In order to study the effect of temperature-confining pressure coupling on the creep behavior of rock-like specimen with precast internal fissures, the creep tests under different temperatures and confining pressures are carried out. The test results show that the rock presents primary creep stage and steady creep stage at low stress levels. Under the condition of high stress, the creep process of rock shows an obvious accelerated creep stage. The curve of accelerated creep stage of rock gradually smoothing with the increase of confining pressure, and the corresponding creep failure time gradually increases. The failure under low confining pressure is mainly tensile failure. The high confining pressure is the shear failure, or even the mixture of shear and plastic failure.

Adhering to Chinese culture and philosophy, the development of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) should be cooperative and open. TCM should learn from the achievements of ancient and modern scientific and technological civilization in human history and promote cultural exchange. TCM advocates unity, harmony, and interaction, and keeps going in a new information and digital era with Big Science and Extensive Health. The disciplinary development of TCM should embrace inheritance and innovation, and explore the scientific research and transformation of clinical experience. The dual attributes of science and humanity of TCM should be followed. In terms of education,quot;reading classics, acquiring clinical experience, and consulting experienced tutorsquot; cannot be ignored. Underpinned by Xiang-thinking, TCM development should highlight the originality and learn from the failures of excessive westernization in the past with an inclusive attitude to forge through disciplines to the leading position.

Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear. Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities (cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19. Results Overall, 158 (13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32 (2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension (2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes (T2DM) (3.57, 2.32–5.49), cardiovascular disease (CVD) (3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease (7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia (2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases (6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance (10.40, 3.00–26.10) were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2DM (6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD (8.47, 6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance (19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission (5.46, 3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes (6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks. Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease, while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes.

Nonlinear hydroelastic interaction among a floating elastic plate, a train of deepwater waves, and a current which decays exponentially with depth is studied analytically. We introduce a stream function to obtain the governing equation with the dynamic boundary condition expressing a balance among the hydrodynamic, the shear currents, elastic, and inertial forces. We use the Dubreil-Jacotin transformation to reformulate the unknown free surface as a fixed location in the calculations. The convergent analytical series solutions for the floating plate deflection are obtained with the aid of the homotopy analysis method (HAM). The effects of the shear current are discussed in detail. It is found that the phase speed decreases with the increase of the vorticity parameter in the opposing current, while the phase speed increases with the increase of the vorticity parameter in the aiding current. Larger vorticity tends to increase the horizontal velocity. In the opposing current, the horizontal velocity under the wave crest delays more quickly as the depth increases than that of waves under the wave trough, while in the aiding current case, there is the opposite effect. Furthermore, the larger vorticity can sharpen the hydroelastic wave crest and smooth the trough on an opposing current, while it produces an opposite effect on an aiding current.

In the early February, 2020, we called up an experts' committee with more than 30 Chinese experts from 11 national medical academic organizations to formulate the first edition of consensus statement on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in children, which has been published in this journal. With accumulated experiences in the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 in children, we have updated the consensus statement and released the second edition recently. The current version in English is a condensed version of the second edition of consensus statement on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of COVID-19 in children. In the current version, diagnosis and treatement criteria have been optimized, and early identification of severe and critical cases is highlighted. The early warning indicators for severe pediatric cases have been summarized which is utmost important for clinical practice. This version of experts consensus will be valuable for better prevention, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 in children worldwide.

In December 2019, a new type viral pneumonia cases occurred in Wuhan, Hubei Province; and then named “2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV)” by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 12 January 2020. For it is a never been experienced respiratory disease before and with infection ability widely and quickly, it attracted the world’s attention but without treatment and control manual. For the request from frontline clinicians and public health professionals of 2019-nCoV infected pneumonia management, an evidence-based guideline urgently needs to be developed. Therefore, we drafted this guideline according to the rapid advice guidelines methodology and general rules of WHO guideline development; we also added the first-hand management data of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University. This guideline includes the guideline methodology, epidemiological characteristics, disease screening and population prevention, diagnosis, treatment and control (including traditional Chinese Medicine), nosocomial infection prevention and control, and disease nursing of the 2019-nCoV. Moreover, we also provide a whole process of a successful treatment case of the severe 2019-nCoV infected pneumonia and experience and lessons of hospital rescue for 2019-nCoV infections. This rapid advice guideline is suitable for the first frontline doctors and nurses, managers of hospitals and healthcare sections, community residents, public health persons, relevant researchers, and all person who are interested in the 2019-nCoV.

