Abstract

The experimentally predicted narrowing in the bandwidth of sodium is interpreted in terms of the non-local self-energy effect on quasi-particle energies of the electron liquid. The calculated self-energy correction is a monotonically increasing function of the wavenumber variable. The usual analysis of photo-emission experiments assumes the final state energies on the nearly-free-electron-like model and hence it incorrectly ascribes the non-local self-energy correction to the final state energies to the occupied state energies, thus leading to a seeming narrowing in the bandwidth., Comment: 9 pages

18. High aspect ratio SiO2/SiN (ON) stacked layer etching using C3HF5, C4H2F6, and C4H4F6

Abstract

High aspect ratio SiO2/SiN (ON) stacked layer etching using hydrofluorocarbon gases was conducted with various ratios of H, F, and C to achieve higher etching rates and precise profile control. The experimental gases were C3HF5, C4HF5, C4H2F4, C4H2F6, C4H4F6and C5H2F10. The oxygen gas flow rate and mixing ratio were optimized to maximize mask selectivity while avoiding clogging at the top of the mask. For comparison, C4F6/CH2F2/Ar/O2, and C4F6/C4F8/CH2F2/Ar/O2were used as reference gas mixtures. The initial screening narrowed the candidate pool to 3 gases: C3HF5, C4H2F6, and C4H4F6. At equivalent power, the C3HF5condition achieved a 15% faster ON etch rate, and C4H2F6achieved a 9% faster ON etch rate compared to the reference condition. Only C4H4F6showed a worse ON etch rate than the reference (∼33%) due to severe mask clogging. Furthermore, C3HF5achieved a 29% faster ON etch rate under high power conditions. It also achieved a 57% faster ON etch rate without excessively compromising selectivity or bow CD expansion after optimization. We report detailed comparisons of etch rate and clogging while controlling the CD profile in the ON stack process.

Abstract

The knowledge of forced flow heat transfer characteristics of liquid hydrogen (LH₂) is important and necessary for design and cooling analysis of high critical temperature superconducting devices. However, there are few test facilities available for LH₂forced flow cooling for superconductors. A test system to provide a LH₂forced flow (∼10 m/s) of a short period (less than 100 s) has been developed. The test system was composed of two LH₂tanks connected by a transfer line with a controllable valve, in which the forced flow rate and its period were limited by the storage capacity of tanks. In this paper, a liquid hydrogen recirculation system, which was designed and fabricated in order to study characteristics of superconducting cables in a stable forced flow of liquid hydrogen for longer period, was described. This LH₂loop system consists of a centrifugal pump with dynamic gas bearings, a heat exchanger which is immersed in a liquid hydrogen tank, and a buffer tank where a test section (superconducting wires or cables) is set. The buffer tank has LHe cooled superconducting magnet which can produce an external magnetic field (up to 7T) at the test section. A performance test was conducted. The maximum flow rate was 43.7 g/s. The lowest temperature was 22.5 K. It was confirmed that the liquid hydrogen can stably circulate for 7 hours.

Abstract

29th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition; 1053-1055, It is important to suppress the surface reflectance on the cell, in order to manufacture solar cell with high efficiency. We applied zirconium oxide as a texture material on the surface and investigate the optimal texture structure generating low surface reflectance using Diffract MOD simulator. The texture form was investigated pyramid, pillar, moth eye, and inversed moth eye. The texture height and width were varied from 10 nm to 500 nm. The most optimal structure was a pyramid with a height of 200 nm and a width of 10 nm. This texture structure was a weighted average reflectance of 4.7%. The surface reflectance was very sensitive to the variation of texture height. Pyramid texture structure with a width of 200 nm, while keeping a height fixed, was also near a weighted average reflectance of 4.9%. Moreover, that nanoimprinted-texture cell could significantly increase conversion efficiency.

Abstract

One of the many ways that climate change may affect human health is by altering the nutrient content of food crops. However, previous attempts to study the effects of increased atmospheric CO2 on crop nutrition have been limited by small sample sizes and/or artificial growing conditions. Here we present data from a meta-analysis of the nutritional contents of the edible portions of 41 cultivars of six major crop species grown using free-air CO2 enrichment (FACE) technology to expose crops to ambient and elevated CO2 concentrations in otherwise normal field cultivation conditions. This data, collected across three continents, represents over ten times more data on the nutrient content of crops grown in FACE experiments than was previously available. We expect it to be deeply useful to future studies, such as efforts to understand the impacts of elevated atmospheric CO2 on crop macro- and micronutrient concentrations, or attempts to alleviate harmful effects of these changes for the billions of people who depend on these crops for essential nutrients.
