Most have better biocompatibility than metallic nanomaterials do for management of dental caries.Objective: The objective of this study is to review the types, properties and potential uses of non-metallic nanomaterials systematically for managing dental caries.Methods: Two researchers independently performed a literature search of publications in English using PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science. The keywords used were (nanoparticles OR nanocomposites OR nanomaterials) AND (caries OR tooth decay). They screened the titles and abstracts to identify potentially eligible publications of original research reporting non-metallic nanomaterials for caries management. Then, they retrieved and studied the full text of the identified publications for inclusion in this study.Results: Out of 2497 resulting publications, this study included 75 of those. The non-metallic nanomaterials used in these publications were categorized as biological organic nanomaterials (n=45), synthetic organic nanomaterials (n=15), carbon-based nanomaterials (n=13) and selenium nanomaterials (n=2). They inhibited bacteria growth and/or promoted remineralization. They could be incorporated in topical agents (29/75, 39%), dental adhesives (11/75, 15%), restorative fillers (4/75, 5%), dental sealant (3/75, 4%), oral drugs (3/75, 4%), toothpastes (2/75, 3%) and functional candies (1/75, 1%). Other publications (22/75, 29%) do not mention specific applications. However, most publications (67/75, 89%) were in vitro studies. Six publications (6/75, 8%) were animal studies, and only two publications (2/75, 3%) were clinical studies.Conclusion: The literature showed non-metallic nanomaterials have antibacterial and/or remineralising properties. The most common type of non-metallic nanomaterials for caries management is organic nanomaterials. Non-metallic nanomaterials can be incorporated into dental sealants, toothpaste, dental adhesives, topical agents and even candies and drugs. However, the majority of the publications are in vitro studies, and only two publications are clinical studies.Keywords: nanomaterials, nanoparticles, caries, prevention, antibacterial, remineralisation

Dental restoration is now performed most conservatively with minimal destruction of tooth structure when operative dentistry is indicated. Some operative dentists suggested using tunnel restoration for treating proximal caries as a conservative alternative to the conventional box preparation. The main advantage of tunnel restoration over the conventional box or slot preparation includes being more conservative and increasing tooth integrity and strength by preserving the marginal ridge. However, tunnel restoration is technique sensitive and requires advanced operative skills. Tunnel restoration can be an option to restore proximal caries if the dentist selects the proper case and pays attention to the details of the restorative procedures. With the dentist’s advanced training, advanced light-emitting diode handpieces, magnifying loupes, precise digital imaging and new generation restorative materials, good results can be obtained in selected cases. This study reviews the literature on tunnel restoration and provides updated techniques and clinical data that can be used in tunnel restoration to oversee its limitations and the perspective on restorative treatment.Keywords: minimally invasive, tunnel restoration, proximal caries, tunnel preparation, restorative dentistry

However, the insertion of implants turns a free-end saddle into a bounded saddle. Still, patients may not be able to accept implant insertions due to financial reasons, systemic medical conditions, local anatomical factors or complicated treatments involving surgery. Hence, patients with missing teeth often prefer to use removable partial dentures to improve their dental aesthetics and to restore their oral function. In this article, we use a clinical case to illustrate the clinical procedures required for the fabrication of a distal extension denture with good retention, support, stability, aesthetics and masticatory function. We also review the design for a clasp assembly on the abutment adjacent to the distal edentulous ridge.Keywords: distal extension denture, altered cast technique

Conservative restorative procedures are recommended to replace the complete removal of all carious tissues in the management of dental caries. This article reports two clinical cases of conservative restorations of proximal caries. Different conservative cavity designs and restorative techniques were performed in the two cases. Proximal caries in posterior teeth were prepared using the box-only preparation technique or the proximal tunnel preparation technique. The cavities were restored directly with resin composites. The advantages of using the box-only preparation with fissure sealant included the maximum conservation of tooth hard tissues and the prevention of unnecessary tissue removal in the occlusal surface. The tunnel preparation preserved the marginal ridge and protected the restored tooth from fracture. The filling of composites into the tunnel demonstrated a better marginal adaptation than other restorative materials. These two techniques allowed for the preservation of more healthy dental hard tissue compared with traditional techniques. Potential problems in the restoration included the high incidence of the inappropriate removal of dental hard tissue, damage of the vital pulp and the microleakage due to the polymerization shrinkage. The solutions to minimize the risk of these problems in the operative procedures were discussed.Keywords: case report, caries, restoration, resin composite, minimally invasive dentistry

An immediate complete denture remains a relatively accessible treatment option, particularly for those patients who cannot afford or do not need implant treatment. It is often one of the best solutions when the complete extraction of the remaining teeth is unavoidable. The denture is fitted immediately after the surgical clearance of teeth. It acts as a splint for helping with haemostasis, preventing trauma, and promoting wound healing. More importantly, an immediate denture can copy the characteristics of the existing dentition and establishes the vertical dimension of occlusion. It offers immediate replacement of the missing teeth, thereby avoiding a period of edentulism and social embarrassment. These treatments help relieve patient anxiety and bring about patient satisfaction. This study used a case report to illustrate the clinical procedures required for the construction of an immediate complete maxillary denture with good retention, support, stability, and aesthetics.Keywords: prosthodontics, rehabilitation, immediate complete denture, case report

It is relatively simple, non-invasive and economical compared to other treatment options. Removable partial denture is therefore a common option among various treatment replacing missing teeth. A removable partial denture replacing anterior missing teeth can improve esthetics and hence the patient’s quality of life. However, metal components of a removable partial denture may be visible and affects patient satisfaction. Esthetics of a removable partial denture can often be improved with some modifications to traditional designs. This article reported the use of a cobalt-chromium-based removable partial denture to replace a missing maxillary lateral incisor and molars. Palatal retentive arms were employed as the retentive components on the premolars to avoid the metal component being seen when speaking and smiling. The keywords used were (silver nanoparticles OR AgNPs OR nano silver OR nano-silver) AND (caries OR tooth decay OR remineralisation OR remineralization). They screened the title and abstract to identify potentially eligible publications. They then retrieved the full texts of the identified publications to select original research reporting silver nanomaterials for caries prevention.Results: The search identified 376 publications, and 66 articles were included in this study. The silver nanomaterials studied were categorized as resin with silver nanoparticles (n=31), silver nanoparticles (n=21), glass ionomer cement with silver nanoparticles (n=7), and nano silver fluoride (n=7). Most (59/66, 89%) studies investigated the antibacterial properties, and they all found that silver nanomaterials inhibited the adhesion and growth of cariogenic bacteria, mainly Streptococcus mutans. Although silver nanomaterials were used as anti-caries agents, only 11 (11/66, 17%) studies reported the effects of nanomaterials on the mineral content of teeth. Eight of them are laboratory studies, and they found that silver nanomaterials prevented the demineralization of enamel and dentin under an acid or cariogenic biofilm challenge. The remaining three are clinical trials that reported that silver nanomaterials prevented and arrested caries in children.Conclusion: Silver nanoparticles have been used alone or with resin, glass ionomer, or fluoride for caries prevention. Silver nanomaterials inhibit the adhesion and growth of cariogenic bacteria. Abstract Aims To facilitate dose planning for convergent beam radiotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), tumor response and histological distribution of residual tumors after induction chemoradiotherapy (ICRT) were compared between adenocarcinoma (AD) and squamous cell carcinoma (SQ). Methods Ninety-five patients with N1–2 or T3–4 NSCLC were treated with ICRT followed by surgery; 55 had AD and 40 had SQ. For the evaluation of distribution of residual tumors, the location of the external margin of residual tumors was assessed on surgical materials as follows: radius of whole tumor (“a”); distance between the center of tumor and the external margin of residual tumor (“b”); and its location (“b/a”). Results Of the 55 AD cases, 8 (15%) showed pathological complete remission, which was significantly less frequent than 22 of 40 SQ cases (55%) (p

