Driven by the vision of ubiquitous connectivity and wireless intelligence, the evolution of ultra-dense constellation-based satellite-integrated Internet is underway, now taking preliminary shape. Nevertheless, the entrenched institutional silos and limited, nonrenewable heterogeneous network resources leave current satellite systems struggling to accommodate the escalating demands of next-generation intelligent applications. In this context, the distributed satellite information networks (DSIN), exemplified by the cohesive clustered satellites system, have emerged as an innovative architecture, bridging information gaps across diverse satellite systems, such as communication, navigation, and remote sensing, and establishing a unified, open information network paradigm to support resilient space information services. This survey first provides a profound discussion about innovative network architectures of DSIN, encompassing distributed regenerative satellite network architecture, distributed satellite computing network architecture, and reconfigurable satellite formation flying, to enable flexible and scalable communication, computing and control. The DSIN faces challenges from network heterogeneity, unpredictable channel dynamics, sparse resources, and decentralized collaboration frameworks. To address these issues, a series of enabling technologies is identified, including channel modeling and estimation, cloud-native distributed MIMO cooperation, grant-free massive access, network routing, and the proper combination of all these diversity techniques. Furthermore, to heighten the overall resource efficiency, the cross-layer optimization techniques are further developed to meet upper-layer deterministic, adaptive and secure information services requirements. In addition, emerging research directions and new opportunities are highlighted on the way to achieving the DSIN vision.

A recent endeavor in one class of video anomaly detection is to leverage diffusion models and posit the task as a generation problem, where the diffusion model is trained to recover normal patterns exclusively, thus reporting abnormal patterns as outliers. Yet, existing attempts neglect the various formations of anomaly and predict normal samples at the feature level regardless that abnormal objects in surveillance videos are often relatively small. To address this, a novel patch-based diffusion model is proposed, specifically engineered to capture fine-grained local information. We further observe that anomalies in videos manifest themselves as deviations in both appearance and motion. Therefore, we argue that a comprehensive solution must consider both of these aspects simultaneously to achieve accurate frame prediction. To address this, we introduce innovative motion and appearance conditions that are seamlessly integrated into our patch diffusion model. These conditions are designed to guide the model in generating coherent and contextually appropriate predictions for both semantic content and motion relations. Using data from the LAMOST Medium-Resolution Spectroscopic Survey of Nebulae, we create a sample of 17,821 diffuse ionized gas (DIG) spectra in the anti-center region of the Milky Way, by excluding fibers in the directions of H II regions and supernova remnants. We then analyze the radial and vertical distributions of three line ratios ([N II]/H$\alpha$, [S II]/H$\alpha$, and [S II]/[N II]), as well as the oxygen abundance. [N II]/H$\alpha$ and [S II]/H$\alpha$ do not exhibit a consistent, monotonic decrease with increasing Galactocentric distance (R$_{gal}$). Instead, they show enhancement within the interarm region, positioned between the Local Arm and the Perseus Arm. [S II]/[N II] has a radial gradient of 0.1415 $\pm$ 0.0646 kpc$^{-1}$ for the inner disk (8.34 $ < R_{gal} < $ 9.65 kpc), and remains nearly flat for the outer disk ($R_{gal} > $ 9.65 kpc). In the vertical direction, [N II]/H$\alpha$, [S II]/H$\alpha$, and [S II]/[N II] increase with increasing Galactic disk height ($|z|$) in both southern and northern disks. Based on the N2S2H$\alpha$ method, which combines [S II]/[N II] and [N II]/H$\alpha$, we estimate the oxygen abundance. The oxygen abundance exhibits a consistent radial gradient with R$_{gal}$, featuring a slope of -0.0559 $\pm$ 0.0209 dex kpc$^{-1}$ for the inner disk and a similar slope of -0.0429 $\pm$ 0.0599 dex kpc$^{-1}$ for the outer disk. A single linear fitting to the entire disk yields a slope of -0.0317 $\pm$ 0.0124 dex kpc$^{-1}$. In the vertical direction, the oxygen abundance decreases with increasing $|z|$ in both southern and northern disks.

