Abstract Direct current optimal power flow (DC‐OPF) problems need to be solved more frequently to maintain safety and economic power system operation. Traditional solvers take too much time to get optimal results. To overcome it, a new self‐supervised augmented Lagrangian neural network (ALNN) is proposed to solve DC‐OPF problem. The proposed ALNN consists of two neural networks: the control net and the penalty net. The control net predicts active power of generators; the penalty net updates the Lagrangian multipliers. The equality constraints are embedded into the control net to guarantee no equality violations. The generalized reduced gradient method is used to reduce theviolations of inequality constraint. The effectiveness of the proposed model is demonstrated on IEEE 118‐bus. The results show that with the help of equality embedding, the equality constraints are always satisfied, which in turn improves the feasibility of ALNN. Compared to the state‐of‐art models, the proposed model has higher feasibility and less constraint violations without comprising optimality. What is more, most of the inactive constraints can be found during the training process and then they are used to speed up the post‐processing part.

Abstract Background The internal heterogeneity of breast cancer, notably the tumor microenvironment (TME) consisting of malignant and non-malignant cells, has been extensively explored in recent years. The cells in this complex cellular ecosystem activate or suppress tumor immunity through phenotypic changes, secretion of metabolites and cell-cell communication networks. Macrophages, as the most abundant immune cells within the TME, are recruited by malignant cells and undergo phenotypic remodeling. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) exhibit a variety of subtypes and functions, playing significant roles in impacting tumor immunity. However, their precise subtype delineation and specific function remain inadequately defined. Methods The publicly available single-cell transcriptomes of 49,141 cells from eight breast cancer patients with different molecular subtypes and stages were incorporated into our study. Unsupervised clustering and manual cell annotation were employed to accurately classify TAM subtypes. We then conducted functional analysis and constructed a developmental trajectory for TAM subtypes. Subsequently, the roles of TAM subtypes in cell-cell communication networks within the TME were explored using endothelial cells (ECs) and T cells as key nodes. Finally, analyses were repeated in another independent publish scRNA datasets to validate our findings for TAM characterization. Results TAMs are accurately classified into 7 subtypes, displaying anti-tumor or pro-tumor roles. For the first time, we identified a new TAM subtype capable of proliferation and expansion in breast cancer-TUBA1B+ TAMs playing a crucial role in TAMs diversity and tumor progression. The developmental trajectory illustrates how TAMs are remodeled within the TME and undergo phenotypic and functional changes, with TUBA1B+ TAMs at the initial point. Notably, the predominant TAM subtypes varied across different molecular subtypes and stages of breast cancer. Additionally, our research on cell-cell communication networks shows that TAMs exert effects by directly modulating intrinsic immunity, indirectly regulating adaptive immunity through T cells, as well as influencing tumor angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis through ECs. Conclusions Our study establishes a precise single-cell atlas of breast cancer TAMs, shedding light on their multifaceted roles in tumor biology and providing resources for targeting TAMs in breast cancer immunotherapy.

Bacillus licheniformis is a significant industrial microorganism. Traditional gene editing techniques relying on homologous recombination often exhibit low efficiency due to their reliance on resistance genes. Additionally, the established CRISPR gene editing technology, utilizing Cas9 endonuclease, faces challenges in achieving simultaneous knockout of multiple genes. To address this limitation, the CRISPR-Cpf1 system has been developed, enabling multiplexed gene editing across various microorganisms. Key to the efficient gene editing capability of this system is the rigorous screening of highly effective expression elements to achieve conditional expression of protein Cpf1. In this study, we employed mCherry as a reporter gene and harnessed Pmal for regulating the expression of Cpf1 to establish the CRISPR-Cpf1 gene editing system in Bacillus licheniformis. Our system achieved a 100 % knockout efficiency for the single gene vpr and up to 80 % for simultaneous knockout of the double genes epr and mpr. Furthermore, the culture of a series of protease-deficient strains revealed that the protease encoded by aprE contributed significantly to extracellular enzyme activity (approximately 80 %), whereas proteases encoded by vpr, epr, and mpr genes contributed to a smaller proportion of extracellular enzyme activity. These findings provide support for effective molecular modification and metabolic regulation in industrial organisms.

Abstract Deep learning techniques were used in ophthalmology to develop artificial intelligence (AI) models for predicting the short-term effectiveness of anti-VEGF therapy in patients with macular edema secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO-ME). 180 BRVO-ME patients underwent pre-treatment FFA scans. After 3 months of ranibizumab injections, CMT measurements were taken at baseline and 1-month intervals. Patients were categorized into good and poor prognosis groups based on macular edema at the 4th month follow-up. FFA-Net, a VGG-based classification network, was trained using FFA images from both groups. Class activation heat maps highlighted important locations. Benchmark models (DesNet-201, MobileNet-V3, ResNet-152, MansNet-75) were compared for training results. Performance metrics included accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, F1 score, and ROC curves. FFA-Net predicted BRVO-ME treatment effect with an accuracy of 88.63% and an F1 score of 0.89, with a sensitivity and specificity of 79.40% and 71.34%, respectively.The AUC of the ROC curve for the FFA-Net model was 0.71. The use of FFA based on deep learning technology has feasibility in predicting the treatment effect of BRVO-ME. The FFA-Net model constructed with the VGG model as the main body has good results in predicting the treatment effect of BRVO-ME. The typing of BRVO in FFA may be an important factor affecting the prognosis.

A newly discovered peculiar microstructure at the rolling contact surface of bainitic rail steel has been investigated via positron annihilation technique and X-ray diffraction. The results show that the nanocrystalline layer is produced through low-temperature dynamic recrystallization. After hydrogen charged, low temperature dynamic recrystallization has been inhibited by hydrogen, and nanocrystalline layer at the surface decreases or disappears.

The optimization of surface irrigation variables, i.e., the selection of the optimal combination of the inflow rate per unit width (q) and cutoff time (tco), is essential for obtaining high performance. The main objective of this study was to optimize irrigation variables by considering different irrigation requirements and the total loss model, which includes the irrigation water loss and crop yield loss. A correction factor for the irrigation quota (Cf) was introduced to achieve this objective. Cf considers different irrigation requirements, as it represents the ratio of the actual irrigation quota for certain irrigation to the designed irrigation quota (Dreq). Uniform design theory was used to determine random combinations of q and Cf from a selected range. The q value ranged from 3 to 9 L m−1. s−1. Because the actual irrigation quota does not greatly deviate from the design irrigation quota, Cf should reach approximately 1.00. The selected Cf ranged from 0.80 to 1.38. To obtain higher crop yields, lower economic losses, and more reasonable design variables for surface irrigation, a total loss model for uneven border irrigation was established, which was defined as the objective function to optimize border irrigation design—the total loss model was combined with uniform design theory and the WinSRFR model to analyze different scenarios. The results showed that Cf has a clear meaning and exerts a favorable application effect on the irrigation performance evaluation indicators and can be used to design border irrigation systems. Based on the total loss model for uneven border irrigation, the optimal irrigation variables q and Cf for design irrigation quotas of 60, 80, and 100 mm are q = 6.22 L m−1. s−1 and Cf = 1.17; q = 4.60 L m−1. s−1 and Cf = 1.14; and q = 3.80 L m−1. s−1 and Cf = 1.10, respectively. Compared with the conventional design results, q in the optimal design results based on the loss model decreased, Cf increased, and the total loss significantly decreased. Optimization of irrigation variables based on the border irrigation loss model could ensure favorable irrigation performance evaluation indicators, improve the water use efficiency, provide higher crop yields, and minimize the total economic losses caused by uneven irrigation.

During freeze–thaw cycling, aggregates undergo a dynamic change in breakdown–formation (turnover), however, how the turnover occurs between aggregates of various particle sizes is not clear. To clarify the influence of freeze–thaw cycling on the dynamic changes in the particle size of soil aggregates, soil aggregates from the Black Soil Region of Northeast China were selected as the research objects. The study conducted in situ dynamic monitoring experiments, innovatively applying the rare earth oxide (REO) tracer method to natural conditions of freeze–thaw cycles (autumn freeze–thaw period, freezing period, and spring freeze–thaw period), accurately tracking the turnover paths and quantifying the turnover rates between aggregates of various particle sizes. The results revealed that the total value of the formation paths of the 2–5 mm aggregates and 0.25–2 mm aggregates increased during the autumn freeze–thaw period. The number of freeze–thaw cycles and accumulated snowfall were significantly positively correlated with aggregate stability, with an increase in the number of freeze–thaw cycles and accumulated snowfall resulting in an increase in the proportion of aggregates > 0.25 mm, which improved aggregate stability. In addition, the total value of the breakdown path of macro-aggregates increased during the spring freeze–thaw cycling period. Soil moisture was significantly negatively correlated with aggregate stability, with increased soil moisture resulting in a decrease in the percentage of aggregates > 0.25 mm, which resulted in a decrease in aggregate stability. The study can provide a reference understanding for the effects of freeze–thaw cycles on the structure of black soil and provide a theoretical basis for improving the quality of arable land.

This paper investigates the surface enhancement treatment of 12Cr17Mn6Ni5N steel weld joints using the Strengthened Grinding Process (SGP) and explores its effect on their surface characteristics and tensile performance. The study begins by examining the influence of different SGP durations on the weld joints' surface morphology, microhardness, and residual stress. Subsequently, the tensile properties of the SGP-treated samples are analyzed and the potential mechanisms by which SGP enhances the tensile performance of 12Cr17Mn6Ni5N steel weld joints are discussed. The results reveal that SGP treatment increases the maximum microhardness of 12Cr17Mn6Ni5N steel weld joints to 519.3 HV, marking a 109.9 % improvement as compared to untreated samples. Additionally, the samples’ surface residual stress was changed from residual tensile stress (46.5 MPa) to residual compressive stress (−1253.1 MPa). The SGP-treated samples exhibit a tensile strength of 671.43 MPa, marking an 8.51 % increase as compared to the untreated samples, while also achieving a simultaneous elongation of 16.42 %. The research demonstrates that SGP is an effective method for enhancing the tensile performance of specific mechanical components.

