Selective separation of CO2/CH4 and C2H2/CH4 are promising for their high-purity industrial demand and scientific research on account of the similar molecular radius and physical properties. In this work, a unique 3D microporous MOF material [Cu(SiF6)(sdi)2]·solvents (1, sdi = 1,1′-sulfonyldiimidazole) was successfully constructed by cross-linking 1D coordination polymer chains. The dense functional active sites on the inner walls of the channel of 1a can provide strong binding affinities to CO2, C2H2, and thus effectively improve the gas separation performance of CO2/CH4 and C2H2/CH4.

Two luminescent coordination polymers (CPs), {[Cd2L2(H2O)4]·H2O}n (1) and {[Zn2L2(H2O)4]·H2O}n (2) (H2L = 5-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)isophthalic acid) are reported herein. The CPs reveal readily dispersible two-dimensional (2D) layer structures with considerable stability in aqueous media within a wide pH range (pH = 2–12). Sensing experiments indicate that they can serve as highly selective and sensitive fluorescent probes toward CrVI-anions (CrO42− and Cr2O72−).

A novel Cd(II) metal–organic framework, [Cd3L3(DMF)2]n (1), was synthesized using 5-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)isophthalic acid (H2L) and Cd(NO3)2·6H2O under solvothermal condition. The structure of 1 was characterized by X-ray crystallography, elemental analysis, and IR spectrum. Compound 1 possessed a fascinating three-dimensional (3D) double-walled framework with one-dimensional (1D) channels. The luminescence properties of compound 1 toward anion detection were systematically investigated. The results indicate that compound 1 behaves as a highly selective and sensitive ‘turn-off’ luminescence probe toward Cr2O72− anion.

By using a carbazole derived triangular carboxylic ligand, a Zn(II) based metal–organic framework (MOF) revealing a high porosity framework structure and carbazole based intense blue-light emission is obtained. The structural and photophysical characteristics of the MOF make it an ideal energy transfer platform for the accommodation and sensitization of red and green fluorescent dyes for the tuning of white light emission. By simultaneously introducing red and green fluorescent dyes into the host MOF framework and carefully controlling their contents, a high performance white-light-emitting luminophore was obtained. The luminophor reveals Commission International de l'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.32, 0.31), a correlated colour temperature (CCT) of 6186 K, a colour-rendering index (CRI) of 91, and a high quantum yield of up to 39.4%, which could be a candidate for application in white-light-emitting diodes (WLEDs).

BACKGROUND Polyethyleneimine (PEI) had attracted wide interest due to not only its good hydrophilicity but also its high density of amino groups across the polymer chain. In order to study deeply the effect of PEI as spacer arm on dye ligand modification and further protein adsorption, poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) magnetic microspheres were fabricated, grafted with PEI, and further modified with an affinity dye-ligand, Cibacron Blue F3GA (CB). RESULTS CB density of these CB-PEI-PMMA microspheres was determined to be 370.7 μmol/g for CB-PEI 600-PMMA, 355.2 μmol/g for CB-PEI 1800-PMMA, and 317.6 μmol/g for CB-PEI 70000-PMMA microsphere, respectively. Moreover, bovine serum albumin (BSA) adsorption capacity of PEI-PMMA and CB-PEI-PMMA microspheres increased greatly compared with PMMA microspheres. Furthermore, the effects of temperature, BSA initial concentration, pH and ionic strength on BSA adsorption were studied. And CB-PEI 70000-PMMA microspheres exhibited the maximum adsorption of 103.6 mg/g. CONCLUSION The results demonstrated the versatility of PEI as spacer arm. The information obtained from the present work could be utilized for rational design of carriers for protein adsorption or enzyme immobilization.

One new tetranuclear dysprosium compound, namely [Dy4(μ3-OH)2(L)6(tmhd)4]·CH3CN (1) (HL = 5-(4-methylbenzylidene)-8-hydroxylquinoline; tmhd = 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedione) was successfully synthesized and characterized. The structure of 1 was established by the single crystal X-ray diffraction technique, and the center Dy(III) ions was bridged by μ3-OH molecules and phenoxide oxygen atoms, displaying a ‘butterfly’ arrangement. Magnetic studies reveal that weak ferromagnetic interaction between adjacent Dy(III) exists in 1. Additionally, it also exhibits slow magnetic relaxation behaviors with the energy barrier of 46.4 K.

A new Cd-based coordination polymer, [Cd(cpt)(HCOO)]n (1), has been synthesized from 1-(4-carboxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazole) ligand (Hcpt). The structure was characterized through X-ray crystallography, elemental analysis, and IR spectrum. Compound 1 presents a three-dimensional (3D) pillared-layer structure constructed by metal-formate layers and cpt− ligands. Moreover, the unusual formate anions are generated in situ from the decomposition of DMF precursors. The fluorescence property of 1 in solid state was also researched.

A Cd(II)-based metal–organic framework, {[Cd2L(H2O)2]·DMF·H2O}n (1), has been successfully constructed from a new flexible antler-like multidentate ditopic ligand (H4L). This metal–organic framework shows highly sensitive fluorescence sensing of nitrobenzene.