A nonintegrable Korteweg–de Vries equation with variable coefficients is investigated in this paper. Due to the existence of variable coefficients, the equation becomes nonintegrable, which leads to the invalidity of the traditional analytical methods to obtain soliton solutions. In order to overcome this difficulty, the variational approach is employed in this paper. The variational principle corresponding to this nonintegrable equation is established. Based on that, the first- and second-order nonautonomous soliton solutions are derived. We note that the obtained solutions can be degenerated to the integrable cases. Properties of the nonautonomous solitons and influence of the variable coefficients are discussed.

The natural and ecologically safe control of stored product insects has gained considerable attention in modern society. In this study of further searching for botanical pesticides from wild-growing plant, the contact toxicity and repellency towards Tribolium castaneum and Liposcelis bostrychophila were assessed for the essential oil (EO) from Ostericum viridiflorum. The EO was distilled from aboveground parts of O. viridiflorum and checked by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Twenty-two compounds were identified and the main components were β-caryophyllene (24.3%), α-humulene (21.0%), apiol (10.2%), and carotol (2.5%). For bioactivity tests, results indicated that the EO and its two main compounds (β-caryophyllene and α-humulene) all showed potent contact toxicity towards L. bostrychophila with LD50 values of 44.52 μg/cm2, 74.11 μg/cm2, and 118.56 μg/cm2, respectively. The EO and the two main compounds also exhibited comparable repellency towards T. castaneum and L. bostrychophila. The results evidenced the EO of O. viridiflorum aboveground parts and its major compounds could be considered for the development of eco-friendly botanical insecticides and repellents in controlling stored product insects.

To find the status of outcome indicators reported in published randomized controlled trial(RCT) of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) for essential hypertension in the past two years, we searched for relevant information from four Chinese databases, three English databases and two clinical trial registries in this study, from January 2018 to September 2019. The outcome indicators of RCT were extracted and categorized from trials and the risk of bias was assessed by ROB tools from the Cochrane Collaboration. A total of 125 RCTs and 15 RCT protocols were finally included after study screening. The results showed that the RCT outcomes mainly included efficacy and safety outcomes. Efficacy indicators mainly included blood pressure measurement, quality of life assessment, blood biochemical indicators, urine analysis, arterial ultrasound, vascular endothelial function indicators, hematocrit, hemorheology indicators and other indicators. The safety indicators mainly included general physical examination items, heart, liver and kidney function tests, blood, urine, and stool routine examinations as well as adverse drug reactions/events. The current RCTs cannot distinguish primary and secondary outcomes, and the RCT protocols didn't report efficacy criteria clearly. They both didn't report health economic indicators and the methodological qualities were relatively low. In view of the current status on outcome indicators reported in TCM RCTs, constructing a core outcome set of TCM for essential hypertension and improving the methodology quality of RCTs will help to accurately reflect the actual efficacy of TCM intervention.

At present, most of Chinese patent medicines have problems, such as weak scientific basis, unclear clinical value evaluation, etc., which lead to the lack of sufficient evidence for the entry into the essential medicine list, medical insurance catalog and other important health resource allocation tools. This has a negative impact on the development of traditional Chinese medicine. It is urgent to establish a comprehensive evaluation methodology system of Chinese patent medicine in China. There are at least three reasons including producing evidence for clinical rational use scientifically, developing an objective and transparent selecting strategy, eventuating and highlighting its clinical value. The process and method of health technology assessment(HTA) can provide reference for the establishment of comprehensive evaluation method of Chinese patent medicine. However, HTA is rarely carried out in the field of traditional Chinese medicine. The latest domestic and international research showed that HTA combined with multi-criteria decision analysis(MCDA) can increase the transparency of decision-making and improve the quality of decision-making. The combined two formed the EVIDEM framework, which is conducive to drug selection and its clinical use. In this paper, the EVIDEM framework was introduced to establish the methodology framework of the comprehensive clinical evaluation system of Chinese patent medicine. A preliminary research idea has been put forward. In the future, we can establish a set of comprehensive clinical evaluation methods for Chinese patent medicine in cooperation with relevant national drug decision-making departments and management departments. It is believed that such cooperation could promote the full implementation of the re-evaluation for Chinese patent medicine.