We report a case of bulky cardiac metastasis of intracranial solitary fibrous tumor/hemangiopericytoma (SFT/HPC). A 72-year-old woman developed a chief complaint of chest pain. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed multiple enhanced masses in the heart, retroperitoneum, and femur. Initially, multiple metastases of cardiac primary angiosarcoma were suspected because the cardiac mass was the largest. However, it was diagnosed as SFT/HPC on the basis of biopsy and immunostaining for the retroperitoneal lesion. She had a history of resected brain tumor surgery for a meningioma 11 years earlier, and pathological reconfirmation revealed this was not a meningioma but rather a SFT/HPC. Thus, we found that the enhanced masses were extracranial metastases of an intracranial primary SFT/HPC. She died approximately 3 years after the onset of chest pain. Autopsy confirmed metastasis in the retroperitoneum, liver, lung, mesentery, skeletal muscle, and bone in addition to the heart. SFT/HPC has been reported to easily recur locally and to show systemic metastasis over the long term. Given that SFT/HPC has been recognized as a subtype of meningioma, the differential diagnosis for patients with a history of intracranial tumors, such as meningioma, should include SFT/HPC. A healthy 45-year-old Japanese female developed right pleural effusion, ascites, and a pelvic mass. Bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy resolved the pleural effusion and ascites. Histopathological examination of the ovaries showed bilateral Krukenberg tumors with signet-ring cell carcinoma (SRCC). Extensive testing including upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy and whole-body imaging did not detect the primary lesion. Six months after bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, the patient developed multiple osteoblastic bone lesions in the spine, pelvis, and femurs. A biopsy of the bone marrow showed SRCC. We administered four cycles of S-1 and cisplatin, resulting in the shrinkage of osteoblastic lesions; she remained stable for a year. Then, she developed disseminated intravascular coagulation with disease progression in the bones. Although she was treated with paclitaxel, the disseminated intravascular coagulation progressed, and she died in a month. During the autopsy, microscopic examination revealed four foci of intramucosal gastric SRCC and healthy macroscopic gastric mucosa.

This study aims to provide an overview of the global research trends in the detection and diagnosis of dental caries in the past 20 years. A literature search was conducted in the Scopus Database to retrieve studies on the diagnostic approaches for dental caries published from January 2003 to December 2023. The diagnostic approaches in the retrieved studies were examined and the studies were categorized according to the diagnostic approaches investigated. Bibliometric data including journals, countries, affiliations, authors, and numbers of citations of the publications were summarised. The publications' keyword co-occurrence was analysed using VOSviewer. This bibliometric analysis included 1879 publications investigating seven categories of caries diagnostic approaches, including visual and/or tactile (n = 459; 19%), radiation-based (n = 662; 27%), light-based (n = 771; 32%), ultrasound-based (n = 28; 1%), electric-based (n = 51; 2%), molecular-based (n = 196; 8%) diagnostic approaches, as well as AI-based diagnostic interpretation aids (n = 265; 11%). An increase in the annual number of publications on caries diagnostic approaches was observed in the past 20 years. Caries Research (n = 103) presented the highest number of publications on caries diagnostic approaches. The country with the highest number of publications was the United States (n = 1092). The University of São Paulo was the institution that published the highest number of articles (n = 195). The publication with the highest citation has been cited 932 times. VOS viewer revealed that the most frequently occurring keywords were 'Deep Learning', 'Artificial Intelligence', 'Laser Fluorescence' and 'Radiography'. This bibliometric analysis highlighted an emerging global research trend in the detection and diagnosis approaches for dental caries in the past 20 years. Objective: To assess the fluoride and silver ion release of glass ionomer cement (GIC) restorations, including conventional GIC (CGIC) and resin-modified GIC (RMGIC) restorations, with 38 % silver diamine fluoride (SDF) solution dentin pretreatment., Methods: Eighty dentin blocks were allocated into 4 groups and restored with SDF+CGIC, CGIC, SDF+RMGIC and RMGIC, respectively. Each block was stored in deionized water at 37 °C for 2 years. Fluoride and silver ion concentration in storage solution was measured using ion-selective electrode and inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry for up to 2 years. The cross-sectional surfaces of restored dentin blocks were assessed by X-Ray diffraction analysis (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) after 1 week and 2 years, respectively., Results: The mean ± standard deviation (SD) of accumulative fluoride releasing in SDF+CGIC, CGIC, SDF+RMGIC and RMGIC for 2 years were 0.13±0.005 mg, 0.09±0.006 mg, 0.15±0.008 mg and 0.05±0.003 mg, respectively (Groups SDF+RMGIC > SDF+CGIC > CGIC >RMGIC, p < 0.05). The mean ± SD of accumulative silver releasing in SDF+CGIC, CGIC, SDF+RMGIC and RMGIC for 2 years were 0.03±0.009 mg, 0.00±0.00 mg, 0.01±0.003 mg, and 0.00±0.00 mg, respectively (Groups SDF+CGIC > SDF+RMGIC > CGIC&RMGIC, p < 0.05). Groups SDF+CGIC and SDF+RMGIC showed sustainably higher fluoride and silver releasing compared to Groups CGIC and RMGIC (p < 0.05). XRD analysis indicated the fluorapatite and silver chloride were observed only in Groups SDF+CGIC and SDF+RMGIC, but not in Groups CGIC and RMGIC. SEM images of the cross-sectional view of the dentin blocks showed silver crystals within dentinal tubules 1 week and 2-year in Groups with SDF pretreatment., Conclusion: The 38 % SDF dentin pretreatment sustainably increased the fluoride and silver release of GIC and RMGIC restorations for up to 2 years., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors state that they have no conflict of interest., (Copyright © 2024. Aim: To study the clinical status and data of laboratory and instrumental examination of patients with non-obstructive ischemic heart disease (IHD) and multifocal atherosclerosis (MFA) included in the KAMMA registry., Material and Methods: The subanalysis included 1,893 IHD patients who underwent coronary angiography (CAG) and ultrasonic examination of peripheral arteries. Based on the CAG data, patients were divided into two groups: group 1, patients with obstructive coronary atherosclerosis (CA) (maximum stenosis ≥50% and/or history of percutaneous coronary intervention/coronary artery bypass grafting, n=1728; 91.3%) and group 2, patients with non-obstructive CA (maximum stenosis &lt;50%, n = 165; 8.7%)., Results: A comparative analysis based on the degree of coronary obstruction in patients with verified IHD who were included in the KAMMA registry showed that 8.7% of them had coronary artery stenosis of less than 50%. The overwhelming majority of patients with non-obstructive CA had MFA affecting the brachiocephalic arteries in 94.3% and the lower extremity arteries in 40.2%. Among patients with non-obstructive IHD, women predominated; risk factors such as smoking and type 2 diabetes mellitus were less frequent in this group than in the obstructive IHD group. Patients with non-obstructive CA more frequently had a history of dyslipidemia; they had higher total cholesterol and non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol; and they more frequently received moderate-intensity statin therapy than patients with obstructive CA (55.8% vs. 34.5%). Characteristic features of patients with non-obstructive CA were less severe IHD and less frequent history of acute coronary syndrome. However, the incidence of stroke, peripheral arterial thrombosis, and chronic arterial insufficiency of the lower extremities did not differ in groups 1 and 2, whereas the incidence of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation was higher in the non-obstructive IHD group., Conclusion: IHD patients without coronary obstruction also require assessment of the peripheral arterial status, as they may have advanced MFA, which should be taken into account when choosing the "aggressiveness" of therapy.

Objective: To develop a novel and biocompatible copper tetraamine fluoride (CTF) with antibacterial and nondiscolouring properties., Method: This study used copper fluoride and ammonia solution to develop CTF solution. The CTF was characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Cytotoxicity was evaluated by stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED) and human gingival fibroblasts (HGF-1). The fluoride concentration was determined using ion-selective electrode. The alkalinity was measured by a pH electrode. The human dentine blocks were treated with CTF and then incubated with Streptococcus mutans to evaluate the antimicrobial and discolouring effects. The silver diamine fluoride (SDF) was employed as the positive control, and water was the negative control. The colony-forming units (CFUs) and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) were used to examine the kinetics and viability of the biofilm. The discolouring property on dentine was assessed by spectrophotometry. One-way analysis of variance with the Bonferroni post hoc test was performed to assess and compare the data., Results: XPS confirmed synthesis of CTF solution. The half-maximal inhibitory concentration of CTF on SHED and HGF-1 was 195±16 ppm and 137±11 ppm. The fluoride concentration was 121,000±5,000 ppm. The pH value was 9. Log 10 CFU of the CTF, SDF and water group were 5.0 ± 0.2, 4.9 ± 0.1 and 7.4 ± 0.1 (p < 0.001, CTF, SDFWater). The article summarizes the results of our own scientific and practical research on biopuncture (or pharmacopuncture) - local stimulation of acupuncture points with small doses of drugs or other agents. The "object" of the work was dorsopathies at the lumbosacral level, the choice of which was explained by the widest coverage of the population, the protracted course and the severity of the consequences. In the course of the research, the addition and even potentiation of the reflex and drug links of the method under consideration was noted. In particular, favorable changes in the status of patients observed against the background of biopuncture by complex agents were accompanied by a significant improvement in the results of psychological and electrophysiological examination. In a series of studies on biopuncture with Alflutop, a significant superiority of this approach over the compared methods was manifested, in addition to clinical effects, in structurally-modifying changes in the intervertebral discs. Using the same drug, an original scheme of therapeutic action was proposed, combining the techniques of drug blockade and pharmacopuncture. Special attention should be paid to the fact that the effectiveness of biopuncture is enhanced due to the combined use of modern hardware techniques. In a series of separate studies, the efficacy of biopuncture with essential oils in dorsopathies was confirmed, largely explained by the cumulative effects.

The COMPASS Collaboration performed measurements of the Drell-Yan process in 2015 and 2018 using a 190  GeV/c π^{-} beam impinging on a transversely polarized ammonia target. Combining the data of both years, we present final results on the amplitudes of five azimuthal modulations, which correspond to transverse-spin-dependent azimuthal asymmetries (TSAs) in the dimuon production cross section. Three of them probe the nucleon leading-twist Sivers, transversity, and pretzelosity transverse-momentum dependent (TMD) parton distribution functions (PDFs). The other two are induced by subleading effects. These TSAs provide unique new inputs for the study of the nucleon TMD PDFs and their universality properties. In particular, the Sivers TSA observed in this measurement is consistent with the fundamental QCD prediction of a sign change of naive time-reversal-odd TMD PDFs when comparing the Drell-Yan process with deep inelastic scattering. Also, within the context of model predictions, the observed transversity TSA is consistent with the expectation of a sign change for the Boer-Mulders function.

A powerful synthetic strategy for the asymmetric synthesis of enantiomerically enriched γ-functionalized α-amino acid derivatives based on the highly stereoselective proline-catalyzed Mannich-type reaction of pre-prepared or in situ -generated γ-pyrone-derived aldimines with carbonyl compounds and subsequent transformations of multifunctional reaction products has been developed. A significant positive nonlinear effect was detected for the key organocatalytic reaction. The developed strategy was applied for facile gram-scale preparation of ( S )-γ-oxonorvaline, used for site-specific modification of proteins, and both enantiomers of amycolatolide A recently isolated from the lichen-derived actinomycete Amycolatopsis sp. YIM 130923.

Proteins, which are ubiquitous in cells and critical to almost all cellular functions, are indispensable for life. Fluorescence imaging of proteins is key to understanding their functions within their native milieu, as it provides insights into protein localization, dynamics, and trafficking in living systems. Consequently, the selective labeling of target proteins with fluorophores has emerged as a highly active research area, encompassing bioorganic chemistry, chemical biology, and cell biology. Various methods for selectively labeling proteins with fluorophores in cells and tissues have been established and are continually being developed to visualize and characterize proteins. This review highlights research findings reported since 2018, with a focus on the selective labeling of cellular proteins with small organic fluorophores and their biological applications in studying protein-associated biological events. We also discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each labeling approach for their utility in living systems.

The genus Hedysarum L. (Fabaceae) includes about 200 species of annual and perennial herbs distributed in Asia, Europe, North Africa, and North America. Many species of this genus are valuable medicinal, melliferous, and forage resources. In this review, we consider the taxonomic history of the genus Hedysarum , the chromosomal organization of the species from the sections Hedysarum and Multicaulia , as well as phylogenetic relationships between these sections. According to morphological, genetic, and phylogenetic data, the genus Hedysarum is divided into three main sections: Hedysarum (= syn. Gamotion ), Multicaulia , and Stracheya . In species of this genus, two basic chromosome numbers, x = 7 (section Hedysarum ) and x = 8 (sections Multicaulia and Stracheya ), were determined. The systematic positions of some species within the sections are still uncertain due to their morphological similarities. The patterns of distribution of molecular chromosomal markers (45S rDNA, 5S rDNA, and different satellite DNAs) in karyotypes of various Hedysarum species made it possible to determine their ploidy status and also specify genomic relationships within the sections Hedysarum and Multicaulia. Recent molecular phylogenetic studies clarified significantly the taxonomy and evolutionary development of the genus Hedysarum.

