Gastric cancer (GC) is a global health problem. As a complicated heterogeneous disease, The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Research Network recognized four subtypes of GC, including Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive GC (EBVaGC), which accounts for approximately 9% of all GC cases. The response to immunotherapy in GC is limited, and whether EBV status is a predictor of immunotherapy remains controversial.The differential gene expression analysis was utilized to compare the gene expression between the EBV-positive group and the EBV-negative group in the TCGA-Stomach Adenocarcinoma (TCGA-STAD) cohort. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis, and gene functional enrichment analysis were used to investigate the most pivotal hub genes and their roles. The "Estimation of Stromal and Immune cells in Malignant Tumours using Expression data" (ESTIMATE) and CIBERSORT algorithms were performed to infer the immune compositions of tissue samples. Furthermore, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and survival analysis were used to validate the expression and prognosis of these hub genes in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC) cohort. A GC cohort that received anti-programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) therapy was used to analyze the predicted efficacy based on the expression of hub genes.There is a total of 1,686 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the EBV-positive group and EBV-negative group, and WGCNA identified a yellow-colored module that was most related to EBV features. Functional enrichment analysis of 144 genes in this yellow module demonstrated that these genes primarily performed immune-related functions, and PPI network analysis through the CytoHubba plug-in identified 11 hub genes in the network. The RT-qPCR results in the SYSUCC cohort further validated that the hub genes were all increased in the EBV-positive group. Finally, we found that a potential classifier was associated with the efficacy of immunotherapy based on the expression of these 11 hub genes.Our study identified several hub genes associated with EBV status that are closely related to the immune microenvironmental features of EBVaGC and may be used as molecular markers for predicting the immune response in GC.

Background: Epstein‒Barr virus-associated gastric cancer (EBVaGC) is regarded as a distinct molecular subtype of GC, accounting for approximately 9% of all GC cases, and it often exhibits unique molecular features and clinicopathological characteristics. Clinically, EBVaGC patients are found to have a significantly lower frequency of lymph node metastasis and better prognosis than uninfected individuals. RNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification has an indispensable role in modulating tumour progression in various cancer types. However, its impact on EBVaGC remains unclear. Methods: Methylated RNA immunoprecipitation sequence (MeRIP-seq) and m6A dot blot were conducted to compare the m6A modification levels between EBVaGC and EBV-negative GC (EBVnGC) cells. Western blot, real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) and immunohistochemistry were applied to explore the underlying mechanism of the reduced m6A modification in EBVaGC. The biological function of FTO was determined in vivo and in vitro. The target genes of FTO were screened by MeRIP-seq, RT-qPCR and Western blot. The m6A binding proteins of target genes were verified by RNA pulldown and RNA immunoprecipitation assay. Chromatin immunoprecipitation and Luciferase report assay were performed to investigate the mechanism how EBV upregulated FTO expression. Results: Here, we found that m6A demethylase fat mass and obesity associated protein (FTO) was notably increased in EBVaGC, leading to a reduction in m6A modification, and higher FTO expression was associated with better clinical outcomes. Our findings revealed that FTO depressed EBVaGC cell metastasis and aggressiveness both in vitro and in vivo by controlling the expression of its downstream target gene AP-1 transcription factor subunit (FOS). Methylated FOS mRNA was specifically recognized by the m6A “reader” insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA binding protein 1/2 (IGF2BP1/2), which enhanced its transcript stability. Moreover, we demonstrated that MYC activated by EBV in EBVaGC elevated FTO expression by binding to a specific region of the FTO promoter. Conclusions: Mechanistically, our work uncovered a crucial suppressive role of FTO in EBVaGC metastasis and invasiveness via an m6A-FOS-IGF2BP1/2-dependent manner, suggesting a promising biomarker panel for GC metastatic prediction and therapy.

Dental pulp stem cells are dental pulp-derived mesenchymal stem cells that originate from the neural crest. They exhibit greater potential for the treatment of nervous system diseases than other types of stem cells because of their neurogenic differentiation capability and their ability to secrete multiple neurotrophic factors. Few studies have reported Alzheimer's disease treatment using dental pulp stem cells. Rat models of Alzheimer's disease were established by injecting amyloid-β1-42 into the hippocampus. Fourteen days later, 5 × 106 dental pulp stem cells were injected into the hippocampus. Immunohistochemistry and western blot assays showed that dental pulp stem cell transplantation increased the expression of neuron-related doublecortin, NeuN, and neurofilament 200 in the hippocampus, while the expression of amyloid-β was decreased. Moreover, cognitive and behavioral abilities were improved. These findings indicate that dental pulp stem cell transplantation in rats can improve cognitive function by regulating the secretion of neuron-related proteins, which indicates a potential therapeutic effect for Alzheimer's disease. Recent studies uncovered the emerging roles of SAPCD2 (suppressor anaphase-promoting complex domain containing 2) in several types of human cancer. However, the functions and underlying mechanisms of SAPCD2 in the progression of neuroblastoma (NB) remain elusive. Herein, through integrative analysis of public datasets and regulatory network of GSK-J4, a small-molecule drug with anti-NB activity, we identified SAPCD2 as an appealing target with a high connection to poor prognosis in NB. SAPCD2 promoted NB progression in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, SAPCD2 could directly bind to cytoplasmic E2F7 but not E2F1, alter the subcellular distribution of E2F7 and regulate E2F activity. Among the E2F family members, the roles of E2F7 in NB are poorly understood. We found that an increasing level of nuclear E2F7 was induced by SAPCD2 knockdown, thereby affecting the expression of genes involved in the cell cycle and chromosome instability. In addition, Selinexor (KTP-330), a clinically available inhibitor of exportin 1 (XPO1), could induce nuclear accumulation of E2F7 and suppress the growth of NB. Overall, our studies suggested a previously unrecognized role of SAPCD2 in the E2F signaling pathway and a potential therapeutic approach for NB, as well as clues for understanding the differences in subcellular distribution of E2F1 and E2F7 during their nucleocytoplasmic shuttling.

Clarifying the current situation of regional water pollutants and the relationship between pollutants and pollution sources is considered essential for managing the water environment. Water quality identification index (WQI), cluster analysis (CA), positive matrix factorization (PMF), and stable isotope analysis in R (SIAR) were employed to interpret a large and complex water quality data set of the Qinhuai River catchment generated during 2015 to 2019 to monitor of 11 parameters at 29 different sampling sites. WQI analysis indicated that water quality in Qinhuai River catchment is considered to have "moderate pollution," and an improving trend of water quality was observed at the interannual scale. TN was the most deteriorated of all pollution parameters. CA and PMF results on the spatial scale revealed that sampling sites located at downtown of Nanjing and Lishui District or Jangling University town were highly polluted due to the sewage from domestic sewage and business service sewage (28.88%) as well as industrial wastewater (27.43%), while sampling sites located at Hushu Street Administrative District, Ergan River, and Sangan River were slightly polluted by rural domestic wastewater and garbage (28.79%), and agricultural non-point source pollution (24.3%). The middle-lower reaches (Jiangning Development Zone and Moling Street) and middle reaches (Lukou Street Administrative District) were moderately polluted by industrial wastewater (27.25%), sewage from domestic wastewater and business service wastewater (31.62%) as well as inner sources (24.76%). The steady state response of a fractional order vibration system subject to harmonic excitation was studied by using the fractional derivative operator − ∞ D t β , ${}_{-\infty} D_t^\beta,$ where the order β is a real number satisfying 0 ≤ β ≤ 2. We derived that the fractional derivative contributes to the viscoelasticity if 0 < β < 1, while it contributes to the viscous inertia if 1 < β < 2. Thus the fractional derivative can represent the “spring-pot” element and also the “inerterpot” element proposed in the present article. The viscosity contribution coefficient, elasticity contribution coefficient, inertia contribution coefficient, amplitude-frequency relation, phase-frequency relation, and influence of the order are discussed in detail. The results show that fractional derivatives are applicable for characterizing the viscoelasticity and viscous inertia of materials.

