Zeolites with unique framework structure have wide applications, such as ions’ exchangers, molecular sieves and catalysts. This work focused on the synthesis and characterization of zeolite by recycling coal fly ash as the starting material via hydrothermal method. The intermediate phases and final products were characterized by XRF, XRD, FT-IR, SEM and BET techniques. The effects of aging time on the crystallization/transformation of zeolite were discussed. The results showed that the alkali-activated coal fly ash after hydrothermal process could lead to the formation of zeolite Na-P1. Furthermore, the aging treatment benefited the formation of homogenous zeolite Na-P1 with smaller particle size, larger specific surface area, total pore volume and pore size.

This paper studies the H∞ consensus problem of multi-agent systems by means of a simultaneous stabilization approach. It is shown that the H∞ consensus design problem for n coupled agents can be equivalently characterized as a problem of the simultaneous H∞ stabilization of n − 1 independent subsystems. A new consensus analysis condition is obtained by investigating the corresponding simultaneous H∞ stabilization problem. Based upon the analysis condition, a necessary and sufficient condition is derived to guarantee the consensus of multi-agent systems with a prescribed H∞ performance, where the controller gain matrix is not coupled with the Lyapunov matrices, but parametrized by a positive-definite matrix. Iterative convex optimization approaches are further developed to solve the synthesis condition and to choose the initial values. Finally, a numerical example is given to show the applicability of the results.

This paper studies the consensus problem of the multi-agent systems with parallel Luenberger observers. First, the structure of the cooperative system is established, where the output of the built-in Luenberger observer for each agent is used as its local control input and the cooperative control input combining with the cooperative measurement output is utilized as the input of the observers. Based on the structure of the closed-loop system, the consensus problem is then analyzed. In addition, two methods for designing the controller gains are provided. By virtue of the proposed structure, it is pointed out that the design of the controller gains and the observer parameters can be carried out separately. Finally, by resorting to the gradient flow method, an optimization algorithm is proposed to reduce the influence of the environmental noises. The effectiveness of the obtained results is shown through a numerical example.

This article investigates the consensus problem of multi-agent systems MASs with imperfect communication both in channels and in actuators. The data transmission among agents may fail due to limited communication capacity, and the actuators may fail to receive information owing to noisy environment. We use a Markov chain approach to characterise the occurrence of the two types missing data in a unified framework. A sufficient consensus condition is first obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Then, based on this condition, a novel controller design method is further developed such that the MAS with imperfect communication reaches mean-square consensus. It is shown that the consensus problem for MASs with switching topology can be regarded as a special case of the problem considered in this article, and the related theoretical results are presented as well. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This paper investigates adaptive flocking of multi-agent systems (MASs) with a virtual leader. All agents and the virtual leader share the same intrinsic nonlinear dynamics, which satisfies a locally Lipschitz condition and depends on both position and velocity information for the agent itself. Under the assumption that the initial network is connected, an approach to preserving the connectivity of the network is proposed. On the basis of the Lyapunov stability theory, an adaptive flocking control law is derived, for making the MASs track the virtual leader without collision. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most malignant primary brain tumor and more resistant to radiotherapy. However, hetero-radiosensitivity occurs in different patients. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in the initiation and progression of a multitude of tumors. The study aims to examine the different microRNAs expression profiles of postoperative radiotherapy sensitive and resistant patients with GBM, to make an inquiry about their potential role and discover a certain set of radio-sensitivity markers. Three paired samples from six GBM patients who had only been treated with postoperative radiotherapy were selected, and then, they were divided into radiotherapy sensitive group and resistant group according to their overall survivals, local recurrence rates, and Karnofsky Performance Scale scores. Expression profiles of miRNAs in these two groups were determined by the method of microarray assay. Comparing with resistant patients, 13 miRNAs were significantly upregulated and 10 miRNAs were greatly downregulated in sensitive group. Among them, four miRNAs were validated by quantitative RT-PCR. The differentially expressed miRNAs and their putative target genes were revealed by bioformatic analysis to play a role in cell signaling, proliferation, aging, and death. High-enrichment pathway analysis identified that some classical pathways participated in numerous metabolic processes, especially in cell cycle regulation, such as mTOR, MAPK, TGF-beta, and PI3K-Akt signaling pathways. Our research will contribute to identifying clinical diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets in the treatment of GBM by postoperative radiotherapy.

