Diffusion processes occurring at the boundary between willemite glass-ceramic glaze and quartz glass ceramics are considered. Formation of a transitional contact zone between glaze and quartz glass ceramics is experimentally established, which ensures the formation of a strong bond of the coating to the substrate. The extent of the contact zone and the concentration distribution of components in this zone are determined using the method of layer-by-layer pickling and x-ray-fluorescent analysis. Coefficients of mutual diffusion of potassium and silicon ions are calculated for the glaze firing conditions.

There is a sharp change in the sensitivity to caffeine and strophanthin in cats revived after clinical death by V. A. Negovskii's method. In the first minutes following their revival the sensitivity of cats to caffeine decreases and that to strophanthin increases.

An inquiry was made into the regularities of the portal system of animals after fatal blood loss and resuscitation following clinical death. The mechanisms capable of providing blood accumulation in the portal circulation at the initial period of revivial were revealed. The following factors which could prevent normalization of the vital activity were noted: a) aggregation of erythrocytes obstructing some small blood vessels, b) possibility of fat drops penetrating into the circulation during agony, c) blood thickening in the portal circulation, inhibiting its movement along the capillary bed and oxygen exchange.

For the rapid and simultaneous determination of several vitally important parameters of the state of liver tissue the vital dye neutral red was injected into the portal vein. The morphological state of the tissue, the adsorptive power of the liver cells, the efficiency of the microcirculation of the blood, and the pH shift were determined in histological sections cut from part of the piece of liver taken for investigation. From the other part of the piece of liver tissue the dye was extracted and the total quantity of dye adsorbed was determined.

A description is given of an untraumatic method for measuring the circulation in the pulmonary artery. A vascular prosthesis is sutured end to side into the pulmonary artery, and the blood flow is measured without previous occlusion of the pulmonary artery. During the experiment the blood follows its usual course. It flows through the “system” only during the period of measurement.