This paper proposes a distributed massive multiple input multiple-output (DM-MIMO) aided multi-tier vehicular edge computing (VEC) system. In particular, each vehicle terminal (VT) offloads its computational task to the roadside unit (RSU) by orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), which can be computed locally at the RSU and offloaded to the central processing unit (CPU) via massive satellite access points (SAPs) for remote computation. By considering the partial task offloading model, we consider the joint optimization of the task offloading, subchannel allocation and precoding optimization to minimize the total cost in terms of total delay and energy consumption. To solve this non-convex problem, we transform the original problem into three sub-problems and use the alternate optimization algorithm to solve it. First, we transform the subcarrier allocation problem of discrete variables into convex optimization problem of continuous variables. Then, we use multiple quadratic transformations and Lagrange multiplier method to transform the non-convex subproblem of optimizing precoding vectors into a convex problem, while the task offloading subproblem is a convex problem. Given the subcarrier and the task allocation and precoding result, we finally find the joint optimized results by iterative optimization algorithm. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm is superior to other benchmarks.

In this paper, we investigate the concentration behaviors of ground states to stationary Mean-field Games systems (MFGs) with the nonlocal coupling in $\mathbb R^n$, $n\geq 2.$ With the mass critical exponent imposed on Riesz potentials, we first discuss the existence of ground states to potential-free MFGs, which corresponds to the establishment of Gagliardo-Nirenberg type's inequality. Next, with the aid of the optimal inequality, we classify the existence of ground states to stationary MFGs with Hartree-type coupling in terms of the $L^1$-norm of population density defined by $M$. In addition, under certain types of coercive potentials, the asymptotics of ground states to ergodic MFGs with the nonlocal coupling are captured. Moreover, if the local polynomial expansions are imposed on potentials, we study the refined asymptotic behaviors of ground states and show that they concentrate on the flattest minima of potentials.

This paper presents a novel auto-encoder based end-to-end channel encoding and decoding. It integrates deep reinforcement learning (DRL) and graph neural networks (GNN) in code design by modeling the generation of code parity-check matrices as a Markov Decision Process (MDP), to optimize key coding performance metrics such as error-rates and code algebraic properties. An edge-weighted GNN (EW-GNN) decoder is proposed, which operates on the Tanner graph with an iterative message-passing structure. Once trained on a single linear block code, the EW-GNN decoder can be directly used to decode other linear block codes of different code lengths and code rates. An iterative joint training of the DRL-based code designer and the EW-GNN decoder is performed to optimize the end-end encoding and decoding process. Simulation results show the proposed auto-encoder significantly surpasses several traditional coding schemes at short block lengths, including low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes with the belief propagation (BP) decoding and the maximum-likelihood decoding (MLD), and BCH with BP decoding, offering superior error-correction capabilities while maintaining low decoding complexity., Comment: 13 pages; submitted to IEEE Trans. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2211.06962