ObjectivePulmonary artery hypertension (PAH) poses a significant challenge due to its limited therapeutic options and high mortality rates. The ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-Mas axis plays a pivotal role in regulating blood pressure and inhibiting myocardial remodeling. However, the precise mechanistic links between the ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-Mas axis and PAH remain poorly understood. This study aimed to elucidate the involvement of the ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-Mas axis in the development of PAH.MethodsPAH was induced in mice using Sugen5416/hypoxia, PAAT/PET ratio and PA were detected using cardiac ultrasound; inflammation related factors such as MCP-1, TNF, IL-10and IL-12p70 were detected in intestines using cytometric bead array (CBA) kits; histopathological and morphological changes in lung and intestinal tissues were assessed via HE staining and Masson staining to evaluate the progression of PAH. Immunohistochemistry and western blotting were employed to determine the expression levels of two tight junction proteins, occludin and ZO-1, in intestinal tissues. Additionally, 16rRNA sequencing and non-targeted metabolomics by LC-MS/MS techniques were utilized to investigate the impact of the ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-Mas axis on microbial diversity and metabolomics of intestinal contents.ResultsActivation of the ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-Mas axis improves heart function, reduces intestines inflammatory factors and ameliorates pathological and histological alterations in SuHx mice. This activation notably upregulated the expression of occludin and ZO-1 proteins in intestinal tissues and promoted the proliferation of SCFA-producing bacteria genera, such as g_Candidatus_Saccharimonas. Furthermore, it enhanced the abundance of beneficial metabolites, including tryptophan and butyric acid.ConclusionThe findings suggest that modulation of the ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-Mas axis can alleviate PAH by regulating intestinal microbes and metabolites. These results highlight the potential of the ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-Mas axis as a promising therapeutic target for clinical management of PAH.

ABSTRACT: Owing to rich in vitamins, proteins, mineral elements, and active substances, the highly medicinal and economic value of mung bean seeds have been proven to be beneficial to human. In order to fully identificate and innovative utilization of excellent germplasm resources for mung bean yield and quality breeding, the genetic diversity level of eight seed phenotypic traits of 302 mung bean germplasm resources were comprehensively evaluated by diversity analysis, correlation analysis, principal component analysis (PCA), and cluster analysis. The results showed the genetic diversity of eight seed phenotypic traits of 302 mung bean germplasm resources with a Shannon diversity Index ranging from 0.25 to 2.09. For most traits, their coefficient of variation (CV) were more than 10% with the highest being seed shape (41.51%). Correlation analysis showed that the 100-seed weight had extremely positive correlations with seed size, seed length, seed width, and seed thickness. PCA of seed phenotypic traits showed that the cumulative contribution rate of the first three principal components was 78.551%. These principal components included seed width, seed coat gloss and seed color. The 302 mung bean germplasm resources were divided into eight groups by cluster analysis. A total of 140 germplasm resources with large-seed were selected from group I and group II, of which 9 germplasm resources in group II were likely to be high-yield varieties. Overall, this study not only indicated sufficient variation among the studied germplasm resources, but also provided a theoretical basis for the selection, utilization and hybrid breeding of mung bean germplasm resources.

Summary: Background: There is ongoing debate about whether intraoperative parathyroid autotransplantation effectively prevents permanent hypoparathyroidism after thyroidectomy. This study aims to examine its impact on postoperative parathyroid function and determine the best autotransplantation strategy. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 194 patients who underwent total thyroidectomy with central lymph node dissection (CLND) for papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Patients were divided into four groups based on the number of parathyroid autotransplants during surgery: Group 1 (none, n = 43), Group 2 (1 transplant, n = 60), Group 3 (2 transplants, n = 67), and Group 4 (3 transplants, n = 24). Various clinical parameters were collected and compared among the groups. Results: Parathyroid autotransplantation was identified as a risk factor for temporary hypoparathyroidism (OR: 1.74; 95% CI: 1.27–2.39, P = 0.001) and a protective factor for permanent hypoparathyroidism (OR: 0.27; 95% CI: 0.14–0.55, P

Abstract Background Malnutrition and subsequent alterations in body composition (BC), particularly sarcopenia, are common but not yet elucidated in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); we aimed to detail the changes in BC and the characteristics of co‐occurrence of malnutrition and sarcopenia in IBD patients and to investigate its effect on quality of life. Methods This study was a multicentre, prospective, observational study involving four tertiary referral hospitals in China. The following data were collected from consecutive IBD inpatients: demographic information, medical history, recent weight change, handgrip strength (HGS) and BC parameters by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). Nutritional assessments were performed through stepwise screening (Nutritional Risk Screening 2002) and diagnosis (World Health Organization‐related body mass index [BMI], subjective global assessment, European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism 2015 and Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition [GLIM] criteria). The quality of life was assessed by the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire. IBD patients were compared with 1:1 sex‐, age‐ and BMI‐matched healthy controls (MHC). Results A total of 238 IBD patients (177 Crohn's disease [CD] and 61 ulcerative colitis [UC]), 68.5% male, with a mean age of 38.5 ± 14.0 years and a mean BMI of 19.8 ± 3.5 kg/m2, were recruited. This paper presents a new methodology for determining the optimal coefficients of a PID controller for a four-switch buck–boost (FSBB) converter. The main objective of this research is to improve the performance of FSBB converters by fine-tuning the parameters of the PID controller using the newly developed Aquila Optimizer (AO). PID controllers are widely recognized for their simple yet effective control in FSBB converters. However, to further improve the efficiency and reliability of the control system, the PID control parameters must be optimized. In this context, the application of the AO algorithm proves to be a significant advance. By optimizing the PID coefficients, the dynamic responsiveness of the system can be improved, thus reducing the response time. In addition, the robustness of the control system is enhanced, which is essential to ensure stable and reliable operation under varying conditions. The use of AOs plays a key role in maintaining system stability and ensuring the proper operation of the control system even under challenging conditions. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness and potential of the proposed method, the performance of the AO-optimized PID controller was compared with that of PID controllers tuned by other optimization algorithms in the same test environment. The results show that the AO outperforms the other optimization algorithms in terms of dynamic response and robustness, thus validating the efficiency and correctness of the proposed method. This work highlights the advantages of using the Aquila Optimizer in the PID tuning of FSBB converters, providing a promising solution for improving system performance.

The problem of cultivated land soil quality in the Huaihe River Basin has become increasingly prominent. How to accurately and quantitatively evaluate the soil quality of regional cultivated land and realize its efficient use has become an urgent problem. In order to explore the spatial autocorrelation and variation in soil nutrients in cultivated land in the plain of Fengtai County in the Huaihe River Basin, a total of 306 soil samples and mature wheat samples were collected in the study area to analyze soil pH, total nitrogen (TN), available nitrogen (AN), available phosphorus (AP), available potassium (AK) and slow-release potassium (SK) content and wheat biomass, and combined with geostatistical methods and GIS technology. The Kriging interpolation method and Moram‘s I index method were systematically analyzed. Principal component analysis (PCA) and Pearson correlation analysis were used to establish the minimum data set (MDS) of soil quality, which was used to calculate the soil quality index (SQI) and determine the key factors affecting soil quality. The results showed that the soil pH was in weak variation, and the other nutrient indexes were in medium variation. The spatial variability of soil-available potassium nutrients was affected by random factors such as human activities and structural factors such as soil parent materials. The spatial autocorrelation of organic matter, total nitrogen, alkali-hydrolyzable nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium and mitigation potassium was weak, which was mainly affected by random factors such as human activities. An unequivocal positive spatial nexus was discerned across all nutrients. Cumulatively, the nutrient dispersion across the investigated territory was somewhat diffuse, manifesting in a mosaic pattern with pronounced zonal nutrient allocation disparities in the meridional, median, and septentrional segments. An explicit latitudinal dichotomy delineating zones of nutrient opulence and paucity was also observed. These insights can pave the way for tailored fertilization strategies and judicious pedological stewardship in Fengtai County.

Based on the adaptive control structure of neural networks, this paper proposes a novel output voltage control strategy for DC converters. The strategy regulates the inductor current to maintain a constant voltage by adjusting the duty cycle of four-switch buck—boost (FSBB) converters. A nonlinear average model for the FSBB converter, derived from its energy consumption, is introduced, and its effectiveness is demonstrated through simulations. The simulations confirm that the FSBB converter enables zero-voltage switching (ZVS) of the four switches across the entire operating voltage range. The comparative simulation results show that the proposed control strategy achieves faster voltage regulation while ensuring ZVS, leading to improved converter performance across the full power range.

Smart Grids are constructed using control, networking, and advanced computing technologies. Malicious attacks are still a possibility for the grid, although there are now insufficiently fast and accurate detection methods. Cybercrimes affecting the security of the smart grid include the compromise of vital client data by attackers, the spread of viruses, cybersecurity mistakes, and vulnerabilities in distributed systems. In order to provide security in a smart grid context, a SMART (Smart Attack detectoR Technique) framework is developed in this paper. The attacker first sends the request to the risk identification, which will identify the request's original source. Risk estimation calculates the degree of risk and gives processing decisions. Following that, word embedding is used to complete the pre-processing. Information will be prohibited if the process is found to be too vulnerable according to CNN-BiLSTM categorization criteria. The data will be sent to the smart grid automatically if the procedure is low vulnerable and there is no assault. A MATLAB simulator is used to implement the suggested approach. In comparison to the presently used CNN-LSTM [10], SCADA [13], and GOOSE [14] approaches, which have success rates of 19.09 %, 32.22 %, and 57.47 %, respectively, the experimental findings indicate that the suggested SMART strategy has a 99 % success rate, which is very high.

