This study aimed to determine the usefulness of experiential learning for psychomotor skills development of emergency medical services (EMS) students.Methods: An action research approach was used because it is useful for linking theory with action and practice. The Field Internship Student Data Acquisition Project (FISDAP) tool was used to assess and monitor students’ performance and competencies achievement in psychomotor skills. The study was conducted at Prince Sultan College for Emergency Medical Services (PSCEMS), King Saud University (KSU). Skills performance of 71 EMS students were analysed in the experiential learning implemented throughout the curriculum over 3 years.Results: The finding indicates that the students’ skills performance falls below the minimum requirement during the clinical practicum and significantly improves during the time of internship period. The overall success rate ranges between 26.58% and 35.74% across all the psychomotor skills, whereas during the internship year student’s success rate ranges between 85.49% and 99.4% across all the psychomotor skills.Conclusion: The findings of this study are promising and show that experiential learning is a useful and effective way to develop psychomotor skills and competencies in EMS students. Educators and policymakers can use the findings for strategizing policies for curriculum planning and development.Keywords: experiential learning, psychomotor skills, emergency medical services, EMS, EMS students

A new bi-triazole precursor, N-(1-azido-2-(azidomethyl)butan-2-yl)-4-methylbenzenesulfonamide, was synthesized in two steps from 2-amino-2-ethyl-1,3-propanediol, with an overall yield of 80%. The chemical structures of the products obtained were established based on 1D and 2D NMR, IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis.

The N-alkylation reaction of N-benzoyl 5-(aminomethyl)tetrazole (5-AMT) with benzyl bromide was carried out in the presence of K2CO3 as a base. Two separable regioisomers were obtained, thus their purification led to determine the proportion of each of them, and their structures were attributed essentially based on 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy in addition to the elemental analysis and MS data. In order to confirm the results obtained at the synthesis level, a computational study was carried out by application of density functional theory (DFT) using the Becke three-parameter hybrid exchange functional and the Lee-Yang-Parr correlation functional (B3LYP).

We have previously published on a new triazolic phosphonic α-amino ester in position 4 on the triazole ring of a naphthalene ester. The aim of the present paper was to describe its crystallographic study by XRD. The crystal structure of naphthalen-2-yl 1-(benzamido(diethoxyphosphoryl)methyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4-carboxylate was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. This compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c. The naphthalene system is almost planar and makes dihedral angles of 67.1(2)° and 63.9(2)° with the triazole ring and the phenyl cycle, respectively. The phosphorus atom is surrounded by three oxygen atoms and one carbon atom building a distorted tetrahedron. It is also noted, that one of the two ethyl groups is disordered. In the crystal, the molecules are connected through C-H…O and N-H…O hydrogen bonds to build dimers that are linked together by C-H…O hydrogen bonds, in addition to C-H…π interactions. The presence of an intramolecular hydrogen bond contributes to the stability of the molecular conformation by completing the S(5) cycle.

We have previously published new biheterocyclic phospohonic α-amino esters of the 1,2,3-triazole-benzimidazole and 1,2,3-triazole-carbazole type. The aim of the present paper was to describe a new phosponic aminoester bearing a triazole ring substituted in position 5 by an ester group. Thus, according to the same catalytic process used previously, the compound naphthalen-2-yl 1-(benzamido(diethoxyphosphoryl)methyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4-carboxylate was synthesized with an excellent yield and high regioselectivity via the copper (I)-catalyzed alkyne–azide cycloaddition reaction (CuAAC), using diethyl (α-azido(benzamido)methyl)phosphonate (1) as a dipole and 2- naphthyl propiolate as a dipolarophile (2). The structure of the new compound was fully characterized by 1D (31P, 1H-, 13C-) and 2D (1H-1H and 1H-, 13C-) NMR spectroscopy, IR, and HRMS.