Recently, Vision Language Models (VLMs) have experienced significant advancements, yet these models still face challenges in spatial hierarchical reasoning within indoor scenes. In this study, we introduce ROOT, a VLM-based system designed to enhance the analysis of indoor scenes. Specifically, we first develop an iterative object perception algorithm using GPT-4V to detect object entities within indoor scenes. This is followed by employing vision foundation models to acquire additional meta-information about the scene, such as bounding boxes. Building on this foundational data, we propose a specialized VLM, SceneVLM, which is capable of generating spatial hierarchical scene graphs and providing distance information for objects within indoor environments. This information enhances our understanding of the spatial arrangement of indoor scenes. To train our SceneVLM, we collect over 610,000 images from various public indoor datasets and implement a scene data generation pipeline with a semi-automated technique to establish relationships and estimate distances among indoor objects. By utilizing this enriched data, we conduct various training recipes and finish SceneVLM. Our experiments demonstrate that \rootname facilitates indoor scene understanding and proves effective in diverse downstream applications, such as 3D scene generation and embodied AI. The rapid development of generative AI technologies, including large language models (LLMs), has brought transformative changes to various fields. However, deploying such advanced models on mobile and edge devices remains challenging due to their high computational, memory, communication, and energy requirements. To address these challenges, we propose a model-centric framework for democratizing generative AI deployment on mobile and edge networks. First, we comprehensively review key compact model strategies, such as quantization, model pruning, and knowledge distillation, and present key performance metrics to optimize generative AI for mobile deployment. Next, we provide a focused review of mobile and edge networks, emphasizing the specific challenges and requirements of these environments. We further conduct a case study demonstrating the effectiveness of these strategies by deploying LLMs on real mobile edge devices. Experimental results highlight the practicality of democratized LLMs, with significant improvements in generalization accuracy, hallucination rate, accessibility, and resource consumption. This paper delves into a systematically reduced plant system proposed by Ja\"ibi et al. [Phys. D, 2020] in arid area. They used the method of geometric singular perturbation to study the existence of abundant orbits. Instead, we deliberate the stability and distributed patterns of this system. For a non-diffusive scenario for the model, we scrutinize the local and global stability of equilibria and derive conditions for the existence or non-existence of the limit cycle. The bifurcation behaviors are also explored. For the spatial model, we investigate Hopf, Turing, Hopf-Turing, Turing-Turing bifurcations. Specially, the evolution process from periodic solutions to spatially nonconstant steady states is observed near the Hopf-Turing bifurcation point. And mixed nonconstant steady states near the Turing-Turing bifurcation point are observed. Furthermore, it's found that there exist gap, spot, stripe and mixed patterns. The seed-dispersal rate enables the transformation of pattern structures. Reasonable control of system parameters may prevent desertification from occurring.

Wireless Human-Machine Collaboration (WHMC) represents a critical advancement for Industry 5.0, enabling seamless interaction between humans and machines across geographically distributed systems. As the WHMC systems become increasingly important for achieving complex collaborative control tasks, ensuring their stability is essential for practical deployment and long-term operation. Stability analysis certifies how the closed-loop system will behave under model randomness, which is essential for systems operating with wireless communications. However, the fundamental stability analysis of the WHMC systems remains an unexplored challenge due to the intricate interplay between the stochastic nature of wireless communications, dynamic human operations, and the inherent complexities of control system dynamics. This paper establishes a fundamental WHMC model incorporating dual wireless loops for machine and human control. Our framework accounts for practical factors such as short-packet transmissions, fading channels, and advanced HARQ schemes. We model human control lag as a Markov process, which is crucial for capturing the stochastic nature of human interactions. Building on this model, we propose a stochastic cycle-cost-based approach to derive a stability condition for the WHMC system, expressed in terms of wireless channel statistics, human dynamics, and control parameters. Our findings are validated through extensive numerical simulations and a proof-of-concept experiment, where we developed and tested a novel wireless collaborative cart-pole control system. We propose a lattice dynamical system that arises in a discrete diffusive two-group epidemic model with latency in a patchy environment. The model considers the SIS form and latency of the disease in group 1, while the SIR form without latency of the disease in group 2. The system includes double nonlocal effects, one effect is the nonlocal diffusion of individuals in isolated patches or niches, while the other effect is the distributed transmission delay representing the incubation of the disease. We demonstrate that there is a threshold value $c^*$ that can determine the persistence or disappearance of the disease. Wireless Networked Control Systems (WNCSs) are essential to Industry 4.0, enabling flexible control in applications, such as drone swarms and autonomous robots. The interdependence between communication and control requires integrated design, but traditional methods treat them separately, leading to inefficiencies. Current codesign approaches often rely on simplified models, focusing on single-loop or independent multi-loop systems. However, large-scale WNCSs face unique challenges, including coupled control loops, time-correlated wireless channels, trade-offs between sensing and control transmissions, and significant computational complexity. To address these challenges, we propose a practical WNCS model that captures correlated dynamics among multiple control loops with spatially distributed sensors and actuators sharing limited wireless resources over multi-state Markov block-fading channels. We formulate the codesign problem as a sequential decision-making task that jointly optimizes scheduling and control inputs across estimation, control, and communication domains. To solve this problem, we develop a Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) algorithm that efficiently handles the hybrid action space, captures communication-control correlations, and ensures robust training despite sparse cross-domain variables and floating control inputs. Vehicle-road collaboration is a promising approach for enhancing the safety and efficiency of autonomous driving by extending the intelligence of onboard systems to smart roadside infrastructures. The introduction of digital twins (DTs), particularly local DTs (LDTs) at the edge, in smart mobility presents a new embodiment of augmented intelligence, which could enhance information exchange and extract human driving expertise to improve onboard intelligence. This paper presents a novel LDT-assisted hybrid autonomous driving system for improving safety and efficiency in traffic intersections. By leveraging roadside units (RSUs) equipped with sensory and computing capabilities, the proposed system continuously monitors traffic, extracts human driving knowledge, and generates intersection-specific local driving agents through an offline reinforcement learning (RL) framework. When connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) pass through RSU-equipped intersections, RSUs can provide local agents to support safe and efficient driving in local areas. Meanwhile, they provide real-time cooperative perception (CP) to broaden onboard sensory horizons. The proposed LDT-assisted hybrid system is implemented with state-of-the-art products, e.g., CAVs and RSUs, and technologies, e.g., millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications. Hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) simulations and proof-of-concept (PoC) tests validate system performance from two standpoints: (i) The peak latency for CP and local agent downloading are 8.51 ms and 146 ms, respectively, aligning with 3GPP requirements for vehicle-to-everything (V2X) and model transfer use cases. Moreover, (ii) local driving agents can improve safety measures by 10% and reduce travel time by 15% compared with conventional onboard systems. Bimodal software analysis initially appeared to be within reach with the advent of large language models. Unfortunately, the complex interplay of natural language text and code in software engineering, presents unique challenges that prevent pretrained models to generalize to a variety of tasks. We postulate that in-context learning for the code-text bimodality is a promising avenue. This paper thus introduces a comprehensive study of in-context code-text learning, focusing on leveraging pretrained CodeLLAMA models. We consider a diverse dataset encompassing 23 software engineering tasks, which we transform in an in-context learning format. To effectively extract informative features, we propose a configurable prompt template. Our proposed pipeline, InCTRL, then unifies prompt learning across various software engineering tasks. Extensive evaluation on the study datasets demonstrates the superiority of INCTRL-models in few-shot performance, surpassing state-of-the-art models including the support model, CodeLLAMA. Typically, we observe that applied to the CodeLLAMA model, INCTRL brings improvements in terms of precision (at least about 12\%) and recall (up to 93.88\%) on various tasks. For example, on the task of program repair, INCTRL improves the BLEU score of CodeLLAMA by 85 points, while for clone detection, INCTRL achieves an improvement of 69 percentage points. Moreover, INCTRL-models offer state-of-the-art performance when using retrieval-augmented generation on individual downstream tasks. Finally, we qualitatively analyze the benefits of INCTRL over CodeLLAMA and open-source all models for broader impact. This paper introduces Hamster, a novel synchronous Byzantine Fault Tolerance protocol that achieves better performance and has weaker dependency on synchrony. Specifically, Hamster employs coding techniques to significantly decrease communication complexity and addresses coding related security issues. Consequently, Hamster achieves a throughput gain that increases linearly with the number of nodes, compared to Sync HotStuff. By adjusting the block size, Hamster outperforms Sync HotStuff in terms of both throughput and latency. Moreover, With minor modifications, Hamster can also function effectively in mobile sluggish environments, further reducing its dependency on strict synchrony. We implement Hamster and the experimental results demonstrate its performance advantages. Specifically, Hamster's throughput in a network of $9$ nodes is $2.5\times$ that of Sync HotStuff, and this gain increases to $10$ as the network scales to $65$ nodes.