Shujin Jianyao Pills is a Chinese patent medicine, with anti-inflammation, analgesic and anti-osteoporotic effects. Based on a questionnaire investigation of clinicians and a systematic review of study literatures on Shujin Jianyao Pills, the international clinical practice guidelines development method was adopted to analyze the optimal available evidences and expert experiences in thequot;evidence-based, consensus-based and experience-basedquot; principles. Expert consensus on Shujin Jianyao Pills in clinical practice(GS/CACM267-2019) was developed by more than 30 multidisciplinary experts nationwide with the aim to guide and standardize the rational use of Shujin Jianyao Pills among clinicians and improve the clinical efficacy and safety. The expert consensus adopted the internationally recognized recommendation criteria for classification of evidence--GRADE. Expert consensus was formed by the nominal group method. Six main considerations were quality of evidence, curative effect, safety, economical efficiency, patient acceptability and other factors. If there were sufficient evidences, aquot;recommendationquot; was given, and GRADE grid voting rule was adopted. If there wasn't sufficient evidence, aquot;consensus opinionquot; was formed, and the majority counting rule. According to the indication, usage and do-sage, drug use for special population and safety of Shujin Jianyao Pills, one recommendation and nine consensus opinions were put forward. By means of expert meetings and correspondence, a nationwide consultations and peer reviews were conducted. This consensus is applicable to clinicians in hospitals and grass-roots health services, and provides guidance and reference for the rational use of Shujin Jianyao Pills.

Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) triggered a severe and complicated epidemic situation, and it is of great significance to discuss the rules and characteristics of the prescription of COVID-19 in traditional Chinese medicine. This study collected prevention and treatment approaches of traditional Chinese medicine for COVID-19 released from the National Health Committee of China, 7 provinces and municipal health committees, the Chinese Medicine Administration and Handbook of Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment of COVID-19 between January 1 and February 18, 2020, and prescriptions prepared by 3 masters of Chinese medicine and 4 well-known Chinese medicine experts. These information were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and EpiData 3.0 software was used to establish thequot;Traditional Chinese Medicine Prescription Library for the Prevention and Treatment of COVID-19quot; and thequot;Common Database of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the Prevention and Treatment of COVID-19quot;. A total of 93 effective Chinese medicine prescriptions and a total of 157 kinds of constituent medicines were collected. Data analysis was performed by SPSS 18.0 software. The results showed that: ①most of the medicines are with cold and warm properties, 69 with cold medicines, accounting for 43.95%, 57 with warm medicines, accounting for 36.31%, and less with hot medicines, taking up 1.27%; ②there are many pungent, bitter and sweet medicines, and the distribution of medicinal flavors is different at different disease stage. The pungent medicines are mostly found in the early stage, the bitter drugs are the main flavor in the middle and severe stage, and the sweet medicines are mostly used in the recovery stage; ③the meridian of the drug is more concentrated at the lung, stomach, and heart, and most of drugs are into the lung meridian, accounting for 24.55%; these medicines are mostly into the lungs and stomach in the initial and middle stages, and into the heart and kidney in severe stages; ④oral drugs are mostly non-toxic, among which only 6 kinds are toxic, namely Armeniacae Semen Amarum, Dryopteridis Crassirhizomatis Rhizoma, Paridis Rhizoma, Pinelliae Rhizoma, Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparaia; ⑤most of the drugs have five types of functions: treating exterior syndromes, resolving dampness, clearing heat, replenishing deficiency, resolving phlegm, cough, and asthma. In the early stage, both drugs for treating exterior syndromes and heat clearing drugs were equally used, accounting for 18.81% each. In the middle stage, drugs resolving phlegm, cough, and asthma drugs are more often used, accounting for 29.61%. In the severe stage, heat clearing drugs are mostly used, accounting for 33.33%. During the recovery period, tonic deficiency drugs are used the most, accounting for 36.47%. The medical characteristics and efficacy of Chinese medicine in preventing and treating COVID-19 are closely related to the understanding of the etiology of Chinese medicine and the location and pathogenesis of the disease. Staged medication and local conditions need attention during the identification and treatment of COVID-19 clinical syndromes.