Objectives: The aim of this research was to assess the diffusion dynamics of silver and fluoride ions after 38% silver diamine fluoride (SDF) solution application on dentine of varying thicknesses over 24 weeks., Methods: Bovine dentine discs of 5.5 mm in diameter were prepared and separated into 3 groups with thicknesses of 0.5 mm (group 1), 1.0 mm (group 2), and 1.5 mm (group 3). The diameter and number of dentinal tubules of discs were assessed. Each disc received a topical application of 0.05 mL 38% SDF solution. The deionised water in the tube was collected weekly for 24 weeks. The silver and the fluoride ion concentrations in the collected deionised water were determined. Generalised estimating equations was used to explore the potential effects of the key factors on the silver/fluoride diffusion., Results: The amount of silver and fluoride ion diffusion through dentine almost levelled off after 4 weeks and showed a decline trend over 24 weeks. The mean (SD) 24-week cumulative ion diffusion through dentine in groups 1, 2, and 3 was as follows: 20 (4) μg, 10 (2) μg, and 5 (1) μg for silver (P < .05) and 18 (2) μg, 13 (2) μg, and 7 (1) μg for fluoride (P < .05), respectively., Conclusions: Silver and fluoride ion diffusion through dentine showed a decline trend over 24 weeks. The diameter and the number of dentinal tubules on dentine with different thicknesses affects the ion diffusion dynamics. This study provides indications on the pattern of silver/fluoride ions diffusion through dentine to pulp after 38% SDF application. Mott metal-insulator transitions possess electronic, magnetic, and structural degrees of freedom promising next-generation energy-efficient electronics. A previously unknown, hierarchically ordered, and anisotropic supercrystal state is reported and its intrinsic formation characterized in-situ during a Mott transition in a Ca 2 RuO 4 thin film. Machine learning-assisted X-ray nanodiffraction together with cryogenic electron microscopy reveal multi-scale periodic domain formation at and below the film transition temperature (T Film  ≈ 200-250 K) and a separate anisotropic spatial structure at and above T Film . Local resistivity measurements imply an intrinsic coupling of the supercrystal orientation to the material's anisotropic conductivity. Glycyrrhizinic acid (GA) is one of the active substances in licorice root. It exhibits antiviral activity against various enveloped viruses, for example, SARS-CoV-2. GA derivatives are promising biologically active compounds from perspective of developing broad-spectrum antiviral agents. Given that GA nicotinate derivatives (Glycyvir) demonstrate activity against various DNA- and RNA-viruses, a search for a possible mechanism of action of these compounds is required. In the present paper, the interaction of Glycyvir with the transmembrane domain of the SARS-CoV-2 E-protein (ETM) in a model lipid membrane was investigated by NMR spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulation. The lipid-mediated influence on localization of the SARS-CoV-2 E-protein by Glycyvir was observed. The presence of Glycyvir leads to deeper immersion of the ETM in lipid bilayer. Taking into account that E-protein plays a significant role in virus production and takes part in virion assembly and budding, the data on the effect of potential antiviral agents on ETM localization and structure in the lipid environment may provide a basis for further studies of potential coronavirus E-protein inhibitors., (Copyright © 2024 Elsevier Inc. In the present work, we report on theoretical studies of thermodynamic properties, structural and dynamic stabilities, dependence of unit-cell parameters and elastic constants upon hydrostatic pressure, charge carrier effective masses, electronic and optical properties, contributions of interband transitions in the Brillouin zone of the novel Tl 2 HgGeSe 4 crystal. The theoretical calculations within the framework of the density-functional perturbation theory (DFPT) are carried out employing different approaches to gain the best correspondence to the experimental data. The present theoretical data indicate the dynamical stability of the title crystal and they reveal that, under hydrostatic pressure, it is much more compressible along the a-axis than along the c-axis. Strikingly, the charge effective mass values ( m e ∗ and m h ∗ ) vary considerably when the high symmetry direction changes indicating a relative anisotropy of the charge-carrier's mobility. Furthermore, the Young modulus and compressibility are characterized by the maximum and minimum values ( E max and E min ) and ( β max and β min ) that are equal to (62.032 and 28.812) GPa and (13.672 and 6.7175) TPa -1 , respectively. Additionally, we have performed calculations of the Raman spectra (RS) and reached a good correspondence with the experimental RS spectra of the Tl 2 HgGeSe 4 crystal. Being a low-toxic and hydrophilic representative of TAM, OX063 has shown its suitability for in-vivo and in-cell EPR experiments and design of spin labels. Using 13C labeling, we investigated the course of oxidative degradation of OX063 into quinone-methide (QM) under the influence of superoxide as well as further thiol-promoted reduction of QM into TAM radical, which formally corresponds to substitution of a carboxyl function by a hydroxyl group. We found these transformations being quantitative in model reactions mimicking specific features of biological media and confirmed the presence of these reactions in the blood and liver homogenate of mice in vitro. The emergence of the trityl with the hydroxyl group can be masked by an initial TAM in EPR spectra and may introduce distortions into EPR-derived oximetry data if they have been obtained for objects under hypoxia. 13C labeling allows one to detect its presence, considering its different hyperfine splitting constant on 13C1 (2.04 mT) as compared to OX063 (2.30 mT). In the title complex, [U(C 10 H 7 N 3 O 3 )O 2 (CH 3 OH)] n , the U VI cation has a typical penta-gonal-bipyramidal environment with the equatorial plane defined by one N and two O atoms of one doubly deprotonated 2-[5-(2-hy-droxy-phen-yl)-1 H -1,2,4-triazol-3-yl]acetic acid ligand, a carboxyl-ate O atom of the symmetry-related ligand and the O atom of the methanol mol-ecule [U-N/O eq 2.256 (4)-2.504 (5) Å]. The axial positions are occupied by two oxide O atoms. The equatorial atoms are almost coplanar, with the largest deviation from the mean plane being 0.121 Å for one of the O atoms. The benzene and triazole rings of the tetra-dentate chelating-bridging ligand are twisted by approximately 21.6 (2)° with respect to each other. The carboxyl-ate group of the ligand bridges two uranyl cations, forming a neutral zigzag chain reinforced by a strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bond. In the crystal, adjacent chains are linked into two-dimensional sheets parallel to the ac plane by C/N-H⋯N/O hydrogen bonding and π-π inter-actions. Further weak C-H⋯O contacts consolidate the three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture. Background: NETs, a unique neutrophil immune mechanism, are vital in defending against microbial invasions. Understanding the mechanisms of co-infection by Candida albicans and Staphylococcus aureus , which often leads to higher mortality and poorer prognosis, is crucial for studying infection progression., Methods: In our study, we established a mouse model of subcutaneous infection to characterize the inflammation induced by co-infection. By purifying and extracting NETs to interact with microorganisms, we delve into the differences in their interactions with various microbial species. Additionally, we investigated the differences in NETs production by neutrophils in response to single or mixed microorganisms through the interaction between neutrophils and these microorganisms. Furthermore, we analyzed the gene expression differences during co-infection using transcriptomics., Results: In vivo, C. albicans infections tend to aggregate, while S. aureus infections are more diffuse. In cases of co-infection, S. aureus adheres to and wraps C. albicans . NETs exhibit strong killing capability against C. albicans but weaker efficacy against S. aureus . When NETs interact with mixed microorganisms, they preferentially target and kill the outer layer of S. aureus . In the early stages, neutrophils primarily rely on phagocytosis to kill S. aureus , but as the bacteria accumulate, they stimulate neutrophils to produce NETs. The article considers issues of organizational and legal progress of social protection of workers involved in medical care during period of COVID-19. The purpose of the study is to analyze regulatory legal documents that define state guarantees that provide social protection for persons involved in the provision of medical care during COVID-19. The attempt was made to analyze international and national information on relevant morbidity, mortality and disability of health care workers, but respective data was not readily available in open admission. The analysis of international documents (the WHO, CDC, JHU reports), public documents of the Russian Federation, information from official websites of the President of the Russian Federation and the executive authorities of the Russian Federation (state reports on sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population in the Russian Federation in 2020-2022) demonstrated the following. The whole world faced with the problem of protecting health care workers from contamination with new corona-virus infection. In the Russian Federation, unprecedented measures were taken to ensure social protection for this category of workers, including provision of additional social benefits.

