9. Second Harmonic Generation Properties of RbTiOPO4 Crystal

Abstract

For RbTiOPO4 (RTP) crystal, the second harmonic generation (SHG) properties of 1064nm are discussed, including phase matching (PM) direction, effective nonlinear optical coefficient (deff), walk-off angle, and angular acceptance. For the frequency doubling of nano-second and pico-second Nd:YAG laser, the conversion efficiency of RTP crystal can reach 51 % and 57 %, respectively. The laser damage threshold of RTP crystal is measured.

Abstract

We demonstrate the temperature-dependent fluorescence properties of Pr:LiGdF4 crystal for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, and its blue diode pumped cw red laser at 720 nm at room temperature. The fluorescence lifetime and polarized emission cross sections in the visible range are measured and calculated in a temperature range from 77 K to 300 K, and the variations of the fluorescence lifetime and spectra are discovered. The reasons for these changes are explained accordingly. The output wavelength of the 720 nm laser is first reported on the laser performance by using a fiber-coupled laser diode at the wavelength of 442 nm as the pump source, and the maximum cw output power is about 303 mW. Abstract

A diode-pumped passively mode-locked Nd-doped La3Ga5SiO14 (Nd:LGS) laser is realized by using a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror. With the pump power of 2 W, we obtain a 532 nm self-frequency doubling (SFD) laser together with a 10.9 ps fundamental laser at the repetition rate of 173.7 MHz. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first time for self-frequency doubling in the diode-pumped mode-locked Nd:LGS laser. Benefited from the diode lasers and its self-frequency doubling property, Nd:LGS could be a potential candidate for compact, stable and cheap ultrafast green laser sources. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