Additional file 2. Experience and lessons in hospital rescue for 2019-nCoV infections.

In this paper, a mathematical model for describing the solid-fluid transformation of ice water is put forward based on the special geometry cases. The correctness of the obtained model is verified through comparison with numerical analysis and experiments. The good agreement indicates that the obtained model is available for the study of the solid-fluid transformation of ice water. The theory derived in this paper lays a foundation for the research of solid-fluid transformation phenomena of other materials and may have important applications in engineering areas such as rheology, creep, and instability of materials.

Additional file 1. A successful treatment case of the severe 2019-nCoV infected pneumonia patient.

The three elements in evidence-based clinical decisions are " best clinical research evidence,physicians' personal experience,and patients' basic values and wishes". This concept coincides with the " bio-psycho-social" model of systematic medicine,and this is the key reason why evidence-based medicine has become the most important diagnostic and therapeutic system under the new medical model. However,there is no methodological support for the implementation of " respecting patients' basic values and wishes".As a result,this concept is difficult to be implemented in clinical practice,and has become the form of " patient or family member' s signature for consent". In narrative medicine,doctors are advocated to record details,psychological processes and even family members' feelings in non-technical language to form parallel medical records,and the key point is to achieve " empathy" between doctors and patients. This idea is consistent with traditional Chinese medicine( TCM),and also provides a practical operation method " to respect patients' basic values and wishes". Medicine is a discipline based on human science,with dual attributes of science and humanity. Humanistic care is the tradition of TCM,and also is one of the basic characteristics and core connotations in TCM. Therefore,in the development of evidence-based TCM,we should combine evidence-based medicine with narrative medicine,and inject humanistic care into evidence-based medicine with the concept and methodology of narrative medicine,so as to achieve the deep integration of science and humanity.

Hugan Tablets is a Chinese patent medicine,it has the function of anti-inflammation and reducing transaminase. Based on questionnaire investigation of doctors and a systematic review of research literature on Hugan Tablets,using international clinical practice guidelines' developing methods,with the best available evidence and fully combining expert experience,and following the principle of " evidence-based,consensus-based and experience-based",Expert consensus statement on Hugan Tablets in clinical practice was developed by more than 30 multidisciplinary experts from the nationwide,aimed at guiding and standardizing the rational use of Hugan Tablets by clinicians and to improve clinical efficacy and safety. The expert consensus adopts internationally recognized recommendation criteria for classification of evidence: GRADE. The formation of expert consensus adopts the nominal group technique. Six main considerations are quality of evidence,curative effect,safety,economical efficiency,patient acceptability and other factors. If there is sufficient evidence,a " recommendation" is formed,using GRADE grid voting rule. If there isn' t sufficient evidence,a " consensus opinion" is formed,using majority counting rule. Focus on the indication,usage and dosage,drug use in special population and safety of Hugan Tablets,two recommendations and eight consensus opinions were put forward. Through expert meetings and correspondence,a nationwide consultation and peer review was conducted. This consensus applies to clinicians in hospitals and grass-roots health services,to provide guidance and reference for the rational use of Hugan Tablets.

Under investigation in this paper is an extended forced Korteweg-de Vries equation with variable coefficients in the fluid or plasma. Lax pair, bilinear forms, and bilinear Backlund transformations are derived. Based on the bilinear forms, the first-, second-, and third-order nonautonomous soliton solutions are derived. Propagation and interaction of the nonautonomous solitons are investigated and influence of the variable coefficients is also discussed: Amplitude of the first-order nonautonomous soliton is determined by the spectral parameter and perturbed factor; there exist two kinds of the solitons, namely the elevation and depression solitons, depending on the sign of the spectral parameter; the background where the nonautonomous soliton exists is influenced by the perturbed factor and external force coefficient; breather solutions can be constructed under the conjugate condition, and period of the breather is related to the dispersive and nonuniform coefficients.

Under investigation in this paper is an integrable equation which can describe the localized magnetization with spin torque under the long-wavelength approximation. In order to obtain the rogue wave solutions, a new Lax pair is derived. Infinitely-many conservation laws are also constructed. Based on the generalized Darboux transformation, the first-, second- and third-order rogue wave solutions are derived. Property of the rogue waves are analyzed and influence of parameters α, β and separating function f (ϵ) on the rogue waves and spatial-temporal structures are also discussed (the meaning of α and β can be found in the paper). For the case of f ( ϵ ) = 0 , the modulus of the k th-order rogue wave ( k = 1 , 2 , 3 ) is irrelevant to parameter α . Parameter β influences the spatial-temporal range where the rogue wave appears. Spatial-temporal range enlarges with the increase of β . In addition, β also produces a skew angle and the skew angle rotates in the counter clockwise direction with the increase of β. f (ϵ) influences the spatial-temporal structures of the second- and third-order rouge waves. If f (ϵ) ≠ 0, the second-order rogue wave will split into three single first-order rouge waves and the triangular pattern can be formed, while the third-order rogue wave will split into six ones and the triangular pattern and pentagon pattern can be formed. The linear stability analysis is carried out, which shows that the modulation instability process is influenced by the amplitude of the harmonic wave and the wave number.

Under investigation in this paper are the coupled higher-order nonlinear Schrodinger equations which can describe the propagation of ultrashort pulses in the inhomogeneous optical fiber. Nonautonomous rogue waves are derived via the generalized Darboux transformation. Tunneling effects of the nonautonomous rogue waves are discussed. Amplitudes of the nonautonomous rogue waves increase when they reach the dispersion barriers and restore their original shapes after passing through the barriers, while decrease at the dispersion wells. Those are reversed for the nonlinear barriers and nonlinear wells cases.

Surface soil/sediment samples were collected from the Water-Level Fluctuation Zone (WLFZ), cultivated land and forest land at 50 different grid points from Shenjia watershed, the Three Gorges Reservoir area in August 2013. The spatial distribution, sources and ecological risk assessment for Arsenic (As), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Copper (Cu), Nickel (Ni), Lead (Pb) and Zinc (Zn) were analyzed in this study. The results showed all tested metals had similar distribution patterns except Ni and Cr, with areas of high concentrations distributed in the southwest (WLFZ and watershed outlet) of the study area. Ni and Cr, which were highly positively correlated and present in high concentrations, were primarily distributed in the south and middle zones of the study area. Lower concentration areas of all metals were uniformly distributed west of the high-elevation zones and forest land. Factor analysis (FA) and factor analysis-multiple linear regression (FA-MLR) showed that the major sources of Cd were fertilizer and traffic sources, which together accounted for 87% of Cd. As, Zn and Cu levels were primarily supplied by industrial and domestic sources, accounting for 76% of As, 75% of Cu and 67% of Zn. Surface soils/sediments of the study watershed contaminated by Cd represent a high ecological risk, whereas other metals represent low ecological risks. The potential ecological risk index (PERI) analysis indicated that it had a low (wide-range) ecological risk and a moderate (small-range) ecological risk primarily distributed in the outlet of the study watershed. Fertilizers and traffic are the primary sources of Cd pollution, which should be more closely controlled for the purposes of water quality and ecological conservation.

Effects of underlying uniform current on the nonlinear hydroelastic waves generated due to an infinite floating plate are studied analytically, under the hypotheses that the fluid is homogeneous, incompressible, and inviscid. For the case of irrotational motion, the Laplace equation is the governing equation, with the boundary conditions expressing a balance among the hydrodynamics, the uniform current, and elastic force. It is found that the convergent series solutions, obtained by the homotopy analysis method (HAM), consist of the nonlinear hydroelastic wave profile and the velocity potential. The impacts of important physical parameters are discussed in detail. With the increment of the following current intensity, we find that the amplitudes of the hydroelastic waves decrease very slightly, while the opposing current produces the opposite effect on the hydroelastic waves. Furthermore, the amplitudes of waves increase very obviously for higher opposing current speed but reduce very slightly for higher following current speed. A larger amplitude of the incident wave increases the hydroelastic wave deflections for both opposing and following current, while for Young’s modulus of the plate there is the opposite effect.

