, and favourable control flexibility, and are regarded as an essential form of future power distribution systems. In order to increase the voltage transient performance of DCDNs against disturbances, this paper proposes a methodology for realising the active voltage support control of DCDNs based on virtual inertia coordination. Firstly, the impact of the inertia of DCDNs towards the transient voltage change is analysed, and the active voltage support mechanism considering the variable droop inertia control and virtual DC motor inertia (VDCMI) control is explored. Then, a time sequence coordination strategy based on the voltage grading of DCDNs is developed, and an adaptive inertia coefficient is designed to achieve the inertia adjustment in terms of the voltage sag and recovery processes. Using MATLAB/Simulink, a detailed model of the double‐terminal DCDNs is created to check the efficacy of the proposed approach. Different voltage disturbance scenarios are imitated, and the comparative simulations demonstrate that the proposed approach can fully utilise the inertia potential of the DCDNs to suppress the voltage sag and smooth the voltage recovery procedure. The proposed method's validity and feasibility can be well validated. Background: This study aimed to examine the associations of thyroid hormone sensitivity indices, including free triiodothyronine-to-free thyroxine (FT3/FT4) ratio, thyroid feedback quantile-based index by FT4 (TFQIFT4), thyroid-stimulating hormone index (TSHI), and thyrotrophic thyroxine resistance index (TT4RI) with all-cause mortality in euthyroid adults. Methods: The study included 6243 euthyroid adults from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2007–2012. FT3/FT4 ratio, TFQIFT4, TSHI, and TT4RI were calculated. The multivariable Cox proportional hazard regression, restricted cubic spline (RCS), and subgroup analysis were conducted. Results: Individuals in fourth quartile (Q4) had lower all-cause mortality than those in first quartile (Q1) of FT3/FT4 ratio (hazard ratio (HR): 0.70, 95% CI: 0.51, 0.94). Regarding TFQIFT4, individuals in Q4 of TFQIFT4 had a 43% higher all-cause mortality than those in Q1 (HR: 1.43, 95% CI: 1.05, 1.96) (P < 0.05, all). Compared with participants in Q1, no associations of TSHI and TT4RI with mortality were found. TFQIFT4 was linearly and positively associated with mortality. However, the FT3/FT4 ratio showed a U-shaped association with mortality. Conclusions: Increased risk for all-cause mortality was positively associated with TFQIFT4, suggesting that increased risk for all-cause mortality was associated with decreased central sensitivity to thyroid hormones. Furthermore, the FT3/ FT4 ratio showed a U-shaped association with mortality, with an inflection point at 0.5. However, more cohort studies are needed to validate the conclusions.

Abstract Free-viewpoint video allows the user to view objects from any virtual perspective, creating an immersive visual experience. This technology enhances the interactivity and freedom of multimedia performances. However, many free-viewpoint video synthesis methods hardly satisfy the requirement to work in real time with high precision, particularly for sports fields having large areas and numerous moving objects. To address these issues, we propose a free-viewpoint video synthesis method based on distance field acceleration. The central idea is to fuse multi-view distance field information and use it to adjust the search step size adaptively. Adaptive step size search is used in two ways: for fast estimation of multi-object three-dimensional surfaces, and synthetic view rendering based on global occlusion judgement. We have implemented our ideas using parallel computing for interactive display, using CUDA and OpenGL frameworks, and have used real-world and simulated experimental datasets for evaluation. The results show that the proposed method can render free-viewpoint videos with multiple objects on large sports fields at 25 fps. Furthermore, the visual quality of our synthetic novel viewpoint images exceeds that of state-of-the-art neural-rendering-based methods.