In the current study, by employing 5-((4-carboxypyridin-2-yl)amino)isophthalic acid (H3L), a semirigid carboxylate-pyridine ligand with V-shape, two new transition metal coordination polymers with the chemical formulae of [Cu1.5(L)(H2O)]·2H2O (1) and [Co4(L)2(CH3CN)(OH)2(H2O)4]·3H2O (2) have been successfully prepared through the reaction between the H3L ligand and corresponding metal salts under the solvothermal reaction conditions. Magnetic investigations have suggested that there is antiferromagnetic coupling between neighboring metal ions in the two compounds. The application values of compounds 1 and 2 on the non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was evaluated and the related mechanism was discussed at the same time. MYB proteins form one of the largest transcription factor families in plants. Growing evidence has suggested that MYB has important roles in the regulation of plant growth and development, as well as responses to abiotic and biotic stresses. In the present study, the GbMYB60 gene isolated from Gossypium barbadense was heterogeneously expressed in Arabidopsis. GbMYB60 encodes a R2R3-MYB protein with transcriptional activation activity. Histochemical staining revealed that GbMYB60 was preferential expressed in the leaf vascular and meristem tissues of young seedlings and in the axillary bud tissue of mature plants. Expression pattern analysis indicated that GbMYB60 is induced by ABA, mannitol, and salt, but not H2O2. Transgenic Arabidopsis with constitutively higher expression of GbMYB60 exhibited reduced germination rates under salt and mannitol treatments as well as reduced tolerance to salt at the adult-plant stage. Transgenic Arabidopsis accumulates more reactive oxygen species compared to wild-type plants under stress conditions, corresponding with more severe cell death in transgenic plants. Additionally, ABA-related genes, including ABI5 and ABF3, were down-regulated in GbMYB60-overexpressing plants. This research has revealed that cotton GbMYB60 negatively regulates plant tolerance to salt stress, possibly through the inhibition of ABA signaling pathways and enhancing reactive oxygen species over-production.

Leclercia sp. W6 and W17, which belong to the Enterobacteriaceae, were isolated from a stomach sample from a 78-year-old female gastric cancer patient, and genomic sequencing and analysis were performed. Background: Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is the most common complication and sequela of herpes zoster (HZ) that greatly affects the life and emotional experience of patients. Acupuncture therapy has been confirmed as an effective and safe treatment for PHN. Several systematic reviews (SRs) and meta-analysis (MAs) have reported the evidence of acupuncture therapy for treating PHN. However, the evidence has not been systematically synthesized. This overview aims to synthesize and assess the reliability of evidence generated from these SRs and MAs of acupuncture therapy for PHN. Methods: We will conduct a systematic search of the China Biology Medicine (CBM), VIP database, Wangfang database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Pubmed, Cochrane Library, Excerpt Medical Database (Embase), and Web of Science to identify eligible SRs and MAs, from their inception to October 31, 2020. We will use Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews-2 (AMSTAR2) for methodological quality assessment, Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) for report quality assessment, Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) for the quality of evidence assessment, and ROBIS for the bias assessment. Our reviewers will conduct systematic reviews, qualification evaluation, data extraction, methodological quality, and evidence quality screening in pairs. The outcomes include pain intensity, Quality of life (QoL), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Global impression, and adverse events. All the extracted data will be provided in tabular form to summarize characteristics of each review. The evidence will be a narrative synthesis of the type and content of the intervention and the results reported. Results: The results of this study will be published in a peer-reviewed journal. Conclusions: This overview will provide comprehensive evidence of acupuncture therapy for patients with PHN. Ethics and dissemination: This review will not involve private information of participants, so the ethical approval will not be required. The results will be disseminated in a peer-reviewed journal or conference presentation. Important protocol modifications will be updated on PROSPERO. PROSPERO registration number: CRD42020178738.

Celiac trunk aneurysms (CTAs) are rare and usually asymptomatic. Although most of these aneurysms can be treated with percutaneous embolization, some uncommon locations of the aneurysm may make this approach impossible. We report a patient with a celiac trunk aneurysm (CTA) and a proximal splenic artery aneurysm (SAA). Due to the size and location of these two aneurysms, after multidisciplinary discussion, endovascular management was considered inappropriate and they were treated by laparoscopic ligation of the two aneurysms and revascularization. This procedure offers good postoperative recovery with good preservation of the visceral function. Some collateral vessels in the viscera were obvious on postoperative day 7.

