Search

The $CP$ violation (CPV) in the baryon system has not yet been definitively established. We demonstrate that individual partial-wave CPV in the $\Lambda_b\to p\pi^-,pK^-$ decays can exceed $10\%$, but the destruction between different partial waves results in small net direct CPV as observed in current experiments. There is thus high possibility of identifying CPV in $b$-baryon decays through measurements of partial-wave CPV. The above observation is supported by the first full QCD calculation of two-body hadronic $\Lambda_b$ baryon decays with controllable uncertainties in the perturbative QCD formalism., Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures,4 tables

The dynamical studies on the non-leptonic weak decays of charmed baryons are always challenging, due to the large non-perturbative contributions at the charm scale. In this work, we develop the final-state rescattering mechanism to study the two-body non-leptonic decays of charmed baryons. The final-state interaction is a physical picture of long-distance effects. Instead of using the Cutkosky rule to calculate the hadronic triangle diagrams which can only provide the imaginary part of decay amplitudes, we point out that the loop integral is more appropriate, as both the real parts and the imaginary parts of amplitudes can be calculated completely. In this way, it can be obtained for the non-trivial strong phases which are essential to calculate CP violations. With the physical picture of long-distance effects and the reasonable method of calculations, it is amazingly achieved that all the nine existing experimental data of branching fractions for the $\Lambda_c^+$ decays into an octet light baryon and a vector meson can be explained by only one parameter of the model. Besides, the decay asymmetries and CP violations are not sensitive to the model parameter, since the dependence on the parameter is mainly cancelled in the ratios, so that the theoretical uncertainties on these observables are lowered down., Comment: 32 pages,10 figures, 5 tables

There is a long-standing puzzle that the CP violation (CPV) in the baryon systems has never been well established in experiments, while the CPV of mesons have been observed by decades. In this paper, we propose that the CPV of baryon decays can be generated with the rescatterings of a nucleon and a pion into some final states, i.e. $N\pi\to N\pi$ or $N\pi\pi$. Benefited by the fruitful data of $N\pi$ scatterings, we can model-independently analyse the strong phases of $b$-baryon decays using the partial wave amplitudes of $N\pi$ scatterings. Avoiding the most difficult problem of non-perturbative dynamics, it makes a great advantage to predict the CPV of baryon decays with a relatively reliable understanding of the decay dynamics. We study the processes of $\Lambda_b^0\to (p\pi^+\pi^-)h^-$ and $(p\pi^0)h^-$ with $h=\pi$ or $K$. It is found that the global CPV of the above processes in the invariant mass regions of $N\pi$ scatterings are at the order of several percent. More importantly, the local CPV in some regions of the Dalitz plots can reach the order of $10\%$, or be even larger. Considering the predicted results and the experimental data samples, we strong suggest to measure the CPV of $\Lambda_b^0\to (p\pi^+\pi^-)K^-$, which has a large possibility to achieve the first observation of CPV in the baryon system., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, 1 table. The similar densities of dark matter and baryons in the universe imply that they might arise from the same ultraviolet model. The B-Mesogenesis, which assumes dark matter is charged under the baryon number, attempts to simultaneously explain the origin of baryon asymmetry and dark matter in the universe. In particular, the B-Mesogenesis might induce bottom-baryon decays into invisible or semi-invisible final states, which provide a distinctive signal for probing this scenario. In this work, we systematically study the invisible decays of bottom baryons into dark matters, and semi-invisible decays of bottom baryons into a meson or a photon together with a dark matter particle. In particular, the fully invisible decay can explore the stable particles in B-Mesogenesis. Some QCD-based frameworks are used to calculate the hadronic matrix elements under the B-Mesogenesis model. We estimate the constraints on the Wilson coefficients or the product of some new physics couplings with the Wilson coefficients by the semi-invisible and invisible decays of bottom baryons at future colliders., Comment: 25 pages, 7 figures

The doubly charmed baryon $\Xi_{cc}^{++}$ has been observed by LHCb through the non-leptonic decay modes of $\Xi_{cc}^{++}\to\Lambda_{c}^{+}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}$ and $\Xi_{c}^{+}\pi^{+}$ in 2017. After that, the experimentalists turn their attention to finding other doubly charmed baryons $\Xi_{cc}^{+}$ and $\Omega_{cc}^{+}$. In this work, we investigate the nonleptonic weak decays of doubly charmed baryons ${\cal B}_{cc}\to{\cal B}_{c}P$, where ${\cal B}_{cc}$ denotes the doubly charmed baryons $(\Xi_{cc}^{++},\Xi_{cc}^{+},\Omega_{cc}^{+})$, ${\cal B}_{c}$ represents the singly charmed baryons $({\cal B}_{\bar{3}},{\cal B}_{6})$ and $P$ is the light pseudoscalar. For these non-leptonic decay modes, their short-distance contributions can be accurately estimated in theoretical calculations. However, dealing with the long-distance contributions for final-state-interaction effects is challenging. To address this, we use the rescattering mechanism to calculate the long-distance contributions and first derive the whole hadronic loop contributions for these two-body nonleptonic decays of doubly charmed baryons. Then the decay widths and branching ratios of the 45 nonleptonic decays of doubly charmed baryon are predicted. Among that, the ratio of the branching ratios ${\cal RB}=\frac{{\cal B}(\Xi_{cc}^{++}\to\Xi_{c}^{\prime+}\pi^{+})}{{\cal B}(\Xi_{cc}^{++}\to\Xi_{c}^{+}\pi^{+})}=1.15\pm0.45$ is consistent with the experimental results within statistical errors., Comment: 22 pages, 4 figures