Objective: To develop a novel glass ionomer cement (NGIC) with enhanced mechanical and chemical properties and assess its biocompatibility, mechanical strength, and ion release., Methods: Nanosilver doped bioactive glass (NanoAg BAG) was synthesized by sol-gel method and characterized by scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The NanoAg BAG, together with poly(vinylphosphonic acid) (PVPA), alumino-fluorosilicate glass and poly-acrylic acid were used to synthesize NGIC. The optimal PVPA concentration for NGIC was determined by PVPA modified GIC's biocompatibility and mechanical properties and used to prepare NGIC specimens. NGIC specimens with NanoAg BAG at 0%, 1%, 2%, and 5% were allocated into Groups NGIC0, NGIC1, NGIC2, and NGIC5, respectively. The biocompatibility, surface morphology, elemental composition, surface topography, chemical properties, compressive strength, diametral tensile strength, and ion release of the NGIC were assessed. A conventional glass ionomer cement (GIC) was used as a control., Results: A granular BAG with nano silver particles attached on its surface were found, indicating the successful synthesis of NanoAg BAG. PVPA at 10% presented the best effect in enhancing the biocompatibility and mechanical properties of PVPA modified GIC and was used to prepare NGIC specimens. NGIC1 showed similar biocompatibility, surface morphology and topography to GIC. Chemical properties results showed that NGICs showed the same adsorption peaks to GIC. The compressive strength (mean±SD in MPa) was 168.1 ± 29.7, 205.5 ± 29.5, 221.8 ± 46.8, 216.6 ± 59.3 and 167.7 ± 36.4, and the diametral tensile strength (mean±SD in MPa) was 14.1 ± 1.7, 18.3 ± 4.9, 21.2 ± 2.2, 17.2 ± 3.8 and 13.3 ± 3.3 for GIC, NGIC0, NGIC1, NGIC2 and NGIC5 respectively. NIGC0, NGIC1 and NGIC2 showed higher compressive and diametral tensile strength than GIC (p < 0.01). NGIC2 and NGIC5 showed higher release of fluoride, calcium, phosphate and silver ion than GIC and NGIC0 (p < 0.05)., Conclusion: A biocompatible NGIC with enhanced mechanical properties were developed. The zirconium metal - organic framework MIP-202(Zr), based on L-aspartic acid, was prepared by hydrothermal method and used for study of ruthenium adsorption from aqueous solutions. The obtained material was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), infra red spectroscopy (IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The batch adsorption experiment was performed for determination of adsorption equilibrium, kinetics and thermodynamics parameters to Ru(III) from aqueous solution on MIP-202(Zr). The data of ruthenium sorption onto MIP-202(Zr) were fitted and analyzed by the Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin equilibrium isotherm models, while the Langumir adsorption isotherm models fit the best. Kinetic data were analyzed by four kinetic models, and ruthenium sorption on MIP202(Zr) can be describes the best by intra particle diffusion (Weber Morris). Objective: To investigate caries preventive effects of 38 % silver diamine fluoride (SDF) pretreatment on neighboring tooth proximal to glass ionomer cement (GIC), including conventional GIC (CGIC) and resin-modified GIC (RMGIC) restorations in an in vitro model., Methods: HUMAN TOOTH BLOCKS WERE RESTORED WITH: SDF+CGIC (Group 1), CGIC (Group 2), SDF+RMGIC (Group 3) or RMGIC (Group 4). Enamel specimen simulating proximal surface of neighboring tooth was placed in proximity to the restorations. The specimen underwent cariogenic challenge with cross-kingdom biofilm of Streptococcus mutans, Lacticaseibacillus casei and Candida albicans. After cariogenic challenge, the biofilm's growth kinetics, viability, and morphology were evaluated by propidium monoazide-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PMA-qPCR), confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. The enamel lesion depth, surface morphology and crystal characteristics were determined by micro-computed tomography (micro-CT), SEM and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively., Results: PMA-qPCR demonstrated lower microbial growth in Group 1 and 3 compared with Group 2 and 4 (p < 0.05). CLSM showed the dead-to-live ratio in Groups 1-4 were 1.15±0.12, 0.53±0.13, 1.10±0.24 and 0.63±0.10, respectively (Group 1,3 > 2,4, p < 0.05). SEM revealed Groups 1 and 3 had scattered biofilm whereas Group 2 and 4 had confluent biofilm. Micro-CT showed the enamel lesion depths (µm) were 98±9, 126±7, 103±6 and 128±7 for Group 1 to 4, respectively (Group 1,3 < 2,4, p < 0.05). SEM revealed oriented and ordered enamel prismatic patterns in Group 1 and 3, not in Group 2 and 4. XRD showed the reflections of hydroxyapatite in Groups 1 and 3 were sharper than Groups 2 and 4., Conclusion: SDF pretreatment enhances the preventive effect of GIC on proximal enamel surface on neighboring tooth through inhibiting cariogenic biofilm, reducing enamel demineralization and promoting enamel remineralization., Clinical Significance: SDF pretreatment of GIC restorations can help prevent caries on neighboring teeth, particular for patients with high caries risk., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare no conflict of interest., (Copyright © 2024 Elsevier Ltd. Aims: Study of the role of mitochondria-generated reactive oxygen species (mtROS) and mitochondrial polarization in mitochondrial fragmentation at the initial stages of myogenesis., Main Methods: Mitochondrial morphology, Drp1 protein phosphorylation, mitochondrial electron transport chain components content, mtROS and mitochondrial lipid peroxidation levels, and mitochondrial polarization were evaluated on days 1 and 2 of human MB135 myoblasts differentiation. A mitochondria-targeted antioxidant SkQ1 was used to elucidate the effect of mtROS on mitochondria., Key Findings: In immortalized human MB135 myoblasts, mitochondrial fragmentation began on day 1 of differentiation before the myoblast fusion. This fragmentation was preceded by dephosphorylation of p-Drp1 (Ser-637). On day 2, an increase in the content of some mitochondrial proteins was observed, indicating mitochondrial biogenesis stimulation. Furthermore, we found that myogenic differentiation, even on day 1, was accompanied both by an increased production of mtROS, and lipid peroxidation of the inner mitochondrial membrane. SkQ1 blocked these effects and partially reduced the level of mitochondrial fragmentation, but did not affect the dephosphorylation of p-Drp1 (Ser-637). Importantly, mitochondrial fragmentation at early stages of MB135 differentiation was not accompanied by depolarization, as an important stimulus for mitochondrial fragmentation., Significance: Mitochondrial fragmentation during early myogenic differentiation depends on mtROS production rather than mitochondrial depolarization. Objectives: To compare the prevention of enamel erosion and discolouring effect with a single and two weekly topical applications of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) solution., Methods: Human enamel blocks were divided into four groups. Group 1 (SDF2) received two weekly applications of SDF solution (Advantage Arrest: 260,000 ppm Ag, 44,300 ppm F, pH 9.1). Group 2 (SDF1) received a single application of SDF solution. Group 3 (SNF, Positive Control) received daily application of stannous-chloride/amine-fluoride/sodium-fluoride solution (Elmex® Enamel professional: 800 ppm Sn(II), 500 ppm F, pH 4.5). Group 4 (DW, Negative Control) received daily application of deionised water. The treated blocks were subjected to a 14-day erosive challenge. Crystal characteristics, elemental composition, surface morphology, percentage of surface microhardness loss (%SMHL), surface loss, and total colour change (ΔE) of the blocks were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Vickers' hardness testing, non-contact profilometry, and digital spectrophotometry, respectively., Results: XRD and EDS revealed precipitates of silver for SDF2 and SDF1 and tin for SNF. SEM showed prominent etched enamel pattern on DW than the other three groups. Objectives: To evaluate the erosion preventive effect of 38 % silver diamine fluoride (SDF) solution in enamel and dentin of human permanent teeth., Methods: Ninety enamel and ninety dentin blocks were prepared from permanent molars and allocated into three groups. Gp-SDF received a one-off application of 38 % SDF solution. Gp-SNF received a one-off application of a solution containing 800 ppm stannous chloride and 500 ppm fluoride. Gp-DW received a one-off application of deionized water. The blocks were submitted to acid challenge at pH 3.2, 2 min, 5 times/day for 7 days. All blocks were immersed in human saliva between cycles for one hour. The crystal characteristics, percentage of surface microhardness loss (%SMHL), surface loss, and elemental analysis and surface morphology were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), microhardness test, non-contact profilometry, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. Data of%SMHL and surface loss were analyzed by one-way ANOVA., Results: XRD spectra revealed that fluorapatite and silver compounds formed in Gp-SDF, while fluorapatite and stannous compounds formed in Gp-SNF. Gp-DW presented only hydroxyapatite. The median (interquartile range) of%SMHL in Gp-SDF, Gp-SNF and Gp-DW were 27.86(3.66), 43.41(2.45), and 46.40(3.54) in enamel (p< 0.001), and 14.21(1.57), 27.99(1.95), and 33.18(1.73) in dentin, respectively (p < 0.001). The mean (standard deviation, μm) of surface loss of Gp-SDF, Gp-SNF, and Gp-DW were 2.81(0.59), 4.28(0.67), and 4.63(0.64) in enamel (p < 0.001) and 4.13(0.69), 6.04(0.61), and 7.72(0.66) in dentin, respectively (p < 0.001). SEM images exhibited less enamel corruption and more dentinal tubular occlusion in Gp-SDF compared to Gp-SNF and Gp-DW. Objectives: Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), including large language models (LLMs), has vast potential applications in health care and education. However, it is unclear how proficient LLMs are in interpreting written input and providing accurate answers in dentistry. This study aims to investigate the accuracy of GenAI in answering questions from dental licensing examinations., Methods: A total of 1461 multiple-choice questions from question books for the US and the UK dental licensing examinations were input into 2 versions of ChatGPT 3.5 and 4.0. The passing rates of the US and UK dental examinations were 75.0% and 50.0%, respectively. The performance of the 2 versions of GenAI in individual examinations and dental subjects was analysed and compared., Results: ChatGPT 3.5 correctly answered 68.3% (n = 509) and 43.3% (n = 296) of questions from the US and UK dental licensing examinations, respectively. The scores for ChatGPT 4.0 were 80.7% (n = 601) and 62.7% (n = 429), respectively. ChatGPT 4.0 passed both written dental licensing examinations, whilst ChatGPT 3.5 failed. ChatGPT 4.0 answered 327 more questions correctly and 102 incorrectly compared to ChatGPT 3.5 when comparing the 2 versions., Conclusions: The newer version of GenAI has shown good proficiency in answering multiple-choice questions from dental licensing examinations. Whilst the more recent version of GenAI generally performed better, this observation may not hold true in all scenarios, and further improvements are necessary. The work presents results of the in vitro and in silico study of formation of amyloid-like structures under harsh denaturing conditions by non-specific OmpF porin of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis (YpOmpF), a membrane protein with β-barrel conformation. It has been shown that in order to obtain amyloid-like porin aggregates, preliminary destabilization of its structure in a buffer solution with acidic pH at elevated temperature followed by long-term incubation at room temperature is necessary. After heating at 95°C in a solution with pH 4.5, significant conformational rearrangements are observed in the porin molecule at the level of tertiary and secondary structure of the protein, which are accompanied by the increase in the content of total β-structure and sharp decrease in the value of characteristic viscosity of the protein solution. Subsequent long-term exposure of the resulting unstable intermediate YpOmpF at room temperature leads to formation of porin aggregates of various shapes and sizes that bind thioflavin T, a specific fluorescent dye for the detection of amyloid-like protein structures. Compared to the initial protein, early intermediates of the amyloidogenic porin pathway, oligomers, have been shown to have increased toxicity to the Neuro-2aCCL-131™ mouse neuroblastoma cells. The results of computer modeling and analysis of the changes in intrinsic fluorescence during protein aggregation suggest that during formation of amyloid-like aggregates, changes in the structure of YpOmpF affect not only the areas with an internally disordered structure corresponding to the external loops of the porin, but also main framework of the molecule, which has a rigid spatial structure inherent to β-barrel.