This paper analyses the security performance of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communication system with integrated sensing and communications (ISAC). We consider a multiple-antenna UAV transmitting ISAC waveforms to simultaneously detect an untrusted target in the surrounding environment and communicate with a ground Internet-of-Things (IoT) device in the presence of an eavesdropper (Eve). Given that the Eve can conceal their channel state information (CSI) in practical scenarios, we assume that the CSI of the eavesdropper channel is imperfect. For this RIS-aided ISAC-UAV system, we aim to maximize the average communication secrecy rate by jointly optimizing UAV trajectory, RIS passive beamforming, transmit beamforming, and receive beamforming. However, this joint optimization problem is non-convex due to multi-variable coupling. As such, we solve the optimization using an efficient and tractable algorithm using a block coordinate descent (BCD) method. Specifically, we develop a successive convex approximation (SCA) algorithm based on semidefinite relaxation (SDR) to optimise the joint optimization as four separate non-convex subproblems. Numerical results show that our proposed algorithm can successfully ensure the accuracy of sensing targets and significantly improve the communication secrecy rate of the IoT communication devices.

In mobile systems with low-altitude vehicles, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is considered an effective approach to increase the transmission rate due to limited spectrum resources. To further improve the ISAC performance, this paper proposes a novel method called integrated sensing and communication-movable antenna (ISAC-MA) to optimize the antenna's position. Our goal is to support low-space vehicles by optimizing radar and communication joint beamforming and antenna position in the presence of clutter. This scheme not only guarantees the required signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for sensing but also further improves the SNR for communication. A successive convex approximation (SCA)-based block coordinate descent (BCD) algorithm is proposed to maximize communication capacity under the condition of sensing SNR. Numerical results show that, compared with the traditional ISAC system and various benchmark schemes, the proposed ISAC-MA system can achieve higher communication capacity under the same sensing SNR constraints.

This paper investigates a novel unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) secure communication system with integrated sensing and communications. We consider wireless security enhancement for a multiple-antenna UAV transmitting ISAC waveforms to communicate with multiple ground Internet-of-Thing devices and detect the surrounding environment. Specifically, we aim to maximize the average communication secrecy rate by optimizing the UAV trajectory and beamforming vectors. Given that the UAV trajectory optimization problem is non-convex due to multi-variable coupling develop an efficient algorithm based on the successive convex approximation (SCA) algorithm. Numerical results show that our proposed algorithm can ensure the accuracy of sensing targets and improve the communication secrecy rate.