The electric dipole moment (EDM) of elementary particles, arising from flavor-diagonal $CP$ violation, serves as a powerful probe for new physics beyond the Standard Model and holds the potential to provide novel insights in unraveling the puzzle of the matter-dominated Universe. Hyperon EDM is a largely unexplored territory. In this paper, we present a comprehensive angular analysis that focuses on entangled hyperon-antihyperon pairs in $J/\psi$ decays for the indirect extraction of hyperon EDM. The statistical sensitivities are investigated for BESIII and the proposed Super Tau-Charm Facility (STCF). Leveraging the statistics from the BESIII experiment, the estimated sensitivity for $\Lambda$ EDM can reach an impressive level of $10^{-19}$ $e$ cm, achieving a 3-orders-of-magnitude improvement over the only existing measurement in a fixed-target experiment at Fermilab with similar statistics. The estimated sensitivities for the $\Sigma^+$, $\Xi^-$, and $\Xi^0$ hyperons at the same level of $10^{-19}$ $e$ cm will mark the first-ever achievement and the latter two will be the first exploration of hyperons with two strange valence quarks. The EDM measurements for hyperons conducted at the BESIII experiment will be a significant milestone and serve as a litmus test for new physics such as supersymmetry and the left-right symmetrical model. Furthermore, at the STCF experiment, the sensitivity of hyperon EDM measurements can be further enhanced by 2 orders of magnitude. Additionally, this angular analysis enables the determination of $CP$ violation in hyperon decays, the effective weak mixing angle, and beam polarization.

Discoveries of tetraquarks not only enrich the hadronic spectrum but also provide more platforms to understand quantum chromodynamics. We study the production processes of hidden-charm and open-charm tetraquarks in $B$ decays by analyzing their topological amplitudes. Relations between different channels are found, which confront tests by experiments to probe the nature of the tetraquarks. We propose a novel theoretical framework to calculate the non-perturbative QCD quantities. It starts from the dispersion relation of quantum field theory, separating the high-energy and low-energy scales and using the known perturbative theories to solve the unknown non-perturbative quantities by the inverse problem. We prove that the inverse problem of dispersion relation is ill-posed, with unique but unstable solutions. The regularization methods must be used to get the stable approximate solutions. The method is based on the strict mathematics, without any artificial assumptions. We have test some toy models to vividly show the main features of the inverse problem. In this letter, we propose a novel approach to concurrently measure the complementary $CP$ violation observables induced by $T$-odd correlations and their corresponding $T$-even counterparts, where $T$ represents time reversal. Our analysis demonstrates that $T$-odd and -even correlations, when satisfying specific conditions, result in cosine and sine strong phase dependencies of the corresponding $CP$ violation, respectively. Additionally, we identify pairs of these $CP$ violation observables in hadron decays depend on precisely the same strong phases within the helicity amplitude scheme. This complementarity effectively reduces the strong phase reliance in the study of $CP$ violation, while also mitigating the risk of suppressed $CP$ violation due to exceptionally small strong phases. CP violation (CPV) in the baryon sectors has not yet been established experimentally. In this work, we propose to search for the hyperon CPV through the Cabibbo-favored charm-baryon decaying processes involving a hyperon in the final states, such as $\Lambda_c^+\to \Lambda^0\pi^+, \Lambda^0\to p\pi^-$. The CPV of the hyperon decays are purely revealed in these chain processes, since the CPV in the Cabibbo-favored charm decays are vanishing in the Standard Model (SM). The hyperons are polarized in the weak charm decays, so that we can measure the Lee-Yang asymmetric parameter $\alpha$ by the angular distributions, and then can measure the $\alpha$-induced CPV. Inspired by the very recently discovered tetraquark states $T_{c\bar s 0}^a(2900)^{0,++}$ from the LHCb Collaboration, we predict the existence of a new charmed-strange pentaquark system, $c\bar s nnn$, which is closely connected to $c\bar s n\bar n$ by exchanging $\bar n$ into $nn$ with $n=u,d$. Especially, it is suggested to experimentally search for the predicted new pentaquark system via the weak decays of $B$ mesons or $b$-baryons, with the support from the study of the mass spectrum and the decay properties. The predicted new pentaquark system must attract extensive attention from experimentalists and theorists when it constructs the ``particle zoo 2.0" in the near future., Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures and 2 tables

