10. Cesium Cyclopropane Acid‐Aided Crystal Growth Enables Efficient Inorganic Perovskite Solar Cells with a High Moisture Tolerance.

Abstract

While all‐inorganic halide perovskites (iHPs) are promising photovoltaic materials, the associated water sensitivity of iHPs calls for stringent humidity control to reach satisfactory photovoltaic efficiencies. Herein, we report a moisture‐insensitive perovskite formation route under ambient air for CsPbI2Br‐based iHPs via cesium cyclopropane acids (C3) as a compound introducer. With this approach, appreciably enhanced crystallization quality and moisture tolerance of CsPbI2Br are attained. The improvements are attributed to the modified evaporation enthalpy of the volatile side product of DMA‐acid initiated by Cs‐acids. As such, the water‐involving reaction is directed toward the DMA‐acids, leaving the target CsPbI2Br perovskites insensitive to ambient humidity. We highlight that by controlling the C3 concentration, the dependence of power conversion efficiency (PCE) in CsPbI2Br devices on the humidity level during perovskite film formation becomes favorably weakened, with the PCEs remaining relatively high (>15 %) associated with improved device stability for RH levels changed from 25 % to 65 %. The champion solar cells yield an impressive PCE exceeding 17 %, showing small degradations (<10 %) for 2000 hours of shell storage and 300 hours of 85/85 (temperature/humidity) tests. The demonstrated C3‐based strategy provides an enabler for improving the long‐sought moisture‐stability of iHPs toward high photovoltaic device performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

15. Reduction in the temperature coefficient of photovoltaic efficiency in all-polymer solar cells using molecular order

Abstract

Controlling the phase morphology of photoactive layers toward satisfactory charge transport with reduced energetic disorder is the key to obtaining targeted efficiencies in organic solar cells (OSCs). On the basis of an all-polymer model system, i.e., PM6/PYF-T-o, we investigated the effects of phase morphology on temperature-dependent charge carrier transport and photovoltaic behavior in all-polymer solar cells prepared through a layer-by-layer (LBL) process. The combined in-situspectroscopic and morphological analyses reveal that the formation of a fibril structure during the self-assembly of donor molecules and the favorable pure phase of a polymeric acceptor component could promote charge transport. Such morphological features reduce the thermal activation energy (Ea) for the carriers. The LBL-processed PM6/PYF-T-osolar cells exhibit a surprisingly small temperature coefficient of power conversion efficiency (PCE), i.e., upon cooling the device to 215 K, the PCE remains at 94.0% of the value at ambient room temperature (RT = 298 K) (PCE of 15.65% at 215 K and 16.70% at RT). This study offers an attractive approach for mediating carrier transport and photovoltaic performance in OSCs toward applications in a temperature-variable environment.

17. Energy release effect in antiferroelectrics

Abstract

The energy release effect is an effect that happens during the process of withdrawing the electric field after charging electric energy into the materials, which can be represented by the amount of recoverable energy storage density. On the basis of the previously derived relationship between the antiferroelectric hysteresis loop with temperature from the phenomenological theory by considering two different responses of the two polarizations in opposite directions to an applied electric field, the relationship between the recoverable energy storage density with temperature during the process of withdrawing the electric field is systemically studied in the second-order phase transition antiferroelectrics. The results show that there are two peaks of the recoverable energy storage density in the temperature spectrum: the smaller energy density peak is in the antiferroelectric phase, and the other larger peak is in the paraelectric phase at the temperature slightly higher than the Curie temperature. When the temperature decreases from the Curie temperature, the recoverable energy storage density will gradually increase to the smaller peak and then slowly decrease. This conclusion is consistent with many experimental results on antiferroelectric materials including ceramics, thin films, and single crystals. The further analysis of the effect of the Gibbs free energy on the energy release effect shows that the two coefficients of the Gibbs free energy are essential for the width and height of the peak of recoverable energy storage density. Specifically, the smaller is the coefficient of the quadratic power of polarization, the wider is the temperature width of the peak, or temperature stability, the smaller is the coefficient of the fourth power of polarization, and the higher is the height of the released energy peak. These two parameters dominate the behaviors of polarization, energy storage characteristic, and the dielectric constant of the antiferroelectrics, and establish the correlation between the dielectric constant peak and the higher energy storage density peak. Therefore, the basic energy release effect can be determined from the dielectric properties.