Arabinogalactan (AG), extracted from larch wood, is a β-1,3-galactan backbone and β-1,6-galactan side chains with attached α-1-arabinofuranosyl and β-1-arabinopyranosyl residues. Although the structural characteristics of arabinogalactan II type have already been studied, its functionalization using 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-oxyl (TEMPO) oxidation remains a promising avenue. In this study, the oxidation of AG, a neutral polysaccharide, was carried out using the TEMPO/NaBr/NaOCl system, resulting in polyuronides with improved functional properties. The oxidation of AG was controlled by analyzing portions of the reaction mixture using spectrophotometric and titration methods. To determine the effect of the TEMPO/NaBr/NaOCl system, air-dried samples of native and oxidized AG were studied by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, as well as by gel permeation chromatography. Compounds that model free (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH)) and hydroxyl radicals (iron(II) sulfate, hydrogen peroxide, and salicylic acid) were used to study the antioxidant properties. It was found that, in oxidized forms of AG, the content of carboxyl groups increases by 0.61 mmol compared to native AG. The transformation of oxidized AG into the H + form using a strong acid cation exchanger leads to an increase in the number of active carboxyl groups to 0.76 mmol. Using FTIR spectroscopy, characteristic absorption bands (1742, 1639, and 1403 cm -1 ) were established, indicating the occurrence of oxidative processes with a subsequent reduction in the carboxyl group. The functionality of AG was also confirmed by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), which is reflected in an increase in molecular weights (up to 15,700 g/mol). A study of the antioxidant properties of the oxidized and protonated forms of AG show that the obtained antioxidant activity (AOA) values are generally characteristic of polyuronic acids. Therefore, the TEMPO oxidation of AG and other neutral polysaccharides can be considered a promising approach for obtaining compounds with the necessary controlled characteristics.