In this work we calculate the transition form factors of $\Lambda_b$ decaying into proton and $N^*(1535)$ ($J^P={1/2}^+$ and ${1/2}^-$ respectively), within the framework of light-cone sum rules with the distribution amplitudes (DAs) of $\Lambda_b$-baryon. In the hadronic representation of the correlation function, we have isolated both the proton and the $N^*(1535)$ states so that the $\Lambda_b \rightarrow p, N^*(1535)$ form factors can be evaluated simultaneously. Due to the less known properties of baryons, we investigate three interpolating currents of the light baryons and five parametrization models for DAs of $\Lambda_b $. Numerically, our predictions on the $\Lambda_b \rightarrow p$ form factors and the branching fractions of $\Lambda_b\to p\ell \nu$ from the Ioffe or the tensor currents are consistent with the Lattice simulation and the results from the light-baryon sum rules, as well as the experimental data of $Br(\Lambda_b^0\to p\mu^-\bar\nu)$. The predictions on the form factors of $\Lambda_b \rightarrow N^*(1535)$ are very sensitive to the choice of the interpolating currents so that the relevant measurement could be helpful to clarify the properties of baryons., Comment: 29 pages, 3figures

The decay width of the $D_s^{\ast}$ meson is dominated by the electromagnetic mode $D_s^\ast \to D_s \gamma$, and it is thus the longest-lived charged vector meson. In light of this point, we perform the first QCD LCSRs calculation of $D_s^{\ast}\to \phi$ helicity form factors and discuss the experiment potential of discovering exclusive $D_s^{\ast}$ weak decays. The main result is the partial decay widths, which read as $\Gamma_{D_s^\ast \to l \nu} = 2.44 \times 10^{-12} \, {\rm GeV}$, $\Gamma_{D_s^\ast \to \phi l \nu} = (3.28^{+0.82}_{-0.71}) \times 10^{-14} \, {\rm GeV}$, $\Gamma_{D_s^{\ast} \to \phi \pi} = ( 3.81^{+1.52}_{-1.33} ) \times 10^{-14} \, {\rm GeV}$ and $\Gamma_{D_s^{\ast}\to \phi \rho} = ( 1.16^{+0.42}_{-0.39} ) \times 10^{-13} \, {\rm GeV}$. We reanalyze the $\Lambda_b\to p$ transition form factors in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach by including higher-twist light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs) of a $\Lambda_b$ baryon and a proton. The previous PQCD evaluation performed decades ago with only the leading-twist $\Lambda_b$ baryon and proton LCDAs gave the form factors, which are two orders of magnitude smaller than indicated by experimental data. We find that the twist-4 $\Lambda_b$ baryon LCDAs and the twist-4 and -5 proton LCDAs contribute dominantly, and the enhanced form factors become consistent with those from lattice QCD and other nonperturbative methods. The estimated branching ratios of the semileptonic decays $\Lambda_b\to p\ell\bar{\nu}_\ell$ and the hadronic decay $\Lambda_b\to p\pi$ are also close to the data. It implies that the $b$ quark mass is not really heavy enough, and higher-power contributions play a crucial role, similar to the observation made in analyses of $B$ meson transition form factors. We suggest to study the production mechanism and some details of the production properties to probe the structure of the DDpi resonance T_cc^+ recently observed by the LHCb Collaboration. If the resonance is produced as a four-quark state, one can find the corresponding finger prints via measurements on some production properties that are the same as those of Xi_cc. The reason is that a special colour connection on the interface between the perturbative and non perturbative QCD is required for these doubly-charm hadron production. On the other hand, if T_cc^+ is produced as a hadron molecule, the measurement on the momentum correlation of DD^* can be a smoking gun to make the judgement. With a distinctive internal structure from all established hadrons, the beauty-charmed baryons $\Xi_{bc}$ can provide us with new points of view to decipher the strong interaction. In this work, we point out that the inclusive $\Xi_{bc} \to \Xi_{cc}^{++}+X$ decay is a golden channel for the experimental discovery of $\Xi_{bc}$ at the LHC. A unique feature of this process is that the $\Xi_{cc}^{++}$ is displaced, which greatly reduces the combinatorial background. A feasibility analysis is performed on the $\Xi_{bc}^+$ search, which is expected to have a longer lifetime than $\Xi_{bc}^0$ and thus a better displacement resolution. The $\Xi_{bc}^+ \to \Xi_{cc}^{++}+X$ branching ratio is calculated within the heavy diquark effective theory. Combining the $\Xi_{bc}$ production rate and the $\Xi_{cc}^{++}$ detection efficiency, we anticipate that hundreds of signal events will be collected during LHCb Run 3., Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures

The semileptonic decays of $\Lambda_{b}\to\Lambda_{c}^{(*)}\ell\nu_\ell$ and $\Lambda_{c}\to\Lambda^{(*)}\ell\nu_\ell$ are studied in the light-front quark model in this work. Instead of the quark-diquark approximation, we use the three-body wave functions obtained by baryon spectroscopy. The ground states $(1/2^{+})$, the $\lambda$-mode orbital excited states $(1/2^{-})$, and the first radial excited states $(1/2^{+})$ of $\Lambda_{(c)}^{(*)}$ are considered. The discussions are given for the form factors, partial widths, branching fractions, leptonic forward-backward asymmetries, hadron polarizations, lepton polarizations, and the lepton flavor universalities. Our results are useful for the inputs of heavy baryon decays and understanding the baryon structures, and helpful for experimental measurements., Comment: 17 pages, 9 tables and 6 figures

After the discovery of the double-charm baryon $\Xi_{cc}^{++}$ by LHCb, one of the most important topics is to search for the bottom-charm baryons which contain a $b$ quark, a $c$ quark and a light quark. In this work, we study the two-body non-leptonic weak decays of a bottom-charm baryon into a spin-$1/2$ bottomed baryon and a light pseudoscalar meson with the short-distance contributions calculated under the factorization hypothesis and the long-distance contributions considering the final-state-interaction effects. The branching fractions of all fifty-seven decay channels are estimated. The results indicate that $\Xi_{bc}^+\to\Xi_b^0\pi^+$, $\Xi_{bc}^{0}\to\Xi_{b}^{-}\pi^+$ and $\Omega_{bc}^0\to\Omega_b^-\pi^+$ decay modes have relatively large decay rates and thus could be used to experimentally search for the bottom-charm baryons. The doubly charmed baryon $\Xi_{cc}^{++}$ was recently observed by LHCb via the decay processes of $\Xi_{cc}^{++}\to \Lambda_c^+ K^-\pi^+\pi^+$ and $\Xi_c^+\pi^+$. These discovery channels were successfully predicted in the framework that the short-distance contributions are calculated under the factorization hypothesis and the long-distance contributions are estimated using the rescattering mechanism for the final-state-interaction effects. The exotic states $X_{0,1}(2900)$ with the quark flavor of $cs\bar{u}\bar{d}$ are recently observed in the mass spectrum of $D^+K^-$ in $B^-\to D^-D^+K^-$ by the LHCb collaboration. To explore the nature of $X_{0,1}(2900)$, except for analyzing their masses and decay widths as usually did in literatures, the study of their production mechanism in $B$-meson weak decays would provide another important information. The amplitude of $B^-\to D^- X_{0,1}$ is non-factorizable. We consider the final-state-interaction effects and calculate them via the rescattering mechanism. The measured branching fractions of $B^-\to D^- X_{0,1}$ are revealed. It is manifested by ${B}^-\to \Lambda_c^-\Xi_c^{(\prime)0}$ and $\Lambda_b^0\to P_c^+K^-$ that the rescattering mechanism can result in the relatively large branching fractions. The similar processes of $B^-\to \pi^-X_{0,1}$ are also analyzed. The isospins of $X_{0,1}$ can be investigated by $B\to DX_{0,1}^{\pm,0}$ decays., Comment: 12 pages, 10 figures. In this study, we investigate the discovery potential of double-charm tetraquarks $T^{\{cc\}}_{[\bar{q}\bar{q}']}$. We find that their production cross sections at the LHCb with $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV reach $\mathcal{O}(10^4)$ pb, which indicates that the LHCb has collected $\mathcal{O}(10^8)$ such particles. Through the decay channels of $T^{\{cc\}}_{[\bar{u}\bar{d}]}\to D^{+}K^{-}\pi^{+}$ or $D^0D^+\gamma$ (if stable) or $T^{\{cc\}}_{[\bar{u}\bar{d}]}\to D^0D^{*+}\to D^0D^0\pi^+$ (if unstable), it is highly expected that they get discovered at the LHCb in the near future. We also discuss the productions and decays of the double-charm tetraquarks at future Tera-$Z$ factories.

