Drawing on insights from a four-day online workshop, which explored geo-engineering and policy making with 13 youth participants, an academic and youth authorial team provide a guide to the co-creation of policy briefs. Drawing on excerpts from the policy brief at different stages of development and commentary provided by the authors during the workshops, we set out four stages including (1) Identifying the key message and audience, (2) Reading and critically engaging with examples of policy briefs during the drafting process, (3) Developing the policy brief text, and (4) Reviewing and revising the policy brief. We have developed this guidance with a co-creative, group work approach in mind and suggest that this has relevance for those working in and beyond the discipline of geography.

This study investigated the factors that parents considered when sending their children back to school after the COVID-19 outbreak and analyzed the dilemma that parents were facing. A total of 1067 questionnaires were collected through snowball sampling. After three levels of coding based on Grounded Theory and Field Theory, parents' key concerns were categorized as four personal factors (i.e., intuitive expectation, health issue, learning effectiveness, perceived epidemic safety) and three environmental factors (i.e., school environment, family environment, social environment). By factor weight analysis using the Kruskal-Wallis H test, a field model of factors that affect parents' willingness was set up. Results indicated that learning effectiveness is the most critical factor affecting parents' willingness. By considering both personal and environmental factors, most parents were not satisfied with the effect of home-based online education and expressed their willingness to send their children back to school and resume classes; however, they also worried about students' epidemic awareness and self-protection abilities. Students' development highly depends on the social atmosphere, a regular schedule, and environmental support from schools, which can hardly be achieved by home-based online learning. The findings suggest that the joint efforts of society, schools, and families are needed on the issue of students returning to school after the COVID-19 outbreak.

Background and purpose: The occurrence of lymph node metastasis in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) can have adverse effects on the prognosis of patients. This study aimed to investigate risk factors related to the occurrence of contralateral central lymph node metastases (CLNM) and contralateral lateral lymph node metastases (LLNM) when imaging suspected ipsilateral LLNM in unilateral PTC. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 526 patients who received surgical treatment in the same treatment group of Jiangsu Cancer Hospital Head and Neck Surgery Department from January 2011 to December 2021. They were initially treated with total thyroidectomy and bilateral central lymph node dissection (CLND) ± lateral lymph node dissection, and their postoperative pathology was uni-PTC. This study analyzed the relevant high-risk factors of contralateral lymph node metastasis. Results: Among the 526 patients, 295 had CLNM, including 272 ipsilateral CLNM, 129 contralateral CLNM and 106 of both sides CLNM; 165 patients had LLNM including 129 ipsilateral LLNM, 18 contralateral LLNM, and 18 of both ipsilateral and contralateral LLNM. Contralateral CLNM occurred in 65 (17.8%) of 365 patients who underwent preventive CLND, and contralateral CLNM was found in 68 (42.2%) of 161 patients with therapeutic CLND. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses showed that contralateral CLNM was associated with maximum diameter of tumor ≥2 cm, multiple foci, no Hashimoto's thyroiditis, tumor invasion, number of CLNM≥6 and age

A multi-channel simultaneous emission non-invasive flow velocity measurement system is introduced and validated in this paper, which adapts to industrial large-diameter pipelines. In particular, the ultrasonic simultaneous emission mode is applied to the whole system to achieve real-time flow measurement. This technology reduces measurement errors in ultrasonic flow measurements caused by changes in fluid state and timing variations. Sixteen non-invasive ultrasonic transducers are used in the system, together with the precision measurement circuit, efficient data acquisition system and real-time display upper computer program. The flow rate can be accurately measured and displayed without interrupting the fluid flow. Furthermore, a period-invariant dual-threshold method is applied to locate feature points in the ultrasonic signals to ensure that high accuracy and stability are maintained in the final result. We integrate recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) with CRISPR/Cas9-initiated nicking rolling circle amplification (CRISPR/Cas9-nRCA) for detecting Staphylococcus aureus. This approach utilizes a unique dimeric G-triplex structure, demonstrating firstly enhanced ThT fluorescence for target detection. This study introduces a one-pot isothermal amplification assay for ultrasensitive analysis of terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) activity. The system realizes recycled activation of CRISPR/Cas12a, enabling exceptional signal amplification. Jiang Chengyong is one of the most distinguished Chinese scholars of 19th-century western literature, whose works have guided our research in many directions and opened up new avenues for explorations. This paper attempts to survey Jiang's scholarship of 19th-century western literature and to highlight his achievements in this field from three aspects. First, it interrogates Jiang's efforts invested in 19th-century Western literary trends, with reference to his ambitious pursuit of constructing a critical discourse for foreign literature studies. Second, it attempts to reveal Jiang's methodological innovations in his works on 19thcentury western literature, especially in regards to his significant proposal for an interdisciplinary approach to foreign literature in "Internet-globalization" era. Third, it traces Jiang's exploration of the dialectical relationship between literature and science which is typically embodied in 19th-century western writers' "resistance" to and "acceptance" of science.
