In the present study, we conduct numerical simulations of compressible flows around spheroid particles, for the purpose of refining empirical formulas for drag force, lift force, and pitching torque acting on them. Through an analysis of approximately a thousand numerical simulation cases spanning a wide range of Mach numbers, Reynolds numbers and particle aspect ratios, we first identify the crucial parameters that are strongly correlated with the forces and torques via Spearman correlation analysis, based on which the empirical formulas for the drag force, lift force and pitching torque coefficients are refined. The novel formulas developed for compressible flows exhibit consistency with their incompressible counterparts at low Mach number limits and, moreover, yield accurate predictions with average relative errors of less than 5%. This underscores their robustness and reliability in predicting aerodynamic loads on spheroidal particles under various flow conditions.

We accomplish for the first time the next-to-leading-order QCD computations of the leading-twist contributions to the Dirac form factors of both the proton and the neutron by applying the hard-collinear factorization theorem rigorously. The resulting predictions for these baryon form factors indicate that the one-loop perturbative corrections to the hard-gluon-exchange contributions are numerically substantial for a wide range of momentum transfers accessible in the current and forthcoming collider experiments. Including further the (formally) power-suppressed soft contributions due to the celebrated Feynman mechanism, we then perform the state-of-the-art analysis of the Dirac electromagnetic nucleon form factors from first field-theoretical principles, thus allowing for the most robust determinations of the nucleon distribution amplitudes from the direct comparison with the experimental measurements., Comment: 7+4 pages, 4 figures

Few-shot class-incremental learning (FSCIL) aims to learn sequential classes with limited samples in a few-shot fashion. Inherited from the classical class-incremental learning setting, the popular benchmark of FSCIL uses averaged accuracy (aAcc) and last-task averaged accuracy (lAcc) as the evaluation metrics. However, we reveal that such evaluation metrics may not provide adequate emphasis on the novel class performance, and the continual learning ability of FSCIL methods could be ignored under this benchmark. In this work, as a complement to existing metrics, we offer a new metric called generalized average accuracy (gAcc) which is designed to provide an extra equitable evaluation by incorporating different perspectives of the performance under the guidance of a parameter $\alpha$. We also present an overall metric in the form of the area under the curve (AUC) along the $\alpha$. Under the guidance of gAcc, we release the potential of intermediate features of the vision transformers to boost the novel-class performance. Taking information from intermediate layers which are less class-specific and more generalizable, we manage to rectify the final features, leading to a more generalizable transformer-based FSCIL framework. In the present study, we conduct direct numerical simulations of two-way force-coupled particle-laden compressible turbulent boundary layers at the free-stream Mach number of 2.0 for the purpose of examining the effects of particles on the transport of momentum and kinetic energy. By analyzing turbulent databases with various particle Stokes numbers and mass loadings, we observe that the presence of particles suppresses turbulent fluctuations and can even laminarize flow under high mass loading conditions. This is reflected by the wider and more coherent near-wall velocity streaks, reduced Reynolds stresses, and diminished contributions to skin friction and turbulent kinetic energy production. Additionally, the particle feedback force becomes more dominant in turbulent production near the wall and at small scales as mass loadings increase, which is found to be caused by the residual velocity fluctuations from particles swept down from the outer region. Furthermore, we identify that particle dissipation, resulting from the relative velocity between the fluid and particles, accounts for less than 1% of mean kinetic energy viscous dissipation and less than 10% of turbulent kinetic energy dissipation in the case with the highest mass loading. This suggests a modest impact on the internal energy variation of the fluid if two-way heat coupling is introduced. Single-photon sources are essential for quantum networks, enabling applications ranging from quantum key distribution (QKD) to the burgeoning quantum internet. Despite the remarkable advancements, the current reliance of QKD on attenuated coherent (laser) light sources has imposed a fundamental limit on the secret key rate (SKR). This constraint is primarily attributable to the scarcity of single-photon components within coherent light, confined by an inherent upper bound of 1/e. Here, we report high-rate QKD using a high-efficiency single-photon source, enabling an SKR transcending the fundamental rate limit of coherent light. We developed an on-demand, bright semiconductor quantum-dot single-photon source with an efficiency of 0.71(2), exceeding the inherent bound of coherent light by approximately 2.87 dB. Implementing narrow-bandwidth filtering and random polarization modulation, we conducted a field QKD trial over a 14.6(1.1)-dB-loss free-space urban channel, achieving an SKR of 0.00108 bits per pulse. This surpasses the practical limit of coherent-light-based QKD by 2.53 dB. This study focuses on the examination of the island rule within the context of four-dimensional Reissner-Nordstr\"om-AdS (4D RN-AdS) black holes, illuminating the intricate relationship between the entanglement entropy and phase transitions of black holes. The entanglement entropy of 4D RN-AdS black holes follows the anticipated linear growth pattern before ultimately declining to a constant value, in accordance with the well-established Page curve. The novelty of this study lies in the examination of the influence, previously unexplored, of the first-order phase transition on the shape and evolution of the Page curve in situations involving both eternal and evaporating black holes. Despite the morphological alterations of the curve induced by the transition, the inherent unitarity of the system persists. As the evaporation progresses, the Page curve displays diverse configurations, unveiling phenomena that are novel and defies traditional expectations, thereby enriching our comprehension of the thermodynamics of black holes interlinked with quantum information., Comment: 31 pages, 10 figures