Artificial hybrids between cultivated Avena species and wild Avena macrostachya that possess genes for resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses can be important for oat breeding. For the first time, a comprehensive study of genomes of artificial fertile hybrids Avena sativa × Avena macrostachya and their parental species was carried out based on the chromosome FISH mapping of satellite DNA sequences (satDNAs) and also analysis of intragenomic polymorphism in the 18S-ITS1-5.8S rDNA region, using NGS data. Chromosome distribution patterns of marker satDNAs allowed us to identify all chromosomes in the studied karyotypes, determine their subgenomic affiliation, and detect several chromosome rearrangements. Based on the obtained cytogenomic data, we revealed differences between two A. macrostachya subgenomes and demonstrated that only one of them was inherited in the studied octoploid hybrids. Ribotype analyses showed that the second major ribotype of A. macrostachya was species-specific and was not represented in rDNA pools of the octoploids, which could be related to the allopolyploid origin of this species. Our results indicate that the use of marker satDNAs in cytogenomic studies can provide important data on genomic relationships within Avena allopolyploid species and hybrids, and also expand the potential for interspecific crosses for breeding.

Osteoblasts and osteoclasts collaborate in bone metabolism, facilitating bone development, maintaining normal bone density and strength, and aiding in the repair of pathological damage. Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) can disrupt the intracellular equilibrium between osteoclast and osteoblast, resulting in dysfunctional bone metabolism. The inositol-requiring enzyme-1α (IRE1α) pathway-the most conservative unfolded protein response pathway activated by ERS-is crucial in regulating cell metabolism. This involvement encompasses functions such as inflammation, autophagy, and apoptosis. Many studies have highlighted the potential roles of the IRE1α pathway in osteoblasts, chondrocytes, and osteoclasts and its implication in certain bone-related diseases. These findings suggest that it may serve as a mediator for bone metabolism. However, relevant reviews on the role of the IRE1α pathway in bone metabolism remain unavailable. Therefore, this review aims to explore recent research that elucidated the intricate roles of the IRE1α pathway in bone metabolism, specifically in osteogenesis, chondrogenesis, osteoclastogenesis, and osteo-immunology. The new palladium(II) complex, [Pd(C 16 H 16 N 4 O 3 ) 2 ](CF 3 COO) 2 ·2CF 3 COOH, crystallizes in the triclinic space group P with the asymmetric unit containing half the cation (Pd II site symmetry C i ), one tri-fluoro-actetate anion and one co-crystallized tri-fluoro-acetic acid mol-ecule. Two neutral chelating 2-[5-(3,4,5-tri-meth-oxy-phen-yl)-4 H -1,2,4-triazol-3-yl]pyridine ligands coordinate to the Pd II ion through the triazole-N and pyridine-N atoms in a distorted trans -PdN 4 square-planar configuration [Pd-N 1.991 (2), 2.037 (2) Å; cis N-Pd-N 79.65 (8), 100.35 (8)°]. The complex cation is quite planar, except for the methoxo groups (δ = 0.117 Å for one of the C atoms). The planar configuration is supported by two intra-molecular C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, the π-π-stacked cations are arranged in sheets parallel to the ab plane that are flanked on both sides by the tri-fluoro-acetic acid-tri-fluoro-acetate anion pairs. Apart from classical N/O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, weak C-H⋯F/N/O contacts consolidate the three-dimensional architecture. The article presents review summarizing contemporary National and foreign experience of implementing digital technologies under provision of services in health care. The systematic analysis of data from Scopus, eLibrary, PubMed and others electronic databases permitted to select 30 sources in Russian and English for 2016-2023. Modern digitization trends affect collaborations of companies where vectors of modernization become development of unified digital framework based on common state information system of health care; common educational platform for medical knowledge enriching by AI capabilities, through development of organizational activities and workflows based on digital technologies and services utilizing digital transformation. The deficiency of tools evaluating efficiency of reading software products and scalability of health digitization processes become problematic issues. As of today, diagnostic technologies using AI systems, technologies of lung cancer screening, examination methods of patients with post-traumatic deformations of cheekbone-orbital complex, monitoring of readings of devices with digital registration, further office consulting of various levels and application of AI in neurosurgery were described already. The article also considers issues of telemedicine consultations and development of modernized care models. The authors expect that digital ecosystem in development addressing issues of legal concept of management, financing and system of patient legal protection will do everything necessary to mitigate cyber incidents.

Actually, there was active development of children palliative care service is expressed in increasing of the number of both corresponding departments in medical organizations and children seeking palliative care. The survey of parents of children with palliative status permitted to identify desired organizational forms of medical care of this contingent, their content and aspects of social care. Such problems as shortcomings in infrastructural and material support of departments, personnel deficiency, low level of inclusion of non-medical specialists in multidisciplinary team, need for additional training of physicians and nurses in specifics of palliative medical care and need for sufficient number of pediatric palliative care centers are identified.