A type of novel rhodanine-based 4-anilinoquinazoline, which designed the combination between quinazoline as the backbone and various substituted biological rhodanine groups as the side chain, have been synthesized, and their antiproliferative activities were also evaluated firstly. These compounds displayed good antiproliferative activity and EGFR-TK inhibitory activity. Among them, compound 8d showed good inhibitory activity (IC50 = 2.7 μM for Hep G2, IC50 = 3.1 μM for A549) and molecular docking of 8d into EGFR TK active site was also performed, this inhibitor well fitting the active site might well explain its excellent inhibitory activity.

To examine the effect of protein adsorption on the fat-water interface on the surface composition of spray-dried particles, whey, hydrolyzed whey, and soy protein isolate emulsions were prepared at three different protein to fat ratios of 1:1, 1:5, and 1:10 and spray dried. Non-hydrolyzed whey protein isolate (WPI) and the more hydrolyzed whey protein solutions at 20.2% degree of hydrolysis (DH) had significantly lower surface tension values with fat than without fat. The correlation between the reduction of surface tension value of an emulsion and the increase in protein surface composition of powder particles was observed for WPI and HWP406 but was not observed for the other protein isolate types. It was clear that the spray-dried emulsions had fat as the dominant component on the surface of the powder particles and that the amount of protein on the surface became severely depressed at higher fat addition levels. In terms of its powder morphology, the unique powder structures such as the indentations and folds usually found on the surface of protein containing powders were not evident because they were compromised by the presence of high surface fat. The powder with higher surface fat had more crumpled particle structures and dimpled surfaces.

Concrete is the most widely used building material in the world. In terms of traffic and bridge construction, concrete is also the most widely used building materials. The cement concrete of the inherent advantages of having a high compressive strength while also has easy to produce cracks, poor impact resistance inherent weaknesses. These weaknesses limit the application of cement concrete. Concrete autogenous shrinkage phenomenon would adversely affect the mechanical properties and durability of concrete, this phenomenon is important. Autogenous shrinkage problem of low water-cement ratio of the with high mineral admixtures, cement-based cementitious materials was introduced. The main reason for high-performance concrete early cracking being autogenous shrinkage was pointed out. Based on the home and abroad research status of low water cement ratio of the cement paste and concrete autogenous shrinkage, especially for early autogenous shrinkage phenomenon, the mechanism of autogenous shrinkage and the measure method is presented, and the improvement measures and the possible problems the need for further research work is presented.

The surface tension of freshly created food protein powder isolates was measured in aqueous solutions as a function of concentration, hydrolysis, and temperature. The surface tension of the solutions was measured immediately to best predict their surface-active behavior in a spray-drying scenario, where instantaneous values are more relevant than equilibrium surface tension measurements. Whole whey protein, hydrolyzed whey proteins (degrees of hydrolysis of 4, 9.5, 12, 17, and 20.2%), soy protein, pea protein isolates, and gelatin powders were diluted in a range of concentrations (0.04–2 g/L) and their surface tension values were reported at 23 ± 1°C. It was found that at higher concentrations hydrolyzed whey proteins at degrees of hydrolysis of 9.5 and 12%, and soy protein isolates in particular, showed excellent surface activity (shown through a decrease in surface tension) compared to nonhydrolyzed whey protein and gelatin. Sphingosine kinase 1 (SphK1) is over-expressed in many cancers and therefore serves as a biomarker for cancer prognosis. SKI-5C is a new SphK1 inhibitor, and until now its molecular function in Wilms’ tumor cells remained unknown. Here, using CCK-8 and nude mice experiments we assessed cell growth in Wilms’ tumor cell lines (SK-NEP-1 and G401) in vitro and in vivo. We demonstrated that SphK1 is highly expressed in SK-NEP-1 and G401 cells, and through annexin V/propidium iodide staining and flow cytometry analysis, we detected cell apoptosis. Treatment with SKI-5C inhibited proliferation and induced apoptosis of SK-NEP-1 and G401 cells in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, SKI-5C treatment inhibited the growth of SK-NEP-1 xenograft tumors in nude mice, with few side effects. Our microarray analysis revealed that SKI-5C-treated SK-NEP-1 cells mostly downregulated PRKACA and significantly inhibited phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and NF-κB p65. These results imply that SKI-5C induces apoptosis of SK-NEP-1 cells through the PRKACA/MAPK/NF-κB pathway. While, further research is required to determine the underlying details, these results provide new clues for the molecular mechanism of cell death induced by SKI-5C and suggest that SKI-5C may act as new candidate drug for Wilms’ tumor.