Exploring the inverse problem tied to the Page curve phenomenon and island paradigm, we investigate the geometric conditions underpinning black hole evaporation where information is preserved and islands manifest, giving rise to the characteristic Page curve. Focusing on a broad class of static black hole metrics in asymptotically Minkowski or (anti-)de Sitter spacetimes, we derive a pivotal constraint on the blacken factor $f(r)$ for which the island exists and reproduce the Page curve. Specifically, we reveal that a sufficient yet not universally necessary criterion -- manifested in the negativity of the second derivative of $f(r)$, i.e. $f^{\prime \prime} (r)<0$, in proximity to the event horizon where $r \sim r_h+ {\cal O} (G_N)$, ensures the emergence of Page curves in a manner transcending specific theoretical models. Preceding a core-collapse supernova, various processes produce an increasing amount of neutrinos of all flavors characterized by mounting energies from the interior of massive stars. Among them, the electron antineutrinos are potentially detectable by terrestrial neutrino experiments such as KamLAND and Super-Kamiokande via inverse beta decay interactions. Once these pre-supernova neutrinos are observed, an early warning of the upcoming core-collapse supernova can be provided. In light of this, KamLAND and Super-Kamiokande, both located in the Kamioka mine in Japan, have been monitoring pre-supernova neutrinos since 2015 and 2021, respectively. Recently, we performed a joint study between KamLAND and Super-Kamiokande on pre-supernova neutrino detection. A pre-supernova alert system combining the KamLAND detector and the Super-Kamiokande detector was developed and put into operation, which can provide a supernova alert to the astrophysics community. Fully leveraging the complementary properties of these two detectors, the combined alert is expected to resolve a pre-supernova neutrino signal from a 15 M$_{\odot}$ star within 510 pc of the Earth, at a significance level corresponding to a false alarm rate of no more than 1 per century. In recent astronomical observations, an almost dark galaxy, designated as Nube, has unveiled an intriguing anomaly in its stellar distribution. Specifically, Nube exhibits an exceptionally low central brightness, with the 2D half-light radius of its stars far exceeding the typical values found in dwarf galaxies, and even surpassing those observed in ultra-diffuse galaxies (UDGs). This phenomenon is difficult to explain within the framework of cold dark matter (CDM). Meanwhile, due to its ultralight particle mass, fuzzy dark matter (FDM) exhibits a de Broglie wavelength on the order of kiloparsecs under the typical velocities of galaxies. The interference between different modes of the FDM wave gives rise to fluctuations in the gravitational field, which can lead to the dynamical heating of stars within galaxies, resulting in an expansion of their spatial distribution. In this paper, we aim to interpret the anomalous stellar distribution observed in Nube as a consequence of the dynamical heating effect induced by FDM. Our findings suggest that a FDM particle mass around $1-2\times 10^{-23}$ eV can effectively account for this anomaly. A quantum network shared entangled sources among distant nodes enables us to distribute entanglement along the network by suitable measurements. Network nonlocality means that it does not admit a network model involving local variables emitted from independent sources. In this work, we construct an $(n,m,p)$-type quantum network configuration and then derive the corresponding $n$-local correlation inequalities based on the assumption of independent sources. As a universal acyclic network configuration, it can cover most of the existing network models, such as the typical chain-network and star-network, and admit both centerless and asymmetric configurations. Then we demonstrate the non-$n$-locality of the present network by calculating the violation of the $n$-local inequality with bipartite entangled sources and Pauli measurements., Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures

We accomplish for the first time the next-to-leading-order computation of the weak annihilation contribution to the exclusive electroweak penguin decays $B \to \left \{K, \pi \right \} \ell^{+} \ell^{-}$ with an energetic light-flavour meson, which is an essential missing piece of the complete QCD correction to the matrix elements of hadronic operators in the weak effective Hamiltonian. Both the hard functions and the jet functions in the perturbative factorization formulae from the short-distance fluctuations at the two distinct scales $m_b$ and $\sqrt{m_b \, \Lambda}$ are determined at ${\cal O}(\alpha_s)$ with the soft-collinear factorization technique. Building upon the impressive success of CLIP (Contrastive Language-Image Pretraining), recent pioneer works have proposed to adapt the powerful CLIP to video data, leading to efficient and effective video learners for open-vocabulary action recognition. Inspired by that humans perform actions in diverse environments, our work delves into an intriguing question: Can CLIP-based video learners effectively generalize to video domains they have not encountered during training? To answer this, we establish a CROSS-domain Open-Vocabulary Action recognition benchmark named XOV-Action, and conduct a comprehensive evaluation of five state-of-the-art CLIP-based video learners under various types of domain gaps. The evaluation demonstrates that previous methods exhibit limited action recognition performance in unseen video domains, revealing potential challenges of the cross-domain open-vocabulary action recognition task. In this paper, we focus on one critical challenge of the task, namely scene bias, and accordingly contribute a novel scene-aware video-text alignment method. Our key idea is to distinguish video representations apart from scene-encoded text representations, aiming to learn scene-agnostic video representations for recognizing actions across domains. Fluids under extreme confinement exhibit distinctly new properties compared to their bulk analogs. Understanding the structure and intermolecular bonding of confined water lays the foundation for creating and improving applications at the water-energy nexus. However, probing confined water experimentally at the length scale of intermolecular and surface forces has remained a challenge. Here, we report a combined experiment/theory framework to reveal changes in H-bonding environment and the underlying molecular structure of confined water inside individual carbon nanotubes. H-bonding is directly probed through the O-H stretch frequency with vibrational electron energy-loss spectroscopy and compared to spectra from molecular-dynamics simulations based on density-functional-theory. Experimental spectra show that water in larger carbon nanotubes exhibit the bonded O-H vibrations of bulk water, but at smaller diameters, the frequency blueshifts to near the 'free' O-H stretch found in water vapor and hydrophobic surfaces. The matching simulations reveal that, in addition to steric confinement, the tube's vibrations play a key role in breaking up the H-bond network, resulting in an orientationally-dispersed, non-H-bonded phase. Furthermore, the temperature-dependence of the vibrations is investigated, providing insights into phase transitions and the confined-water density. This research demonstrates the potential of the experiment/theory framework to explore unprecedented aspects of structure and bonding in confined fluids.

Two-dimensional hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) have emerged as promising materials for light-emitting diode applications. In this study, by using time-of-flight neutron spectroscopy we identified and quantitatively separated the lattice vibrational and molecular rotational dynamics of two perovskites, butylammonium lead iodide (BA)$_{2}$PbI$_{4}$ and phenethyl-ammonium lead iodide (PEA)$_{2}$PbI$_{4}$. By examining the corresponding temperature dependence, we found that the lattice vibrations, as evidenced by neutron spectra, are consistent with the lattice dynamics obtained from Raman scattering. We revealed that the rotational dynamics of organic molecules in these materials tend to suppress their photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) while the vibrational dynamics did not show predominant correlations with the same. Additionally, we observed photoluminescence emission peak splitting for both systems, which becomes prominent above certain critical temperatures where the suppression of PLQY begins. This study suggests that the rotational motions of polarized molecules may lead to a reduction in exciton binding energy or the breaking of degeneracy in exciton binding energy levels, enhancing non-radiative recombination rates, and consequently reducing photoluminescence yield. These findings offer a deeper understanding of fundamental interactions in 2D HOIPs and could guide the design of more efficient light-emitting materials for advanced technological applications.

The charge density wave (CDW), as a hallmark of vanadium-based kagome superconductor AV3Sb5 (A = K, Rb, Cs), has attracted intensive attention. However, the fundamental controversy regarding the underlying mechanism of CDW therein persists. Recently, the vanadium-based bi-layered kagome metal ScV6Sn6, reported to exhibit a long-range charge order below 94 K, has emerged as a promising candidate to further clarify this core issue. Here, employing micro-focusing angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy ({\mu}-ARPES) and first-principles calculations, we systematically studied the unique CDW order in vanadium-based bi-layered kagome metals by comparing ScV6Sn6 with its isostructural counterpart YV6Sn6, which lacks a CDW ground state. Combining ARPES data and the corresponding joint density of states (DOS), we suggest that the VHS nesting mechanism might be invalid in these materials. Besides, in ScV6Sn6, we identified multiple hybridization energy gaps resulting from CDW-induced band folding, along with an anomalous band dispersion, implying a potential electron-phonon coupling driven mechanism underlying the formation of the CDW order. Our finding not only comprehensively maps the electronic structure of V-based bi-layer kagome metals but also provide constructive experimental evidence for the unique origin of CDW in this system., Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures

As a generalization of the well-known Bell state measurement (BSM), the elegant joint measurement (EJM) is a kind of novel two-qubit joint measurement, parameterized by a subtle phase factor $\theta \in [0,\pi/2]$. We explore quantum teleportation based on the EJM, inspired by Gisin's idea that quantum entanglement not only provides quantum channel and also quantum joint measurement for quantum teleportation. It is a probabilistic teleportation caused by undesired nonunitary quantum evolution. There are two interesting features in the present scenario. First, it goes beyond the conventional teleportation scenario, which can be included in the present scenario. Second, different from the BSM being single input and four outcomes, it can provide an adjustable input setting or even multiple measurement settings for the sender (or the controller). Scattering amplitudes in gauge theories can be calculated either by bulk theories in 4d Minkowski space-time($Mink_4$), or perceived as the correlation functions in celestial CFT(CCFT) living in the celestial sphere at null infinity, where an infinite-dimensional asymptotic symmetry, BMS group, resides. Another well developed method is the CHY formalism, which formulates the scattering amplitude in terms of the correlation functions on a 2d world sheet, on which an ambitwistor string theory is defined. The relationship between CHY theory and CCFT is encoded in scattering equations, which are algebraic equations lacking of analytical solutions in general. So we start from the CHY formalism, take the collinear limit, then find a nice operator formalism for the CCFT. In particular, the center charge $c$ is calculated to be 36 for the CCFT related to the 4d Yang-Mills theory. It then follows that the 4d cosmological constant naturally arises as the finite size effect in 2d CCFT, which is calculated by the method of the $T\bar{T}$ perturbed CCFT., Comment: Typo corrected, refs and note added

Bright, polarized, and high-purity single-photon sources in telecom wavelengths are crucial components in long-distance quantum communication, optical quantum computation and quantum networks. Semiconductor InAs/InP quantum dots (QDs) combined with photonic cavities provide a competitive path leading to optimal single-photon sources in this range. Here, we demonstrate a bright and polarized single-photon source operating in the telecom C-band based on an elliptical Bragg grating (EBG) cavity. With a significant Purcell enhancement of 5.25$\pm$0.05, the device achieves a polarization ratio of 0.986, single-photon purity of g^2 (0)=0.078$\pm$0.016 and single-polarized photon collection efficiency of ~ 24% at the first lens (NA=0.65) without blinking. These findings suggest that C-band QD-based single-photon sources are potential candidates for advancing quantum communication.

Researchers have investigated the potential of leveraging pre-trained language models, such as CodeBERT, to enhance source code-related tasks. Previous methodologies have relied on CodeBERT's '[CLS]' token as the embedding representation of input sequences for task performance, necessitating additional neural network layers to enhance feature representation, which in turn increases computational expenses. These approaches have also failed to fully leverage the comprehensive knowledge inherent within the source code and its associated text, potentially limiting classification efficacy. We propose CodeClassPrompt, a text classification technique that harnesses prompt learning to extract rich knowledge associated with input sequences from pre-trained models, thereby eliminating the need for additional layers and lowering computational costs. By applying an attention mechanism, we synthesize multi-layered knowledge into task-specific features, enhancing classification accuracy. The verbalizer, which serves to map label words to class labels, is an essential component of prompt-tuning. In this paper, we present a novel approach to constructing verbalizers. While existing methods for verbalizer construction mainly rely on augmenting and refining sets of synonyms or related words based on class names, this paradigm suffers from a narrow perspective and lack of abstraction, resulting in limited coverage and high bias in the label-word space. To address this issue, we propose a label-word construction process that incorporates scenario-specific concepts. Specifically, we extract rich concepts from task-specific scenarios as label-word candidates and then develop a novel cascade calibration module to refine the candidates into a set of label words for each class. We evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed approach through extensive experiments on {five} widely used datasets for zero-shot text classification. The results demonstrate that our method outperforms existing methods and achieves state-of-the-art results.