The decomposition of maize residues has a vital influence on soil aggregate buildup–breakdown (turnover) processes, but the following remain unclear: i) which size aggregates of Mollisols are primarily affected by the decomposition of maize residues and ii) the turnover proportions of these aggregates. In the study, rare earth oxides (REOs) were used to trace and quantify the buildup–breakdown paths of soil aggregate fractions during the whole incubation time. The two treatments were designed as follows: i) REO-labelled soil with maize residues addition (maize residue treatment) and ii) REO-labelled soil without maize residues addition (control, CK). The soil respiration, aggregate size distribution, REO concentrations, SOC and pH were measured during 84 days of incubation. The feed legislation allows the use of fish protein hydrolysates in feed for the same species in which it came from, since enzymatic hydrolysis degrades the proteins and eliminates potential prions, which have caused disease in mammals, but not in fish. In this trial, we investigated the effects of partially replacing dietary fishmeal (FM) with salmon protein hydrolysate (FPH) on the intestinal gene expression and microbiota. Atlantic salmon post smolts were either fed a control diet containing 30% fishmeal (FM), a 20% FM diet with 9% salmon hydrolysate (FPH-09) or a 10% FM diet with 18% salmon hydrolysate (FPH-18), until doubling of weight. Gene expression analysis by RNA sequencing of pyloric caeca (PC), midgut (MG) and hindgut (HG) revealed a downregulation of immunological genes involved in inflammation in the intestine of FPH-18 fed salmon compared to salmon fed the FM control. The gene expression of paralogous peptide transporters (PepT) was analyzed by real time quantitative PCR in PC, anterior midgut (AMG), posterior midgut (PMG) and HG of salmon fed all the three diets. The PepT1b paralog had highest relative expression levels in PC and AMG, suggesting that PepT1b is most important for peptide uptake in the anterior intestine. PepT1a was also mainly expressed in the PC and AMG, but at lower levels than PepT1b and PepT2b in the AMG. The PepT2b paralog had high levels of expression in AMG, PMG and HG indicating that it contributed significantly to peptide uptake in the posterior part of the gastrointestinal tract. The gut microbiota in the mucosa and digesta of the MG and HG, were dominated by the phyla Cyanobacteria and Proteobacteria, but also Firmicutes were present. The only dietary effect on the microbiota was the higher prevalence of the phyla Spirochaetes in the mucosa of FPH-18 fed salmon compared to the FM fed salmon. In conclusion, replacing FM with salmon hydrolysate reduced the expression of inflammatory markers in the Atlantic salmon intestine suggesting improved health benefits. The reduced inflammation may be related to the reduced FM content, potentially bioactive peptides in the hydrolysate and/or the altered gut microbial composition.

Background and purposePostinterventional rupture of intracranial aneurysms (IAs) remains a severe complication after flow diverter treatment. However, potential hemodynamic mechanisms underlying independent predictors for postinterventional rupture of IAs remain unclear. In this study, we employed arteriography-derived radiomic features to predict this complication.MethodsWe included 64 patients who underwent pipeline flow diversion for intracranial aneurysms, distinguishing between 16 patients who experienced postinterventional rupture and 48 who did not. We performed propensity score matching based on clinical and morphological factors to match these patients with 48 patients with postinterventional unruptured IAs at a 1:3 ratio. Postinterventional digital subtraction angiography were used to create five arteriography-derived perfusion parameter maps and then radiomics features were obtained from each map. Informative features were selected through the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator method with five-fold cross-validation. Subsequently, radiomics scores were formulated to predict the occurrence of postinterventional IA ruptures. Prediction performance was evaluated with the training and test datasets using area under the curve (AUC) and confusion matrix-derived metrics.ResultsOverall, 1,459 radiomics features were obtained, and six were selected. The resulting radiomics scores had high efficacy in distinguishing the postinterventional rupture group. The AUC and Youden index were 0.912 (95% confidence interval: 0.767–1.000) and 0.847 for the training dataset, respectively, and 0.938 (95% confidence interval, 0.806–1.000) and 0.800 for the testing dataset, respectively.ConclusionRadiomics scores generated using arteriography-derived radiomic features effectively predicted postinterventional IA ruptures and may aid in differentiating IAs at high risk of postinterventional rupture.

This paper used ultrasonic strengthening grinding (USGP) to process 254SMo welded joints. The mechanical properties of processed and unmachined samples of welded joints, including grain size, dislocation, microhardness, residual stress, and high-temperature oxidation resistance at 900 °C, were investigated. The results indicate that the grains of the processed samples exhibit significant refinement and a high dislocation density and that the maximum microhardness and residual compressive stress are 392.5 HV0.3 and −633.44 MPa, respectively. In addition, the processed sample exhibits excellent oxidation at high temperatures. At 900 °C, the mass gain of the USGP-processed sample is reduced by 47.5 % compared to its mass gain prior to processing. These results highlight the potential of this method in improving the high-temperature resistance of various mechanical components, particularly those made from special materials.

In the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) control system used proportional integral (PI) controller, a large resonance in high-frequency band will be generated through the PI controller. Additionally, high amount alternating current harmonics will be introduced to the PMSM caused by the inverter nonlinearity and other factors, which cannot be eliminated by PI controller. To eliminate the current harmonics in the control system, a novel current dual closed-loop scheme used the PI controller on the current inner loop and the repetitive controller on the current outer loop (cascaded PI-RC controller) is proposed in this paper. First of all, the reference current signal is added to the inner current loop, thus, the satisfied dynamic performance to the control system can be guaranteed. And then, the frequency characteristic and the resonance of the control plant are analysed. Furthermore, in order to suppress the periodic current harmonics for this PMSM, the internal model element and the compensator are studied for the current outer loop controller. Consequently, the stability of the proposed cascaded PI-RC controller is actual by Lyapunov theory. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed current dual closed-loop scheme is verified by simulation results.

The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) driven by the two-level voltage inverters features some drawbacks, such as dead-zone time, nonlinearity and other factors, leading to high amount harmonics in the stator currents. Additionally, the current harmonics amplitude will be decayed with the increasing of the harmonic order, and the main current harmonic components can be illustrated as 6th control signal harmonics. To improve the current harmonics suppression efficiency and maintain the simplicity of the PMSM driven system, the relationships between traditional repetitive controller and bandpass filter are analysed firstly. And then, a proportional–integral​ discrete Fourier transform repetitive control (PI-DFT-RC) scheme is proposed through adopting independent band-pass filters of state frequencies, which can provide infinite gain in stated frequency. Secondly, the discrete periodic signals for RC controller are analysed, and the lead step for DFT-RC controller is also studied, which can increase the signal tracking accuracy of the driven system. Furthermore, the stability of the driven system used PI-DFT-RC controller is analysed through Lyapunov theory. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed PI-DFT-RC controller is verified by simulation results.

To improve the wear properties of magnesium alloys, a novel technique for preparing coatings using ultrasonic shot peening was developed, and tungsten carbide (WC) coatings were prepared for the first time on the magnesium alloys. The surface morphology, microstructure characteristics, and wear properties were investigated. The findings showed that this method deposited a WC coating with a thickness of 20 μm and a surface hardness of 3.24 GPa on the substrate. A 5 μm composite layer and a 425 μm thick hardened layer existed beneath the coating. The formation mechanism of the hardened layer can be interpreted as dislocation slip and grain refinement, resulting in a hardness of 1.96 GPa at the layer's top. The treated sample exhibited excellent wear resistance due to the high hardness of the WC coating and hardened layer, with a wear volume of 0.737 × 108 μm3, representing a decrease of 49.52% and 35.29% compared to the untreated and ultrasonic shot peening one. The research provides a novel solution to improve the wear properties of magnesium alloys, and it contributes to enhancing magnesium alloys' applicability in practical engineering fields such as aerospace, new energy vehicles, and biomedicine while also contributing to meeting the demand for lightweight manufacturing in these fields.

Bacillus licheniformis is recognised as an exceptional expression platform in biomanufacturing due to its ability to produce high-value products. Consequently, metabolic engineering of B. licheniformis is increasingly pursued to enhance its utility as a biomanufacturing vehicle. Effective B. licheniformis cell factories require promoters that enable regulated expression of target genes. This review discusses recent advancements in the characterisation, synthesis, and engineering of B. licheniformis promoters. We highlight the application of constitutive promoters, quorum sensing promoters, and inducible promoters in protein and chemical synthesis. Additionally, we summarise efforts to expand the promoter toolbox through hybrid promoter engineering, transcription factor-based inducible promoter engineering, and ribosome binding site (RBS) engineering.

Ferroptosis is a form of regulated cell death characterized by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation, affecting physiological and pathological processes. Fatty liver disease associated with metabolic dysfunction is a common pathological condition in aquaculture. However, the exact role and mechanism of ferroptosis in its pathogenesis and progression remains unclear. In this study, an experiment was conducted using different dietary lipid levels in the feeding of largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) for 11 weeks. The results revealed that the growth performance and whole-body protein content significantly increased with the elevation of dietary lipid levels up to 12%. The activities of antioxidant enzymes as well as the content of GSH (glutathione) in the liver initially increased but later declined as the lipid levels increased; the contents of MDA (malondialdehyde) and GSSG (oxidized glutathione) demonstrated an opposite trend. Moreover, elevating lipid levels in the diet significantly increased liver Fe2+ content, as well as the expressions of TF (Transferrin), TFR (Transferrin receptor), ACSL4 (acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4), LPCAT3 (lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase 3), and LOX12 (Lipoxygenase-12), while decreasing the expressions of GPX4 (glutathione peroxidase 4) and SLC7A11 (Solute carrier family 7 member 11). In conclusion, the optimal lipid level is 12.2%, determined by WG-based linear regression. Excess lipid-level diets can up-regulate the ACSL4/LPCAT3/LOX12 axis, induce hepatic oxidative stress and cell death through a ferroptotic-like program, and decrease growth performance.

Abstract Photonic crystals (PhCs) are a kind of artificial structures that can mold the flow of light at will. Polaritonic crystals (PoCs) made from polaritonic media offer a promising route to controlling nano-light at the subwavelength scale. Conventional bulk PhCs and recent van der Waals PoCs mainly show highly symmetric excitation of Bloch modes that closely rely on lattice orders. Here, we experimentally demonstrate a type of hyperbolic PoCs with configurable and low-symmetry deep-subwavelength Bloch modes that are robust against lattice rearrangement in certain directions. This is achieved by periodically perforating a natural crystal α-MoO3 that hosts in-plane hyperbolic phonon polaritons. The mode excitation and symmetry are controlled by the momentum matching between reciprocal lattice vectors and hyperbolic dispersions. We show that the Bloch modes and Bragg resonances of hyperbolic PoCs can be tuned through lattice scales and orientations while exhibiting robust properties immune to lattice rearrangement in the hyperbolic forbidden directions. Our findings provide insights into the physics of hyperbolic PoCs and expand the categories of PhCs, with potential applications in waveguiding, energy transfer, biosensing and quantum nano-optics.

Considering the high quality requirement of advanced aeroengine equipment, accurate prediction of probabilistic fatigue life (PFL) for CSS-42 L bearing in jet strengthen modification grinding, is an important issue for aeroengine manufacturing. Here an improved robust prediction algorithm of Wavelet Transform Package (WTP) Network is designed, therefore the decisive influence of jet strengthen modification grinding on the probabilistic fatigue life of aeroengine bearing, could be predicted and analyzed. A complete set of comparative experiments demonstrate that, when Pw is 23.5 MPa, Mc is 225 g, Mb is 342 g, Ma is 304 g, Fa is 0.26 kg/min, and Ts is 40.7 mm/min, and Bf is 69.442%, Cs is 70.336%, Nb is 69.002%, Sb is 54.334%, Os is 67.334%, Fp is 71.254%, At is 33.557%, W is 56.375%, Tr is 62.445%, an optimal data set of FLC is 60.5 × 105, PFLS is 0.337, FLGV is 83.74 × 102, CMFD is 8.42, FDP is 79.43, and NPFD is 4.445 (error tolerance = ±5%), could be obtained. This research is novel and merited in implementing novel PFL prediction for CSS-42 L bearing, proposing PFL indexes to evaluate the fatigue performance of bearing material in jet strengthen modification grinding, and designing an improved WTP network to achieve accurate PFL prediction as well. Eventually it could be summarized that this research realizes extraordinary predictive capability and facilitates the productive PFL management for aeroengine equipment.

Colon cancer is increasing worldwide and is commonly regarded as hormone independent, yet recent reports have implicated sex hormones in its development. Nevertheless, the role of hormones from the hypothalamus–hypophysis axis in colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC) remains uncertain. In this study, we observed a significant reduction in the expression of the oxytocin receptor (OXTR) in colon samples from both patient with colitis and patient with CAC. To investigate further, we generated mice with an intestinal-epithelium-cell-specific knockout of OXTR. These mice exhibited markedly increased susceptibility to dextran-sulfate-sodium-induced colitis and dextran sulfate sodium/azoxymethane-induced CAC compared to wild-type mice. Our findings indicate that OXTR depletion impaired the inner mucus of the colon epithelium. Mechanistically, oxytocin was found to regulate Mucin 2 maturation through β1-3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase 7 (B3GNT7)-mediated fucosylation. Interestingly, we observed a positive correlation between B3GNT7 expression and OXTR expression in human colitis and CAC colon samples. Moreover, the simultaneous activations of OXTR and fucosylation by l-fucose significantly alleviated tumor burden. Hence, our study unveils oxytocin’s promising potential as an affordable and effective therapeutic intervention for individuals affected by colitis and CAC.

BackgroundIgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most prevalent primary glomerulonephritis worldwide and a leading cause of chronic kidney failure. There are currently no definitive therapeutic regimens to treat or prevent the progression of IgAN. However, biologic agents offer novel therapeutic approaches that target immunological mechanisms to slow or halt disease progression. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of biologic agents in patients with IgA nephropathy.MethodsWe will systematically search PubMed, EMbase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and www.clinicaltrials.gov for randomized controlled trials of biologic agents for the treatment of IgA nephropathy. The search period will span from the establishment of each database until October 2023. The quality assessment of included studies will be performed individually using the revised Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials (RoB 2), and meta-analysis will be conducted using Revman 5.4.1 software.ConclusionsThe results of this study will provide evidence-based medical evidence for the clinical application of biologic agents in patients with IgA nephropathy.Prospero registration numberCRD42023400450.

