Social problems stemming from the shortage of radiologists are intensifying, and artificial intelligence is being highlighted as a potential solution. Recently emerging large-scale generative AI has expanded from large language models (LLMs) to multi-modal models, showing potential to revolutionize the entire process of medical imaging. However, comprehensive reviews on their development status and future challenges are currently lacking. This scoping review systematically organizes existing literature on the clinical value of large-scale generative AI applications by following PCC guidelines. A systematic search was conducted across four databases: PubMed, EMbase, IEEE-Xplore, and Google Scholar, and 15 studies meeting the inclusion/exclusion criteria set by the researchers were reviewed. Most of these studies focused on improving the efficiency of report generation in specific parts of the interpretation process or on translating reports to aid patient understanding, with the latest studies extending to AI applications performing direct interpretations. All studies were quantitatively evaluated by clinicians, with most utilizing LLMs and only three employing multi-modal models. Both LLMs and multi-modal models showed excellent results in specific areas, but none yet outperformed radiologists in diagnostic performance. Most studies utilized GPT, with few using models specialized for the medical imaging domain. We introduce HyperCLOVA X, a family of large language models (LLMs) tailored to the Korean language and culture, along with competitive capabilities in English, math, and coding. HyperCLOVA X was trained on a balanced mix of Korean, English, and code data, followed by instruction-tuning with high-quality human-annotated datasets while abiding by strict safety guidelines reflecting our commitment to responsible AI. The model is evaluated across various benchmarks, including comprehensive reasoning, knowledge, commonsense, factuality, coding, math, chatting, instruction-following, and harmlessness, in both Korean and English. HyperCLOVA X exhibits strong reasoning capabilities in Korean backed by a deep understanding of the language and cultural nuances. Further analysis of the inherent bilingual nature and its extension to multilingualism highlights the model's cross-lingual proficiency and strong generalization ability to untargeted languages, including machine translation between several language pairs and cross-lingual inference tasks. We developed machine learning algorithms for distinguishing scintillation signals from a plastic-liquid coupled detector known as a phoswich. The challenge lies in discriminating signals from organic scintillators with similar shapes and short decay times. Using a single-readout phoswich detector, we successfully identified $\gamma$ radiation signals from two scintillating components. Our Boosted Decision Tree algorithm demonstrated a maximum discrimination power of 3.02 $\pm$ 0.85 standard deviation in the 950 keV region, providing an efficient solution for self-shielding and enhancing radiation detection capabilities., Comment: 11pages, 7 figures

Nonlinear quantum photonics serves as a cornerstone in photonic quantum technologies, such as universal quantum computing and quantum communications. The emergence of integrated photonics platform not only offers the advantage of large-scale manufacturing but also provides a variety of engineering methods. Given the complexity of integrated photonics engineering, a comprehensive simulation framework is essential to fully harness the potential of the platform. In this context, we introduce a nonlinear quantum photonics simulation framework which can accurately model a variety of features such as adiabatic waveguide, material anisotropy, linear optics components, photon losses, and detectors. Furthermore, utilizing the framework, we have developed a device scheme, chip-scale temporal walk-off compensation, that is useful for various quantum information processing tasks. Applying the simulation framework, we show that the proposed device scheme can enhance the squeezing parameter of photon-pair sources and the conversion efficiency of quantum frequency converters without relying on higher pump power., Comment: 35 pages, 33 figures, 4 tables

Anomaly detection is a critical and challenging task that aims to identify data points deviating from normal patterns and distributions within a dataset. Various methods have been proposed using a one-class-one-model approach, but these techniques often face practical problems such as memory inefficiency and the requirement of sufficient data for training. In particular, few-shot anomaly detection presents significant challenges in industrial applications, where limited samples are available before mass production. In this paper, we propose a few-shot anomaly detection method that integrates adversarial training loss to obtain more robust and generalized feature representations. We utilize the adversarial loss previously employed in domain adaptation to align feature distributions between source and target domains, to enhance feature robustness and generalization in few-shot anomaly detection tasks. We hypothesize that adversarial loss is effective when applied to features that should have similar characteristics, such as those from the same layer in a Siamese network's parallel branches or input-output pairs of reconstruction-based methods. Measurement-based quantum computing is a promising paradigm of quantum computation, where universal computing is achieved through a sequence of local measurements. The backbone of this approach is the preparation of multipartite entanglement, known as cluster states. While a cluster state with two-dimensional (2D) connectivity is required for universality, a three-dimensional (3D) cluster state is necessary for additionally achieving fault tolerance. However, the challenge of making 3D connectivity has limited cluster state generation up to 2D. Here we demonstrate deterministic generation of a 3D cluster state based on the photonic continuous-variable platform. To realize 3D connectivity, we harness a crucial advantage of time-frequency modes of ultrafast quantum light: an arbitrary complex mode basis can be accessed directly, enabling connectivity as desired. We demonstrate the versatility of our method by generating cluster states with 1D, 2D, and 3D connectivities. For their complete characterization, we develop a quantum state tomography method for multimode Gaussian states. Moreover, we verify the cluster state generation by nullifier measurements as well as full inseparability tests. Our work paves the way toward fault-tolerant and universal measurement-based quantum computing.

Since wearable linkage mechanisms could control the moment transmission from actuator(s) to wearers, they can help ensure that even low-cost wearable systems provide advanced functionality tailored to users' needs. For example, if a hip mechanism transforms an input torque into a spatially-varying moment, a wearer can get effective assistance both in the sagittal and frontal planes during walking, even with an affordable single-actuator system. However, due to the combinatorial nature of the linkage mechanism design space, the topologies of such nonlinear-moment-generating mechanisms are challenging to determine, even with significant computational resources and numerical data. Furthermore, on-premise production development and interactive design are nearly impossible in conventional synthesis approaches. Here, we propose an innovative autonomous computational approach for synthesizing such wearable robot mechanisms, eliminating the need for exhaustive searches or numerous data sets. Our method transforms the synthesis problem into a gradient-based optimization problem with sophisticated objective and constraint functions while ensuring the desired degree of freedom, range of motion, and force transmission characteristics. To generate arbitrary mechanism topologies and dimensions, we employed a unified ground model. By applying the proposed method for the design of hip joint mechanisms, the topologies and dimensions of non-series-type hip joint mechanisms were obtained. Biomechanical simulations validated its multi-moment assistance capability, and its wearability was verified via prototype fabrication.