We propose a systematic theoretical framework for the topological amplitudes of the heavy meson decays and their $SU(N)$ decomposition. In the framework, the topological amplitudes are expressed in invariant tensors and classified into tree- and penguin-operator-induced diagrams according to which four-quark operators, tree or penguin, being inserted into their effective weak vertexes. By decomposing the four-quark operators into irreducible representations of $SU(N)$ group, one can derive the $SU(N)$ irreducible amplitudes from the tensor form of the topology. Taking the $D\to PP$ decay ($P$ denoting a pseudoscalar meson) with $SU(3)_F$ symmetry as an example, we show our framework in detail. The fact that some topologies are not independent in the $SU(3)_F$ limit is explained by group theory. It is found that there are only nine independent topologies in all tree- and penguin-operator-induced diagrams contributing to the $D\to PP$ decays in the Standard Model. If a large quark-loop diagram is assumed, the large $\Delta A_{CP}$ and the very different $D^0\to K^+K^-$ and $D^0\to \pi^+\pi^-$ branching fractions can be explained with a normal $U$-spin breaking. Moreover, our framework provides a simple and systematic way to analyze the $SU(N)$ breaking effects. As examples, the linear $SU(3)_F$ breaking and the high order $U$-spin breaking in charm decays are re-investigated in our framework, which are consistent with literature. We propose the concepts of splitting and degeneracy of topologies, and use them to describe the charm-less bottom decay. We find $SU(3)_F$ analysis for the charm-less $B$ decays is different from the $D$ decays because the charm-quark loop is beyond the $SU(3)$ symmetry and should be investigated in the symmetry breaking chain of $SU(4)\to SU(3)$., Comment: 62 pages, 3 figures, version published on JHEP

We calculate the parameters $x$ and $y$ for the $D$ meson mixing in the Standard Model by considering a dispersion relation between them. The dispersion relation for a fictitious charm quark of arbitrary mass squared $s$ is turned into an inverse problem, via which the mixing parameters at low $s$ are solved with the perturbative inputs $x(s)$ and $y(s)$ from large $s$. It is shown that nontrivial solutions for $x$ and $y$ exist, whose values around the physical charm scale agree with the data in both CP-conserving and CP-violating cases. We then predict the observables $|q/p|-1\approx 2\times 10^{-4}$ and $Arg(q/p)\approx 6\times 10^{-3}$ degrees associated with the coefficient ratio for the $D$ meson mixing, which can be confronted with more precise future measurements. Invited viewpoint on the role of decay in the search of the single-charge double-charm baryon by the LHCb Collaboration., Comment: 2 pages

In the recent years, fruitful results on charmed baryons are obtained by BESIII, Belle and LHCb. We investigate the two-body non-leptonic decays of charmed baryons in the flavor $SU(3)$ symmetry. Hundreds of amplitude relations are clearly provided, and are classified according to the $I$-, $U$- and $V$-spin symmetries. Among them, some amplitude relations are tested by the experimental data, or used to predict the branching fractions based on the exact flavor symmetry without any other approximation. Some relations of $K^0_S-K^0_L$ asymmetries and $CP$ asymmetries are obtained under the $U$-spin symmetry in the modes of charmed baryon decaying into neutral kaons. A sizable right-handed photon polarization in $b\to s\gamma$ is a clear signal for new physics. In this work we point out that the photon helicity in $b\to s\gamma$ can be unambiguously extracted by combining the measurements in $B\to K_1\gamma$ and the Cabibbo-favored $D\to K_1 e^+\nu$ decay. We propose a ratio of up-down asymmetries in $D\to K_1 e^+\nu$ to quantify the hadronic effects. { A method for measuring in experiment the involved partial decay widths in the ratio is discussed, and experimental facilities like BESIII, Belle-II and LHCb are likely to measure this ratio. Very recently, the LHCb Collaboration observed the $CP$ violation (CPV) in the charm sector for the first time, with $\Delta A_{CP}^{\rm dir}\equiv A_{CP}(D^0\to K^+K^-)-A_{CP}(D^0\to \pi^+\pi^-)=(-1.54\pm0.29)\times10^{-3}$. This result is consistent with our prediction of $\Delta A_{CP}^{\rm SM}=(-0.57\sim -1.87)\times 10^{-3}$ obtained in the factorization-assisted topological-amplitude (FAT) approach in [PRD86,036012(2012)]. It implies that the current understanding of the penguin dynamics in charm decays in the Standard Model is reasonable. Motivated by the success of the FAT approach, we further suggest to measure the $D^+\to K^+K^-\pi^+$ decay, which is the next potential mode to reveal the CPV of the same order as $10^{-3}$., Comment: 10 pages

The exotic state $X(5568)$ which was observed by D0 Collaboration is very likely to be a tetraquark state with four different valence quark flavors, though the existence was not confirmed by other collaborations. The possibility of such state still generate lots of interests in theory. In the paper, we will study the properties of the state under the SU(3) flavor symmetry. This four quark state with a heavy bottom quark and three light quarks(anti-quark) can form a $6$ or $\overline {15}$ representation. The weak decays can be dominant and should be discussed carefully while such state is stable against the strong interaction. Therefor we will study the multi-body semileptonic and nonleptonic weak decays systematically. With the help of SU(3) flavor symmetry, we can give the Hamiltonian in the hadronic level, then obtain the parameterized irreducible amplitudes and the relations of different channels. At the end of the article, we collect some Cabibbo allowed two-body and three-body weak decay channels which can be used to reconstruct $X_{b6}$ states at the branching fraction up to be $10^{-5}$., Comment: 53 pages, 2 figures