Abstract Over the past decade, the role of the 14–3-3 protein has received increasing interest. Seven subtypes of 14–3-3 proteins exhibit high homology; however, each subtype maintains its specificity. The 14–3-3ε protein is involved in various physiological processes, including signal transduction, cell proliferation, apoptosis, autophagy, cell cycle regulation, repolarization of cardiac action, cardiac development, intracellular electrolyte homeostasis, neurodevelopment, and innate immunity. It also plays a significant role in the development and progression of various diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, inflammatory diseases, neurodegenerative disorders, and cancer. These immense and various involvements of 14–3-3ε in diverse processes makes it a promising target for drug development. Although extensive research has been conducted on 14–3-3 dimers, studies on 14–3-3 monomers are limited. This review aimed to provide an overview of recent reports on the molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation of binding partners by 14–3-3ε, focusing on issues that could help advance the frontiers of this field. AbstractBackground We aimed to investigate the associations between thyroid hormone sensitivity indices and diabetes in euthyroid adults in the United States and China.Methods 2296 euthyroid adults from the NHANES in the United States and 8319 euthyroid adults from the SPEED-Shunde in China were involved. The thyroid sensitivity indices, namely TFQIFT4 and TFQIFT3, were calculated. Multivariable logistic regression, restricted cubic spline analysis, and general ordinal logit regression were utilized.Results In the NHANES, compared with participants in quartile 1st (Q1), those in Q4 of TFQIFT3 (OR 2.12, 95% CI (1.18, 3.81)) and those in Q3 of TFQIFT4 (OR 2.31, 95% CI (1.18, 4.53)) (both P for trend < 0.05) were associated with a greater prevalence of diabetes. In the SPEED-Shunde, compared with participants in Q1, those in Q4 of TFQIFT3 had a greater prevalence of diabetes (OR 1.36, 95% CI (1.11, 1.66) (P for trend < 0.05), while no significant associations between TFQIFT4 and diabetes were found.Conclusions TFQIFT3 was associated with a higher prevalence of diabetes both in the United States and China. However, TFQIFT4 was only associated with a higher prevalence of diabetes in the United States, not in China. Further prospective cohort studies are necessary to validate these findings.

As the frequency of extreme weather events continues to rise, there is an urgent need to strengthen the safe and stable operation of active distribution networks (ADNs), and it is of great value to establish highly resilient ADNs to withstand multi-faults caused by extreme weather events. This paper proposes a multi-period restoration approach for the resilience increase of ADNs by considering fault rapid recovery and component repair under typhoon disasters. Firstly, based on the structural reliability theory, the failure rate model of the main components is established, and in light of the system information entropy, the typical fault scenario selection strategy is designed to determine the branches with high fault probability. Then, according to the fault islanding division and network reconfiguration, a fault rapid recovery method is suggested for the ADNs, where the impact of typhoon disasters on the output features of distributed generators (DGs) are taken into account, and meanwhile, the network structure and the output power of the DGs are jointly optimized to minimize the operating cost of the ADNs. Further, a fault component repair model is formulated by adopting the adaptive ant colony algorithm, and a multi-period restoration approach is proposed for the ADNs to fulfill a rolling optimization of the network reconfiguration and fault component repair. The improved IEEE 33-node and IEEE 118-node systems are used for the approach verification, and the results show that the proposed approach can effectively improve the overall load restoration level and increase the component repair efficiency. Following a multi-criteria resilience evaluation system, the proposed approach enables the ADNs to more effectively withstand typhoon disasters, offering a resilience increase of 6.93 % and 32.24 % regarding the 33-node and 118-node systems.

An 8-year-old female child presented with patchy hair loss for 1 year, accompanied by eyebrow loss for 6 months. Microscopic examination of the hair confirmed the features of active stage alopecia areata, with a Severity of Alopecia Tool (SALT) score of 70%. The diagnosis was severe alopecia areata. The patient had a history of atopic dermatitis since infancy, with recurrent episodes of scattered papules and pruritus for 8 years. Initial treatment involved subcutaneous injections of dupilumab 300mg every 2 weeks for 6 months, resulting in a reduction of SALT score to 20% and improvement of atopic dermatitis symptoms. Discontinuation of Dupilumab and initiation of daily oral Baricitinib at a dose of 2mg for a duration of 5 months. According to the SALT score evaluation, the severity of hair loss was less than 10% and there was significant regrowth of hair. No significant adverse reactions were observed during the treatment period.

Abstract Tumour cell dormancy is critical for metastasis and resistance to chemoradiotherapy. Polyploid giant cancer cells (PGCCs) with giant or multiple nuclei and high DNA content have the properties of cancer stem cell and single PGCCs can individually generate tumours in immunodeficient mice. PGCCs represent a dormant form of cancer cells that survive harsh tumour conditions and contribute to tumour recurrence. Hypoxic mimics, chemotherapeutics, radiation and cytotoxic traditional Chinese medicines can induce PGCCs formation through endoreduplication and/or cell fusion. After incubation, dormant PGCCs can recover from the treatment and produce daughter cells with strong proliferative, migratory and invasive abilities via asymmetric cell division. Additionally, PGCCs can resist hypoxia or chemical stress and have a distinct protein signature that involves chromatin remodelling and cell cycle regulation. Dormant PGCCs form the cellular basis for therapeutic resistance, metastatic cascade and disease recurrence. This review summarises regulatory mechanisms governing dormant cancer cells entry and exit of dormancy, which may be used by PGCCs, and potential therapeutic strategies for targeting PGCCs.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a hematologic malignancy characterized by infiltration of the blood and bone marrow, exhibiting a low remission rate and high recurrence rate. Current research has demonstrated that class I HDAC inhibitors can downregulate anti-apoptotic proteins, leading to apoptosis of AML cells. In the present investigation, we conducted structural modifications of marine cytotoxin Santacruzamate A (SCA), a compound known for its inhibitory activity towards HDACs, resulting in the development of a novel series of potent class I HDACs hydrazide inhibitors. Representative hydrazide-based compound 25c exhibited concentration-dependent induction of apoptosis in AML cells as a single agent. Moreover, 25c exhibited a synergistic anti-AML effect when combined with Venetoclax, a clinical Bcl-2 inhibitor employed in AML therapy. This combination resulted in a more pronounced downregulation of anti-apoptotic proteins Mcl-1 and Bcl-xL, along with a significant upregulation of the pro-apoptotic protein cleaved-caspase3 and the DNA double-strand break biomarker γ-H2AX compared to monotherapy. These results highlighted the potential of 25c as a promising lead compound for AML treatment, particularly when used in combination with Venetoclax.

Abstract Background This study aims to evaluate the clinical efficacy and side effects of setting up a high-risk clinical target volume (CTV-hr) alongside simultaneous integrated boost intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT-SIB) in patients diagnosed with stage IIB-IVA cervical cancer. Methods This study retrospectively analysed patients with stage IIB-IVA cervical cancer who received radical radiotherapy at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University between November 2014 and September 2019. The patients were divided into experimental and control groups based on whether CTV-hr was set. All patients received a combined treatment of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The dosage for paclitaxel was 135 mg/m2, while for cisplatin it was 75 mg/m2 or for carboplatin it was AUC 4–6, given in a cycle of 21 days. Radiotherapy (RT) included external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) and intracavitary brachytherapy (ICBT). In the control group, positive lymph nodes (GTV-n) were treated at a dose of 58–62 Gy/26–28 fractions(f), while clinical target volumes (CTV) were treated with a dose of 46–48 Gy/26-28f. The experimental group received a simultaneous integrated boost (SIB) to CTV-hr at a dose of 54–56 Gy/26-28f, with the same CTV and GTV-n as the control group. Both groups were combined with brachytherapy with a total dose (EQD2, the equivalent dose in 2 Gy/f) of 80-90 Gy. The study measured objective remission rate (ORR), 3-year progression-free survival (PFS) rate, 3-year overall survival (OS) rate, recurrence rate, and side effects as endpoints. Results The study enrolled 217 patients, with 119 in the experimental group and 98 in the control group. Results showed that the experimental group had a higher 3-year OS rate (87.4% vs. 71.4%, p = 0.001) and 3-year PFS rate (72.3% vs. 51.0%, p = 0.000) compared to the control group. Additionally, the experimental group had significantly lower rates of overall recurrence (26.1% vs. 50.0%, p = 0.003), in-field recurrence (15.1% vs. 36.7%, p = 0.000), and out-field recurrence(13.4% vs. 35.7%, p = 0.000) compared to the control group. All observed differences were found to be statistically significant. However, the experimental and control groups had no statistically significant difference in ORR and radiological side effects, such as radiation cystitis and enteritis (p > 0.05). Conclusions Setting CTV-hr and performing IMRT-SIB on patients with stage IIB-IVA cervical cancer effectively increased the 3-year OS rate, 3-year PFS rate and reduced recurrence rate, with no significant differences in side effects.

