Abstract

We have experimentally found related anomalies in electrical resistivity, dc and ac magnetic susceptibility, appearing deeply within ferromagnetically ordered state in SrRuO3. Lack of Jahn-Teller distortion in this regime rules out conventional orbital order, forcing one to describe these in terms of an orbital liquid ground state coexisting with ferromagnetic spin order. We suggest that weak spin-orbit coupling in such an unusual state underpins the observed anomalies., Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures submitted to PRL

Abstract

Ca_1-xSr_xRuO_3, which is ferromagnetic for Sr concentration x > 0.3, has been studied by x-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) in Ru 3p and O 1s core-level x-ray absorption. XMCD signals appear at x ~ 0.3 and monotonically increases with x in the ferromagnetic phase. While the monotonic increase of the XMCD signals with x is of a typical Stoner-type, the absence of appreciable change in the spectral line shapes of both the Ru 3p and O 1s XMCD spectra indicate that the itinerant-electron ferromagnetism in Ca_1-xSr_xRuO_3 is influenced by strong electron correlation., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, accepted in Phys. 28. Blending Acoustic and Language Model Predictions for Automatic Music Transcription

Abstract

In this paper, we introduce a method for converting an input probabilistic piano roll (the output of a typical multi-pitch detection model) into a binary piano roll. The task is an important step for many automatic music transcription systems with the goal of converting an audio recording into some symbolic format. Our model has two components: an LSTM-based music language model (MLM) which can be trained on any MIDI data, not just that aligned with audio; and a blending model used to combine the probabilities of the MLM with those of the input probabilistic piano roll given by an acoustic multi-pitch detection model, which must be trained on (a comparably small amount of) aligned data. We use scheduled sampling to make the MLM robust to noisy sequences during testing. We analyze the performance of our model on the MAPS dataset using two different timesteps (40ms and 16th-note), comparing it against a strong baseline hidden Markov model with a training method not used before for the task to our knowledge. We report a statistically significant improvement over HMM decoding in terms of notewise F-measure with both timesteps, with 16th note timesteps improving further compared to 40ms timesteps.

Abstract

Movable sensors and actuators are important and interesting subjects in distributed parameter systems. The present note concerns the feedback stabilization of linear diffusion systems with periodically scanning sensors. The control inputs to the system are given by the feedback of the Sakawa-type observer output. But in this case, since the output operator becomes time-periodic, the charateristic multiplier assignment is used to design the observer, and the bounded perturbation theorem of evolution operators is used to prove the closed-loop stability.

Abstract

Temperature dependence of charge-ordered crystal structures and domain structures in RFe2O4 (R: Y and Lu) was investigated by energy-filtered transmission electron microscopy, combined with conventional transmission electron microscopy. The presence of three-dimensional to two-dimensional charge ordering transition were observed in both YFe2O4 and LuFe2O4 on heating. Furthermore, real-space images obtained with the energy-filtered transmission electron microscopy revealed that YFe2O4 has less anisotropic nanometer-scale charge-ordered domains than LuFe2O4. These findings in RFe2O4 indicate the importance of the interchange interactions between Fe-O bilayers in addition to those within bilayers in the structural phase transitions associated with charge ordering in this system.