Sluggish diffusion effect of high entropy alloy limits its diffusion bonding with other components in practical applications. In this paper, the surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) strategy for performing diffusion bonding joints of high entropy alloy (HEA) at a relative lower temperature is proposed. The EDS results demonstrate that the diffusion distance of Fe atoms increases significantly after SMAT since more gain boundaries are formed after SMAT. Furthermore, with this method the HEA/stainless steel joint can achieve a useable strength of 320 MPa at relative lower temperature of 850 °C (∼0.63 Tm, Temperature of melting). Molecular dynamics simulations show that the apparent diffusivity of Fe in the polycrystalline model is significantly higher than in the single-crystalline model because of fast diffusion at grain boundaries, i.e., the grain boundaries are fast diffusion channels. More detailed microstructure analysis indicates that although the density of dislocations increases after SMAT, its elemental diffusion ability is much weaker compared with grain boundaries. This study provides a feasible avenue for the application of diffusion bonding in HEAs, which could greatly broaden the applications fields of HEAs.

Abstract Background Determining the grade and molecular marker status of intramedullary gliomas is important for assessing treatment outcomes and prognosis. Invasive biopsy for pathology usually carries a high risk of tissue damage, especially to the spinal cord, and there are currently no non-invasive strategies to identify the pathological type of intramedullary gliomas. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a non-invasive machine learning model to assist doctors in identifying the intramedullary glioma grade and mutation status of molecular markers. Methods A total of 461 patients from two institutions were included, and their sagittal (SAG) and transverse (TRA) T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging scans and clinical data were acquired preoperatively. We employed a transformer-based deep learning model to automatically segment lesions in the SAG and TRA phases and extract their radiomics features. Different feature representations were fed into the proposed neural networks and compared with those of other mainstream models. Results The dice similarity coefficients of the Swin transformer in the SAG and TRA phases were 0.8697 and 0.8738, respectively. The results demonstrated that the best performance was obtained in our proposed neural networks based on multimodal fusion (SAG-TRA-clinical) features. In the external validation cohort, the areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve for graded (WHO I–II or WHO III–IV), alpha thalassemia/mental retardation syndrome X-linked (ATRX) status, and tumor protein p53 (P53) status prediction tasks were 0.8431, 0.7622, and 0.7954, respectively. Conclusions This study reports a novel machine learning strategy that, for the first time, is based on multimodal features to predict the ATRX and P53 mutation status and grades of intramedullary gliomas. The generalized application of these models could non-invasively provide more tumor-specific pathological information for determining the treatment and prognosis of intramedullary gliomas.

Owing to their broad operational bandwidth, broadband absorbers are extensively used in various applications, such as solar cells, microbolometers, and light modulators. To enhance energy harvesting, it is essential to achieve insensitivity to wide incident angles and polarization-independent absorption. α-MoO3 is a natural polar van der Waals crystal that hosts phonon polaritons in the mid-infrared spectral region. These polaritons can manipulate the infrared light at the nanoscale and break the diffraction limit, offering a great opportunity for the design of broadband absorbers. In this study, we propose a strategy based on an array of crossed the permittivity of α-MoO3 in [100] and [001] crystallographic axes to expand its broadband absorption. Triangular one-dimensional grating pattern is initially considered, which shows an ultra-broadband and wide-angle insensitive absorption within the range of 10.23–18.07 μm. Subsequently, square pyramidal two-dimensional arrays are investigated, which not only show ultra-broadband absorption and wide-angle insensitivity, but also exhibit polarization independence within the range of 10.46–18.32 μm. This remarkable broadband absorption is elucidated by the effective medium theory and the local power dissipation density. These results demonstrate an effective strategy for constructing ultra-broadband absorbers based on α-MoO3 for applications in solar thermal and photovoltaic systems.

Background and aimsMalnutrition is strongly linked to adverse outcomes in patients with Crohn’s disease (CD). In this study, our objective was to validate the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) criteria and develop a fast and accurate diagnostic approach for identifying malnutrition in CD patients.MethodsThis study assessed 177 CD patients from four general hospitals. The efficacy of the GLIM criteria for the diagnosis of CD malnutrition was compared. By analyzing the independent factors, a nomogram model was derived and internally validated to predict the diagnosis of malnutrition in patients with CD. Model performance was assessed using discrimination and calibration, decision curves, and net benefit analyses.ResultsCompared with the SGA criteria, the GLIM criteria was consistent in sensitivity (88.89%) and specificity (78.43%) [AUC = 0.84; 95% Confidence Interval (CI): 0.77–0.89]. The Harvey-Bradshaw index(HBI) score (OR: 1.58; 95% CI: 1.15–2.18), body mass index (OR: 0.41; 95% CI: 0.27–0.64), and mid-upper arm circumference (OR: 0.68; 95% CI: 0.47–0.9) were independent factors associated with malnutrition. The nomogram was developed based on these indicators showing good discrimination in malnutrition diagnosis (AUC = 0.953; 95% CI: 0.922–0.984), with agreement after calibration curve and decision curve analysis.ConclusionThe GLIM criteria are appropriate for diagnosing malnutrition in CD patients. The HBI score may be used to diagnose malnutrition in patients with CD and become a possible selection for the GLIM etiologic criteria of inflammation. The HBM nomogram could be a simple, rapid, and efficient method for diagnosing malnutrition in CD patients.