Abstract The nasal mucosa is constantly exposed to inhaled pathogens and is the first defence against respiratory infections. Here, we investigated the structural and compositional characteristics of the nasal mucosa of commercial pigs at various growth stages. The epithelial thickness, number of capillaries, and secretion function of the nasal mucosa dramatically increased with age; however, underlying lymphoid follicles in the respiratory region were rarely observed across the growth stages. The nasal mucosa was explored at the epithelial, immunological, and biological (commensal microbiota) barriers. In the epithelial barrier, the proliferative capacity of the nasal epithelia and the expression of tight junction proteins were high after birth; however, they decreased significantly during the suckling stage and increased again during the weaning stage. In the immunological barrier, most pattern recognition receptors were expressed at very low levels in neonatal piglets, and the innate immune cell distribution was lower. During the suckling stage, increased expression of Toll-like receptor (TLR) 2 and TLR4 was observed; however, TLR3 expression decreased. TLR expression and innate immune cell quantity significantly increased from the weaning to the finishing stage. In the biological barrier, Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, and Bacteroidetes comprised the dominant phyla in neonatal piglets. A dramatic decrease in nasal microbial diversity was observed during the suckling stage, accompanied by an increase in potentially pathogenic bacteria. Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, and Firmicutes were identified as the core phyla of the nasal microbiota; among these, the three dominant genera, Actinobacter, Moraxella, and Bergerella, may be opportunistic pathogens in the respiratory tract. These characteristics comprise an essential reference for respiratory infection prevention at large-scale pig farms.

Over time, natural materials have evolved to be lightweight, high-strength, tough, and damage-tolerant due to their unique biological structures. Therefore, combining biological inspiration and structural design would provide traditional materials with a broader range of performance and applications. Here, the application of an ink-based three-dimensional (3D) printing strategy to the structural design of a Lunar regolith simulant-based geopolymer (HIT-LRS-1 GP) was first reported, and high-precision carbon fiber/quartz sand-reinforced biomimetic patterns inspired by the cellular sandwich structure of plant stems were fabricated. This study demonstrated how different cellular sandwich structures can balance the structure–property relationship and how to achieve unprecedented damage tolerance for a geopolymer composite. The results presented that components based on these biomimetic architectures exhibited stable non-catastrophic fracture characteristics regardless of the compression direction, and each structure possessed effective damage tolerance and anisotropy of mechanical properties. The results showed that the compressive strengths of honeycomb sandwich patterns, triangular sandwich patterns, wave sandwich patterns, and rectangular sandwich patterns in the Y-axis (Z-axis) direction were 15.6, 17.9, 11.3, and 20.1 MPa (46.7, 26.5, 23.8, and 34.4 MPa), respectively, and the maximum fracture strain corresponding to the above four structures could reach 10.2%, 6.7%, 5.8%, and 5.9% (12.1%, 13.7%, 13.6%, and 13.9%), respectively.

In this paper, a delayed diffusive predator-prey model with the Allee effect and nonlocal competition in prey and hunting cooperation in predators is proposed. The local stability of coexisting equilibrium and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are studied by analyzing the eigenvalue spectrum. The property of Hopf bifurcation is also studied by the center manifold theorem and normal form method. Through numerical simulation, the analysis results are verified, and the influence of these parameters on the model is also obtained. Firstly, increasing the Allee effect parameter $ \beta $ and hunting cooperation parameter $ \alpha $ is not conducive to the stability of the coexistence equilibrium point under some parameters. Secondly, the time delay can also affect the stability of coexisting equilibrium and induce periodic solutions. Thirdly, the nonlocal competition in prey can affect the dynamic properties of the predator-prey model and induce new dynamic phenomena (stably spatially inhomogeneous bifurcating periodic solutions).