The particle size distributions (PSDs) of soil and associated sediment are of fundamental importance in studying soil erosion dynamics and related environmental issues. However, detailed information on the variation of sediment size distributions within the erosion-delivery continuum and the effects of particle size selectivity on the size distribution of the sediment involved are absent and are urgently needed. A rainfall simulation experiment was performed on an erosion plot constructed on silt loam purple soil, located in Chongqing municipality, China. Three categories of material, namely, mobilized sediment, and exported and deposited sediment, associated with erosion and sediment delivery, were distinguished and sampled. The effective and ultimate PSDs of the sediment were determined and compared with those of the in situ soil. The results show that most of the mobilized and exported sediment was transported as primary particles. However, substantial proportions of aggregates were present in the deposited sediment. The experiment provided evidence of size-selective erosion, transport, and deposition and demonstrated that consideration of both effective and ultimate PSDs can provide an improved understanding of the size selectivity of erosion and sediment delivery processes. Consideration of the former can be important for understanding the erosion and delivery dynamics that control the latter. The results presented in this study demonstrate the potential for using and building on the approach employed, in order to develop a better understanding of the dynamics of sediment transport and deposition, as well as the size-selective nature of sediment mobilization, transport, and deposition.

Similar material of soft rock used at domestic and abroad are analyzed and compared and researched the advantages and disadvantages of them. Self-made similar material of soft rock mixed with cement, plaster mixed mortar as a cementing agent and sand, rubber powder as aggregate were analyzed and compared. After analyzed multi physical and mechanical characteristics, different ratios of specimens were verified by adjusting the ratio of different materials in similar material to obtain the ideal similar material of soft rock. It was provided reference for similar material model experiment of soft rock.

Model experiment is a method to study the creep deformation and failure mechanism of soft rock under complicated geological conditions. The similar criterion is the theoretical basis of Model Experiment. This paper used dimensional analysis to deduce the similarity criterion in elastic and creep stage of deep soft rock Model experiment. We got the Model experiment similarity index compliance by studying the similarity criterion. This provides a theoretical basis to study the creep properties of soft rock.

Objective To analyze clinical features and medication laws of patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Methods Real world data based on Hospital Information System (HIS) were collected from 17 grade 3 hospitals across China from Jan.2006 to Dec.2011. Data of case his- tory in HIV infectors included their general information, features of AIDS, medications of Western drugs and Chinese herbs during hospitalization. Results Data of 451 patients with HIV infection were collected. A total of 261 patients had clear age record. Their age ranged between 18 and 65 [ accounting for 90. 4% (236/ 261 ) ], with an average age of 36. The ratio of male to female was 2. 8:1. They were hospitalized first at De- partment of Lemology (66. 96%), followed by Department of Respiration (8. 2%). They were admitted to hospital first at clinics (79. 6%), and accepted from Emergency Department (20. 18%). Most of them were admitted to hospital due to infectious diseases. Of them, tuberculosis occupied the top (8.29%), followed by bacterial pneumonia (6. 44%). Totally 349 patients had complete medication record. A total of 399 kinds of Western drugs and 80 kinds of Chinese patent medicines were used. The frequency of using antimicrobial drugs was the top (11. 86%), and Compound Sulfamethoxazole was mostly used in 120 cases (2. 81%). Of 80 kinds of Chinese patent medicines, heat clearing and detoxifying herbs were most often used (19. 27%), followed by antipyretics (10. 30%), tonics (8. 97%), and expectorant (7. 31%). Antimicrobial drugs combined heat clearing and detoxifying herbs were the most often seen in clinics. The 451 HIV infec- tors had steady condition after treated by Western drugs and Chinese herbs. The improvement rate reached 51. 33%. Conclusion Antimicrobial drugs were most often used in HIV patients. Heat clearing and detoxif- ying herbs were most often used in HIV patients. Antimicrobial drugs combined heat clearing and detoxif- ying herbs were most often seen in clinics for HIV patients.