Biosurfactants are natural surface-active compounds mainly synthesized by microorganisms, which have distinct advantages like no secondly pollution and friendly to environment compared with chemical surfactants. With the development of modern biological technology, biosurfactants have been shown a variety of potential applications, including medicine, agriculture, oil production and environmental remediation, so it has already caused many researchers a strong interest in the production of biosurfactants making use of biological technology. A review is made from the isolation of biosurfactants. In addition, on the foundation of the analysis,several suggestions about the development of biosurfactants are proposed.

Cerebrovascular injury is one of the three major causes of death and is the leading cause of adult disability. Despite the increasing progress in emergency treatment and early rehabilitation in patients with cerebrovascular injury, treatment options for neurological dysfunction that presents at a later stage are lacking. This study examined the potential of human amniotic mesenchymal stem cell (hAMSC) transplantation in the repair of neurological deficits in an experimental focal cerebral ischemia model. Following the isolation of hAMSCs, growth characteristics and surface antigen expression were observed. Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) was used to induce the cultured cells into neuron-like cells, which were identified by immunocytochemistry. The suture model was used to induce focal cerebral ischemia in rats, which were subsequently randomly divided into experimental and control groups for treatment with BrdU-labeled hAMSCs or PBS, respectively. Neurological deficits were assessed following transplantation using the neurological severity score, beam balance test and elevated body swing test. Eight weeks later, rat brain tissue was analyzed with H&E staining and BrdU immunohistochemistry, and the survival and spatial distribution of the transplanted hAMSCs were determined. The hAMSCs proliferated in vitro, and it was found that neuron-specific enolase (NSE) was expressed in neurons, whereas glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) was expressed in astrocytes. The focal ischemia model caused varying degrees of left limb hemiplegia accompanied by right sided Horner's Syndrome. A type of novel 4,6-substituted-(diaphenylamino)quinazolines, which designed based on the 4-(phenylamino)quinazoline moiety, have been discovered as potential EGFR inhibitors. These compounds displayed good antiproliferative activity and EGFR-TK inhibitory activity. Especially, 4-((4-(3-bromophenylamino)quinazolin-6-ylamino)methyl)phenol ( 5b ) , showed the most potent inhibitory activity (IC 50 = 0.28 μM for Hep G2, IC 50 = 0.59 μM for A16-F10 and IC 50 = 0.87 μM for EGFR) and effectively induces apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner in the Hep G2 cell line. Molecular docking of 5b into EGFR TK active site was also performed. This inhibitor nicely fitting the active site might well explain its excellent inhibitory activity.

Carbon fibers combine low weight and exceptional mechanical properties,making them ideal reinforcements forpolymer composite materials. Sb2O3 doped ZnO thin film was prepared by RF magnetron sputtering technique. The influence of Sb2O3 on the structure and the optical absorption of ZnO thin film was studied by XPS, XRD apparatuses and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results show that doped Sb2O3 has affected atomic and electronic structures, growth modes of crystal grains and optical absorption of ZnO. The element Sb exists in many forms in the film including transpositional atoms and compounds such as Sb2O3, Zn7Sb2O14 etc. ZnO crystal grains grow in mixing directions. The lattice relaxation and the content of second phases increase when more Sb is doped. The UVA absorption of doped ZnO thin film increases obviously. The ultraviolet absorption peak narrows, absorption intensity increases, the absorption margin becomes steep and moves to shorter wavelength of about 5 nm, and the visible absorption increases in some sort.

Sb2O3- and CeO2-doped ZnO thin films were prepared by RF magnetron sputtering technique. The influence of Sb2O3 and CeO2 on the structure and ultraviolet (UV) absorption properties was studied by X-ray diffraction and UV–Vis spectrophotometry. Results show that multiple doping of films had a prominent effect on the development of crystal grains and the UV absorption property. Ce and Sb exist in many forms in the ZnO film. The multiple-doped films also show enhanced UVA absorption, and the UV absorption peak widens and the absorption intensity increases. Sb plays a dominant role on the structure and UV absorption of ZnO thin films, which are enhanced by Ce.