We analyze the capacity of future $Z$-factories to search for heavy neutrinos with their mass from 10 to 85 GeV. The heavy neutrinos $N$ are considered to be produced via the process $e^+e^-\to Z\to \nu N$ and to decay into an electron or muon and two jets. By means of Monte Carlo simulation of such signal events and the Standard Model background events, we obtain the upper bounds on the cross sections $\sigma(e^+e^-\to \nu N\to \nu\ell jj)$ given by the $Z$-factories with integrated luminosities of 0.1, 1 and 10 ab$^{-1}$ if no signal events are observed. Under the assumption of a minimal extension of the Standard Model in the neutrino sector, we also present the corresponding constraints on the mixing parameters of the heavy neutrinos with the Standard Model leptons, and find they are improved by at least one order compared to current experimental constraints., Comment: 17 pages, 6 figures, more complete SM background is considered compared to v1

The time-dependent $CP$ asymmetry in $B^0 \to K_{\rm res} \gamma \to \pi^+ \pi^- K^0_{\scriptscriptstyle S} \gamma$ is sensitive to the photon polarisation in the quark level process $b \to s \gamma$. While this polarisation is predominantly left-handed in the standard model, it could be modified by the existence of new physics contributions that may possess different $CP$ properties. In this paper, we derive the $CP$ violation formulae for $B^0 \to K_{\rm res} \gamma \to \pi^+ \pi^- K^0_{\scriptscriptstyle S} \gamma$ including the most dominant intermediate states. We propose a new observable that could be measured in a time-dependent amplitude analysis of $B^0 \to \pi^+ \pi^- K^0_{\scriptscriptstyle S} \gamma$ decays, providing a stringent contraint on the photon polarisation. We study the ratio of fragmentation fractions, $f_{\Xi_b}/f_{\Lambda_b}$, from the measurement of $\Xi_b^0\to \Xi_c^+\pi^-$ and $\Lambda_b^0\to \Lambda_c^+\pi^-$ with $\Xi_{c}^{+}/\Lambda_{c}^{+}\to p K^-\pi^+$. With the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(\Xi_c^+\to pK^-\pi^+)=(2.2\pm0.8)\%$ obtained under the U-spin symmetry, the fragmentation ratio is determined as $f_{\Xi_b}/f_{\Lambda_b}$=$0.054\pm0.020$. To reduce the above uncertainties, we suggest to measure the branching fractions of $\Xi_c^+\to p \overline K^{*0}$ and $\Lambda_c^+\to \Sigma^+ K^{*0}$ at BESIII, Belle(II) and LHCb., Comment: 13 pages, 1 table, 1 figure. The nature of strange axial-vector mesons are not well understood and can be investigated in $D$ meson decays. In this work, it is found that the experimental data of $D^0\rightarrow K^\pm K^\mp_1(1270)(\to \rho K \,\,\text{or}\,\,K^{*}\pi)$ in the $D^0\to K^+K^-\pi^+\pi^-$ mode, disagree with the equality relation under the narrow width approximation and $CP$ conservation of strong decays. Considering more other results of $K_1(1270)$ decays, the data of $\mathcal{B}(D^0\rightarrow K^-K^+_1(1270)(\to K^{*0}\pi^+))$ is probably overestimated by one order of magnitude. We then calculate the branching fractions of the corresponding processes with $K_1(1400)$ in the factorization approach, and find $\mathcal{B}(D^0\rightarrow K^-K^+_1(1400)(\to K^{*0}\pi^+))$ is comparable to the predicted $\mathcal{B}(D^0\rightarrow K^-K^+_1(1270)(\to K^{*0}\pi^+))$ using the equality relation. Besides, we suggest to measure the ratios between $K_1(1270)\to \rho K$ and $K^*\pi$ or to test the equality relations in other $D$ meson decay modes., Comment: 18 pages, 7 tables. Published version