Objective Previous studies mainly reported the clinical characteristics of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) infections, but the research on clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of COVID-19 patients with stroke is still rare. Methods A multi-center retrospective study was conducted at 11 hospitals in 4 provinces of China, and COVID-19 patients with stroke were enrolled from February 24 to May 4, 2020. We analyzed epidemiological, demographic, and clinical characteristics of cases as well as the laboratory test results, treatment regimens and outcomes, and the clinical characteristics and therapeutic outcomes were compared between severe and nonsevere patients, and by age group, respectively. Results A total of 27 patients [mean age: 66.41 (SD 12.1) years] were enrolled. Among them, 9 (33.3%) were severe patients and 18 (66.7%) were nonsevere patients; 17 (63.0%) were female; 19 (70.4%) were aged 60 years and above. The most common symptoms were fever [19 (70.4%)], fatigue [12 (44.4%)] and cough [11 (40.7%)], respectively. Abnormal laboratory findings of COVID-19 patients with stroke included high levels of C-reactive protein [19 (73.1%)], D-dimer [14 (58.3%)], blood glucose [14 (53.8%)], fibrinogen [13 (50.0%)], and decreased lymphocytes [12 (44.4%)]. Comparing to nonsevere cases with stroke, severe patients with stroke were likely to be older, susceptible to receiving oxygen inhalation, and had more complications (p < 0.05). In addition, there were significant differences in lymphocytes, neutrophils, lactate dehydrogenase, C-reactive protein, creatine kinase between the severe cases and nonsevere cases (p < 0.05). The older patients had a decreased platelet count and elevated fibrinogen, compared with the younger (p < 0.05). All patients (100%) received antiviral treatment, 12 (44.4%) received antibiotics treatment, 26 (96.3%) received Traditional Chinese Medicine (Lung cleansing & detoxifying decoction), and oxygen inhalation was in 18 (66.7%). The median duration of hospitalization was 16 days. By May 4, 2020, a total of 26 (96.3%) patients were cured and discharged, and 1 (3.7%) patients died. Conclusion COVID-19 patients with stroke had poor indicators of coagulation system, and severe and older patients might have a higher risk of complications and unfavorable coagulation system. Under investigation in this paper is a cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrodinger equation which can describe the propagation of ultrashort pulses in an inhomogeneous optical fibre. Lax pair and conservation laws are constructed from which the integrability of the equation can be verified. Through a gauge transformation, spectral problem for the equation is converted to an Ablowitz–Kaup–Newell–Segur spectral problem. Nonautonomous solitons and breathers are derived based on the Darboux transformation (DT), while nonautonomous rogue waves are obtained via the generalized DT. Influence of the group-velocity dispersion, gain-or-loss coefficient and group-velocity coefficient on the propagation and interaction of the nonautonomous solitons, breathers and rogue waves is also discussed. To survey the reporting quality of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) case reports published in recent years and understand the common problems. The assessment results would lay the foundation for the development of recommendations for case report in Chinese medicine. This survey determined the reporting quality of cases with Chinese herbal decoction, Chinese proprietary medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion and other traditional therapies published in 20 core medical journals of China by searching the China Academic Journals Full-text Database from 2006 to 2010. Fifty survey items in 16 domains were used to determine the reporting quality. One point was assigned to each item (Yes=1 point; No=0 point), and total score was 50 points. The domain of treatment was assessed independently, ranging from 2 to 9 items for different TCM interventions. The total of 1,858 case reports, covering 3,417 cases were included to analyze from 13 out of 20 core medical journals of China. There were 74.8% of them did not identify the nature of study in title, while 73.9% did not comprise an abstract. Incomplete reporting was found in discussions/ comment, and only 38.9% had made recommendations or take-away messages. Figures and tables were infrequently used. Three cases cited the full names of patients, but without declaring that any consent was obtained. Over 90% reported the symptoms and signs of TCM, and characteristics on tongue and pulse, but less than 50% did mention other medical history and diagnostic rationale. More than 90% treatments of the included cases were herbal decoction, with clear reporting on the ingredients and dosages. However, the reporting rate of the dosages of each ingredient was just 48.4%. Almost none reported the quality control of crude herbs, manufacturers and lot numbers of herbal proprietary medicine. Besides, advices and precautions on diet, emotions and living were rare to be illustrated. Systematic reporting recommendations are urged to develop for improving the contents and format of case reports in TCM.

Two essential oil samples were obtained from the pericarp of Zanthoxylum bungeanum with the methods of hydrodistillation (HD) and supercritical fluid CO2 extraction (SFE), their chemical components were identified, and their bioactivities against Lasioderma serricorne adults were evaluated. In the process of testing, the two samples showed significant bioactivities against Lasioderma serricorne adults. For an example, the SFE-sample expressed relatively stronger fumigant toxicity on Lasioderma serricorne adults (LC50 = 3.99 μg/mL air) than that of the HD-sample (LC50 = 12.54 μg/mL air). According to GC-MS analysis, the chemical components between two samples were different. The major chemical components for HD included linalool (25.99%), limonene (19.34%), linalyl anthranilate (12.22%), 4-terpinenol (10.49%), eucalyptol (6.53%) and α-terpineol (5.02%), while for SFE included nonanoic acid (21.43%), γ-terpinene (14.51%), eucalyptol (13.45%), α-terpineol (5.83%) and caryophyllene oxide (5.48%). The results showed that different chemical components result in different bioactivities. This work provides theoretical basis for traditional Chinese concept of antagonistic storage, and it also provides important information for the development and comprehensive utilization of Zanthoxylum bungeanum.

Antifeedant activities of the methanol extracts from Zanthoxylum bungeanum , Zanthoxylum schinifolium , Zanthoxylum armatum and Zanthoxylum dissitum were assessed on Tribolium castaneum adults. It was found that the methanol extract of stem bark of Z. schinifolium had the highest antifeedant activity at 41.12% (antifeedant index). Based on bioactivity-guided fractionation, six benzophenanthridines norchelerythrine ( 1 ), decarine ( 2 ), 8-hydroxy-9-methoxy-2,3-(methylenedioxy) benzophenanthridine ( 3 ), 6-hydroxydihydrochelerythrine ( 4 ), 6-methoxy-7-hydroxydihydrochelerythrine ( 5 ) and oxychelerythrine ( 6 ) were isolated from the stem barks of Z. schinifolium . And their antifeeding activities were also evaluated against T. castaneum . All of them exhibited strong antifeeding activity in a concentration-dependant manner with EC 50 of 62.67, 66.97, 151.39, 96.72, 141.61 and 192.32 ppm, respectively. The six bioactive compounds from the stem bark of Z. schinifolium might be used as antifeedants against T. castaneum .

This paper attempts to explain the theoretical reasons why local farmers have executed land mismanagement measures such as steep slope land cultivation, in order to reveal the mechanisms of karst rocky desertification (KRD, including light KRD, moderate KRD and severe KRD) through typical case studies. Firstly, this paper assumes that the low land capacity is the initial cause of KRD in peak-cluster depression areas. Furthermore, the ecological quality of the peak-cluster depression zone (a combination of clustered karst cones with a common base and depressions between cones) is influenced by the relationship between the area of depressions and the population of residential areas. Therefore, six typical peak-cluster depression areas of Guizhou province were selected to compare the distribution circumstances of cropland, the characteristics of settlements and the formation of KRD with the help of ALOS images in 2010 (with a resolution of 10 m × 10 m). The results show that there is a negative correlation between the percentage of the cultivated land and the percentage of KRD at peak-cluster depressions. The relationship could be concluded by three situations of the process of KRD, which are low, middle and upper carrying capacities of land. Severe KRD is only distributed in peak-cluster depression areas with less flatland, low land capacity and a high population. The harmonization between population pressure and bearing capacity of land will influence the ecological qualities in the peak-cluster depressions. The KRD phenomenon which occurred in six typical peak-cluster depression areas confirms that the hypothesis suggested by this paper is correct, and this result will contribute to understanding the natural mechanisms of KRD and guide the ecological restoration of KRD land.
