The interplay between substrates and superconducting thin films has attracted increasing attention. Here, we report an in-depth investigation on superconducting properties of the epitaxial TiN thin films grown on three different substrates by dc reactive magnetron sputtering. The TiN films grown on (0001) sapphire exhibit (111) crystal orientation, while that grown on (100) Si and MgO substrates exhibit (100) orientation. Moreover, the samples grown on Si reveal a relatively lower level of disorder, accompanied by the higher critical transition temperature $T_c$ and smaller magnitude of upper critical field slope near $T_c$. Remarkably, we uncovered a rather high value of superconducting gap (with $\Delta_0/k_BT_c$ = 3.05) in TiN film on Si indicating a very strong coupling superconductivity, in sharp contrast to the case using sapphires and MgO as the substrate which reveals a weak-coupling feature. We experimentally investigated the detection performance of highly disordered NbxTi1-xN based superconducting nanowire single photon detectors (SNSPDs). The dependence on the composition of the transition temperature Tc for NbxTi1-xN films show a dome-like behavior on the Nb content, with a maximal Tc at xNb~0.65 , and the Nb0.65Ti0.35N films also combine relatively large sheet resistance and intermediate residual resistivity ratio. Moreover, 60-nm-wide and 7-nm-thick Nb0.65Ti0.35N nanowires show a switching current as high as 14.5 uA, and saturated intrinsic detection efficiency with a plateau of more than 2 uA at 2.4 K. Finally, the corresponding SNSPDs on an alternative SiO2/Ta2O5 dielectric mirror showed a system detection efficiency of approximately 92% for 1550 nm photons, and the timing jitter is around 26 ps. We investigate the magnetic symmetry of the topological antiferromagnetic material Mn$_3$Ge by using torque measurements. Below the Neel temperature, detailed angle-dependent torque measurements were performed on Mn$_3$Ge single crystals in directions parallel and perpendicular to the Kagome basal plane. The out-of plane torque data exhibit $\pm\sin\theta$ and $\sin2\theta$ behaviors, of which the former results from the spontaneous ferromagnetism within the basal plane and the latter from the in- and out-of-plane susceptibility anisotropy. The reversible component of the in-plane torque exhibits $\sin6\varphi$ behavior, revealing the six-fold symmetry of the in-plane magnetic free energy. Moreover, we find that the free energy minima are pinned to the direction of spontaneous ferromagnetism, which correspond to the maxima of the irreversible component of the in-plane torque. We provide an effective spin model to describe the in-plane magnetic anisotropy. Our results demonstrate that the ground state of Mn$_3$Ge is described by the coexistence of a strong six-fold antichiral order and a weak ferromagnetic order induced by second-order spin anisotropy.

Recently V-based Kagome metal attracted intense attention due to the emergence of superconductivity in the low temperature. Here we report the fabrication and physical investigations of the high quality single-crystalline thin films of the Kagome metal KV$_3$Sb$_5$. For the sample with the thickness of about 15 nm, the temperature dependent resistance reveals a Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) type behavior, indicating the presence of two-dimensional superconductivity. Compared with the bulk sample, the onset transition temperature $T^{onset}_{c}$ and the out-of-plane upper critical field $H_{c2}$ are enhanced by 15\% and more than 10 times respectively. Moreover, the zero-resistance state is destroyed by a magnetic field as low as 50 Oe. Meanwhile, the temperature-independent resistance is observed in a wide field region, which is the hallmark of quantum metallic state. Two-dimensional (2D) superconductors supply important platforms for exploring new quantum physics and high-$T_c$ superconductivity. The intrinsic superconducting properties in the 2D iron-arsenic superconductors are still unknown owing to the difficulties in the preparation of ultrathin samples. Here we report the fabrication and physical investigations of the high quality single-crystalline ultrathin films of the iron-arsenic superconductor KCa$_2$Fe$_4$As$_4$F$_2$. For the sample with the thickness of 2.6$\sim$5 nm (1$\sim$2 unit cells), a sharp superconducting transition at around 30 K (onset point) is observed. Compare with the bulk material, the ultrathin sample reveals a relatively lower $T_c$, wider transition width, and broader flux liquid region under the in-plane field. Moreover, the angle dependent upper critical field follows the Tinkham model, demonstrating the two-dimensional superconductivity in ultrathin KCa$_2$Fe$_4$As$_4$F$_2$., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures
