Abstract

The Super $\tau$-Charm facility (STCF) is an electron-positron collider proposed by the Chinese particle physics community. It is designed to operate in a center-of-mass energy range from 2 to 7 GeV with a peak luminosity of $0.5\times 10^{35}{\rm cm}^{-2}{\rm s}^{-1}$ or higher. The STCF will produce a data sample about a factor of 100 larger than that by the present $\tau$-Charm factory -- the BEPCII, providing a unique platform for exploring the asymmetry of matter-antimatter (charge-parity violation), in-depth studies of the internal structure of hadrons and the nature of non-perturbative strong interactions, as well as searching for exotic hadrons and physics beyond the Standard Model. The STCF project in China is under development with an extensive R\&D program. This document presents the physics opportunities at the STCF, describes conceptual designs of the STCF detector system, and discusses future plans for detector R\&D and physics case studies.

Abstract

A solid conducts heat through both transverse and longitudinal acoustic phonons, but a liquid employs only longitudinal vibrations. Here, we report that the crystalline solid AgCrSe2 has liquid-like thermal conduction. In this compound, Ag atoms exhibit a dynamic duality that they are exclusively involved in intense low-lying transverse acoustic phonons while they also undergo local fluctuations inherent in an order-to-disorder transition occurring at 450 K. As a consequence of this extreme disorder-phonon coupling, transverse acoustic phonons become damped as approaching the transition temperature, above which they are not defined anymore because their lifetime is shorter than the relaxation time of local fluctuations. Nevertheless, the damped longitudinal acoustic phonon survives for thermal transport. This microscopic insight might reshape the fundamental idea on thermal transport properties of matter and facilitates the optimization of thermoelectrics., Comment: four figures, supplemental information

Abstract

We present a field-theoretical method to obtain consistently the equations of motion for small amplitude condensate perturbations in a homogeneous Bose-condensed gas directly in real time. It is based on linear response, and combines the Schwinger-Keldysh formulation of nonequilibrium quantum field theory with the Nambu-Gorkov formalism of quasiparticle excitations in the condensed phase and the tadpole method in quantum field theory. This method leads to causal equations of motion that allow to study the nonequilibrium evolution as an initial value problem. It also allows to extract directly the Ward identities, which are a consequence of the underlying gauge symmetry and which in equilibrium lead to the Hugenholtz-Pines theorem. An explicit one-loop calculation of the equations of motion beyond the Hartree-Fock- Bogoliubov approximation reveals that the nonlocal, absorptive contributions to the self-energies corresponding to the Beliaev and Landau damping processes are necessary to fulfill the Ward identities \emph{in} or \emph{out} of equilibrium. Abstract

The Altarelli-Parisi-Lipatov equations for the parton distribution functions are rederived using the dynamical renormalization group approach to quantum kinetics. This method systematically treats the ln Q^2 corrections that arises in perturbation theory as a renormalization of the parton distribution function and unambiguously indicates that the strong coupling must be allowed to run with the scale in the evolution kernel. To leading logarithmic accuracy the evolution equation is Markovian and the logarithmic divergences in the perturbative expansion are identified with the secular divergences (terms that grow in time) that emerge in a perturbative treatment of the kinetic equations in nonequilibrium systems. Abstract

In earlier publications we have analyzed the strong and radiative decays of heavy hadrons in a formalism which incorporates both heavy-quark and chiral symmetries. In particular, we have derived a heavy-hadron chiral Lagrangian whose coupling constants are related by the heavy-quark flavor-spin symmetry arising from the QCD Lagrangian with infinitely massive quarks. In this paper, we re-examine the structure of the above chiral Lagrangian by including the effects of $1/m_Q$ corrections in the heavy quark effective theory. The relations among the coupling constants, originally derived in the heavy-quark limit, are modified by heavy quark symmetry breaking interactions in QCD. Abstract

We study in detail the prediction for the semileptonic decays $\bar{B} \to D (D^*) \pi \ell \bar{\nu}$ by heavy quark and chiral symmetry. The branching ratio for $\bar{B} \to D \pi \ell \bar{\nu}$ is quite significant, as big as $(0.5-1)\%$. The branching ratio for $\bar{B} \to D^* \pi \ell \bar{\nu}$ is only of order $10^{-4}-10^{-5}$. Numerical results for various single particle spectra and their dependence on the pion momentum cutoff schemes are presented in a series of figures, as are the model independent ratios for differential rates of $D$ and $D^*$. We also study the parity-violation effects on the decay rates for different polarization states of the $D^*$. Abstract

The radiative decays of heavy mesons and heavy baryons are studied in a formalism which incorporates both the heavy quark symmetry and the chiral symmetry. The chiral Lagrangians for the electromagnetic interactions of heavy hadrons consist of two pieces: one from gauging electromagnetically the strong-interaction chiral Lagrangian, and the other from the anomalous magnetic moment interactions of the heavy baryons and mesons. Due to the heavy quark spin symmetry, the latter contains only one independent coupling constant in the meson sector and two in the baryon sector. These coupling constants only depend on the light quarks and can be calculated in the nonrelativistic quark model. However, the charm quark is not heavy enough and the contribution from its magnetic moment must be included. Applications to the radiative decays $D^\ast \rightarrow D \gamma~,~B^\ast \rightarrow B \gamma~,~ \Xi^\prime_c \rightarrow \Xi_c \gamma~, \Sigma_c \rightarrow \Lambda_c \gamma$ and $\Sigma_c \rightarrow \Lambda_c \pi \gamma$ are given. Together with our previous results on the strong decay rates of $D^\ast \rightarrow D \pi$ and $\Sigma_c \rightarrow \Lambda_c \pi$, predictions are obtained for the total widths and branching ratios of $D^\ast$ and $\Sigma_c$. Abstract

Illegal plastic burning has caused several environmental and health impacts on society. It is important to locate the burning source quickly to mitigate the emission before people are exposed to the toxic gases. However, the conventional methods of source localization such as trained dogs, sensors, and infrared camera are limited and less efficient. This research paper was conducted to study the combination of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and machine learning method on the plastic burning location assessment. 8 sensors were placed in a 530 m radius around the residential area in Telok Panglima Garang city in the computational domain to detect the concentration of the toxic gases released (methane and benzene) from 12 different possible illegal burning locations. A total of 65 training data sets and 7 validation sets under different burning locations, wind speeds, and wind directions were obtained using CFD approach. According to the simulation, it was found that the sensor readings vary under different atmospheric conditions. Besides, the wind direction and wind speed will affect the direction of gas dispersion and mixing effect, which results in different sensor values. The data sets obtained from the generated simulation were used for the machine learning process in the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model to study the trend for each case. In this report, the ANN model includes 16 input, 4 hidden, and 12 output neurons. The model can achieve 85.71% validity with an average error of 3.86%.

Abstract

As the yaw angle of a machine-ruling grating will decline its wavefront quality and influence grating performance and application level, this paper proposes a correction method of single piezoelectric actuator according to the characteristics of the grating machine-ruling process. The method adjusts continuously the displacement of a micro-positioning table to correct the yaw angle error of grating line. Firstly, a real-time displacement correction formula for the micro-positioning table was deduced. Then, the yaw angle of micro-positioning table was measured and analyzed by three interferometers and its main component. Finally, amplification and correction experiments of the yaw angle of grating line were performed. The results show that experiments have basically achieved the expected results. Comparing to the result before yaw angle correction, the corrected yaw angle of grating line for a grating with a width of 10.4 mm and linear density of 600 line/mm has reduced by 64% or more. It concludes that the single piezoelectric actuator approach to the yaw angle correction of grating line effectively reduces yaw angle of grating line and improves the quality of the grating. This method is applicable to the yaw angle correction of machine-ruling grating with a large area.

Abstract

A grating diffractive spectral imaging model with ruling line bend and ruling line position errors was established based on the Fresnel-Kirchhoff diffraction theory, and the effect of these errors mentioned above on grating spectral properties was analyzed. For the instability of ruling carriage system, an optical measuring system was designed, and a mechanical improvement for the ruling carriage system was proposed.It was implemented by adopting a bilateral flexible hinge structure to replace the fixed linking method of original saddle slider pattern and ruling carriage system. Finally, The experiments on the stability test of ruling carriage system and the grating ruling test were performed. The experiment on the stability test of ruling carriage system shows that running stability of the improved score tool holder system is improved significantly as compared to that before improvement, and the displacement curve repeatability error (PV value) has reduced from 127 nm to 13 nm, decreased about 89%. Moreover, the grating ruling experiment shows that the grating spectrum performance after improving ruling carriage system has improved greatly, and the stray light has been effectively suppressed. These results obtained are in agreement with that of simulation, and provides theory and technological bases for improving grating ruling quality.