The observation of the electroweak production of a W boson and a photon in association with two jets, using pp collision data at the Large Hadron Collider at a centre of mass energy of s=13 TeV, is reported. The data were recorded by the ATLAS experiment from 2015 to 2018 and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb-1. This process is sensitive to the quartic gauge boson couplings via the vector boson scattering mechanism and provides a stringent test of the electroweak sector of the Standard Model. Events are selected if they contain one electron or muon, missing transverse momentum, at least one photon, and two jets. Multivariate techniques are used to distinguish the electroweak Wγjj process from irreducible background processes. The observed significance of the electroweak Wγjj process is well above six standard deviations, compared to an expected significance of 6.3 standard deviations. Fiducial and differential cross sections are measured in a fiducial phase space close to the detector acceptance, which are in reasonable agreement with leading order Standard Model predictions from MadGraph5+Pythia8 and Sherpa. The results are used to constrain new physics effects in the context of an effective field theory.

A new compound tetramethyl 1,1′-(2-[{4,5-bis(methoxycarbonyl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl}methyl]-2-[(4-methylphenyl)sulfonamido]propane-1,3-diyl)bis(1H-1,2,3-triazole-4,5-dicarboxylate) (3) was prepared in two steps starting from 2-((4-methylphenyl)sulfonamido)-2-((tosyloxy)methyl)propane-1,3-diylbis(4-methylbenzenesulfonate) (1), with an overall yield of 74%. The key step being the copper-free Huisgen cycloaddition between N-(1,3-diazido-2-(azidomethyl)propan-2-yl)-4-methylbenzenesulfonamide (2) and commercially available dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate. The chemical structure of compound 3 was determined by IR, 1D and 2D NMR experiments, and elemental analysis.

The title compound, diethyl [(4-{(9H-carbazol-9-yl)methyl}-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)(benzamido)methyl]phosphonate, was synthesized with excellent yield and high regioselectivity through 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction between the α-azido diethyl amino methylphosphonate and the heterocyclic alkyne, 9-(prop-2-yn-1-yl)-9H-carbazole. The cyclization reaction by “click chemistry” was carried out in a water/ethanol solvent mixture (50/50), in the presence of copper sulfate pentahydrate and catalytic sodium ascorbate. The characterization of the structure of the resulting 1,4-regioisomer was performed by 1D and 2D-NMR experiments, infrared spectroscopy, and elemental analysis.

The title compound, 4,4-bis(hydroxymethyl)-2-phenyl-2-oxazoline 2, a well-known substance, was resynthesized in high yields through a conventional method. The structure of compound 2 was characterized for the first time by a single-crystal X-ray structure determination. The compound was further established through NMR spectroscopy (1D and 2D). In the molecular packing, two molecules of 4,4-bis(hydroxymethyl)-2-phenyl-2-oxazoline interact through H-Bonds to define “dimers” in which phenyl groups interact especially using π…π contact.

Despite being considered the 'new normal' for many workers since the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a dearth of applied research on hybrid working, especially in the context of inclusivity. This study uses the Behaviour Change Wheel to examine barriers, which hinder, and enablers, which help, to support hybrid working after the COVID-19 pandemic and then identifies intervention strategies for its improvement. Data included 36 open-ended questionnaires and 20 interviews from diverse (gender, sexual and ethnic identities; age; job role/grade scale; caregiving responsibilities and disability status) academic and professional staff at a large UK public research university, collected in May-July 2022. Barriers included the lack of technological skills, lack of clarity and application of the hybrid working policy, childcare and travel issues, no suitable space and equipment, managers' lack of understanding of specific needs, feeling lonely and isolated, and fears and uncertainty. Enablers included self-management skills, purposeful office days, positive feelings, work/life balance, productivity and support from others. Issues related to equity and inclusivity were highlighted based on disability status, caregiving responsibilities, age and job role. Strategies are offered to improve hybrid working, such as training, organisational infrastructure and practices and policies to enable a collaborative, cooperative and inclusive hybrid work environment.

The compound, 4-[(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl]-4-methyl-2-phenyl-4,5-dihydrooxazole 2 was prepared in high yield, through nucleophilic substitution reaction of the O-tosyl oxazoline derivative 1, by heating in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and in presence of KOH as base. The structure of the synthesized compound was established on the basis of NMR spectroscopy (1H, 13C), MS data and elemental analysis.