Fluorite-type $\mathrm{HfO_2}$-based ferroelectric (FE) oxides have rekindled interest in FE memories due to their compatibility with silicon processing and potential for high-density integration. The polarization characteristics of FE devices are governed by the dynamics of metastable domain structure evolution. Insightful design of FE devices for encoding and storage necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the internal structural evolution. Here, we demonstrate the evolution of domain structures through a transient polar orthorhombic (O)-$Pmn2_1$-like configuration via $in$-$situ$ biasing on $\mathrm{TiN/Hf_{0.5}Zr_{0.5}O_2/TiN}$ capacitors within spherical aberration-corrected transmission electron microscope, combined with theoretical calculations. Furthermore, it is directly evidenced that the non-FE O-$Pbca$ transforms into the FE O-$Pca2_1$ phase under electric field, with the polar axis of the FE-phase aligning towards the bias direction through ferroelastic transformation, thereby enhancing FE polarization. As cycling progresses further, however, the polar axis collapses, leading to FE degradation. In this paper, we prove that the existence of globally conservative weak solutions for a class of two-component nonlinear dispersive wave equations beyond wave breaking. We first introduce a new set of independent and dependent variables in connection with smooth solutions, and transform the system into an equivalent semi-linear system. We then establish the global existence of solutions for the semi-linear system via the standard theory of ordinary differential equations. Research on microwave signal measurement techniques is risen, driven by the expanding urgent demands of wireless communication, global positioning systems, remote sensing and 6G networks. In stark contrast with traditional electronic-based realization, the implementations of microwave signal measurement systems based on integrated compact photonic chip have exhibited distinct advantages in high operation bandwidth, light weight, and strong immunity to electromagnetic interference. However, although numerous integrated microwave photonic signal measurement systems have been reported, measurement bandwidth of the majority of them is still below 30 GHz due to the bandwidth limitation of electro-optical modulators (EOMs). Furthermore, previous studies often are more focused on the measurement of one single parameter (typically the frequency) of microwave signals, which has hindered their practical application in complex situations. Here, an integrated photonic microwave multi-parameter measurement system composed of microwave frequency measurement module and microwave phase amplitude measurement module based on thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) platform is reported. Utilizing this system, not only the ultra-high bandwidth (up to 60GHz) of microwave frequency, phase and amplitude measurement with low root-mean-squares errors (450MHz, 3.43{\deg} and 1.64% of the measurement for frequency, phase and amplitude, respectively), but also the time-domain reconstruction of sinusoidal microwave signals is achieved. Over the past few years, the advancement of Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) has captured the wide interest of researchers, leading to numerous innovations to enhance MLLMs' comprehension. In this paper, we present AdaptVision, a multimodal large language model specifically designed to dynamically process input images at varying resolutions. We hypothesize that the requisite number of visual tokens for the model is contingent upon both the resolution and content of the input image. Generally, natural images with a lower information density can be effectively interpreted by the model using fewer visual tokens at reduced resolutions. In contrast, images containing textual content, such as documents with rich text, necessitate a higher number of visual tokens for accurate text interpretation due to their higher information density. Building on this insight, we devise a dynamic image partitioning module that adjusts the number of visual tokens according to the size and aspect ratio of images. This method mitigates distortion effects that arise from resizing images to a uniform resolution and dynamically optimizing the visual tokens input to the LLMs. Our model is capable of processing images with resolutions up to $1008\times 1008$. Extensive experiments across various datasets demonstrate that our method achieves impressive performance in handling vision-language tasks in both natural and text-related scenes. In video lane detection, there are rich temporal contexts among successive frames, which is under-explored in existing lane detectors. In this work, we propose LaneTCA to bridge the individual video frames and explore how to effectively aggregate the temporal context. Technically, we develop an accumulative attention module and an adjacent attention module to abstract the long-term and short-term temporal context, respectively. The accumulative attention module continuously accumulates visual information during the journey of a vehicle, while the adjacent attention module propagates this lane information from the previous frame to the current frame. The two modules are meticulously designed based on the transformer architecture. Finally, these long-short context features are fused with the current frame features to predict the lane lines in the current frame. Extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments are conducted on two prevalent benchmark datasets. To coordinate resources among multi-level stakeholders and enhance the integration of electric vehicles (EVs) into multi-microgrids, this study proposes an optimal dispatch strategy within a multi-microgrid cooperative alliance using a nuanced two-stage pricing mechanism. Initially, the strategy assesses electric energy interactions between microgrids and distribution networks to establish a foundation for collaborative scheduling. The two-stage pricing mechanism initiates with a leader-follower game, wherein the microgrid operator acts as the leader and users as followers. Subsequently, it adjusts EV tariffs based on the game's equilibrium, taking into account factors such as battery degradation and travel needs to optimize EVs' electricity consumption. Furthermore, a bi-level optimization model refines power interactions and pricing strategies across the network, significantly enhancing demand response capabilities and economic outcomes. Federated learning (FL) has shown promising results on training machine learning models with privacy preservation. However, for large models with over 100 million parameters, the training resource requirement becomes an obstacle for FL because common devices do not have enough memory and computation power to finish the FL tasks. Although efficient training methods have been proposed, it is still a challenge to train the large models like Conformer based ASR. This paper presents a systematic solution to train the full-size ASR models of 130M parameters with FL. To our knowledge, this is the first real-world FL application of the Conformer model, which is also the largest model ever trained with FL so far. And this is the first paper showing FL can improve the ASR model quality with a set of proposed methods to refine the quality of data and labels of clients. We demonstrate both the training efficiency and the model quality improvement in real-world experiments.