Abstract

Aegilops tauschii Coss. (2n=2x=14, DD) is a problematic weed and has contributed in the D genome of common wheat. The genetic diversity among 40 Chinese populations were evaluated by microsatellites marker and morphysiological traits. Dry weight biomass showed variation while in the case of plant height high variation was found between populations. We determined 27 alleles by using eight primers with an average of 3.37 allele per locus. The maximum polymorphism information content (PIC) was 0.63 with an average of 0.20 and maximum allele frequency was 1.00 with an average of 0.88. Cluster analysis divided Aegilops tauschii into different groups, which showed obvious genetic difference between these populations. 36. Temperature decline is a trigger of subarachnoid hemorrhage: case-crossover study with distributed lag model.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: The aim was to use a novel statistical test to predict the trend of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) incidence in response to temperature change and demonstrate its delayed effect in a short hazard period. PATIENTS AND METHODS: In a retrospective study, data collected between January 2005 and September 2019 were analyzed and 1682 consecutive SAH patients from one hospital were enrolled. Meteorological data in this period including temperature, atmospheric pressure, and humidity were obtained from the China Surface Meteorological Station. Using a case-crossover analysis and distributed lag linear model (DLM) with 4 days lag period to assess the association of temperature change from the previous day (TCP) and risk of SAH. Results were presented as overall cumulative odds ratios (ORs) and 95% CI. RESULTS: Temperature decline was associated with increased risks of SAH: overall cumulative OR was 1.14 (95% CI: 1.05-1.23) for -1.1°C; 2.11 (95% CI: 1.37-3.25) for -6.2°C, as compared with a reference TCP of 0°C. Temperature decline on the day of SAH onset was significantly associated with SAH incidence days, ORs 1.34 (95% CI: 1.19- 1.52). In addition, December, ORs 1.49 (95% CI: 1.17-1.90) in winter was the ictus peak in Rizhao throughout the year. CONCLUSIONS: Temperature decline from the previous day is a trigger for the occurrence of SAH. Its effect was most apparent on the day of exposure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) consisting of ferromagnet-insulator-ferromagnet sandwiches have attracted significant interest, and the structure of the interfaces in MTJs plays a crucial role in their performance. The interface structure, and magnetic and electronic properties of a Co2FeAl0.5Si0.5/MgO/Co2FeAl0.5Si0.5 MTJ are studied by first-principles calculations. It is found that three interface structures, the Co-, Fe-, and Al-terminated interfaces, are thermally stable. Local density of states calculations show that interface states form at the Fermi level for the Co- and Fe-terminated interfaces, and their half-metallic properties are destroyed. For the Al-terminated interface, half-metallic behavior remains at the interface, and there are no interface states at the Fermi level. This should heavily suppress the spin-flipping and tunneling caused by interface states located at the Fermi level of a Co2FeAl0.5Si0.5/MgO interface, allowing the transport properties of Co2FeAl0.5Si0.5/MgO/Co2FeAl0.5Si0.5 MTJs to be improved. 48. Impact Fracture of Polymer-Filled Braided Composite Tubes

Abstract

ABSTRACTThree types of polymer including polyurethane, polyethylene, and polysulfone were used as filler inside composite tubes to evaluate their effects on the crashworthiness. The composite tube consisting of carbon fiber fabric and polyurethane was fabricated by resin transfer molding and subjected to impact loading. In addition, the finite element analysis with progressive failure and delamination was used to simulate the crushing behavior of the polymer-filled composite tube. From the comparison between experiment and simulation, the finite element analysis is reliable, could reasonably describe the crushing behavior of the polymer-filled tube, and has nice prediction on the crashworthiness performance. From both the experiment and simulation results, the polyethylene-filled composite tube has clearly higher specific absorbed energy than the hollow composite tube, and polyethylene could be considered as an effective filler. However, the other two types of polymer filler have no clear effect.

49. MiR-9-5p suppresses cell metastasis and epithelial-mesenchymal transition through targeting FOXP2 and predicts prognosis of colorectal carcinoma.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Colorectal carcinoma (CRC) is a common malignant tumor of the digestive tract that occurs in the colon, and the incidence is the third in the gastrointestinal tumor. Recently, the dysregulated expression of microRNA-9 (miR-9) has been identified in many human cancers. However, the special function of miR-9 in the progression of colorectal carcinoma (CRC) remains unknown. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Quantitative Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to detect the expression of miR-9-5p in 72 pairs of CRC tissues and cell lines. The correlation between miR-9-5p expression and clinical features or prognosis of CRC patients was analyzed. In addition, we examined the mRNA and protein expression levels of forkhead box P2 (FOXP2) using Western blot analysis and qRT-PCR. The functions of miR-9-5p and FOXP2 were investigated using transwell assay and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). The relation between miR-9-5p and FOXP2 was confirmed by the dual-luciferase assay. RESULTS: In this study, down-regulation of miR-9-5p and up-regulation of the forkhead box P2 (FOXP2) were detected in CRC tissues and cell lines. Moreover, miR-9-5p was found to inhibit cell metastasis and EMT in CRC. In addition, it was confirmed that miR-9-5p directly targeted FOXP2 in CRC. Furthermore, FOXP2 had a carcinogenic effect on CRC. And the overexpression of FOXP2 weakened the suppressive effect of miR-9-5p in CRC. Of note, we observed found that the low expression of miR-9-5p and the high expression of FOXP2 were correlated with poor prognosis of CRC patients. CONCLUSIONS: MiR-9-5p suppressed cell metastasis and EMT through targeting FOXP2. Furthermore, dysregulation of miR-9-5p predicted the prognosis of CRC patients. Therefore, miR-9-5p may be a biomarker for cell metastasis and a prognostic factor for CRC patients. MiR-9-5p/FOXP2 axis will provide a new breakthrough in the diagnosis and treatment of CRC.