In the present study, we perform direct numerical simulations of compressible turbulent boundary layers at the free stream Mach number of 2 ~ 6 laden with dilute phase of spherical particles to investigate the Mach number effects on particle transport and dynamics. Most of the phenomena observed and well-recognized for inertia particles in incompressible wall-bounded turbulent flows, such as the near-wall preferential accumulation and clustering beneath the low-speed streaks, the flatter mean velocity profiles and the trend variation of the particle velocity fluctuations, are identified in the compressible turbulent boundary layer as well. However, we find that the compressibility effects are significant for large inertia particles. As the Mach number increases, the near-wall accumulation and the small-scale clustering are alleviated, which is probably caused by the variation of the fluid density and viscosity that are crucial to particle dynamics. This can be affected by the fact that the forces acting on the particles with the viscous Stokes number greater than 500 are modulated by the comparatively high particle Mach numbers in the near-wall region. This is also the reason for the abatement of the streamwise particle velocity fluctuation intensities with the Mach numbers.

We determine for the first time the renormalization-group (RG) evolution equation for the $B$-meson soft function dictating the non-perturbative strong interaction dynamics of the long-distance penguin contributions to the exclusive $b \to q \ell^{+} \ell^{-}$ and $b \to q \gamma$ decays. The distinctive feature of the ultraviolet renormalization of this fundamental distribution amplitude consists in the novel pattern of mixing positive into negative support for an arbitrary initial condition. The exact solution to this integro-differential RG evolution equation of the bottom-meson soft function is then derived with the Laplace transform technique, allowing for the model-independent extraction of the desired asymptotic behaviour at large/small partonic momenta., Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures

In some quantum gravity (QG) theories, Lorentz symmetry may be broken above the Planck scale. The Lorentz invariance violation (LIV) may induce observable effects at low energies and be detected at high energy astrophysical measurements. The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory(LHAASO) has detected the onset, rise, and decay phases of the afterglow of GRB 221009A, covering a wide energy range of photons approximately from $0.2$ to $18$ TeV. This observation provides an excellent opportunity to study the Lorentz invariance violation effect. In this study, we simultaneously utilize the data from the KM2A and WCDA detectors of LHAASO, and apply two event by event methods, namely the pair view method and maximum likelihood method, to investigate LIV. We obtain stringent constraints on the QG energy scale. For instance, through the maximum likelihood method, we determine the 95$\%$ confidence level lower limits to be $E_{QG,1} > 14.7 (6.5)\times 10^{19}$GeV for the subluminal (superluminal) scenario of $n = 1$, and $E_{QG,2} > 12.0 (7.2)\times 10^{11}$GeV for the subluminal (superluminal) scenario of $n = 2$. We find that the rapid rise and slow decay behaviors of the afterglow can impose strong constraints on the subluminal scenario, while the constraints are weaker for the superluminal scenario., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures.Accepted for publication in JCAP

We overview the current status and future perspectives of the QCD-based method of light-cone sum rules. The two main versions of these sum rules, using light-meson and $B$-meson distribution amplitudes are introduced and the most important applications of the method are discussed. Photon loss is the biggest enemy for scalable photonic quantum information processing. This problem can be tackled by using quantum error correction, provided that the overall photon loss is below a threshold of 1/3. However, all reported on-demand and indistinguishable single-photon sources still fall short of this threshold. Here, by using tailor shaped laser pulse excitation on a high-quantum efficiency single quantum dot deterministically coupled to a tunable open microcavity, we demonstrate a high-performance source with a single-photon purity of 0.9795(6), photon indistinguishability of 0.986(16), and an overall system efficiency of 0.717(20), simultaneously. This source for the first time reaches the efficiency threshold for scalable photonic quantum computing. With this source, we further demonstrate 1.87(13) dB intensity squeezing, and consecutive 40-photon events with 1.67 mHz count rate.

The Cholinergic Pathways Hyperintensities Scale (CHIPS) is a visual rating scale used to assess the extent of cholinergic white matter hyperintensities in T2-FLAIR images, serving as an indicator of dementia severity. However, the manual selection of four specific slices for rating throughout the entire brain is a time-consuming process. Our goal was to develop a deep learning-based model capable of automatically identifying the four slices relevant to CHIPS. To achieve this, we trained a 4-class slice classification model (BSCA) using the ADNI T2-FLAIR dataset (N=150) with the assistance of ResNet. Subsequently, we tested the model's performance on a local dataset (N=30). The results demonstrated the efficacy of our model, with an accuracy of 99.82% and an F1-score of 99.83%. This achievement highlights the potential impact of BSCA as an automatic screening tool, streamlining the selection of four specific T2-FLAIR slices that encompass white matter landmarks along the cholinergic pathways.
