‘The Compilation and Promotion of the Greater Danshui Artist Map’ is the first-stage plan from the ‘New Taipei City Artist Map Project’ by Culture Affairs Bureau of New Taipei C ity. The goal of this project, named ‘One Year, One Village’, is to conduct field survey, in-depth interviews, artwork digitisation and promotional events on artists and art villages within Ney Taipei City. Information from the research and its resulting digitised visual and audio contents will become the foundation for future development and production of arts emerging from the growing cultural originality in New Taipei C ity. In addition to utilizing the traditional ‘direct observation’ approaches to obtain first-hand information and establish contacts with local artists, the research also takes on a field survey approach to conduct verbal interviews and complete digital photographs of artists’ artworks. The combination of these methods had achieved a complete and accessible artist archive for the Greater Danshui. Using the surveyed results and digital content, the Greater Danshui artists map website, ( http://artist-map.ntpc.gov.tw/sd_/ ) was completed and a pamphlet for arts of Greater Danshui was published.

As global environmental consciousness emerges, use of high technology to reduce environmental pollution has become a critical imperative for economies the world over. In recent years’ development and applications of ICT monitors have increasingly served to displace traditional paper based displays, yielding tremendous environmental efficacy. Digital e-paper displays enjoy numerous competitive advantages including energy efficiency, eye friendliness, resilient durability, and readability, but are currently generally only deployed in e-book uses, so enhancing their application scope, in addition to relying on their reading comfort, the market will no doubt develop appreciable economic and environmental benefits. Hence this study deploys the perspective of applications innovation, to explore uses of e-paper solutions in MRT advertising contexts on the advertising efficacy aspects of both advertising memory and advertising attitudes. This research relies on in situ experimental methods, at an existing MRT station in Taipei on the island of Taiwan, through convenience sampling to select 100 study subjects, who were asked to view two encased displays (either a digital e-paper display or paper display) with public notice contents, prior to completing the study survey and statistical analysis of the valid responses. The study findings indicate that, for the general public MRT patrons, digital e-paper advertising solutions yielded optimal efficacy for both advertising memory and advertising attitude, with significant results along the dimensions of both advertising receptiveness and interest.

Rich mineral paper (RMP) has the advantage of being energy efficient, clean and creating no pollution during its production processes, with low production costs, and enjoying naturally complete biodegradability, fully compatible with the emerging demands for energy efficient carbon reducing features and the trend for environmentally green solutions, so if this media can replace traditional paper uses to become a new print media, tremendous environmental efficacy can be expected. So this study aims to discuss the print quality performance characteristics of RMP applications in large print run offset printing operations. The study deploys True Experimental Study methodology, with use of the digital printing test target of Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF), with flat offset printing on traditional coated paper and eco-friendly RMP, printing 800 sheets of each, with systematic random sampling of 35 samples for the study. Quality determinations rely on X-rite i1 Pro for elucidation of the printing quality characteristics for solid ink density, TVI, contrast, gray balance, and color gamut measurement. The results of this study indicate the KCMY solid ink density and contrast of the eco-friendly RMP were less than traditional coated paper; TVI value was higher than traditional coated paper; color gamut performance was less than the traditional coated paper. Optimal gray balance combination for RMP was determined as follows: 7% tone with C7M3Y4, 30% tone with C30M28Y26, 60% tone with C60M58Y5, and 80% tone with C80M76Y66. The study suggests that ink particularly suitable for RMP uses remains in need of development. Additionally, the study found that use of RMP in the paper machinery indicated transverse and longitudinal tensile strength is slightly inferior to the traditional coated paper, resulting in unsmooth surfaces post-printing, for which it is recommended that RMP makers should consider paper machinery structural aspects when pursuing future research on modifying solutions for greater printing efficacy with RMP.

UV Inkjet Printing has demonstrated extraordinary potential in printing technology around the globe in recent years. Other than its environment-friendly trait, UV Inkjet Printing can also be applied to various printing materials due to its wide range of application. Comparing to the low-price competition invoked by paper-based printing, it achieves high added-value results from its output. While international market’s perspective on inkjet printing remains positive, most printing press in Taiwan still have doubts for the technology. In recent years, there has been a considerable growth in importing UV Width Inkjet printers in Taiwan domestically. However, working personnel in Taiwan are inexperienced in dealing with new equipment and wider selection of printing materials, therefore the issue of printers adapting to their diverse printing materials. This study will examine the five combinations of UV printer and printing materials that are common in Taiwan (brands of printers, serial number of the sprinkler head, and brands of printing ink) and three specific high-value printing substrates (glass, acrylic and melamine plywood). Through the printing experiment, the color gamut of printing materials will be re-examined. The goal of the study is to establish a standard for UV printing’s application in decoration materials, so as to provide reference for future development.

“Web-to-Print” has become a new trend of printing industry all over the world recently. It combines the advantages of internet with printing processes in a highly digitalized way, and has been used in the U.S. and Europe for a while. Nowadays in the 21st century, whether offset printing, gravure printing, flexo printing, screen printing or digital printing cannot survive without internet, and it will be the trend for printers to develop Web-to-Print platform to reduce cost and increase productivity. Most of Asian printers still use traditional processes to print orders. Comparing to the printers in the U.S. or European countries, these printers in Asia seem not so active in the development of Web-to-Print. Under the influence of digitalization, it will be very important for them to consider how to provide “Web-to-Print” services. To begin with, this research conduct case study analyses of major successful stories of Web-to-Print by literature and actual examples. Functionalities of profitable web-to-print platform, based on our findings, may include various basic on-line operations such as on-line editing, on-line proofing and on-line ordering. Besides, in order to offer a user-friendly environment for foreign customers, the platform should take bilingual user interface into account. The platform should also provide copyright management and on-line legal advice service. After basic functionalities are implemented, educational service such as knowledge learning function are included to illustrate basic and professional printing knowledge which will be useful for those customers who are not familiar with print processes. The results of this study should help traditional printers invest on web-to-print business and provide a good reference for future studies related web-to-print technology and services.

In this paper, we propose a variant of DES called a homophonic DES. The DES algorithm is strengthened by adding some random bits into the plaintext, which are placed in particular positions to maximize diffusion, and to resist differential attack.

Bar codes and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) both belong to a group of technologies called Automatic Identification and Data Capture. People have all become very aware of bar codes as they have permeated our existence in the last 25 years. In fact, it is tough to buy something in a store that does not use bar codes these days. But bar codes have four disadvantages: you have to be able to see them, the bar code cannot be written on or defaced, you cannot change the data once they are printed, and they take up space on the object they are printed on. To eliminate those disadvantages, RFID is the solution. RFID is a means of capturing data about an object without using a human to read the data. Along with Smart cards, and Magnetic Stripe technology and a host of others, this is a method of automating our need for data. Recently, the technique of RFID grabs people’s attention because it captures data about an object without using a human to read the data. Individual RFID tags must be cost-efficiency for these applications (usually less than one to two cents). The cost of antennas is a crucial factor in the mass production of antennas. To reach this goal, emphasis has been placed on the development of printed electronics technologies to enable the manufacturing of RFID tags in an economically competitive way (Hodgson, n.d.; Bjorninen, et al., 2009). Various printing processes has been or is currently being used for producing a number of electronic components such as printed circuits, displays, RFID antennas, batteries, etc. Printing techniques such as flexographic, offset and gravure are suited for mass production, while screen printing and ink-jet printing have been identified as processes that could be employed for printing the antennas in order to bring down the cost of RFID tags (Sangoi, 2004; Subramanian, 2005).