The aim of the present study was to study the expression of anterior gradient 2 (AGR2) to determine its clinical significance in pituitary adenoma (PA), and to evaluate the potential effect of AGR2 on the diagnosis, therapy or prognosis of PA. Immunohistochemistry was performed to detect the expression of AGR2 in 117 PA tissue samples. Western blotting was performed to confirm the expression profile of AGR2 in different subtypes of PAs. The data showed that in 117 different histological subtypes of PA, 51.3% exhibited AGR2-positive expression. Although AGR2 expression occurred more frequently in PAs secreting growth hormone (GH; 62.5%), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH; 80.0%) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH; 75.0%),the positive expression rate of AGR2 showed no statistically significant differences between PA subtypes (P>0.05). The association between AGR2 expression and clinical parameters was analyzed using a χ2 test, or Fisher's exact probability test when appropriate. The result showed that the aggressiveness of PA was significantly associated with AGR2 expression, and that in the majority of aggressive PAs, AGR2 was negative (P0.05). AGR2 may be a target for the study of PA aggressiveness, and a potential index for the diagnosis or prognosis of PAs.

In this paper, the problem of mixed additive/multiplicative model reduction for stable linear continuous-time systems is studied. To deal with nonsquare or nonminimum phase systems, the multiplicative error bound is constructed using spectral factorization technique. By virtue of the bounded real lemma and the projection lemma, a linear matrix inequality approach is proposed for mixed additive/multiplicative H∞ model reduction, which can be implemented by the well-known cone complementary linearization method. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of the obtained results.

Background Patients with pituitary adenomas usually receive “stress dose” steroids in the peri-operative peroids. Though randomized controlled trials(RCT) have not been performed to assess the necessity of steroid coverage, there are several studies that explained the changes of adrenal function during peri-operative peroids. The aim of the present study is to investigate whether it is necessary to employ conventional peri-operative glucocorticoid replacement therapy to all the patients undergoing surgery. Methods We searched studies addressing peri-operative steroids coverage for pituitary adenomas in the Web of Science, Medline and the Cochrane Library. Then we extracted studies about peri-operative morning serum cortisol(MSC) levels, morbidity of early postoperative adrenal insufficiency, postoperative diabetes insipidus, relationships between MSC levels and adrenal integrity. We used RevMan Software to combine the results for meta-analysis. We used fixed-effects models for there was no significant heterogeneity existed. Findings There are 18 studies from 11 countries published between 1987 and 2013 including 1224 patients. Background To study the expression of D2R, MGMT and VEGF for clinical significance in pituitary adenomas, and to predict the potential curative medical therapy of dopamine agonists, temozolomide and bevacizumab on pituitary adenomas. Methods Immunohistochemistry and western blot were performed to detect the expression of expression of D2R, MGMT and VEGF in pituitary adenoma tissue samples. The ratio of high expression of D2R, MGMT or VEGF in different subtypes of PA was compared by the use of chi-squared tests. The relationships between D2R, MGMT and VEGF expression were assessed by the Spearman rank correlation test. The association between their expression and clinical parameters was analyzed using a chi-squared test, or Fisher's exact probability test when appropriate. Results The data showed that in 197 different histological subtypes of pituitary adenomas (PAs), 64.9% of them were D2R high expression, 86.3% were MGMT low expression and 58.9% were VEGF high expression. D2R high expression existed more frequently in PRL- and GH- secreting PAs. MGMT low expression existed in all PA subtypes. VEGF high expression existed more frequently in PRL, ACTH, FSH secreting and non-functioning PAs. The data of western blot also support the results. Spearman's rank correlation analysis showed that expression of MGMT was positively associated with D2R (r = 0.154, P = 0.031) and VEGF (r = 0.161, P = 0.024) in PAs, but no correlation was showed between D2R and VEGF expression (r = −0.025, P = 0.725 > 0.05). The association between their expression and clinical parameters was analyzed using a chi-squared test, or Fisher's exact probability test when appropriate, but the result showed no significant association. Conclusions PRL-and GH-secreting PAs exist high expression of D2R, responding to dopamine agonists; Most PAs exist low expression of MGMT and high expression of VEGF, TMZ or bevacizumab treatment could be applied under the premise of indications.

This study considers the state consensus problem of multi-agent systems by virtue of novel simultaneous stabilisation techniques, where the distributed controller is proposed using relative outputs of the agents. A new consensus analysis condition is derived by studying the corresponding simultaneous stabilisation problem. Based on the analysis result, a necessary and sufficient condition is then established to ensure the consensus achievement of multi-agent systems, where the controller gain matrix is parameterised by a positive definite matrix, which is independent of the Lyapunov matrices. Iterative approaches are also developed to solve the design conditions, and to optimise the initial values with the solvability of the original problem improved. Further results are obtained for the dynamic output-feedback case. Finally, a numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the obtained results.