This work explores the challenge of enhancing Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) model performance across various user-specific domains while preserving user data privacy. We employ federated learning and parameter-efficient domain adaptation methods to solve the (1) massive data requirement of ASR models from user-specific scenarios and (2) the substantial communication cost between servers and clients during federated learning. We demonstrate that when equipped with proper adapters, ASR models under federated tuning can achieve similar performance compared with centralized tuning ones, thus providing a potential direction for future privacy-preserved ASR services. Besides, we investigate the efficiency of different adapters and adapter incorporation strategies under the federated learning setting.

Shadow detection is a fundamental and challenging task in many computer vision applications. Intuitively, most shadows come from the occlusion of light by the object itself, resulting in the object and its shadow being contiguous (referred to as the adjacent shadow in this paper). In this case, when the color of the object is similar to that of the shadow, existing methods struggle to achieve accurate detection. To address this problem, we present SwinShadow, a transformer-based architecture that fully utilizes the powerful shifted window mechanism for detecting adjacent shadows. The mechanism operates in two steps. Initially, it applies local self-attention within a single window, enabling the network to focus on local details. Subsequently, it shifts the attention windows to facilitate inter-window attention, enabling the capture of a broader range of adjacent information. These combined steps significantly improve the network's capacity to distinguish shadows from nearby objects. And the whole process can be divided into three parts: encoder, decoder, and feature integration. During encoding, we adopt Swin Transformer to acquire hierarchical features. Then during decoding, for shallow layers, we propose a deep supervision (DS) module to suppress the false positives and boost the representation capability of shadow features for subsequent processing, while for deep layers, we leverage a double attention (DA) module to integrate local and shifted window in one stage to achieve a larger receptive field and enhance the continuity of information. Ultimately, a new multi-level aggregation (MLA) mechanism is applied to fuse the decoded features for mask prediction. Extensive experiments on three shadow detection benchmark datasets, SBU, UCF, and ISTD, demonstrate that our network achieves good performance in terms of balance error rate (BER).

The natural bulk van der Waals heterostructures compound 6R-TaS2 consists of alternate stacking 1T- and 1H-TaS2 monolayers, creating a unique system that incorporates charge-density-wave (CDW) order and superconductivity (SC) in distinct monolayers. Here, after confirming that the 2D nature of the lattice is preserved up to 8 GPa in 6R-TaS2, we documented an unusual evolution of CDW and SC by conducting highpressure electronic transport measurements. Upon compression, we observe a gradual suppression of CDW within the 1T-layers, while the SC exhibits a dome-shaped behavior that terminates at a critical pressure Pc around 2.9 GPa. By taking account of the fact that the substantial suppression of SC is concomitant with the complete collapse of CDW order at Pc, we argue that the 6R-TaS2 behaves like a stack of Josephson junctions and thus the suppressed superconductivity can be attributed to the weakening of Josephson coupling associated with the presence of CDW fluctuations in the 1T-layers. Furthermore, the SC reversely enhances above Pc, implying the development of emergent superconductivity in the 1T-layers after the melting of T-layer CDW orders. These results show that the 6R-TaS2 not only provides a promising platform to explore emergent phenomena but also serves as a model system to study the complex interactions between competing electronic states., Comment: 21 pages,5 figures

