25. Analysis of bacterial community structure of Fuzhuan tea with different processing techniques

Abstract

The composition and diversity of microbial communities are of considerable significance to the quality development of Camellia sinensis (Fuzhuan tea). In this study, we examined differences in the bacterial community structures of loose, lightly-pressed, hand-made, and machine-pressed Fuzhuan teas and raw dark tea. We observed notable differences in the bacterial communities of the five groups, where there were only 51 consensus sequences. ASV/OTU Venn diagram, Chao1, Ace, Simpson indices, and dilution curve analyses consistently revealed that machine-pressed tea exhibited the highest bacterial diversity. Taxonomically, Actinobacteria, Firmicutes, Proteobacteria, and Cyanobacteria were the dominant bacterial phyla in each group, whereas Corynebacterium, Methylobacterium, and Bifidobacterium were the dominant genera. Our findings revealed significant differences in the bacterial community structures of different Fuzhuan tea products derived from the same raw material, with bacterial diversity rising with increased product compaction.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a scoring system for assessing reperfusion status based on arterial spin labeled (ASL) perfusion MRI in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients receiving thrombolysis and/or endovascular treatment. Pseudo-continuous ASL with background suppressed 3D GRASE was acquired along with DWI in 90 patients within 24 h post-treatment. An automatic reperfusion scoring system (auto-RPS) was devised based on the Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) template, and compared with manual RPS and DWI-ASPECTS. TICI (thrombolysis in cerebral infarction) scores were graded in 48 patients who received endovascular treatment. Abstract

Background and purposeMulti-delay arterial spin-labeling (ASL) perfusion imaging has been used as a promising modality to evaluate cerebral perfusion. Our aim was to assess the association of leptomeningeal collateral perfusion scores based on ASL parameters with outcome of endovascular treatment in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in the middle cerebral artery (MCA) territory.Materials and methodsASL data at 4 post-labeling delay (PLD) times (PLD = 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 s) were acquired during routine clinical magnetic resonance examination on AIS patients prior to endovascular treatment. A 3-point scale of leptomeningeal collateral perfusion grade on 10 anatomic regions was determined based on arterial transit times (ATT), cerebral blood flow (CBF), and arterial cerebral blood volume (CBV), estimated by the multi-delay ASL protocol. Based on a 90-day modified Rankin Scale (mRS), the patients were dichotomized to moderate/good (mRS 0-3) and poor outcome (mRS 4-6) and the regional collateral flow scores were compared.ResultsFifty-five AIS patients with unilateral MCA stroke (mean 73.95±14.82 years) including 23 males were enrolled. Compared with poor outcome patients, patients with moderate to good outcomes had a significantly higher leptomeningeal collateral perfusion scores on CBV (3.01±2.11 vs. 1.82±1.51, p=0.024) but no differences on scores on CBF (2.31±1.61 vs. 1.66±1.32, p=0.231) and ATT (2.67±2.33 vs. 3.42±3.37, p=0.593).ConclusionsHigher leptomeningeal collateral perfusion scores on CBV images by ASL may be a specific marker of clinical outcome after endovascular treatment in patients with acute MCA ischemic stroke. Further study with larger sample size is warranted.

41. Trap-Assisted Tunneling in PbS Colloidal Quantum Dots Photodetector

Abstract

Currently, colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) photodetectors have shown significant advancement in the field of infrared photodetection. However, the immature analysis of dark current components hinders the realization of higher performance quantum dots optoelectrical devices. In this study, based on a PbS CQD photodetector, we employ a conventional dark current model of infrared photodetectors to analyze the dark current components of the device, yielding fitting results highly consistent with experimental observations. Our findings indicate that with increasing reverse bias, the dominant dark current components of the PbS CQD photodetector shift from diffusion (Diff) current, generation-recombination (G-R) current, and shunt (sh) current to trap-assisted tunneling (TAT) current. The band diagrams, recombination rates, carrier density distributions, and electric field intensity maps under different biases are further simulated, of which the theoretical results confirm that current components transition is attributed to the abundance of defects in quantum dot materials, leading to tunneling at the interface between the SnO2 layer and PbS-I layer under high bias conditions. Our work contributes to providing insight and direction for optimizing the CQD photodetector performances.

50. Gender- and age-specific reference intervals of common biochemical analytes in Chinese population: Derivation using real laboratory data

Abstract

Background: Indirect sampling methods are not only inexpensive but also efficient for establishing reference intervals (RIs) using clinical data. This study was conducted to select fully normal records to establish age- and gender-specific RIs for common biochemical analytes by laboratory data mining. Methods: In total, 280,206 records from 2014 to 2018 were obtained from Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Common biochemical analytes total protein, albumin, total bilirubin (TBil), direct bilirubin (DBil), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), potassium, sodium, chlorine, calcium, urea, glucose, uric acid (UA), inorganic phosphorus, creatinine (Cr), total cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol] were measured using an automatic analyzer. Sources of variation were identified by multiple regression analysis. The 2.5th and 97.5th percentiles were calculated as the lower and upper limits of the RIs, respectively Results: Gender was the major source of variation among the 13 common biochemical analytes with an rp > 0.15. In contrast to the value listed in the WS/T 404, nearly all RIs established in this study were significantly narrower. Furthermore, age-specific RIs should be determined for DBil, LDH, and urea, whereas gender-specific RIs are suggested for GGT, LDH, and urea. Conclusions: We recommend that gender-specific RIs should be established for ALT, AST, GGT, DBil, TBil, UA, and Cr as well as gender- and age-specific RIs for urea and ALP. Through indirect sampling, age- and gender-specific RIs for common biochemical analytes were established and analyzed.