After the discovery of the Higgs boson, several future experiments have been proposed to study the Higgs boson properties, including two circular lepton colliders, the CEPC and the FCC-ee, and one linear lepton collider, the ILC. We evaluate the precision reach of these colliders in measuring the branching ratios of the charged lepton flavor violating Higgs decays $H\to e^\pm\mu^\mp$, $e^\pm\tau^\mp$ and $\mu^\pm\tau^\mp$. The expected upper bounds on the branching ratios given by the circular (linear) colliders are found to be $\mathcal{B}(H\to e^\pm\mu^\mp) < 1.2\ (2.1) \times 10^{-5}$, $\mathcal{B}(H\to e^\pm\tau^\mp) < 1.6\ (2.4) \times 10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(H\to \mu^\pm\tau^\mp) < 1.4\ (2.3) \times 10^{-4}$ at 95\% CL, which are improved by one to two orders compared to the current experimental bounds. We study the $K^0_S-K^0_L$ asymmetries and $CP$ violations in charm-baryon decays with neutral kaons in the final state. The $K^0_S-K^0_L$ asymmetry can be used to search for two-body doubly Cabibbo-suppressed amplitudes of charm-baryon decays, with the one in $\Lambda^+_c\to pK^0_{S,L}$ as a promising observable. Besides, it is studied for a new $CP$-violation effect in these processes, induced by the interference between the Cabibbo-favored and doubly Cabibbo-suppressed amplitudes with the neutral kaon mixing. Once the new CP-violation effect is determined by experiments, the direct $CP$ asymmetry in neutral kaon modes can then be extracted and used to search for new physics. We propose to search for the open heavy-flavor exotic states with the quark components of $Qs\bar u\bar d$ with $Q=b,c$ via their weak decays. If there exist such exotic states below the $BK$ or $DK$ thresholds, they can only decay weakly. The advantages include: (i) the experimental backgrounds from the secondary decay vertex are much lower due to the long lifetimes, (ii) the productions are large enough for only one heavy quark in such states, (iii) the thresholds of $BK$ or $DK$ are about 260 MeV higher compared to the $B_s\pi$ or $D_s\pi$ thresholds of the configurations of $Qu\bar s\bar d$ or $Qd\bar s\bar u$ , with a higher possibility to exist such weakly-decay particles, and (iv) if observed, their inner structures are easier understood since they can not be induced by the kinematic effects., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures

We find a new $CP$ violating effect in charmed hadron decays into neutral kaons, which is induced by the interference between the Cabibbo-favored and doubly Cabibbo-suppressed amplitudes with the $K^{0}-\overline K^{0}$ mixing. We find a new $CP$-violation effect in charm decays into neutral kaons, which results from the interference between two tree (Cabibbo-favored and doubly Cabibbo-suppressed) amplitudes with the mixing of final-state mesons. Very recently, the LHCb collaboration has observed in the final state $\Lambda_c^+ K^-\pi^+\pi^+$ a resonant structure that is identified as the doubly-charmed baryon $\Xi_{cc}^{++}$. Inspired by this observation, we investigate the weak decays of doubly heavy baryons $\Xi_{cc}^{++}$, $\Xi_{cc}^{+}$, $\Omega_{cc}^{+}$, $\Xi_{bc}^{(\prime)+}$, $\Xi_{bc}^{(\prime)0}$, $\Omega_{bc}^{(\prime)0}$, $\Xi_{bb}^{0}$, $\Xi_{bb}^{-}$ and $\Omega_{bb}^{-}$ and focus on the decays into spin $1/2$ baryons in this paper. At the quark level these decay processes are induced by the $c\to d/s$ or $b\to u/c$ transitions, and the two spectator quarks can be viewed as a scalar or axial vector diquark. We first derive the hadronic form factors for these transitions in the light-front approach and then apply them to predict the partial widths for the semi-leptonic and non-leptonic decays of doubly heavy baryons. We find that a number of decay channels are sizable and can be examined in future measurements at experimental facilities like LHC, Belle II and CEPC., Comment: 40 pages, 4 figures, to appear in EPJC

We calculate the $D^0$-$\overline{D}^0$ mixing parameter $y$ in the factorization-assisted topological-amplitude (FAT) approach, considering contributions from $D^{0}\to PP$, $PV$, and $VV$ modes, where $P$ ($V$) stands for a pseudoscalar (vector) meson. The $D^{0}\to PP$ and $PV$ decay amplitudes are extracted in the FAT approach, and the $D^{0}\to VV$ decay amplitudes with final states in the longitudinal polarization are estimated via the parameter set for $D^{0}\to PV$. It is found that the $VV$ contribution to $y$, being of order of $10^{-4}$, is negligible, and that the $PP$ and $PV$ contributions amount only up to $y_{PP+PV}=(0.21\pm0.07)\%$, a prediction more precise than those previously obtained in the literature, and much lower than the experimental data $y_{\rm exp}=(0.61\pm0.08)\%$. We conclude that $D^{0}$ meson decays into other two-body and multi-particle final states are relevant to the evaluation of $y$, so it is difficult to understand it fully in an exclusive approach., Comment: 13 pages