The aim of this study was to investigate the role of co-stimulatory molecule B7-H1 in gastric carcinoma, to assess its clinical significance, and to explore related mechanism. Expression of B7-H1 and interferon gamma (IFN-γ) was evaluated by immunohistochemistry in 205 gastric carcinoma tissues and nonmalignant para-carcinoma tissues and 30 normal tissues. Expression data were correlated with clinicopathologic features of the patients. Two new series of new compounds containing a 6-amino-substituted group or 6-acrylamide-substituted group linked to a 4-anilinoquinazoline nucleus have been discovered as potential EGFR inhibitors. These compounds proved efficient effects on antiproliferative activity and EGFR-TK inhibitory activity. Especially, N(6)-((5-bromothiophen-2-yl)methyl)-N(4)-(3-chlorophenyl)quinazoline-4,6-diamine (5e), showed the most potent inhibitory activity (IC50=3.11μM for Hep G2, IC50=0.82μM for A549). The EGFR molecular docking model suggested that the new compound is nicely bound to the region of EGFR, and cell morphology by Hoechst stain experiment suggested that these compounds efficiently induced apoptosis of A549 cells.

A type of novel α,β-unsaturated cyclohexanone analogous, which designed based on the curcumin core structure, have been discovered as potential EGFR inhibitors. These compounds exhibit potent antiproliferative activity in two human tumor cell lines (Hep G2 and B16-F10). Among them, compounds I(3) and I(12) displayed the most potent EGFR inhibitory activity (IC(50) = 0.43 μM and 1.54 μM, respectively). Molecular docking of I(12) into EGFR TK active site was also performed. This inhibitor nicely fitting the active site might well explain its excellent inhibitory activity.

This study was to explore the expression of two subtype molecules of CD133 and its relationship with clinical prognostic factors in childhood with B linage acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) at initial diagnosis and the 33rd day of induction chemotherapy. Expression of CD133-1 and CD133-2 in 48 cases of B-ALL and 25 cases at initial diagnosis and the 33rd day of treatment was detected by flow cytometry. Minimal residual disease (MRD) of B-ALL at 33rd day was evaluated by flow cytometry. The results indicated that the expression of CD133-1 was positive in 18 cases (37.5%), and expression of CD133-2 in 30 cases (62.5%) was positive from 48 cases with newly diagnosed ALL (P0.05). At 33rd day of treatment, expression of CD133-1 in 2 cases (8.0%) from 25 cases was positive, and expression of CD133-2 in 23 cases (92.0%) was positive (P0.05). After induction chemotherapy in B-ALL, the expression of CD133-1 decreased significantly, but still higher than that in the normal control group. Compared to expression of CD133-1, expression of CD133-2 decreased slowly. It is concluded that there is no relations among expression of CD133 and sex, age, white blood cell count, percentage of bone marrow blast cells, FAB subtype, cytogenetics, leukemia fusion gene, risk stratification and complete remission rate in childhood B-ALL. The positive expression rates and levels of CD133-2 are higher than those of CD133-1 in B-ALL. There is no statistical correlation between expression of CD133 and CD34 in B-ALL. This study examined the potential of human amniotic mesenchymal (hAMSC) transplantation in repairing neurological deficits in an experimental focal cerebral ischemia model. Following isolation of hAMSC, growth characteristics and surface antigen expression was observed. Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) was used to induce the cultured cells into neuron-like cells, identified by immunocytochemistry. The suture model was used to induce focal cerebral ischemia in the rats, which were subsequently randomly divided into experimental and control groups for treatment with BrdU-labeled hAMSCs or PBS, respectively. Neurological deficits were assessed after transplantation using the Neurological Severity Scores, Beam Balance Test, and Elevated Body Swing Test. Eight weeks later rat brain tissue was processed for hematoxylin-eosin staining and BrdU immunohistochemistry, and survival and spatial distribution of transplanted hAMSCs. hAMSCs proliferated in vitro, and neuron specific enolase expressed in neurons and glial fibrillary acidic protein in astrocytes. The focal ischemia model resulted in varying degrees of left limb hemiplegia accompanied by the right side of Horner’s sign.