The concept of distributed consensus gained widespread attention following the publication of "Byzantine Generals Problem" by Leslie Lamport in the 1980s. This research topic has been active and extensively studied over the last four decades, particularly since the advent of blockchain technology in 2009. Blockchain technology employs Proof-of-X (PoX) or Byzantine-fault-tolerant (BFT) systems, where all participants follow a protocol to achieve a common state (i.e., consistency) eventually. However, because PoX consensus such as Proof-of-Work is is resource-intensive with high power consumption, most permissioned blockchains employ BFT to achieve consistency. In this article, we provide an introduction to the fundamental principles and history of distributed consensus. We then explore the well-known fault-tolerant state machine replication (SMR) in partially synchronous networks, as well as consensus protocols in asynchronous models and recently proposed DAG-based consensus. Additionally, we examine the relationship between BFT consensus and blockchain technology and discuss the following questions: What is the history and evolution of BFT? Why are BFT protocols designed in the way they are and what core components do they use? What is the connection between BFT and blockchain technology, and what are the driving needs for future BFT research?

The ternary chalcogenide Bi2Rh3Se2 was found to be a charge density wave (CDW) superconductor with a 2*2 periodicity. The key questions regarding the underlying mechanism of CDW state and its interplay with lattice and electronic properties remains to be explored. Here, based on the systematic Raman scattering investigations on single crystalline Bi2Rh3Se2, we observed the fingerprinting feature of CDW state, a collective amplitude mode at 39 cm-1. The temperature evolution of Raman shift and line width for this amplitude mode can be well described by the critical behavior of two-dimensional (2D) Ising model, suggesting the interlayer interactions of Bi2Rh3Se2 is negligible when CDW state is formed, as a consequence, the quantum fluctuations play an important role at low temperature. Moreover, temperature dependence of Raman shift for Ag9 mode deviates significantly from the expected anharmonic behavior when approaching the CDW transition temperature 240 K, demonstrated that strong electron-phonon coupling plays a key role in the formation of CDW. Our results reveal that Bi2Rh3Se2 is an intriguing quasi-2D system to explore electronic quantum phase transition and modulate the correlations between CDW and superconductivity.

Automatic generation of discharge summaries presents significant challenges due to the length of clinical documentation, the dispersed nature of patient information, and the diverse terminology used in healthcare. This paper presents a hybrid solution for generating discharge summary sections as part of our participation in the "Discharge Me!" Challenge at the BioNLP 2024 Shared Task. We developed a two-stage generation method using both extractive and abstractive techniques, in which we first apply name entity recognition (NER) to extract key clinical concepts, which are then used as input for a prompt-tuning-based GatorTronGPT model to generate coherent text for two important sections including "Brief Hospital Course" and "Discharge Instructions". Our system was ranked 5th in this challenge, achieving an overall score of 0.284. When mobile meets LLMs, mobile app users deserve to have more intelligent usage experiences. For this to happen, we argue that there is a strong need to appl LLMs for the mobile ecosystem. We therefore provide a research roadmap for guiding our fellow researchers to achieve that as a whole. In this roadmap, we sum up six directions that we believe are urgently required for research to enable native intelligence in mobile devices. In each direction, we further summarize the current research progress and the gaps that still need to be filled by our fellow researchers.

Food recommendation systems serve as pivotal components in the realm of digital lifestyle services, designed to assist users in discovering recipes and food items that resonate with their unique dietary predilections. Typically, multi-modal descriptions offer an exhaustive profile for each recipe, thereby ensuring recommendations that are both personalized and accurate. Our preliminary investigation of two datasets indicates that pre-trained multi-modal dense representations might precipitate a deterioration in performance compared to ID features when encapsulating interactive relationships. This observation implies that ID features possess a relative superiority in modeling interactive collaborative signals. Consequently, contemporary cutting-edge methodologies augment ID features with multi-modal information as supplementary features, overlooking the latent semantic relations between recipes. To rectify this, we present CLUSSL, a novel food recommendation framework that employs clustering and self-supervised learning. Specifically, CLUSSL formulates a modality-specific graph tailored to each modality with discrete/continuous features, thereby transforming semantic features into structural representation. Furthermore, CLUSSL procures recipe representations pertinent to different modalities via graph convolutional operations. A self-supervised learning objective is proposed to foster independence between recipe representations derived from different unimodal graphs.