The SU(3) quark model encounters a great challenge in describing even-parity mesons. Specifically, the $q\bar q$ quark model has difficulties in understanding the light scalar mesons below 1 GeV, scalar and axial-vector charmed mesons and $1^+$ charmonium-like state $X(3872)$. A common wisdom for the resolution of these difficulties lies on the coupled channel effects which will distort the quark model calculations. In this work, we focus on the near mass degeneracy of scalar charmed mesons, $D_{s0}^*$ and $D_0^{*0}$, and its implications. Within the framework of heavy meson chiral perturbation theory, we show that near degeneracy can be qualitatively understood as a consequence of self-energy effects due to strong coupled channels. Quantitatively, the closeness of $D_{s0}^*$ and $D_0^{*0}$ masses can be implemented by adjusting two relevant strong couplings and the renormalization scale appearing in the loop diagram. Then this in turn implies the mass similarity of $B_{s0}^*$ and $B_0^{*0}$ mesons. The $P_0^* P'_1$ interaction with the Goldstone boson is crucial for understanding the phenomenon of near degeneracy. Based on heavy quark symmetry in conjunction with corrections from QCD and $1/m_Q$ effects, we obtain the masses of $B^*_{(s)0}$ and $B'_{(s)1}$ mesons, for example, $M_{B_{s0}^*}= (5715\pm1)\,{\rm MeV}+\delta\Delta_S$, $M_{B'_{s1}}=(5763\pm1)\,{\rm MeV}+\delta\Delta_S$ with $\delta\Delta_S$ being $1/m_Q$ corrections. We find that the predicted mass difference of 48 MeV between $B'_{s1}$ and $B_{s0}^*$ is larger than that of $20\sim 30$ MeV inferred from the relativistic quark models, whereas the difference of 15 MeV between the central values of $M_{B'_{s1}}$ and $M_{B'_1}$ is much smaller than the quark model expectation of $60-100$ MeV., Comment: 21 pages, 1 figure, to appear in Eur. The existence of doubly heavy flavor baryons has not been well established experimentally so far. In this Letter we systematically investigate the weak decays of the doubly charmed baryons, $\Xi_{cc}^{++}$ and $\Xi_{cc}^{+}$, which would be helpful for experimental searches for these particles. The branching fractions are studied under the factorization hypothesis for the short-distance contributions and considering the rescattering effect for the long-distance contributions which are significantly enhanced. Comparing all the decay modes, we recommend the processes of $\Xi_{cc}^{++}\to \Lambda_c^+K^-\pi^+\pi^+$ and $\Xi_c^+\pi^+$ as the first priority for experiments to search for the doubly heavy baryons., Comment: 16 pages, 3 figure, 5 tables. The $K_{S}^{0}-K_{L}^{0}$ asymmetries in the $D$ meson decays, induced by the interference between the Cabibbo-favored and the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed amplitudes, can help to understand the dynamics of charm decays. All possible processes of two-body non-leptonic $D$ decays into one neutral kaon and another pseudoscalar or vector meson are considered. We study the $K_{S}^{0}-K_{L}^{0}$ asymmetries and the branching fractions of corresponding processes in the factorization-assisted topological-amplitude approach in which significant flavor $SU(3)$ symmetry breaking effects are included. The branching fractions of $K_{L}^{0}$ modes are predicted. It is first found that the $K_{S}^{0}-K_{L}^{0}$ asymmetries in the $D^0$-meson decays are shifted by the $D^0-\overline D^0$ mixing parameter $y_{D}\simeq0.006$, to be $0.113\pm0.001$ for all the relevant $D^{0}$ decay modes. Our results on $K_{S}^{0}-K_{L}^{0}$ asymmetries are consistent with the current data and could be tested by experiments in the future., Comment: 19 pages, 1 figure. Doubly-heavy baryons, with two heavy and one light quarks, are expected to exist in QCD and their masses have been predicted in the quark model. However their existence is not well established so far in experiment. In this work, we explore the possibility of searching for $\Xi_{bc}$ and $\Xi_{cc}^{+}$ in the $W$-exchange processes, $\Xi_{bc}^{0}\to pK^{-}$ and $\Xi_{cc}^{+}\to \Sigma_{c}^{++}(2520)K^{-}$. On the basis of perturbative calculations, we estimate the branching ratio of the first decay as ${\cal BR}(\Xi_{bc}^0\to p^+ K^-)\approx3.21\times {\cal R}^2_f \times {\cal R}_{\tau}\times 10^{-7}$, where ${\cal R}_f$ (${\cal R}_{\tau}$) are the ratios of the decay constants (lifetimes) of $\Xi_{bc}^{0}$ and $\Lambda_b^{0}$. The branching ratio of $\Xi_{cc}^{+}\to \Sigma_{c}^{++}(2520)K^{-}$ is related to that of $\Lambda_c^+\to \Delta^{++} K^-$, and thereby a conjectured topology analysis leads to the range for the branching ratio as: ${\cal BR}(\Xi_{cc}^+\to \Sigma_{c}^{++}(2520) K^-)\in \left[0.36\%,1.80\%\right]$. The decay $\Xi_{cc}^+\to \Sigma_{c}^{++}(2520) K^-$ would be reconstructed in the $ \Lambda_{c}^{+}K^{-}\pi^{+}$ final state which is easy to access even at a hadron collider. Based on the two facts that abundant heavy quarks can be produced at a hadron collider like LHC, and the branching ratios of $\Xi_{bc}^{0}\to pK^{-}$ and $\Xi_{cc}^{+}\to \Sigma_{c}^{++}(2520)K^{-}$ are sizable, we urge our experimental colleagues to perform a search at LHCb.