This article presents analysis of results of quantitative study "Level of Commitment to Vaccination" based on author's original methodology of survey. The main medical and social causes of decreasing of level of population commitment to vaccination are explained. The purpose of the study is to quantitatively assess commitment to vaccination, to establish both dependence of level of commitment on risk factors of population refusal to be vaccinated and medical and social causes of this phenomenon. Materials and methods. In April-June 2023, sociological survey of respondents (n=300) aged from 19 to 75 years using the author's methodology was implemented. The statistical processing of materials was carried out using statistical software SPSS Statistics 23.0 using correlation analysis and descriptive statistics. The results and discussion. Using correlation analysis (according r-Spearman), dependence of level of commitment on number of medical and social factors was established. The readiness to vaccination depends on degree of trust to medicine. The accessibility of information about National Vaccination Calendar, vaccination scheme and vaccine effectiveness directly impact decision to be vaccinated. Conclusion. The development of complex of measures (technologies) improving population literacy through organization of informational and educational environment will reduce the number of unjustified refusals and increase level of population commitment to vaccination in general.

Infantile functional gastrointestinal disorders, such as colic, constipation, diarrhea, and gastroesophageal reflux (regurgitation), often occur in early infancy and, representing one of the causes of significant parental anxiety, lead to a significant strain on the healthcare resources. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effects of Lactobacillus reuteri drops (L. reuteri NCIMB 30351) on the symptoms of infantile colic, constipation, diarrhea, and gastroesophageal reflux, as well as on the levels of intestinal microbiota in full-term newborns during the first months of life. A randomized, placebo-controlled, single-masked (blinded), post-marketing clinical study was conducted in two clinical units-Children's City Clinical Hospital of Moscow and Medical Center "St. Andrew's Hospitals-NEBOLIT" from March 2020 to May 2022 in 90 infants aged from 1 to 4 months (mean age (± SD) 12.3 ± 5.09 weeks; 53.3% females, 46.7% males). Patients with colic, regurgitation (single symptom or combination of several symptoms), and constipation or diarrhea were randomly allocated in two parallel arms to receive either 5 drops (2 × 10 8 colony forming unit) of L. reuteri NCIMB 30351 (n = 60) or masked placebo (n = 30) for 25 consecutive days. Two treatment arms had equal numbers of patients with constipation and diarrhea (n = 30 each). Daily crying times and their duration, evacuations, and regurgitations were recorded in a structured diary. The levels of gut microbiota were analyzed by deep sequencing of bacterial 16S rRNA gene. Infants with colic receiving supplementary L. reuteri NCIMB 30351 for 25 days had significant reduction in the numbers of colic (change from baseline - 6.3 (7.34) vs - 3.0 (7.29) in placebo, P < 0.05) and numbers of crying cases and mean duration of crying (decrease from baseline - 144 (70.7) minutes, lower in the diarrhea subgroup than in constipation infants, compared with - 80 (58.9) in placebo, P < 0.0001), as well as regurgitation numbers (decreased by - 4.8 (2.49) with L. reuteri vs - 3 (7.74) with placebo). We also observed increased numbers of evacuations in infants with constipation (L. reuteri 2.2 (2.4) vs 0.9 (1.06) in placebo, P < 0.05). There was a remarkable reduction of evacuations in infants with diarrhea, while not statistically significant. The analysis of bacterial 16S rRNA gene in the collected samples showed that L. reuteri positively influences the proportions of prevalent species, while it negatively affects both conditionally pathogenic and commensal microbes. Additional in vitro test for formation of Clostridium colonies in the presence of the probiotic demonstrated that L. reuteri effectively inhibits the growth of pathogenic Clostridium species. No adverse events were reported in this study.   Conclusion: The uptake of L. reuteri NCIMB 30351 leads to a significant reduction in the number of regurgitations, feeding-induced constipations, and diarrhea as well as mean daily numbers of crying and crying duration in infants during the first months of life. Our results suggest that L. reuteri NCIMB 30351 represents a safe and effective treatment for colic in newborns.  Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov : NCT04262648. Influenza A viruses (IAV) are a high threat to humanity because of a lack of proper effective antiviral drugs and resistance of viruses to existing vaccines. We describe the sufficient anti-IAV effect of Ans/PL-Dz nanocomposites that contain deoxyribozymes (Dz) immobilized on anatase TiO 2 nanoparticles (Ans) through polylysine linker (PL). The Dz-containing nanocomposites appear to be more efficient than the Ans/PL-ODN nanocomposites that contain common oligodeoxyribonucleotides (ODN) targeted to the same RNA regions of the viral genome. The simultaneous use of nanocomposites that contain Dz and ODN, which are targeted to different sites of viral RNA provides a higher overall effect than the independent action of each of them (synergism). The inhibition of IAV with the proposed nanocomposites was shown to be effective, sequence-specific, and dose-dependent. The most efficient Ans/PL-Dz nanocomposite exhibited a high antiviral effect in vivo on mice models. The efficiency of IAV inhibition with this nanocomposite in vitro and in vivo is higher than that for the approved antiflu drug oseltamivir. The extraction of lipids by the Folch method from the muscles of all the fish studied led to statistically significant differences in the values of δ 15 N. At the same time, lipid extraction led to a statistically significant increase in δ 13 C in pike and roach, and to a statistically insignificant decrease in δ 13 C in perch and bream. Thus, lipid extraction cannot serve as a universal method of sample preparation for the analysis of the isotopic composition of carbon ( 13 C/ 12 C) and nitrogen ( 15 N/ 14 N) in fish muscles. The differences between the δ 13 C values in the samples before and after lipid extraction were statistically investigated by different models. It is shown that mathematical correction method models can be used, but the results are depending on the fish types.

Magnetic nanocomposites (MNC) are promising theranostic platforms with tunable physicochemical properties allowing for remote drug delivery and multimodal imaging. Here, we developed doxorubicin-loaded Fe 3 O 4 -Au MNC (DOX-MNC) using electron beam physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD) in combination with magneto-mechanochemical synthesis to assess their antitumor effect on Walker-256 carcinosarcoma under the influence of a constant magnetic (CMF) and electromagnetic field (EMF) by comparing tumor growth kinetics, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans and electron spin resonance (ESR) spectra. Transmission (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirmed the formation of spherical magnetite nanoparticles with a discontinuous gold coating that did not significantly affect the ferromagnetic properties of MNC, as measured by vibrating-sample magnetometry (VSM). Tumor-bearing animals were divided into the control (no treatment), conventional doxorubicin (DOX), DOX-MNC and DOX-MNC + CMF + EMF groups. DOX-MNC + CMF + EMF resulted in 14% and 16% inhibition of tumor growth kinetics as compared with DOX and DOX-MNC, respectively. MRI visualization showed more substantial tumor necrotic changes after the combined treatment. Quantitative analysis of T 2 -weighted (T 2 W) images revealed the lowest value of skewness and a significant increase in tumor intensity in response to DOX-MNC + CMF + EMF as compared with the control (1.4 times), DOX (1.6 times) and DOX-MNC (1.8 times) groups. In addition, the lowest level of nitric oxide determined by ESR was found in DOX-MNC + CMF + EMF tumors, which was close to that of the muscle tissue in the contralateral limb. We propose that the reason for the relationship between the observed changes in MRI and ESR is the hyperfine interaction of nuclear and electron spins in mitochondria, as a source of free radical production.
